"Come out, come out wherever you are, Charlie!" (Y/N) called as she wandered the halls of Arrow House, looking for the small boy whom she was a nanny to. They were currently playing hide-and-seek, and it was the four year old's turn to hide.
She went from room to room, giving each only a quick glance because her opponent was only four after all...he wasn't going to be hiding in any advanced places. She continued on, checking each of the rooms on the first floor (because that's where their playing field was) until she got to the only hallway left. This one held a more formal sitting room, and her employer, Thomas Shelby's, office. She had hoped that Charlie wouldn't have gone down this hall because she knew that her boss was particular about the people he let into his personal office. But with all of the other rooms and hallways checked, she was quickly running out of options.
She checked in the sitting room and found it empty, which left her with one final choice of where to look. The door was also cracked, so there was a good chance that he was hiding in there. Out of all of the rooms in the house...you just want me to get into trouble, don't you? she thought to herself as she approached the door. "Charlie?!" she called out while slowly opening the door, treating it like there was tripwire on the other side and it would set off if she moved too quickly.
Giggles sounded out the second she stepped into the room. They were, of course, coming from the far corner, where the floor-to-ceiling windows were. She took a moment to take in her surroundings. This clearly wasn't one of the rooms she'd been in very much, so it all seemed foreign to her.
Something that jumped out right away was the expansive book collection that lined the walls of the room. Not a single shelf seemed to be empty, and all of the books were organized into neat rows; their spines just begging for her to run her fingers across. She would have thought that she'd died and gone to heaven if she didn't know any better. But she did...and right now she needed to find the child she'd been searching for and get out before it became a personal hell.
"Where are you, Charlie?" she called out as she walked even further into the room. She wanted to smile at his adorable giggles, but the worry of getting caught, and reprimanded kept her strict to her mission of ‘find the kid and get out’.
"You can't see me, Miss (Y/N)," he said in between his giggles, which she now realized were coming from behind the curtains.
"I think I'm getting closer," she told him, only a few steps from his hiding spot now, "hmm...why could there be shoes coming out from under the curtains?" she wondered aloud as she reached out to take hold of the curtains. The giggles quieted down as the child prepared to be found. "There you are!" (Y/N) exclaimed as she pulled the curtain slightly to the side, coming face to face with the beaming boy.
"You found me!" Charlie exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air.
"You had a good hiding spot," (Y/N) told him, a smile on her face, "although you should know better than to hide in your father's office," she added, her voice holding a more stern tone.
"It's your turn!" he cheered, unphased by her statement.
The sound of the front door closing rang out through the halls before anything else could be said. (Y/N) stiffened in her spot, knowing that that sound could only mean one thing...
"Daddy!" Charlie yelled as loud as he could before he took off running out of the room.
(Y/N) was still frozen. She wanted to run like hell out of the room and try to make it seem as though she wasn't just in a room that was supposed to be off-limits, but instead her feet stayed glued to the hardwood. The voice of Tommy Shelby came clearly from the foyer, greeting his son and asking him what he'd been doing while he was away.
Hearing him speak made her kick into gear, and she was able to walk the length of the room and reach the door just as she heard footsteps starting to come her way.
"I was playing hide-and-seek with Miss (Y/N)!" Charlie excitedly told his father as he led him down the hall he'd left his nanny in, "and I had a really good spot."
"Did you?" Tommy asked, intrigue present in his voice as he wondered where his son was taking him. When he looked up, he noticed (Y/N) in the process of shutting the door to his office. His eyebrows furrowed at this, trying to remember if he'd locked the door or not when he was leaving this morning.
His office was the one room in the house that he didn't want Charlie roaming about freely in. There were too many bad things held in there for a child to be going through it unattended.
"Where was this hiding spot, eh?" Tommy asked his son when they stopped a few steps away from where (Y/N) was standing.
"I hid behind the curtains!" the boy wasted no time in exclaiming, not seeing any problem in where he'd chosen to hide. (Y/N), on the other hand, felt like she was about to faint as she waited on baited breath for Tommy's reaction to Charlie's answer.
Instead of quickly deciding (Y/N)'s fate, Tommy did one of the things he does best: look to each of the people standing in front of him as he dragged his statement out until it felt like (Y/N) was going to explode from the tension.
"He was...we were in your office, Mr. Shelby, I'm so sorry," she admitted, the words rushing out of her mouth before she had much time to process them. She hoped they made sense.
Tommy stayed quiet for a few more moments after she spoke, blinking a few times as he thought her words over. He couldn't help but feel a tinge of anger as he thought of the rule that had been broken. Of all people, (Y/N) should have known that Charlie wasn't allowed in his office unattended.
"I've already told him that he shouldn't be going into your personal rooms, but he..."
"Stop," his voice finally broke through her second round of explanations. She closed her mouth as soon as she heard him, holding her breath as she hoped that she'd still have a job after this conversation was over. "There's no need to explain yourself any further," he told her, his voice flat, giving her no indication of what he was thinking.
(Y/N) continued to hold her breath as she watched Tommy turn to look at Charlie. "You should know better than to go into my office when I'm not home, Charles. Next time you listen to what (Y/N) is telling you, alright?" he asked with raised eyebrows, his voice stern.
"Yes, sir," Charlie answered like he knew he was supposed to, nodding his head once.
"Good lad. Go on now...go play in your room," Tommy instructed him once he deemed the boy to have understood the message he was trying to get across.
Charlie turned to (Y/N) before going anywhere. (Y/N) immediately knew that he was waiting for her to join him, but a quick glance at Tommy to see his eyes trained on her made her realize that maybe she should stick around for a few moments longer. "I'll be up shortly, Charlie," she told the boy, who nodded before running past his father to go to his room.
