Okay, what about more AUs where a Jedi leaves the Order and becomes a Mandalorian because they feel like the Order is too restrictive and caught up in politics or whatever, and then they realize how much they HATE it and how much better the Jedi Order was specifically BECAUSE they have these rules that actually make life so much better overall. Like yeah, sure, the Jedi have to play politics sometimes and that can be frustrating, but look at what happens when everyone is doing whatever they want and fighting for themselves. It's not good. Sure, the Jedi don't allow marriage and children, but look at what happens when certain families are given more power than others just by luck of birth or by which person can beat up someone from the other person's family better. Look at the dynasties and hierarchies it creates and how much conflict comes out of it.
And so they quit being a Mandalorian and go back to being a Jedi because they have seen the light.

I agree with those posts talking abt how annoying it is that people assume the clones would only want to be Mandalorian simply bc Jango Fett, the immoral man who allowed a clone army of himself to be made for nefarious reasons + got to weirdly raise one of his clones as a son, was one. As if that guy gave a single shit abt them. It’s just kinda lazy. Why? What is there to embrace? Besides the language? Warring with/killing each other for no damn reason? Being absolute jerks to anyone considered an outsider? And in general? Ruination? I’m just saying be creative. Mandalorian is the obvious choice but it’s kinda sad.
Also not a huge fan of the Mando-Clone thing. I could kind of understand it if it was a little more restrained than what the fandom's made it out to be. Like if the idea was just that they have a few Mando words in their vocabulary or that their armor designs are roughly inspired by them.
But the idea that the Clones would earnestly consider themselves Mandalorian just because Jango Fett was. When they should all likely be aware by now that Jango actually worked for the Separatists that they're currently fighting against... Is an unlikely development to put it lightly. Especially since Mandalore by this point is led by a pacifistic government and that there are only scattered collections of them left.
Beyond that I've just got to say that the Clones would kick the Mandalorian's behinds if they were ever to go to war. The Mando's have crawled by on having superior weapons and armor for centuries, raising themselves up just to lose, and after that slaughtering each other into near extinction. Their tactics really aren't that great.
If they were ever faced with the Clone Army they'd be crushed by superior tactics and greater comradery. While the Mando's would probably spend the whole time scuffling over who gets to be the next leader.
So yeah, I really don't see what connection the Clones would feel to Mandalorian culture. The only real thing I think would interest them is that they're both warrior cultures of a kind. Even then, the Clones conception of war is radically different.

2, 5, 20 for the ask game🥰🥰🥰
Eyyyy thank you anon!!
2. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Honestly? Jango Fett, and the Mandalorians as a whole.
I didn't have much of an opinion of Jango when I started, except admiring how neatly Mace decapitated him. I don't have much exposure to Legends, either, so I was relying almost entirely on Lucas's canon. Now, though- with Jango Fett being portrayed as a wonderful father and this warring culture being held up as the one that takes in all the poor :( orphaned :( children (hey who made those orphans I wonder), this one that puts such a good and pure emphasis on family- and always being held up as superior to the Jedi- I simply cannot stand them.
I tend to steer clear of fics that have Jango and/or put a lot of emphasis on how amazing Mandalorian culture is. No thank you. I'm a cripple. I have no patience for fetishizing a culture where your worth is entirely determined by how well you can fight.
5. Worst blorboficiation?
Anakin fucking Skywalker.
He's a fascinating character! Absolutely he is! But, notably, he also slaughtered thousands of innocent sentients, was entirely responsible for one massacre and played a key role in another genocide- (I think Palps would've unleashed Order 66 with or without Anakin by his side, but that doesn't change the fact that Anakin willingly helped him.) Reducing him to a wee babe who was stripped of all agency and was merely buffeted by the winds of fate - simply tripping into committing genocide - makes him so much less interesting. Let him have agency! Let him be a horrible murderous bastard! That makes the bits where he's not hit all the harder!
20. Could anyone have fixed Anakin?
No.
Other people have put it much better than I have- @gffa, @antianakin, and @david-talks-sw all come to mind- but... yeah. Not even Ahsoka, regardless of how much Certain People might like to think she could have. But only Anakin could've fixed Anakin- other people could've helped along the way, but he would have needed to choose that path for himself, and he... didn't.
It was there for him. But he chose not to. And that makes his story all the more tragic- that he had every opportunity to choose differently, and instead fucked himself over, again and again and again.

