If the “love blackout” began on Election Day 2016 (November 8, 2016), today (November 7, 2022) is 2,190 days later. Glitch makes me think there’s a POSSIBILITY the blackout expires today. Alright so first, the numbers. 2190 days is 312 weeks and 6 days. 2191 days is exactly 313 weeks. Also, 2+1+9+1 = 13. So is tomorrow, November 8, a fresh start for them? Because come on, 313 weeks. You know how 13s are lucky for taylor.

This one could be a reach, but: November 8th is 11/8/22. On midnights, track 11 is karma. Track 8 is vigilante shit. So two tracks about revenge. One about how kar(lie)ma loves her and the other about how Taylor helps another woman get revenge… and the track abbreviates to VS. Victoria’s Secret.

Glitch is track 18, so even that kind of works. 11/8? Orrrr, 2190 days -> 11/7/22 and 11+7 = 18. Back to glitch: “Blood moonlit.” Well. How interesting that in the early hours on November 8, there’s a total lunar eclipse and this one is known as a blood moon. This isn’t something that happens THAT frequently, so I’m less inclined to think the timing is a coincidence. “5 seconds later I’m fastening myself to you with a stitch.” November 8 is also the day of very important midterm elections in the US (please vote blue I’m begging), so I don’t expect them to break the internet or whatever tomorrow. Instead of 5 seconds, how about 5 days? 5 days after November 8 is November 13, 2022— the 9th anniversary of their formal introduction at the VS show.

Another reach here: track 9 on midnights is bejeweled. You know, with the music video that with alllll the visual similarities to the show where they were dancing in a snow globe? And the pocket watch that says, “exile expires”? And the ending where Taylor ditches her evil stepmother and step sisters, ditches the guy, and happily burns down the castle? Just saying.

Karlie also posted something a year ago today about the nyc marathon and how she’d be there “next year.” It’s next year! Did she finish the metaphorical marathon?

And then there was that spade message from a long time ago, about when we’ll get the first kaylor candid picture. “Late November.”

My Favourite Songs of 2023 pt. 3: 20 - 11

Carrying on from yesterday’s post: may the penultimate countdown commence!

20. pinkpantheress - Capable Of Love

While Boy’s A Liar was by far the bigger hit, Capable Of Love was the single that captured pinkpantheress at her best this year, combining her sad girl tales of romantic doubt with a beat that goes hard enough to give you a paradoxically huge lift. While i can't help but worry about how terrified she sounds, her super sweet garage pop is a solid favourite of mine and I'll guess I'll just have to reconcile that with my conscience.

19. Jeff Rosenstock - FUTURE IS DUMB

This year’s HELLMODE album saw Jeff in a slightly more reflective mode than usual but FUTURE IS DUMB was a nod to past glories, setting his frustrations about the modern world to dayglo punk pop played fast enough to comfortably sever your head from your body. While the takeaway - “the world doesn’t owe you” - seemed somewhat nihilistic, the general feeling of one man trying to make sense of a collapsing society was as relatable and moving as ever.

18. Black Thought /El Michels Affair - The Weather

On something of a roll after last year’s album with Danger Mouse, Black Thought uses the El Michels band to full effect here as the pair speed up and slow down in perfect coordination on this summeriest of street scenes. Leon Michels works up a blissed out soulscape as the Roots star rhymes with intricacy and precision, by turns laid back and fiercely intense.

17. Aoife Nessa Frances - Fantasy

Grandiose in design and epic in scope, Fantasy (not the Mariah song) takes Aoife’s moody psychpop template and gives it an extraordinary makeover. Decorated with orchestral fantasia, it sounds like the kind of music you might find in a high class opium den and that’s before you even get to Aoife’s velvety swoon of a voice. I honestly didn’t think she had this in her.

16. Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For?

Billie’s second number one was a grower, a pristine piano ballad that managed the tricky business of projecting deep sadness without veering into mawkishness. Bille is ostensibly talking about Barbie (duh), but the lines seem to blur into her own commodification and the notion of becoming “just something you paid for” cuts uncomfortably close to the bone.

