VHSCC OH MY GOD
(no spoilers)
Starkid nation, you aren't ready.
So let's start with the obvious. Look, I spent thirteen years growing up with Starkid. That initial Michigan gang are deeply special to me and I will always miss Dylan, Brian R., and Corey in any show they aren't in. And this one's no different. But just as Janaya came in and took over Belle from Britney so flawlessly, Curt, Brian, and AJ were all WONDERFUL in their new roles. The gentle-but-high-energy, truly decent, romantic himbo charm Curt brought to our Springsteen boy Jim (you all are going to LOVE Jim, I promise) perfectly offset the defiant, sneering anger of Young Scrooge in "That Scrooge." Brian's reactions (particularly to the "rather take my own life" line) were so funny and some of my favorite parts of the show. And AJ... this is now my favorite thing AJ has ever done. And that's saying something. The smaller casting shake-up moments (Joey as Fezziwig, other little line re-distributions) were so fun as well!
The new act 1 is PERFECTION. I was actually surprised by how absolutely hysterical it was? Like, I won't tell you what was up with that clip on Instagram of Brian, Lauren, and Joey doing a freak-out dance, but I can tell you that their whole Act 1 deal threatened to steal the show every. Single. Time. I already mentioned Curt as Jim, but you will also love Della, who is so funny and real and truly carries us through the start of the show (Janaya is a STAR and she Curt have brilliant chemistry). Ali did a terrific job of balancing the sadness and hope that are both at the center of the devastating little Match Girl. And Jamie's Grandma... well, honestly I have no idea how to talk about Jamie's song without giving stuff away.
But the real star of the show in Act 1, as he should be, was our man Clark. I can't emphasize enough how much he nailed the writing of this whole new act. I mentioned that the new stuff is hilarious, but it's also deeply heartfelt, and also sad exactly when it needs to be. Like, the transition after Jamie's song? I can't really talk about it yet, but what that moment does with emotion is unreal. And, as expected, every song is a banger! My one complaint about this show, and it IS a big one, is that there is no cast recording of the Act 1 songs. I want to listen to them all the time.
But the good news is, I CAN listen to Christmas Carol as much as I want! The classic that started it all is back, with so many people reprising the hell out of their truly iconic roles (God I love the VHS Cratchits), and better than ever. I traditionally hate change, and I love the version of VHSCC Live! we already have so much, but I think I somehow loved this version even more? The staging is alive and clever and there are some additions and changes, particularly in "Final Ghost"/"Christmas Day," that frankly blew my mind and somehow managed to elevate the material even further. I can't wait for the digital ticket to come out so that I can talk about them. To put it simply, James Tolbert mastered his Starkid directorial debut like you won't believe. I'm so proud of him and grateful for the larger role he's taken in Starkid since they moved base to LA.
Also, the Ghost of Christmas Past is extra unhinged this year? Jaime pulled out all of the impish stops and it was the BEST.
Basically, everyone more than delivered. I haven't talked about Meredith yet but she rocked it in the band and continued to validate the hell out of my opinion that "3 Spirits" is the dark horse best song in the show.
And a special shout-out to June Saito for continuing to be a costuming GENIUS. I always love her work and this production is no exception. I honestly wanted to give the return of the Bob Cratchit costume its own round of applause.
You know, the world is a mess and everything is pretty much terrible. It's been a hard year in an impossible decade. But every once in a while you come across some art that takes all of that, acknowledges the truth of it, and somehow pulls back the curtains to harness the joy and hope that's still there under the rubble. To me, Starkid in particular has always been about finding and holding onto the hope and the beauty and humanity that allows us to endure an existence that can so often feel bleak. And VHSCC is maybe the most perfect encapsulation of that idea.
So thank you Clark, James, Meredith, Brian, and everyone who worked so hard on this little bit of magic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Let's make a little light.

Hello! I'm really curious, what books/authors would you recommend to someone who's new to writing horror?
