istg half of the post-s5 finale fics i see have some sort of disclaimer in the tags or summary (or i even just saw one in the title!!) saying the fic was written because the show sucks or the finale sucked or they just hated everything about it

and it's frustrating because i probably would have enjoyed a lot of these fics! but now i'm not even going to touch them because i don't want to engage with people shitting on the show

I watched Disney’s Wish finally. It wasnt as bad as people say but I am a little miffed that despite Asha calling her grandfather Saba and one line in the opening song where she says shalom (she also says hola and salaam in the same line so take it with a grain of salt), there’s no other mention of her being Jewish/speaking Hebrew? Literally anywhere??

Not even the wiki has anything about it??

The most i could find was a thing on TVtropes where it said oh yeah shes “ambiguously Jewish”—where the only things they reference as proof are the two above situations—so not actually Jewish (oh cool, theyre stealing Jewish stuff who could have seen this coming)

I spent the rest of the movie looking for anything that shows she’s Jewish but there’s nothing.

The most the producer says is that Asha has, “Southern European and North African heritage” so there’s potential for her to be Sephardi? Maybe?

Like, you’d think it’d be something worth commenting on, a Disney character who’s Jewish/Jew-coded and not a villain

As a watcher fan who tries to stay distant from controversy the whole reaction to their announcement was fucking horrible! Some of y'all really let your severely unhealthy parasocialness show and your racism at the same time! Was the original decision shitty? Yep! But like they are not the first creators nor will they be the last to struggle financially and make a rather poor decision. how are ppl getting mad abt there being no aliens (that we know of yet!!!) in starfield??? like i thought that was kinda the whole point of the game, it's a game universe where it is heavily based on our own universe and we haven't encountered any aliens yet but i feel like starfield is going to be abt the possibilities of us finding aliens in the future. because the universe is HUGE like unfathomably huge, and so of course if there are aliens out there, it's gonna take us a long fucking time to find them but for starfield, it is all abt finding an ancient civilization or something, is that not exciting in and of itself????

so I watched 'Eighth grade' 👀

Okay, so I just watched the movie 'Eighth grade', by bo burnham. And oh my god, can this movie be any more relatable? Bo burnham never disappoints dude. And the girl that acted for Kayla????? HER ACTING WAS SO GREAT and some parts of that movie was so damn relatable that I had to pause and be like 'hold up' 😭 You know that scene where kayla had lists of things she has to do to make more friends you know like 'complimenting them, saying hi' I LITERALLY MADE THAT SAME THING WHEN I WAS IN EIGHTH GRADE. I literally made a whole points of things I will do, like 'talking but not talking too much, listen to people attentively' and all these stuff to make people like me. I still have those in my old diaries jkdjhfk like how tf did they manage to make it so relatable. I used to stress about these things so much, how I am acting and I would make a mental note of embarrasing things I did or say so that I would never do them again. My god was it exhausting. No wonder I have no sense of personality anymore. And alsooo THE WHOLE ADVICE GIVING PART. I remember I used to give my friends advice too, I used to call myself 'the therapist friend' but uhh that doesn't really go for me anymore because I now suck at giving advice but yes, I was sort of a therapist friend and I would give all these advice and stuff to my friends when I never was even able to do those myself. It all hit too close to home. But ANYWAY, this movie is so so great. You should really give it a try. I also love the embarrassing parts and how PAINFULLY AWKWARD IT WAS because that is exactly how it is in real life. Really love the casting, everyone did a great job. I also love how they showed all the acnes and you know, tEenAge-iSh sTuFf. AhH!!! I love it.

Here's a mild rant since I haven't shitposted in a while.

Almost a year ago, I was diagnosed with uncommon food allergies. I've been dealing with this for almost a year and I still haven't narrowed down what's causing me problems. On top of that, what I have narrowed down and cut out from my diet, is probably some of the most uncommon allergies I've ever seen.

My first one that was flagged on my blood and skin panels for my allergy tests was potatoes. I live in southern Virginia, we eat potatoes with every meal; this was a very common staple in my diet and upon my diagnosis, I died a little inside. It also made my life seriously complicated when it came to going out and getting something to eat. No longer can I buy combo meals at multiple fast food chains. No longer can I eat fried food at any place at any given time because of the same oil being used. It's such an uncommon allergy as well from the fact that my allergy doctor said he'd only seen one other patient in 20 years.

