i really love female byleth's voice actress and i'm so glad we get to know byleth and jeralt more in three hopes. the way she talks makes her sound like she doesn't fully know how human communication works and that fits her character so well. i love byleth being this uncanny person-esque individual at first and then slowly growing into something more human (so to speak) as they find themselves surrounded by people who admire and respect them and want to get to know them and bond with them. that concept resonates with me so deeply as someone who often feels like some kind of foreign entity when around "normal" people due to developmental trauma + chronic dissociation + being autistic. i just love byleth and their story whole big bunch ;-;

dimitri come on - i’m suspicious of this random child who wants to join us with a convenient revenge story……… maybe YOU’RE the one who killed her brother. i mean i guess you’d respect being assassinated by her then but i think she’s just a spy lol

I've just finished Reunion at Dawn in VW, and I really enjoy how Claude and the Alliance characters immediately start talking about politics, strategy, and how to rope the Church into Claude's schemes.
I also loved how Claude was the first one to arrive at the monastery, because he wanted to fulfill the promise he made to Byleth and the Golden Deer House, and he still had hope the Byleth was still alive. I really like Claude and Byleth’s parntership, they make a great team and Claude takes a genuine interest in Byleth’s special circumstances. So it feels like an equal partnership in which both Claude and Byleth go out of their way to help the other one with their problems (a real breath of fresh air after AM made everything about supporting Dimitri and only Dimitri)
And, it’s always touching to see how Claude’s attempt to reach out was reciprocated by the rest of the Deer, as he started the day unsure if the rest of the class would come to the monastery to fulfill the promise to meet again for the Millenium Festival, but he grew more sure of himself and of the real bonds he had made with the Deer as they started to show up for the battle.
The after-battle reunion was really enjoyable and flowed well, as Claude started by reaching out to the rest of the Deer and Byleth for support for his future plans, being honest to Byleth about how her support would be invaluable, both as a political and military leader to rally the faithfult to the church around, as a trustworthy friend.
The best part was Claude, Hilda and Byleth teaming up to manipulate the Church followers into joining forces with Claude and the Alliance and helping them rebuild Garreg Mach. Another detail I liked was Claude’s happiness at seeing Cyril safe and grown up, as well as immediatly trying to reassure him that he doesn’t need Rhea to be welcome to stay in Fodlan. Deprogramming Cyril out of the cult mentality that Rhea instilled in him is going to be hard, but I’m invested to see if Claude will be able to pull it off.

I'm really sorry for the ask spam!! It's just that I have been following you're fe3h content for so long and now you're on bg3 and it's so cool, I love hearing all your thoughts!
Have a good day or night and sorry again!!
You hit me in the BG3 - Fe3h brainworm, thanks you so much
hehe ty, it really is a pipeline.
Vaxlan give Felix vibe
You know it's funny you say that because I based him off of the ship Vax/Scanlan from Critical Role but mostly off of Vax's looks and the entire reason I was first interested in Felix FE in 2019 was because I thought [pre-time skip anyways] Felix reminded me of Vax in looks😂if it wasn't for that guy I wouldn't have had my fe3h phase

Love hearing about your playthrough too, it's very entertaining :]

If something like a Golden Route in FE3H was possible, how would you personally like it to go/how do you think it would realistically go? (Feel free to read that as the same question or two separate ones lol)
after beating the game in its entirety, i don't think a "golden route" i.e. all the lords joining forces would be possible, no. dimitri and claude i could see forming a genuine, beneficial alliance. dimitri i think is a given since dimitri and edelgard's ideological differences are hashed out in the game itself but as for claude, he's against the system of nobility but not necessarily the existence of the central church itself and doesn't see them as evil or controlling humanity. i think he'd display more curiosity about the nabataens and their role in fodlan's past (and present) rather than having a desire to destroy them and wouldn't be on board with that idea, in-part due to his own life experiences. he doesn't seem to hate rhea per-se; his talk about how fodlan might be better off without her due to her doctrine shutting out the outside world and enforcing the system of nobility seems very impersonal, being less about rhea herself and who she is as a person so much as what role she plays in shaping fodlan and how its affected society. edelgard also is against her for that latter stuff but sees the nabataens as malicious figures in fodlan's history, and thusly sees the removal of the nabataens from...well...existence. claude, by contrast, doesn't cast rhea with that same malice. i don't think he cares for her very much but that seems like it has more to do with a combination of hailing from a nation where the church of seiros has no influence, his own thoughts about gods and religion, and his beliefs that do conflict with rhea. he's not fond of the church or its authority figures but he doesn't want to see it destroyed and i doubt he'd see it as beneficial to fodlan to do so.
on the other hand, i don't see claude agreeing whatsoever with edelgard's whole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps, if you're too weak to do that then you die i guess..?" thing. he displays himself to be a more compassionate person than that. that's where his beliefs are more in line with dimitri, i think. i don't see dimitri opposing claude's desire to open fodlan up to the outside world, for certain, especially considering dimitri's feelings about duscur. i dunno about whether they'd agree that the noble system is kinda fucked - i'd have to play through AM again to remember dimitri's thoughts on crests.
that's the fe3h-related thoughts. there's stuff that happens in few3h that's related to this that i feel like i should add on - though i'm not done with GW yet so it's incomplete thoughts i guess.
[ few3h spoilers ]
maybe my insistence that claude wouldn't be on board with edelgard seems silly in the face of him forming a pact with edelgard and going against the church in few3h, but he explicitly states it's a "we're using them just as much as they're using us" relationship and the stuff he says at the beginning of that conversation tells me claude really doesn't like or trust edelgard. as for him going against the church and kingdom - i think it's about context, not so much byleth's presence in his life (even when not in his house) so much as his time at the officer's academy and the events that play out in fe3h and the fact the church immediately allies with the alliance post-timeskip in VW (in the other routes though he's evidently more focused on preventing the empire's war from harming those in the alliance, a defensive position rather than an offensive one, so he has no reason to target the church. by contrast, in few3h, we're on the offensive.) those events don't happen in few3h. he doesn't have the same curiosity he does in fe3h because he's the king of a nation now and his mind is focused on that, whereas in fe3h as a student he evidently has the free time to be researching and otherwise be nosy (affectionate.) he becomes the grand duke in fe3h regardless of course but it's also evident his focus has shifted towards leadership post-timeskip, though obviously the "wtf is going on" part of him crops up again when rhea turns up. i'm hoping he turns around at some point in the story and realizes allying with the kingdom and supporting the church and fighting the empire is what the right thing to do would be, but i can only hope lol. catherine dying doesn't bode well for that though - at least, that's what it feels like.