15. Caroline Polachek - Dang

While the best songs from the "Desire, I Want To Turn Into You" album were actually from previous years, Polachek finished 2023 with a flourish, issuing a single that was an improvement on every last one of them. Built around a sample that sounds like a cat being strangled and a flash of old Hollywood melody, Dang sounded strange and glitchy but alway compelling. One of the best examples yet of her idiosyncratic vision of pop.

14. Palehound - Route 22 

Palehound’s Eye On The Bat album was their first to really make a dent in me, and Route 22 is both typical of its strengths and a standout on its own merits. Ellen Kempner’s bleary country rock ballad explores the lines between loving someone and the need to be appreciated, with its honesty all the more touching for the beauty of its setting.

13. Wednesday - Chosen To Deserve 

“I was here first!” I cry as I brandish my old Wednesday albums but it’s still a nice feeling to watch the world catch up, as well as interesting to see bands find themselves exalted who wouldn’t have gotten the time of day a few years ago. “Chosen To Deserve” itself is a sweet natured country rocker powered by a bone crunchingly fierce riff, as Karly Hartman’s tales of misspent youth skirt the line between humour and something more uncomfortable.

12. The Mountain Goats - Fresh Tattoo

Jenny From Thebes is an album that requires a little patience but its second single found The Mountain Goats at their most immediate and effective. While it starts life as a breezy narrative ballad, Fresh Tattoo feeds off of its momentum to make a convincing shift to anthemic territory by the last verse. By turns warm, witty and extremely memorable, this is as good as they've ever sounded.

11. Olivia Rodrigo - Get Him Back

Inescapable for months on Radio 1 (where it even had its own jingle), Olivia's love/hate anthem manages to indulge all her best instincts, especially her theatricality and love of 90s guitar rock. Powered by a surprisingly good rap/rock delivery, it’s filled with immensely quotable lines from top to bottom but be sure to seek out the clean version to hear the best one, cos everyone knew that guy was missing a screw!

I would believe Taylor was hooking up with Aaron behind the scenes before I’d believe in kaylor at this point lmao

i mean kaylor is very outlandish now compared to how it was even six months ago.  you have karlie having a baby with josh, taylor becoming way more open with her dedication to joe, it’s time to go nearly just name dropping karlie on a diss track, and karlie’s obvious entanglement with the kushners being brought to a more public stage, taylor living in London and karlie moving to Miami with josh...like if kaylor were on i’d be all for it.  if taylor were singing invisible string about karlie i’d think it was cute.  i would ship it!  but that doesn’t match up with reality like i genuinely just cannot believe in late-stage kaylor.  the idea that taylor and karlie had to go underground due to the election is also kaput because trump is out of office, the kushner reign is over, and you still haven’t gotten any hints of kaylor reconciliation.  

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again - we know what it looks like when taylor swift has a secret gf.  she pretends to be besties with them.  if she isn’t pretending to be besties with the woman in question then they’re not dating.  imagine having a whole ass wife but being forced to live on separate continents from her?  how would she stand going on tour and karlie never being there?  spending a whole pregnancy mostly apart?  how would karlie stand recovering from birth in a hospital, her evil beard posting pics of the child to ig, while Taylor goes up on stage during the most important moment of her career and pretends that she, and their child, don’t exist?

to think kaylor is together right now is to think that taylor is an awful person and karlie is a spineless shill; it’s to be ok with your otp being in an unhealthy and miserable situation, and it’s to ignore every stitch of reality we live in.  

“but karlie danced around in the woods in a cardigan 13 days before folklore was announced” so what??? isn’t it possible that that’s a coincidence? taylor sicced swifties on karlie while she was pregnant with it’s time to go.  the abuse from swifties (which i do not support) got so bad karlie had to block the words kaylor and taylor from her ig comments.  that happened, like in reality, that happened.  even if you think that line isn’t about karlie (it is) you still have to admit taylor knew swifties would think it was.  would she really do that to her wife/lover/girlfriend ever?  never.  if you think that you don’t deserve to stan taylor imo.  she isn’t perfect but one thing i’m certain she’s good at is love and protecting the people she loves.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Sam’s heard it a hundred times, even believed it a few of them.

