“He might have been a rake and a rogue—he might still be a rake and a rogue—but clearly his behavior to those ends did not define the man. And the only objection Kate had to his marrying Edwina was... She swallowed painfully. There was a lump the size of a cannonball in her throat. Because deep in her heart, she wanted him for herself.”

To Catch A Viscountess by mrygm
Fandom : Bridgerton (TV)
What if Kate never heard Anthony's speech at Lady Danbury's Conservatory Ball?
Anthony Bridgerton is determined to find himself a wife, having rejected the current season's debutants as anything but suitable, his hope that Her Majesty, Queen Charlotte will choose an Incomparable of the season - a Diamond - and save him the trouble of choosing. For the last thing he wants is a love match. Only, he cant stop thinking about a certain lovely, and sharp witted young lady, whose name he does not even know...
Kate Sharma is interested in just one thing: Help her sister find a nobleman who'll love her and provide for her the life that she deserves. And if she, Kate, gains a reputation as a thorny spinster in the process, well then, it's not as if she ever entertained notions of marrying herself. All of her hopes and dreams were for Edwina alone. And then a certain gentleman rode into her life, most unwelcome, and for just a single moment, or many, perhaps, she wondered what it might be like to find her own true love.
Edwina Sharma is resolved: She can see that there is something between her sister and the handsome, charming Viscount. And she will not allow either of them to ignore it.
Anthony Bridgerton x Kate Sharma, 100 - 200k words, Enemies to friends to lovers, Alternate universe
Ongoing as of 2023 - 04 - 26
Thoughts: Read this if you wished that the sister relationship between Edwina and Kate hadn't been butchered by the show for the sake of drama

I started following you because of Amber and all I know about bridgerton is that I couldn’t care enough to finish the first season but absolutely loved season 2 but now I kinda want to read the books because we have similar taste in all the things you reblog lol should I read them? The fandom seems to be a wild ride
Aaaw I love this intersection of interests with a fellow Amber supporter!
Most of the time I'm mad at Shondaland for the way they handled s02, but every now and then I come across someone from the “i didn't care much for s01 but loved s02” crowd and I'm reminded that even sidelined Simone and Jonathan took the world by storm as Kate and Anthony because that's the power they hold and can't help smiling 🥰
As a genre regency romance (and historical romance in general) can be a mixed bag cause they sometimes have misogynistic elements that can be off-putting, especially when it comes to older books. Personally, I'm into Julia Quinn's writing for the banter and family camaraderie but she's not an exception in that aspect– I think she's improved in later books, but in the Bridgerton saga it's more notable. In general though I think they're worth a go!
That being said I wouldn't read the books in order. Since you loved Kathony TVWLM (#2) is definitely the place to start. I don't think you'll have an issue since you're already familiar with the Bridgerton universe and while the series follows a chronological order (except maybe books 4-6 that roughly take place over the same period of time), each book can be read as a standalone, and plenty of fans started with Anthony and Kate's book after watching the show. It's the most popular Bridgerton book for a reason and unlike s02 you'll get way more married!Kathony and you'll adore Edwina, who's just the sweetest human being (and no one deserved her more than Kate Sharma but the producers just hate my girl I guess 😭)
Then I'd go for Francesca's book (#6)– a character whose existence you may or may not be aware of from the adaptation because she appears for all of 1:40 minutes, but I guarantee you'll love once reading When He Was Wicked (not to mention you'll fall in love with the book's male lead!).
An Offer From a Gentleman (#3) is Benedict's book and features one of my favourite female characters in the series that we've yet to see on screen. Some people are not much into it because book!Benedict is...not always the best, but having watched the show before reading it I was already biased because of Luke Thompson's rendition of Benedict so let's just say that I was willing to overlook certain aspects of it lmao. It's also a Cinderella retelling which, again, some people aren't much into but I personally liked a lot!
I also have a soft spot for Hyacinth and Gregory's books (#7 and #8).. Hyacinth is pretty much my favourite Bridgerton sister, my girl is just an agent of chaos. And Gregory's book is hilarious, not to mention contains the most adorable domestic!Kathony tidbits.
