ARC Review: Chaos & Flame by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland

Order
Add to Goodreads
Publication Date: March 28, 2023
Synopsis:
Darling Seabreak cannot remember anything before the murder of her family at the hands of House Dragon, but she knows she owes her life to both the power of her Chaos Boon and House Kraken for liberating her from the sewers where she spent her childhood. So when her adoptive Kraken father is captured in battle, Darling vows to save him--even if that means killing each and every last member of House Dragon. Talon Goldhoard has always been a dutiful War Prince for House Dragon, bravely leading the elite troops of his brother, the High Prince Regent. But lately his brother's erratic rule threatens to undo a hundred years of House Dragon's hard work, and factions are turning to Talon to unseat him. Talon resists, until he's ambushed by a fierce girl who looks exactly like the one his brother has painted obsessively, repeatedly, for years, and Talon knows she's the key to everything. Together, Darling and Talon must navigate the treacherous waters of House politics, caught up in the complicated game the High Prince Regent is playing against everyone. The unlikeliest of allies, they'll have to stop fighting each other long enough to learn to fight together in order to survive the fiery prophecies and ancient blood magic threatening to devastate their entire world. From New York Times bestselling author Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton comes the first book in a ferocious YA fantasy duology featuring ancient magic, warring factions, and a romance between the two people in the world with the most cause to hate one another.
My Rating: ★★★
*My Review below the cut.
My Review:
This could have been so much more than it was. It had the potential to be an epic slow-burn with tons of political intrigue. Instead we get instalove and some rather obvious political machinations, though most of the story is focused on the "love triangle" of Darling and the two princes, even though the instalove makes it obvious that it's not actually a triangle. It was a struggle to care about any of the characters - except Talon's brother because he was chaotic and very interesting. But the story focused more on Darling and Talon (of course.) The worldbuilding is practically nonexistent, even though the setting could have been very interesting to explore. Especially since they are literally traveling from House to House? There were some parts I liked, and I am intrigued by the ending, but overall it didn't really stand out to me as anything beyond generic YA fantasy. The audiobook was easy to listen to and the voices didn't detract from the story. It wasn't an outstanding performance but it wasn't bad either. *Thanks to Bookishfirst and Razorbill for providing an early copy for review.

My personal DA4 wishlist + thoughts
I’ve been teasing this post for a couple of weeks over at Twitter, i’m the worst! But anyway, since game journalism has decided to confirm, once again, that the next Dragon Age game will be set in Tevinter like that’s breaking news, now’s as good a time as ever to write all this down.
Locations: Tevinter, clearly. It’s been pretty much a given since the end of Trespasser in 2015, with that scene where the Inquisitor stabs a map on a table directly on Tevinter as they promise to go after Solas to stop him. But also concept art and several stories from Tevinter Nights heavily imply Antiva, Nevarra, the Anderfells, and maybe Rivain. For those of you who don’t know your Thedosian Geography 101, that’s basically Northern Thedas. And it makes sense, since so far for three games straight we’ve been first stuck in Ferelden, then the coast of the Free Marches, and later the rest of Southern Thedas. We’ve never been North, only heard of it. So in DA4 i’m sure we will finally be able to visit.
Characters: If we’re going to Tevinter, we must meet Dorian again, maybe meet Maevaris Tilani as well (previously only seen in comics), judging from the latest comics series, i’m hoping for Fenris too. And going by the latest teaser trailer, we might see Varric again. As for characters that so far we have no news of, i’d like to see Cole, the Iron Bull, and if by any chance BioWare feels like blessing us with a Hawke/Fenris reunion i might just die happy.  I’d also very much like to see the Inquisitor, but more on that later.
Companions: considering concept art and the latest teaser trailer, plus Tevinter Nights stories and new characters, we have an interesting repertoire of new potential companions. A Tevinter mage, an ancient elf (like a temple guardian) or a dalish elf (like Strife), a Nevarran mortalitasi or spirit, Antivan Crows, Lords of Fortune (new faction, kind of like treasure hunters), Qunari lady, maybe an alchemist or shapeshifter, Grey Wardens (possibly a dwarf), a liberated or escaped slave, a Siccari (Tevinter spies/assassins)..even past agents of the Inquisition could return.
Plot: We know Solas wants to take down the Veil. We know there’s two archdemons left, and Grey Wardens are regaining some spotlight in concept art lately. We might have to fight on multiple fronts simultaneously and be strategic about it. Solas might even unleash a double Blight just to keep us distracted while he focus on his own goal, who knows. But many other things are happenig in the margins and all over the place. The Qunari Antaam is having a crisis with some of its members supposedly going rogue, the order they’re so proud of is breaking up, and the whole of Northern Thedas is facing an imminent threat of invasion. Tevinter is still dealing with remnants of the Venatori and might soon be dealing with a slaves rebellion and/or a political and social reform (Magisters Dorian and Maeveris have been working wirh the Lucerni, a group aiming to restore and redeem Tevinter). The Antivan Crows -the de facto rulers of Antiva - may be dealing with a succession crisis, as their First Talon, a powerful feared and respected but old lady, might not be around for much longer and seems her chosen heir has died before his time. Meanwhile in the Anderfells nobody’s heard anything from the Grey Wardens’ HQ at Weisshaupt since the end of Inquisition, and as told in the novel Last Flight, the sudden reappearance of griffons may have had something to do with that radio silence. So you see, get ready for another +100 hours long game because BW has plenty of stuff to keep us busy with. But in short, DA4 seems will be about primarily searching, finding, and dealing with Solas. Regardless of what you decided at the Exalted Council in Trespasser, the Inquisition or what’s left of it is most likely the group orchestrating that mission. As it was so clearly stated then, they need new people Solas doesn’t know so he can’t foresee their actions, so it’s possible the DA4 protagonist is a new agent or a third party hired to do what the Inner circle can’t due to their familiarity with Solas in the past. But at the same time -and this is assuming we get to find Solas in this game - i definitely think the Inquisitor could easily show up again. No, losing an arm doens’t mean they’ve retired forever, prosthetics do exist in Thedas, a world where you can combine dwarven craftmanship with enchantments, seriously, i don’t ever want to hear “but they lost an arm” ever again as an excuse to write them out. And no, marrying Cullen or joining the Red Jennys is no impediment to join the “Stop Solas” Squad; the end of Trespasser means something, mainly that this is personal. Be it they loved them as lovers, as friends or ended up hating his guts for using and betraying them, the Inquisitor’s relationship with Solas makes this very personal, and so having any other character do that face off would cheapen all of it, all that bittersweet angsty development and expectations of either revenge or closure. That moment should happen between those two. It adds a ton of motivation due to their past historyas well, something a new protagonist would lack entirely.  My personal best hope is for a sort of dual protagonist thing, say we play new protagonist for most of the game but a selected missions or scenes where we play as the Inquisitor once again and take over for key and heart-wrenching dialogue options. My second best hope is for the Inquisitor to show up as playable for the moment we catch up with Solas. My third and final best hope is for the inquisitor to be a sort of advisor but more like new protagonist’s boss/employer to whom they report back to and get new missions from. The Inquisitor can be stuck in meetings for the most part of it, i just want to know they’re there, behind a door, super busy but there. A cameo like Hawke’s in Inquisition is the bare miminum i can take, anyhting less than that like a mention in a sidequest description or a footnote in a codex entry would be a total  injustice.
Romances: I’m open for pretty much anything, as any good BW fan would be. But i’d like romances to feel more alive in the sense that they don’t abruptly get stuck once you exhaust all related quests and dialogue options. As much as my Adaar liked that spank from the Iron Bull, that it was the only thing they could share after their romance was locked was a bit..meh. I liked Dorian’s tho, because his gave one the option to talk a bit, go for a walk, gossip, and sure, it all happened off-screen, and there were limited possibilities, but it was nice and made their relationship feel a bit more real, like they had more to it than kissing and stuff. It happens in most games, once you secure a romanceable companion suddenly you run out of things to do and share with them, and you get stuck with the same 3 lines of dialogue over and over again. There should be a way of solving that.
Side quests: i’m ok with fetch quests initially as it is a good way of forcing the player to go out and explore huge maps, but i’d also like the fetching to have some meaning other than checking things off a list. I want to explore many ruins, and -can’t believe i’m actually saying this- i want a Fade quest. Wait! I know what you’re thinking but don’t kill me just yet, here’s my idea: what if we could visit the Fade at certain locations to witness memories or meet with spirits and recollect information on Solas, his past, his present? Both to understand him better (keep in mind we’ll most likely get a new protagonist who isn’t familiar with him like we are as players) and try to locate him or predict his next move. It would be i think i great way of having visions of Arlathan in its golden age, maybe seeing some of the other Evanuris, how they interacted with each other and with the elves in their service, what really happened ...i just want that sweet, sweet lore, i need it.
Technical stuff: ok, graphics will be amazing for sure, but i also would really really like: better, more varied and longer hairstyles, PLEASE. Body sliders, it’s damn time we get them. Mounts that actually make a difference! Let staves blades make damage in combat, I’M BEGGING HERE. Combined classes, MAGICAL ROGUES! A homebase we can fix up/build on/redecorate as fully as possible (Skyhold was great and i love it to pieces but why were those walls NEVER repaired????) . More casual outfit options, idk i love to dress up my characters, maybe some transmog? A day/night cycle and please i would love to see Thedas’ second moon, also weather variations depending on the region. Yes, i’m ambitious.
Gameplay: i’d like more AI options for companions, but not quite like in DAO, that was too much and i rarely used it. I’m curious how they’ll do combat this time but i know for sure i don’t want the kind of combat that has me going almost frame by frame pausing at every second, it’s annoying for me. I want large areas like in DAI but with a bit more stuff to see and do although one of my favourite maps is the Hissing Wastes so i won’t complain if we get a literal desert but i’d also like it to have secrets hidden around, make me work to find and solve them, i love exploring, i jump and click on EVERYTHING like i’m still a kid playing Monkey Island. A companion in concept art seems to be holding what looks like some form of rifle, so i’m curious how they’d incorporate that in the game. I know Tevinter has the magics and dwarves have the skill, a firearm is totally within the possibilities in-game without breaking any lore; also super curious what sort of skill trees Crows or Lords of Fortune could have, are they rogues, or warriors, or both??
So far, that’s what i got in my head.Well, most of it anyways, i may have missed something but this post has to end somewhere lol
What’s in your head? Feel free to share! Have you been thinking on how you’ll create your next protagonist? All i can think of is magical rogues and that  glowing bow was all the hype i needed.

