KYUNGSOO(D.O) : JUST FRIENDS
Genre: smut , minors dni,🔞, best friend to lovers, fake dating
Word count: 4,159
--------
Tumblr media
For as long as you can remember you and d.o have been shipped by your close friends, they always tried to put you two together as much as possible.
You and d.o didn't really mind either, you both loved spending time together and making new memories together.
At least that's what it was for you, just memories to tell your children and grandchildren when you grew older.
D.o and you were the complete opposite but still alike in many ways, when he hated socializing you thrived in it.
When he succeeded in the kitchen you failed astronomically.
You balanced each other but now....all you wanted to do was strangle him, the bastard opened your curtains and let the atrocious sunlight through onto your unsuspecting face.
Ultimately ruining your wet dream about a celebrity you could never have.
"close the curtains! my eyes are
burning! "you were so dramatic but he didn't mind that, you were one of his closest friends in the world and he found it quite amusing but he'd never admit that.
"don't you think you've slept in
long enough, you little vampire?"he asked and sat down beside you pulling the covers off your body.
You threw a pillow in his direction and he easily dodged it , chuckling at your weak attempt to get him to leave you alone.
"Get up , they're serving food at that diner for couples again" you'd forgotten about that, the little diner near the boys apartment always did this every year for valentines day.
"Why aren't we sending Chen? He's in an actual relationship" you grumbled and he pinches your arm , grabbing your other arm to keep you from hitting him.
"I'll buy you dumplings later"he offered and you sat up , stretching with a smile on your face.
It was safe to say you're thoroughly spoiled.
"Deal"you agreed and got up, heading to the bathroom to get ready and kyungsoo headed back to the living room where the guys were watching TV.
"Baekhyun, you're buying y/n dumplings later" he stated as he plops himself down on the couch beside Kai.
You were finally ready to head over to the guys apartment and even though they brought Chen's 'family' car as you'd like to call it there still wasn't enough room for everyone, that's how you end up on kyungsoo's lap and you're convinced they planned this.
By they you mean baekhyun.
"Who are we texting?" Kyungsoo asked and you smiled slightly, turning your head to look at him.
"One of my side chicks" you commented and he snorts, resting his chin on your shoulder as you lean back against his chest.
"Cheating on our anniversary? You wound me" he commented lowly and you'd have to note that was the first time you felt something towards d.o, his low voice just gave you the chills as it resonated in your ear
"Are we there yet?" He raised his eyebrows at you, taken aback by the sudden question and he looks out of the window.
"Almost, you know how slow Chen drives"he chuckles and there it goes again, his deep voice and you tried to refrain from shivering but you couldn't help it.
He definitely noticed.
"Are you cold? I told you to bring a jacket"he scolds you and you bite your bottom lip, you're snapped out of it when he starts to rub your arms in hopes of providing you some warmth.
He had no idea that he was unintentionally driving you crazy.
"We're here" Chen dropped you off at the diner and you both climb out of the car, you headed towards the entrance thankfully it wasn't too packed due to the time and most people were at work.
You had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the diner, the first floor being the waiting area and you hear a snort coming from beside you.
"You're the clumsiest person I know, how did you survive past childhood?"he chuckles at your frame when you successfully avoided falling up the steps because lord knows how you managed to do that.
"Well it's a good thing I have you here to protect me"you turn to him and bat your eyelashes earning a snort from him before he shoves you lightly, an arm wrapping around your waist as you approached the buffet to further sell the idea of you being a couple.
However you didn't expect to see kyungsoo's boss there as well and witnessing kyungsoo tense up, it was clear that he was just as surprised.
"Fancy seeing you here, I had no idea you were in a relationship."his boss greets him and you smiled.
"He likes to keep me hidden"you say and kyungsoo gives your waist a squeeze of appreciation, thankful for the save.
"Will we be seeing each other at your promotion party?"he then asked kyungsoo, you looked at him confused and completely stepping out of character.
"What promotion party?"you asked and his boss also questioned him, confused that he hasn't told you yet.
"You didn't tell her?"
"We've been so busy lately there wasn't enough time"kyungsoo explained, it wasn't necessarily a lie either but knowing him he wasn't intending on attending his own party.
"Its okay"you assured him before turning to his boss.
"We'll be there"you promised and this time it was kyungsoo who stared at you in shock, disbelief even.
"Well then , I'll let you enjoy your evening, it was nice meeting you-"you take his hand to shake it and give him your name.
"Y/n"
---------
"Why didn't you say anything?"you asked him as you both sat on the couch, some of the guys had work and the chen was on a date with his girlfriend.
"I wasn't gonna go, its not a big deal"you snorted, not surprised.
"You got a promotion soo and that is a big deal, when is the party?"you questioned him and he leans back against the couch.
"Its next weekend, out of town"you raised your eyebrows.
"Then I should get packed"you said, standing up and he grabbed your hand, getting your attention.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"he asked, genuinely concerned.
"We have to, can't risk people thinking you're a liar and a fraud"you say and squeeze his hand.
"Thank you"he said and you nodded, pulling away from him to go and get packed. You decided to bring at least 15 different outfits, you never know what you'll encounter over a three day period.
As the days pass by and the weekend approaches you both bid your friends a farewell, surprising you even more once you saw they were traveling all the way to California for his promotion party.
You were once again in disbelief when you'd checked into the hotel, of course you and d.o were sharing a room. You tried not to think too deeply about it and focused more on the room, it was more like a suite.
"I just got promoted to CEO" he answered your question before you even asked, your eyes full of amazement as you took in the room and kyungsoo has never seen you look so beautiful.
The bed is huge and the view is otherworldly , you couldn't believe your best friend has been hiding this life from you all this time.
Yet you still couldn't fathom why this man was still single.
"We're expanding our branch to California" he further explains, which explains why you'd flown here.
"A-are you moving here?" You asked , turning to him and he sat down on the bed. Your heart sank.
He was moving all the way to California.
"I'll come visit when I can" he tells you and you nodded, looking down at your hands and he takes them in his own to pull you closer.
"Don't cry" he says softly and you sit down beside him, his hand pressing against your cheek and you subconsciously nuzzle into his hand.
His heart melts at your little display of affection and the first real action without eyes on you, you were both alone and yet you were genuinely sad to part from him once this was over.
He pulls you into a hug and you hide your face in his neck, he rubs your back soothingly to help you calm down all while your brain tried to come to terms with this new revelation.
You both pull away eventually and he pinches your cheek.
The party started a little bit after 9pm and you spent the last three hours in a room with all of the women, thank god you'd known kyungsoo for a long time because they wouldn't stop asking questions.
Like his boss they were also surprised that he was in a relationship , according to them he'd been asked out several times but declined them all.
This was the part that made you do a double take.
He'd always tell these beautiful and successful women that he already had eyes for someone else, who could that possibly be?
As far as you know kyungsoo had never mentioned having another friend of the opposite gender, could he be keeping her a secret?
"He seems really smitten with you" taeyeon tells you and you bite your bottom lip at that.
Their comments made your mind wander to places and scenarios they shouldn't have, what could a life with d.o offer you.
Were you the mystery interest all this time? If so, why would he turn down the likes of someone as successful as taeyeon for you?
No , this was fake dating. It wasn't real.
Yet you'd never talked about ending the fake dating plan once this was over.
Would you keep fake dating? What did kyungsoo think?
The sound of Krystal telling you she was done with your hair snapped you out of your thoughts, the hair stylist was definitely worth all the hype she got.
You could never get your hair to be this perfect but you'd never had enough money to buy the right products so that was probably why.
"Kyungsoo is a keeper, I wouldn't let him go if I were you" was the last thing taeyeon said before you parted ways when you walked down stairs.
Although you thrived in public situations this was a little out of your comfort zone , kyungsoo was chatting and laughing with his co-workers when you arrived with the rest of the ladies.
You did not fail to catch his attention immediately and he excused himself from the conversation before coming over to you, a smile on his face once he got close.
"You look amazing" one of the ladies had gifted you with a silk brown dress and gold accessories , it was the perfect length and the slit on the side showed off your beautiful thighs.
D.o shook his head before his mind could wander to unholy places meant to be whispered to you within the safety of your room.
"So do you" you're pushed up against him as a group of people walk past you and you look up at him before stepping back.
"Come , let's get you a drink"he wraps his arm around your waist and guides you to the bar, multiple people greeting him and you along the way.
"You're really popular, huh?"he chuckles at that and shrugs his shoulder.
"Something like that"he orders a round of shots for you both and you engage in a competition like you usually do back home.
He let's you win of course as per usual.
"I'm gonna miss you" you state as you stare at him and he smiles sadly at you, leaning forward to kiss your lips but instead he ends up kissing your nose and you both burst out laughing.
"Were you trying to kiss me?"you asked him and he sits his glass down, attention drifting from the shot to you.
"What would you do if I was?"he asked and you shrugged your shoulders.
"Slap you, maybe"you grinned and he snorts, knowing you were probably right.
"That would sell it right?"he asked, you knew what he was talking about but still the thought of kissing d.o sent shivers up your spine.
"Probably" you said and he leans forward, cupping your cheek and your eyes close at the sensation of his warm hand against your cheek.
Your breath hitching when you open your eyes to see how close he was and just then he closed the gap, kissing your lips softly and it was a simple kiss.
No tongue or anything like that but still had your head spinning from the softness, it was a quick kiss before he pulled you into his arm in a hug and kissed your cheeks twice making you laugh.
As the night came to an end you and d.o found yourselves sitting amongst his peers, his hand on your knee to stop your leg from bouncing and your head on his shoulder as you were starting to get sleepy as it was now going past midnight.
"We're gonna head in for the night"his  hand leaving your knee to help you stand, arm around your waist as both walk to the elevator.
"Okay, see you tomorrow"you wondered what tomorrow had in store for you but you were too tired to  think about it further.
The ride up to your floor was quiet but not an uncomfortable silence, kyungsoo picks you up once the elevator opens and he carries you bridal style to your room.
You were wide awake now, not expecting that and honestly you didn't even know he was that strong.
Needless to say you kinda liked it, maybe a little too much.
"We need to talk"he'd said just before you could dip off to the bathroom to get changed.
"Okay....what is it?"you asked him, kicking off your shoes and looking over at him since he had yet to move.
"I don't know when it started or why it even started but all I know is...I like you , y/n and before you even ask its not as a friend"you're shocked but you kind of suspected there was something else going on the more the day moved along.
Especially after talking with taeyeon and hearing how he acted around other women, its very different from how he acts with you.
He's comfortable with you.
"I've liked you for a long time now, its why I didn't bother to date because none of them are you and they could never make me feel the way you do"you felt your heart melt at that, you were the mystery interest this whole time.
You were the one he'd had his eyes on for god knows how long, that explained why he complied with fake dating you for food at the diner.
"I just had to say it. And if you
don't want me that way, we'll
never mention this again. I'll be at your side when you get married, when you have kids, when you find the cure for cancer- and I'll be happy for you. I'll keep my feelings out of it-"you hadn't even noticed you hadn't responded to his confession yet, too caught up with matching up the missing pieces of the puzzle that kyungsoo left for you all these years.
"Soo shut up"you cut him off and he immediately raised his eyebrows.
"Okay, I can do that"he said and you took a deep breath before walking over to him , grabbing his shirt and pulling him to you as you kissed his lips.
Ultimately taking him by surprise but soon enough his hands found your waist to pull you closer to his body , your lips molding together like a seamless harmony and you wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Is that a yes?"he asked after pulling away for some air, panting slightly and you nodded as your eyes closed.
"I don't want you to keep your feelings out of it"you tell him and he picks you up, pressing you against the nearest wall and you gasp at this new side of d.o that you were witnessing.
"Fuck, I've waited for this for so long" he whispered against your lips as he licks your bottom lip and you open your mouth to let his tongue slip inside , the kiss deepening and his body pushing up against yours.
You whine softly as you feel something hard press against your center and your fingers grip his hair, his lips leaving yours and moving down to your neck as you tilt your head back.
You shiver upon feeling his mouth on your skin for the first time and he grows harder as he listens to you moan his name for the first time.
He wanted more.
"Wait are you sure about this?"he asked as he pulled back and his eyes drift over to your neck, no doubt a hickey already decorating your skin.
"Just fuck me already" you lock your legs around his waist as you make him press against your center again, a groan leaving his lip and you pull him into another kiss.
"Soo" you gasp as his hands grope both of your breasts and you both look down at his hands , he gulps before brushing his thumbs over your nipples and feeling them already hardened.
"Fuck you're not wearing a bra"you blush at his words and work to get his tie loose, nibbling on your bottom lip.
"The girls said I didn't need one with this dress"you gasped again as he rolls your nipples between his fingers through the thin material of your dress and winning him a whimper in response.
"Been thinking about ripping this dress off you since you walked through that door" he spoke and looked up at you before pulling down the top of your dress until your tits spill out of the material, he wastes no time as he licks his fingers and takes your nipple into his mouth all while rolling your other nipple between his fingers.
Your fingers wrap around the door handle to keep you anchored in the world of reality.
"You can't- its not mine" you tell him and he pulls you back into another kiss , carrying you to the bed now and pushing you down against it.
Your hands immediately go to his pants and you hastily unbutton them before pushing them down his legs, you pull him down onto you and your sudden movement makes him gasp.
He curses in your ear as your hand slips into his boxers and your hand wraps around his impressive length, he wasn't long like how you thought he'd be but he was thick.
"I want you inside now"you whine as you stroke his length and he bucks into your hand, a groan leaving his lips as you squeeze his base and pump faster.
"W-we've got all night"he stops you and pulls your hand out of his boxers, his eyes widening as he takes in the sight of you removing your dress and you're only left in a pair of black laced panties.
"My God, you're so fucking
gorgeous like this."he whispered and ran a hand up your body to grab your breasts in his hands, rolling your nipples between his fingers before his hand wraps around your neck and you gasp.
" oh fuck"your back arches off the bed and he trails his tongue up your body as he kisses a wet trail behind, when his tongue flicks at your sensitive buds you wrap your legs around him.
"You're driving me crazy"he coos at your comment before biting down on the plump flesh surrounding your nipple and your body arches again as he sucks it into his mouth.
You didn't know kyungsoo had this side to him and you definitely liked seeing this side, you definitely noticed he was more of a boob guy and you were proved right when he traps his cock between them.
A trail of saliva landing on the head of his cock to help him fuck your tits better and you let your tongue loll out , hearing him curse as his cock hits your tongue each time he thrusts.
"Soo please , I don't need any foreplay. I just need you inside of me. Right now."kyungsoo laughs and pulls away from you , leaning down to kiss your lips and pulling away right after.
"One more thing, baby. Then I'll give you whatever you want" he promised before slipping between your legs and your breath gets caught in your throat as you realized what he was about to do.
"Relax, let me take care of you" you rest your head back against the pillow and bite your bottom lip as he takes off your panties, the first lick pulls a gasp from you before he's delving into your heat and he moans.
"Fuck, fuck"you swear and arch your back as he holds your hips down, looking up at you as he licks your wet core and your fingers grip his hair again.
" kyungsoo"you moan his name again and he groans as he sucks your clit into his mouth, your hips trying to buck against his mouth but failing due to his grip.
"You taste so good" he groans against your heat and his eyes roll into the back of his head as you tug his hair, his tongue licking you feverishly.
"Oh- I'm gonna cum" you cried out, your legs threatening to close around his head but he wraps his arms under your legs and hums in delight as you cum, your body trembling.
He pulls away and licks his lips as he comes up to kiss your lips, your arms wrap around his neck as you deepen the kiss and your hands push his boxers down.
"Please , I need you"you whimper and he pulls back to pull off the rest of his clothes, you hadn't even noticed that majority of his clothes were still on and you just about ripped his shirt off because he was taking too long.
His lips return to yours once he was undressed and you moan into the kiss as you feel his cock grinding against your folds, covering his bare cock in your slick embarrassingly at that.
"you're so wet, I bet I could just-" he pushes his cock into your entrance and you moan at the intrusion, your nails digging into his lower back and he groans as he grabs your hands to pin them above your head.
"Move , please" you beg and he bites his bottom lip as he starts to fuck his cock into you , you both moaning out at the same time and his hands move down to your hips for better leverage.
His thrusts becoming rougher gradually and faster, your moans and the sounds of skin slapping against skin filling the room.
You'd feel bad about the red marks that littered across his back layer but right now you couldn't care less, especially not with him deep in your guts like he was.
Definitely not with him whispering praises into your ear about how well you were taking him, how you were crafted just for him and no one else.
"You're gonna make me cum again" you whimper and he reaches down to slap to your clit with his fingers , you gasped and cried out to him.
"You gonna cum all over your best friends cock?"he taunts you and you nodded your head, what would your friends think if they knew what you both were up to on this trip?
"Cum for me, come on pretty girl"he coos into your ear and you cling onto him, your face in his neck as you clench down around him, pulling a groan from his lips as you cum and he fucks you through your state of euphoria without slowing down.
"Fuck- almost there princess"he said and pulled back to drive his cock into your heat faster, now chasing his own orgasm and rolling your nipples between as he further prolonged your orgasm.
"Fucking hell" he quickly pulls and moves over your body, straddling your waist and strokes his cock until he's cumming all over your tits.
"Never pegged you for a tit guy" you smile at him lazily and he chuckles , leaning down to kiss your lips softly.
"Just yours"he gets off the bed and you smile as he disappears in the bathroom, you couldn't help but think back to earlier and him moving halfway across the world.
How would you make it work? Would it have been better not to explore this side of each other?
You only had 2 days left before your lives would change forever.
Well , a lot can happen in 2 days.