Right now, clutching the edges of his hospital chair tight enough to leave fingernail imprints in the scratchy plastic, watching Bucky waxen and still and breathing through a tube, he’s pretty sure it’s a bunch of bullshit. Because he’s fine, got a few scrapes and bruises and a knock on the head that didn’t even give him a concussion, nowhere near death’s door, and he feels weaker and more useless than he ever has. Worn out like an old dishtowel. You could hold him up to the light and see right through him.

He keeps thinking back to Steve. All the hours Sam spent sitting at his bedside after they found him half-drowned on the bank of the Potomac, waiting for him to wake up. He held it together pretty good back then, but this is different. The doctors keep saying shit like minimal brain activity and invasive life support and limits of enhanced healing, and Sam knows what that stuff means. Bucky isn’t going to wake up.

In a way, it’s more like the day Riley died, except the whole thing’s happening in slow motion and Sam gets a front row seat to every excruciating inch of that spiral towards the ground. Another person Sam loved, gone before he ever plucked up the courage to say how he felt, because he can fall backwards out of planes and leap off buildings and go toe-to-toe with alien megalomaniacs, but when it comes to letting someone else in on his heart, he’s a fucking coward.

So, yeah. Sam’s lost people before. Riley, his parents, Nat. Steve, who never even said a real goodbye. Karli, who could’ve been good if he’d gotten through to her a little earlier. But this might be the one that finally breaks him.

A hand finds his shoulder, startling him out of his reverie. It’s Rhodes, his face set in a carefully neutral expression that makes Sam want to say something shitty just to wipe it off.

He doesn’t. Rhodes has always been good to him, better than he has to be, and the guy knows what it’s like. He lost a best friend too.

Except, no, he doesn’t know, not really. Nobody does. Sam’s never told them.

“Sam,” Rhodes says, heavily, “you’ve been here for three days, and I hate to say it, but you’re starting to smell like it.”

Sam shakes his head, breathes into his hands.

“At least take a shower, sleep in an actual bed. The doctors–”

“The doctor told me to contact his family, make arrangements,” he hears himself say. His voice is very distant, very flat. “I’m his family.”

“Pepper has people,” Rhodes offers. “If you don’t wanna deal with that stuff, you don’t have to.”

A flash of anger burns in his chest–at the way everyone’s talking about this like a done deal, like it’s already over, and at the same time, at the thought that if he has to organise a, a fucking funeral for Bucky he might want to be hands-off about it, not make sure himself that everything gets done right. It’s a tangled, inchoate mess of feeling, none of which makes it out his mouth. His hands are shaking.

Rhodes squeezes his shoulder. “Go home, Sam. Be with your family.”

He leaves, and the only sound left in the room is Bucky’s mechanical breathing. The bruises on his face have faded away, healing where the damage inside of him couldn’t and leaving him looking unfairly normal. Like a still photograph of himself, except for all the damn equipment keeping him alive.

Sam got wake up you asshole and you’re not allowed to leave me here alone out of his system days ago, and now all he does is reach for Bucky’s hand and squeeze it. Bucky doesn’t squeeze back, doesn’t react at all, not even a flutter of an eyelid, and after a moment Sam lets his hand fall back to his side.

Louisiana means you grow up knowing magic’s real. Sam knew it long before he ever met Wanda or Strange, or saw an alien god opening portals to another world on the TV news. It isn’t some big mystery, and it’s probably the same anyplace you can head out on the water–or up a mountain or into the deeps of a forest–and not see a living soul for hours on end. It just is. You know there are things out there, strange and old and probably best left alone, so you avoid them unless you’re desperate.

Sam’s been desperate before, or thought he was. He got halfway out here after Riley died, before he remembered he preferred physics to folklore and turned the hell around.

Tonight, he isn’t so sure.

There’s a post sticking up from the bank at the edge of the water, probably the remnant of an old dock that’s long since crumbled into the water. Some people claim it’s the signpost of a drowned crossroad, though that doesn’t make a lick of sense geographically.