god okay I was just reminded of this while talking to amy who is playing the AM route in fe3h and now I'm Feeling In Some Kinda Way about sad siblings
you know how at the end of Felix/Mercedes's C support Felix says
"I am me--Felix Hugo Fraldarius. There is no one else."
and then follows it up with
"Brother..."
with an uncharacteristically wistful, forlorn gaze?
when I originally saw this support I read this line to mean something like "I'm no one but myself...how ridiculous, to think that she'd mistake me for her little brother," with only a hint of his own sibling-angst to come, but after I watched this scene with Japanese audio, where the line is:
「俺は、俺だ。誰に何を言われようと、他の誰でもない。」
「……なあ、そうだろう。……兄上。」
(lit. “I am me. No matter what I’m told by anyone, I’m not anyone else...Isn’t that right, older brother?”)
it becomes clear that not only is "brother" referring to Glenn and not Emile, he's actually addressing Glenn directly here, which reads very differently
this becomes obvious in hindsight as of their B support ofc but whereas the localization leaves it a bit ambiguous here, his Japanese line is clearly meant to be interpreted as "as much as others might like to compare me to Glenn, I’m not him,” with a bonus of actually seeking this validation from Glenn himself and man that really gets me in the jugular

Jeralt’s chapter and the dialogue afterwards always gives so much insight into the characters. Some analysis on how the three lords interact with Byleth afterwards.
Edelgard relates to Byleth by offering a goal to work towards in order to move on. Because what helped her move on and revcover from her personal tragedy was to find a worthy goal that, if accomplished, would help make sure that what happened to her wouldn’t ever happen to another person. Her way to deal with her trauma is to work through the pain of loss by doing something productive for the greater good.
Dimitri relates to Byleth by offering a shoulder to cry on. He tells them about his own experience with losing his father and family in order to show Byleth that he understands what they are going through. What he offers is emotional support and validation of Byleth’s sadness, anger and wish for revenge.
Both Edelgard and Dimitri offer to help Byleth get revenge on the ones who killed Jeralt. But the way they frame it is different. Edelgard, even in her explore dialogue, frames it as "we cannot allow the killers to roam free". Edelgard frames revenge as stopping TWSID from committing more atrocities in the future. While Dimitri frames it as eye-for-an-eye, to punish those who hurt Byleth by killing Jeralt.
The way Claude relates to the whole incident is different. He's not so focused on revenge as on RESEARCH. Because the way Claude bonds with Byleth is through a shared interest in investigating the Church and uncovering the secrets they are hiding. They have several interactions throughout White Clouds that are all about investigating the church, grilling relevant church members for info, and scouring the library for secret knowledge.
So, by the time Jeralt dies, Claude is Byleth's investigation buddy. Which makes his petition of borrowing Jeralt's diary make sense within that context. And that’s because Claude's way of helping Byleth process their grief is to help them make sense of the contents of the diary, of the mysteries of the church and of the truth of their origins. Because that’s another emotional bomb that Byleth has to deal with after Jeralt’s death: the truth of Sitri’s death and of their birth, what Rhea did to them as a baby, and what that means for them as a person. And that aspect is what Claude helps Byleth with, more than revenge on Jeralt’s killers. That’s why he’s pushy about getting the diary, and in the explore afterwards, he talks to Byleth about it.
