Akane Tatsuki (茜樹) - [he/him] The leader/"conductor" of TWT. Standard idol heartthrob, and absolute fuckboy. Imagine Sakasaki Natsume, except he's actually an awful person and he's steal your wallet if given the chance. As much as I'm mean to him, he's very charismatic and fiercely loyal, caring deeply about the people he's close to, and would sacrifice anything if it means the safety of his family.

Seong Ari (성 아리) - [she/her] The saxophone player, as well as the background producer, of TWT. Girlboss. Takes on as much work as possible, overworking herself very often. Paired with Tatsuki, they often resort to tactics that are... less than savoury to get their way, with plans provided by her. Can often resort to "silly" means to get her way, but very no-nonsense otherwise. Ingests enough caffeine daily to kill a horse.

Iwasaki Kaito (岩﨑快斗) - [he/him] Trombonist of TWT. Incredibly physically strong, often using his physical strength as the backbone of his image, but crumbles when approached with any situation that cannot be overcome with brute force. Very emotionally vulnerable, uses this to connect on a deeper level with people he knows, far deeper than those around him. Filled with love. Don't hurt him.

Taguchi Chihiro (田口千尋) - [she/her] Flutist of TWT. Rather timid, but not dreadfully anxious. Is always seeking some form of identity, knowing very little about herself and wanting to experiment to see what fits her. Tends to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, choosing to move at a slower pace than her peers. Although she doesn't think highly of herself, she's more than happy to uplift those around her.

Furukawa Shiori (古川汐里) - [she/they] Trumpeter of TWT. Claiming to be the "hero of all", they want to make sure everyone is playing by the rules. Unfortunately, this does not often mean "established law", and is closer to "rules she made up herself". Chaotic good. Butts heads with anyone who tries to do anything "wrong" in their eyes, making enemies fast. No fucking chill. Zero.

Spring 2023 Anime List

Last season (winter 2022) had so much great anime, and watched 28 anime of the list, so I'm pretty pleased with that count. This season is quite doable as there's only 25 anime this time, rather lot of relationship and isekai anime. But will see, what will happen, and there's few anime which I'll hype so much. :D

Sounds interesting, it's about cat who comfort people. There's 15 episodes, and it will be divided into three 5 episode parts.

MAPPA's new anime, can't wait as it looks so good, and the cast is so nice, Kobayashi Chiaki, Kimura Ryohei, Ono Kensho, Furukawa Makoto... and story with ninjas is always good start.

天国大魔境/Tengoku Daimakyou/Heavenly Delusion

Rather peculiar story, and PV looked interesting, so curious to see how this will go.

Suwabe Junichi is main character's voice actor♡♡♡, and story seemed interesting and PV was intense, animation style was nice..

Rather different take on isekai and school anime, so excited to see this, PV looked great and characters seems to be interesting.

Looks so funny and the cast is great with Kobayashi Chiaki, Ishikawa Kaito, Umehara Yuuichiro, Kaji Yuuki and Eguchi Takuya... Excited to see this and animation style is nice.

カワイスギクライシス/Kawaisugi Crisis/Too Cute Crisis

Alien wandering Earth and ends up in cat café. Looks so cute and story is exciting. Liked the animation style. Cast is nice, and Nakamura Yuuichi♡♡♡.

オーパスカラーズ/Opus.COLORs

AAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Finally something who made Starmyu!!!!! Also Arai Ken is back who made the music on Starmyu and Urashimasakatasen is performing OP. This is so good and so happy to see their exceptional work once again. The cast is unbelievable, and most of my favorites is in it. Story is unique, compaining art and music, and the execution is different. AAAHHHH, CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anime of the season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story is interesting, and it's always great to hear Mizunaka Masaaki, he has so comforting and great voice what will make my heart skip a beat.

異世界ワンターンキル姉さん～姉同伴の異世界生活はじめました～/Isekai One Turn Kill Neesan: Ane Douhan no Isekai Seikatsu Hajimemashita/My One-Hit Kill Sister

Another isekai anime. Story seemed interesting so curious to see this isekai anime, also Uchida Yuuma voicing one of the characters.

