Two years dead and everyone arounds you act as if it was your fault, as if you coming back to life disrupted their mourning.
And I get i, I get it. But to Shepard, it was only a few weeks. They were lost in space in anguish from the pain of choking as their lungs burned. The vacuum of space sucking whatever life left out of their beating heart as their final moment before their eyes closed.
Then they open them and find themselves on a medical bed. Two years passed in a blink, a second to them. Their body is the same, except for a few missing scars. Everything about them is the exact same as if they were plucked out of space during that moment and thrown two years ahead into the future.
But everyone else has changed, moved on. And no one wants to explain themselves, close friends treating them like strangers, news mentioning their name as one of the past legends, left to collect dust in the history books and memorials.
Like crashing their own funeral just when everyone else was done crying, and people feel upset at you for somehow beating the odds and surviving. Then it's Immediately back to duty, you don't even get to announce the fact you're alive again publicly. It gets spread in rumours and witness accounts.
And no one acknowledge how lonely it must have been to die surrounded by friends, knowing at least you died for them to survive. Only to wake up alone and remain alone, for everyone you've known died, or changed beyond recognition.

I would've followed you anywhere, Commander. Thinking you were gone... it was like losing a limb.

HI HI HI! I haven’t played Mass Efecto so I was wondering how Liara’s romance is like! Since in Dragon Age the storylines vary per character and each romance has a different dynamic/tropes :3
Is she sweet and trusting with the mc from the start or do you have to trigger a few scenes before she starts to truly open up? How is the first romance scene once you go past friendship like?
Oh my god so. Liara is. Almost immediately incredibly, embarrassingly gay for the player. Like, it’s so obvious she has a crush very quickly. In one of your first conversations with her she makes a comment about wanting to study you, then immediately backpedals when she realizes how it sounds. She can also (try to) start flirting pretty early too. And then after a Certain Plot Event involving her she just, comes right out with her feelings. It’s honestly really endearing. Justice describes her when she has a crush as being “cringe.”
Also, this isn’t super relevant to what you asked and is kind of spoilery but I think is important to give you the full picture of Liara feelings: when Shepard dies at the beginning of Mass Effect 2, regardless of whether you romanced her or not, it’s Liara who worked tirelessly to recover their body, and it was her that got them to Cerberus, even though she knew they were human supremacists, just because they were the only ones that had a chance of bringing them back. So to some degree she kind of just loves you no matter what, whether you want to read that as explicitly romantic or not.

I always wondered what they called Garru's originally in ME2. By this I mean Archangel is a human concept from human culture and many of the other cultures would have no idea what an archangel even is. Sure you could argue that maybe it was a human who names him but we are never told explicitly. You could also mention how in turian religion there's the concept of Spirits as abstract concepts being revered so maybe without a universal translator his name would be something like "Spirit of Justice" but we also don't know if he was named after a turian concept even tho he is a turian, for all we know it could have been a word from one of the most prominent species in Omega

I played mass effect two
Ok but Mordins view on morality and such is so interesting. Like, I can see where he's coming from, but he rationalises things in such interesting ways. He has such strong morals but at the same time, well.
Im afraid for mass effect 3. I've heard scary things.

These Shadow Broker dossiers on the companions are amazing
The Illusive Man fucks like a champ, Grunt has read Hemingway, Jack writes poetry??? Also I feel so gross and invasive for learning about Miranda's infertility behind her back, I'm going to do the nice thing and not let her know I know if she reveals it to me during her loyalty mission

I don't think I've ever mentioned it, but the first time I ever played Mass Effect 3 I did the full playthrough without Garrus. I managed to save everyone on the Suicide Mission in ME2 blind except Garrus, and I didn't realize until a few days after the game launch that Garrus could survive the suicide mission. It was a very confusing experience that I pretty much rushed through because I wanted to replay the second game and fix my mistake. It's also why I think I'm a bit frustrated that there aren't more companions from ME2 in that game, because the phantom memory of a playthrough without BOTH Garrus and Javik still exists as a spectre of horror deep in my soul even after the memories have largely faded into the abyss.

Catch me thinking about Pressly surviving the beginning of Mass Effect 2
(His VA is Dwight Schultz, so I've always mourned the fact we never got more of him bc Dwight is legit one of my favorite actors)
Somehow he survives (insert bs reason) and Cerberus grabs his body. I'd like to think they'd be cruel and use the outdated information from when he wasn't fan of the non-human crew to maybe see if a human body could stand being conjoined with non-human appliances.
I'd like to think he ends up a little bit like Tuvix, his body gaining bits and pieces of turian traits (elongated body, spikes forming at his elbows and trailing up the back of his head, his voice double-toned), and for a while he's horrified at what he's become.
Then Shepard finds him (read kills the scientists in said lab he's fished out from while Garrus helps get the man free) and whisks him away on the Normandy. The Illusive Man tries to push off the furious questions thrown his way, but relents when Shepard threatens to fly off and abandon everything if he doesn't give information/equipment to help make sure Pressly will be alright. The few from the original crew are happy to see he's alive, and don't seem to be disgusted by what he's become.
Shepard sits with him at night/whenever they're not off on a mission, and it doesn't take long for Pressly to break and tell Shepard what he's been through.
"I'm a monster."
"No, you're my friend, no matter what they've done to you."
The conviction never wavers, not from Shepard and not from the crew, and Pressly slowly begins to poke around the Normandy once Chakwas has been assured about 100 times that yes he'll be fine for a few minutes. After helping the Normandy navigate a battle, slipping into his old role before he's even noticed, Pressly starts to hang around the ship more and more, as if that little bit of control over his life was like flipping a switch. After the Collector base and the Batarian relay, Pressly is kept with Shepard on Earth, more so to prevent the Commander from going on a rampage when dozens of doctors want to study the man, who is decidedly terrified of the idea.
I am just in the ME Thoughts again :,)

What if they had to do paperwork?
(Unlike the other comics this doesn't actually happen in any of the games I'm just a fan of how dumb they all are)

Wednesday, November 8.
Mass Effect fanart.
Yesterday was November 7, known to Mass Effect fans as N7 Day. Today, as you may have discerned, is November 8. And so, we thought to ourselves, why not celebrate N7 on N8 and stretch out the celebrations for another 24 hours? It's crazy, sure—but it might just be crazy enough to work.
Voila. Hey presto. Here's some #mass effect fanart. You deserve it, quite frankly.

domestic life 1 and 4 for whoever u like 🐈‍⬛
These were making me think of Liara so I gave them to her!
1. If they get married, who proposes?
They’re not married married, but they do share a very close bond very similar to a marriage. I do think Liara might broach the topic and they’d discuss getting legally married, too. Not sure if either of them would propose as much as they’d just… agree to get married then.
4. Do they have any pets?
They have a space rabbit - because if there’s space hamsters, surely there are space rabbits too. She is named Marie Curie, and she is a little black rabbit that lives in Liara’s office (the one that used to belong to Miranda). Sometimes Liara takes her out to have some time on her desk while she’s working, and so her Shadow Broker contacts will sometimes get an inexplicable keysmash message from bunny on the keyboard.