Tumblr media
Hi! Here is what I have on hand (minus my loaned out copies of my favorite book ever Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones and Never Whistle At Night: an indigenous anthology of dark fiction which made me cry on an airplane and made the person next to me very uncomfortable, like she was just trying to build a cart at banana republic, apologies to seat 17B)
God’s Cruel Joke Lit Mag because I’m in them and will be in issue 4, too :) published either mid-January or February 2024– @labyrinthphanlivingafacade is in issue 3 with a great short story that I won’t spoil ***right now the magazines are available to purchase in physical copies but I was told all issues will be free to download as pdfs pretty soon!
Severance by Ling Ma (body horror but not in the way you think, the real horror is repetition and loneliness)
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (body horror)
The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis (adjacent the horror genre but a hell of a read)
ANYTHING BY STEPHAN GRAHAM JONES ANYTHING
We Have Always Lived in a Castle by Shirely Jackson (I read this for the first time last spring boy howdy, I also included The Lottery for its suspense)
Dean Koontz because my husband suggested it for the list— this was just the first title I grabbed, I think he said Patrician Crowell too but I was busy looking for Mongrels
A Good and Happy Child by Justin Evans (I didn’t finish this because depression set in shortly after I started but the first chapter plays with second pov which I really liked, I’m determined to read it this year)
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (I really enjoyed HBO’s adaptation)
The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R. Carey (likely the only zombie stories that made me weep uncontrollably)
Girls & Sex by Peggy Orenstein (non-fiction: explores modern young women navigating sexuality and because I have a thing for loss of autonomy— it’s been a few years since I read it but there is discussion of sexual assault, but I appreciate the expanse of her research and even included a conversation with someone who is asexual)
Black Leopard Red Wolf by Marlon James (got a chill just typing this out— the audio book is exquisite)
You’ll notice some nonfiction because, as a historian undergrad, nothing scares me more than man. The battles of Leningrad and Stalingrad are particularly stomach churning. America’s Reconstruction Era is full of acted out malice and under taught in my opinion.
An Indigenous People’s History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
The 900 Days, The Siege of Leningrad by Harrison E. Salisbury
Enemy at the Gates by William Craig
(On the other side of WW2 I have a book of the experiences of German solider’s left over from a paper I wrote on the inadequacy of Nazi uniforms and how it expedited their failure in Russia, Frontsoldaten by Stephen G. Fritz)
Stony the Road by Henry Louis Gates, Jr (one of my favorite authors, try finding “How Reconstruction Still Shapes American Racism” Time Magazine, April 2, 2019, I used it as a source for a paper on the history of voting rights)
Bloodstoppers and Bearwalkers— folk tales of Canadians, Lumberjacks & Indians by Richard M. Dorson (published around 1952 but content collected from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the 40’s)
Raven Tells Stories: An Anthology of Alaskan Native Writing (I’m Alutiiq and the museum on Kodiak has a lot of stories recorded under Alutiiq Museum Podcast— my kids and I listen on Spotify)
I think the genre of horror is really mastering tension and playing on peoples fears which is why I included old school folk stories (An Underground Education had a great write up on the Grimm Brothers and the original fairy tales from around the world such as the Chinese and Egyptian Cinderella, as well as several different sections of funny tales, torture techniques, absolute weirdos etc etc) in this vein of thought The Uses of Enchanment: The Meaning and Importance of Fairy Tales by Bruno Bettelheim could prove to be useful
If you’re writing a character with Bad Parents— Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and Toxic Parents (it has a longer subtitle but I don’t see my copy anywhere) might be able to help you shape character traits
I reached out to @littleredwritingcat who has a mind plentiful in sources who recommended
The Gathering Dark: an anthology of folk horror (I will be picking this one up asap)
Toll by Cherie Priest (southern gothic)
Anything by Jennifer MacMahon
The Elementals by Michael McDowell

SMOKE AND SWEAT!
HARD TO EXERCISE REGULARLY WHEN YOU SMOKE CIGARETTES! (WITH A HOT BONUS VIDEO, TOO)
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ | Four-and-a-Half "Stars"
From Juniorjunior (SFK) | ★★★★★+ (2 videos: L)
Staring Courtney (warmup suit) and friend Missy (sleeveless); Aleah in 'bonus' clip!