You met this Do Kyungsoo at work. Let me make this clear, he may be a manager but he is not your manager. He has no actual power over you.
Sure, his pay is higher than yours and sure, he has his own parking spot into which he expertly places his immaculate and sparkling Mercedes that is the exact same color as the clear winter sky at midnight—the exact same shade of darkness that you’ve caught seeping out from the center of his eyes as he focused them on your face the night of the company fundraiser.
Sure, when he opens his lips and speaks a mere four words with that demanding tone, several suited minions scatter about the office performing their best for him in desperation for just a hint of his rare approval.
“Tell me your name.” It wasn’t even a question. His first four words to you and the first time you’d heard him speak in that low timbre and your reply was stuck tight in your throat. Your guards were up high when you first caught glimpse of how well he filled out his suit and how well he drove that car and how little regard he gave to the team of hard workers that worked themselves to the bone for him. You felt the warmth of his proximity at your side and you had no doubt he was speaking to you. Your tongue refused to cooperate and when you feigned deafness and walked away his black pupils followed you across to your sanctuary across the aisle.
‘Don’t get on Manager Do’s bad side. He will make you regret it.’ One minion whispered to another and looked longingly across the aisle where you peacefully sorted your receipts, shrugged at the chaos across the way and restarted the music in your headphones. He wasn’t your manager.
Perhaps that was the start of it—the blackness that seemed to cover you whenever his eyes were on you as they had been multiple times a day at work and were, now, all night. You felt haunted by them. You felt weakened each time you caught him watching. He seemed to grow even stronger by it. As if he was winning some game you’d never agreed to play.
This damned fundraiser and your stupid idea to volunteer to serve drinks for the first half of the night in exchange for a small bonus in your paycheck that you’d already spent on bills.
It was harder than you expected. You had been running nonstop. Your feet were aching in the heels and the strap of your dress kept slipping annoyingly off your shoulder and when you were finally done with your shift you stood at the bar and reached for a glass of red wine and drained the entire thing in one go.
“I’ll have what you’re drinking.” The familiar low voice spoke out over your shoulder. Close enough for the puff of air from his lips to warm the bare skin of your neck and you gasped in surprise and spun. The quickness of your motion must have startled him. Did he think you were falling? A warm palm wrapped around your waist and the heat in his hand blazed through the thin fabric of your dress.
You didn’t move.
Manager Do leaned then, impossibly closer to you and your eyes drifted down the length of his face, finding a focus on the plumpness of his upper lip. You’d never allowed yourself to stand this close to him before and your eyes wandered over the constellation of tiny moles on his pretty skin.
His leaning eventually changed direction as he retreated like a tide and in his hand sat a wine glass filled with the same red wine you tasted on your tongue.
He lifted the rim to his lips and as they parted the tip of his pink tongue touched along the thin glass edge before he tilted the glass and took the alcohol into his mouth.
The corners of his mouth were lifted before he’d even swallowed the wine and a smirk overcame the seriousness you were so used to finding on his face. You’d expected him to leave. He’d gotten his drink and he surely had other people to torture tonight. But he didn’t move. His eyes watched your face for far too long and the skin on the small of your back had warmed to match the heat of his hand.
You could smell him now. Something spicy, crisp, and expensive as hell.
“Tell me your name,” he breathed against the goosebumped skin below your earlobe, this time with just a hint of defeat on his voice that you probably imagined.
“Please?”

KYUNGSOO
I stand at the end of the foyer with Chanyeol and Baekhyun on either side of me. I glance up the stairs every so often, waiting for Princess Alina to join us for our dinner. This entire night was for her, it was merely advertised as being for us. It was another formality I had to pretend to be excited about. I had merely been a guest at these engagement dinners before, now the entire family was elated that it was my turn, it meant improvements and promotions for everyone. Though our engagement wasn’t official, it felt like it. I listen to the chatter from my aunts, mother and cousins, the anticipation of the Princess coming down the stairs was unbearable.
Ah, Princess Alina.
Alina gave me a headache and I barely knew her for five hours. Her push back earlier today was a big surprise to me, she isn’t exactly known for having an opinion. Valencia was embarrassingly behind in their treatment of women, unfortunately all anyone can focus on is Alina’s beauty. Too bad all of said beauty goes to ruin the second she opens her mouth. All I know is that she better go along about our agreement, or I will make every single day of her life a living hell. She’s just another thing thrown in my face because she’s a “good decision”, the “right girl to grow the dynasty”. It never occurred to anyone that I didn’t want any of this. Though I didn’t have another woman in mind, it didn’t mean that I couldn’t find a wife on my own.
“Hey, pay attention.” Baekhyun nudges me. Unlike the rest of the family, I allowed Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Yixing to speak informally to me. I don’t have any brothers and they were the closest I could get to siblings. They were the three men I trusted the most in the court.
“I am paying attention. See? I’m waiting for my prison sentence to grace us with her presence.” I nudge him back, a slight growl in my voice.
“That was harsh.” Chanyeol mutters.
“Excuse me?” I look up at my cousin, his cheeks are red and his eyes are downcast. “Do you want her? You can have her.”
“I didn’t say that.” Chanyeol snaps. “I just think you should be nicer to her. She’s young and scared, I know you don’t want this but don’t take it out on her.”
My eyebrows raise and an unfamiliar burn tingles in my head. My ears ring and suddenly Chanyeol is a threat to me. Never have I felt this toward him, alarm bells sound in my head. This is more reason to not go through with this. What makes angry is Chanyeol trying to tell me what to do with my fiancé. Whether I like it or not, she’s my headache and none of his damn business.
“Is it not a fact, Chanyeol? I was assigned a wife; hand chosen by my parents. It is a life sentence I have to serve. I’m being as nice as I can be. It’s not my fault my parents didn’t think when they chose her.” I explain with shrugged shoulders, clasping my hand over my wrist. The hustle and bustle of the family gathering and talking to one another is almost deafening, I didn’t enjoy these formal gatherings, never have. They felt so superficial, so showy and obnoxious. Half of this family hated each other anyway. The other half were social climbing leeches that wanted nothing else from me but status and support for whatever they do. Most of them are only here out of curiosity. They want to meet the People’s Princess, or so everyone calls her.
A figure at the top of the stairs catches my eye. I wait to see if it’s my forever headache announcing her presence, and sure enough it is. Princess Alina’s shy smile charmed the entire room to go silent and watch her descend the stairs. She didn’t have to say anything at all, it was her presence that was magnetic. The moment she came into my vision, time stopped. I take in every bit of her, studying her for any flaws. It aggravated me that she was naturally so… Lovely.
She was the only genuine person in this room, her smile was honest. Truthfully, I didn’t know much about the Princess. The only thing I did know is when her smile was fake and when it was real. I wasn’t stupid, I did my research. I watched Princess Alina from afar for some time and learned quickly that she wore her emotions on her sleeve. At the many charity events the Princess attended, she’d have that wide smile that showed off her dimples. If she wasn’t pleased, she wouldn’t show her teeth and would narrow her gaze. Tonight, I saw her full smile, dimples and all.
Princess Alina was glowing in a white form fitting dress that flowed just below her calves, a square neckline showing just a small bit of her deeply tan skin. Yellow gold jewelry in the shape of hearts adorned her neck and ear. Every small bit of her was perfectly put together as if she was crafted by hand. Her hair was styled to fall down her back in a braid with small flowers placed strategically intertwined from the crown of her head down into the braid. It was a traditional Valencian hairstyle, she always had her hair in traditional styles for these types of events. I grew annoyed that she was wearing makeup for the simple fact that it accentuated her beauty.
Up until her arrival, I received a photo of the Princess every year and never gave it a second thought or more than a quick glance. Every princess had their photos edited to look much prettier than they really were. It wouldn’t be unfair to imagine that Alina was any different. Now I see her in front of me and she looked exactly like her photos. When we met earlier in the day, I bullshitted that “your photos don’t do you justice” comment. Now, I see that was wrong to do. I should’ve paid more attention. Everyone in the room gathered and lined the walkway to the dining room, watching and whispering compliments as she greets each member of the Doh Royal Family. She certainly didn’t have to waste her time, but she took the time that none of these people deserved. A small part of me disagreed with each sentiment that was spoken because they weren’t enough to describe what I saw in front of me. It’s becoming very difficult to hate someone who’s so…
So…
I couldn’t even find the proper words for her. She took them from my mind and my mouth. Princess Alina was ethereal, there was something about her that made my heart flutter and it angered me. I stop and compose myself, bringing my head back down to earth. I had to focus on the task at hand. I couldn’t let her beauty get to me.
“She is stunning. Your son and the Princess will have beautiful children.” Aunt Micha coos to Mother behind me.
“We’ll see about that.” Mother grumbles under her breath. I roll my eyes and turn to Princess Alina as she stops in front of me, her respectful bow takes me by surprise. She plays her role exceptionally well; I couldn’t ask for more. She offers a soft nod, her lips curving into a smile with emotionless eyes. It’s a relief that she’s devoid of emotions in her eyes. I fear that she would make me retract my stipulations if I saw the true emotions in her gaze. I offer my hand and she gracefully accepts it. I link her arm with mine and escort her to the dining room. Along the way I put my hand over hers and smile down at her.
“My darling, you are so beautiful.” I say lowly. The Princess’ eyes gaze into mine, discomfort at my sweet name for her caused them to well up with tears. Her smile gives her a deceitful glow that can fool anyone into believing she was happy. Were all of her smiles fake? She’s holding back tears. She hates this as much as I do. Everyone in this room believes we instantly fell in love, how wrong they were. We kept our eyes forward and Alina made it a point to greet everyone, it boggled my brain. Why did she have to acknowledge everyone? Princess Alina stops for a moment, stepping in front of me. “What is it?”
She tries to suppress a giggle and adjusts my tie with soft hands. She pats my chest and bows her head. “Your tie, Your Grace. The knot was coming loose.”
“Thank you, Princess.” I lower my head in thanks. A gentle smile comes and goes as fast as I blink my eyes. We bow to Mother and Father, two Royal Guards approach them with customary gifts from Valencia. Princess Alina’s home country offered a gold necklace to the Mother and a gold watch to Father. One of Valencia’s biggest imports was gold, it was customary for a Valencian Royal to gift their future in laws gold jewelry. Of course, Mother and Father delighted in the gifts. King Ignacio and Queen Evelina could’ve just given it to them on their last visit, but I digress. Formalities are everything.
I guide Princess Alina to her place at the table and pull her chair out. She sits, I take the seat next to her and the family all collectively gather around the large dining table. The conversation is light at first, the duchesses ask the Princess what life was like in Valencia. Between the first and second courses of dinner, I thoroughly studied Alina’s every move. I was filled with so much fascination that someone could mistake it for love. Alina does the same whenever I turn away from her, I catch her in my peripheral vision. How curious is it that I want to look at her constantly? Our gazes catch each other’s, and we hold the contact for a few seconds. Alina turns away with red cheeks, her attention focused on anyone else but me.
“So, Princess Alina, how is the alliance your father made with the Azteco Nation? Still strong?” Boram, my cousin by marriage, smirks, leaning forward on the table. Alina’s demeanor never changes, she never shows her cards.
“It is only faring well considering Azteco’s Queen is my sister.” Princess Alina laughs softly. “I fear the only alliance Azteco’s King has with Valencia’s King is that they are in-laws.”
“How wonderful! How is Queen Maria doing? We were made aware that the birth of Princess Daniela was quite traumatic.”
“Boram,” I warn softly. Alina pats my knee under the table and nods to my cousin.
“Queen Maria has recovered well. Thank you for asking,” Alina beams. Murmurs spark down the table at how “well trained” Princess Alina is, how nothing can unnerve her. Mother pays close attention to how Alina reacts, she had been ever so curious if the Princess will crack under pressure. I didn’t understand why Mother was suddenly so displeased with Alina, it was her that chose Alina as my betrothed. Perhaps her own guilt is being projected onto the Princess, but that can just be me overanalyzing this situation we found ourselves in.
“And your relationship with King Daniel? Is there any truth to the rumors?” Boram pries deeper, not satisfied with Alina’s answer. What is she talking about? Princess Alina’s smile fades and her eyes lock with Mother. Mother’s brow furrows and a sly grin appears on her face, her attention turning to Boram.
“Boram, what is this you speak of?” Queen Hyunae questions. “Princess Alina, care to explain?”
I can see the anxiety and stress strangling Alina. She was a deer in the headlights, panic rising on her face. What is it that’s making her so nervous? Disappointing me? A secret being revealed and the possibly consequences? Oh, this is going to get good. The entire room falls silent, not even a pin drop could be heard. She turns her attention to me, begging me with her eyes to stop this from getting out of control. Confusion riddles my mind, obviously it’s something that shouldn’t be revealed at dinner such as this. I shake my head and turn my attention to my troublemaking cousin.
“Alright, enough! Boram, you need to put an end to the gossip that you spread. You’re making Princess Alina uncomfortable. I expect better treatment toward her.” I demand, my acting is so good that everyone believes me.
“My many apologies, Princess.” Father adds, glaring at his niece. “This behavior will not happen again.” The silence brings awkwardness to the dinner table. I decide that enough is enough and I change the subject for now. Regardless, I will find out what it is that Alina is hiding from me.
“Princess. Are you prepared for our rehearsals? Our engagement ball is coming up.” I offer. Alina looks into my eyes and nods.
“It will be delightful, Crown Prince.”

