I think Shiun occaisionally gets these rare moments where he's self-conscious about how dangerous and scary his body is. Like in the quiet hours when he's alone, he'll look at his claws and horns and spikes, and maybe sometimes he'll wish he wasn't so hostile in design. A bit safer to touch and hold. Maybe he'll wish that he doesn't have to fear breaking the delicate things he holds. Maybe he wishes that he doesn't have to be so careful of his sharp edges.

Thinking about how Shiun wears full-cover armor, gloves, and thick padded clothes even though it's uncomfortable for him just so he doesn't accidentally hurt people around him. About how he tries to take up as little space as possible sometimes because he's so aware of his size and he feels far too big.

Thinking about how his glare alone is enough to send most people scurrying away even if it was really just a passing glance. Thinking about how animals and children shy away from his appearance and looming presence. Thinking about how he might look at himself in the mirror, at his black and white eyes and light-tainted hair and skin and wonder how anyone could see him as a person- let alone a hero.

I just think that sometimes Shiun wishes he was softer.