The weakest books for me are #1, #4, #5, so I'd leave them for last. Daphne's book infamously contains a rape scene which is however not acknowledged as such (while partcipating in the sex act after being roused, Simon is blackout drunk at the time). Romancing Mr Bridgerton (#4) is actually a fan favourite, but I personally found it kind of bland. It could be because I'm not crazy about show!polin as a couple or individual characters so I went into it with a bias? In the books Colin is supposed to be this charming rake character (which is definitely not reflected in the show lmao) who's always meddling in his siblings' love lives (imo he was annoying af in his own book but his appearances in his siblings' stories are kinda cute). Penelope is way more likeable in the books, since her girlboss, destroying-people's-lives-for-personal-interest persona is mostly a show invention (though she's still LW in the books). Eloise's story (#5) was the biggest disappointment for me because the show made a big deal out of trying to give Eloise this “feminist” characterization while in her book she pretty much goes and gets herself compromised with a stranger (who's an asshole that treats her like a nanny/sex object combo) because she's dreading the prospect of becoming a spinster. On the plus side, it has a hilarious scene of the Bridgerton brothers and domestic Benedict/Sophie!
Feel free to share your thoughts if you end up reading (any of) them!

In the Bridgertonverse, would Mary be asked for her approval/blessing for a Kate/Anthony betrothal? She has not put herself forward as head of the family, nor is she in a position to bestow a dowry on Kate. Curious what your thoughts would be. (this is for Show Mary, not Book Mary).
Thanks for this ask anon and for waiting. This is such an interesting ask, so I really appreciate and am flattered that you thought to ask me! Shoutout to Trivia @hptriviachamp for helping me figure out how much authority widows in HR have :D
Okay so the Bridgerverse - especially the world building of the show version is a mess. At least the books' were somewhat historically accurate so I shall also offer you those facts later.
Within the show, by right she should be their head of household because the show Cowpers are a good example but Lady Cowper seems to run the show so by that predence, Mary is the head of the household and should be running things like Anthony is.
I think the frustrating thing about Show!Mary is that they made her so absent, they didn't even bother establishing who officially is the Head of Household for the Sharmas. Because Kate acts like she is and then when they arrived in London, Lady D takes over for them. So it's quite murky.
However, Trivia just informed me that despite her absence and lack of assertion in S2, Mary is still the official head of household for the Sharmas, as much as a widow can be. She doesn't have the same flexibilities or authority that a patriarch of a family would because hello Regency sexism, but Anthony would have approached her for a blessing of sorts. Triv helped shed more light on this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Within the HR universe of rules and precedents, she cited Secrets of a Summer Night which has Annabelle in a similar family situation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I imagine this is how it would have gone down with Anthony and Mary (God we deserved to see that - we got all the scenes with Violet and Anthony why not Mary fussing about her girls??)
And while it was said that Kate dealt with the finances, they did have some money that could have passed off as a small dowry for Kate even though we all know Anthony would have waived it because he loves his wife.
All in all, Mary does have the power and enough money to give her blessing and provide a respectable dowry for Kathony but we just never saw that cos the writers suck.
Thanks for reading yall and again to the anon for a great and interesting ask!

In every possible universe Colin steals Mary's leftovers from Anthony. I would like to see Mr Sharma turning a little green when his son's in law younger brother follows his wife around like a puppy asking to be fed🤣🤣
Okay but all of the Bridgertons being like
"Hey um... Anthony... are you... going to Kate's for dinner tonight?"
And Anthony's like "Yeah... Why?"
"Oh no reason."
And as soon as he leaves the room there's a huddle like "Okay, we need to get those left overs."
because Anthony hoards them like a jealous dragon.
Tom Sharma liked to think he wasn't a very jealous person. It didn't bother him that the man who ran that stall at the farmer's market always winked at Mary, didn't bother him that their neighbour Bill's eyes always followed Mary down the street. He knew Mary loved him. They'd been together for 15 years, they had two daughters, and honestly Mary never did anything but roll her eyes. But even Tom had his limits, and it turned out his limit was a punk named Colin Bridgerton.
