Fankid Week 2023 Day 6 - Friends / Other’s Kids / Fears

With the end of Ash's journey closing in it inspired me to try and do a pic with Ash and various fankids people have made for him.  I wanted to add many many more kids but I've reached my limit so no more for now!!  I was kind of trying to choose people who gave him bigger families but mostly it was just who I had time to add.

Currently playing a Skyrim (heavily nodded) play through (on top of my 2 Skyrim, 4 oblivion, and 6 Morrowind ones) and the character I’m playing is honestly so cool that I HAD to talk about her on here.

Morganna Pendragon was the daughter of a minor lord in High Rock, while her older brother, Uthur, was the squire of a knight lord, Morganna was drawn to a different path.

She was born out of an affair her father had with a witch of Nocturnal. This affair strained the marriage of her father and step-mother, especially since the witch stole many jewels and valuables from their home. Her stepmother took her feeling of betrayal out on Morganna, and her father rarely stepped in, causing her to become cold and distant towards both of them.

She spent much of her time in the local Mages Guild, reading histories and learning spells. In order to keep her out of the house and away from the family, her stepmother paid the Conjuration and Alteration mentors to teach her, and she began to form a parental relationship with the pair. Her Conjuration teacher, a Breton man named Ambrose, spent most of his spare time with her even outside of lessons, teaching her stories and alchemy. Her Alteration teacher, a High Elf woman named Lianthe, would also spend much of her time with the girl, teaching her many basic skills that her parents should have.

She would also build a sibling like relationship with the Alchemists apprentice, a Bosmer boy named Klarin.

On her 16th birthday, her stepmother gave her a glare and sneer, her father gave her a dress. Klarine gave her her ownn Alchemy Table and the key to the Guilds greenhouse, Lianthe gave her a hand carved mages staff and an enchanted dagger, and Ambrose gave her multiple books on history, mythology, and ancient artifacts.

When Morganna became 18, her father decided to try and marry her off. She refused, very bluntly. This caused an argument between her and her parents, causing Morganna to flee from the home in a rage. When she entered in the Mages Guild, her unofficial adoptive family brought her into a hug, bringing her to her favorite place in the entire guild-house. The Greenhouse.

When her parents found her, they tried to take her from the Guildhall, but her mentor and friend refused to allow her to leave. Her father struck Klarin, causing his to fall into a patch of Nightshade. While Lianthe attended to him, Ambrose summoned 2 dremora and demanded that her parents left the guildhall. They agreed, but vowed to return with the city guards.

After Klarin’s recovery, Morganna begged her friends to let her leave, but they refused. She then asked them to leave with her, to flee the city and find a new home. They agreed.

They made their way towards Hammerfell, deciding to rest there before choosing where to go next. On the journey, they came across a coven of witches. This is where they met Morganna’s birth mother, who embraced the shocked girl and cried a thanks to Nocturnal.

They remained with the coven for half a month, with Klarin deciding to stay. The other three bid farewell to their friend, and continued their journey. They soon came across a bandit gang. They slayed all of them, but Lianthe was mortally wounded in the process, and she was the only healer in the group.

Ambrose and Morganna continued traveling after burying Lianthe, but came across a cult of Mehrunes Dagon before crossing the border. They remained with the cult, with Ambrose joining their ranks, and Morganna becoming an acolyte.

As the two showed great understanding of Conjuration, they both rose through the ranks quickly, with Morganna reaching Grand Apostle on her 20th birthday. She received tattoos depicting the pages of the Mysterium Xarxes on her arms, which flew each time she used her magic.

As Ambrose grew older, and he became weak and sickly, Morganna began to prepare his death rites. On the day of his death, she performed the funeral ritual, and then exploded a boulder in anger and grief. She left the cult after that, heading towards Skyrim, where the cults intel claimed the shards of Mehrunes Razor rested.

She made her way to Markarth, resting in the Silver Blood Inn before setting off in her journey for the Razor.

Morganna is (obviously) a Daedra worshipping witch, and has little to no morals due to her 2 years in the Cult of Dagon. She mainly uses spells and dagger, and wears very little armor. She dresses in fancy clothes a jewelry due to her previous life as a minor noble, and I’m gonna give her Proudspire Manor as a main base of operations.

I’m gonna join the College of Winterhold, Dark Brotherhood, and Dawnguard as my main factions, and I’ll do the others just for skill points and gold. Her tattoos described earlier are a part of a mod I have that adds arm tattoos depicting the pages of the Mysterium Xarxes.