After the disastrous dinner, I suggest that we take a stroll in the palace garden, a place Alina had not been before. We leave together, changing the tune of the family. The Princess takes in the beauty of the garden, something in her calms and changes into serenity. She looks up to the sky and locates the moon, I look in the direction of her gaze and see the crescent in the sky.
She is the moonlight. She must have hung the moon and stars herself, there is no comparison to this beauty she possesses. Stop while you’re ahead, Kyungsoo.
“So,” I break the silence. “You hooked up with King Daniel?”
She stops walking and shakes her head vehemently. “I could never do that to my sister or to you, Your Highness! How disgusting are you?!”
This whole, “hurt you before you can hurt me” thing is only backfiring. I stand speechless, unsure of what to say. The only thing I can think of doing is to drop to my knees and bow, aware that eyes are on us. Confused, Alina sinks down and touches my face out of concern. “Princess, my deepest apologies for insulting you.”
“Never do this again, Your Grace.” Alina replies, a smile on her face to cover her agitation. “It is clear how you truly feel about me.”
What happened between Alina and Daniel? I never got along with Azteco’s king, every rumor I heard about him wasn’t too far from the truth. The puzzling part was how Alina fit in to this, did I not pay enough attention to what she was doing while waiting to be brought to Seoul? I surmised long ago that anyone is capable of hurting the people around them for selfish reasons; I’ve known it, I’ve felt it.
I also understood my circles were much different than the ones the women in this family were in. I take Alina’s hands and we stand together, my arm resting on her upper back. “Princess, everyone has a past. Everyone pretends to wait for their betrothed, but we all know that is never the case. It’s okay if you had a relationship before me. I had relationships before you.”
Alina’s eyes water, pain written all over her face. Slowly, she starts to back away and I can’t help but feel satisfied that I managed to keep her at a distance. “Crown Prince… I didn’t know you did that. It is becoming abundantly clear that this is not going to work. Here I was, the only one being true to our betrothal. I… I…”
“Stop crying, darling. There are eyes everywhere.” I caress my betrothed’s face, pulling her close to me. Alina stiffens to my surprise.
“Please… You don’t need to do this.”
“I wanted to kiss you, Princess. Are you pretending to be shy with me?” I peer closer, feeling her muscles tense in my hold. Alina holds back a sob and looks away, what am I doing? Am I a monster? I quickly loosen my grip on her and kiss her hand, smiling. “A tease, hm?”
“I thought you were much different than this, Crown Prince.” Alina starts. “Why do you hate me? Am I not what you want? Please don’t torture me and let me go. I will accept my punishment, anything is better than what lies ahead if we keep going.”
I stare at my betrothed, shocked at her plea. She was in agreement when she arrived and suddenly that changes? Obviously, something happened between Daniel and Alina, she just didn’t want to admit it. Not yet at least. I refuse to be made a fool with a wife such as her, keeping secrets and lying to my face. I shrug my shoulders and wipe her tears out of annoyance of seeing them. They’re probably not real anyway, just enough to get her out of this conversation.
“No, you’re staying. I will walk you back to your chambers, Princess.” I give up for now and walk the Princess back to her chambers, continuing the silence between us. She slips in her door and locks it, allowing no room for me to follow her. I walk back to my chambers and slide my phone out of my pocket, sending a message to Princess Alina. I might not want this marriage, but I’m not a heartless man. That look in Alina’s eyes said it all: she really took all of this seriously (as much as I didn’t want to believe it) and I betrayed that by dating despite the laws a betrothal held, or how she might feel about it when she found out.
Kyungsoo Princess, I am sorry for my words. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me.
Darling Wife Okay.
I acknowledge her message and proceed to search forDaniel and Alina rumors on the internet. To say the least, I was bothered by what I saw.

I remember hearing of her presence at my base, but I never wanted to see her. How much truth is in these headlines? Are these rumors? Do gossip websites really need that much attention, why not focus on celebrities? Not one word about Alina had been this controversial, in fact tonight was the first time I heard of any of this.
Kyungsoo Princess, I would like to see you

Kyungsoo I would like to speak with you
Darling Wife No. Goodnight Crown Prince.

It was for the collective good that neither Soyeon nor I saw each other after that exchange. Not even the playful strings of fate could bind us together as everything felt really a drought; whereas we never even got to see each other again even if was by a slim chance. Spacing myself from her did help justify the decision before I could even take it back because admittedly, it does take a huge deal of getting used to her absence. Gone were the calls, the periodical nagging, the occasional skinship… I would lie if I would say that I did not miss her to a certain degree. There was a point in our relationship that I enjoyed what had transpired. However, the negatives outweigh too much of the positives for me to even continue on. So far, I have no regrets whatsoever.
It was quite ironic, even for a person such as me, to divert my attention to the flurry of academic works I had going about. Normally I would just let things slide like how they would usually go but  I figured that for a change, I might try to exert some extra effort and see how would that go for the incoming weeks. In my head, it would help me ease the periodical guilt that sprang from Soyeon’s slap. I was either intentionally heading straight home or going to Naevis at a weird time to enjoy myself without the rest of my new found friends.
Still, I remained updated about her thankfully, through United Kwangya; of which most of her updates came from Kyungsoo and Yeri. I also observed that I went back to the more silent, sentinel type of person in the messaging group unlike when Soyeon was still actively participating in it. Somehow, that subtle ‘break-up’ between us both incited a barrier that served the rest selective of their conversations. Replying and reacting to my friends chats suddenly felt awkward; a predicament I never viewed possible considering the presence of Shinwon and Kino…
Maybe even Ningning…
Then again, there are also the conversations that I could not avoid. Shinwon is really a close friend of mine and a classmate on a mutual subject, so the talk was inevitable. I do appreciate how he’s not bringing the topic out with regards to Soyeon, but aside from that we really have nothing else to talk about. I guess it was my fault, considering I was making up shit-stupid reasons just to not go home with him when the issue was at its peak, all because I just wanted to be alone.
I already feel bad for doing that, but I need these little solo-times to make things work on the way they were supposed to. Soon, I will be able to get back on track.
I have full confidence that Shinwon, among others, would understand that best.
The midterms are also starting to knock on the university door, and I figured I would press myself further to see what it would yield. It was a cold and rainy night; I was stuck in the comfort of the four corners of my room with Joohyun-noona running an unofficial night-shift, effectively leaving me alone in charge of the apartment. I didn’t really mind, as the soft noise of the night cityscape coupled with the rain was an immaculate combo for studying.
That night, I had my phone on my desk as I repeatedly memorized the derivatives of certain trigonometric functions, the most used ones at least. I was working on a set of problems that I deem would solve my usual confusion between arcsine x and arc secant x, because in my head they always looked the same especially at first glance.
BZZZT
My phone lit up in response to a newly received message. At first, I initially thought that it was either the United Kwangya messaging group or at least one of the members… then I had a hint that might be Jeon Soyeon, finally deciding to message me directly after that…
I honestly hesitated for a bit before I decided to open it nonetheless.
Well, I was half-right. The message was indeed from a United Kwangya member, just not someone I would immediately think of in this time of the evening.
Kim Hyojong: Yo, Jae-in, it’s been a while! Are you there man? Are you online?
Of course, there was not even a second’s hesitation especially when it came from Dawn. I don’t know what has gotten into him that he suddenly wants a conversation, but a talk from a good friend is certainly something I could not ignore even in this situation.
Right… If there was one person that I could relate to in some degree… it would be him. We’re both not in the active circle of United Kwangya, not the ones who go out every week anyway… plus, he’s not studying at NLIU either so I guess he’s someone I can talk to when I’m in a sump with the rest of them.
With that, I decided to place a mental note on the problems I have yet to solve and brought my phone up to reply.
Jae-in: Hey, man! What’s up? What’s with the sudden private message?
Dawn: Well, I’ll just ask if you happen to be free tomorrow evening, right after your class. Let’s head for a stroll at Metro Station for a change?
This dude has got something to tell me. He’s got to be sandbagging on something otherwise he would not have messaged me in this form. I could literally hear him through the screen. I’m willing to bet on it.
Jae-in: Yeah, sure… I really don’t have anything else planned after tomorrow’s classes. Oh, but it’s the class I share with Shinwon. Do you mind if I tag him along?
Dawn: That’s very convenient then! I was just about to ask him the same thing. Go ahead and ask him if he’s up to it, but I would appreciate it if you limit it between the three of us.
Jae-in: Why…? What’s going on? Did you suddenly commit murder or something? Do you need help hiding the body?
Dawn: Hahaha hell no, brother. This is something serious. I figured I want to ask your opinions on things, and Shinwon’s inclusion is a damn good addition. I hope he goes as well.
What is this dude up to?
Oh wait…
Jae-in: This is about a girl now, isn’t it?
Dawn: Hey, I’m going to save things for tomorrow so we can enjoy it between a cup of tea or cola or something. No alcohol and I insist. At least we have something to talk about. Don’t forget to message me tomorrow, okay?
Jae-in: Alright then. Save the best for last, I guess? Lmao
Look at this idiot…
This is most definitely for a girl.
Hyojong has always been quite the ladies’ man ever since. I would not be surprised if that was the case.
I could almost envy his enthusiasm to finding the right girl.
Let’s see where this goes. If it works out then at least I should take notes from him, I guess.
---THE FOLLOWING DAY---
In lieu of recent events with regards to the other side of the group chat, it would stand to reason that Jae-in’s enthusiasm to meet Dawn was largely anchored to his curiosity more than anything else. His sudden appearance in the middle of all the chaos of United Kwangya offered a fresh set of perspective to divert him from the lingering guilt of Soyeon. It was already established in his head that Dawn, being a person enrolled on a completely different university than all of them, had a different approach with regards to people. He was the most ‘friendly’ amidst most of them, so Jae-in found the situation to not be really much as a surprise. What he found as a surprise though, was Dawn going all the way of asking them out for their opinion. He cannot immediately think what else Dawn would ask him for because normally his friend would take care of things himself.
Given the conversation Ko Shinwon and Yoon Jae-in shared on their first subject earlier that day, it was mutually agreed that Dawn was planning to ask another girl out. He was to what Jae-in would always tease him, the more ‘tamed’ and toned-down version of Hongseok as he really craves more on flirty conversations than skinship and sex.
Hours passed and eventually the afternoon fell. Jae-in and Shinwon took the long route, exiting through the university hospital to meet with Dawn along the way and ultimately settling to meet on a convenience store near his college. Similar to North Light, strands of people started to walk out of its premises with the only reason being the hourly dismissals.
Jae-in and Shinwon treaded towards the tall buildings of the spread university campus, still engaged in a conversation with regards to their drafting subject. That was when he showed up; the man of the hour Kim Hyojong. He was walking towards their direction, a soft black beanie concealing the rest of his blonde hair while he supplied both of his friends with a wide smile. As he waved his hands in greeting, Jae-in was able to notice the can of soda he held, including the two others lodged on his other arm with his sling bag’s strap lay dangling on his back.
“Hey!” Hyojong said with utmost enthusiasm as soon as he approached the two. As per usual, he gave them mutual fist bumps even with the sodas and joined them on their walk. “I went to pull my luck and hope that I bump into the two of you. The convenience store is so jam-packed with med students racking in some coffee for the night classes so I had to settle for a little take-out.”
“Well, going way up here was a good call then. Jae-in and I were about to stay at the internet café just to chill and wait, so it was better that we walked up here,” Shinwon added.
“I agree,” Jae-in said. “Had we agreed to stay there and things did not turn out the way we thought they would, you’re going to walk all around just to get to NLIU’s main gate. It’s crazy when you think how large of a space the university actually occupies.”
“You would have been tired the moment you arrive at the shop,” said Shinwon in agreement. “Well, let’s just cut to the fucking chase… to what do we owe the pleasure, Kim Hyojong? This entire ordeal seemed pretty serious considering you’re pretty much MIA most of the time. This is such a huge development. Kino would flip if he hears this.”
Dawn smirked. “I can’t help it. I figured I had to tell it to someone. However, this is not the place to talk. You guys okay walking all the way to Metro Station?”
“Of course, I mean look who you’re talking to. We literally have Jae-in with us.”
“As for the time,” Jae-in added, nodding. “We have all night. Go ahead and we’ll listen.”
“Damn, you guys are as reliable as ever; well except for the one time you misdirected me on Yeouido, Shinwon. I’m never forgetting that.”
“Hey!”
“Anyway, let’s head on. We have a shit ton to talk about.”
---
“Okay, we’re here embracing the beauty of the city’s best malls while we tread its premises… so could you please just cut it with the suspense and tell us what the hell is going on?” Jae-in said with an obvious tone of sarcasm, wedging himself between the two figures of his friends.
“Fine then, I think I’ve stalled long enough,” Dawn began as that time he swapped positions with Jae-in and became the one wedged between them. “So, for starters, I think it was already a given fact that your boy Dawn talks to a lot of girls, right?”
“Oh really, you do? Can you please tell us something that we don’t know yet?” teased Shinwon.
“Hey, I’m being serious, man! I’m trying to intro this in the smoothest way possible!”
“Okay, okay, so… let me guess… you found a girl amongst all the ocean of people you’re talking to, and hoping to hop to the next level of that talk you asked Jae-in and me for help. How does that sound?”
“That feels way too accurate of a guess,” said the other friend, Jae-in from the other side of the trio. “I think that you just hit him spot-on.”
“It does feel like a suspicious guess, but nevertheless accurate. It does sound bad when you put it up that way, though,” Dawn replied with a smirk and transferring his gaze towards Shinwon’s grimace.
“Isn’t it bad, though? I mean, you don’t usually end up doing that no matter how serious it gets,” teased Jae-in. “What made this any different from the past ones, hmmm?”
Kim Hyojong hesitated for a bit, cleared his throat, and then proceeded to talk with a clearly retreated tone.
“I… I happen to stumble upon a girl… Nayeon…  when I was sending people tons of messages… it went down initially as a random conversation here and there and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her because she replies so quickly…  it eventually evolved to our ideal types and of course I had to spill mine to her.”
“Ah-huh…. And….?”
“Well, apparently this girl I was talking about introduced me to someone she thought would be suitable for me and that is judging by all the conversations we had prior to that arrangement. She organized a lunch date for the three of us a couple of days ago, and there I finally met the woman that I wanted to talk about.”
Three…?
There’s more than one girl this guy’s talking to?
“Wait, hold up,” Shinwon interfered. “I’m confused… so this person that you initially talk to was not the same girl you’re intending to ask out, but rather her friend?”
“That’s what I am trying to explain man… listen carefully because it is very complicated.”
“I mean, my expectations were low but holy fuck.”
“Anyway, so I was successful on talking to this friend of hers and I was thoroughly interested on where our conversation would lead, but then she eventually posted a photo on her story with a couple of her other friends and damn I was so stunned with one of her friends bro. She looked so amazing. I knew when I first saw her I’m immediately hooked.”
“What the hell?” Jae-in replied as he stifled a laugh. “I thought you were already talking to this Nayeon girl? How come that it was her friend that you’ve suddenly developed interest on? Is it really that complicated? You just took a 90 degree turn out of her way!”
“Hey, in my defence, I was just talking to Nayeon because she looked like a fun person to talk to, and I was right! Turns out Nayeon and I had a lot of things in common that we’re easily getting along, so when I asked the name of the pretty person on her story she immediately went off and arranged a date for us to meet without an ounce of hesitation. It was just the very first day and yet I’m already mesmerized with her. Damn man, she’s so breathtakingly beautiful.  I learned that her name was Kim Jisoo, which I thought was as pretty as her face could ever be.”
Jae-in silently placed his palm over his forehead while laughing to himself, along with Shinwon fighting his urge to do the same.
Hyojong was definitely something else.
“So, have you gone already and talked to her or at least add her profile?” asked Shinwon. “That way you could at least talk to her directly and not pushing things through with this Nayeon… I mean, this Jisoo girl might think that you’re into her friend and not her.”
“Well, no… Not yet. Of course I wanted to jump right into it and talk to her almost immediately, but my conversation with her friend, Nayeon, stopped me. She said that Jisoo was the type of person who always trusted her first impression on someone that adds her on social media. With that, I checked my wall and realized all the bullshit I’ve been sharing for the past few weeks and they were really embarrassing. Good thing Nayeon told me about the whole first impression thing and I’ve got time to evaluate my profile for it to be interesting for her, but with its current setting I’m pretty sure I got a lot of things to work on first.”
Jae-in knit his eyebrows.
“Didn’t it occur to you that maybe this Jisoo has already taken a peek on your profile by now? You two have literally met, and even if you say that you’re talking through Nayeon, it’s almost impossible to believe that she didn’t even get curious with what you’ve got in store. I’m sure at some point she’s taken a peek to it.”
“I placed a quick remedy for that and temporarily hid all my posts,” Dawn said nonchalant, earning a look of surprise from Jae-in’s end. “I made things as private as I could, and thankfully Nayeon was quick enough to understand why I did that.”
“Wouldn’t that make Jisoo’s impression worse if she sees? That would appear so suspicious; it’s as if you’re trying to hide something… in this case you are, but you know what I mean.”
I honestly don’t see the point why Dawn had to go onto such huge lengths. Maybe there’s something in that first impression that he really values, or an essential element that I’m morbidly lacking.
Until I know what that is, I still feel like this entire overhaul is so unnecessary.
“It might, but the way I look at it… I’d rather delay it for a short while than let her see it the way it is now. In the small chance that she’s not paying attention, then there’s my lucky strike. I’ll be able to change everything before she could even see how crazy I was.”
Shinwon turned a gaze towards Jae-in of which the latter was quick to return. Their eyes met for a brief moment yet they already spoke a ton, perhaps including how they would try to help Hyojong in his problem. Good thing, Shinwon was quite the quick thinker and decided to head on to the route that Dawn was probably trying to steer the conversation into.
“You know what…? I think Jae-in and I could relate to you better if you show us what she looks like. At least then we can see if she’s worthy of our approval, right Jae-in?”
“H-huh…? Sure… I guess…?”
“One sec,” replied Dawn in quick fashion as he immediately fished his phone from his pocket, in turn directing the three of them to seat at the nearby bench within the mall. Seconds later, he flashed a photo of two ladies smiling towards the camera, proceeding to hand his phone over to Shinwon for him to see further. “There. Jisoo is the one on the left and Nayeon’s on the right.”
Shinwon eyed the picture carefully, and then his eyes widened.
“HOLY SHIT, THIS IS THE GIRL YOU’RE TALKING TO?!” he exclaimed, pointing towards the photograph. “Holy shit man, she looks like a goddamn model! You’re so fucking lucky!”
“Dude, that’s Nayeon you’re pointing at.”
Shinwon shifted his finger towards the other girl.
“She is so beautiful!”
Dawn emitted a soft chuckle.
“I get it, they’re both pretty so I get why you’re confused. It was just Nayeon’s idea to bring us together because she felt that we’re… compatible, I guess.”
“Here, take a look Jae-in,” Shinwon said as he handed the phone over.
With that, Jae-in held the phone with the two ladies pictured perfectly. Sure enough, there was no denying that they’re really pretty, and even that felt like an understatement to him. However, perhaps his subsequent fallout with Soyeon caused him to be really disinterested in anything romantic, even down to the smallest details of praising a person’s visuals. He could see why Dawn would take a liking into her, it’s just he could not give his honest opinions about her. He really could not care less.
“She’s pretty,” he concluded, sufficing a smile while returning Dawn his phone. “I can see why you’re interested on her. He looks exactly like you’re type. I approve… I guess.”
“It’s decided then; you get both of our approval,” said Shinwon. “Now, tell us of this plan of yours.”
Dawn straightened his back and sighed, trying to gain confidence.
“Thanks to Nayeon, we know that she likes a good impression. With that, I want to overhaul everything in my profile, man. The picture, the cover, the bio, even the clothes, and anything else I could change to improve a good impression towards her. I want her to get an impression that I’m this chill, reserved yet humorous dude just by looking at the photo. That’s how I want to present myself to her so that she could approach me easily even through messaging.”
Shinwon choked and coughed while Jae-in wide-eyed his statement.
“Damn I didn’t expect it to be that far,” said Jae-in. “You’re re-doing everything from the bottom to the top.”
“I mean, come on man; when was the last time that I’ve been this much of a simp for a girl, hmm? You’ve seen her; you’ve seen how good looking she is. I want to at least match that. I promise you, once this works out, it would be really worth.”
“So where do we come in?”
“Ah, I need your skills and your knowledge. Do you know someone who has knowledge on photography? It’ll be better if it’s someone we know closely. I don’t know if there’s anyone at the United Kangaroo or whatever, who’s into this kinds of things, but I just want things to be perfect in her eyes and I want to look as best as I possibly could get. I need a good photographer, and I’m speaking here because I’m willing to pay the price for it.”
Jae-in suddenly remembered something.
“Hey what’s wrong with this huh?” Shinwon smirked as he pointed towards Dawn’s current fit. “You’re pretty okay with your current setting man, why don’t you just jump into it right away? You don’t need to re-do everything just… just tweak a couple here and there, maybe?”
“I feel like if I do it this time, I’m not going to achieve anything of the sort and I think I could things better. You know, it should start of as booming as it could be so she could get immediately overwhelmed with how carefully planned my profile was. With that, she’ll be more interested on knowing me and hopefully it could be the ground to start things off, harvesting the seeds I planted from the date and from our future conversations.”
“Well I think you can get those things even if you stay true to yourself. Let me use myself as an example; I barely even give some thought into what I’m wearing every day and it’s my confidence that’s bringing me to the next level. I don’t think you really need to go this far, Hyojong, and risk exhausting yourself for nothing. “
“I told you man… I might end up regretting not doing it the moment that it does not work out. Think about it; if I manage to give a good impression with Jisoo then that’s the best case scenario, right? If, however that that is not the case (which I do hope not), then at least I have my profile set up good. It’s just… I can’t explain it. I just want to look presentable because I trust Nayeon’s advice. She might be someone that I would pursue in the long run, you know.”
“Yeah, what I’m trying to say is you can just head on off and—“
“Shinwon,” Jae-in interrupted right as Shinwon was starting to make gestures in the air in front of him. “I feel like we should just leave Hyojong be, you know. I think he’s pretty much decided already anyway. Sure, maybe you and I could not immediately see why he’s doing this, but maybe there’s something going on with his convo with Nayeon and Jisoo that is making him motivated to do this.”
“You’re definitely correct, Jae-in. There’s just something that I can’t explain, making me push through with all of these. You’ll know when you’re in the situation,” nodded Dawn in agreement.
“Also, at least if Dawn fails this entire thing does not work out for him then we know that his profile is already set for the next agenda of flirting, right?”
“Yah”
“Anyway, my point is that… let’s just help him out Shinwon. Trying to get around the bush and forcing this off would just be fruitless and dumb. I say we let him do it and see what comes out from it, right?”
I do wish this works out for him, though.
“Okay then, fine. Then the first thing we should think of is the photographer. Do you guys know anyone reliable for photography?” asked Shinwon.
“Hey, Kino does that part-time, right? Why don’t we ask him?” Dawn said, his eyes widening upon realization. Jae-in, however, shrugged his shoulders in response.
“I don’t know about that one. The fact that Kino does photography is pretty much already given in United Kwangya, but most of the time he’s really lazy. If he’s not on the mood to do it, his natural skills won’t surface even if you force him by bribing a lunch or something. If you like, I think I know someone who could help you, I just don’t know how I’m going to talk them into this…”
“Wait, you’re being serious? You know someone aside from Kino? Are you sure you can ask them for a favour? Are they professionals at this?”
“Well, not exactly, Dawn, but I think it could get the job done. Just let me worry about how I would convince them to do it.”
“Oh right,” Shinwon’s voice suddenly added to the fray, but before Jae-in could even hear the rest of his statement, his mind began to space out.
And there, just as Shinwon and Hyojong were debating whether it was a good idea to ask United Kwangya’s resident ladies’ man, Hongseok, Jae-in immediately opted himself off of the conversation. He turned his attention towards his phone’s blacked screen; his mind generating thousands of explanations on how to even convince a small favour from Ning Yizhuo from that evening, especially on an oddly timed circumstance directed to his friend instead of himself.