Multi-Media 9-Pack
Most BSWs who get regular exercise in within their habitual smoking throughout the day would light-up after their workout ends. Not these two Smoking Machines, Courtney (left) and friend Missy: Smoke and exercise; exercise and smoke!
. . . no offense but they really DO have it backwards! The post-workout cigarette can be lit-up within seconds of the last accelerated heartbeat from the workout. And, to be fair, and realistic, some exercise-conscious BSWs probably snub-out their cigarette within the final 30 seconds before starting their fitness, stress-relieving routines. But during? Really? Perhaps. At least they weren't doing shots of Tequila during the glorified sit-ups! Sure some working-out smokers do it in the inimitable Courtney-Missy way shown here. But that's a minority. Scarcely anyone, really. Our Blonde Bombshell often thought outside the box and acted in that unconventional way as well. She "talked the talk" and, for our purposes in the Greater SF World Community, she "smoked the smoke," too. Courtney was never bashful at joining in with another hot, young smoker for a shoot for Specialized Videos (Michigan, U.S.A.) web-master/web producer Scott. Fact is, she thrived in those videos and often stole the scenes with her beauty, charm, silliness (nervous laughter, chuckling) and bubbly, delightful personality. This smoking-exercise clip is no exception. Courtney developed a working and personable rapport with the others from Scott's deep stable of SF models and actresses because that's who she is. Believe she was friendly with Missy before their days with Specialized Videos. Courtney had group (tandem) scenes with others as well. Many SF aficionados believe that Courtney rates as one of the prettiest SF models ever. Clearly she is a Smoking Goddess; arguments can be made that she is an SF Hall of Famer. She was No. 5 in the unofficial "official" Top-25 all-time favorite SF models list on vs120shound published in January 2023. A typical rating of her beauty on the traditional Bo Derek "1 to 10" scale would be an 8.5-9.0 score, we postulate. With the right makeup and clothes, mood and lighting by Scott, she easily scored a 9.5 at times. In the video from vs120shound-2 with Aleah -- for the first half-minute starting while she is waiting on Aleah to light-up her Marlboro 100s cigarette and continuing with Aleah's first drag and exhale and finishing with Coutney sparking-up her Salem 100 -- Courtney reached the pinnacle of her gorgeousness among her shoots with Specialized Videos. If she isn't a 10.0 here, then perhaps no woman is deserving of a 10.0 rating. Hey, (cliché) "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and we're sure there are plenty out there among us SF fans, friends and followers whose opinion of Courtney's looks are, "hey she's attractive, nothing special." Yet to meet any of those folks . . . if they actually -- and not hypothetically -- exists within our lot. Added in mid-July 2023. Thanks to Juniorjunior of Smoking Fetish Kingdom for posting the two videos used in this post. Juniorjunior gets the credit for the authentic posting on SFK (photo credits are below).

And Aleah joins Courtney in our bonus video featured on "The Deuce" (vs120s-2). Spoiler alert: Courtney might not have appeared any more appealing on Specialized Videos than she does on the clip directly below:
Courtney never looked hotter, with her Salem 100s!
And to the other medium (still photography) on this Multi-Media 9-Pack. Here are six other photos of her in addition to the Centerpiece picture directly above the box advertising our bonus video:

Why so angry? NYTs OP ED author info. Hi Skippy & Friends-Pilgrim here with some info on this highly opinionated writer who IMO is not a student of history. Instead, she finds it easier to eloquently state, in perfect grammar, big fabrications to fit her very angry drift. Talk about “influencer” of the day! Roxane Gay is from Omaha, NE, born in 1974 and is of Haitian descent in a well off family who supported her through college and paid her rent until she was 30. She was a high school student at the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy in NH; undergraduate for a while at Yale; graduate from Vermont College; a master’s from Univ of Nebraska-Lincoln; PhD from Michigan Tech. University; finally becoming a professor at Purdue and visiting prof at Yale.
She is 6'3" and obviously has a very big health problem. This photo was taken at U.S.C. Oct, 16, 2021. In 2018, she revealed she had a sleeve gastrectomy which helps one lose weight.