Either way, what the rumours say is it’s a place to get help when all human means have failed. Come out here in the hour after midnight–the witching hour, when the veil between worlds is thinnest. Take a photograph and a drop of your blood, bury them beside the post, and something will come out of the water and help you. For a price.

Now, Sam scrapes away damp earth with his bare hands, Carlos’s borrowed boat bobbing in the water behind him. Hurried out here so fast he forgot to bring tools. Lucky Carlos left his penknife in there.

The photograph is from Torres’s Polaroid phase. Ankara, he thinks, after a mission. Bucky’s usual scowl has slipped as he crouches to pet one of the ubiquitous street cats (It doesn’t matter if he’s got fleas, Sam, they can’t bite vibranium!) and Sam’s in the foreground, smiling way brighter than he’d realised at the time.

Sam bisects it carefully with the penknife, making sure no part of Bucky is visible on the section he presses into the ground, and slips the other half into his back pocket. Then he grits his teeth and draws the blade across his palm, watches the blood spatter his sunlit face.

After that, he waits.

It’s almost peaceful out here for a while, just the insect noises of the night and the plashing of the water and the sound of his own breathing. The minutes tick down toward the end of the witching hour, and he almost convinces himself this isn’t gonna work.

And then.

It’s like the air and the silence thicken, a veil drawn between him and the rest of the world. Each breath feels a little harder, the night heat heavy on his skin and a chill somewhere beneath it. A sound reaches his ears from the edge of the water. A quiet splash, and a drag of wet fabric, and a shape resolves itself out of the darkness.

She’s like the swamp made flesh. Water-weed green and dripping from head to toe, fingers slender and reaching as cypress roots, eyes feu-follet balls of light in the mossy mass of her face.

“Oh, sweetheart.” Her voice is a wet rattle like a dying breath, the sympathy in it startlingly out-of-place. “I could feel your pain miles away.”

Sam grits his teeth and draws himself to his feet. He forces himself to look her in the eyes, but there’s a wrongness about the light that burns there that makes it an effort, keeps making him want to lower his gaze. “Can you help him?” he demands. “Bring him back?”

“Help him?” says that voice. “Or help you?” Her hand comes to rest over his heart, skinny fingers splayed, and he tries not to flinch. “He isn’t the one suffering.”

His throat feels tight. “Does it matter?”

A sludgy croak of a sound. It takes Sam a moment to realise it’s her laugh. “Maybe not.” She regards him steadily. “But you’ve survived worse than this. You’d survive it again.”

It’s the kind of statement that ought to be encouraging, but the way she says it, it’s perfectly neutral, like she’s observing that there’s rain on the way, or it’s Tuesday.

The thing is, she’s right. Sam knows she is. He pulled himself back together, piece by painful piece, after Riley died. He learned to fly solo. He rebuilt his life after the Blip and talked himself around to trusting his own judgement after Steve waltzed off to the past. Now, he’s gotten used to having Bucky at his side, in his life, watching his six in the field and teasing him over dinner, but he could learn to live without it. Fly a little more carefully, trust Torres to have his back, spend more time with Sarah and the boys and the neighbours to fill the silence. He’d be almost whole again, eventually.

But godfuckingdammit, he is sick of being strong.

“Didn’t come out here for daily affirmations,” he says. “Can you help me or not?”

She inclines her head. “You can’t claim I talked you into this.”

“So you’ll do it?” He takes a deep breath. “What’s your price?”

She shrugs, trailing a hand down his arm and crouching to dig into the ground where he buried his photograph. It’s damp and dirt-stained when she unearths it, but she smiles anyway. “You’ll owe me. That’s all.”

“Owe you what?” But even as he asks, he knows the answer doesn’t matter. He’ll promise anything if it means a do-over, a chance to get it right this time, say all the things he should’ve said to Riley way back when, the things he should’ve said to Bucky months ago.

“I’ll know when I need it.” She tucks Sam’s photograph away somewhere in the folds of her garment. “Seal it with a kiss.”