The first time Tom met Colin Bridgerton was at some school function or another. Honestly, Tom was incredibly proud of both of his daughters, he really was, but sometimes the amount of awards they won and functions they attended were exhausting, so he'd gone to this one and been milling around with the other parents when Kate's boyfriend Anthony had sidled over a kindly looking woman smiling brightly at them from his side.
"Mr and Mrs Sharma, I'd really like to introduce you to my Mum, Violet Bridgerton."
And before Violet had even gotten her greeting out a younger boy, barely a teen, had popped out of nowhere, a cheeky grin on his face and said,
"Mrs. Sharma it's so great to meet you, I'm a huge fan."
"Don't be rude, Colin." Anthony had muttered at the boy, clearly his brother from the striking resemblance.
Colin looked unbothered as Mary stared curiously down at him. "Oh?"
And they ballsy little kid actually kissed the back of her hand. "Your cooking is incredible. Superb, actually maybe."
"Oh aren't you sweet." Mary said kindly, and Tom wouldn't have thought anything of it were it not for the fact Mary bloody well blushed.
"You'll have to excuse Colin." Violet said, a little sharply, smiling at Mary. "Anthony's visits to your house always cause a bit of excitement when he brings home left overs, it's on for young and old I caught Colin with a container of pakora at 2am last week."
Anthony scowled, "I knew that was you! You told me it was Frankie!"
Colin looked unabashed, "And I'm not sorry about it, they were heavenly, Mrs. Sharma, I think my soul left my body."
Mary laughed, sending an annoyed little twitch through Thomas as Anthony said,
"I was saving those!"
Mary hummed, "I'll tell you what, Colin, why don't you and Anthony come over for dinner on Saturday. I'll show you how to make them."
The ballsy little kid ran off whooping delightedly.
Violet rolled her eyes, "I'm so sorry about him."
"Oh it's fine, he's sweet." Mary smiled gently, nudging Tom to agree who could barely let out a huff. Tom hadn't cared at all for the way he was looking at Mary.
Violet hummed, "I have to say, your Kate is such a lovely girl, when I met her it was very easy to see why Anthony had been so taken with her for so long."
"Mum!" Anthony hissed indignantly, his cheeks bright red, And Tom tried to focus on the Bridgerton boy he liked.
"Mr. Sharma I'm really sorry about him." Anthony said as he watched his brother potter round the kitchen stuck to Mary's side curiously watching every thing she did like the world's biggest puppy. And it wasn't that Tom didn't think Mary deserved the praise. to the contrary, Tom believed she deserved much more praise than she got. She was an excellent cook, she was kind, and so beautiful it made his heart stop and she had loved Kate just as much as he did from the very second she'd laid eyes on her as a 2 year old with a wild mop of curly hair. But it was the fact it was coming from this bottomless pit of a teenage boy.
"That's alright, Anthony, we can't pick our family."
"No, we can't." Edwina said, eying Kate distastefully as she stood braiding Anthony's shaggy hair back a bright smile on her face. God they were sweet together. At this point Tom wasn't sure who'd be more upset if they broke up, him or Kate.
Kate rolled her eyes at her sister as she finished the braid, tugging Anthony away who grinned, following Kate like a puppy. Honestly, what was it with these boys.
Colin flopped into the vacant seat seconds later, a predinner plate of samosas in his hand. "You, Mr. S are a lucky Man."
As if he didn't know that. "Thanks Colin, I know."
"Anthony's really lucky to have Kate." Colin said after several seconds of silence.
Tom bristled again, how dare he try to use Kate to get on his good side, and bloody hell it was working. "Well, I like her, she's turning out alright. Must be all Mary."
Colin chuckled. "We all love Kate. Between her and my brother Ben's girlfriend Sophie, I think my mum would rather exchange them for three of us." Tom hummed as Colin continued. "And Honestly, Anthony's such a loser, we're not sure how he managed it."
And tom snapped his paper shut, Portia Featherington's words from a month or so ago echoing in his head, Anthony's face when he'd over heard I'm not sure why you're letting your Kate run around with a boy like that useless Anthony Bridgerton. He'll be dead in a ditch at 19 and She'll be ruined.
