Wife's Fursona Complete!
Alright everybody, thank you for being patient waiting on this post; unfortunately I have a chronic illness and the last week has been particularly difficult, so most of my energy had to go to other things instead of completing this drawing out of necessity.
Anyway, let's talk about art. Everyone, say hello to my girlfriend's fursona, Calia the fennec fox (gnc she/they). So, this drawing was what I would affectionately refer to as an entertaining nightmare as well as a great learning experience. I was given a reference photo with which to color drop the palette from- but no matter what I did or tried, the color of the fur would not express the same level of vividness on my screen as it did in the original photo despite having the exact same hex code. After multiple hours of trying and failing to get the color to look right, this understandably caused me a great deal of distress and frustration as I tried to figure out how best to go about accurately depicting my girlfriend's fursona. I'm not ashamed to admit that there were a couple times where I had to stand up, walk away, and just take a break for a minute while making this drawing to preserve the little bit of my sanity that I have left. When it became clear that the general knowledge of art composition and color theory that had driven me through my career this far was no longer going to assist me, I knew what I had to do.
Thus, much like every other great artist in the digital age, I had to do that which I both was anticipating and dreading deeply. I had to go to the internet for answers. And go and find answers I did. I went to my program of choice's website, and finally learned how to use the blend layers: multiply, darken, and color burn, which were all necessary to learn how to employ to be able to get the color of this silly little fox's fur correct.
While this drawing was a learning experience for me, and was admittedly somewhat distressing at times, I'm still happy to have been able to redraw and redesign my wife's first and favorite fursona for them.

For anyone that would like to see the original reference photo, the picture below was made by my beloved's amazingly talented and entertaining artist and vtuber friend, Cornbread @cbeedoodles in 2018.

Not fandom related
Hey everyone, so this has nothing to do with anything fandom related, but I've created a secondary blog under the username LeopardSongStudios, if anyone's interested (and above 16yo) you're welcome to check it out. It's a blog dedicated to getting a behind the scenes look at the creation of various furry and kink related art and fiber crafts that I make for my brand (LSS).
Full disclosure, I likely won't ever post anything truly explicit on there-if I do, I'll make sure to change rules to a full minors dni- but if you follow me there, you are likely to see some nsfw items simply because I'm an adult irl, my brand is geared mostly towards adults, and frankly, I have a bit of a perverse sense of humor sometimes.
I'm not demanding anyone go check it out by any means, but the added foot traffic would be greatly appreciated since I'd like to start doing commissions soon, and as I said, anyone 16 and older is welcome to stop by and check it out.

WWWWWWeelcome back wombats!
Last night I decided to take a minor break from the screen and desk for the sake of my eyes and back so it was back to the good old sketchbook and pencil for me. Fun treat time though, my beloveds asked me to draw their fursonas as commission practice. I'm still going to do full digital tenders of them either later tonight or tomorrow, but I wanted to sketch out my ideas and reference material first, so you guys get to see some of the planning and background stuff that goes into my drawings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off, is my male partner, David's, brown bear fursona by the same name. That was a special treat for me to do bcuz he actually isn't a part of the furry community- I got to draw his first fur! (Fun fact: I've always privately thought of him as a bear anyway, so when he told me he wanted a grizzly I couldn't help but giggle to myself)
The second furry, a gnc fem. presenting fennec fox by the name of Calia, belongs to my nonbinary beloved, Danni. They've had this fursona for years now, much longer than I've known them, but this is only my second time drawing Calia for them. Getting the shape of the fox's head down was a little tricky at first because fox skulls have a diamond base shape - not a circle/oval like most animals- but I think she/they came out pretty alright, and I'm looking forward to digitizing them both into fully realized characters.

Partners' Fursona Follow-ups
Tumblr media
Okay everyone, definitely a late night again tonight, but I did finish my partner David's fursona.
Some of you may have noticed that it doesn't quite match up with the original sketch-for one thing, this yogi bear has no clothes- but that is a perfectly normal part of the process. I typically use my sketchbook drawing as more of a loose guide than a base drawing for the full pieces unless I *really* like the way that I did some part or another in pencil and want to trace it for the same effect as on paper. Also, after taking with David some more what he wanted became a bit more clear, so I adjusted accordingly.
One thing that I honestly loved about this, aside from getting to design/draw my partner's first fur for him, was the color palette. Being a neutral toned grizzly bear, I got to play with a lot of warm browns, ambers, and honey tints that I don't normally use much of, and which I think just fit perfectly with his personality.
Overall, it took a fair couple hours of work (in no small part because of software issues setting me back a couple times in the process) but I enjoyed making this bear to match my very own lovable one at home, and I look forward to working on Danni's tomorrow.