Also another isekai anime, rather different approach, so curious to watch this. The cast has Toki Shunichi, Takeuchi Shunsuke and Shimono Hiro.

青のオーケストラ/Ao no Orchestra/The Blue Orchestra

PV looked pretty and it's always nice to see music anime and it's now about orchestra and violin players which is quite rarely portrayed, so happy and excited to see this. Also Chiba Shouya is main character's voice actor, there's also Enko Junya, Furukawa Makoto and Asanuma Shintarou.

おとなりに銀河/Otonari ni Ginga/ A Galaxy Next Door

PV was cute, and story is unique and interesting. Also animation style was great. Yashiro Taku and Sugita Tomokazu is in the cast.

When I first saw first poster of this, my jaw dropped to ground, naked men in the line. Very funny and unique PV, so very excited to see this and how it will turn out. Also the cast is so good, aaaahhh. Technoroid: Overmind and Unison Heart thoughts

I've just watched the final episode of the Technoroid anime and I've put my thoughts together. May or may not be coherent. Spoilers for the anime and for the entirety of the game's story too because I will mainly be talking about how Overmind connects to Unison Heart

So I'm not going to lie, the SOLE REASON I got into Technoroid in the first place was because of Kite. Listen, he is beautiful (and voiced by Furukawa Makoto). Who could resist that? So I thought I would start by watching the anime because that's leagues easier than getting into a gacha game. I knew the premise of the game (robot idols, yay!), and was extremely surprised to find anime Kite was a human! After the whiplash of episode 1's post credits and a few episodes later, I was already downloading the game because I was curious what exactly the anime is a prologue to. The game starts with KNOCC in sleep mode, in a random storage room in Babel, where the player character (you!) find them and turn them back on. They have no memory of the past. Esora seems surprised to see them awake, but he doesn't ever mention knowing them prior.

Which makes the ending of the anime very confusing to me. I thought something fucked up would happen to them, but the heartwarming ending seems to contradict that. Something ELSE happened between that ending and the start of the game and I'm dying to know what it is.

As for Kite. Yeah I felt his fate at the end of the anime was a bit... anticlimactic. (From now on I will refer to human Kite as Kaito, for ease.) Anyway, because of those prior expectations for KNOCC, I also expected something fucked up to happen to Kaito. My head was swirling with theories as to what could've happened. I just refused to believe it was something so straightforward, I guess. From the way it's looking, it was the twins who suggested they all become robots, and had Esora do the memory download thing for them. (What I don't understand is WHY the twins became robots too when technically only Kaito needs to).

Another thing which is really striking. No one seems to remember who KNOCC is. I mean straight up, it seems that everything about their victory and the incident 10 years ago is being suppressed or covered up. The only people who remember are Esora and Nobel. Not even Bora remembers them.

On the topic of Nobel. Yeah, no I have no idea WHAT he is, still. It's revealed that he's doing (illegal) android research now, though the specifics of that research is still unknown. He says he's doing it for no particular reason, but it's definitely just him being mr. cryptid creachur.

And no, the Stand Alone trio are not aware of their human past, just as KNOCC weren't at the start of the anime. I don't know if robots made from human memories can even boot up while actively remembering all their memories. I guess it might be too shocking to be human and suddenly wake up a robot? Toward near the end of the main story, Kite and Bora get flashes of KNOCC's victory from 10 years ago. In Bora's case, it may be that there's something programmed into the robots to suppress memories from 10 years ago. Meanwhile Kite is starting to realize he has memories of a past Kaito had lived. There has also never been any mention of Kaito's sister in the game. I can only hope she lives a healthy life after that. (Kite's VA even said in an episode of the Technoroid radio that the anime is the first he heard about Nagi, which is hilarious.)

The story of the game so far revolves around a cult that is clearly backed by the robot exclusionists. The specifics aren't important, the most important thing is that they have somehow developed a way to destroy robots through music. They've developed an "android drug", called "Apple". Yes, cool, more religious symbolism. "Apple" basically hijacks into a robot's programming, giving them a feeling of euphoria and freedom (it even overrides their interlock mechanism!), eventually causing a dependency and "killing" the robot permanently. My current theory is, there is a weaker version of this music developed somewhere between Overmind and Unison Heart that erased all memory of KNOCC from every android (bar Nobel).

