The challenge was already two days in and yet his mind was already unraveling itself.

Bo hadn't heard from Percy in two days.

She had sent Mac along with a hand written letter attached to his collar.

'My beloved Southern Tempest,

I regret to inform you that I am locking myself away for a week to keep myself focused. I sent Mac along to keep you company. I can't trust myself to not misbehave around you. As I know how much you love to win games, this is the easiest solution I have and the easiest path to victory. I'll see you in a week's time' - Percy

The letter had been sealed via wax, girl was classy as always. Something was cloying at Bo's nose. He sniffed the letter and just about lost it. She had spritzed it with her favorite pomegranate perfume he had given to her as a gift for her birthday last year. Bo's face flushed, clutching the letter, his hands shaking. He couldn't take this....this was already torture!

A knock at the shops door knocked him out of his haze. "How are you holding up?" Vincent asked, leaning against the counter signing to his twin.

Bo could only manage a growl before pocketing the letter and setting Macavity in his favorite patch of sun in the shop.

"I take it Eleonora's informed you then."

"Yeah. Are you going to be okay?" Vincent silently tilted his head.

"I just got word, Percy has decided to lock herself away until the week is up." Bo shook his head.

Vincent couldn't help but smirk behind his mask as he signed. "You could always forfeit..."

Bo grew enraged. "Baby brother I will be doing no such thing!" He hissed, grabbing his tools and started disassembling the car he had in the shop.

Vincent knew his twin was stubborn as a mule. He didn't know was was eating Bo alive more, not seeing Percy for a week or the lack of touch. Some sadistic part made him happy to see Bo suffer for something. He was bound to break eventually.

Percy was not fairing much better. She cursed herself for using her perfume on that letter, knowing it would drive her Mad Mechanic insane with lust. She had finished two pages with her newest book as she went to go make herself some lunch. She thought about making some lunch for- Bo.

"You're a good girl Percy, you can stay under house arrest for five more days. Five more days and it's all over. Macky can stay with Daddy for five more days, he needs it..." She paced in her living room wanting to cry.

The doorbell ran and Ava was on her porch.

"Hey girly!"

Percy let her in.

"Percy you look like hell, are you okay?" The guitarist asked. Percy had gotten very little sleep due to pushing herself for her book and thinking about Bo.

"No, I'm going mad. I've locked myself away in my house for this game. I can't trust myself to go outside because I know I'll break and run straight to him."

Ava grimaced. "Hey, I'm here to work with you on those songs...you ready?" Percy zoned out for a second. "Percy?"

Coming back to it, Percy nodded and went to get her poetry book. She needed a distraction.

I dunno man, I reckon Macavity gets a really bad rap, the true scapegoat of Andrew Lloyd Weber's Cats. Just listen to those lyrics.

Like, the only thing the other cats know for sure about him is that he's NOT at the scene of a crime. That doesn't sound particularly sinister to me. You can't fault someone for not being around when crimes are happening!

And they play it up all suspicious-like every time he's NOT apparently guilty of something, it's insane! Oooh, you can't even find his paw-prints in Scotland Yard's files! So, what, you're telling me he DOESN'T have a criminal record? Hasn't even been arrested for anything, ever? Sounds like a completely innocent cat who's done nothing wrong to me.

"He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity!" That's entirely normal for a cat!

"You would know him if you saw him, for his eyes are sunken in. His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly domed, his coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed." Okay, so you're telling me that if he DID show up at the scene of a crime, ever, in his life, you have an instantly recognisable mental picture of him that you can use to identify him, but you STILL can't place him at the scene of a crime? Like this guy isn't some sort of anonymous Guy Fawkes mask-wearing shadow, you know EXACTLY what he looks like. Basically what you're describing is a slob, perhaps, or a lout. And to be honest, I probably wouldn't find the time to groom myself properly if I was constantly being treated as a social pariah.

"You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square, but when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there!" Ah okay, so you see plenty of him when there AREN'T crimes occurring? How did you come to the conclusion that this is the guilty party then?

So much of this damn song is just people listing hypothetical crimes that Macavity hasn't been seen doing! And then, and then, they go on to blame him for everyone else's crimes too! "And they say that all the cats whose wicked deeds are widely known... are nothing more than agents" Like, do you not know a smear campaign when you hear it?

Oh but he's been lurking around our Jellicle Ball! Have you considered that he probably wants to join in, since he's also a cat?