(Y/N) swallowed thickly as she focused on Tommy again, waiting to see if he'd be the first to say something. The anticipation was, once again, killing her.
"He didn't touch anything, did he?" Tommy finally asked; his question being one of the last that (Y/N) expected to come out of his mouth.
"No, Mr. Shelby. Everything was in its rightful place when I entered the room," she assured him.
"Good," he nodded, happy with her answer. "You're able to go with him," he said to her then, stepping out of the way so that she'd have room to pass him.
"That's all?" she asked, the words coming out before she could stop them.
Tommy's brows furrowed in confusion upon hearing her statement. "What do you mean?"
"You're not angry at me? I'm not in trouble for entering your office?" she rattled off some of the questions that were circling through her brain.
"I'm not, no," he shook his head, "let's not make a habit of it though, eh?"
"Of course, Mr. Shelby," she nodded, still surprised by how the situation had gone. She was still expecting him to blow his lid on her...it wouldn't be the first time he'd done it to one of his employees. She wasn't about to give him a reason to do so though. "Thank you," she said then, ducking her head before she walked past him so that she could go and be with Charlie again.
Tommy took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly as he moved to open his office door. He knew for certain that he would have just had a completely different conversation if (Y/N) hadn't been the one who was closing the door. He'd felt something different towards her from the moment she was hired on as Charlie's live-in nanny a little over a year ago. His son adored her, and he was happy that Charlie would grow up with someone who genuinely cared for him, and who would be able to be with him when his father was away. (Y/N) provided a much needed sense of security for a boy who'd been through so much in his short life so far.
(Y/N) brought something into the house that had been missing. Tommy often wondered if he'd grown a soft spot for her because of how she was with Charlie, or if there was maybe a little more behind the reason.
He sunk into his office chair with a sigh, looking at the picture of his late wife and son as they stared back at him. If only it had been that easy, he thought to himself before grabbing the cigarette tin so that he could take one out and roll it along his lips, but things happen for a reason, right?.
——
(Y/N) knocked on the door to her employer's office, waiting to hear if he was in before entering. His muffled voice calling for her to 'come' came through the mahogany moments later, making her turn the knob and open the door. "Good afternoon, Mr. Shelby," she greeted him as she found him sitting behind his desk.
"Hello, Miss (Y/L/N)," he returned the greeting, "is there something I can do for you?"
"I have Charlie's quarterly report. I figured you'd want it as soon as I was finished with it," she told him, holding the papers up into view.
Tommy nodded at her words. "Let's have a look then," he said, beckoning her over to his desk with a wave of his hand. (Y/N) nodded and walked across the room, stopping in front of his desk so that she could hand him the papers. He sat his glasses on the bridge of his nose before he began looking through them, reading the detailed report of how his son was progressing. "You think he'll be ready to start schooling?" he asked her after a few, quiet moments had passed, glancing up at her.
"I think so, sir. He's a very bright boy," she answered with a nod and a slight smile.
"And everything else seems to be in order...as far as developments go?" he asked another question.
"Yes," she nodded again, "there's even some things he's excelling at," she added, a proud smile forming on her face. Even though she knew she shouldn't, she'd come to love Charlie like he was her own. Spending nearly every day with him had created such a beautiful relationship between the two. She wouldn't know what she'd do without him.
"That's good to hear," Tommy nodded, continuing to look through the papers.
"He should be ready to start school in the fall," she shared the information that had been weighing on her mind, her smile faltering slightly, "and I'll promptly begin work on finding another placement for myself. I'll place adds in the papers, I'll..."
"No," Tommy cut her off abruptly with a wave of his hand and a shake of his head, "I want you to stay here with Charlie."
"He won't need me anymore, Mr. Shelby," she told him, a bit surprised by his interjection.
"Yes he will," he nodded, his eyes locked onto hers, "he's quite fond of you, (Y/N), and I don't want to separate that." We're all quite fond of you, he thought to himself as he studied her face. "I'll continue to pay you, and you'll continue to live here."
"You're serious?" (Y/N) checked, a slight gasp leaving her lips as a smile played on them.
"I am," he nodded again, clasping his hands together as he rested his elbows on the desk.
"That's so very kind of you...I will tell Charlie of this as soon as he is back from his riding lesson. He will be so thrilled. Thank you, Mr. Shelby," she expressed her gratitude, allowing the smile to take over her features.
"Thank you, Miss (Y/L/N)," he returned the sentiment, "you're free to go," he said then, signaling the end of the conversation.
(Y/N) nodded and turned to exit the room. She walked a few steps before stopping, the shelves of books catching her eye again. She folded her hands together in front of her skirt as she glanced around the room.
"Is there something else you need?" Tommy's voice broke the silence in the room, making her snap from her trance to turn and face him again.
"No, Mr. Shelby, I..." she trailed off, feeling slightly bashful for being caught admiring the books, "I'm just amazed by the amount of books that you have in here," she decided to tell him why she'd stuck around, a soft smile forming on her face after the admission.
"You read?" he asked her, his eyebrows raised in intrigue.
"I do," she nodded, "I'm slowly running out of material though, and the workers' library that you've so graciously given us only has so many books, so to see these books in here made me..." she trailed off as she realized she was sharing too much information, her face heating up as she looked down at the ground.
Tommy let the silence hang in the air for a few moments as he thought about what she'd said. "Would you want to read in here?" he asked her then, his question making her eyes shoot up to his.
"You'd let me?" she asked, her words coming out in a surprised gasp.
"Yeah," he nodded, his simple response making excitement bubble up inside of (Y/N).
"I'd really like that, thank you, Mr. Shelby," she said to him, expressing her gratitude once more. She swore that she saw the ghost of a smile flash across his lips as he nodded his head again. "I'm going to go be with Charlie now, sir...he should be returning from his lesson any moment." Tommy nodded again at her words, and she finally exited the room, her excitement boiling over as a giddy smile spread across her face. There was nothing she loved more than books.