As you can see, there's a whole lot of unanswered questions, and I'm sorely hoping for a season 2 of the game story. There's a lot of strings to connect and tie, still. I have other (much more sentimental) thoughts on the human themes that Technoroid touches (and about Kaito/Kite), but that'll have to wait for some other time.

The Kids on the Bridge: Explanation

'A young man in a blue jacket steps out onto an empty stage to the swell of pounding piano and lively guitar. He addresses the audience directly, happy that we're here, inviting us to come and listen to the tale he's so eager to tell. With a wave of his arms, a massive train bridge rises from the stage floor, and the city beyond it flickers into being as the man begins his ascent.

At the top of the bridge he is joined by three others - two young women and another man - and greets them joyfully; he sends them off with a flourish, watching as his friends all scurry away to carry out their unknown duties. Then, with another wink at the audience, the man opens what is to become his signature transparent umbrella, swings it over his shoulder, and s smiles as the rain begins to fall.

He is The Boy in the Rain, and he will be our narrator, our bard, our friend and guide, through the heart-breaking, hopeful story of The Kids on the Bridge.' - (Blu Furukawa, The Rhyme City Tymes)

So for anyone familiar with my OC Reina Kageyama, you may have spotted me/her talking about something called 'The Kids on the Bridge,' and how it's her favorite thing in the whole wide world.

But uhhhhh, what is it?

Simply put, 'The Kids on the Bridge' is a (Vocaloid) musical that doesn't actually exist.

It DOES have a full story, though! And a "soundtrack"!

And I will be posting both a link to the playlist, a cast list, and a quick summary all in a separate thing.

For now, here is the simplest explanation I can give for what TKotB is and why it exists...

🎵 Got really into Vocaloid/Utauloid from 2014-2018.

🎵 Came up with a whole fic universe in my head, starting with a GakuKai longfic involving FtM former teen idol Kaito reclaiming his sense of self by rebuilding his career as a post-transition adult. Also polyamory. (Macro-Verse Plot)

🎵 Original longfic had the cast eventually write and produce a cyberpunk-esque stage musical about an android falling in love with a human, called 'WAVE//Project!" - which also has a full story, "soundtrack", and cast. (Micro-Verse Plot #1)

🎵 Rediscovered the playlists and plot outlines in early 2022; accidentally thought too hard about TKotB while making Reina, and now the entire Vocaloid Fic Macro-Verse exists in the same universe as my Pokemon OCs.

What I Liked:

- MC Character Growth

Anastasia really grows from a weak person dreaming of the past to someone who pushes on for a brighter future with her loved ones. She doesn’t ever truly forgive the ones who wronged her in the past (rightfully so), but she casts that aside and lives for what’s coming next. Even in the midpoints of the story, you can feel her determination, will to live, and to save the ones she cares about. even if TEMPEST was billed as more of a revenge story, and there are strong elements of that, serving to drive Anastasia, but the revenge falls to the side in favor of the larger plot.

- Great, expressive sprites

Lucien’s stressed sprite is what I live for. Tyril’s sprites fully express the indignation and outrage he feels, and seeing them enhanced the dialogue immensely, There’s no animation syncing the voiced dialogue, but the wide array of emotive character portraits is more than good enough as a substitue.

- Roses indicating right/wrong choice

Seeing if I made a bad choice right away was very helpful, especially as there’s no “skip to next choice” function. IIRC, it might take a few lines of dialogue to show up.

- CG Gallery + UI

The UI in this game mostly has the same controls as an Otomate game, which is beyond nice as I don’t have to deal with learning a new set of controls while reading. I also appreciated that in the gallery, the game tells you in what chapter the missing CGs are located. FYI, the bad end/good end CGs are both labeled as in the same chapter.

- The Manwha-esque plot

I ADORE otome isekai manwha, where the heroine is reincarnated or sent to her past. The evil, innocent-looking stepsister, horrible fiance, evil stepmother, and hated heroine tropes are in here at full force (at least in the common route) and I loved it. Also, in my opinion, even if TEMPEST didn’t fall into some of my common complaints about this manwha genre, namely when the heroine doesn’t tell her love interests about the reincarnation and when it’s all just a power fantasy.