Oh but he cat-napped Old Deuteronomy! And what happened then? You say that all the cats called on a Stage-Magician cat who conjured Deuteronomy out of thin air? So everyone ended up blaming Macavity and praising this "Mr. Mistoffelees"? How very convenient. Let me ask you: how did he know where to conjure Deuteronomy from? I reckon we've all been hoodwinked. Macavity is just some socially awkward cat who everyone hates, and the REAL villain is Mr. Mistoffelees, the cat who has a history of cat-napping ("and not long ago, this phenomenal cat produced seven kittens right out of a hat!" - where did those kittens come from??), and even has an illegal monopoly on certain kinds of magic ("for performing surprising illusions, and creating eccentric confusions"), but he gets all the accolades because he's charismatic and makes flashy lights.

Macavity did nothing wrong.

Ok so for the ship au thing Teazer and Alonzo in a fairytale au? Like one of thems a prince/princess?

OOH OK OK

Alonzo is the prince. He's next up to the throne, but doesn't like the whole "I gotta rule the kingdom" thing. He'd much rather be a knight or whatever the adjacent is to detective or something. Teazer is still a thief. But I think she's sort of like Robin Hood-she only steals from the rich, and often steals for the poor and in need.

So one day, neglecting his princely duties, Alonzo goes out to see what he can do about the crime problem in the kingdom.

He meets a cheeky thief who happily introduces herself as Teazer. She's dirty and slightly disheveled, which is a stark contrast to Alonzo, who is very clean and put together. She recognizes him as the prince, and offers for him to come with her and ditch his "high and mighty status" for a bit. He agrees, although it's only to catch some criminals (at least that's what he tells himself lol).

She runs around stealing things, with Alonzo following along, learning things about the criminals in the kingdom, and when the day is done, he returns to the palace. However, instead of reporting his findings and proving himself, he decides to keep going for another day. After all, he's just gathering more evidence....right?

This continues for a while, with Alonzo and Teazer starting to fall in love. Alonzo also starts to understand what her life is like, and that what he thought was a black and white issue wasn't so simple. The things she steals are from people who don't need them, and she gives them to people who really do need them. She also steals food for herself and others.

Then Alonzo's father finds out where he's been and demands him to spill all the info. At first, Alonzo refuses, but after his father starts to belittle him and say rude things, Alonzo tells him.

This leads to Teazer's arrest, as well as some other criminals (her friends). She rightfully feels betrayed, and Alonzo tries to reason with her, but she doesn't listen.

Alonzo steals the keys from the guards and frees all the thieves. The criminals go their separate ways, and Alonzo and Teazer run away. (They leave the kingdom so Alonzo won't get caught) Even though Alonzo is more geared towards following rules and originally wanted to catch thieves, and Teazer is the exact opposite, they figure it out. The solution winds up being that they catch morally evil criminals.

Sequel: They take down Macavity, the strongest and cruelest criminal in the new kingdom they live in.

Alonzo: Munkustrap’s partner (on the force/ in their PI business) who helps him out. He’s Italian in this.

The Rum Tum Tugger a.k.a Romand Tudgle: Hollywood star who shares a past with Munkustrap.

Father Deuteronomy: A priest who shares a past with Munkustrap.

Brenda Del Rose a.k.a The Bombalurina: The famous vivacious bombshell and a singer at The Egyptian. She is part of The Tugger’s entourage.

Alfonzo Quaxo a.k.a The Marvelous Mr. Mistoffelees: A quiet youth who is part of The Tugger’s inner circle and an aspiring magician

Demeter Del Rose: The Bombalurina’s soft-spoken sister who seems to share a past with the Napoleon of Crime.

Jerrie and Teresa: Two members of the Junkyard Jellicles, a relatively harmless gang of youths, that Munkustrap questions

Plato Morell: A senior at the local collage/boys school who seems to have a past with the Napoleon of crime.

Victoria: Plato’s fiancee.

Janice Lorum: A school marm who is very protective of Plato.

Jenny Dots: The no-nonsense and beloved pillar of the community. Served as a nurse during the war and now runs several charities including an orphanage. She has a past with both Munkustrap and The Tugger.

Sam Skimble: Owner of the local railway station.

Estelle “Cettie” Smyhe: The president of the Rum Tum Tugger’s fanclub.

I had a lot of trouble figuring out the particulars of this story. but i had the basis for a few scenes figure out. Like “The Jellicle Ball” was Victoria and Plato’s wedding reception and it had been set up the lure Macavity in so Munkustrap could arrest him. There would be all these revelations about different characters (That I’m not going to spoil here just in case i ever get around to writing it) and it all would have The Maltese Falcon or heavy Film Noir vibes. Like you could see it being a black and white, Golden Age of Hollywood mystery film.