——
It became a routine for (Y/N) to go into Tommy's study so that she could read every day after that. Tommy would be in the room sometimes, working on whatever it was that he needed to get done. She quickly came to love the peaceful silence that filled the room as they cohabitated in it. Being with him felt comfortable to her...almost as comfortable as it felt when she was spending time with Charlie.
"Do you have a favorite book?" Tommy asked out of the blue one day, his words making (Y/N) look up from the page she was reading.
"I do, yes," she responded, a smile quickly forming on her face at the thought of discussing something she liked, "it's called Walden and it's by an American author named Henry David Thoreau. He writes about being alone and immersed in the wilderness in it...it's always such a mind clearing read," she informed him of her favorite book and explained why it held that title.
"Do I have it?" he asked her, his brows furrowed in curiosity.
"I've not found it on the shelves...it's been a while since I've read it, actually," she answered, remembering clearly one of her first days spent in the room. She was rather bummed when she came up empty in her search.
"Noted," he nodded, picking up his pen and focusing his attention back on the paper in front of him. (Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows at the conversation she'd just had, confused as to why he'd just asked her that out of nowhere. Silence persisted in the room again, so she went back to reading.
——
"You're late today," Tommy commented as he watched (Y/N) enter the room.
"Charles wouldn't settle," she answered him, a slight smile on her face as she tried to push her feelings of nervousness down. She knew it wasn't the case, but she couldn't help but feel like a child who had just been called into the headmaster's office.
"Is he fine now?" he asked her, watching as she skimmed the shelves, looking for the book she'd indulge in that evening.
"He is...he had a burst of energy before bed," she answered, her eyes still focused on the books. Nothing was jumping out at her. She'd just finished a book and was now in that weird in between where she couldn't get interested in something else.
After searching for a few more minutes, (Y/N) gave up with a sigh. She moved over to the couch and sat down, resting her head back against the cushion. "All these books and yet there's nothing to read," she mumbled to herself, staring at the fire.
"Something wrong?" Tommy questioned as he watched her carefully.
"I've got nothing to read," she answered, fully aware of how dramatic she sounded, but yet not caring.
Tommy chuckled at her statement before he stood from his chair. (Y/N) turned her head and watched him as he opened one of the desk's drawers and took something from it before he made his way over to where she was sitting. Her brows furrowed together when she noticed that what he had in his hand looked like a book. Without a word, he sat down next to her and extended his arm with the book in her direction.
"What's this?" she questioned, accepting the book from his hand.
"It came in yesterday...I figured you might want to read it," he answered, giving no explicit clues to her.
(Y/N) sent him a look of confusion, to which he responded with a slight nod, silently telling her to open the book. She listened, and she just about gasped when she opened the cover and read the title page. "You found me Walden?" she asked him, surprise was present in her features when she looked up at him once more.
"I did," he nodded, the corner of his lips tugging upwards as he noticed how happy this gesture had made her.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Shelby!" she couldn't hold her excitement back, a wide smile breaking onto her face as she clutched the book close to her.
"You're welcome, (Y/N)," he said, happy that he'd made her happy. "You can call me Tommy when we're in here...you're not working," he told her then and she nodded, feeling the butterflies react to the advancement.
She eagerly opened the book then, more than ready to dive into Thoreau's words and experience his adventures again. Tommy stayed sitting on the couch, fishing the tin of cigarettes out of his pocket so that he could stick one between his lips and strike it with a lighter. He rested his head back against the couch and watched (Y/N) as she quickly became immersed in the world her book's pages held. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt as content as he did now; the last time he rather sit and do nothing instead of continuing on with his work.
"Do you have a favorite story?" (Y/N)'s question broke him from his thoughts, and when he glanced in her direction, he saw that she'd lowered her book and was looking at him.
"My favorite story?" he replied with a question. (Y/N) nodded. Tommy paused for a moment, looking at the fire as he thought it over. He then chuckled slightly before responding, "perhaps it's one that hasn't been written yet."
(Y/N) couldn't believe his reply. She bit on her lip to try and contain the smile that was threatening to form the second after she heard it as Tommy watched her intently for her reaction to his words.
"That sounded a bit soppy, didn't it?" he questioned her after a few moments had passed, taking one last drag from his cigarette before he stamped it out in the ashtray on the coffee table.
"Not at all," she answered, biting on the knuckle of her index finger to stifle the giggles that were threatening to escape as she spoke.
Tommy looked at her once he was sitting properly again, admiring her face as she did the same with him. Nothing was said as he then reached over and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. (Y/N) froze slightly at the action, her eyes locked onto his as he gently ran the back of his hand down the line from her cheek to her jaw. His touch made her skin feel like it had been set alight.
"I'm sorry my hair isn't properly done up," she apologized, her voice much softer now.
"Don't apologize," he brushed her off, his voice's tone matching hers. He kept his hand resting on her jaw, gently stroking her cheek with his thumb as he savored the feeling of her soft skin.
(Y/N) hoped she looked calm on the outside, because all of her systems were firing in her brain. She'd be lying if she said that she didn't want something like this to occur between her and Tommy. Her feelings for him seemed to grow with each hour she spent in his study; reading books while he worked. In a way she felt like she had already been with him; like they were a couple who had already settled into a peaceful married life and liked to come together in the evenings and just spent time in the other's presence. She had to keep reminding herself that she was only Charlie's nanny.
But with the way he was acting, she may not only be that for long...
"Would you come to dinner with me?" he asked her after some time had passed.
"You'd want me to?" she shyly asked him, her eyes slightly widening at his offer.
"I would," he nodded, "maybe then I could tell you a bit more about an idea for my favorite story."