I don’t wanna be one of those party poopers who is constantly comparing distinct and completely different pieces of media to each other but at this point, given the discourse around WGA strike and just my general inclination towards a level of artistic fidelity that I feel most franchise stuff is lacking, I want to address it.
The Mandalorian Season 2 had THREE writers in its writer’s room. Every episode of Mandalorian Season 3 was written by either Favreau or Filoni and it fucking shows. The quality of the show’s writing, even when it does its own voice well, is simply lacking. I get that not everything has to be an HBO dramatic epic but when the plot of the show isn’t revealed until episode 6 of 8, when the show’s most pivotal decision is undone off-screen in a hamfisted spinoff, when the show is more concerned with cinematic universe building than dynamic and expansive worldbuilding that enriches its own narrative potential, it’s truly annoying! It feels like marvel schlock because it’s so anti artistry.
I want to sing Andor’s praises without bringing up the mess that is the modern disney+ landscape but it feels criminal that a show like it got overshadowed by *obi-wan* of all things. Andor HAS that fidelity of storytelling where something isn’t dropped without being picked up, it has things to say and knows where it wants to go. Art is about bravery, it’s about confidence as Taramyn says, and to see the gutless content that gets manufactured in this industry receive platform after platform by - let’s face it, mid white guys - who build their careers off of exploitation and capital greed, it’s genuinely depressing at times. The only consolation is that I KNOW that great art can be made, I see it all the time, I just yearn for it to be seen and desired and recognized by the masses it knows it can uplift.

that last post reminded me that like… one more thing setting Andor apart from other SW is the lack of archetypical, often cartoonish “pirate” characters that are soooo inherent in the franchise and other SFF. The liars, cheaters, scavengers, people who have to scrounge to make a living, the criminals that are in and out of prison, are all… normal people. The main character, Cassian, and the people he knows, like Bix, the Aldhani heist gang. All cheating and lying and thieving because that’s what you have to do in the system sometimes. They’re not mustache twirling buccaneers with hooks and pegs. And we don’t know what the prisoners are in for, some could very well have done those kinds of things, but we don’t know or care, and there aren’t shorthand codes like accents or dialects or appearances that “indicate” that. And yeah, there are characters that cheat and lie that aren’t given much grace, like Nurchi, and there’s definitely a good argument about why that is. And also there’s a lack of alien characters that are often used to fulfill these roles anyway, and that could be worth mentioning. But I mean that the sort of tropes about pirates, meaning people that are scraping by together at the edges of society, usually with characteristics deemed unintelligent, undesirable, and evil… aren’t really found here. They’re just people.
And that’s why I just started laughing at the pirates in the new episode of the mandalorian, because they felt so incredibly unimaginative and insulting to the audience after that other show. And I mean yeah, I love a good pirate character, I love ofmd ffs, and I love other kinds of thieves and bounty hunters in the SW universe itself. anyway that’s beside the point. because we were obviously supposed to consider these ones villainous. and they’re all nonhuman, because of course they are, and their pasts are so vague; they could just have been doing the same kinds of stuff we know from Andor that anybody can be pushed into doing if their circumstances are in dire straits. except they are cartoonishly evil, and we know this not only because they are caricatures of pirates but because they want to… drink in a school for some reason (???). and obviously Greef is different because… he pushed people out of the city and might be stealing and selling land. which is totally different. sure. anyway I’m fine

You guys remember that post like ‘everyday Star Wars fans come on this website and say stuff like ‘Star Wars would be so good if it was actually good’?
Yeah I’m feeling that right about now

I'm genuinely So sad about the path Mando is taking like. I enjoyed some moments of course, but the way they're completely taking the spot light from Din's and Grogu's relationship (which is the literal premise of the show and what got me into it in the first place) to focus on another character we had little to no connection with in the previous seasons, and also make her completely let go of her past goals for what? To become an ambassador of something she wasn't even apart of??? Also completely ignoring her past and turning her into this shallow innocent princess. Sorry for the rant, I'm just really sad about the new season
No dont be! You’re so valid for that and I agree completely :/
A lot of people have already put it into words better but season 3 baring all shitty writing just doesnt feel like The Mandalorian anymore
The main part of the show of din and grogus relationship is just not there anymore, and the fact that we spent two seasons building up these really lovable characters that had so much more potential and places to go and just dulled them into a purely merchandising object and a cardboard cutout yes man is so disappointing
I got into the mandalorian for the characters because I love character driven stories. I can’t care less about bigger plots on their own and the new season being this wide galaxy thing insgead of a funky show where we get to see this guy politely fail to decline every side quest ever and try and take care of his son, I just. Dont care anymore
Like nothing about season 3 feels character focused. Sure bo katan is There but all her flaws and faults that make her an interesting character get brushed under the rug and completely ignored in favor of propping her up to be this sympathetic hero, even though we canonically have evidence of the complete opposite. There is no attempt to even give her character development so when she gets the sabre handed to her Again, the expectation that her rule is going to work this time is just poor writing
Its basically that phrase “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”
I just feel like the writers this season somehow are completely unaware of their characters and how they would act in situations. It feels like they created the plot first are forcing the characters to complete their checklist of wants with complete disregard of whether it makes sense for them to do it at all
Season 2 gave us really wholesome moments between Din and Grogu and I dont think I’m wrong for saying that we all expected the latter to increase as seasons and episodes went by
They clearly understand that we all love Din since they baited us in the promotional material so I literally cannot fathom why they decided to nix the direction they were going to for practically a completely different story
The story of a man who’s trying to find his place in the world and learns to become a father is just not there anymore. And that just… sucks
And well, this probably sounds really nit picky to some or like “why are you so focused on this shlt just enjoy the show and have fun” but when you love the show for two reasons only (din and din and grogus relationship) its very very hard to like something that has so blatantly carelessly pushed that aspect aside. And when you’re not interested in whats happening because the reason you love the show isnt treated well, you kinda start to see all the flaws behind the curtains