She is bisexual and is married to writer Debbie Millman.
She is a favorite award winner for her edgy subject matter. In May of 2019, Gay and Medium media launched Gay Magazine. The list of her writing and editorial projects is long. That is why, as I was trying to slog thru the obnoxious Op Ed from the New York Times, I was shocked to see her highly educated background.
We learned when PinEvil produced her Op Ed on her so-called miscarriage these are PAID for pieces. They are on the opposite page of their Editorial page and are up for grab$$$.
What is sad is she seems to be really intelligent. How she was swayed by the Harkles is a big question. Are they part of this community? There have been hints about both of the Harkles over the years for their leanings/preferences.
So tired of the Harkles media onslaught while there was a whisper they are off yachting in the Bahamas presumably for some R & R after all their hard work.
Wonder how the daily press reviews are received out there…choppy conditions? Chilly off-shore breeze?
Thank you for researching her for us!  Interesting ❤️

Republicans, Fear the Young
Nov. 19, 2022Seventy percent of the younger electorate in Pennsylvania voted for John Fetterman.Quinn Glabicki/Reuters
By John Della Volpe
Mr. Della Volpe is the director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics.
Stressed and sickened by thoughts of their rights and democracy slipping away, young Americans across gender, racial, geographic and education lines banded together last week to help save the Democrats from what many foresaw as a sizable midterm defeat. If the elections had been decided by voters 45 and older, Republicans would have won the House by an even greater margin and likely taken the Senate. But thanks to young voters (especially the 18-to-29 age group, which had the second-highest turnout in midterm elections in almost 30 years, according to early estimates from Tufts University), Democrats retained the Senate, showing that an alliance of Gen Z and millennial voters answered history’s call to defend democracy. The majority of them rejected the big lie. They possess the turbulent, kinetic energy that withstands red waves. They will propel Democrats’ progressive agenda forward if the party seizes the moment.
In 2018, young voters were key to Nancy Pelosi regaining the speaker’s gavel. In 2020, millennials and members of Gen Z were instrumental in moving Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin into Joe Biden’s column, thus relegating Donald Trump to a one-term presidency. Winning one election might be an accident. Two, an anomaly. Three in a row proves that earning the support of the Gen Z-millennial alliance is essential to winning elections in our current era.
While Gen Z and millennial voters tend to vote Democratic, the preference is most pronounced in voters under 30. Consider some of the recent exit polls: In Arizona, the incumbent Democratic senator Mark Kelly won 76 percent of the 18-to-29-year-old vote, while the election denier Republican Blake Masters received just 20 percent, according to a CNN exit poll. In Pennsylvania, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat, dominated the youth vote, receiving 70 percent, compared with the 28 percent Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Republican, received. And in Nevada, the incumbent Democratic senator Catherine Cortez Masto earned re-election against the Republican Adam Laxalt, thanks in no small part to her effort among young voters, whom she won resoundingly: Sixty-four percent, compared to Laxalt’s 31 percent.
This union of Gen Z and millennial voters will account for nearly 40 percent of votes in the next presidential election, according to estimates from the Center for American Progress. Republicans ignore this voting bloc at their peril. Even among white voters — the traditional Republican base — the youngest are slipping away to support Democrats. While midterm estimates show that the majority of whites over 30 years old voted Republican, 58 percent of whites under 30 voted for Democratic House candidates.
This is perhaps not surprising given how out of touch with young people party stalwarts such as Senator Ted Cruz can sometimes seem. Mr. Cruz, potentially provoking millions of voters following Mr. Biden’s student loan forgiveness announcement, said: “If you are that slacker barista who wasted seven years in college studying completely useless things, now has loans and can’t get a job, Joe Biden just gave you 20 grand.”
Democrats who court the youth vote fully will likely outperform their competitors in 2024. Now is the time to listen more intently, see beyond the top-line polling data and better understand the values and vision of this still emerging voting bloc intent on saving the America they believe is under threat.