"I'd like that," (Y/N) nodded, a smile forming on her face as her butterflies went swarming again, "I'd like to hear more about your favorite story."
Little did she know that his favorite story was the one they were about to write.

happy (late) halloween omg ace! i am so glad to see we are all in shambles over the halloween show i swear matty chose violence (quite literally) with the patrick bateman costume like..... will instantly be imprisoned if I voiced my thoughts about those photos bye-
also the halloween blurb???????? mainly just sending this to scream ab how it literally killed me bye this is so stupid but it instantly made me so happy to read after work and oh i am weepy and weak at the idea of annie masterminding a group costume 😭 even the simplest or ur writings i absolutely adore (still not over the massive list of pre reader dad matty blurbs oh that made my DAY i tell u...)
can we just.... the idea of annie begging u to join them trick or treating,,,, and reader meeting mayhem and mayhem holding the candy bucket in his mouth while annie shows u how well she can walk the 'massive horse dog' 😭😭 and the way u just fit in their unit together so well... oh matty absolutely can feel his heart bursting at the sight gn (and also u getting mistaken for being annies mom/his wife multiple times and the way he just cannot handle how oddly right it feels.... bye!)
(bff anon hopes ur doing better ace! just know basically anything u post..... ive basically read bye need to stop lurking like an insane person 💀 xx)
HAPPY VERY LATE HALLOWEEN!!! It is my fault this is so late, I just couldn't stop talking… are we shocked tho? Jail is calling my name with some of the things I said in dms… let alone my thoughts FUCKING HELL. it was too good-
Stop I'm so glad you liked it, I just love them on Halloween so much. The fact that it made you happy after work actually just added 20 years to my life I'm so glad!!!! I made your day?!?!? Please I'm gonna vomit. You are so sweet and kind. Those ideas were all so fucking good, a google doc has been created bc I loved them so much. You are a genius truly.
Literally, this idea has been living in my mind rent-free in my mind ever since you sent it. MAYHEM HOLDING THE BUCKET YOU'RE KIDDING. Any mayhem content and I am obsessed (hence the mayhem reference in the actual fic), but this image has me sobbing.
(lots more insanity below the cut)
I am gonna alter what you said so slightly bc teacher girlie is PROFESSIONAL and she has work/life boundaries… sometimes… let's say Annie does BEG you to come trick or treating with them and you have to break it to her that you definitely cannot do that but you hope she has the best time ever. “But miss y/n I want you to meet my doggy, he's coming with us. He's gonna be scooby doo! My daddy is shaggy, and I’m Daphne. He's trying to get my uncle George to be Fred, but he wants to have a party with my auntie Charli. They are gonna be-” You have to cut in before Annie gives you a detailed list of everyone she knows costumes (but also, isn't the Scooby gang iconic for them all?!).
You, of course, have a pumpkin out and are waiting for trick-or-treaters and have the full-size chocolate bars because you always wanted to be that house. A knock at your door happens, and you come running to it in your Wizard of Oz costume. Who is behind that door but the whole Healy family? Matty just makes a noise of shock that he later over-thinks massively, “but Ross, it was such a weird noise. I basically choke-coughed at her. No stop laughing-” Ross eventually assures Matty you didn't notice.
You did and later tease him about it when you finally get together, “I swear I had to actually bite the inside of my cheek to not laugh, it was so ridiculous” and Matty is like “Can you blame me?? You were in that cute little dress, and you had those plaits with the bows on the end. You were asking me to choke on thin air when you dress like that, sweetheart.” And you're like… “well I think I still have that costume in my wardrobe upstairs if you'd be interested in-”. Immediately, his face lights up, “WHICH ONE? THE BIG WARDROBE OR THE SMALL ONE?” he shouts whilst dragging you up the stairs as you giggle uncontrollably.
Anyway, sorry I got distracted, HALLOWEEN! They're reasonably late in the night, and somehow Matty gatherers himself enough to talk to you, “ohmygod hi!” he says and awkwardly waves, another moment he thinks about far too often (“Why couldn't I do anything normal around you.” and you reassure him “dont worry, babe. it was cute, I swear”)
Annie perks up and shows you mayhem who just adores you, wagging his tail and you bend down to his level and he's licking all over your face and you just can't stop laughing, matty is mortified. “Oh god y/n I’m so sorry he isn't normally this friendly, very weird actually… but please just- oh mayhem please can you stop-” and he's tugging at the lead trying not to die of embarrassment.
You insist it is fine, and Annie begs you to walk him “Just for a little bit miss y/n! Because then you can see how strong he is and then how strong I am because I walk him all by myself” This comment has you looking at Matty behind her who just shakes his head, confirming that this, in fact, is not true and just another Annie exaggeration.
You agree, grab your bag and come to walk with them for a bit, only after confirming with Matty about 30 times that it's really okay, “are you sure I do not want to intrude” you ask and Matty just dies at your kind eyes looking up at him whilst cuddling mayhem.
“Of course! I'm sure Dorothy would be good friends with the Scooby gang. Please, walk with us” and he offers his hand to pull you up. It's the first time you've really touched, and god, the spark flying thing may seem like a fairytale, but you both swear in that moment that you actually get a shock from the touch. Of course, his hand lingers a little longer than necessary as you stare at each other just vaguely holding hands. Your brain catches up, and you start moving, but god, you wish that moment could've dragged on forever, as does Matty.
As soon as you and Matty get properly talking, you end up walking with them for a longgg time. One house in particular though makes a mistake that lives on in infamy in your relationship in the future.