Kinktober 2022 Mini Masterlist
Kyungsoo’s fingers dig into the plush skin of your thighs as he pulls you in closer, his tongue laving over your folds delicately. The sweet nectar of your essence that he can taste dripping onto his tongue has a moan building within his chest, especially when he feels your legs trembling around his head as he flicks over your clit once more.
“Divine,” he hums, turning his head to nip at the skin of your thigh.
“You weren’t kidding when you said you were insatiable,” your voice comes out shaky, an airy laugh leaving your lips as you grip the headboard for support.
“For you?” He quirks a brow, gaze drifting upwards to look at your face, and loving how he can see your chest rising and falling with every breath you take. “I can never get enough.”
The moment his tongue is back on you, dragging through your wet folds and teasingly circling over your clit, you throw your head back in bliss. Your eyes flutter shut as your one hand comes to tangle in his hair, a soft moan of his name escaping your lips.
“What about-“ your breath hitches as he sucks that sensitive little nub of yours between his plump lips, “what about you?”
He releases you with a particularly wet pop. “What about me, Dearest?”
“Don’t you want me to-“
“Do not worry about me right now,” he cuts you off, his eyes shining at knowing the fact that you want to touch him, to please him, too. “Simply focus on the pleasure that I’m giving you. Let me take you to the gardens of ecstasy that only I can. Seeing you enjoying yourself, feeling you dripping onto my tongue with that sweet nectar of yours is enough for me. There is no greater pleasure for me than your own.”
The way your heart races in your chest at his words, the way your cheeks warm at his honesty, has your head spinning. Your whole body shakes as he smiles up at you, only furthered when his tongue begins it’s languid strokes over your clit once more.
“Kyungsoo,” the soft sigh of his name falling from your lips has his entire being flooding with warmth, but it’s your next exhale that truly makes his cock twitch, “my god.”
He moans against you, eyes fluttering shut in bliss.
Yes, he is your god. Your one and only divinity, as you are for him. He does not know what he would do were you not in his life. A life that did not know joy, that did not understand the vibrance of the universe until you came into it.
Kyungsoo can and will do anything in his power for you, and he’ll start with this.
“Fuck yes,” he can hear the smile in your voice, in your words as you feel him start to suckle on your clit before laving his tongue through your folds once more. “Just like that.”
He can’t help it. With the way you’re moving above him, slowly beginning to grind yourself onto his tongue, coating his lips in your essence, his cock throbs. The next moan of his name that falls from you, breathless and needy, has him reaching for his weeping cock with one of his hands.
Another moan reverberates against your weeping core as he squeezes his cock firmly in his hand, running his thumb along the slit and spreading his precome over the head. Again, he pulls you closer.
Each flick of his tongue, each movement of his lips, he stroke himself in time to. The rolling of your hips becomes more frequent, grinding yourself onto his tongue, and Kyungsoo does not miss this opportunity to match your pace. He can tell you’re getting close, and all he wants to do is bring you over the edge. He’s already right there, he just needs you to fall with him.
Eyes fluttering shut, Kyungsoo increases his efforts tenfold. The sloppy, wet sounds you can hear him making as he continues to eat you out only serve to make you clench, your orgasm fast approaching as his tongue coaxes it out of you. A few more licks, and your eyes roll into the back of your head, your release washing over you as he suckles your clit into his mouth, wanting to draw out your pleasure for as long as he can.
The sight and sound of you coming above him, for him and him alone - because of him - has him following right behind. Muffled grunts escape him as he feels himself paint his stomach with white ropes of his release, his own body trembling right alongside your own as you attempt to catch your breaths.
Slowly, he detaches his mouth from you, watching as your body jolts from each small touch against your still sensitive core. He smirks as he meets your gaze from above him. His grip never falters on your one hip for even a moment as he pulls you back into him, your juices already leaking down his chin as he licks his lips.
“It would be a shame to let all of this sweetness go to waste.”