Beorn - Brambles
Tumblr media
A/N: This has been sitting in my drafts a while... Might make a part 2.
Summary: Leona finds herself in Middle Earth much different than expected. Not human as she always had been but a skin changer. Gandalf and Thorin agree she could be a great addition! There's only one problem... She can't control her shifts.
Warnings: Smut
When I arrived in Middle Earth, I thought I had died or found an adorable little dream of being a giant. It very quickly turned to a nightmare when I discovered I was infact a giant. Not only that but Bilbo reluctantly took me in after seeing my panic (he'd been rather panicked himself seeing me appear in a small vortex of darkness) apparently there was no sound and the poof I was there and the vortex was gone.
There was no preparing me for how I looked.
The tail was the first clue things weren't the same. A long thing that had an tuft at the end. I had reached for my face. My long hair trailed down into sideburns, soft ones that just stopped at the ball of my jaw. Bilbo offered a mirror and I was shocked. In my world I was blond, yes, but a soft, whispy blonde, not a mane of sandy blonde that was thicker than I'd ever had it. There was a streak of darker hair, a dusty brown, it streaked down the middle and even crawled down my spine. I had never been so hairy.
That was the only difference. Apparently I had grown to a hefty seven and half feet instesd of my previous height of six foot one. It made Bilbos house cramped and frustrating.
The only change I had zero complaints with was the change in my eyes. Instead of the dark brown, they were golden!
It took quite awhile for me to grow used to the appearance. Especiallu with how folks looked at me. Gandalf was a kind soul with answers for me. A skinchanger, he had suspected. Few left of them, if any.
It was a blow to the gut. I joined him and Bilbo when they decided to journey with a strange company of dwarves. Thorin wasn't happy when he discovered that I had no idea how to shift.
The first time was a painful and exhausting experience. My bones grew and shifted until I was even larger. There was something liberating about it. It was the first time the orcs had found us near Rivendell. It made me feel wild and untamable. Even when I saw the horror in Bilbo's face, I charged several wargs. It helped that I was larger than them. It was surprisingly easy to rip my teeth into their flesh and tear them apart.
They chased us into the secret passage just as an orc slashed me across the face with a sword. When I slipped back into my human form, I had a gash from my jaw to my temple. It didn't heal pretty. I cut my hair too, much to the horror of the dwarves. It made the fur of my feline form (much like that of a lion) long and unmanagable before. So I cropped it short.
In Rivendell I had a dream. It unsettled me. I dreamt of a bear, larger than any I had ever seen, running through a forest, chasing me. I couldn't shift in the darkness of the approaching night. All I could hear was my heaving breaths. All I could feel was the cool dirt under my feet and the racing of my heart.
I mentioned it to Gandalf and he seemed to grow worried for a moment. And then it was veiled by a reassuring look. He didn't join us in the misty mountains, not until he helped us escape. And again with the eagles.
Everytime the orcs were near, it made my skin prickle and stretch and I was forced into my second skin. I nearly had Azog when I was scooped up by talons. I had was so exhausted from my shift it I barely made it off the carrock they dropped us at.
"Gandalf," I call just as Bilbo scurries over rocks to peer where the orcs would be riding near. I smelled something unfamiliar and it stirred something greatly unsettling.
"Shh, dear."
"Gandalf we need to leave." I snarl quietly. Thorin casts me a glance when the old wizard brushed me off.
"Why?" He demands quietly.
"I can smell something. This is no place for us. There is a warning for us to stay away. We are in grave danger here." It was the best way to express it. Thorin looked at his other dwarves. We weren't at the edge of the border yet, but it was nearby.
A distant roar catches my ears and an involuntary rumble leaves me. I have the insinct to run far, far away from here. Thorin did not like my sudden animal like terror. It was unfamiliar too him. Orcs and wargs I would attack, he'd never seen my flight instinct.
Bilbo scuttled back then. "How close is the pack?" Thorin demands.
"Close! Too close, a couple of leauges, no more. But that's not the worst of it." Another rumble left me a those words and many of the company looked at me.
"The wargs picked up our scent." Dwalin guesses.
"Not yet. But they will do it. We have another problem." Everyone circled around him.
"Did they see you? They saw you," Gandalf guesses.
"No that's not it."
"What did I tell you? Quiet as a mouse," Gandalf proudly bolsters. Bilbo's anxiety seems to grow as no one seems to pay him heed. They all begin to give proud statements of it. My low snarl cuts them off.
"What did you see, my friend?"
"What form did it take?" Gandalf's sudden graveness has me tensing. "Like a bear?" He ignores me snapping to my full height to glare at him.
"Y-yes!" Bilbo gasps in shock, frowning in confusion. "But bigger, much bigger." I feel my heart sink to my stomach and a hand rises to cover my mouth. "How did you know?" Gandalf passes a glance to me.
"You lying fucker," I snarl at him. All this time he knew about my dreams. And still he did nothing for it.
"You knew about this beast?" Bofur demands glancing between us both.
"I've been having dreams of it everynight since my first shift and he's promised me it's nothing! That's what I'm smelling, isn't it?"
"I say we double back!" Bofur calls as Gandalf turns and wanders in another direction.
"And be run down by a pack of orcs?" Thorin snarls. This begins the uproar of voices that chatter nervously.
"There is a house, it's not far from here where we might take refuge." Gandalf murmurs slowly.
"Who's house?" Thorin demands.
"Where?" I call as well, dreading the answer.
"Are they friend or foe?"
"Neither. He will either help us. Or try to kill us." My gut says it's the latter. I sigh and the howling of wargs, the scent of it near by, mixed with the unfamiliar scent of bear apparently, has my skin rippling.
I give a pained groan and mutter a quiet 'oh no'. The company is pressing back as I double over, they'd seen it twice now to know to give me as much space as possible. I give a whimper of agony as my bones and muscles contort themselves.
"Calm, Leona, calm yourself."
"Calm myself!" I snarl back. "You expect me to calm myself?" A crunch has me dropping to my side to writhe in pain. My cries louder than they'd like but no one bothers to stop the reaction. Next thing I know, I'm furry and angry. My clothes ruined.
I look to Thorin, plenty ornary for the both of us. And off we all go, me hot on their tails. Gandalf directs us from the back as the sound of a mighty roar fills the air. We were fucked. He leads us right to the house, the bear fast. Maybe I can slow it down, lead it another direction.
Gandalf calls to me when I pause, only nodding them on as I turn toward the trees. They sprint onward, only Bilbo being the one to shout about it. Thorin tows him along by an arm.
When the bear breaks through the undergrowth my heart thuds in terror. It was much larger than myself. I figured it'd be the size of a grizzly and I could fight it fairly. Boy was I wrong. The great beast was enormous. Twice my size at least.
He skidded to a halt. I lowered myself to the ground a bit more and gave a mighty roar. A challenge to this great beast as he snarled loudly. And we were off. He chased me through the trees, thankfully not as fast as I was, but it was close.
He abruptly veered and I realized we were clise to the house. The dwarves still weren't there yet. I could here them shouting as he approached. Now was my turn to chase him.
The slammed the door to the house in his face. It wasn't latched as he snapped his teeth at them. I did the only thing I could think of and barreled into his side. He roared as I shoved at him, knocking us both from the door.
I was to my feet and running as fast as my tired legs could take me. But he was right on my heels, still livid. I tore off across a feild, dogding frightened animals that fled in out wake. Just as I reached the woods, wargs howled again and I felt the inate reaction drive you toward them, a different fire in me.
This big creature seemed to do the same. Animal insinct to kill those nasty orcs. They too fled at the sight of the two oversized preditors. Finally, as the sky darkened, I'm reminded of the dream and all at once I'm shifting back without warning. I gasp in horror and surprise, scuttling to my feet as I feel the creature's attention on me once again. It hurts but adrenaline numbs the pain. Stumbling about, I hear him quickly approaching.
I shriek when something closes around my ankle and jerks me down to the ground. It isn't painful but a big weight is on top of me all at once, pinning me as hot breath brushes over my ear.
"How stupid are you, little cub?" A voice snarls behind me, shocking me into a stupor. I am flipped when the weight is lifted. An enormous man glowers down at me, his golden brown eyes glaring. I shiver under his naked form and his scent hits me like a ton of bricks. He was a skinchanger as well! I gulp as he bares his teeth down on me, glancing lower. "Not a cub, just stupid."
I can't bring myself to say anything as he drops his nose to my neck and breathes in a trembling breath. The air changed. It was heavy and desperate all at once.
We latched onto each other desperately, teeth digging, nails biting. It felt so natural for me to open my legs for him and for him to stretch the most delicate parts in a way I never had been. Even as a man, he dwarfed me. I found myself rutting against him furiously as we clawed in pent up energy. I vaugely remember crying out in ecstacy and begging for more.
When he'd finished shortly after I had, a howl filled the air and he dragged off of me, wild eyed. "Back to the house with you. Go." He barked. I could barely walk but I made it in an hour, feeling the drippings down my thighs. This would not look good. So I prayed they couldn't tell what I had done. The naked factor would be enough.
I knocked at the door, weakly. My bones hurt still, I was exhausted, but my whole body hummed. I have no idea what had come over me, but my legs were weak.
The door flew open and I stumbled in, dropping to my knees as someone cloaked me. "Are you hurt?" Bilbo rushed me, dropping before me. "Did you kill him?"
"No, no. I'm okay. The shift's just taken a lot from me. You didn't tell me he was a fucking skinchanger too." The latter was directed to Gandalf. The wizard smiled sadly at me.
"So you two met then?"
"Quite the greeting," I grumble. "He told me to return here when the wargs circled back. He took off towards them."
"We thought he was torturing you." Bilbo's words had you chuckling.
"Hardly."
"Then what was all the screaming?" Kíli asked.
I clear my throat uncomfortably. "Uhhh..."
"He defiled you!?" Thorin roared, oddly perceptive.
"Relax. It was pretty mutual," I offer awkwardly. The dwarves stare in shock, Bilbo's jaw dropping nearly to the floor.
"You... You..."
"Can we just get some sleep, please?" Among the hay, Bilbo offered me a spare tunic that could fit me. Apparently he'd been holding onto extra since Rivendell.
Tomorrow I would have to face the strange bear-man that I had let take me in the forest. I'd have to ask him if that's how he greats all skinchangers...