“oh god, that one house that thought we were together, that moment was on replay in my head for weeks after. The idea that someone else could see us together just confirmed to me I was head over heels for you, and then sadly solidified that it couldn't happen after you corrected her and I was sharply reminded you were my daughter's teacher”
Maybe it's an older woman who opens the door and jumps at mayhem originally but is soon cooing over him and giving him milk bones, “What a pretty boy” and Annie is giggling and telling the woman all about her “horse dog” (nice reference btw bff anon I love u).
Soon, she looks up and actually addresses you and Matty, “Sorry! You must be mum and dad. What a lovely little girl you've raised, and what a beautiful couple you are! Reminds me of me and my husband, constantly talking and laughing” You and matty just stand there open-mouthed like fish for a good few seconds. Annie is, of course, laughing hysterically. You both stutter out explanations, “Oh no-” “Oh I'm actually her teacher. It's a funny story so they knocked and i was like-” Of course, the woman apologised profusely, but the comment haunts you and Matty for WEEKS.
Perhaps a few more people coo at your “lovely family” and perhaps you just… stop correcting them…
Cut to Matty talking to himself (and mayhem) at 3 a.m. in the kitchen whilst making tea, “No it's totally normal people thought that. Man + woman + child + dog = family. and so what we stopped correcting them?? That's normal too… We just got sick of it. And it's also fine that it made me feel weird. It was a weird situation. Anyone would get butterflies at someone saying they're a nice couple. Right, mayhem?” and Mayhem somehow gives him a look that says “Really?” and Matty sighs and nods.
I think this might be the moment he goes “fuck.” and realises he really does like you. And he just… freaks out. Calls Ross and talks a million miles an hour.
I'M SO SORRY I LITERALLY CANT SHUT UP, WHEN WILL I STOP?!
I am doing much better and I literally cannot believe someone likes my bullshit enough to read my posts, I am genuinely obsessed with you?!?! KEEP LURKING I LOVE IT! I LOVE YOU!!!

*feels something empty in radiostatic community*
I, DomesticStaticradio anon, am here to deliver more lore into Domesticstaticradio au my children.
--------
Do you guys remember the song Until i found you by Stephen Sanchez.
Just imagine before they met in this au, Alastor finds the world all dull, gray, without music, without entertain. People walking around, being busy, where's the fun? The joy?
His mother was the only one who is colorful and bright within the world of gray.
His father eventually made everything red. Everything then falls apart.
Father stop!
Don't hurt her please!
Father please! Please!
He can feel something cold and sharp in his hand and within minutes he is wrapped in a thin blanket, the police shaking their heads.
They say his father ended his own life after he did the deed to his mother.
But...
They didn't see how red his hands were even after he washed them in the tub, he can still see red.
Nothing makes sense...!
The jeers echoing in his brain, how he was a foster child in a dingy orphanage, the taunts of how he is the son of his mother's slayer.
The matron was kind for her time but with limited funds during the era, no upper class would pity a penniless orphan especially the one of color.
He hungers..it is so cold...
What happened to the adults, to ignore a child like him..? He wants to eat, eat eat-- please I need food..!
Something... Tasty enter in his mouth... He doesn't know but he feels.. full...
The more he eats, the more the world is red. Where's the color? Where is it...? His mother use to feed him yet what happened to the color that comes after satisfaction..?
Soon he gets used to the red anyways, people began to disappear in his view, where have they gone..?
Why have they turn into such cute tiny dolls..?
Ah they like his voice..?
Perhaps he can eat, the more he sings-- oh how fun! How they listen to every word he says unlike before than begging does not get him anywhere, how his cries were silence and ignored.
Now they are listening to him.
Yet...
"Where are the people in this world..?"

"Papa?"
3 years old Charlie stares at Alastor. "I'm hungry papa..."
Alastor smiles softly at her as he stirs the jambalaya "Oh mon ange, sorry." He bends down to pat the toddler "I am a terrible host aren't I? For letting my sweet belle go hungry hmm?"
"I'M HOME!"
Vox enters the dining area "Sorry I'm late, the f-- stupid interns accidentally blew the latest tech." He takes his tie off "Charlie kid!"
Charlie runs to him "Daddy!" Gets lifted up by Vox and she squeals "Papa's making jambalaya!"
Vark just well, barks, on the side as he wags his tail.
Alastor pauses as he stares at the scene.
Why...why the world seems much more colorful than before.
I'm so glad you recommended that song bc I realized I never knew what it was called even though I love it
I listened to it while reading this and I'm crying again I'm feeling so many emotions

Chapter One
Charlie felt groggy as she opened her eyes; She didn't know where she was or how she got here.
She carefully climbed out of the bed that she had been placed in; her legs felt shaky as she walked towards the door. Charlie stepped out of the room as she pulls the door open, the hallways were quiet; too quiet.
She began walking down the hall using the wall to help her keep balance with each step she took. She walked past an empty nurse station; Charlie made her way up a set of stairs, she tried to remember last night but she couldn't. All she knew was she was still dressed in last night's clothes, but she didn't know where her shoes were.
Charlie saw a male and a female walking side by side, she could see they were talking to each other, but she was struggling to make out the words.
"You're not supposed to be here" the woman called out as she noticed Charlie.
"Just going to the bathroom" Charlie pushed the button to the disabled toilet open before going in and locking herself in. She could see their shadows outside the glass door, Charlie kept her hand pressed on the lock button.
She tried not to scream as she began hearing banging on the door; Charlie squashed close to the wall while her hand stayed on the locked button as each bang happened. She looked at the door as she heard a crack on the glass door.
Charlie screamed; screamed as loud as she could, She didn't want to, but she knew she had too. She quickly stopped screaming when the banging stopped, she heard the male and female begging for their life.
"What have I said!?" Charlie heard a male voice; she knew that voice. She needed to remember last night's events.
Charlie tried to figure a way out but knew the only way in or out was the damaged door. She jumped when she heard the glass door shatter to the ground; her eyes widened.