I’m most likely going to mainly be using Creation Club content for this, like the items added by the Cause or the necromancy one, since I have Anniversary Edition.

I’m also using Legacy of the Dragonborn (which is my all time favorite mod) to get my hands on more items like rings and amulets.

Morganna is a very dangerous person, as she is willing to do anything to get what she wants, and often times has the power to do so. She has very little respect for a great many nobles, as even if she was born into a noble family, she rarely had things handed to her.

She’ll make deals with whatever Daedra she sees fit, and will often times come out of the bargains with the best possible deal with the lowest drawbacks possible.

Im gonna adopt Sissel, after killing her dad, as I think Morganna would be able to sense her magical potential and her visions, and she wouldn’t be able to stand seeing a little girl in a situation similar to hers, even if it’s a bit different.

I’ll probably marry someone, so that there’s someone to watch Sissel while I’m gonna, and since it offers lots of in game bonuses. Haven’t decided who yet, but it’ll probably be a mage or noble.

Why is our Loki so underpowered now though? Since when does he not know how to do magic on his own??? We’ve seen him cast illusions, use mind control or influence, shapeshift, and telekinesis buildings into oblivion. We’ve seen him wield the Tesseract and the Casket of Ancient Winters. He can hide from Heimdall. We’ve seen him go toe-to-toe with Thor and the other Avengers. He’s battled frost giants, tricked and slain Laufey, and killed six Dark Elves in like three seconds. He gets up from being shot point-blank with a SHIELD energy cannon without so much as a scratch, easily catches Hawkeye’s arrow with his bare hands, is unharmed by its explosion, and is still barely scathed after being Hulk smashed through reinforced concrete. He doesn’t die when he gets killed. All the other variants of the character are off doing sorcery or highly skilled fighting in this series and yet most of the time ours just flits about awkwardly whilst dressed as a TVA accounting temp? Where is the sardonic, razor wit? He is not the only one lacking it, no one in this show feels clever.

Frankly, I think the ability to write a magically powered character well is directly dependent on the creativity, intellect, and boldness of the writers. Why was he running around to distract the lianth? We know he can duplication cast, create illusions, and hel, make fireworks, etc. Any or all of his own established powers would have served as well as or even better than a variant-ex-machina. He could have even led the other variants to that idea by starting it. More importantly, there are other ways to create intensity and drive a plot forward, you don’t always have to just throw up a giant monster or explosion.

I think the writers are too invested in their OCs. (B-15 is actually interesting though, at least she’s someone whose story seems worth caring about. C-20 could have been explored better too). Sylvie is a character I could have been very fond of if the story was being written differently, but as it stands now I feel almost resentful towards her. I came to see Loki (and not as her comic relief sidekick and/or *cringes* canon love interest. Of course fanfic writers and shippers feel free to do whatever you wish, and know that I don’t judge you for it, but that said I also don’t believe it should be in the official MCU canon. I really hoped and thought it would just be a fake-out).

Loki is NOT A NARCISSIST.

I don’t find it funny to use repetitive torture as a gag particularly on an already canonically abused and traumatized character (especially one of whom I am unashamedly rather fond, but this is a general rule). Loki is not some coddled little disney prince. This character ( the God of Mischief, a Prince of Asgard, the rightful King of Jotunheim) has been through a ridiculous variety of his own hardships, battles alongside Thor, battles against him, and alone. He is extremely powerful and experienced. He did not start out as a typical villain, and “redemption” does not mean he has to be depowered, converted into a typical hero, or otherwise made boring. Loki has always hovered somewhere more towards the middle, most interesting part of the spectrum, one slight shift of balance or interpretation sends him tilting back-and-forth from one side or the other in each given situation.

For whatever reason, the writers feel the need to have every character directly say everything they think and feel out loud as it happens. It comes across clunky, ooc, oversimplified, and dull. They also tell us what they want us to think about each character. You can’t tell your audience how to feel, the organic response to and interpretation of the story, its characters, and their actions is our glorious purpose job. Especially coming in with a character like Loki who has had a dedicated fanbase since the days of yore, you can’t afford to be so presumptuous as to believe the audience will just buy right into your interpretation, story, and your OCs’ words about him immediately or without question. We the audience have been around Loki and gotten to know and understand this character over a long time. Sure there’s differing fan interpretations, but there’s also some things that even if not outright stated in dialogue are still indisputably part of the text. Mind your lore and all its rich details. Respecting the history of an already familiar character should actually broaden the scope of your own storytelling. 