Greyhame Dunfihr
[GENERAL] Age:  44 Gender: Male Species: Mountain Dragon Height & Weight: 8' (2.4m) at shoulder; 23' (7m) long; 7 tons Birthday: March 13th Occupation: Quarrier/Stonemason Orientation: ironically I still have no clue Relationship Status: single sad boi Faction: Drakensang [IDENTITY] Personality: + Diligent + Honest + Gentle - Softspoken - Callous - Awkward If he could, Greyhame would exist as background. He never says much, even when addressed directly, as he is easily flustered and finds it much easier to work with only his own thoughts. He's honest to a fault, brutally so sometimes - he'll be truthful even when the truth might be better withheld to spare others' feelings, or to keep a secret safe. He's terrible with secrets, and learning any causes him almost constant stress that he'll accidently tell them to someone. Some people may think him rude or callous because of his honest nature, but he's a sweet and gentle soul for those who get to know him. Though he may not flatter you with compliments, he'll pick you up when you fall, and his quietude makes him a great sponge for outpourings of excessive emotion. Thanks to his preference of solitude, though, he's emotionally distant himself and his social skills leave much to be desired. Backstory:
They told him they caught the poachers near the quarry, trying to cross the Giant's Plateau to Ironvale from Grauran. They told him how the wagon was laden with trophies of their conquest, as much valuable material as they could carry from the dead dragon. They told him how the old couple caught them on their land and alerted the authorities in time for them to be caught. And they told him how the couple offered to care for the egg until its parents were found - and when they realized what the bloody spoils meant, how they left the egg in the couple's charge permanently.
All this they told him because, eggbound at the time, he could not possibly know himself.
Naomi and Edric Dunfihr were their names, the quarry owners. A human couple who had long wished for children but never been blessed with any. The orphaned dragon egg was not quite what they were expecting, especially at their age, but Naomi became attached at once. When baby Greyhame hatched, the Dunfihrs cared for him as they would their own son, though not without some assistance from their draconic faction neighbors. Though their baby was the size of a small steer with an appetite twice that, the Dunfihrs made sure he lacked nothing in his upbringing that his dragon mother would have provided. Even in their kind home, Greyhame developed several skittish, nervous habits that the Dunfihrs attributed to his traumatic beginnings, even if he couldn't remember the events himself. When he outgrew their cottage by the quarry, they built a new addition designed to suit him for many more years.
Being a mountain dragon, Greyhame was naturally drawn to the earth and the stone, and when he was old and large enough, he accompanied Naomi and their hired hands into the Dunfihr quarry to work as a miner and stonemason. Here, he found his element, his true calling. He could sniff out faults in the stone and tear out whole blocks with his bare talons, and he could carry twice as much quarried stone out of the pit as his fellow quarriers, in half the time. The quarry's business increased at once with Greyhame around to speed production along. Though his awkward claws could never master the delicate facades and engravings that Edric created in their workshop, his strength aided in maneuvering even the largest blocks of stone easily for transport and building projects.
Edric passed away peacefully at home when Greyhame was just twenty-eight, and Naomi joined him four years later. Management of the quarry fell solely on the dragon's shoulders, leaving him little time for mourning over the years. He didn't mind though; he liked working. It kept his mind occupied. He left his adoptive parents' cottage - it was too small for him, anyway - and moved into the caves near Grauran's heart, making the walk each day for work. When loneliness began to trouble his free time, he headed into the Plateau and the mountains beyond, exploring the wilds and searching out little treasures of the earth to bring home to his cave.
Still young for a dragon, but accustomed to the mortality of humans, Greyhame feels older than he actually is. The possibility of many, many more years ahead of him scares him a little - can he really go on forever, by himself? Abilities: - Seismic Sensitivity: Attuned somewhat to the movement of the earth, he can sense cavities and weak points in stone, as well as identify minerals by scent. - Fire breath: Though belonging to the earth in element, Greyhame possesses the biological ability to breath fire, like many of his airborne cousins. Digesting food produces hydrogen, a lightweight and flammable gas, to be stored in sacs next to his lungs. He can expel the hydrogen through his throat at will. When exposed to a steel catalyst in his teeth, the hydrogen ignites and creates a fountain of flame. This ability is limited by the amount of gas he is able to store, and must be recharged by eating, but being flightless, Greyhame can be a little more liberal with his fire. - Glamour form: It's not easy being huge in places designed for human-shaped folks. As such, Greyhame has developed a humanoid glamour form, based on the features of dragonborn. Taking on and maintaining this form expends a lot of eon, so he can't hold it for long, but it might come in useful in case of emergency. To date, he has only used it once, to put a baby bird back in its nest. (looks like this, height and weight consistent with old info) Strengths & Weaknesses: + Physically sturdy + Hard worker + Good listener - Poor socializer - Occasionally unaware of his size - Little to no fine motor skills Likes & Dislikes: + Rocks, minerals, gemstones - anything out of the earth! + Popcorn. It's his favorite snack but it takes a lot to satiate him. + Little flowers. He thinks they're cute and they give him a warm happy feeling, though... he isn't sure why. - Being put on the spot. - The color red. Makes him uneasy. - Being yelled at. [EXTRA] - His claws are heavy, adapted for gripping rock, and his scales protect him from most hard falls, so though he is flightless, nothing keeps him from reaching the highest mountain crags by climbing. - He's quadrupedal but can rear up temporarily on two legs, or crouch/squat to use his foretalons. - He has a harness designed to work with his clumsy claws so he can carry "saddlebags" on journeys or deliveries, or even just into town to buy milk. - Reading is a little slow for him; he might have mild dyslexia. - someday he wants to wear a sweater, they look so comfy - Voice is deep like this but a little more gravelly; this is also his current theme song. Relationships: - Naomi Dunfihr: adoptive mother (deceased) - Edric Dunfihr: adoptive father (deceased) [RP PREFERENCE] Media: [Discord] |  [Google Docs] Methods: Paragraph | Literature | Script | Headcanon up for anything! [RE!Hawk] It probably isn’t the backup he’s looking for, and it also wasn’t intended as backup in the first place, but beggars can’t be choosers and from the amount of gunfire that was sufficient to draw the Manticore’s attention, his is an urgent situation. In his capable hands, a pistol is a fine instrument of destruction. In hers, seven tons of ravenous Uroboros biomass is a nuclear bomb.
Hawker crashes headfirst through the wall of the warehouse, taking the dilapidated structure down the rest of the way and shrugging it off as if it is cardboard. The Tyrant is too big and moving too fast to alter course as it charges the agent, but the quadrupedal beast flings her tail sideways like a rudder and intercepts it so close to impact that one of the tendrils comprising her mane brushes Leon’s back as she hurtles past. The impact is tremendous, like a locomotive crash, and the fight is short. There is a struggle, snarling, a horrid cacophony of tearing and crunching, and the Manticore liberates most of the Tyrant’s upper half from the rest of its twitching corpse. Only when the voluntary kicking and thrashing stills beneath her taloned hands does she raise her head, scanning the dark with her many eyes. She did not miss his presence. It is hard to hide from a beast so well-evolved to hunt and kill.
There is a deft, almost birdlike toss of her head and a snap of tri-directional jaws and the beast swallows the mess of gore and fabric she is holding. A multitude of black tongue-tendrils sweep some of the blood from her muzzle and retracts back within her arsenal of dagger teeth with a metallic snap, and she rumbles softly, the sound punctuated by a snort.
Show yourself.
It took a lot, those days, to surprise Leon Kennedy. He'd seen and killed more nightmares than the average person ever had in their lifetime. But life had a way yet of throwing shit at him that he wasn't prepared for.
Something bursting through the collapsing warehouse he was partially sheltering against was absolutely not something he was prepared for and as such, the panicked dive away from the collapsing structure was instinctive so that he didn't get caught in falling debris.
He barely caught sight of the creature that had come barreling through but he definitely heard the sound of it crashing into the tyrant that he'd been facing off against - the last of the assortment of creatures bearing down on him and the second of two tyrants, if the motionless, mangled body lying a ways off was anything to go by.
A single glance over his shoulder was all he spared to make sure he wasn't about to get flattened by two monstrous and inhuman things before he was ducking into the still-settling ruins of the warehouse he'd already fought his way through earlier that day.
He remained hidden even while he heard the unmistakable sounds of meat and bone being consumed, not particularly needing to see that in detail.
When the victorious beast didn't move off though, he knew then that it was waiting for him, displaying an intelligence that worried him in what he assumed was another tyrant of some description. Arias had maintained his intelligence after becoming a tyrant too which suggested a worrying trend in the biggest and most dangerous bioweapons.
Despite the fact that it would likely only serve to piss the beast off if he fired it, Leon kept the magnum raised as he slowly emerged from the crevice he'd taken shelter in and took in the sight of his unexpected backup.