A Flower Under The Rain [Part 3]
Characters: Baekhyun, Kyungsoo and Kang Gyuri (OC) Genre: Angst, Romance Au: Hanahaki!Au  Type: Series  Word count: 4,393
It all began with a cough and then, a subtle sting in her chest. Kang Gyuri cried, knowing that in a matter of months, she would be another figure in the death toll of the most dangerous and cruelest outbreak in human history.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8-1
Tumblr media
Gyuri was exhausted. She felt shattered and filthy, as if there was a layer of sage and mud over her skin. She desperately needed a shower, a comb to fix the mess off her hair, and something close to bleach to wash off the sugary aftertaste of her tongue. She wanted her bed so bad, especially as she walked herself home, lost deep in her thoughts, and she came into her house to find her parents in a hug.
It wasn't a rare sight to her. They always thought they were discreet with their displays of affection and thought she never caught them, but she did. She grew up admiring the shared and secret smiles and the stolen kisses every morning before her father left for work quite sweet. The giggles and lighthearted conversation late at night when they talked about their day were just the sign of another good day in their family. She was used to the displays of affection. However, the silent tears they were shedding were out of the ordinary.
The sound of the door shut brought their attention back to her, and no force on earth could ever help her prevent her eyes from filling with tears as well. Her father was crying and unable to contain a sob; he walked to the threshold to wrapped her in a tight hug.
“My pumpkin.” He cried, and the tightness of his arms around her shoulders broke her into pieces again.
Gyuri cried and cried. She let the fear take over her body, her mind, and her feelings. Caving into it, she let in the dread to devastate and destroy every hint of hope and peace she ever had. As she found herself in both of her parent's embraces, she just wanted the curse to take her body away and, to be over with it. She didn’t care. She did not even want to care anymore.
Her parents barely let her go, not even stay away from their sight for a second except for when she took a shower and got ready for bed. Gyuri ended up spending that night in their room like she always did when she was a little girl and was scared about the smallest of things. Feeling minuscule in the world and lost and gone in the dark, she cried herself to sleep between them as they cried along with her.
She must have been too drained to have any dreams or nightmares, although it wasn’t a peaceful night either. Waking up around midday, feeling just as tired, Gyuri came out to the kitchen to find her parents waiting at the table. There were cups of tea served, her father was reading the newspaper, which meant he must have asked the day off, and her mother seemed lost in her thoughts. They looked disheveled and out of place, just as she felt.
“Good morning.” She whispered, coming close to the table, and their heads turned around to her, their expressions visibly relaxing.
“Finally…” Her mother breathed out in relief, standing up, “we were getting worried.”
“Are you hungry, sweet pumpkin?” Her father said, setting the newspaper down and focusing on setting up her set of dishes on the table.
In a matter of minutes, Gyuri was seated in between her parents, having a late breakfast, and she couldn’t remember that last time she had a meal. Her father had to remind her a couple of times, stifling a laugh, that she had to slow down and take it easy if she didn’t want to choke.
As lighthearted as the atmosphere was for a moment, it turned heavy when she finished her food. Gyuri wasn’t entirely comfortable about talking about the diagnosis yet. However, she was aware that her parents needed it. They needed to have something to hold onto.
“How do you want to handle all this?” Her father asked as he poured more tea into her cup, “your mother filled me in about yesterday’s appointment and Dr. Kim’s suggestions.”
“He even gave us some pamphlets.” Her mother added, reading through one with a deep and unconvinced frown.
“I threw up petals yesterday.” She confessed, and if the house felt already heavy and stuffy, it suddenly was even quieter, still, and desolated than before. “I guess I don’t even have six months anymore.”
Both of her parents lowered their heads, probably to hide their pained expressions, but she could hear their desolation. Listening to her mother’s muffled sobs and witnessing the subtle tremble in her father’s shoulders was more heartbreaking than she could ever imagine. Gyuri had nothing else to do but stay still, gripping her cup of tea, and waited for her parents to grief as she shed her fair amount of tears in silence.
“What do you want to do?” Her father asked after a while, sniffling as he wiped his tears.
“I don’t know.” She admitted, offering a napkin to him. “Can we keep it between us? At least until I figured it out.”
“Absolutely, pumpkin,” her father beamed, forcing a smile.
“Does that include that man?” Her mother asked, and Gyuri noticed the spite in her voice.
“Do you mean Baekhyun, mom?” She retorted, amazed at how easily her sentiments towards the guy changed.
“Pumpkin...”
“He can’t know,” Gyuri stated, her voice strong and steady, despite the mess inside her.
From all the questions and doubts, the fear and anxiety, one thing was not open to debate, and that was that Baekhyun could not find out about her illness. He couldn't know about her suffering, and even less, her eventually gruesome death. If she was sure of something, it was that she could never inflict that kind of burden on him, even if he was inadvertently responsible for her pain.
“He can never know.” She decided and stood up before her parents could protest. “I’ll be in my room.”
Gyuri locked herself in her room, in turmoil and reeling with questions and doubts. Despite all she knew, she had no idea what to do next. She wasn’t even entirely sure of how she was feeling most of the time, let alone having plans for the last months of her life.
Feeling her mood somber again, she opened up her laptop to indulge herself in the arms of the internet and its fatalist disposition. She lost track of time, jumping from patients' stories forums to medical journals with the latest results on vaccine research and then to blogs with reviews on the edge technology procedures. She paid particular attention to the Gardener Ritual, which was essentially a root removal surgery developed by Japanese scientists. The more she read and dug around about it, the more convinced she felt about how hopeless her situation was.
Surgery did not work. The roots could be successfully removed, but there was proof that the recovery stage was even more painful than the actual disease. However, it only took a glance of the beloved one to make the roots grow back again, faster and more lethal than before. In a blink of an eye, all the effort and money were thrown into the garbage. Gyuri didn’t even have the small fortune needed to get the procedure done. Surgery was not an option.
Some other theories seem more feasible. Gyuri could simply confess her true feelings, but it was proven that it only triggered the disease, and people ended up dropping dead right that instant. It was like shooting herself on the chest, hoping she would miss the heart. Confessing was not an option either.
Irritated, Gyuri shut her laptop closed and sulked in her chair. Thinking about everything and anything, she realized how angry she was at herself. She was beyond annoyed for not managing to compartmentalize her fear effectively and just focus on herself to enjoy what was left of her life. So what was she supposed to do? She had heard people talk about conquering the heart of that special person, but she couldn't wrap her head around that idea.
She has always been fidgety and almost mute, fighting her anxiety most of the time. It didn’t matter how kind and sweet Baekhyun was; he would never see her as anything else other than a little sister that needed his constant help. Gyuri didn’t have the guts to just fully and head on confessing her love for her best friend. She wasn't even his type. Baekhyun liked…she didn’t know for sure, but he dated only pretty and dumb girls. He had always been attracted to outgoing people that would keep up with his antics, unlike her.
Gyuri perked up. All of a sudden, she had an idea, as though a lightbulb appeared above her head. She had been too preoccupied with her situation, worried about the pain, considering all the possible cures for the damned disease, and Baekhyun’s taste in women that she didn’t realize the implications of what the ciabatta man said.
If he was still alive after six years of catching that nasty curse, it meant he was outliving the disease. Plain and simple. Gyuri rushed out of her room to find her purse and everything else she had with her the previous night.
“Mom, where is my purse!?” Gyuri asked out loud, skipping the last two steps of the stairs, suddenly feeling unexpectedly excited.
“I put it back in your closet.” Her mother replied from the laundry room, “and the sandwich is in the fridge.”
Gyuri halted. She didn’t order a sandwich. She barely made it out alive of that place, let alone have time to order anything. Something minuscule in her chest softened when she opened the fridge and found the same paper bag the ciabatta man placed in front of her before leaving the restaurant. She couldn’t even recall carrying it back home.
The memory of the familiarity and comfort she felt from that man only made her rush back to her room, frantically looking for the book. Gyuri found herself smiling when she finally found it on one of the shelves of her closet.
Sitting back at her desk, she threw the bag away, and almost as if it was sacred, placed the book in front of her. After a moment, she opened it to find the man's phone number on the first page, right below the dedication, and the words filled her eyes with tears.
“To the ones the world seems to choose as undeserving of love.”
Never such a short sentence felt as accurate as of that one. Life indeed judged her and ruled her as undeserving. That simple notion shattered her heart into pieces, and looking at the several notes she wrote down and placed all over her desk, she realized she had to give up.
Maybe he had an answer. Perhaps he had a tiny bit of hope to share with her, but the possibilities of her beating the curse as he did, were impossibly scarce. She realized then, staring at the digits of his phone number on the page of her book, that she didn't even know his name. He was a stranger, and how could she possibly expect him to help her out of this.
The doorbell of her house rang, and Gyuri almost jumped off her chair. Neither she nor her parents were expecting any visitors, but suddenly aware of the time, a sense of fear dawned on her. On instinct, she grabbed her phone, and not only did she get a new text, but found at least a dozen of unread messages, all from the same sender.
Why are you ignoring me?
Gyuri read the text, shivering at the meaning of that question as she went downstairs because she had one valid reason that was more than enough to want to avoid him. As if the dread of her fate wasn’t enough, she noticed the house was unusually and unsettlingly quiet, and that could only mean one thing.
Baekhyun was there.
Gyuri didn't have a chance. She couldn't even prepare herself to brace the situation. The man itself, the one that had her heart in a twist, found her in the living room, and her entire body reacted. Her every cell leaped, throbbed, and exploded just to see him.
It scared Gyuri that in a blink of an eye, she took in on every small detail about Baekhyun. She could tell that he was just out of work because he was wearing sneakers, baggy pants, and an oversized hoodie, and his hair was still somehow done.
Almost as if she had forgotten about the ever-present buzz of the curse in her chest, she heard it turning up as she did the smallest thing like just staring at his face; his pretty face that was. It went even louder when she saw the stricken lines across his expression and his thin and rosy lips pressed together.
Baekhyun had known her and her parents long enough to read the room and give them space. He knew when he had to step back and let her family work it through, even if it wasn’t something that happened often. This time, he looked back to the kitchen, nervously as if he was expecting something to happen, and then looked back at her sheepishly.
“Is there something wrong?” Baekhyun asked quietly. He sat on the couch, making himself at home as usual. Although, for the first time since forever, he looked genuinely uncomfortable. “Your parents seemed a bit shaken, especially your mom.”
“Family stuff.” She muttered, still watching him from the same spot at the stairs.
Her heart was pounding. Her head ever so slightly spinning just to see him there. The sting was acting out again, flickering a little, coming and going from one side of her chest to the other, ready to burst through her mouth. Gyuri was afraid of making the slightest movement and triggering a symptom in front of him.
“Wanna talk about it?” He asked, looking at her from the couch, and Gyuri had to look away.
The worry in his voice was palpable. The seriousness in his eyes and the subdued precaution in his movements were also genuine. This was the Baekhyun she fell for. The Baekhyun that took care of her. The one that worried about her wellbeing, the one that felt so close to her, she could call family.
Just to think about that, the sting buzzed harder, and Gyuri placed a hand over her chest, trying to help her heart to calm down. She still felt shattered and disgusted from the first coughing fit. She could not afford another one so soon and by no means in his presence.
Slowly and eyeing him as if he was a dangerous animal ready to attack, she walked around the couch and sat down on the other side, as far away from him as possible. In a matter of minutes, Baekhyun was sprawled over the couch as he watched a variety show. On any other day, he would have his head laying on her lap or they would simply share one of the pillows. None of that was happening that day. She was stiff and putting all of her strength in seating straight so the tip of his toes wouldn’t even brush her thigh. Gyuri couldn't dare herself to let any of that happen ever again.
Time went by, and eventually, Baekhyun moved around and was suddenly closer to her. His head was dangerously near her reach. She just stared at him and had never been that self-conscious and aware of him before. He was lost in whatever was happening on the screen, munching on sausages and cheese sticks only God knew how he produced out of nowhere. She just looked at him, chuckling at the lame jokes or mimicking the dialogues. As she kept on admiring him in silence, she remembered the first time they watched a movie together.
Gyuri wanted to slap herself on the face at her obliviousness. Now that she knew exactly what was creeping around her heart and lungs, she felt like an idiot for not noticing before.
Baekhyun had always been the one to initiate the contact aside from her parents. He was the one that hugged her for the first time and leaned into her, resting his head on her quite regularly. He was the one that pouted to her so they could snuggle on a winter movie night. She could vividly remember the way he ruffled her hair, the few drunken kisses on her cheeks, and every time he held her hand.
More than anything, she remembered her bashfulness whenever he was at her place. He would pout and throw tantrums because she never allowed him to be that close to her, let alone snuggle. At first, she told herself it was all appropriateness and decorum, even shyness, but that was all a lie. She watched him laugh loud enough to choke on one of the sausages and then realized that it was all proper infatuation. She saw a smile spreading on his features as he chuckled at himself and his dumbness, and she just knew she was already lost.
She never thought Byun Baekhyun could be the one that could have her reduced to a lame bundle of nerves and giddiness. Gyuri found herself smiling, and the longer she looked at him, the more she felt the sting softening. She could barely feel it at all, so she embraced the alleviation, as risky as it could be.
Gyuri lost herself admiring her best friend, his perfect profile, as his delicate hands kept pushing cheese sticks into his mouth. Not wanting to let her mind wander around that particular part of him, she distracted herself with his hair which looked different. She could see the highlights that weren’t there naturally and the several shades of brown perfectly done.
“Your hair is different,” Gyuri said to herself, her fingers instantly reaching out for a strand.
“Mina insisted I would rock the highlights,” He said casually, “do you like it?”
Gyuri’s arm froze just in time before she could touch his hair, and a rush of irritation spread across her body, covering her limbs and mind. The pain was back and thumping against her rib cage. She didn’t even have a clue of who Mina was, but the dreadful wave that her body fell into was enough indication that whoever that was meant soreness to her core. She had to look away and focus herself on something else other than the pain.
“Are you sure everything is alright?” He suddenly asked without drawing his eyes off the screen, but she knew well enough that his attention was on her, “You've been weird lately.”
“I’m fine.” She retorted, suddenly annoyed and practically boring holes in the center of the screen.
“Was it the grumpy little man that upset you?” He asked, and she glared at him, rolling her eyes at the annoying smirk displayed on his face. “How was the movie?”
“What movie?”
“The one you guys went to see...” He wanted to know, and this time, the smugness was gone and replaced by something she couldn’t tell what it was, “How come you never told me about him?”
Assuming that Baekhyun’s observation had to do with something the ciabatta man mentioned the day before, Gyuri remained silent and made a mental note to ask him about it later. She played along with that, and refocusing on the screen, she shrugged innocently but deep down, her heart broke a little more.
Just like he never mentioned he was dating again, Gyuri desperately wanted to ask the same and reproach him for keeping that piece of information from her. Just to think about it made her stomach churn and her head spin, despite her efforts. She didn't have it in her to be like that.
“How was the doctor’s appointment by the way?” He changed the subject.
Baekhyun tried to sound cool, but she could recognize the edge in his voice even with the variety show blasting through the screen. Gyuri refused to fall into that sound even if everything in her desperately wanted to look around and just stare at him and his touching interest.
“It looks like you still have that nasty cough. I hope the new meds can get rid of it.” He pointed out, “Is that why your parents look tired?”
As if the question itself made him realize something, Baekhyun sat up. Crossing his legs, he positioned himself closer so he could look at her better and not miss a thing.
“Is everything alright?” He asked again, leaning ever so slightly to observe her intently.
Gyuri cowered under his piercing gaze as his eyes went around her face looking for the truth. While he stared at her so thoroughly, she had to gather every ounce of willpower to lie. Although she wasn’t expecting it to be so hard and even more so, so painful. If she was expecting to keep him in the dark about her impending death, she had to try really hard.
Gulping the knot that threatened to come up her throat, Gyuri managed to nod in response, and Baekhyun simply squinted his eyes at her, not entirely convinced. She would normally try to convince him with a well-thought and articulated argument. But as things were revolving inside her chest, doing something as simple as opening her mouth meant a high risk of uncovering the truth. She couldn't afford that.
For what felt like the longest seconds in history, Baekhyun gave up, and with a nod, he laid back down on the couch again. Gyuri almost let out a sigh of relief. She managed to dodge his worried questions, but the uneasiness oozing off him was more than obvious. For starters, he wasn't comfortable anymore. His phone resting on his chest kept buzzing every few seconds, making his leg bounce more in impatience.
For the entirety of the runtime of the tv show, Baekhyun ignored the device that didn’t seem to stop buzzing. She knew he wasn’t paying attention to it nor to whatever was going on on the screen. Her best friend being there simply to watch some random variety show was only an excuse to be at her place and dig around. He was insistent, and whatever the ciabatta man told him the day before wasn’t enough to satisfy his curiosity.
“I have to go.” Baekhyun said, standing up as if the couch was on fire, “I have to pick up Mina.”
As in daze and taken aback by the abrupt end to the visit, Gyuri followed her friend as he walked back to the front door. He was leaving just as suddenly as he arrived, which was out of the ordinary. Baekhyun never missed the chance to spend as much time as he could at her place, especially if it meant staying for dinner.
“Will you ever tell me what's going on?” He suddenly asked, turning around to look straight into her eyes.
“Tell you what?” Gyuri squeaked, genuinely taken by surprise and standing on her toes as she barely managed to stop her momentum and crash against his chest.
She heard the buzz of his phone on his hand, and that made him resume his way to the door, but Baekhyun wasn't ready to leave yet. He opened the door and halted there, looking at her. Gyuri realized then the importance of this peculiar visit.
Her efforts and the ciabatta man's lies were not enough to fool Baekhyun. She wasn't nearly as good as she thought to hide her symptoms and afflictions in front of him, and of course, he was there, ready to offer his hand and help nonetheless.
“You know you can always talk to me, do you?” He added, reluctantly stepping out of the house, just waiting for her to open up. “If you ever need help.”
Gyuri nodded, unable to do more and not wanting anything else but for him to finally leave so she could breathe again. However, everything turned for the worst when he leaned closer and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
The world was suddenly upside down.
His fragrance. His warmth. The safety of his embrace. Gyuri felt it all just as overpowering as she felt having her face pressed so softly, so delicately, and so shielded against the crook of his neck. The sensation of his hand on her back was so steady and firm that for a split second, she forgot herself.
"Call me if anything happens." He whispered before letting her go.
Baekhyun gave her a small and comforting smile, and just like that, as soon as he showed up, he was gone. Gyuri closed the door, and the world around her instantly seemed to collapse and crush her along with it. She heard her mother’s trembling voice calling her and her father's closeness amid her dizziness.
“I’m fine,” Gyuri replied with a croak, not realizing how hard it was to breathe, let alone talk.
Her father was holding her, barely keeping her straight and standing on her feet. Her mother showed up in front of her, tears falling down her face as she struggled to open the tin can the ciabatta man gave her the day before.
“How are you feeling, pumpkin?” He asked, handing her a couple of candies.
“It’s fine.” She lied, her insides twisting again, “I’m fine, I just need to rest.”
Gyuri was far from alright. She needed a lot more than just rest, but she wasn't strong enough to acknowledge that yet, at least not her parents, and untangling herself from her father's grasp, she forced her legs to go to her room. Gyuri mumbled empty promises as she muted her mother's cry and ignored her father's protests. Almost blinded by the tears, she finally reached her room.
Locking the door behind her, Gyuri fell to the floor, letting the pain take over again and squash her heart until she had no more tears to shed. She dragged herself to her desk and grabbed the book. Rubbing her hands against her eyes to stop the tears from falling and the sting from spreading, she saved the number on her phone and wrote the text that hopefully could take some of her pain away.
He cares too much.