What I Didn’t:

- No MC Voice

I would have loved to hear Anastasia be outraged in the trials, done with her friends, tender in the romantic moments, or crying in the sadder cutscenes. With the amazing voice cast for even if TEMPEST, I have no doubt Anastasia’s casting would have been knocked out of the park.

- Jumpscare

That was utterly terrifying. I don’t have any particular objection to its inclusion, but I almost dropped my Switch into a bowl of pineapple.

- Typos

There was an issue where the last letter of each sentence got cut off in the displayed text in certain sections where text was displayed over a still image.

- Crashes

I believe my game crashed four or five times. Luckily, I had saved recently so not much progress was lost, but I’ve heard that other players experienced much more frequent crashes. Keep your copy updated!

Final Thoughts:

Definitely play this, though maybe wait for a sale if you aren’t willing to pay $50 for 15-25 hours of playtime. The plot was strong throughout, though I do wish the romance had a little more place in the story. Zenn and Lucien’s routes suffered from a focus on the plot, so I didn’t really feel Anastasia and her LIs getting closer. The epilogues were short and largely unsatisfactory (I hated Zenn’s. Tyril’s I wish had focused more on the character dynamics rather than a cute moment), but the main routes were strong enough that I don’t mind it too much. Though if a fandisc comes out, I’m going to snap it up as soon as possible.

One Punch Man: 2nd Season (2019)

Plot premise: In the wake of defeating Boros and his mighty army, Saitama has returned to his unremarkable everyday life in Z-City. However, unbeknownst to him, the number of monsters appearing is still continuously on the rise, putting a strain on the Hero Association's resources. Their top executives decide on the bold move of recruiting hoodlums in order to help in their battle. But during the first meeting with these potential newcomers, a mysterious man calling himself Garou makes his appearance. Claiming to be a monster, he starts mercilessly attacking the crowd.

The mysterious Garou continues his rampage against the Hero Association, crushing every hero he encounters. He turns out to be the legendary martial artist Silverfang's best former disciple and seems driven by unknown motives. Regardless, this beast of a man seems unstoppable. Intrigued by this puzzling new foe and with an insatiable thirst for money, Saitama decides to seize the opportunity and joins the interesting martial arts competition.

± I love how One Punch Man brings back a lot of characters who were merely in the background in early episodes and choosese when to bring them to the forefront. It's pleasant in that it does feel like each hero has their own story going on while we're just not seeing it until they orbit close enough to Saitama and Genos. [SPOILERS AHEAD]

Saitama's own personal journey gained a little more entertainment value by itself with his existential crisis; His potential spiral into a version of last season's baddie then, amusingly, waylaid by fighter video game loses since he can't lose a real fight. That the ensuing frustration got vented on Centichuro was perfect, since it only survived before because Saitama was busy at the tourney.

Wouldn't it be really interesting if Genos's doctor and target were one and the same? It does however feel unlikely in this kind of anime storytelling. I'm unsure if Genos should keep going the path he thinks he should. He is truly our shonen hero though. :))

The brother yin yang attack was amazing, and possibly one of my favorite fight sequences of the season. <3 I also have a level of understanding and respect for Garou's story and his determination to do it his own way.

High School Girls Rock Out in Mixed-media Project Girls' Fist!!!! New MV "Sayonara My Loneliness"

On the same day as the release of the first volume of is manga new series GT, the Girls' Fist!!!! mixed-media franchise also posted a music video for "Sayonara My Loneliness," the original song performed by the main characters' band, South Matsumoto High Punk Rock Society, in the manga's ninth chapter. The CD singles of the song are also released in two editions today.

The girls' rock band-themed project was launched in June 2018 with the first manga Girls' Fist!!!! illustrated by Bomi on an original story by Kiurian. Its story set in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and centers on four high school girls who form a band to fulfill their dream of performing on stage at a music festival. The first manga was serialized in KADOKAWA's Monthly DenPure Comic (a bonus booklet for Dengeki PlayStation magazine) and released two tankobon volumes. The second series Girls' Fist!!!! GT illustrated by Najimi has been serialized in Dengeki Twitter Magazine.