As the salience of the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization illustrates, young voters, both Democratic and Republican, are exceedingly concerned about rights — not just their own. A defining attribute of young Americans today is the degree to which they stand up and fight for those even more vulnerable than they are. Roughly four months before the Supreme Court overturned nearly 50 years of precedent on abortion, preserving individual rights and freedoms overpowered more than a dozen other midterm-year issues such as climate change and criminal justice reform, according to a national surveyof likely voters ages 17 to 34 that my firm, SocialSphere, conducted for Snapchat.
Similarly, according to the fall 2022 Harvard Youth Poll, a national survey I oversee for the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, 59 percent of young Americans believe their rights are under attack and 73 percent are troubled that the rights of others are threatened. Defending and expanding fundamental rights must be a cornerstone of the Democrats’ 2024 program. As the right for women to control their bodies animated younger voters in red states and blue, so too could a campaign for the right to inherit a healthy planet, to feel safe in school, to receive quality education, health care and an economy of opportunity.
As the 2022 post-mortems evolve into 2024 strategy, Mr. Biden and Democrats would also be well served to invest more in relational organizing, which enables young Americans to share with their peers the many campaign promises the president successfully delivered. Breaking through the algorithmic bubble of the uninterested is a complex challenge for political operatives. Our research shows that the more closely younger Americans follow politics, the more likely they are to approve of Mr. Biden’s job performance. As Victor Shi, a U.C.L.A. junior and Mr. Biden’s youngest convention delegate in 2020, reminded me, “the messenger matters, and it’s much easier for a young person to listen if it comes from their peer.”
Like all voters, young Americans stay engaged when they recognize the tangible difference their votes can make. By never losing sight of the threat to our democracy and focusing on concrete deliverables such as an assault weapons ban, a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients, investments in child care and more affordable housing, Democrats can continue to attract and galvanize this critical part of their evolving base.
Many of the young men and women who voted for Democrats this fall have a complicated relationship with America. They have been told of our exceptionalism but rarely experienced it themselves or seen our nation united. Their brightest political memories are when the powerful protect and defend the vulnerable — like the day in 2015, a zoomer told me recently, when President Barack Obama and then-Vice President Biden lit the White House in rainbow L.G.B.T.Q. Pride colors in honor of the Supreme Court recognizing same-sex marriage. In the eyes of many young voters, this is how America meets its destiny: when the passion of the grass roots melds with the power of institutions to forge progress. As political analysts methodically review the numbers after an election for the ages, anyone interested in the winning formula for 2024 should closely examine those between the ages of 18 and 39.
Mr. Della Volpe (@dellavolpe) is the director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics and has overseen its youth poll since 2000. He is the author of “Fight: How Gen Z Is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America.”

Ivan Ehlers, The New Yorker: Meanwhile, in Judge Cannon's Courtroom
[Scott Horton]
* * * *
Judge Cannon did everyone a favor. ::  September 7, 2022
Robert B. Hubbell
In one respect, Judge Aileen Cannon did everyone a favor in her decision to appoint a special master to review the Mar-a-Lago search. She wrote an opinion so awful and bereft of legal reasoning that commentators on all sides of the political spectrum are panning the opinion as an abomination. Indeed, they are falling over themselves to find adjectives, comparisons, and metaphors that adequately describe the havoc of her decision. Here is a fair sampling:
Her decision is utterly lawless [and] she disgraced her position as an Article III judge. [Laurence Tribe @tribelaw.]
[H]er order in this case is nonsense. [Joyce Vance, Civil Discourse]
[A] trainwreck of judicial reasoning. [Ian Millhiser, Vox]
[L]awless partisan hackery. [Dahlia Lithwick, Mark Joseph Stern, Slate]
[U]ntethered to the law. [Andrew Weissman, The Atlantic]
[A] political conclusion in search of a legal rationale. [Jessica Levinson, MSNBC]
[D]eeply problematic. [Ronald S. Sullivan Jr., a Harvard Law School]
[L]aughably bad. [Samuel W. Buell, a Duke University law professor]
And then there is Bill Barr, a man who destroyed his legacy to support Trump. Here is what Bill Barr told Trump’s supporters during an appearance on Fox News:
The opinion, I think, was wrong, and I think the government should appeal it. It’s deeply flawed in a number of ways.