"Your brother's a good kid, Colin." Tom said firmly, "One day he'll be an excellent Man and I'm very proud to have him in this family." Because, yes, Anthony Bridgerton was a young man Tom would be very proud to have his daughter be with forever.
Colin's eyes widened, "I know that, Sir. And I'm glad you do as well." and just for a moment, Tom stopped disliking Colin quite so much.
And then he opened is mouth again, chocked full with Mary's cooking and said , "I guess I'll have to marry Eddie to get in myself hey."
And before Tom could get it out himself Edwina had levelled him with a look Tom was sure was meant to be withering and said "Not on your life, Colin."
And Tom had never been prouder of his girls, or felt as stupidly jealous of a 14 year old boy than when Mary swept over the next minute a plate piled high setting it in front of Colin and passing him a much smaller plate.

Hi…I’m so excited for the next season…I’m a biracial woman half black and half white. I don’t fully understand the situation regarding the Sharmas Indian heritage and how it relates to the show? Also why is it negative in peoples eyes? I would absolutely love to be educated on this.
Hi!
Well, to be honest it's not entirely clear to me what Kate and Edwina's backstory is precisely. But Charithra described them as immigrants, which may mean they were born and raised in India. However, Netflix described Mary as the daughter of an earl, so...I don't have a good answer for you! Perhaps both Mary and Kate's father were British-Indian and fled to India after their not-socially acceptable marriage (if Kate's father is the tradesman Netflix mentioned Mary marrying). It's all a bit confusing until we have more info/see the season
As for why people see any of this as negative, I'll just speak for myself (more under the cut).
They've made clear in recent interviews that they are changing Kate and Edwina's backstory so that they were raised (and maybe born?) in India. The problem with that is the questions it raises - and how the white showrunner decides to answer those questions.
First off, during the period during which this season of Bridgerton was set, England was engaged in violent colonization of what was India at the time via the East India Company.  So the first question is - how is the show going to address this? And how are they going to reconcile Anthony's role as a peer in parliament and the role they played in overseeing the EIC?  And for that matter, if Mary's father was an Earl, he too was involved in governing the EIC. The show has said that the Sharmas are arriving from Bombay, so obviously colonization is happening in the Bridgerton universe as that name originated from the British. And then my mind instantly wants to know what Kate and Edwina think and feel about the EIC and how that pertains to them arriving in London - and wow, let me tell you, this is not what I want to think about while watching a romance show.
And then the next question I have is - why have they made the change that Kate and Edwina were raised in India? What was the thinking behind that and why was that necessary for the plot? It's not that there's anything wrong about being raised in India of course (like most of my family was!). But this makes me worry about the potential of Otherizing Kate and Edwina - or even exoticizing them because they're from India. Charithra has described them growing up 'more freely' in India. I don't even know what that means. But it leaves me unsettled, to say the least.
I wouldn't be as nervous if I had faith in the creative team behind this show to tackle complex issues of race and ethnicity - but they don't deserve that faith. They showed in season 1 that they are not capable or smart enough or sensitive enough to write about race. They could have just indulged in fantasy in Season 1 but instead, they set in-universe rules that showed that race mattered until the King married a Black woman, apparently destroying racism.
Bridgerton could have just had an inclusive cast and been purely escapist but instead they decided to take a half-step and say 'there was racism and now it's gone. But also....people of color might feel like they're on shaky ground still.'  It's just very half-assed. Why acknowledge and weave this into the plot if you're not going to treat the subject with the thought and consideration it deserves? Those few lines they had Lady Danbury say just threw everything off kilter for me. And this is how I feel about how they may treat India and colonization - that they'll decide they want to acknowledge it, potentially even explain it away. And it will be, once again, very half-assed. And I'll say this - leave it a white man to think it's ok to say 'love cured racism' and leave it at that and walk away.
