Kicking It with Tachichi on The Word is Bond Radio Show
Tachichi and Lxvndr just dropped a phenomenal album entitled “Found Money” and I was excited to get them both on the air to talk about it. Tachichi has consistently been putting out music since the 90s and Lxvndr has been making a name for herself for years now. Unfortunately, Lxvndr wasn’t able to

Russell Louder Interview
Hey! It’s been awhile eh, well here’s the first High Trash Media interview since 2016! Just in time for the first High Trash Festival! This interview is with Russell Louder! One of the performers at the first HTF and also one of my favorite pop artists!
High Trash Media: What is your favorite colour?
Russell Louder: I don't have a favourite colour but I go through phases where I'm fixated on a certain colour.  Right now I’m nearing the end of a teal phase.
HTM: How have you found being an artist on a label?
RL: It's been amazing.  I don't necessarily recommend being on a label to every artist, because though every indie label generally has a similar goal, team dynamics/infrastructure/involvement in artist development is really case-by-case.  It's really just finding a relationship that works for you. I was lucky enough to find a label that caters to my needs and development in the way that works for me - a hands-off, yet grounding and development-focused approach, which, being early in my career, feels ideal and supportive.  But, that might not work for a band that's been actively releasing music and touring for 10 years with a huge following and a self-contained infrastructure.
HTM: What's your thoughts on the album format in 2019?
RL:  I think it's dated and I think the music world as a whole should move on to supporting more indisciplinary and intermedia projects, because that's where I see the most interesting music projects going.     But as someone who currently relies on the grant system as it is in order to make my work, and as someone who also literally just got a grant to make an album, I have to figure out a way to benefit from this system for sustenance while making my work interesting for myself.  I have no interest in pumping out 10-12 songs as a single body of work and being like "here is me, world. enjoy!" and have that be where it ends.  It's a process that's tried and true, I guess.  But, to me, that's just such a linear way of putting out work.
HTM: Who are some of your influences that may surprise people?
RL: I hate it when people ask me for my musical influences because that landscape is ever-evolving for me.  I'm a music nerd, bigtime.  I spend hours surfing the internet just finding the weirdest corners of what my brain enjoys hearing.  It really depends on the week and it depends what I'm working on and what interests me.
HTM: You have been playing around the world lately, where left would be your dream place to play?
RL: I would love to play Portugal, Greece, Argentina, Brazil, France - but I want to play everywhere.  Those are mainly just the countries I'd be curious to see how the crowds would receive my project.
HTM: What are some questions you would like to never see again?
RL: When any cisgender interviewer tries to pry about my transness.  I straight-up shut those questions down now.  It's so disrespectful.
HTM: Do you have any dream collaborations?
RL: Christine & the Queens, Peaches, Laurie Anderson, Soulwax, Jean-Michel Jarre.   I would also love to score a film or TV show with someone one day - I think if the fit was right it would be a dream collaboration scenario as challenging as I know the process can be.
HTM: Speaking of collaboration would you like to shout out your bandmates and their projects?
RL: YEAH!  Okay so Cedric (my dj guy) always has a bunch of shit on the go - Niimo (@prod_niimo) , marquis & the squid , and then he also does a lot of production work for amazing projects like Vince the Messenger and Lxvndr.
And then Joce Reyome (my bassist/harmony singer) who is just an all-round gifted and skilled musician (like seriously I don't think there's anything they can't sing or play).  They write their own material and perform it currently (under their name) but they also play bass and sing for Dylan Menzie and then I believe they do recording session work for all kinds of music projects.
I'm really lucky to have them both involved in the project.  Brilliant humans.
HTM: Do you ever see yourself pulling a Dee Dee King?
RL: I had to google Dee Dee King and I still don't understand the question but if you're asking if I'll ever be a part of an all-dude punk band and then release a rock-rap record the answer is no thank you.
HOWEVER, at some point in my life, I probably will have an existential crisis and subsequently want to explore another facet of my musical inclinations.  I'm just at such an embryonic stage in my career now that I can't think that far ahead yet.
You can find Russell’s music at https://russelllouder.bandcamp.com/ or like most of the other internet music sources.