1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Ok, so everything I’m “working on” at the moment is related to my Grad School AU in some way or another. So if you don’t like it.. I’m sorry? x)

- “The Jellicles have a Movie Night” (I’m open to less lame ideas for the title) is the fic that started the Grad School AU. It’s just an ensemble piece where all my main characters get together for a movie night. I started it over two months ago, for a prompt. At some point I abandoned it because I couldn’t find a way to tell the story: I have like half a dozen starts, but I’m hindered by the fact that I don’t really have a plot, just “friends get together for a movie”. I think I’ve finally found a POV that would make it work (wait for me to actually start writing and despair, but I have a good feeling about this one). What I really like about this one is that it kickstarted the Grad School AU, which I love (and is also the reason I’m here, so there’s that), and also it lets me have small scenes for all my characters. The reason I go back to it over and over is because I like those scenes so much.

- “You, Me, Him” is a WIP about the changes in Demeter and Munkustrap’s relationship over the span of a decade. It features some Alonzostrap as a poly background relationship. It’s about two thirds done, but I stopped writing during the dramathon and I haven’t really picked it up since then. I will finish it, I promise, at the very least because @demandra sounded very excited about it. I’m mostly excited to write about a woman discovering her asexuality, and how she still has deep, meaningful relationships. Also, I'm just very attached to my punk/prep duo. <3

And about the ideas that are still just notes scribbled on the margins of my notebook:

- I’m thinking that the Demestrap fic is going to have a second chapter/a companion piece from the perspective of Alonzo. Probably the scene where Munkustrap sits him down and goes “look, I like you a lot, but there is someone very important in my life and if you want to date me you have to be ok with this”. Getting into Alonzo’s head is going to be a challenge, but hopefully a fun one!

- I have this idea of a Bustopher/Jenny story (because I need more Bustopher/Jenny content!!)... Bustopher is Munkustrap’s PhD supervisor (he’s a student in Law) and Munk asks for his help for Demeter, who has been arrested (again). When they get there, Demeter is accompanied by a fellow activist, Jennyanydots. Now I just have to find a PLOT after that point. I take ideas!!

- I’d like to write a Victeazer short. Victoria is just out of high school from a small town, and this daring, loudmouth acrobat is making her question everything she thought she knew about herself...

- Very very fuzzily, there is a revenge fantasy fic where Bombalurina, Demeter and Cassandra make good on the promise they’ve made in the introduction to the “Jellicles have a movie night”, and slash Cassandra’s supervisor’s tires the day after she finishes her thesis. The best part about this? Cassandra’s supervisor is the mashup of every horrible supervisor I’ve ever met, so it’s going to be very satisfying to vicariously slash his tires! (I’m actually thinking of calling him Macavity... you get a feeling of how much I hate him)

I saw cats

And after I saw it I thought I’ll never have to worry about this horrible thing again, but I find myself drawn to it. My mind keeps returning to the jellicle cats. I have many questions. Would Scotland Yard arrest macavity if he was at the scene of the crime? Could old Deuteronomy choose herself to go to the heavy side liar? Do the cats have to get a new chandelier every year for the jellicle ball? I NEED to know what a dog would like in this world. Show us the dogs you cowards!

Detective AU Tuggoffelees

Tugger is a detective looking into the death of a wealthy restauranteur, Bustopher Jones. One of the last people to see him alive was his nephew, Mistoffelees, and Tugger asks him for assistance in solving the case. 

The rest of Mistoffelees’ family, aside from his twin sister, Victoria, are all money-hungry, and could care less about the cause of Bustopher’s death. However, when Bustopher’s will reveals that he left everything he owned to his adopted niece and nephew, the family immediately turns on them. Tugger takes them to his apartment he shares with his partner and closest friend, Plato, and the four decide to investigate further. 

Mistoffelees and Victoria are continuously approached by their relatives, but Tugger and Plato are right behind them to pull them away. The four visit Bustopher’s home to investigate where the body was found, and they find a security tape, which reveals that Mistoffelees had injected Bustopher with something before leaving him, and twenty minutes later, his body was found. 

Mistoffelees insists it was medication for his uncle, and Victoria corroborates his story, and Tugger and Plato look into the family history further. They find a grandson of Bustopher’s named Macavity, who was cast out of the will, but before they can look into him, he turns up with information accusing Mistoffelees of murdering his uncle. 

Tugger, however, has had run-ins with Macavity, so he pretends to go along with his story, arresting Mistoffelees, and sending another officer, either Mungojerrie or Rumpleteazer, to get a confession. It ultimately is revealed that Macavity switched the medication that Mistoffelees gave Bustopher, and that he had also been planning to kill his cousins right before the trial. 

Macavity is arrested, the money is given to Mistoffelees and Victoria, and the story ends with Tugger apologizing for arresting Mistoffelees, and Mistoffelees inviting Tugger in for a cup of coffee.