"Oh, Charlie. Sweetie, what have I said about hiding?" He pushed his black wet hair out of his face; water was dripping down his body, Charlie noticed his blue speedos. Her eyes quickly looked up at his face "Come to daddy" He reached his arms out.
Charlie knew there was no way out; she watched her steps as she stepped towards him.
"That'a girl" He wrapped his arms around her waist before lifting her slightly up off the ground, carrying her away from the damaged bathroom. He placed her feet down on the carpet before letting go off her to admire her "I'm back sweetie and this time I promise to keep you safe."
"I don't need you to keep me safe" Charlie spat before turning and running. She ignored the two bloody bodies as she ran down the hall and down the stairs.
He kept his eyes on her; he had her like a cat chasing down a mouse. She got to the bottom of the stairs, rushed over to the elevator, and pressed the down button. Charlie only had mere seconds to think; she saw two vending machines close together, she rushed over before squeezing herself behind one of them. She was surprised to see the gap between the wall and the machine and how she managed to fit herself behind it.
Charlie heard the beep of the elevator; she heard the doors slide open. She carefully peeked from out behind the vending machine seeing him exit the elevator, she carefully watched him as he walked right past her. She felt something dig into the side of her, looking down seeing a door handle before pushing the door handle down, but it wouldn't budge. She tried to think how she would open the door without her kit. Charlie patted her black hair hoping there may be a bobby pin still in there, she scrunched up her face when she couldn't feel one. She looked down at the power socket before thinking again, she quickly shook her head realizing that idea would be a stupid one. Charlie patted the pockets of her shorts and smiled; she squeezed her hand into the back pocket before pulling out a bobby pin.
Charlie managed to open the door using the bobby pin before calmly closing the door behind her; She calmly walked down the hall, pretending she knew what she was doing.
"Excuse me?" Charlie asked the nurse at the nurse station "Where 'bout's would I find the toilets?"
The nurse looked up in annoyance and pointed to the right of her. Charlie's eyes followed the direction the nurse's hand was pointed.
"Thank you" Charlie smiled before heading towards the toilets. She looked up at the sign before peering back behind her; Charlie took a sharp left towards the exit. She knew the elevator would give her away immediately; she carefully pushed open the emergency door before quietly closing it. Charlie raced down the stairs following the signs down.
Level 5 Carparking
Charlie pushed open the door; she took in the fresh air that her body was starting to crave, her eyes scanned around for a car; a car that looked like it wouldn't be missed.
She found a beat-up car that looked like it deserved to be at the wreckers. Charlie kept alert as she pulled open the door. She wasn't surprised that it wasn't locked as she sat down in the driver's seat, she noticed wires hanging down from the bottom of the steering wheel.
It's been stolen already Charlie thought too herself as she leaned down trying to start up the car.
She didn't hear the car door open, nor did she notice the person sitting down in the passenger's seat; she didn't even hear the car door close.
"Try the blue and red one."
Charlie quickly dropped the wires as she looked up "Do you ever put clothes on?" she noticed her father still in his speedos.
"Only when I don't have to chase after you. Very clever by the way. Using the stairs and finding this car" He smiled proudly "I wouldn't have thought of that."
Charlie leaned back in the driver's seat "What gave me away?"
"Nothing" He said as he seemed confused "I knew you were trying to escape. We both knew the obvious would be stupid. I know your clever, Charlie"
Charlie looked out the front window "Why a hospital?"
"It's not only a hospital. It's my hospital." He carefully watched Charlie; he could tell she was planning another escape.
"What about everyone else? Wouldn't they try to come here?" Charlie looked at him.
He shook his head "It's blocked off, it's not registered, and, on the outside, it looks like it's been untouched"
Charlie didn't know what to say to that as she moved her gaze out the driver's side window "I spent ten years hiding from you. No social media, nothing that would make it easy. How did you find me?" She looked back at him.
He smiled like a Cheshire cat "What have I taught you about trust?"
"Trust no one" She looked down at her lap.
"Good thing for your friends"
Charlie couldn't believe she had been betrayed like that. She didn't understand, she never explained who she was nor anything about her parents.
"I'm quite disappointed to hear that I burned in a house fire. Telling lies, Charlotte. What have I said about lies?" He shook his head in disappointment.
Charlie twisted her sweaty hands around each other as her breathing increased.
He could see the way she was reacting "How about I take you inside. We can talk" He tried to calm her nerves.
Charlie looked up at the male; She could see it in his face. Plans running though his mind, he was waiting for her next move.
He watched Charlie as she stepped out of the car before stepping out of the passenger side "Good girl" He waved his hand towards the elevator "we'll take the easy way up." He watched as she began to walk towards the elevator.

do you love her? (jax teller x oc) pt. 3. *Short chapter. *
As much to Everly's mother's dismay, she talked to Jax everyday after that and Jax always sat in his mother's office, soaking up the comfort of her soft voice everyday, always asking her if she knew when she was coming home yet- but she always answered with an "I don't know, Jax."
Everly honestly thought her mother would keep her there forever, till one day she couldn't take it anymore and called her dad crying, begging him to bring her home.
Her father hated the idea of letting her go anyway and quickly jumped to find a way to bring her back home.
She ended up going back a few days later with her mother, aunt and cousins by a train. Soon she was back home and the first thing she wanted to do was see her two favorite people- though her mother reluctant to agree, completely ignoring her requests.
"Mom, why aren't you answering me? I wanna see Jax, NOW!" Everly snapped at her mother.
"NO! That's not why I brought you back here." She snapped back.
"You didn't bring me back, daddy did, and Jackson is the reason I came back and I want to see him. NOW!" I started pulling a fit on on my mom, screaming and crying. "Everly Bo Desmond, stop acting like that right now!" But I didn't listen to her, because it drove me crazy how close I was to my friends and not being able to go and see them.