In Thor (2011) Loki was legitimately given the throne; Heimdall, Sif, and The Warriors Three committed treason against him, he killed Laufey. Loki’s goal was not to acquire the throne; but to prevent war and delay an arrogant, violent Thor’s ascent to power. He sought acceptance and an equal place in his family and among the people of Asgard. He tried to commit suicide at the end but was found and tortured by Thanos and his sniveling sycophants instead, leading to the events of Avengers, where he was also under the influence of the mind stone.

A lot of the things that feel awkward or ooc aren’t so much inherently bad ideas as poor planning and execution. The show wants to be smarter than it is, but also wants to be full of a brand of humor that just doesn’t land within this context.

Alligator Loki, I don’t fully understand, but I respect enough. I think it’s best left unquestioned. Unfortunately, it’s really not that surprising or strange to me.

GENRE - ya/mg medieval fantasy novelette STATUS - first draft complete  LENGTH - 12k  TRIGGER WARNINGS - sudden illness, attempted murder, needle mention 

SUMMARY - 

Dragon watchers are a selectively chosen group of people whose job is to raise young baby dragons when no one else can. Due to the fact that dragons’ lifespans are orders of magnitude greater than humans’, they know that their entire lives will be spent looking after a dragon who will never remember them. They will die long before the dragon even enters adolescence. Nevertheless, it is an important job, as only dragons who grow up with a constant human presence are ever comfortable enough to bear dragon riders. And the Queen is determined to strengthen the nation’s military presence with riders, even if the fruits of today’s labor won’t be reaped until generations later. 

Lianthe is chosen to look after the child of the dragon Sedna after she visits the palace, very pregnant and seriously ill. But what happens when she begins to suspect that Sedna’s illness is no natural thing?

While I have other projects lined up for the rest of this year, I really enjoyed this story and am considering redrafting it into a proper novel by further flushing out the world. For now, however, I’m happy with it in this form.

(  sherry is, and it is easily forgotten, a girl from the north. this means that while she has grown up to be accustomed to cold — and actually rather enjoys it — she does not have a high opinion of summer heat. hot weather quickly makes her feel gross and she is tired and it is just too warm for her to  want  to exist. spring is  much nicer  in her book as she likes the flowers and the weather is mild and pleasant, and autumn is just as pretty in zinnia as it was in lianthe, with all the pretty, burning colours. generally, the seasons are milder in zinnia than in other places of the country due to its proximity to the ocean.  ) —— *

👻 GHOST - do they believe in ghosts? what are their “ghostly experiences”, if any?

She absolutely does!! She has had many experiences with ghostly characters not only due to Tatia havinga special connection to the afterlife but also due to both of her major love interests both having fatal encounters. Rory, in the most simple sense, is a ghost, a reanimation of sorts, playing at being a living person. And Summer remains within the ether, and watches over Lia and their children. I think my favorite like, experience for Lia is that whenever she is having their children, whether she sees her or not, Summer is always there holding her through her labors.

💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

She does! She is one of those people who can knock out nearly 5 minutes after closing her eyes!!

🌹 ROSE - do they like valentines day? have they been confessed to before? have they confessed to anyone before?

She loves Valentine's Day!! ;w; So while she hasn't been confessed to ON a Valentine's Dad, she does get to enjoy (2) beautiful Valentine's dates with Summer. And no, she has not!

🍼 BABY BOTTLE - what are their thoughts on children?

Lianthe, like her siblings, really enjoys children!! One of her many dreams was to have a large family like her own, and is later grateful for her four children with Summer!!

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you’ve ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

So originally her design had green hair? Or brown, I can't remember. Her overall biggest change was changing her relationships with her parents, where her name was once Valerie and well, Drew and May were happily married with 5-6 other kids after her!

💘 HEART W/ ARROW - what traits do they look for in a relationship? do they believe in love at first sight?

Lianthe wants constancy. She doesn't care for large, showy displays of affection, she wants someone who will stay by her side throughout it all. Being chronically ill has made her wary of relationships because things can change in an instant for her and having someone who can be strong for her when she needs it is all she wants. She absolutely believes in love at first sight!! That's how she and Summer's relationship started! ;w;