It’s 2019 us women shouldn’t feel like all we were born to do was cook and clean and make babies while our husbands work their asses off to provide for the family. - I don’t know about you, but my husband and I agree that things are equal in our household. Chores are shared, cooking and cleaning are shared, and his money and my money are OUR SHARED money. - For a few years, I didn’t have a job (due to health reasons that I’ll share on another day), so Talon 100% supported our family. During that time, I felt this deep shame inside of me like I was completely worthless. - Why should he have to take care of me like this? Why am I broken? Even though he assured me time and time again that he was ok with it. - But I still felt like I wanted to do more. I dabbled in a few things here and there and made a tiny bit of side cash, but it wasn’t until I found the company I’m with now that finally made me feel like I was able to contribute. - Yes, I have a part time job that I have to keep me sane (another one for another day 😂) but I’m making enough with my work from home job that I feel like I’m making a difference in our finances. - Something about being able to pitch in on bills and groceries is fucking LIBERATING. That and I don’t have to worry about money as much when I want new clothes or shoes 😜 I need a pair of Vans in every style they make ok?! Fight me 😂 - Also having been diagnosed with several health things, I never know what I’m going to feel like when I wake up in the morning. But with this, I can stay snuggled up in my jammies with my pups and work if I want to ☺️ - I know there’s a ton of stay at home mamas out there, and others that struggle with health things that prevent you from working a “normal” job, or just want to make some extra cash to be able to afford the things they want and not necessarily need. - I can’t stress enough how incredible this journey has been for me, and I want you on it with me. My DMs are open. I want to know your story. (at Boise River Greenbelt) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2XuKm8H-VO/?igshid=ley504lyhnzi