My dad suddenly walked in to me and my mom screaming at each other.
"What the fuck's going on here, Ellen?" He yelled at us. I ran up to hug him.
"Daddy, I want to see Jax, but she's not letting me see him." I cried into his stomach, he sighed deeply.
"Grab your coat, come on. I'll take you." He said regrettably.
My mother and father began to argue, while I quickly grabbed my coat and threw my shoes on.
"What are you doing, Charlie? You're just gonna let her get sucked into that life? We know exactly where that boy is headed!" My mother yelled at him, my father shoved me out the door.
"I didn't have a choice, Ellen. They brought her home to me and only asked for one thing in return." He explained,
"They asked for her hand! They want her and Jax to be married when they're old enough! Is that really what we want for our daughter?" She pleaded with him.
"You did this- not me!" My father snapped at my mother. "They never would've met if it wasn't for your friendship with Gemma. Now whether, we like it or not, she got close to them and there's nothing that we can do to stop it from happening, otherwise she'll grow up to hate us."
My mother sighed in defeat, knowing he was right. It was too late, Everly already thought of the club as family and will soon be the only life she knows.
Hello, my lovely readers! I know there is only a few of ya- but I'm grateful, none the less.
I have a question I need to ask for my fellow readers.. I have an eventual problem that may occur, because I'll either procrastinate and/or lose interest, or get stuck and quit all together.
But I have big plans for this, and I want to turn it into a series, and I already have an idea for a part 2 of this, so if any of ya are interested in helping me write this, I'll share with ya my future plans with this.
Thank you, my lovelies. 😘
Btw, it already have another chapter written up, but I'll post it tomorrow!

Dear John.
Tumblr media
The pair made their way out into the bustle of the club, sitting themselves down at a sofa a little away from the bar and VIP room.
The club was almost full tonight, Charlie seemed rushed off his feet and Magnolia was basking in the eyes of the patons fixated on her.
Maya had excused herself to the bathroom while the buzz wore off. As if waking from a dream, she was feeling more alert and painfully embarrassed at all she had revealed. She’d told him things she hadn’t told anyone, some she was even scared to admit to herself.
She must have been gone a while...
When she returned, the crowd rose to the floor, a signal that Mags had finished her break, ready to enchant the audience with her spell once more.
Maya sat back down, arms across her chest and noticeably colder since her departure. In an attempt to seem normal, she poked her tongue out at the ghoul opposite her.
Hancock didn’t buy it but he didn’t want to push the boundaries. He stuck to what he knew best.
“So, you got a ride of choice? I’m usually a Mentats Ghoul myself. Makes me feel intellectual.” He pulled a container out of his coat pocket and offered it to Maya, she took two of the small tablets and knocked them back with her drink.
“Heh. Not shy are ya? Two a day keeps reality at bay.”
“I don’t tend to ‘ride’ much for fun these days. Don’t know what half the shit is anymore,” She said as she dragged her fingers through her hair, “I usually only use chems for dealing with enemies now. I mean I still can’t kill someone unless I’ve had a hit of Psycho. Sound’s pathetic doesn’t it?” A sardonic laugh and she broke eye contact. “I guess tonight is my first real joy ride for the last couple of hundred years. I have you to thank for that.”
“My pleasure, sister. You can always come to me whenever you need a little chem break.” He winked and began searching his coat. When he found what he was looking for, he locked her gaze once more. That inviting smile formed into a hard line for the briefest of moments. “And to answer your question, no, it ain’t pathetic to need an extra push to kill. It means you aren’t the same as the scum you gotta take care of.” A pause. “Gotta ask though, what happens when the psycho runs out?”
“I don’t let it run out.” She answered simply. But she knew what he meant. She’d face that bridge when she came to it.
Hancock chuckled with a shake of his head. “Fair enough. Good answer.”
Without a word of warning, he slipped off the sofa and knelt down in front of her, presenting her with a syringe that had two vials of orange liquid attached to it. Maya eagerly edged closer to him, leaning forward out of curiosity.
“Since this is your first real ride in Goodneighbor, let’s make it one to remember. Those Mentats started to kick in yet?”
Maya nodded, her pupils had started to dilate and she felt a spike in her intellect. Everything was suddenly so defined, the heightened perception made her aware of the intricate details in her surroundings.
”Good. Now this little gem is called Daddy-O. You take this whole thing and we ain’t gonna be on the same planet. But...You take a small hit of it with those Mentats and you’re gonna have one hell of a night." The needle caught the light. "You trust me, doll?”
Maya nodded once more.
Because she did... So much did she trust this man who she barely knew.
Her heart began to race, she was hungry for it.
Hancock flicked the tip of the needle as she slouched back into her seat. Delicately, he snuck his rugged hand under her leg and lifted. Goosebumps erupted on her skin at the caress, butterflies forming in the pit of her stomach with the anticipation.
He stroked his thumb on the inside of her thigh and stretched the skin. Maya let out a sharp gasp as the needle penetrated, the rush was instant as the foreign chem coursed through her system.
The ghoul’s hand lingered on her sensitive skin as he retracted the syringe, only a small portion was missing from the vials. He replaced the needle before injecting a larger dose into his ruined forearm.
Tumblr media
The subtle hues of the room swiftly became more saturated. Ripples lingered in the wake of where the light had moved and the smoke seemed to solidify. Whisps dancing to the music and hugging the customers it engulfed.
Hancock guided her away from the growing crowd of the bar and back to the VIP lounge, the patrons swarming as the night grew later and privacy was becoming an issue.
They were in the doorway when Hancock took her by the hand and pulled her towards him. Maya staggered off balance and he used the opening to expertly hooked his arm around her waist, forcing their bodies to connect as he pulled her close.