I'm so so tired of Mando!Obi-Wan tbh, just let the man be the Ultimate Jedi he has always been meant to be. Toss Anakin to the Mandos, I'm sure he'd LOVE to be a warmongering territorial asshole, it's basically his personality already anyway. Or toss Ahsoka to the Mandos, she's a Jedi-hating "I do what I want" character already, she'll fit right in. But Obi-Wan? Man, Obi-Wan deserves better than to keep getting made into a Mando.

Ngl, it's pretty funny that filoni destroyed the darksaber so no one could challenge bo katan as leader, as if simply fighting it out wasn't a way mandalorians determined leadership, as if there wasn't a time in mando history before the darksaber (seriously, if filoni wants to make it that "the darksaber is the only means of legitimate leadership", he's gonna have to retcon tarre into the first mandalorian, which I would not put past him)

so din becomes a cop at the end 😐 he starts working for the new republic. he… truly would NOT do that but. the writers did that. they made him a fucking cop.
honestly if people genuinely enjoyed the season, i’m happy for them. i’m not going to shame someone for enjoying something, but i wish there was a safe place to properly express my frustration at it without people coming out to defend the horrible writing and characterization. like god forbid that i ACTUALLY have opinions… damn.
making din a landowning cop was just so wrong. like i’m glad he got to settle down with grogu and thank god there’s no dinbo- but the finale felt so. sad. like it just wasn’t as amazing as it could’ve been. sure there were cool moments, but how the writers progressed the plot was anticlimactic and it was just so disappointing. i had so many high hopes for this season and the writers went fuck all and decided to make this season just as marketable as possible. istg we’re gonna start seeing ig-12 and grogu toys with stupid “yes” and “no” buttons. that’s DISGUSTING. and then they brought back ig-11 in the finale. like was his sacrifice NOTHING to you? was his death not enough for you guys to respect him? just because he’s a droid does not mean you can just fuck around with his corpse and bring him back. it’s always “respect the dead” until it’s a droid. blah blah “droids aren’t real people” it’s still borderline if not outright racism.
moff dying was sad. he kinda just stood there as fire exploded around him. i think there could’ve been better ways for him to go. the way he died in the finale left a LOT of opportunities for him to come back (like anakin after mustafar). him crushing the darksaber was also anticlimactic. it happened in half a second. as much as i’m glad the saber is gone, i think we could’ve explored SO much more with it’s lore and it’s force sensitivity or we could’ve seen it used better in action before it had to go.
also what the fuck was that “i’m going to deal with them myself” and then he WAITS and doesn’t appear until AFTER din destroys all his clones and fucks everything up. WHAT WAS HE DOING?? was he just standing there behind the door practicing his big villain monologue? that was stupid.
good for the armorer and bo-katan for their forge ceremony, that was really nice :) also koska fighting was super badass i actually loved the choreography. axe woves my MAN you were cool.
what i didn’t understand was what the hell happened to the sickly people that the armorer brought back up to the fleet. did they just. forget? what happened to them?
there was a scene with plant life growing on mandalore after the purge and it was fucking awful. it was supposed to be all “hopeful” and “meaningful” and they said “they just needed room to grow :)” like BITCH was satine NOTHING TO YOU? you don’t even have to like satine to know that it was utter bullshit and that satine would’ve JUMPED at the opportunity to help grow gardens of indigenous plant life. not just that- but the whole season REFUSED to bring up satine’s name at all. like NOTHING. truly NOTHING. just to erase bo-katan’s horrible past and to make her seemingly all innocent and the one who was being manipulated the whole time. i LOVED bo-katan in the clone wars because she was a horrible person. it made her INTERESTING. but this season just erased that to make her “honorable” and deserving to rule. good for her i guess 😐.
was paz’s death NOTHING to you as well? not even a fucking mention- not even a “your father would’ve been proud” to ragnar. did they never retrieve the body since the base blew up? and also din beating those red dudes with grogu in comparison to paz fighting by himself was so frustrating. paz deserved better.
the whole fandom is being so fucking annoying over “din grogu ahhhhh!!!!” like just CALM down and LISTEN. there are MANY naming conventions in the world. in my culture, incorporating your fathers name into your name is COMMON and completely normal. din’s first name is probably still din, not djarin. it’s not that deep, it’s probably just how their culture refers to clan/apprentices etc. for the love of god it’s not that deep. think outside of your own way of life for a moment. it’s fucking star wars.
i have so many opinions about this season and it’s hard to just put it all out at once. i truly TRULY don’t want to be a hater, but i just can’t help but express my frustration at the writing. i’m glad that SOME people enjoyed it, but i definitely didn’t.
