Sharp Objects Contest!
Bring home Sharp Objects today as the eight-episode limited series, based on Gillian Flynn’s (Gone Girl) bestselling novel of the same name, is now available for Digital Download, and comes to Blu-ray™ and DVD on November 27th. Starring five-time Oscar®-nominee Amy Adams (Arrival), the “haunting and riveting” (The Hollywood Reporter) series is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (HBO’s “Big Little Lies”) and created by Marti Noxon (“Dietland”). The Digital Download, Blu-ray™ and DVD will include an exclusive, never-before-seen feature showcasing the creation of the fictional town of Wind Gap.
Set in a small town in southern Missouri, Sharp Objects follows troubled journalist Camille Preaker (Adams) as she returns home to investigate the murder of a preteen girl and the disappearance of another. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
While Adams delivers a “ferocious” (Vox) performance, the “incredible cast...” (Salon) also includes Oscar®-nominee Patricia Clarkson (“House of Cards”), Chris Messina (“The Mindy Project,” Argo), and newcomer Eliza Scanlen. The series is executive produced by Marti Noxon, Jean-Marc Vallée, Amy Adams, Gillian Flynn, Jason Blum, Nathan Ross, Charles Layton,  Jessica Rhoades,  Gregg  Fienberg, Marci  Wiseman, and Jeremy Gold. Also written by Marti Noxon, Gillian Flynn, Scott Brown, Dawn Kamoche, Ariella Blejer, and Vince Calandra.

Blumhouse Television's Supernatural Thriller RUN FOR YOUR LIFE Gets TV Pilot Order
New Post has been published on https://nofspodcast.com/run-for-your-life-blumhouse-series-pilot/
Blumhouse Television's Supernatural Thriller RUN FOR YOUR LIFE Gets TV Pilot Order
Blumhouse Television is currently working on a tv pilot for the supernatural thriller Run For Your Life. The series will take place on the last night of Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), follows a grieving detective who is thrust into a deadly game to bring someone back from the grave. Currently included in the cast are Arrow‘s Josh Segarra and Andrew Jacobs of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Writing duo Chris Cullari and Jennifer Raite (12 Deadly Days) have also signed on to pen the script and co-executive produce. Patricia Riggen (The 33) will direct the pilot with Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Marci Wiseman and Jessica Rhoades as executive producers for Blumhouse.
As we’ve seen with many Blumhouse titles, the project is a co-production between the television camps of both Blumhouse and Universal. No information yet on where and when you can expect to see Run For Your Life, but if all goes well with the pilot, you might have two Blumhouse TV shows to DVR very shortly. As horror fans already know, Blumhouse has announced the upcoming The Purge series. Set to premiere alongside The Purge 4 in 2018, the series will tell the story of how The Purge effects American life throughout the other 364 days of the year. While I am waiting eagerly for The Purge series, I can not cross my fingers harder in hopes that Run For Your Life is ordered-up for a full season. I have been absolute obsessed with Dia de Los Muertos since the release of Boys in the Trees and this series sounds like a spooky good time.
Boys in the Trees (currently available on Netflix)
Full details on casting (via Deadline):
Josh Segarra (Arrow) is set to star as Julian Silva alongside Andrew Jacobs (Paranormal Activity: Marked Ones) as Victor Macias, Carlos Leal (The Last Ship)as Yellow Skull, Danube Hermosillo (Everything, Everything) as Lia Macias, Angela Alvarado (Kingpin) as Elena Macias, Jennifer Landon (Animal Kingdom) as Detective Rachel Spokes, Kadeem Hardison (K.C. Undercover) as Captain Gilbert “Gil” Barnes and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside Me) as Mariana Silva.

FAIRFIELD, CALIF. - Solano Community College, the Solano Community College Scholarship Foundation and the Solano Community College Educational Foundation awarded 66 students with scholarships totaling nearly $40,000 on Oct. 3.
In an scholarship ceremony held at the Solano Community College Student Center, 4000 Suisun Valley Road in Fairfield, awards were given to students who had reached academic achievement or demonstrated potential for excellence in various fields. Many students received multiple scholarships ranging from general awards to aid benefitting veterans, future nurses and transfer students. Award amounts varied based on earnings from the college’s endowed scholarships fund.
Solano’s current enrollment fee is $46 per unit for California residents ($211 per unit for non-residents). Seven out of every 10 of the nearly 11,000 students at SCC receive some form of financial aid and 50 percent of SCC’s student body is from very low income households. Solano’s classes are held during two semesters each year (spring and fall), pus summer sessions. Flexible scheduling, designed for students’ convenience, includes day, evening and Saturday classes, held on and off the campus, and via the Internet, television, home study and travel study. Short-term classes, open-entry/open-exit formats and special interest workshops and seminars add to this scheduling flexibility.
With the current student population of 11,000 almost evenly divided between day and evening, the Solano College campus is alive at all hours offering academic study and occupational training to all area residents.  Solano College offers over 80 degrees and more than 50 certificates in addition to transfer degrees to the California State University and the University of California systems. ‘Billions’ Recap 2x07: Dirty Money
You can’t swing a gatefold Dark Side of the Moon album cover without hitting a TV music cue meant to BLOW YOUR MIND these days. What a joy it was, then, to stumble across a needle-drop on Billions meant to do nothing more and nothing less than make you crack up? The honor goes to “Sex and Candy,” the ‘90s alt-pop staple from Marcy Playground that turned lust into something that sounded sleepy and skeezy and, well, smelly. In that sense, it’s perfect for the sex scene it soundtracked: a poolside oral tryst between the Axelrods’ skeezebag personal chef and his tattooed lady friend. But did Billions start the song when it first cut to these two hardbodies getting it on? Hell no—those first “only ‘90s kids will remember” notes rang out, incongruously and ironically, over Chuck Rhoades and his son Kevin and their football, posing for the all-American photo shoot intended to launch his political career. The moment I recognized it I started literally lol’ing. Deflating Chuck’s pretensions to righteousness and segueing into the show’s filthiest romp so far this season (Wags’s tattooed ass notwithstanding)? Take fucking notes, Legion and Stranger Things—that’s how music direction is done.
And as far as the kind of “the part stands in for the whole” moments that we TV critics can’t get enough of, it’s almost too good to be true. Directed by John freaking Singleton and written by Alice O’Neill and series co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien, “Victory Lap” is the episode in which this extraordinarily, improbably entertaining season of Billions rips off the capitalism scab to reveal the exploitation pus beneath.
I reviewed this week’s Billions, maybe the best of its very strong season so far, for the New York Observer. Okay, so Legion was still irritating me, but that aside this had one of the most gut-level upsetting story turns I’ve seen in a long while. Great stuff.
