#mandalorian release date postponed

Note
did you hear the rumor that season 3 might get postponed to April 2023?? I don't want to freak anyone out and I don't how true that is (but the mandalorian's instagram account and the trailer did remove the ''february'' from the release date after all) but if it is... I'm afraid I am gonna drown in the Din Drought before long 😭😭
I’ve heard this same thing, though I hadn’t heard about April specifically! Honestly, I’m not that upset. I’d rather have a higher quality than have it get rushed out.
What’s frustrating, however, is telling us that we’re getting it in February almost a year in advance and then changing it. Don’t provide a specific release window if you’re not certain you can meet the deadline. This has happened with Obi-Wan, TBB, Andor, and now Mando. 😭

More questions raised regarding Sandman debut
The entertainment site Bleeding Cool is reporting that DC Comics has postponed plans to release a facsimile edition of Sandman #1, which was going to be released in April. No new publishing date has been announced.
Why this is relevant to my blog is several Sandman reissues were being planned as tie-ins to the debut of The Sandman TV series on Netflix (in which Jenna Coleman plays a supporting role as Johanna Constantine). Bleeding Cool’s article speculates that this may be an indication that the debut of the series has been pushed back. Filming on the series began in late 2020, with Jenna reportedly filming her role in either late 2020 or early 2021 (though she may have filmed more later; her casting wasn’t announced until months later). Production of the first season reportedly wrapped late in 2021.
Since then a release date has yet to be announced, despite series shot around the same time such as Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones prequels having their release dates announced. At one point, IGN reported an early June 2022 release, but after showrunner Neil Gaiman denied it, that date was quietly deleted from the story.
Other than that “false start” the only official word is that it will be released at some point in 2022. A teaser trailer of sorts was released a while ago, but as of the end of March nothing by way of a full trailer has been released and there has as yet been no circulation of images or footage of Jenna. Jenna is bound by an NDA so other than acknowledging she’s in it, she hasn’t said anything else about it; there were some hopes she might have given some hints at her North American convention appearances a couple of weeks ago, but she ended up cancelling her appearances so we have to wait a little longer.
Clearly it won’t be released in the spring. Perhaps a release date will be announced at the San Diego Comic Con in July. Why they’re leaving it so late when the LOTR and Thrones series have already been announced is a quandary; there’s been little by way of buzz about the show’s production so if there have been issues requiring reshoots or other delays, we don’t know. To be fair, in the C19 era film and TV production is not as predictable as it used to be*, though other shows like The Mandalorian (which just wrapped) as well as LOTR and Thrones appear to have had no problem. Gaiman, for his part, has already moved on to another series altogether that began filming in Scotland a couple weeks ago.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait until 2023 to see The Sandman (especially if Jenna’s part ends up being minor), but at this point I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it’s been pushed back to the new year.
EDIT: By way of example, Season 3 of The Orville was all set to debut on Hulu in the US in March, but only a couple weeks before it was pushed to June, with C19-related delays on other shows being blamed for it. So any delays in announcing a release of The Sandman may be totally unrelated to anything involved with its production. The episodes may have been sitting around for months, all set to go.