My second is lettuce, which only showed up on my skin allergy panel. This one I learned the hard way from eating Chick-fil-A salads for a week while I was working at the mall. This is also a fun one to explain at restaurants when they ask what kind of dressing I want for my salad, and then I have to explain that I can't eat a salad, and I don't want it even though I know it comes with my meal. I also didn't know that I could actually crave lettuce until after finding out I was allergic to it.

My last one of the three is undercooked beef, which only flagged on my blood panel. While I did have an Alpha-gal panel done when I had the blood test, I came back negative on that. That being said, I'm fine if the steak is well done, but any type of pink and I'm sick. I recently encountered this when we went out to eat for independence day; I got fish to be on the safe side and still ended up feeling unwell while we were at the restaurant; we assumed my fish was grilled on the same grill as someone with a undercooked steak. The thing was, right before I narrowed this down, I had started ordering my steaks medium after years of eating them well done.

Some honorable mentions are raw chicken makes my hands break out in a rash (any cooked chicken is perfectly safe), any type of juice from a raw pepper makes my fingers sting whether it be spicy or not (cooked peppers are fine to eat), and kiwi makes my throat itch, but I didn't flag for it on my allergy tests.

As for the other things I flagged for that has put me on this quest to find out what I'm actually allergic to include, peanuts and wheat on the blood panel, and every type of grass, all, but two or three trees, more than half of every type of weed, soybeans, celery, onion, cashew, rye, Lima beans, and squash on the skin panel.

A lot of those things I don't eat very often, if at all so I don't understand what's still making me sick at this point. I'm just kinda over it. It's become a part of my daily routine and has made my life stupid complicated when it comes to family get togethers or other meals. I also still don't understand why I suddenly developed all these allergies in my early twenties when the only problems I had as a child was being severely lactose intolerant. I'm just kind of exhausted by it.

Usually, I don’t talk about actors/actresses, because it feels like a breach of privacy to me when I look at their personal lives/makes me uncomfortable, but this really has me a bit disappointed in some Stranger Things fans.

I’ve been trying not to go on TikTok because I didn’t want to read the comments on Noah’s TikTok, but do people realize how weird it is saying “I knew” when you are strangers?

If you’re going to say anything at all, just support him! I found so many comments that said “I knew” when obviously he was making a joke about his family and friends, but for total strangers to think that they know him well enough to say “oh, I knew too!”?

For one, that’s just making assumptions either way, which is wrong. For two, we do not actually know him. Seriously, he might be comfortable with family saying “I knew,” but none of us (as fans) actually know Noah.

We know what is put out on the internet, we know what is said in interviews, but we aren’t friends with him, at best, we all admire Noah (I would hope!).

I do not want to hear anything about “I knew.” Because you didn’t. You may have speculated, had an opinion on it, but hearing “I knew,” from a total stranger as compared to family and friends, there is a massive difference, okay?

My own friends all said that they knew well before me, my best friend joked that I was the 4th person he’s coached through a bi disaster, (because I confide in him a lot and I trust him), I talked to my best friend since 4th grade and she joked that she knew before I did. I talked with my best friend from high school and she told me she loved me and we listened to music for 3 hours. I joked with them, had a “wait? Really? I was that obvious?” moment.

But if a total stranger said “hey! I knew you were bisexual,” when I’ve never met that person? I would 100% look at them like they have three heads.

I’ve always been taught to lead by example and if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. I have also been taught not to assume anything about another person, and just be kind in general. And yes, claiming to have known about someone else’s sexuality if you do not know them personally is a bit weird.

I do not want to hear about people complaining because “oh I shipped you and Millie,” when they have only ever been close friends. I do not want to hear about people shipping Noah with Finn or Caleb or Gaten either.

We can ship the characters because they are fictional.

But DO NOT start shipping the actors who are all friends and haven’t said anything about romantic relationships with co-stars! Okay? Okay.

Additionally, whether Byler happens or not, I don’t want anyone to act like it was anyone’s fault but the writers in the end- no matter how it plays out. And I don’t want people to shift from shipping Byler / Miwi (two fictional characters) together to shipping Finn and Noah. Because again, two separate entities and I really just wish I didn’t have to clarify this.

Irregardless, the above applies to any actors in any show or production, not just Stranger Things. I seriously hope that the media quits pushing questions of sexuality on actors/actresses, because whether the actor/actress is someone in the lgbtq+ community or has simply chosen not to say, it is no one else’s business, but the business of that actor or actress.

Basically, if you have nothing kind to say in support, don’t say anything at all okay?

(Additionally, I don’t want to hear any jokes about knowing about it / suspecting it, okay? You can joke about the characters because it is a TV SHOW and the characters are fictional, but I would hope we don’t joke about that in any bad ways either.)