Buy Online Outdoor Bags in Pakistan | Top 7  Best Hiking Backpacks
Top 7 BEST HIKING BACKPACKS (2019)
Best exploring rucksacks Whether you are going to the mountains for a fast climb or for a considerable length of time at once, you have to ensure you have the correct rigging. I've been climbing for about ten years and have given a shot over twelve amazing climbing packs… This is the reason I composed this article on the best rucksacks for climbing and adventuring to enable you to discover your spirit pack.
Trekking is one of my most loved past-times when voyaging. To me, escaping the city and into the forested areas or mountains is essential. It helps reset my batteries and feel associated with nature. Besides, it's free! As a broke explorer, I invest a great deal of my energy outdoors and climbing in the mountains. The web is overwhelmed with open air marks, all of which guarantee to make the 'best' climbing packs. Also, a portion of the choices available are trash.

As a ten-year world explorer and experienced climber, I've by and by attempted all of the climbing rucksacks in this post on various climbs and undertakings. In this article, I evaluate the best climbing packs for you. I spread out my top picks for my preferred climbing knapsacks, and I'll acquaint you with my preferred outside rigging organization. The most significant factor when picking a climbing rucksack is to pick something that is agreeable.
On the off chance that you are conveying a substantial burden in your pack you will 100% need a hip belt with the goal that you can take most of the weight onto your hips as opposed to making them hang off your shoulders and stressing your back.
I've conveyed 20kg more than eighteen days for many kilometers generally easily as I had picked a hiking rucksack with a truly very much planned, all around cushioned, back and hip belt. As I would see it, the most open to climbing pack will have a ventilated back, a thick and agreeable hip-belt and the capacity to alter in a few spots.
Go for something lightweight
You need your knapsack to be as lightweight as conceivable while as yet being amazingly extreme and sturdy. I once had a ultralight rucksack however it broke before long as it just couldn't stand the mileage of being tossed around.
The best hiking knapsacks are lightweight at any rate so this isn't such a major concern. On the off chance that this is a major worry for you, pick a daypack for climbing.

You need an extreme knapsack for hiking
You need to pick a harsh and intense pack that can get hammered and still turn out grinning. Nowadays, most knapsacks are intense however you need to discover something that is additionally water-impervious to shield your stuff from getting drenched during abrupt deluges.
Regardless of how intense your pack is it will in the long run get harmed on the off chance that you use it continually – I live out of my knapsack – so once more, attempt to pick a climbing rucksack with a lifetime guarantee.

Look at our rundown of great waterproof rucksacks.
I generally suggest going for a rucksack with an inner edge. The best rucksacks for climbing have the bars that help it incorporated with the pack rather than outside of it, which makes it too reasonable and simple to convey.
Outside edges make your pack heavier and, trust me when you are climbing in the wild, the exact opposite thing you need is a massive, convoluted hiking knapsack to back you off. Pack light and you won't require a major casing!
Extreme Climbing Knapsack for Climbing
As opposed to prevalent thinking: go little or return home. It doesn't make a difference on the off chance that you think you are a light packer, on the off chance that you bear a major knapsack, odds are it will be filled in the long run with huge amounts of stuff you don't really require.Picking a sack with a littler volume will assist you with economizing space and keep your baggage light.
On the off chance that you are climbing in a blanketed territory you should go a size up, yet something else, the best knapsacks for climbing ought to be between 40-50L. By and by, I have one 70l climbing rucksack for enormous undertakings and a littler 30l knapsack for day climbs.
Material can represent the moment of truth
On the off chance that you are into climbing, you should realize that, in the end, you should confront the components. Downpour, heat or even day off, can happen when you are out there in the wild.
In this manner, picking the correct material is urgent when you are intending to get perhaps the best knapsack for climbing.