I don't know if this made much sense, but I hope it did. I'll add this - I love period dramas and I love quite a few romance novels as well. And I've never gotten to see someone who looks like me in them - more than that, I'm a dark-skinned, South Indian American woman - and let me tell you, I definitely don't even see people who look like me in Indian cinema (including in Tollywood). So it means a lot to see Simone and Charithra in Bridgerton. And I really just want to enjoy them in a romance without having to think about and question and weigh colonialism and racism and their ramifications like people of color have to do every day of our lives

Did you like the book or s2 of bridgerton better?
okay. i've gathered some thoughts after watching s2 (twice!) and while i adored the kate and anthony scenes and their amazing chemistry any time they were in a scene together, i feel like i've finally figured out why i didn't like the season very much
this post got quite long so i'll put it under a cut but tl;dr kate and anthony and the sharmas in general deserve more and better in what was supposed to be their season, but if you watch every single kate and anthony scene out of context in youtube compilations like i've been doing, it was amazing
i think this season's drawback was in structuring itself around a slow burn plotline
and that's so sad to say bc i adore slow burns!! they’re amazing! but the problem with s2 is that that the slow burn plotline doesn't reach a Point. a Peak. a sparkling, earth shattering moment where the build-up, the intense glances, the snide comments, the tension at every turn is finally Worth it
and i think this is bc every kate and anthony scene is always cut short or overshadowed by other useless plotlines in the first half of the season that continue to be dragged out to their boring conclusions in the second half of the season (like the featherington plotline! why! also giving eloise a love interest when she should've been way more focused on a n y t h i n g else like idk sneaking into university classrooms just to sit in on the lectures or seeing her spend more time self-studying wollstonecraft or someone to figure out her own ideas and her own identity rather than the theo plotline that didn't go anywhere or say anything meaningful since they were too busy juggling so many other plotlines in one season that only spans 8 episodes)
so by the time we get to the bee scene we think it'll pick up and we will actually get some forward movement into their story, but no. it just continues to move into this "we can't! but we want to! but we can't!" storyline that doesn't g o anywhere. and yes, you could argue that the pall mall scene also showed them understanding each other and progressing forward in their relationship, but that scene just shows how similar they are as opposed to becoming vulnerable with each other
which is why the library scene rewrite! just made me so upset! bc they gave anthony the panic attack that kate has in the book during the bee scene, and as a result, we don't have a single moment of understanding between the two, we don't get kate's backstory in flashbacks that would lend her any ounce of the same depth and character exploration that anthony gets surrounding his father, and we don't get any forward movement in their relationship or their progression as individuals bc they just spend the scene staring at each other rather than expressing their fears, their relationship to their family, all under the lack of pretense they are allowed to have in this empty room in the dead of night with the rain and thunder drowning out their conversation from the entire world. all of kate's backstory is rewritten and the parts they do tell you are told to you in little lines or long speeches as opposed to Showing you her trauma (which mirrors anthony's trauma!) and the weight of responsibility that she feels as an elder sibling (which again! mirrors anthony's trauma and shows you w h y they would be so compatible instead of just showing these long, intense stare downs and almost kisses and hoping the audience can read in between the lines) so they give her zero depth, nuance, or complexity to her character by getting rid of her panic attack and backstory and her eventual re-grounding like! come on! a strong woman who is so sure of herself and the world and what she wants out of it while hiding her true fears and feelings from everyone else who breaks down from the weight of responsibility but continues to keep going bc she would do anything for her family! come on!!! that would’ve been amazing to see!
and this goes for the rest of the sharmas as well. they rewrote edwina's character and didn't use mary in the story at all because they made kate into a mother figure but feeling responsible for your sister doesn't mean that you needed to sideline mary entirely! she's still a key figure she still knows the world of balls and courtship and could've easily added to their complex family dynamic but instead they barely use her and she's missing from so many crucial scenes and she could've totally teamed up with lady danbury and violet in all their antics!