chapter 3
Your eyes were restless as they moved back and forth from the bathroom to your paper on your grasp. It's only been 10 minutes, but you felt like you've been waiting since yesterday.
Kyungsoo started working as soon as you told him what happened to your shower. He was just as silent as he was in the café, swiftly taking out his tools and observing the shower head down to the knob. You just watched him for 5 minutes until he spoke.
"I think the water pressure is too low, that's why the water is not properly coming out of the shower head." His eyes roamed around the bathroom, stopping at the sight of the main valve under the sink. He adjusted the valve and tried to open the shower again, but it still didn't work. "Nothing's wrong with the valve. Can I check the shower head?"
"Yeah sure." You just nodded as you watched him take the shower head and tinker it. You looked at the time and was thinking of doing some of your work as you watch him here. He was so serious as he disassembled the shower head carefully. "I'll just be right here when you need something."
"Okay."
Now, you're sitting near the bathroom door with eyebrows furrowed as you read through your files. Fortunately, you have a chair and a coffee table near your bathroom. You can still see him from here, and he was standing by the sink as he checked the interior of the shower head.
"Your shower head clogged up. There are some mineral deposits in here that block the water ways." He spoke in a loud voice but it was still pleasant to listen to. Your mouth gaped as you stood up. "Just needs a little cleaning. You can use vinegar if you want."
"Oh, uh. I'll get a spray."
The shower head needs to be cleaned too? I didn't know shit. The landlady didn't tell me.
"Here." You said as you gave him a spray with vinegar. He took it from your hand and sprayed a generous amount on the opened shower head. You saw how there were clumps of minerals stuck on the holes where water was supposed to pass through. "Is it necessary to clean that every month?"
"Well, maybe every 6 months. If you have so much time on your plate, then you can clean it every month." Kyungsoo glanced at you and to your table with laptop and papers. You looked away, cheeks blushing as you felt his observant stare. "Let's test it then."
After soaking the shower head in vinegar, he washed it meticulously before putting back the cover. He reached up to assemble it back to the holder. You were watching closely as he turned the knob—
"Kyungsoo-ssi!"
It seems that he forgot that he was still in the shower.
Your mouth gaped more as he blinked his wide eyes in surprise. His hand seemed to be frozen wrapped around on the knob, while his dark hair slowly became damp with the continuous flow of water from the shower head. You looked away as you saw his white shirt stuck to his body.
"Ehm, i-it seems it's working well now." You awkwardly said as he turned off the shower as if nothing happened. You quickly took a new towel from the sink cabinet and gave it to him. He still has his back turned on you. "Here's a towel, Kyungsoo-ssi. You might get sick."
When he heard his name, he instantly turned to you with his eyes averting yours as soon as he met them. He must be really embarrassed. You fought the urge to chuckle and just handed the towel to him with a smile. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
"I'll wait for you outside. Dry yourself up. Dryer's here." You looked at the left side of the bathroom and pointed at the dryer beside a cabinet. "I have a hair dryer under the sink too."
After that, you left him in the bathroom. You cleaned up the bathroom beforehand anyway, making sure that the private essentials were kept hidden and stored away. It was only 30 minutes since he started, and it wouldn't be appropriate if you served him tea at this time, right? You went to the refrigerator and saw that you still had one iced coffee in a can. You stopped by the oven and realized that you haven't eaten dinner yet.
"My mac and cheese." You gasped as you took it out from the oven, all cold and gloomy. "Let's just reheat it again." You shoved it back to the oven and timed it for 10 minutes. You heard the dryer work inside the bathroom and saw Kyungsoo peeking at the doorway. "Need something?"
"Do you have bug spray?"
You didn't expect him to ask that out of all the questions or requests he could have asked. Putting down the can on the counter, you went to the storage cabinet near the living room. You sighed in relief when you saw the bug spray.
"Here." You handed the spray to Kyungsoo, who was staring at the ceiling with wide eyes. You followed his gaze and saw a huge cockroach. "Oh shit."
"You should be really cleaning your bathroom, Eunjoo-ssi."
"I feel so dirty and ashamed."
Wonho chuckled as Hanbin continued to eat his hamburger. You were eating lunch with the two in Subway, which was a block away from the office, and you told them what happened last night. You took a bite of your chicken teriyaki sandwich, slowly savoring the taste as you reminisce.
"He's just advising you, as a plumber and a worker, to clean your bathroom. There's no shame on that—"
"He's basically telling me that I'm irresponsible!"
"Noona, you need to chill." Hanbin patted your shoulder as he drank his soda. "You said he was a nice guy, right? He gives freebies in the café across from our office, and he's even well-known among the old people."
Wonho just nodded in agreement as he sipped on his coffee. You munched on your sandwich with hesitation. Maybe you were overreacting, not used to having anyone judge your apartment or your bathroom at that.
"I would have laughed it off if it were me 'cause I know I can't clean my bathroom meticulously." He added with a grin, a smudge of mayonnaise plastered on his cheek. You threw him a sheet of tissue before eating again.
"Anyway, are you guys going to join the trip?" Wonho brought up the topic, making you groan. He shrugged. "Brings back a lot of bad memories, huh?"
"What happened? Is this the annual trip?" Hanbin raised his eyebrows as he wiped his cheeks.
"You were probably an intern back then. We went to Yongmeori beach before, and we all thought everything was prepared well." Wonho glanced at you. "Until Mr. Lee forgot to check the hotel he was supposed to have reserved."
"What? How's that even possible? This is a company trip, he should have been more aware." Hanbin looked so intrigued with his eyebrows furrowed while looking at Wonho. You sighed.
"He had a secretary before, who was loyal until that time. That secretary didn't actually reserve rooms for the hotel accommodation, probably because she was too angry with the boss. Everyone hates him, and we always wondered how that secretary stayed for 2 years." You finished your sandwich with the last bite after, watching how the young one widened his eyes.
"And then, since we didn't have hotel accommodations, and Mr. Lee's favorite back then was…" Wonho gestured his hand towards you, making Hanbin's mouth gaped. You rolled your eyes at his dramatic narration. "Nam Eunjoo."
"Heol. Noona carried the responsibility?!"
"Mr. Lee always had this impression about her that she was good at navigation and negotiation because she came from the province. A basic stereotype to be honest. Since he didn't have a secretary after his previous one resigned, Eunjoo took all the burdens off his hands." You tsked at yourself as you remembered how awful your boss was when his secretary went off. "She became known as the all-around girl in the office."
"It might sound really impressive, but being an all-around girl is not that pleasant. In the office, it just meant you're prone to Mr. Lee's unnecessary orders and lectures." You drank your iced coffee with a frown.
"Nam Eunjoo-ssi this. Nam Eunjoo that." Wonho imitated Mr. Lee's voice, his forehead wrinkling as he copied even the expression on his face. Hanbin laughed as he nodded in approval. "In the end, she was the one who successfully booked everyone in a hotel. She wasn't a local there, but Eunjoo has a way with her words and kind look—"
"Yah! Stop it now." You slapped Wonho's arm in annoyance as you stood up. "Lunch's over."
"Look at her, such a responsible—"
"I'm not listening to this."
You felt better after talking to your friends. To be honest, you didn't have any close friends from your university or highschool that you still talk to until now. It doesn't really help that you weren't raised in the city, or that you weren't very sociable like one who enjoys the nightlife. Sometimes, you felt like you were not fun to be with as you didn't know how people of this urban city made friends.
It's not like you went out of your apartment to meet people aside from work.
You can't even talk to your parents and sister without them bringing up money or how lucky you were to be living the dream. What's so special in the city anyway? You couldn't see it. If it were for your well-being only, you would choose to continue living in the province. Without the pollution, without the noisy streets, without the dense population, and without the pressure. You're sure you'd be more at peace without them messing up with your mental health.
You tucked in the freshly made bungeoppang inside the paper bag you were hugging before entering the café. You were welcomed by the smell of coffee and bread, and the calming instrumental music in the background. Walking towards the counter, you didn't see Kyungsoo anywhere, slightly disappointing you as you went here with an intention.
"Iced coffee with whipped cream, please. I'd like a slice of strawberry cheesecake as well." You ordered as you placed the money on the tray. The cashier repeated your order before taking the money. Your eyes were still subtly looking around, but you still couldn't see him.
You were already sitting on your usual seat and halfway to your cheesecake, but the guy that was supposed to be here was not around. Blowing a raspberry, you thought of how you bought these bread for him as thanks. After all, he just left after fixing your shower head.
Maybe I am too much? I should just probably eat these at home.
As soon as you finished your drink and snack, you went home without seeing Kyungsoo.
It was the weekend already, aka laundry day.
The apartment building didn't have its own laundry services, but it was close to one. You packed your week worth clothes and your bed sheets in a large bag at 6 am. After eating breakfast, you just took a shower and went out.
"After laundry, I'd clean the house and jog in the afternoon. Read my books, and watch my fave drama." You sang your schedule for the day as you walked out of the building with a smile. You were happy as you didn't take home any work for this weekend. Thankfully, it was quite light in the office.
The laundry shop was across the street and just a few buildings away. It was beside a few small businesses such as woodworking, convenience stores, and a bookstore. You opened the glass door with a struggle as you carried two bags, and sighed when you got in. There were only two people inside: the grandmother who was usually here, and the person in-charge at the counter.
"Goodmorning, halmeoni." You politely greeted with a smile. She turned to you with a pleasant smile and gestured at the washing machine next to hers.
"Goodmorning, Eunjoo-ah." She said in a loud voice. She was very lively despite her age, making you want to be livelier when talking to her. "You're early as usual. You know, you should sleep in when it's the weekend, honey. You always work hard."
"I sleep well when it's Friday, so it's okay if I get up early. It's the weekend, and I should get the most out of it, right?" You chuckled as she shook her head. "It makes me happy to clean up and just do my hobbies on Saturdays. Sleep is awesome, but I want to be a little bit productive when I have my free time, you know."
"You're just too diligent, you can't stay still and rest. Just like this boy I met last week, he's working on at least 5 part-time jobs. No matter what I say, he just doesn't listen to this concerned old lady." She sat back on the bench as she waited for her laundry, while you started placing your clothes on the machine next to hers. You sorted the pants and tops, and planned to take the other machine for the bed sheets. "He comes here on the weekend too, just not sure if he'll come in the morning as he has a part-time job. He's just too busy that I can't keep up with his schedule."
"He must be a student then, or like me?" Wanting to continue the conversation with the talkative old lady, you asked.
"No, he's not a student. Ah! He is totally like you. You took on many part-time jobs before too when you got to the city, right?" The old lady's eyes lighted up as she clapped her hands, surprising you. You glanced at her, chuckling at the excitement in her tone. "He's from the province too. I just forgot where he came from, hm. Oh!"
"You must really like this boy, halmeoni." You continued to shove in the rest of the clothes before closing the washer's cover.
"Kyungsoo-ah! I thought you wouldn't come. I was waiting."
As soon as you closed the cover, you stood face to face with the guy you've searched for at the café. He was wearing a striped flannel polo shirt and a plain black shirt. His hair was a bit messy, but he still looked pretty good.
Pretty good, huh, Eunjoo.
"Halmeoni, you just get up too early." He spoke in a deep voice. It sounded as if he just woke up. It was warm and pleasant to listen to as usual though. "Eunjoo-ssi, you're here as well."
"Oh, oh, oh! Do you two know each other?" The old lady asked in a teasing tone as she pointed at the two of you, her eyes turning into crescent moons. "That's good!"
"Uh, I met him at the café he was working at, just right across my workplace." You awkwardly nodded at Kyungsoo as a greeting as you shoved a few coins on the machine before clicking on the washer's button. Kyungsoo just placed his bag on the washing machine across yours. "He's also a plumber at my apartment building. It's a pretty small world."
"Hmm, I call it destiny." The old lady giggled as she quickly stood up from her seat. She slowly walked to the vending machine nearby with a smile, which was clearly suspicious. "I'll just get coffee while waiting. Just talk among yourselves, okay?"
She was already skipping her way to the counter before you could even respond.
"She's quite loud, huh?" You almost jumped at the voice, not expecting Kyungsoo to speak first. Not knowing what to do, you just sat at the bench as he placed his things inside the washer. "She talks as if tomorrow wouldn't come, but she's probably just enjoying talking to everyone she knows because she's lonely at home."
"Yeah, she told me her daughter has her own family. She's the only one left at their house." You glanced at the peeking old lady by the vending machine, she quickly hid again. You chuckled. "Sometimes, I think I'm the older one between the two of us. She's filled with so much light and youthful thoughts. She's surely more fun than me."
"Couldn't agree more."
Your eyes snapped back to him. He was already staring at you with his big eyes. They were shining and curious. It was hypnotizing. You blinked it away before you could feel more shy.
"You just always looked stressed when you were at the café." He continued as he closed the cover. He clicked on a button before leaning on the machine, turning to you. "You always look at the window, eyebrows furrowing as if you were drowning yourself with your thoughts. Well, I thought it was common for the city people."
"That's a stereotype, but I couldn't disagree." You laughed, making him chuckle. "My workplace is basically right in front of the café, so where else would I feel more stressed? Just looking at the building makes me think of my boss' face."
"You got a point there." He said.
"What about you? I heard that you work at least 5 part-time jobs?" You casually asked as you leaned back on the bench. "That must be hard."
Kyungsoo looked down at his feet as his hand combed his hair swiftly.
"It was hard at first, but I got used to it, I guess."
What he said was very familiar as you have probably told that to yourself a number of times before. You smiled bitterly with that thought in mind. You could hear his deep sigh as he sat next to you.
It was like you were already comfortable with each other. With just a few words told to each other, you felt as if you knew him already.
"That's what I've always said to myself, you know."
"Yeah?"
"But it's always difficult." Your voice wasn't soft, and it surely wasn't comforting. You didn't dare to look at Kyungsoo, scared that his eyes will see more than what you show on the surface. "I mean, it might seem like it's getting easier as time passes by, but in reality, you're just becoming numb. You just feel less, and more empty."
Silence came after you said that.
Kyungsoo didn't utter a single word.
Maybe I said too much. I was too emotional. I shouldn't have said such depressing thoughts.
"I bought you two a can of coffee. I hope I'm not disturbing." The old lady came back with cans in her hands. You gratefully took one and moved on the other side of the bench to give her space in the middle. She instantly talked to Kyungsoo, asking him about anything. You didn't really care.
An hour passed and you were almost done with your dirty laundry. The old lady already left, leaving the two of you in silence. You thanked the heavens as soon as the last batch was finished. You took them out of the washer and placed them back on the bag. Kyungsoo was sitting on the bench, making you feel a bit conscious for no reason.
"I understand."
You halted on zipping the bag as you heard his voice.
"What you said earlier, I understand your sentiment. I'm not saying that I have felt that way before, but it's valid." He spoke carefully as if walking on thin ice that might break if he takes a wrong step.
You smiled as you zipped your bag.
"Yeah, thanks for listening, Kyungsoo-ssi."
You walked away from him, feeling a bit lighter with what he said. You opened the glass door carefully, but was still struggling until a hand pushed the glass door back to help you open it fully. The smell of coffee and wood was familiar as it was a pleasant combination in your favorite place of comfort.
"I'm not too sure about earlier by the way." He said in a low voice as you got out of the laundry shop. You turned to him in confusion, wondering why he is making this conversation harder to end. He was leaning on the door frame, keeping the door open as he talked.
"About what?"
"About Mrs. Kim being more fun than you." Kyungsoo's lips slightly curved as he looked away. Your cheeks slightly warmed, your hands gripping your bag handles tighter. "Tell me about it next time."
He is basically asking you to tell more about yourself, so he will be more certain about his point. You came up with this lousy excuse as you kept your face straight. Your cheeks were trembling as you fought the smile creeping up your lips.
I'd like that, Kyungsoo-ssi.
"Well, I hope you won't fall asleep when I do."
"I have a feeling that I won't."

Kaifectionery Round 6
Tumblr media
bioluminescence
Genre: Sirens, College AU, Roomates, Slow Build, Slice of Life, Fluff, Fantasy
Rating: PG
Length: 7,088 w
Summary: Jongin is made to room with a siren, one of the very few, non-human creatures living out in the open. He seems to be a really nice guy. Probably. Sadly, Jongin doesn't get a word of what he's saying.
Beams of light (Where Darkness Cannot hide)
Genre: Touch-Starved, Foul mouthed Kai, Servant Kyungsoo, Pet Jongin, Kai is Bad at Feelings, Threats of Violence, Abuse, Boys in Chains
Rating: PG-13
Length: 3,568 w
Summary: Kyungsoo's life wasn't exactly spectacular as a servant of the royal family, but he still finds it leagues better than serving under the people calling themselves so called 'revolutionaries'.
Now he would say each moment is like walking on egg shells, on glass.
And it doesn't help when their pet, the hellhound, Kai shows up one night in the kitchen looking for a meal.
He can only wonder if this will make things better or worse in the long run.

Some educational points for marines:
1. The boys are happy to have a break. You should be happy they get one.
2. Harassing government or business in South Korea is literally embarrassing and unhinged. Stop it. It will resolve nothing and you’ll look stupid.
3. Military enlistment is not…war. It’s preparation because…I mean there are some volatile countries around them, ok. If you know South Korea history (you probably don’t) then you might understand why this is done. A lot of times they serve in light duty areas, like police stations and even like…in music and entertainment areas. Or they could be like Kyungsoo of EXO and serve in one of the toughest military ranks. Who knows, my guys??? But either way, it’s not what you think it is. I promise.
4. Do not, and I repeat DO NOT, harass other groups bc you’re petty and sad. This does nothing except show that you’re pathetic, rude, and racist. Because you think Beetees are the only ones with rights to kpop when kpop existed long before they did. Trust me, Beetees got plenty of inspiration from groups before them - they are not as original as you think.
5. Maybe take a break from kpop if it makes you this mad. I follow so many groups and many of my men have gone to serve in the military. I wait, and they come back, and it’s better than ever. Heck, I’m waiting for the entirety of ONF (except yuto) to come back. If fuses can wait for an entire group- you can, too.
6. If you life is over and you’re enraged bc a kpop group went on hiatus…girl. You need help.
Ok goodnight.