Light and safe materials like Dyneema are perfect, particularly on the grounds that this texture is water safe. It very well may be more expensive than different textures like nylon, yet it merits the speculation, I guarantee!
Best rucksacks for climbing
In the event that you are as of now putting some cash on probably the best knapsack for climbing out there, at any rate you need to make you that it looks great on you. There are a lot of alternatives with respect to shading and style, so pick one that makes you feel attractive… Well, as hot as you can feel in a sloppy wilderness!

For men – the Aether 85 pack is better on the off chance that you like to convey some additional apparatus on your trekking trips, however 95% of the time I could without much of a stretch pull off the space in the Aether 70l knapsack on my climbs. On the off chance that you incline toward something somewhat littler, look at the Osprey Talon 33 or for the women, look at the Osprey Sirrus 36.

old soldiers, chapter 2: she’d thought she was okay
Fuck me. What was I thinking? Venom thought, throwing up the throttle on her aircraft. How'd I ever think this could work? Why can't that bastard just stay dead?
A couple of years of therapy and liberal use of the web spread across and through her brain had helped. She didn't wake up screaming any more, at least, not often. But the rage - the rage that still laced through her being like the chronal accelerator which kept her in place in time - hadn't gone anywhere.
I should've known. I shoulda known, she thought, as her craft jumped high towards suborbital space. The old guard had to start showing up. Just bloody had to. And ruin everything.
She'd thought she was okay with Reyes's return. She liked the Angelino, and they needed a strategy expert. Amélie was not exactly thrilled, but then, she wasn't the liaison, and she wasn't going to break the project over it. But this, she thought, this... no. No more. We find him, we kill him, we fix it.
Her thoughts had mostly turned to a stream of comfortingly creative swear words by the time her ship's comms board lit up, with Amélie and Winston both, trying to make contact. She took Amélie's signal at once.
"Cherie, are you..."
"Jack Morrison is alive."
"I've been talking with Winston. I know."
"He doesn't get to stay that way."
The spider hummed a little; Lena could see in her mind the little smile that went with it, and it calmed her just a bit. "I think I agree," the spider said. "Winston does not, yet, but that is not important. Regardless, there are times and places and ways to consider. Please return to base. We should plan."
"Don't worry, sweetie - I'm not flyin' off to Mexico half-cocked. I'm already a third of the way home."
"Good." A moment passed. "I have missed you these last few days."
"I've missed you too, love. How was Calgary?" Calgary, and a minor target. Normally, beneath Talon's radar, but something twigged in the spider's web, and so, off she'd gone.
"Magnificent," replied the spider, warmly. "Not the town, of course, it is provincial in all of the worst ways. But the shot," she continued, voice liquid, "ahh, that was exquisite. I missed you all the more for it."
Venom smiled and relaxed a little more at the tone of her lover's voice. Reunion sex was always good sex, but reunion sex after a kill that made her spider's voice do that? Magnifique, as she would say. "J'ai hâte de t'embrasser encore."
"Très bien, mon bien-aimé," the blue woman replied. "Ton accent s'améliore."
"J'ai étudié beaucoup."
"Ça se voit. C'est merveilleux et je t'aime."
Lena flipped briefly to autopilot, closed her eyes, and breathed. "You're calming me down on purpose, aren't you?"
"Of course. But nothing you've said was wrong. Not even in French."
The younger assassin laughed a little, nodded, then laughed a little more at herself - nods don't make sounds. "Merci." She opened her eyes again, and took the little ship back off automatic. "Love you. Be home soon."
"I'll be waiting. Widowmaker out."
"Venom out."
Winston's hail still blinked on the comms pad. Hoo, do I wanna take this? she asked herself. It took a moment. ...yeh, I need to. She punched the acknowledge signal. "Tracer here. Sorry 'bout that, big guy. Got myself into a bit of a race."
On the other side of the signal, Winston slumped in his chair, relieved. He looked over at Angela and Gabriel though the office window, and motioned for them to come in. "It's okay, Lena."
"Nah, it's really not," replied the pilot. "I should've reined myself in, and I didn't. No excuses here, I've got the tools, I didn't use them, it's my fault. I'll do better next time, promise." Gabriel nodded a small silent approval, hearing that.
"Where are you?" asked the Lunar Ambassador.
"Sorry, luv. But nowhere you'd mind."
Heading home, then, he thought. Good. "Our new friend has some more information for you. I'll put it in the expected place."
"Righto, thanks."
"Talk to me later?"
"Will do. Tracer out."
"Winston out."
"Well," Gabriel said, "at least she owned up to it. That's something."
Winston and Angela both glared at the former Blackwatch lead, but it was Angela who spoke first. "Do. Not. Dare."
Gabriel raised his arms in a shrug. "Hey, I'm not the one who charged out of a staff meeting just because..."
"No," said the doctor. "Do not. This isn't your Overwatch either."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, doc, this isn't a power play..."
"I know you, Gabriel. Yes, it is."
"No, it's... really not," he insisted. "I'm not a senior officer anymore. I'm done with that."
"Then don't act like one," replied Dr. Ziegler. "You are not her CO, and you are not her father."
"She was already on edge about letting the old guard in at all, other than Angela," Winston said, quietly. "She bought in with you, because she likes you, and she respects you - but I'm the one who really wanted you onboard."
"But Winston, she can't do things like that, not in her position. I'm not a senior officer here, but she is."
"Then tell her that, to her face," said Angela. "Not to us, behind hers. You may say she's a senior officer, but you are not acting like you believe it..." She frowned. "This is not the old Overwatch. Do not bring in its baggage."
Gabriel slowly nodded, and his eyes narrowed. "...damn, doc, you're good. This'll take some serious getting used to, won't it?"
Mercy smiled and let herself look a little smug. "At least you owned up to it."
Gabriel laughed, something he rarely let himself do in the old days, and said, "I deserved that," and the tension drained from the room. "My CO is half my age," he said, rubbing his eyes. "I must be getting old."
Angela chuckled. "She's not really your CO."
"No, but you can't take the Army out of a man. Let me think of her like that for a little while, it'll help."
"As long as it's old Army, and not old Overwatch," insisted Ziegler.
"It is," answered Gabriel, chuckling, and shaking out his arms. "I feel like a First Lieutenant again, showing up, screwing up, getting my ass in trouble... Ana would have a field day if she ever heard me say that."
"Let's not bring up any more unpleasant stories right now," said the doctor.
"Agreed," said Winston, bringing the Morrison dossier up on his displays. "We have enough old soldiers to deal with already."