which takes me back to the slow burn. i feel like i could've handled the season had kate and anthony gotten together in episode 7 instead of the last 15 (?) minutes of the finale. it felt like they wrote the entire season around the wedding episode but every scene in the episode that isn't centered around kate and anthony and edwina is so boring. everyone is just standing around waiting to see if the wedding will happen (also don't get me started on the love triangle thing). they could've easily had the wedding be half of the episode (if they wanted it that badly), had the ball sequence where everyone is dancing at the bridgerton's empty place at the end of the episode, and had edwina realize that kate and anthony clearly love each other which is evident from how happy they are how they're dancing so freely together and she would back away since she loves kate and would do anything for her (and then find herself a bookish nerd to read and discuss and recommend novels to now or in the next season bc she deserves a break)
then! the finale would be open to have a small, intimate wedding with their loved ones (a direct contrast from the showy over-the-top wedding while showing how much kate and anthony care for each other rather than what the anyone else thinks of them), allowed them to have their wedding night, and even kept the very last scene of the finale where they're at aubrey hall together trying out their new roles as a couple, so we would've gotten plenty of them being "enemies" but we still would've had an entire episode of them being "lovers" which is just as important in an enemies to lovers plot
the slow burn would've built up to something! a happy, prolonged conclusion where you get to revel in all these fun moments of longing and nerves and anticipation for kate and anthony's wedding and then the actual wedding itself!
and yes you could still make room for the lady whistledown part 2 reveal and breakup between pen and eloise in there but no annoying featherington plotline to distract you from kate and anthony living their best lives being in love and hot for each other for an entire episode (and colin and benedict can still have their forward movement too to get to the next seasons)
but with how the season plays out, you just cut from the "i love you" "i love you, too" scene immediately to the rest on the ton watching fireworks, and then another cut to kate and anthony in bed already married! we were supposed to see them married! we should've seen then happy and in love for longer than a handful of minutes at the end of the season! (tho i will say the direction in the last two episodes got better. some of the weird swinging camera and out of focus scenes in the middle of the season were confusing)
i feel like the show was structured in a way that they're trying to think about the "bridgertons" as a whole as opposed to each individual couple per season (so maybe in s3 we get edwina back on the marriage market? kate and anthony still get to be major characters for the next sibling's story? maybe even the prince will come back?) but i still feel like we deserved to see more of kate and anthony in love, happy, and content, etc. in their own season
but i did find things i enjoyed about this season! the humor, the sibling dynamics, newton, benedict's humor, daphne knowing kate is The One before anyone else, anthony calling for hyacinth to dance and doing that little pose to wait for her to get down the stairs, the k3g cover, all of the tension between kate and anthony, "how many fingers am i holding," lady danbury and violet eavesdropping, etc. but they're such brief moments that are overshadowed by so many boring storylines that they don't get to shine as much as they could have. out of context, the scenes are so good! but the way they decided to write out the plotline for this season was just. ugh. which makes me so sad bc i loved kate and anthony's book! and the way they rewrote the characters for the show! they had the schematics they only had to build on top of it but. sigh.
tl;dr part 2 bc this got quite long!! idk w h y kate and anthony with their amazing chemistry were pushed to the sidelines of their own season for the sake of other plotlines that weren't anywhere near as interesting as any time they were in a scene together. edwina and mary deserved way more and way better than they got. kate deserves to have a well-rounded and well-crafted backstory. if s3 doesn't have all of the romance scenes that kate and anthony deserved to have in s2 i will riot!!

my review of bridgerton season 2
i had low-ish expectations going in because i wasn't the biggest fan of season 1. but the low expectations were blown out of the water. also a lot of qualms i had about the first season were gone this time i think just because i fell in love with kanthony *ahem* the characters. like i couldn't get used to the diversity at first i guess just because it was unrealistic and felt like erasure, and i thought the classic version of popular modern songs they used was so cringey. but this time the sharma's backstory in India worked so amazingly and i think seeing a white guy fall in love with a south asian character in the most believable and engrossing way was great- i definitely would have appreciated it if i saw this show as an insecure teenager hating my ethnicity. the music was still kind of cringey, but not as bad this time because the overwhelming kanthony feels were overpowering. also this time there was no sexual assault and weird questionableness that was daphne and simon's ship. kate was much more regal and respectable and i loved her so much. daphne was also redeemed for me this season and one of my favourite characters just because she was so true and honest to herself and others and was very wise.