Her mouth tastes like swamp water, brackish and bitter. Sam swallows down bile. And at the same time, he feels a creeping sensation like the water itself wrapping around him, twining roots around his heart, pulling him under like a gator’s death roll. He fights for breath, lungs filling up with it, tears springing to his eyes, darkness crowding his vision.

As abruptly as it crept up on him, it’s gone. He sucks in a huge breath, bending over, hands on his thighs, and when he comes back to himself, she’s gone.

By the time he gets back to town, he has three missed calls. One from the hospital, one from Rhodes, and one from–

His heart leaps in his chest. He’s on a plane to DC within the hour.

At the specialist treatment facility, nobody stops him to ask for ID or what he’s doing here. He finds Bucky sitting up in bed, drinking orange juice through a straw and looking bitchy about it. His face lights up like Christmas when Sam walks in, that wide unashamed smile, and Sam aches with realising how much he’s missed it.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t here,” he says.

Bucky shakes his head. “Rhodes told me the docs thought I was a goner,” he says. “Sent you home to plan my funeral. Don’t know that I could’ve stood being here, either.”

Sam exhales dizzily. “Yeah, well. Shoulda known better with your stubborn old ass. What’d you do, annoy the shit out of the Grim Reaper until he got sick of you?”

“Something like that. Guess I gotta thank that shitty knock-off serum for something, huh.” There’s an edge to his voice, like always when this stuff comes up, and Sam gets it, he does. Owing your life to something you hate is complicated.

He tries not to think about how much more complicated it would be if Bucky knew the truth.

“Hey,” he says instead, “don’t think you get to make a habit of this.” He tries to sound stern, but the tears pricking at his eyes make it hard. “Three days sitting on the crappy plastic chairs they got in here, I thought my ass was gonna fall off.”

Bucky smiles up at him, crooked, a little looser. “Now that’d be a real tragedy.”

Sam’s breath catches in his throat, heartbeat skittering. But shit, if he’s in the hole to some creepy-ass swamp goddess for who knows what kind of favour, or maybe his immortal soul, he’s damn well gonna make it count.

So he ignores the plastic chair and perches on the edge of the mattress, close enough to smell antiseptic and orange juice and feel Bucky’s warmth through his hospital gown.

(Roots wrapped around his heart, foul water on the back of his tongue, shapes moving in the depths.)

San leans in, telegraphing his intent, Bucky’s eyes fastened on his mouth. Presses their lips together, soft.

“About damn time.” Bucky sighs into the kiss, resting his forehead against Sam’s; and after a moment, Sam tastes only oranges.

So, either Liz is lowkey ripping off Taylor’s work or she’s trying to signal that she was the muse for IKYWT. However, considering Liz is deliberately trying to keep her image separate from Taylor, it doesn’t make any sense that she would try and rip her off. Of course, it could just be a big coincidence...

30 September 2017 - In an interview with The Young Folks, Liz says that STFU and Hold Me is about “getting to that point in a relationship where you’re sick of going around and around talking about the same issue with your partner and it’s time to wave the white flag,” Huett says. “We’ve all been there.”

Of the lyrics “I’m coming from a line of problems / I was born and I became a product” Liz says “I’m not exactly the most polished person. I’d rather be real than perfect and sometimes that means I say things that make people uncomfortable or act out in relationships and test limits, etc… I’m an honest mess but I believe I can and should be loved in light of that. :)”

I still think this song was written about the end of her relationship with Bryan, but it’s still interesting to see how Liz describes herself in relationships.

27 October 2017 - Liz releases H8U

This is another song that I think was written about Bryan. The lyrics reference taking another woman to a Tom Petty concert (Liz LOVES Tom Petty) and generally moving on quickly with another woman, which seems apt for the Bryan/Jillian situation going on.

HOWEVER, the lyrics also reference “our first date two years ago,” which doesn’t make any sense, since Liz and Bryan didn’t break up until 2016 and were together since early 2013. So it could maybe be lyrically about Taylor.