Contained within is an outline I’ve been working on for the next long Overwatch story I plan on doing. And it’s by far the most ambitious project I’ve come up with so far. The playable characters chosen for this were mainly one’s I haven’t written super in depth about yet. Also it’s just an outline so things are likely to change between now and when I actually write this. And that might be a while due to personal matters.
WARNING: THIS STORY CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING UNDER THE CUT
Villains who are essentially fascists.
Zarya/Mei breaking up.
A shit-ton of original characters (including LGBT ones)
Australia as the only location (a place I’ve never been to).
Lots of destruction.
Death of a playable character.
Commentary of events in the real world and in the fandom.
Something that could be interpreted as non-consensual.
And now, the outline
Overwatch - The Great Junker Revolt of 2078 Outline
 Chapter 1:
Satya, with some other Vishkar employees (Sanjay (m) (from the Symmetra comic), Ajit (m) (from Chittagong, Bangladesh), Amarjeet (f) (from Mumbai), Deepa (f) (from Columbo, Sri Lanka) (has a cybernetic eye, allows for better visuals in construction), Gauri (f) (from Bengaluru), Javed (m) (from Karachi, Pakistan), (has two metal arms), and Mamun (m)(from Delhi) visits Junkertown (Alice Springs) to give an inspection on the Junker’s Vishkar housing. It’s been one year since the development was completely finished, and the area has become moreso a safe haven. Jamie and Mako are excited to see her, as everyone has been expecting them, planning some kind of celebration. It’s become a proper town for the hundreds (thousands?) there, with noticeably less crime (Jamie still ventures out occasionally), and plenty of food and physical activity (Aussie rules and cricket). The people are made up of whites, aborigines, Polynesians, and Asians. The only reason they still call themselves junkers is because the rest of the world does. One night, they have a celebration of the one-year anniversary. Mako puts on his Islander outfit as part of a fire-twirling act. Jamie and Satya dance in the desert (Roadman and Stomper are there too, along with a male (Maori named Tamati, Junker name is Wolfman)/trans male couple (Riley, Junker name Bushwhack), and others who’ll be prominent later on). Jamie contemplates asking Satya to marry him, but relents, thinking now during when she’s supposed to work isn’t the right time. Stomper takes a particular liking to Sanjay.

Two days before the celebrations are happening, we follow Leslie, an engineer for an aerospace company in Perth. She comes home to her girlfriend Emma (we intentionally know as little about her as possible), talking about her day at work. The company is trying to recreate the slipstream, and feel with 11 years of technological advancement since the initial incident, they can avoid the mistakes of the first go-around. The two go out to dinner downtown, discussing developments happening elsewhere in Australia, like Junkertown. They talk about what it would be like to visit there. As they leave their meal, panic starts ensuing on the streets. A band of radical junkers storm Perth. Here we meet our main villains of the story, though they go nameless here. Random madness ensures in downtown, during which Emma is killed. Leslie flees the city with some others, making their way to Junkertown.

  Chapter 3:
The morning after the party, Leslie, with the others, arrive at Junkertown seeking sanctuary and an audience. They talk about the destruction they fled from Adelaide. The junkers decide to take them in, telling them what the living arrangements are like and giving them new Junker names. Leslie’s is Crank. Satya and the Vishkar people wonder who could’ve done this. Mako responds that he knows exactly who did it.

  Chapter 4:
Flashback. It goes back to when Mako was in the Australian Liberation Front, with a wife and child of his own. The raid on the Australian Omnium is taking place and among the more eager participants are Gigantor and his wife, Crazy Steph. Even among the ALF’s crazed anti-omnic ranks, they were considered radicals. They were caught in the blast when it was destroyed, but they survived. Mako’s wife and child, however, didn’t. The surviving members, seeing that their job was finished, split up into the various Junker bands. Gigantor and Crazy Steph’s group were considered the most nomadic, and he worries what an entire junker band of his fascist tendencies would do. Fearing the worst, Satya urges they call Overwatch to bring in backup.

  Chapter 5:
Back at Gibraltar, Winston finishes up his message with Satya and gathers whoever’s available of the main team. They remark on those who aren’t present and their missions. The team sent includes Fareeha, Jesse, Aleksandra, Mei, Lucio, Hana, Torbjorn and Brigitte. They are initially sent by themselves to survey the situation, to determine if any more backup is needed. They make banter on the flight there.
  Chapter 6:
The first team of eight arrive at the settlement, and are given a somewhat less than stellar welcome from the other junkers. Even if some remember how the junkers helped bring down Talon. Despite living in provided housing, they believe they can more than protect themselves. Jamie and Satya argue that they need their friends. Amidst the arguing, an attack from one of Gigantor’s advance troops happens, leaving them unprepared. A portion of Junkertown is destroyed, the hard light structures disintegrating, with a message coming in claiming there’ll be more attacks unless the town is abandoned and the worthy junkers, upon agreeing to return to their former lifestyle can join Gigantor. The Overwatch team then decides to call base for backup. Then, we see some of Gigantor’s main camp, as he goes on a fascist rant on how he’ll destroy Junkertown, take down their Overwatch cronies, then the Australian government itself.

Beds are Burning – Midnight Oil
  Chapter 7:
Backup arrives in the form of many things. Fareeha has some of her Helix troops brought in with their own Raptora suits, including a new suit for Fareeha, the Raptorion, for Fareeha. Jesse has some protégé’s, (Roxanne, African-American, from Houston) (Chaya, a Jew from Tel Aviv, Israel) (“Wee Baby” Seamus, from Dublin) keeps talking about starting his own group of historically themed soldiers called McCree’s Outlaws. Time is spent introducing them, getting acclimated to Junkertown. And learning more about main Junker characters. An early argument breaks out between McCree’s group and some junkers, that results in fighting, involving some shooting and wounding. Some of the Junkers try hitting on the other Overwatch members, with Lucio being flattered by both the women and men (D.va is jealous). Stomper still tries to get with Sanjay, who tries warding her off, while Leslie, working with Torbjorn and Brigitte in helping build Junkertown’s defenses, still dealing with grief. She finds herself attracted to Zarya after making sure her particle gun works. Mei shows signs of being uncomfortable here, with her ice equipment not working right, and showing signs of her relationship with Aleksandra falling apart.

Psychobilly Freakout – Reverend Horton Heat
  Chapter 8:
Jesse has an idea to pre-emptively scare the opposing forces off. It requires his forces, along with Fareeha’s, to find where their camp is and raiding it, taking a very convoluted path there to avoid getting noticed. He doesn’t believe they’re that tough and, with the various Raptora suit’s firepower, they’ll scatter back to their dustpile. As they make their trek to the supposed location, the various members get to know each other better, while Jesse and Fareeha reminisce about the times they spent together as kids. Members of both McCree’s and Fareeha’s groups said they wondered if they would ever get together.