i've been reading youtube comments and reviews of season 2 all last night and it satisfied an itch, everyone is just as obsessed with the kanthony romance as i am 😭 i really liked the slow burn and thought it was done well. i loved the parallels between kate and anthony in terms of being the older sibling and swearing off love and happiness for themselves because they felt like they didn't deserve it. it was so real and raw and made their relationship/chemistry make so much sense and so much deeper. anthony's gaze will haunt me forever. every single one of his glances towards kate gave me a physical reaction. his fucking eyes and then his complete lost-in-his-own-universe silence completely ignoring everything that's happening around him kills me. death by stare. i also loved eloise throughout this entire season, she is girlboss #1. penelope is more gaslight than girlboss but i still loved her character because nicola coughlan did an incredible job and all her actions were motivated reasonably. i don't like what penelope did and she's incredibly selfish, but at least i can understand why she made each of her choices. my least favourite character was edwina until the wedding, she was so one-dimensional. but then at the wedding she began to take more control of her life and choices and i was very happy with all of her dialogues to kate. i hated portia featherington when she was shckeming with jack featherington, but then the last episode said -redemption- so i started liking her again.
one of my favoruite scenes was the bridgerton ball scene when all the bridgertons, sharmas, and lady danbury were dancing together alone when no one showed up- it was so wholesome. it was like it was just them against the world. they all deeply cared for each other as a family.
i felt like they could have developed edwina more after kate had her accident, it was kind of like she just decided to get over her feelings and let kate and anthony have their happy ending, which was kind of unrealistic. i don't like how kate and anthony just forgot about her and how they hurt her to run off to have sexy times after the ball. despite the slow burn i felt like that was too rushed. i think in the book it may have made more sense cause i heard that edwina didn't really love anthony, but in the series they made edwina fall in love so it was weird to just see everything coming up kanthony so fast. i felt like she should have maybe had more development, or just not be so fine with how everything turned out. idk.
i didn't like benedict rejecting art school just because he found out anthony donated some money... like you really want to give up art school, your dream, because of what? i get that he doesn't want to be an imposter and maybe he feels like he didn't deserve it or it was unfair, but why would you throw away that opportunity- just work twice as hard and prove yourself that you do deserve it. also this is your family's money we're talking about. the art school's not going to give it back to you, so why would you waste it
i didn't like some of the dresses worn by kate in the later seasons- the production people said they gave kate more light clothing to signify her change in character, but i felt like some of the things she wore just didn't fit, they were too childish and immature, like i didn't like the pink and the white gloves and stuff, it just ruined her maturity and sexiness which was a huge part of what made her character great in my opinion.
hmm what else can i say... i think i need to rewatch the series again cause i kind of forgot what happened i was clouded by the kanthony romance but i do have many more thoughts. just thinking about whether it's wise to spend another 8 hours of my life on bridgerton... probably not, but i want to anyways -_-
characters i liked ranking list:
anthony
kate
eloise
daphne
penelope
violet
edwina
the queen
lady danbury
mary
ratings season 2: 8.5/10

OMG I'M SO CURIOUS TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE NEW FIC
Hi there!
I honestly did not expect anyone to be interested in it because it is not the typical fic this fandom enjoys. But I wanted to explore a whole different universe without the restrictions realism forces on us. This said, the premise is very simple cause if i am something it is unoriginal!
I don't want to give away much but I'll share some important details:
- The story will primarily be from Kate's pov which means most of the focus will be on the Sharmas, both as a family and as a coven.
- Lots of interactions between family and friends. It is a story about love but not just romantic love.
- Most of the spouses will be heavily featured just not in the way you think. (Hint: They deserve a family and it is not the Bridgertons yet *wink wink wink*)
- Lots of self created lore.
- No one is straight, sorry not sorry.
- Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton bickering like an old couple from minute one. Pretending they don't like each other while gently rubbing dirt off the other face.
- A (hopefully) plot twist or two!
And a lot more!