Aaaaaah, I can't wait to get back into digital art- my drawing tablet got lost in a move and I'm getting a new one just later this week. Oh, there are so many things I want to draw and new tech and designs that I wanna try out. I'm dying to start drawing again so I pulled out an old sketchbook and decided to practice my favorite bit to furry anatomy, Tails!
With the exception of the shark's tail in the upper left, every tail is based on an irl animal species or breed. Can anyone guess what's what?

Welcome Back, my darlings, and thank you for being patient.
As y’all know, I just got a new drawing tablet which I’ve been happily working on almost nonstop since I got it home yesterday, and I am excited to show you guys exactly what all I’ve done!
So first up on the list of things I drew/digitized is the studio’s logo! I talked about the logo a little bit when I gave everyone a view of the design on paper; I wanted to keep it simple, cute, and easy to recognize at a glance. While my favorite animal (and main fursona for that matter) is a snow leopard, I really wanted to do a cute pair of dog ears and a fox tail, since dogs and foxes tend to be the two species of animals that I most often see as fursonas- particularly with new furries. Additionally, since music is a huge love and inspiration of mine, I wanted to make the “face” of the logo and the studio’ S into a multi-ringed circle so that it looked like a spinning record.
Well, what do you all think? Did I hit it spot on, did I entirely miss my mark, or did you maybe see something else entirely? Be sure to let me know, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Goooood morning, my lovelies!
Great news: I finally got my new drawing pad last night! A brand new Wacom One 13 is sitting huge and sitting pretty on my desk, and I've been busy fiddling with it all night. Ignoring some minor frustration during set up (turns out the power cord only works when plugged in in one specific direction), everything works great so far, and I am so relieved to finally be back in the saddle with a pen in hand.
For anyone curious, the sketch lines belong a new OC of mine, the sporty and foxy miss Roxy (prefers Rox)-but don't let her hear you call her that! This rough and tumble vixen prefers to spend her days on a court or on a track, letting the sun warm her back as she plays and works out.
Tumblr media
Stay tuned friends, by the end of the day y'all will have Rox's finished picture, and a new protogen pal to boot!

Alrighty everybody, now that intros and rules are done, I'd like to officially welcome everyone with Leopard Song Studios' first official logo.
Tumblr media
This sweet little thing is the about the seventh draft of the logo in pencil and the first to be finalized on paper. (Fun fact! If you look closely at the top and bottom curves of the larger S, you can actually see a couple different spots where I changed my mind and erased some of the earlier design fragments.)
The Logo is the first thing to grace a beautiful new sketchbook for LSS that's sure to soon be positively overflowing with designs and sketches.
Make sure to keep an eye out, as a digital version of the finalized logo, cleaned up of course, will be coming your way soon-hopefully by the end if the week!

Cowboy or Cowdog?
Welp, the world has spoken, it is time to draw my dog as a furry.
What kicked this off was just a couple of cute photos of my Great Pyrenees, Charlie, earlier today while he was playing around being a bouncy floof. Being the pretty boy that he is whenever he's not fully feeling out on us, and bring a herding/livestock guardian dog by nature, my wife and I began to wonder what he'd look like as a furry. When I remembered his love of bandanas (the dog actually genuinely likes dressing up), I was immediately reminded of the old wild west movies that my grandad loved showing me as a little girl, with all the beautiful horses and sunsets, the cool sheriffs and dorky town deputies, and of course the regular bands of banditos and the ever stressful high-noon shootouts.... So of course, I had to turn my giant, fluufy, lovable, scaredycat of a dog into a cowboy. (Here is bestboi for ref)
Tumblr media
First thing I did to prep for a digital drawing was to make a thumbnail sketch of Charlie as a normal dog, only to realize that this concept only fit him entirely too well-as all it took to turn him from feral to furry was the addition of a stetson hat and the top of a button down shirt. With that revelation firmly in place, my job just got a lot easier, and I decided to try out two more poses with him:one relaxed, sitting on a porch rocking chair overlooking his town; and the other, vicious and angry spirited at some dangerous stranger poking around where they shouldn't.
While I probably won't have the finished product for y'all got a couple days because I'm genuinely excited to draw this and will like spend entirely too long on it, please enjoy the concept art in the meantime, and follow me at LeopardSongStudio on Instagram for progress updates.