  Chapter 9:
The team reaches the enemy camp, but find it less populated then they’d imagined. Still, they continue with the sneak attack, but the junkers left behind are plenty prepared. While they sneak around, they hear bits of fascist talk similar to what we heard already in Chap. 6. In the ensuing battle, some team members are killed and Pharah’s Raptorion suit is damaged. Then they realize Gigantor and Crazy Steph weren’t there to begin with. Instead, they must’ve gone leading an attack against Junkertown. They bid retreat.
 Soundtrack:
Red Right Hand – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
  Chapter 10:
In the meantime, there’s more bonding between the Overwatch members and the junkers. Each Overwatch member there shares their hardships that helped make them who they are now. Hana, Aleksandra, and Torbjorn talk about their times fighting Omnics at the outbreak of the second crisis. Mei talks about Ecopoint: Antarctica. Lucio talks about fighting Vishkar, which gets some of the Junkers confused because of how generous they’ve been to them. Lucio still has his suspicions despite Vishkar being on Overwatch’s leash now. Crank (Leslie) tells her story of back in Perth, along with the actions we’ve seen already in Chap. 2. She gets some sympathy from Aleksandra, and Crank offers to make some more improvements on her particle cannon, something Brigitte recommended to get her attention. Their talks are interrupted when the enemy Junkers arrive outside the Junkertown walls.
  Chapter 11:
The fighting goes on for a while, with significant portions of the town defenses destroyed. With the missing forces of Farreha’s/Jesse’s men, the defense is less than stellar. A good amount of defenders, including Roadman, (not sure who else yet) are killed. Hana’s MEKA is destroyed, and is unable to properly call in a new one. Zarya’s gun is damaged. The enemy Junkers retreat only because Gigantor boasts about letting them suffer a bit more before coming in for the final blow.
 Soundtrack:
2 Minutes to Midnight – Iron Maiden
  Chapter 12:
Fareeha and Jesse’s team arrive back too late. A significant portion of Junkertown has been destroyed, with the Vishkar people working on rebuilding. Mei, still distraught over the fighting, briefly withdraws as Zarya tries to comfort her. Mei has a long bout of saying what’s been building insider herself. Mainly how she feels out of place in the hot desert, not being a proper soldier, and wondering why she ever agreed to date Zarya in the first place. With the additional pressure of what would happen to them if they lose, at the mercy of the homophobic Gigantor, Mei then breaks up with her and storms off.
 Soundtrack:
Bittersweet – Hoodoo Gurus
  Chapter 13:
After she breaks up with Zarya, Mei goes to Satya and Jamie to tell them what happened. She goes further into her reasoning, including some things she didn’t tell Zarya. The two ask her what she’ll do now, seeing as it’s kind of awkward they’ll still be around. Mei isn’t sure, but it was done for both of theirs safety. In the meantime, people are rebuilding the town’s defenses.
  Chapter 14:
Zarya was blindsided by Mei’s breakup. That had never happened to her before. First, she goes to Crank (Leslie), in the middle of helping Hana build a new MEKA, to have her particle cannon repaired. Crank tries to make her interest in Zarya shown, but she’s too sad right now to pay attention back. She goes to Roadhog to share the news. Zarya talks about her past relationships, and how, despite being seen as a national hero for a traditionally homophobic country, she kept on being who see was through all instances of omnic uprisings in Russia. Roadhog goes into a long story about a woman he loved during his time with the Australian Liberation Front, how they had a little family together, and how she and their kid died while on the run after the Australian omnium blew up. Since then, he hasn’t had any romantic partners, as Jamie, despite his annoyances, sort of became the son he never had. After telling more of how he met Jamie and their initial adventures, Zarya appreciates him saying all that. Later that night, as Zarya gets ready for bed, Roadhog walks into her room, taking off his mask. She wonders what’s happening, but then he tries to force himself on her. Zarya repeatedly tells him she’s not interested, but that doesn’t deter him. Zarya then punches him in the gut and face to force him off. Roadhog finally gets the point and leaves.

  Chapter 15:
The next day, the defenses are nearly complete. D.va’s new MEKA out of scrap metal is finished. Roadhog initially ignores Zarya for most of the day, then she confronts him about last night. She states whatever affection she may have shown him yesterday was not meant to be romantic. She’s interrupted when another attack is on the way.
  Chapter 16:
The rest of the town puts up a valiant defense, but plenty of the town is destroyed again. During the fighting, Roadhog leads a group of Junkers outside the town walls to try and take the fight back to Gigantor, and they have a confrontation. It’s ultimately a losing effort. After the fighting is over, Jamie and Satya find Roadhog’s dead body outside the perimeter.
 Soundtrack:
The National Anthem - Radiohead
  Chapter 17:
It is the day of Roadhog’s funeral. A large hole in the ground is dug out for all the other dead Junkers to go in, with Roadhog’s body near the top. Some people make speeches about who they lost so far. Jamie requests some time to say some words about his fallen friend. How they’ve been very much inseparable over the past few years. How they came to know each other. The crazy adventures they’ve been on. How he was the father he never had. Jamie’s crying by the end of it and others start filling in the hole. A group of Gigantor’s men watch from the distance.

 Chapter 18:
It has been a few days since the funeral. Zarya and Crank (Leslie) get closer. Lucio, D.va, and Mei help try to cheer Junkrat up, but he’s still noticeably upset. Satya then tries, but he lashes out at her. How all this plans for a perfect post-Junker life have gone down the tubes. During his rants, he absent-mindedly admits that he wants to marry Satya. Satya stops so he can backtrack, then Jamie feels embarrassed he said that out loud. She says she’d be honored, but he insists now is not the time, since Gigantor’s men are still out there. During the night, Jamie rides out of Junkertown on Roadhog’s motorcycle to the enemy camp.
 Sountrack:
Black and Gold – Sam Sparro
 Chapter 19:
Armed with plenty of bombs and other explosives, Jamie storms the outpost by himself, finding it noticeably less crowded than it was before. One of the troops says Gigantor’s main force left the area for Canberra, thinking the group left behind would be good enough. He feels with this might shown, he can take on the Australian capital to carry out his plan. Upon destroying the last of the place, Jamie goes back to Junkertown to tell the rest what’s going on. They then mobilize.

 Chapter 20:
The caravan of Junkers and Overwatch members head down to Canberra when they make a rest stop. More bonding time between the various groups we’ve become accustomed to before they move out again.
 Soundtrack:

  Chapter 21:
Gigantor/Crazy Steph’s army arrive in Canberra, causing chaos in the city the same way they did in Perth. The chapter ends as the Junker/Overwatch team arrive.

  Chapter 22:
The two sides brawl it out in the Canberra streets. Junkrat kills Gigantor while Crank (Leslie) kills Crazy Steph. As the teams regroup amidst the destruction, Junkrat comes to a realization. Despite the generally accepting nature of the Junkers, they’re likely to end up as closed-minded as the people they’ve just beaten. So, without asking for any of the other’s permission first, he decides the entirety of his Junker group should join Overwatch for their own good.

  Chapter 23:
The Overwatch team packs up and prepares to head back to Gibraltar, with the surviving junkers joining them to become full members. Mei and Zarya finally put things behind them, as Zarya has grown fond of Leslie. As the Overwatch team, Junkers and the Vishkar team are airborne heading back to their respective bases. Jamie finally properly proposes to Satya. She says yes.