Within moments they were swaying, synchronized and moving perfectly in rhythm with Magnolia’s song.
.
'You leave me breathless, weak in the knees...I'm feeling reckless, pardon me please...The fallout’s blowing through...But baby, it’s just you…🎵'
Hancock mouthed the lyrics with a smirk, tracing circles on her lower back as they danced. His obsidian gaze almost predatory as it locked on her lips and then refocused on her eyes.
It had been too long since she felt this magnetic pull, her head swimming with the undeniable attraction she felt for him. She tried to tell herself it was down to the circumstances and intoxication but it was without sincerity. A fool to try and lie to herself when she knew he reality.
'Help me, help me, rescue my heart...Save me, save me, from falling apart…🎵'
Maya draped both her arms around his ruined neck. The ghoul was so much taller than her petite frame that she hung on him. Surprised by his height when he was this close. His usual relaxed demeanour and slender body making him seem smaller from a distance.
Tumblr media
The more her honed eyes focused on his face, the more she was fascinated by the ridged contours of his skin. Delicate fingers teased his nape, provoking an involuntary growl that rumbled in his chest.
The chemistry drove their bodies closer. Hancock's now free hand grazed her arm and found her waist, skillfully maneuvering his leg in between hers and propping her up against the wall behind them. The hand on her hip snaked up her torso and guided her arm above her head - Holding it there as a quiet moan escaped her lips.
Maya's body was entranced by his magnetism, every sensation heightened due to the cocktail of chems and alcohol.
Coherent thought had all but vanished, replaced with a throbbing primal ache that was begging the ghoul not to stop.
'Take me, take me, baby I’m sure...🎵'
Instinct did most of the guidance. With the weight of his strong but slender body pinning her to the wall, her frame conformed to him, seeking to breach any space between them.
Hancock's scarred lips were barely an inch from touching hers, both of them were breathing heavily, the anticipation unbearable as the inevitable came closer.
Even in the ecstasy of the moment, she felt strange. Aware she was being reckless, making a fool of herself.
She hadn’t let herself go like this since before Nate.
Always responsible. Always solving the problem. Always positive.
Lady Luck, right? It would all work out.
Until now...Until she woke up.
For the last decade her baby had been raised by the people who murdered his father and she didn’t know if she'd ever find a way inside their impenetrable base.
No one else ever had and they had more power than she could ever hope to weild.
This time there were no silver linings, nothing to do but to fuck it all and escape, even if it was just for one night and in the arms of some man who made her feel good.
Her previous life and her husband were gone and slowly becoming a memory. Didn’t she deserve some pleasure after the weeks of suffering, just wishing for it all to end?
For one fucking night, didn’t she deserve to feel something other than heartache?
.
'You've got the power. You've got the cure...🎵'
.
Maya tilted her head forward just enough to gently graze her lips against his before pulling away, testing his reaction as she tasted the smoke that lingered there...
Tumblr media
That was all the encouragement he needed to take control. Hancock captured her in a fervent embrace.
Several moments of his expert mouth exploring her own and he broke the lifeline, nudging her face to the side so he could pepper expert kisses along her jaw and neck.
Devouring her as her skin erupted in goosebumps from the contact of his breath.
“You sure about this, doll? Ain’t sure if you even know what you’re doing. Last thing I want is to take advantage.” His voice was a tender, slurred rumble in her ear before he pulled his head back to search for hesitation in her eyes.
“Trust me. I know what I’m doing, Hancock.” Maya kissed him forcefully, no reluctance this time as her lips crashed against his.
Any prior reservations thay the ghoul held dissolved, he responded ardently, drunk on the ecstasy that was her taste. His fingers wove themselves into her hair, pulling her deeper into him with increased urgency.
At the peak of the moment, just as they were about to fall entirely, a familiar voice broke the spell.
“Seriously, Boss? Three in one week? Have some class. Where’s that Silver Shroud you were –“ Fahrenheit stopped abruptly as she realised the new girl Hancock had pinned to the wall  was Maya.
“Oh, I see...When you said you didn’t want to be disturbed, I didn’t realise it was that kind of meeting.”
Hancock’s lips lingered on Maya’s as their senses returned and they caught their breath. He carefully lifted his body away from her to glare daggers at his bodyguard.
Fahrenheit couldn’t prevent herself from smirking as she tried to stay serious.
“Boss, we need to talk.” Once more she glanced at Maya. “In private...It’s urgent.”
Hancock didn’t question it. Then Fahrenheit addressed Maya.
“Shroud, your friend from earlier is upstairs with Ham. Didn’t seem to understand that you two didn’t want to be disturbed. Idiot tried three times to get in, each time with a different costume and accent. Someone should tell him that those glasses are a dead giveaway.”
Maya laughed as she adjusted her dress and patted down her hair.
Typical Deacon.
Hancock told Fahrenheit that he’d be with her in a minute and to let the Railroad agent inside. Once the redhead departed, the two turned to face each other with reality restored.
“You sure know how to show a ghoul a good time.” He lifted her chin and kissed her softly. “I won’t be long if you want to take this fun meeting upstairs where we won’t be disturbed? Best Christmas present I’ve had in a long time.” The ghoul teased as he pulled away with a wink and smirk, following Fahrenheit to the bar.
Christmas present?
With a frown, Maya looked to her Pip-Boy as Deacon’s silhouette in a blond mop of a wig approached her.
Her heart sank
“00:24, 12/25/2287”
Her first Christmas without Nate and she was here doing whatever the hell this was with a man she’d just met?
It had only been two months without him...
With a the guilt swelling in her chest and choking her, Maya glanced over to the ghoul before darting for the stairs.
Never had she fled a place so quickly in her life.