I hate how even Phoebe got sidelined because of polen, she was the main lead in S1 and didn't even get a farewell post like rege! Sh*ndal*nd only cares for their precious couple
Prompted by my Commentary on Bton S3 Production
Hello Anon, thanks for sending this in!
I definitely get where you are coming from about the sentiment of this ask and I totally agree about the farewell post thing - I am still beefing with Shondaland and the Bton PR team about Ruby Stokes' leaving!
However, this is an unpopular opinion and feel free to disagree with me: I think Phoebe and Daphne got their due and deserved screen time. Despite my feelings about Rapist Daph in the second half of S1, I did love her scenes and she was given the A plot and screentime she deserved as the main lead of S1! Also as Lav @sweetestviscount pointed out, in S1 most of the sideplots involved Daphne in some way! This also definitely added to her screentime and made her stand out to me as the main leading lady (something unfortunately Simone never got as Kate).
As for S2: Ignoring that stupid hour dedicated to the idiotic Ponzi Scheme and the Ginger Demon bullying her printer, I think Daph's screen time within Kathony’s story was substantial since she was just on her own.
It was enough time to impart her married sisterly advice to Ant while also passing her baton to Kate as the new lead of the season. I always expected to see that much of her in S2 so I wasn't disappointed. Tbh I never wanted to see her rapist ass again lmao but Daph grew on me in S2 even if I will never forgive her for SA-ing my boy Simon. So to me, she did not feel sidelined. If anyone was, it was the Sharma Family and they should have gotten that hour of screen time for their backstory that was wasted on the Featherflops.
However if Simon was still in the picture, I think the Bassets would have had a big role within the A-Plot trying to get Kathony together. It would have been DELIGHTFUL - can you just imagine Simon tackling Ant just before he could even think of proposing to Eddie in Ep 4?
Within the Bton universe aside, Pheebs definitely got the leading lady treatment for S1′s PR and press tour. Yes, it was a Zoom interview tour but she was given her due and space to talk about her characters alongside Regé. For S2, the focus is SUPPOSED TO BE primarily on Jimone as the new stars so I did not really expect her to get any PR since her time on the show was more or less done.
Overall, I think the show did right by Daphne and Phoebe. I will say that, it’s the fans who don't always give her credit for making Daph dynamic in S1 (and sometimes I get it - we don't really like her after she SA-ed Simon) and it comes across as sidelining her in favour of Regé.
All this being said, I don't know for sure if she is in S3 since there have been conflicting new reports on this. But given that it's Polio and Daph/Colin are not the chaotic Irish twins duo in the show like they are in the books, I knew she wouldn't be around. So I was surprised everyone was shocked by the news of her leaving. Not to mention she unfollowed the Bee Show account ages ago lol. But I am miffed she did not get a farewell post like Regé if she did actually leave. Like Shondaland/Bton PR just say you hate women and go. They really only cared for their golden goose (Regé) to say goodbye to him, only because they knew they could exploit him with the fans SIGH.
SO glad the mans is OUT alongside with Phoebe and Ruby Stokes too!! They all deserve so so much better and are getting it! (Now universe do Jimone next!)

Molly!!!! Happy BSCU anniversary!!!! You’ve created something incredible and deserve all the flowers (though I know you won’t take them). Thank you for sharing your writing talents with the world!!! I have more of a connection to these characters because of your stories❤️❤️❤️ Congratulations creating one you most expansive fictional universes I have ever seen not just in fanfic but across all media. (When’s the last time Marvel spun off 7 AU across 7 different genres? I can’t recall😂😂)
Can’t ship flowers to Australia but Happy Birthday BSCU!!!
Tumblr media
Marvel is just trying to do what the BSCU already has. And they should give up.
Thank you for all your love and support over the last year, it really means a lot and this Graphic is 💯👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
One Day I will write you the Star Wars AU you deserve with little Gregory as Kate's Padawan learner, and Senator Bridgerton's children that do seem to follow her around like little ducklings. Satine Kryze is pretty sure she heard little Miles call her Mama the other day and she responded to it.
Jedi Master Sharma also looked daringly back at Satine and said "Role models are important to developing children."