100 Days My Prince - Part 93
Part 93 – 8 Congratulatory Notes
Fluff
Character:
EXO Members except for Baekhyun
Reader
‘No comeback without Baekhyun.’
853 words
“Hmm…. why do I feel today goes really slow?” you are just finishing your lunch with your colleagues and returning to your office.
You check your phone for any incoming messages. You are surprised when there is new chatting going on in the chatting group where you and EXO members are in without your husband, Byun Baekhyun.
Suho: Testing, testing….
Xiumin: Yah! What are you testing about?
Suho: Wait. I should test before sending more messages. This is the group where we have Y/N but without Baekhyun right?
Chanyeol: Hyung, read the group name.
You: Yup, I’m here though.
Lay: 🤣🤣
Kai: Yah, Park Chanyeol! Don’t bully my Hyung!
Chanyeol: Yah, Park Chanyeol? Yah, Park Chanyeol????
D.O.: Yah, you two. Stop chatting. It’s noisy. I can’t concentrate on this new song.
A few minutes have passed.
Chen: Wow, you two really listen to Kyungsoo then, hahaha. Wait, Sehun? Are you just becoming a CCTV?
You: Is he even here? Isn’t that he’s abroad now?
Chen: What do you mean he’s abroad? Look. He even read my earlier message.
You: Hello Mr Sehun. Hello? Hello? Are you on the line? Oh, he’s disconnected. Let’s remove him.
Sehun: Yah! Okay, okay. I’m here, I’m here.
Chen: Oh wow, didn’t know that method works.
Lay: 🤣🤣
Suho: Wait. Lay, are you going to answer us with only emojis?
Lay: Well, I was, at first. Because I don’t have anything to say.
Xiumin: Say something, Lay. I miss you.
Chanyeol: Wow. Hyung….
Xiumin: What?
Chanyeol: Nothing.
Kai: Eiiii Hyung, what are you thinking?
Chanyeol: Oh, I thought you are going to say Yah, Park Chanyeol again.
D.O.: Guys…. Who’s the admin here? Let’s remove these two.
Kai: Eiiii Hyung. Kyungsoo Hyung. Are you in a bad mood today?
D.O.: No. I just want to concentrate on the new song.
Xiumin: Focus then. Why are you even looking at the phone? Whose turn to record the song?
Suho: Chen.
You: Oh wow, so, you’re not going to tell Baekhyun about this new recording then?
Suho: We did though.
You: But he said he is only informed about the comeback, not the recording.
Suho: Oh, oh yeah, I forgot.
D.O.: Aigoo…. I can’t with this Hyung.
The rest of the members are replying with a laughing emojis.
You: So, will Baekhyun will also be going to involve in this recording?
Suho: Of course! No comeback without Baekhyun. He’s the main vocal with Kyungsoo and Chen.
You: But they have a comeback without you last time they did the “Don’t Fight The Feeling.”
Suho: Aish…. This jokester….
You and the rest of the members are replying with laughing emojis once again. You are also laughing for real in your office.
You: But he’s still in service now.
Suho: But he will be discharged this Sunday, right?
You: Yup.
Suho: That would be no problem then. He usually memorises any songs faster. So shouldn’t be a problem for him.
Sehun: Wow…. What about us? Kai, what about us….
Kai: I know right….
Chanyeol: Serves you right. Go serve the country right after the recording. Then you should be able to catch another comeback at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Xiumin: Yah. What’s wrong with you two today? Should I remove you two?
Chanyeol: No, no. Sorry.
Kai: Hyung. We are just doing a brotherly love here. Please don’t get misunderstood.
Xiumin: Aigoo….
You are smiling when reading their chats. You continue to stay in the group chat before going back to work.
Lay: Oh. Y/N, could you help pass my congratulatory message to Baekhyun? Baekhyun! Congratulations on your discharge! Discharge fast, record fast, comeback fast!
You: Hehehe, okay. That’s cool!
Suho: Yup! Wait. Let me think of the congratulatory note too.
D.O.: Y/N, when he said ‘let me think,’ you better ask him later or he will forget about it.
You: Hahaha, I will.
D.O.: I will send you in the personal message chat. Better.
Lay: I don’t care. I’ll just send it here.
Sehun: But, if you send it here, then Baekhyun Hyung will know this group.
You: It’s okay. I’ll take a screenshot and crop then send it to him.
Sehun: Then, he will know that we have a group without him….
You: Like he doesn’t know you have a group without me, D.O. Oppa and Kai Oppa during our surprise birthday party?
Sehun: Heheh…. heheh….
Xiumin has been silent for a moment. You expect that he is the next one to go to record after Chen when Chen goes back to the chat.
Chen: Oh, sorry. Let me think for a moment. I just finish recording.
You: Xiumin Oppa? Is he in the recording room now?
Suho: Yup. After Chen.
You: Lay Oppa?
Lay: Me? I recorded it earlier when I was in Seoul last time.
You: Wow….
Suho: Alright. Let’s think of the congratulatory notes we send to Baekhyun. There are eight of us, so, 8 congratulatory notes overall.
D.O.: And Y/N, don’t forget to ask him back or he will forget.
You: Hahaha…. Okay, okay.
And you return to your work after the chat.
To be continued….

Hi there! I really love your work! Thank you for working so hard to create an amazing fanfic for us 🫶🏻. I have a request for you. Since I'm a typical person who finds comfort in angst stories, could you please write an angst story about Kyungsoo based on his song 'The View'? Thank you very much!
Answer: when I got this request I literally SCREAMED. Thank you @sooadorable for the request! I have been writing a series and wondered how I could introduce it, and this is the best way because it lines up with the story perfectly! The series is entitled “Romantic Universe”, which contains 4 standalone intertwined stories featuring Kyungsoo, Chanyeol, Jongin and Baekhyun. I have been writing Kyungsoo’s for over a year and this is the product. I hope you enjoy this, thank you so much for the request and all of your support! Dividers by @saradika-graphics

Tumblr media
I stare out into the vast open sky from my living room floor, the sunset paints beautiful colors that canvas the atmosphere above the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean. I can get lost in moments like this, the times where my head is completely clear and I take in everything around me.
Slowly, effortlessly, the yellows become the golden flecks in her gorgeous eyes. The wind is her touch, soft and sends chills down my spine. The reds are her lips when she gets ready for date nights, putting on lipstick just for me. Even though she didn’t need it, she looked so spectacular in that shade of red. The waves are the promises we made, consistently rolling back to me to remind me that I failed to keep so many. Being here in this kind of scene just isn’t the same without her.
I watched my wife, Mila, walk out of the door and never turn back due to my own stupidity. I haven’t slept well since she left. I haven’t been able to eat on some days. Nothing in my life feels right anymore.
Our vacation home in Malibu looks out onto the shore, for the times we needed to get away from it all and spend time together. Tonight is my last night here before I have to fly back to New York to finish my album and I wish I could stay here longer. It’s the closest thing that I have to being with her.
Everywhere I turn, there’s pieces of Mila in every single thing. She’s in the clouds, the wind, the moon that grows brighter and brighter by the second. The last six months have been hell without her.
Watching old videos of us together has to be a form of self harm, but this is the only way I can see her smile. My eyes are glued to the screen as memories play out from different points in our relationship. From moving in to our first apartment together after we got married. From traveling to Korea to see my family. Waking up in Spain on our European tour together to staying up late in the studio to our honeymoon. I’ve replayed the honeymoon videos over and over, mesmerized as the events play out on screen. We were so young, Mila was 20 and I was 22. I need to be honest with myself, it wasn’t a honeymoon… It was our elopement at Mila’s grandparent’s ranch in Mexico. We stayed in the guest house on the ranch, and it was the happiest we’d ever been.
"Come here." My voice whines from the TV.
"No! Why are you recording us? It’s so weird!" Mila giggles. I grab the phone and the focus is Mila sitting with her leg tucked under her with cheeks tinted pink.
"Look at you, Angel." I breathe, calling her by her nickname. “You’re so gorgeous and you just woke up.”
“Soo!” Mila blushes. She tries to cover her face but I won’t let her.
“Don’t hide your gorgeous face from me.”
The engagement ring and wedding band on her left hand glimmers on screen. The rays of morning light filter into the room and it can’t even compare to her smile. She didn’t need to try at all, she just naturally glowed. I love it when she’s this way, no makeup, hair down and only wearing my t shirt.
I pull Mila by her waist into the frame and kiss her, my arm protectively still around her. I tease her by tracing her lips with mine and smile between kisses, placing her into my lap. I lean and prop the phone on the bedside table and we're in full view on the bed. Mila’s hands run through my hair, something she did when we’d be intimate like this. Her smile fades as she wraps her arms around my neck.
“Soo… I’m worried. I’m scared that us running off and getting married is going to make things worse with my father and brother.” Mila expresses. I press my forehead against hers, holding her tight in my arms.
"Listen to me. No matter what happens, my heart is yours. Angel, we’re married. Nothing can separate us. Not Sungho, not Chanyeol, no one. I know that we both took a risk when we didn’t tell Chanyeol that we were just dating. He’s your brother and my best friend. I can’t imagine how hard it was for you to keep that from your brother. You’re everything to me, my best friend, my life. All I care about is that you’re happy with this decision. They’ll come around, we just have to give it time.” I say lowly.
Mila nods her head, her hands glide down my shoulder to my forearms.
“I hope Chanyeol will come around, him and I are close and I never expected he’d react in the way he did. With my father… He may take longer but it’ll be okay. I’m beyond happy. This feels so right, yeobo.” Mila smiles again, and it’s a personal victory that she’s glowing again. “I just… Don’t know how I feel about you filming us in bed. It’s kind of…”
“Jagiya, stop. This is for our memories. This is our honeymoon. I had to document just how gorgeous you are when you wake up in the morning. You make the world around you envious.” I whisper, caressing her face.
"This is like a dream. I don’t want to go back to reality.” Our eye contact is strong, it never deviates from one another. I run my fingers through her hair and cup her face in my hands.
We fall into a deep kiss, molding ourselves to each other. We break slowly and a fire is ablaze in her eyes, full of want. She pushes me down onto the bed, I roll over until I’m on top of her.
“Look at me, Angel.” I straighten her gaze back to me by guiding her jaw back to face me. I lean down and kiss her velvety soft lips, my hand slides down to her throat. Her soft whimpers fill the room as my lips roam her jaw and down her neck. I stop at her shoulder and smirk into the camera.
“Mila, you’ll never forget this.” I say into the camera and nip her collarbone. She shrieks and holds onto me tighter. Before we go further, Mila grabs the phone and laughs.
“Nice try, Mr. Doh.”
We laugh and she cuddles into me, stopping the recording. I turn the TV off. Seeing my wife smile like that is something I haven’t seen in a long time. Tears threaten my eyes as the moon glows brighter. I can’t even remember when I started drinking or how I got halfway done with my bottle of Tennessee Whiskey. Now there’s nothing left but reminders that she’s not mine anymore. I shouldn’t have been working so much, prioritizing everything else over her, or even worse… I shouldn’t have been such a jealous monster. Being young and stupid, I’d bubble over with jealousy if a man just as much as gazed at her.
To be fair, Mila is a beautiful woman inside and out. She’s so selfless, humble and never afraid to be herself. Mila is known around the world for her music, to say she’s talented is an understatement. Watching her onstage is like a dream, she bursts to life when she performs. The entire world gets to see the woman that I am so proud to call her my wife.
Her physical beauty is just a bonus. Her sun kissed skin seems to glow, her plump lips framed her adorable smile perfectly, I could lose myself in her gorgeous eyes if I could. Her body is a gift from God, effortless curves that would hypnotize me the moment she’d walk into a room. She came right out of my dreams, everything about her is perfect.
It was never a secret that men pined over her and how gorgeous she is. I never checked my jealousy, something she never deserved.
I was certain every man she came across fantasized about her and wanted her the way I wanted her. I was so certain that it made me crazy. It was so bad that we started to fight all of the time and she finally had enough.
I open the sliding glass door to listen to the waves. The warmth from the whiskey offsets the cold night air, I wait for Mila’s arms to hug me into her embrace and when it doesn’t come, my heart splinters. I handled winter and spring without her, but summer reminded me how much worse it is that we’re separated. How she takes shape in the view.
“Mila… I miss you…” I whisper into the night air. The stars and moon start to sway and my vision clouds over. I rub my temples and turn my back to the ocean, glancing over at the divorce papers on the counter. I wrecked my brain relentlessly over what made Mila want a divorce. I didn’t cheat on her, I didn’t ever lay a hand on her and I didn’t lie to her or kept anything from her.
We could work on our problems easily, if she’d just allow it. Our last fight was the worst one, I can’t even remember what words were exchanged but that didn’t matter. What haunted me was that I made her cry. Something I swore I’d never do. I wanted to fix it and Mila wanted nothing to do with me.
Divorce papers.
This is not how I expected our relationship to end. I didn’t want it to end at all. I have to prove it to her that I’m going to change… Once the room stops spinning…
I stumble back and collapse onto the couch, closing my eyes to continue the memory the week we spent together on the ranch when we got married. Mila and I were in bed, cuddled up during one of our late nights. Mila’s fingers dance across my chest, her eyes heavy with fatigue.
“Promise me something, Soo.” She whispers.
“Yes, Angel?”
“Promise me that no matter what happens, we’ll never give up. We’ll never separate. Even if times get difficult, I don’t want to give up.” Mila pleads with her eyes.
“I promise you, Mila. I’ll never give up on you or us. If we somehow get lost or strained… We’ll fix it. I’ll fight for you until the very end, that’s my promise to you.” I reply, kissing her forehead.
“I’ll fight for you too. I’ll fight for us. This is different… Marriage is so different from just dating. You and I are in this together for life. I know I’m stubborn. I know I’m difficult to deal with, I’ll do better.” Mila smirks. I laugh and pin her under me, my forearms are on either side of her head.
“Your attitude is very easy to deal with. You’re a brat sometimes but it’s nothing I can’t handle.” I laugh, kissing her slowly. “But you’re mine, whether you like it or not.”
“I love it. I love you.” Mila smiles. “Our promise is sealed with a kiss, isn’t it?”
I kiss her mouth and cheeks, nodding. “Of course it is, Angel.”
The memory fades from my head. Everything she said that night resounds in my head. I can’t sit her and feel sorry for myself and drink myself to death anymore. She made me promise her that I’d fight for her, and that we’d never separate. It’s my fault she pushed away, it’s my fault she doesn’t want to be near me. I have to fight for her, I have to keep my promise.
The first thing I decided to do is not sign the papers. If Mila wants a fight, that’s what she’s going to get. I can’t take her just being a memory that I can see in the world around me. She has to see that she is my world. She’s my view.