I do think the MV makes a deliberate Taylor reference, though, with the interrupting the wedding scene. Taylor famously had Liz dress as the Bridezilla on the Speak Now album art:

And, at the end of the H8U MV, Liz DOES kiss the blonde bride on the mouth after interrupting her wedding... which is... INTERESTING (especially since Liz is dressed in full RED the whole MV):

I don’t think it’s a stretch to presume Liz could’ve reversed their roles here. IDK.

Based on the “two years and counting” line, as well as the line about a washer and dryer of guitar picks, I’m inclined to believe this is another song about Bryan. 

However, it is a really similar sentiment to that Civil Wars song Liz posted back when her and Taylor first ended things, and the line about running to get friends on a side when fighting is very similar to the “you go talk to your friends, talk to my friends talk to me” in WANEGBT and the image in Battle/Let’s Go of all their friends standing around watching them fight. Could go either way.

That’s not her fault. So either this is about another breakup (I’d guess Taylor, based on the lyric parallels), or she’s just very very self-loathing and won’t let herself think it’s Bryan’s fault (which both H8U and Nothing Personal don’t suggest to me).

25 November 2016 - Liz posts a video on her IG story about Taylor at the VMAs.

6 December 2019 - Liz talks about That’s What You get with Earmilk and gives an interesting quote: 

Huett explains, “This song is about facing myself after a brutal season of running from it... I made a self-destructive choice that hurt someone I really value. The angle of the chorus is really sort of a letter to me after that first long look in the mirror. It SUCKED. However, in owning my shit (and sharing this song) my hope is that listeners might apply the sad lesson without having to learn the hard way, or, if they’ve ever found themselves in the regretful position I was once in, I hope this song can at least make them feel less alone."

This is SO DIFFERENT fro mhow her relationship with Bryan ended, but matches up so well with Liz getting help and owning her shit after spiraling in 2012.

24 July 2020 - Folklore drops. Two of the songs are written by the mysterious William Bowery. One of those songs is Betty -- a popular nickname for Elizabeth. Liz tweets at Taylor about the 1 because all of Taylor’s exes wanna think that song is about them.

So, IN CONCLUSION: Liz got help and worked through her shit and they’re on good terms now. They were possibly working on something together in 2015, although that never saw the light of day as far as we know. Liz seems to maybe be referencing Taylor in her music and MVs, but there’s no way to know for sure. Better Than Revenge on the Speak Now Tour was an iconic moment of sapphic energy, and maybe, just maybe, when Taylor re-records her masters, Liz will sing backup for her again.

We keep talking about how good of a person Sam is, down to his core, and that's definitely true, but I don't think we've considered where those values that make him Captain America come from.

I'm not going to focus on his big, saving the world, talking to people who could kill him moments because we know he's a hero for that. I'm focusing on the small, every day things that we overlook in the grand scheme of things.

In the first episode, we see Sam and Sarah take food to the homeless. From the way the scene plays out, this seems to be something that Sarah (and Sam when he's home) do regularly. Sarah, who seems to be having financial struggles, still manages to find enough food to feed people who need more than her.

Then, in the latest episode, Sarah fixes her son's lunches and makes sure to tell AJ to make sure that two kids at school get a sandwich because she knows that they would go without otherwise. Sam mentions how his mom used to do the same thing. Then, he starts calling in favors to people who his parents used to help out, and a whole town comes out.

Now, I got the vibe from the people in the town that we very briefly met that these people would've come out and help regardless of if Sam called in a favor from how his parents used to help. People who aren't that good don't come out and help because of some favor their friend did for them years ago.

In conclusion, Sam Wilson became the incredibly level-headed, big hearted, kind person he is because those values were instilled in him from a very young age from an entire community of people with the same traits, and I can't wait to see if we'll get a reaction from more of the community to their own son being the true Captain America.

I want Marvel to film Rogers: the Musical in a Hamilton esque manner and put it on Disney+ so I can watch it anytime I want, along with the Hawkeye show.

I like how Sam being a counselor is being written as part of his characterization and not just a fun fact about him. In his first scene with Steve, you can see him use his skills he's learned in counseling to get Steve to trust him enough to get him to open up. He can see Steve start to open up but then he turns to go, and Sam starts talking about something they can both understand--the softness of their bed after being in war. It's simple and it's something that gets Sam an in with Steve.