Rogue Squadron Delayed: Will There Ever Be a New Star Wars Movie?
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
One of the three Star Wars movies officially in active development, Rogue Squadron, has been delayed.
According to THR, the Patty Jenkins-directed project was set to begin pre-production later this year and go in front of cameras sometime in 2022. But now, per the outlet, the project is being put on the back burner because of other commitments on the part of Jenkins. It’s not clear if writer Matthew Robinson will stay attached to the movie.
The unsourced quote that is sure to raise a few eyebrows is this one: “The hope is that once Jenkins fulfills her previous commitments, she will be able to return to the project.” (Italics added)
So in other words, there’s a reasonable chance that if Rogue Squadron does eventually take flight, Jenkins — who told Disney fans and investors back in 2020 that she wanted it to be the “greatest fighter pilot movie ever made” — won’t be in the cockpit. Jenkins’ other commitments include Wonder Woman 3 — which is confirmed to be in development — and a new take on Cleopatra, both of those involving star Gal Gadot.
The third standalone outing for Diana of Themyscira is currently in the works, with classic TV Wonder Woman Lynda Carter confirmed to return as Asteria, despite the tepid critical and fan response to last year’s Wonder Woman 1984, which Warner Bros. Pictures released simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters during last winter’s pandemic surge. It’s likely that Jenkins will turn her attention to Wonder Woman 3 next.
The bigger issue is that with the postponement of Rogue Squadron — which, for now, is keeping its December 22, 2023 release date, although release dates were made to be abandoned — Disney and Lucasfilm do not have any other Star Wars theatrical features firmly on the release schedule. And there hasn’t been a new Star Wars movie in theaters since The Rise of Skywalker crashed and burned in December 2019.
We haven’t heard much about new Star Wars adventures reportedly being developed by both Marvel kingpin Kevin Feige and Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi. Neither movie has a confirmed release dates, although scripts are currently being written. Meanwhile, a whole trilogy of films allegedly being developed by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has all but vanished. Another fresh saga once slated to be spearheaded by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss also went down the memory hole when the pair parted ways with the studio.
This all leaves the movie side of Star Wars in an uncertain place. It may very well be five or six years before we’re back in theaters watching a new installment set in the galaxy far, far away — and that’s if Waititi’s and/or Feige’s movies even get off the ground…
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
If Jenkins does not in fact return to try her luck with the Star Wars universe, she can at least take comfort in joining some elite creative company. Meanwhile, said universe is thriving on the small screen, with The Book of Boba Fett, season 3 of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and Ahsoka all in the pipeline, while this Friday’s (Nov. 12) Disney+ Day may unveil more new projects on the way.
Check out the full schedule of upcoming Star Wars movies and TV series here.

NBCUniversal’s Peacock launches on Comcast tomorrow
NBCUniversal’s new streaming service Peacock is launching for Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex customers tomorrow, April 15, at no additional cost.
Comcast says the rollout to its platforms begins tomorrow and will complete by month-end.
The launch is still happening according to the schedule that the company announced in January, which pointed to a broader launch on July 15. NBCUniversal says that’s still happening, though the launch will no longer coincide with the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Comcast subscribers will get access to Peacock’s premium tier, which it says will include an on-demand library of more than 15,000 hours of TV and movies, including “30 Rock,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Yellowstone,” “Law & Order” and its various spinoffs, “Jurassic Park” and “Shrek.” It will also include early access to NBC’s late night shows “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon and “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
When the service launches more broadly in July (which is also when it launches on mobile), there will be a free tier with roughly half as much content. If you pay for Peacock Premium separately, it will cost $4.99 per month with ads, or $9.99 per month without ads.
Like every streaming service, Peacock will eventually feature original programming, including reboots of “Battlestar Galactica,” “Punky Brewster” and “Saved by the Bell.” The release dates for some of Peacock’s original programming may be delayed, however, as the COVID-19 pandemic has shut down productions worldwide. But Peacock Chairman Matt Strauss told reporters today that a few of its series are on track for 2020, including the “Psych” movie, “Brave New World,” and both “Punky” and “Saved by the Bell.”
Strauss added that he remains “very optimistic” about Peacock’s prospects, thanks to “a vast library of content that we know is going to resonate.” (Lest this seem like merely putting a brave face on a tough situation, it’s worth noting that Disney+ recently passed more than 50 million subscribers despite — “The Mandalorian” aside — a relatively limited slate of originals.)
“What’s postponed to 2020 will come back to us, even bigger, in 2021 —when Peacock will, arguably, really be hitting its stride,” Strauss said.
Dana Strong, president of consumer services at Comcast Cable, also noted that “viewing on every dimension of our platform is up during this period,” with a year-over-year increase of two hours per day per household, as well as a 50% increase in video-on-demand viewing.
And while Comcast (as NBCUniversal’s parent company) makes sense as the initial cable partner for Peacock, Strauss said, “We see an opportunity to do similar bundling deals with other distributors.”
NBCUniversal will break the theatrical window to release ‘The Invisible Man’ and other movies on-demand