A Little Piece of You: Chapter 3 Love Potion
Tumblr media
This is chapter 3 of an ongoing series. If you missed out on the previous entries, you can check my masterlist here.
---
“Your face is really red, you know.”
Those were the first batches of words I heard from Ningning as I perched alongside her. I thought I wanted to retort back with a snarky and clever sentence but my head was too bungled up with everything to even think of something funny. If it was not for the glass-protected railings of the Penthouse, I might have pushed my glass to fall on the street below just for humour. Yeah, I was THAT drunk, yet ironically I was aware of the urge. Anyway, I didn’t even immediately process what Ningning had said to me and I merely smiled in return in the hopes of covering how drunk I really was.
“It’s always been like this for me, so I’m pretty much used to it. I tried drinking a couple of times before and it always turned out like this. I’m surprised that you’re not back at the table exchanging stories with the rest of them, by the way. It seems like Soyeon’s ranting here and there. She could use your advice, you know… I don’t think there’s any good advice she could get from us guys.”
“I’m not really good in that aspect so I don’t think that there’s that much I could do. I’m just trying to let the alcohol pass, that’s why I’m here. I think I drank way too much it’s getting on my senses.”
“That seems to be the case, yeah. You were guzzling those glasses as if they were your last, you know.”
“You’re one to talk. I saw you do the exact same thing and treating the liquor as if it’s just another kind of drink… a juice, perhaps or even refreshment. I’m surprised that you could still walk to the rest room without knocking anything over.”
“Well, they call it beginner’s luck,” I said as I smiled back. “I’m just here curious how this entire idea feels like. My sister’s not entirely cool with it, but I guess once won’t hurt now, won’t it? Plus, the cocktail… the so-called ‘Love Potion’… it really tastes good once you really get used to it. It’s more of a satisfying beverage at some point. If only I would not get really dizzy after drinking more, I would have beckoned myself for another glass.”
Ningning smiled after a short silence broke, and then she continued.
Tumblr media
“There’s no way this is just going to be a one-time thing; not when Hongseok’s in the friend group and even Kyungsoo, even Shinwon for that matter. It’s almost impossible to decline a huge invite especially when you’re not really paying for anything.”
“At least I have good role models, I guess. How about you? Drinking too much like that could only mean something, especially from the point of view of a person who really does not drink a lot. Do you have a problem, by any chance? I might not look much but I think I can help… maybe….”
God what on earth am I saying to her?
“I just figured I could use a break,” she replied with a shake of her head. “University work is literally beating the shit out of me. A little distraction would be nice, which is why I’m here. It won’t solve anything directly, but at least I get to relax and take a breather.”
“Ah, I know a good distraction; I discovered a small coffee shop not far from the Uni’s main gate. You should check it out. They serve really good coffee.”
For the first time since standing beside her, Ningning turned her gaze and actually faced me; her eyes gleaming in the pale moonlight.
“I mean, it’s a good unwinding spot if you have nothing to do,” I continued. I honestly don’t know what I’m even saying at this point. Random bullshit, go, I guess.
Let’s just hope that it works. It’s the alcohol that’s making me talk.
“I’ve actually been there,” she replied while still keeping her gaze on me. “They do serve good drinks. It just annoys me sometimes that there are a lot of people who stay there when I need a seat, and that is saying that it happened to me a lot of times now.”
“It’s a testament to how good their coffee is. I think I’ve tried almost every single one of it so I can testify; it really is good.”
Before I could even continue, I was startled by the sound of Ningning actually bringing her barely filled glass between us with a nod, as if she’s trying to imply a toast for us both.
Of course it was a universally recognizable gesture and so I beckoned ahead and clanged my glass with hers. We then both proceeded to drink the remainder of our glasses as we gazed off into the evening.
“So you’re trying to loosen the alcohol up as well, huh?” she asked amidst the ensuing silence.
“I am. I certainly don’t want to go home like this, despite how late it is in the evening already.”
“You can do that while staying on the table, though. You said it yourself that Soyeon’s ranting about something; if anything she could use your advice more than mine. No matter how stupid it sounds, I think it’s better if it’s coming from you rather than me,” added Ningning. “You seem to be the type who’s into those kinds of things. You had that aura about you.”
“Yeah I really didn’t catch the whole story since the beginning so all I’m hearing now are her frustrations. I might end up saying some things that are not what she wants to hear, especially with this confidence that the Love Potion has given me.”
Ningning smiled.
“Well, if you’re trying to loosen up before heading home, I suggest you stay here longer. Your face is really red I could easily mistake you for a tomato. Surely you won’t like for your sister to see you like that now, would you? I certainly won’t let you head home with that face either; definitely not.”
“Don’t worry, I don’t really intend to—“
“YAH…!” interrupted the shrill voice of Soyeon going louder than the blaring music. It was enough to sway both Ningning and me and turn towards her for the sudden commotion, just in case it was something that was going wrong. However, it could also be that she’s just answering back to either of the guys she was talking to, and the shrill voice mas merely and emphasis on her point. It turns out; she actually yelled out of spite and pointed towards both our directions.
“YOU TWO JUST MET AND YET YOU’RE ALREADY DATING IN FRONT OF ME. YOU DARE YOU DO THAT TO A PERSON THAT JUST CAME FROM A HEART BREAK, ESPECIALLY YOU, YOON JAE-IN!”
“Oh my god, she’s drank so much it’s already getting to her head,” Ning whispered to my left. “You got to forgive her; not all people let the alcohol pass like we do.”
“We’re not dating, Soyeon-ssi; we’re just letting the drink pass down!” I called back towards her.
“’NOT DATING’ MY ASS; YOU WERE SECONDS AWAY FROM KISSING NING! I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED IF IT WERE ME, JAE-IN!”
My god, it’s turning weirder and weirder by the second. The fact that my other drunken friends are joining on the train by laughing their asses off certainly did not help the situation. Fuck.
“Can you please do a new friend a favour and head back there for me? They won’t listen to me at this point because they’ll just tease me,” Ningning asked before she turned her back again towards the dark horizon, swatting my face with her lengthy hair in the process.
I nodded in response although I’m still not sure what she’s implying I do. I was actually about to head back to the table when I was greeted by the sight of Soyeon leaving the table first. Kino was already napping while Kyungsoo transferred his attention to the still-talking Shinwon and Yeri; perhaps wanting to put them on the hot seat. Soyeon was clearly out of her balance, tripping almost on every stool that was placed in front of her and sending some of them crashing around. I immediately went out and caught her just as she was close to both Ningning and I’s positions, her breathe clearly emanating a strong tinge of the Love Potion’s remnants.
“I knew that you were such a gentleman, Jae-in,” she said with a dreamy haze, supplying me with a wide smile as she rested her weight on my body. “You looked really good under the moon and stars for tonight, you know.”
Wow, she’s so different when she’s drunk. Oh my god.
“Ning,” Soyeon said towards the figure of the other girl resting on the terrace. “Do you mind if I borrow Jae-in from you for a couple of minutes? I might not bring him back though; I got something serious to tell him…”
‘Something serious’…? What is going on between us that she has ‘something serious’ to tell me?
I was expecting, and half-heartedly wishing, that Ningning would just say ‘no’ due to Soyeon being really drunk in her current state, but instead I got a mere flick of the wrist from Ningning as if to say that she’d care less if Soyeon takes me for her own. Of course, there was a part of panic within me, but then again I doubt there’s anything Soyeon could do on her current state. Ningning then proceeded to down her throat with the remaining liquid on her glass.
Jeon Soyeon pulled me with such surprisingly vigorous force despite her drunken state away from Ningning, and eventually, away from the rest of the table. I was sobered up a bit after talking to Ning by the ledge, and now I was able to notice how empty the boathouse as well as the entire rooftop had been. I lost track of time for sure, but I guess in these types of places, staying up pretty late is quite a normal practice. There were literally no other people present in these premises, and I think the next batches of tables were filled with sleeping people who unfortunately got gut by the alcohol.
Soyeon and I went through the boathouse and beyond, settling both of us far from the main table of our group and into the darker, farther part of the place where we were clearly out of earshot. Her choice of seat perfectly concealed us from the view of the table, and the perfectly placed post further shrouded any evidence that we were even there. Both of us collapsed on the leather seats with Soyeon blocking my view of the table for good.
This must be really serious then if she’s letting me sit here with her away from everyone else.
I just can’t think of anything on the top of my head as to why she’d resort to doing this. What’s the huge deal?
Also… why me? Soyeon and I barely even talked during our lunch out, and we really haven’t had a long enough conversation between us so why would she even begin to trust me with something that only I am supposed to know? I don’t get it.
I don’t get any of it.
“This seems really serious. I just don’t get why you would talk to me instead of the others, Soyeon-ssi.”
“I just… I just wanted to talk to you… in private, Jae-in,” she replied, barely even keeping her voice on point. “I need it to specifically be you, otherwise this won’t work.”
“Are you okay? Aren’t you sleepy already? If you can’t drink, don’t force yourself anymore. Sooner or later we’re already going home anyway. We certainly can’t let you go home if you’re drunk like your current state.”
“Then, if they won’t let me go home alone, why don’t you take me with you instead?”
What?
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, Soyeon then wrapped her right hand around my neck as if to embrace me. I knew she was drunk, but that gesture felt really concise and something told me that she was fully aware of what she was doing.
“Soyeonah,” I said, holding her hand with my own in the hopes of moving it out of my neck soon. “You’re really drunk. I think you should sober up a bit because you’re starting to go all over the place. Let’s head back to the table and clean-up with everyone else.”
I was about to stand when I felt her hand prevent me from even standing up. Once again, I looked back to her in utmost effort despite the faint light of the boathouse.
“Please don’t leave me here alone, Jae-in. I just want to talk to you and I haven’t gotten to my point just yet. Please, can you just spare me a couple of minutes?”
“Are you sure you’re okay? Can you promise me that you’re not feeling dizzy or anything?”
“I can promise you that. I may be a bit tipsy but I sure know what I’m doing.”
Well, I guess I’ll just have to put up with this. I don’t think that I have a way out of it anyway.
“So how are the first impressions doing for you currently?” she asked.
“Everything’s going really well so far… at least I got to say that having alcohol in me gave me courage to talk to you and Ningning otherwise I would not have given in. I’m normally just a shy and timid guy who waits for people to come talk to me.”
“There’s a first time for everything, Jae-in… I really look forward to drinking often with you because you seem to be a really fun guy to drink with.”
“I… I honestly cannot agree with you on that. I don’t know what else I bring to the table other than my presence.”
“Really now…? I don’t think that’s what I saw when I first saw you on the lunch out… I’ve had my eye on you since then, you know… you’re really effortlessly… attractive.”
She’s really drunken her ass off oh my god.
“I… I don’t know what to say to that, Soyeonnie.”
“You don’t have to say anything to that… it’s just the sheer truth. You’re very outspoken and shy like you said, and probably won’t even agree to whatever I’m going to tell you right now… but you don’t have to. I know you won’t anyway, but please let me voice out what I see in you… can you let me do that for tonight, Jae-in-oppa?”
“O-Of course, I can’t see any reason why I won’t let you do that…”
What the heck is going on?
A brief silence emerged between both of us with the loud party music blaring on the background. Even though I was seated right next to her, I could barely even see the outline of her face thanks to the limited lighting. I fell silent, quite unsure of what to tell her, and so I merely stared at the broadcast on the television above.
And then, I felt Soyeon’s head rest on my left shoulder.
---
Soyeon’s gesture alone sent thousands of signals throughout Jae-In’s body like an electric jolt. However, it quickly subsided as soon as he realized what the cause might have been. He then immediately turned towards her figure and spoke.
“Soyeonnie, are you okay? Are you already sleepy?”
“No, I’m not, Jae-in-oppa… I just… I just wanted to rest on your shoulder because I can’t take it anymore…”
What Jae-in thought was just a product of his imagination turned out to be true as Soyeon’s eyes began to get flooded with tears, streaming down her prevalent cheeks and down towards his very shoulder. There was a split-second of panic with Jae-in as he really had no idea how to deal with a crying person, ever more so a girl that he barely just met recently. The fact that it was also Soyeon, a person he viewed to be really open and easy-going, be the person who’s breaking down in front of him felt something that appeared out of nowhere. Regardless, any illusions of leaving Soyeon there and joining the rest of the group were thrown off of the window.
There was no way he’d leave her, not when she just shed every barrier in front of him like that.
“Soyeonnie… are… are you alright…?”
It felt a really cliché thing to ask, pointless even, because it was already obvious that she was crying and that she’s not, but it was the only thing that Jae-in could muster for having to react on such a sudden event.
“We… we have our personal reasons on drinking out t-tonight right…?” Soyeon continued on amidst her eventual crying. “I know that you wanted to try things out… but d-do you know why I c-came here to drink?”
“I… I have no idea; Soyeonnie… is it the same reason as everyone else…? Did you want to meet some new people like we all wanted when we first got added to the messaging group?”
“Maybe that’s what people like you want… I’m just happy to meet some new friends as well, but I also figured it would be nice to lull myself in alcohol this evening… especially because I got to meet an amazing person such as you, Jae-in…”
“You’re putting me too much on a pedestal. I don’t think you’ve know me enough to say how much of an impact I actually do to people, Soyeonnie. I told you… I’ve always been the background character and I’m perfectly fine with that… I’m sorry but I don’t think I deserve the praise that you’re giving me.”
Silence erupted which lasted for about a couple of minutes. Jae-in was not sure whether that was because Soyeon finally caught up to what he was trying to make her understand, or if she’s just too tired to even argue back because the conversation would yield no fruit in that aspect whatsoever. It was an awkward position for sure, but since Soyeon did not show any signs of stopping her crying any time soon, Jae-in thought of ways to comfort her as her friend.
Slowly, he lifted his free arm and brought it behind Soyeon and gave her a soft caress of comfort. He tried to make it as casual as possible; certainly the last thing he’d like to happen was for Soyeon to think that he’s taking advantage of her current state.
“D-do you want to know why I went off drinking tonight?” Soyeon asked.
“Why…?”
“My boyfriend… well ex now… we broke up yesterday… he broke up with me.”
Oh shit
“Oh… I’m… I’m sorry to hear that… I didn’t know… you didn’t seem to have a problem when I first saw you a while back.”
Was that even what I was supposed to say to her?
“It’s okay… I know that I don’t really show too much… I got really good at that ever since we had a fall out two months ago…”
In Jae-in’s head, there’s no real reason for Soyeon to tell him of her life story precisely because they had just met, but also he had to consider that perhaps it was her way of breaking the ice between them. Maybe in Soyeon’s perspective, it’s easier to open up like that and anchor their friendship for something else. The other half of him, however, still felt puzzled nonetheless.
“We’ve been dating for a couple of months now,” she continued. “But it’s about two months ago that we just had a huge disagreement that lead to him treating me differently…  things never became the same ever since. I tried to console him and save what was left of our relationship… I even went to Gangnam to see him; booked us a trip to Jeju for everything, but he refused to meet up with me… he told me to get lost and yesterday, he called it off already…”
“I’m… that’s too harsh, Soyeon… I’m sorry that you had to experience that.”
Soyeon began to sob really hard after recalling the story, flooding Jae-in’s shoulders with more tears as she gently rubbed her eyes against his sleeve.
“It is okay; Soyeonnie… let it all out. It’s better than keeping it in. I’ll listen to you.”
“Is there something wrong with me, Jae-in? Am I not enough that every guy I seem to date end up breaking up with me? Am I not enough?”
“Shh… don’t say that to yourself… you’re enough, Soyeon. You’re more than enough.”
“Then why do I always end up miserable?”
“Maybe you’re just picking the wrong guys; I guess… maybe you’re always choosing the ones who don’t value you, or who don’t see the value in you…”
“What made you say so?”
Oh shit, I haven’t thought of this through…
“You’re really talented, Soyeonnie…. Not everyone can write songs the same rate that you do. Kyungsoo told me what you’re capable of. Not just that as well… even though we really haven’t gotten that time to interact too much, I could tell how much of a caring and loving person you are. Let’s just say that… in a theoretical situation where you’re my girlfriend, I would consider myself really lucky. It’s an honour to be dating the one Jeon Soyeon… I guess it’s just the guys who were really after your fame rather than your heart that you often meet…”
“You can see those traits in me, Jae-in-oppa?”
“Yeah… actually I’m envious of your boyfriend… or ex, sorry. I mean, not in a romantic way or… yeah. The point is, he managed to get a girl like you and yet I can’t even move past the friendship border with the people I get to like. I really don’t know what else to do after ‘hello’, which is perhaps the reason why I can’t find a girlfriend after my last one, did not totally work out. The standards of the people I end up liking were too high that I can’t even fathom.”
“Is that true…? Aren’t you being a bit too hard on yourself?”
“It’s just the truth…”
“What if there’s someone here who’s starting to like you, do you think that they’d like to hear those words escaping your lips?”
“I honestly cannot imagine that someone would do that. I’m not exactly a person who appeals to the majority of the girls, especially on NLU’s standards. It would take a huge bunch of luck if I’d—“
Before he could even finish his sentence, Jae-in was immediately silenced by a soft slap coming from Soyeon’s side. The small gesture was more than enough for him to transfer his gaze to her, only received by Soyeon’s own piercing gaze as she tightened her hold on Jae-in’s neck.
“What if I told you that I’m starting to like you, Yoon Jae-in?”

Hiya Emmy! I planned on just watching a movie a day so I could at least do other things - explore maybe - instead of just staying in for eternity, but I couldn't resist and rewatched Soo's Pure Love starring Kim Sohyun and I just wept 😂😭 Having horrible memory served me well this time cuz the plot was just... 🤧 Now THAT'S the definition of a ✨wonderful✨ summer vacation 😩😭🤧
That movie is soooooo sad too! I love watching Kyungsoo act, but why is he always taking on angsty projects that make me cry so much?! 😭
I would honestly love to see him take on a drama or movie where he literally plays the most fluffy, upbeat, sunshine-y character ☀️. It would be so different from what he usually does and I’d love to see it!
If you are looking for a non-KSoo related movie recommendation, I just watched an adorable movie called ”Little Forest”. It’s a cute movie about a girl who tries to reconnect with her mother through cooking—and it made me super hungry b/c the food looked AMAZING! 🍝