Then, we see him de-escalate Bucky several times in TFATWS; for instance, the scene where Zemo has the book. Sam starts relating it to Steve in an attempt to distract Bucky from wanting to snap Zemo's neck. He also talks to Bucky like he's a person and not a bomb about to go off. If Sam wasn't as close to Bucky as he is, Sam would actually be the perfect type of therapist for Bucky. He knows when to push and when to back off. He knows when to talk to Bucky about his struggles and when to distract him. He knows when to handle Bucky with care but also knows that he doesn't have to handle him with kid gloves.

Sam explicitly mentions that he knows how to talk to Karli because he used to counsel soldiers who've experienced trauma. He almost had her on his side too when Walker came in. Sam spoke to her like an equal, getting on her level, used his body language to convey that he wasn't a threat. All of this is exactly why she wants him on his side.

Sam is an incredibly level-headed, kind-hearted, people person, which I'm willing to bet is exactly why he decided to become a counselor after coming home from his deployment. And the fact that someone who understands people this well and is this good of a person will soon be in the forefront as one of the leads of the MCU makes me really happy.

Guys...has it occurred to you yet that Taylor the planner™️ laid the ground for TWO possible narratives of Kaylor going forward depending on the result of the election? One route is the continued “exile”, the other is a “reconciliation” (reunion). folklore + evermore + their socials/pr game in 2020 left enough room for either narrative to be rolled out in 2021.

The former narrative I believe was going to be “Karlie and Taylor had a fling, then they later had a falling out. But Taylor never moved on fully”. This was supported by Taylor sending exile to radio on Kk’s birthday and the way she explained it (two ex-lovers met up after a long time and still talks over each other.), “Peter losing Wendy” (Martha IG kk liked) and the love lost theme in Cardigan and August (both have a bunch of very obvious KK clues. Taylor’s explanation for august in interviews fits 100% with this Kaylor had a fling back in 2014-2015 narrative. And betty the title the whole song, lol. And the storm scene in Cardigan is designed to make people think it’s about 2016 when the “fallout” as well as a bunch of shit happened.) Now think about the series of confusing af SM actions KK took around folklore release and the Kaykor articles that followed...literally pushing down everyone’s throat the story that Kaylor dated and they broke up. Refreshing Kaylor for everyone when swifties almost forgot about KK. As a result? Many swifties came to admit they were more than friends. I believe this narrative would have played out if Tr*mp had won the election. It would have taken years for the remaining part to complete: Years of continued 0 public interactions. Taylor broke up with J, as she never got over Karlie, and Kaylor eventually rekindled their flame. Evermore also has a bunch of songs that support this narrative. rwylm, dorothea, coney island, ittg (the cr**k part).

This first narrative is literally already the consensus on main among swifties, G*ylors and ex-K*ylors.

But there were events that poked holes (easily overlooked and can be explained away by trashing KK.) in this narrative. KK’s cardigan video 13 days before folklore release. (How did she know?) Her posting a K*ylor tweet on Dec 13th on IG. Taylor pushing “no feud” articles after the bonus tracks drop and the recent E!News article bringing up the squad and showing a vsfs kaylor picture. I don’t feel comfortable sharing more observations/thoughts on second narrative, as it’s all very delicate. But thought I’d share this theory about the two narratives that may help people make sense of the confusing and contradictory events since folklore.

Additional evidence for the TWO narratives theory: 1) During the Apple Music interview Taylor herself literally said the bonus tracks are a second ending to the stories told in folklore+evermore, whereas evermore is the official closing track full of hope. 2) the chapters: “dropped your hands while dancing” EP is literally the first narrative (hoax being a very apt closer), while the “forever is the sweetest con” EP is...Kaylor confirmation.

Pro: I have said I think that is the narrative they want to play out it protects the beards the previous bearding. Years ago you couldn’t even utter that “Kaylor was a thing” and now Swiffers are coming around. The 1 I definitely think people will associate with Karlie and will be used later as a lightbulb moment for Swifties that kk is the 1. Curious to hear your second narrative when/if you’re ready.
