It was a fun, wholesome sapphic teen romance with an engaging plot and interesting characters who were imperfect and messy but loveable and easy to root for. The story is set in a suburban high school with the main character Scottie, a basketball player, navigating her struggle to deal with the rejection of her ex-girlfriend and her own feelings of self-worth in relation to how others view her, while circumstances put her in the path of the girl she considers her nemesis, or so she thought, until she is forced to reckon with her own presumptions and prejudices. I liked how character-focused the narrative was and how much the characters' decisions (both good and bad) led the plot.The teenage characters were portrayed with both realism and empathy. The main character, in particular, made several ill-advised decisions that costs her heavily which came from a place of pain, confusion and insecurity that is both relatable and understandable. 💛 Did you go to parties in high school? I didn’t really. My friends and I hung out at people’s houses a lot, but all we ever did was eat, play poker, mafia, and watch movies. wattpad (.com or app), unfortunately there's much more chaff than wheat (lots of very young authors fewer adults) and their search sucks, find author "AbiBee" (really good writer IMO, stories are more relationship/romance but occasional sexy times); also "TessMackenzie", "KellyQuindlen", "HollyMD"

literotica.com: (notes - that their story categories are largely author-selected and sometimes "lesbian" category just means "has some w/w sex but may overlap with other) check authors' biography page sometimes they give a clue in case one story is a sequel; if you see stories in their list that are in the transexual category you can easily assume they're tra themselves and any of their lesbian category stories aren't worth reading. Search for authors "-Ripley-" "BrokenSpokes" "Colleen Thomas"

In general I've found that within the first paragraph or two you can figure out if a story is going to be full of ridiculous tropes (bust size, she's unbelievably gorgeous, etc) or written by a bad male author (there's the occasional male author that manages to write a convincing lesbian story but it's so rare that it's easier to skip authors who admit to being male, but on Literotica there's liars just like on Tumblr of course)

Pride/June 2021 Reads Wrap Up. I was much more productive with reading this month than I was for the last few, tho I will admit that if I read less fanfiction, I still could’ve finished more books, lol. Anyway, for this month, my goal was to read at least 15 books, preferably more recent books, and as strictly LGBTQ+ as I could. And I think I did pretty well on that front. (Did I basically force myself to stay as focused as possible and finish three books, a novella, and a graphic novel in the last two and a half days in order to meet my goal? maybe 😉) lol. I’m not much of a graphic novel person, but I’m happy to say that I did finish a few of those as well, as seen on the second slide. Her name in the sky - A Haker tribute playlist.

So I gotta admit that I've been a little obsessed with a novel I recently finished reading called "Her name in the sky". A beautiful coming of age novel of a young girl discovering her attraction to girls by falling in love with no other than her best friend. We've all been there, I dare to say that at least 90% of young gay women come out as they fall in love with their besties. "Her name in the Sky" took me back to my 17 year old self and resurface all those feelings of terror, shame and heart brake, but most importantly feelings of amazement and excitement of falling in love for the first time. In my case I related a bit more with the story as I also attended a co-ed catholic high school and experienced the forced teachings of false values, which made me hate myself for liking girls. Fortunately my journey has been filled with good experiences since then (also some bad ones, a couple of heartbrakes and some other hate bullying) but in the path of discovering myself I've been having a heck of a ride, and I couldn't be more proud to be the way that I am. "Her name in the sky" reminded me of the place I come from and of that night I finally looked in the mirror and said "I'm gay", and just like the character of Hannah, when it came out of my mouth it became real and it felt amazing. 

So as a tribute to the beautiful story of Hannah and Baker I created a fan playlist that best describes a few of the most memorable scenes in the book, at least according to my cinematic imagination :p.  I highly recommend the book to every young heart out there eager for emotional experiences, not just lesbians, its an incredible love story :).