[T]he government has very strong evidence of what it really needs to determine whether charges are appropriate . . . there’s some evidence to suggest that they were deceived.
[N]one of [the government’s case] really relates to the content of documents. It relates to the fact that there were documents [at Mar-a-Lago] and the fact that they were classified and the fact that they were subpoenaed and never delivered.
My point is not to trash Judge Cannon’s integrity, intelligence, or fairness. She has already done so beyond my meager ability to add to the opprobrium already heaped upon her. Rather, the point is that Judge Cannon now understands she is universally regarded as the most incompetent, biased, and clueless federal district judge in the nation—and that is saying something!
How Judge Cannon responds to that stomach-churning realization is what matters. Will Judge Cannon attempt to undo her grotesque error by revising her order? Will she reject efforts by Trump’s team to exploit the legal gruel disguised as analysis in her opinion? Or will she redouble her efforts to serve as Trump’s surrogate defense counsel from her position on the bench in the Southern District of Florida?
The next few days will provide much more information about Judge Cannon’s intentions. I infer (read: speculate) that she is in legal waters way above her head and tried to kludge a remedy unsupported by the law. The result is a Frankenstein’s monster that will haunt her for the remainder of her career. Her decision is already being cited as “The Loose Cannon Rule,” under which criminal defendants can seek a stay of federal criminal proceedings whenever evidence is seized under a search warrant.
The DOJ has many paths forward, most of which are legally complicated and equally unsatisfactory. But as Bill Barr also noted in his comments to Fox News, the decision is more like a “rain delay.” One of the most likely steps is for Merrick Garland to proceed with the special master process and appeal the order staying the investigation—which is a constitutional insult of the highest order.
In her order, Judge Cannon has told the Article II branch of the government that it may not perform the duties granted to it by the Constitution. As Neal Katyal noted yesterday on MSNBC, none of his first-year law students at Georgetown would suggest such an outlandish and unsupported violation of separation of powers. Although the University of Michigan Law School is not the guarantor of the future performance of its graduates, the faculty at the U.Mich.Law should be revising their syllabi to add a few extra sessions on separation of powers—not to mention a deep dive into US v. Nixon. And judicial ethics. And legal research. And common sense.
In the end, Judge Cannon’s decision is so bad it cannot stand. The DOJ will find a way to circumvent the worst parts of her ruling. Trump stole classified documents, concealed them, lied about it, and refused to return them after being served with a grand jury subpoena. He is in deep trouble. If past is prologue, Trump will make his predicament worse by uttering new lies and issuing new admissions.

https://rwmalonemd.substack.com/p/wef-graduates-in-the-usa-elected?r=11si4j&s=r&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email
From the newsletter:
I need your help. A new crop of elected officials or those running in November primaries were selected by United States citizens yesterday.
So here is the job: please compare the list of World Economic Forum Graduates below to any new elected official(s) that you are aware of from yesterday’s election. It there are any changes to the existing politicians careers or electoral status, please leave the changes in the comments also.
These WEF graduates have their primary alliances with a foreign entity, that being the WEF. They should register as foreign agents in my opinion. Are these the ones that “we the people” really want running OUR country?
If any of the people listed below are up for re-election in 2022, please also make note of that in the comments. Let’s see if we can’t generate an updated and complete list of those we need to work to ensure their electoral loss!
Thank you everyone for your help in this - it means a great deal to me.

Introductory Post
Greetings, all! I'm Holden, and I come from a rather unique background that has significantly influenced my career aspirations. Initially, I kicked off my college journey as a quarterback at Northwood University. However, during my sophomore year, I decided to make a major shift by transferring to Central Michigan University to pursue another passion of mine after getting injured: supply chain management. This pivotal moment marked the commencement of a new phase in my life, complete with a fresh set of objectives.
My professional ambitions center around the desire to be part of something more significant than myself. I'm not satisfied with merely being a small cog in the machinery; rather, I aspire to play a substantial role in shaping ideas and actions within an organization. I genuinely believe that true fulfillment comes from contributing to a greater purpose and leaving a meaningful mark.
In this blog, my aim is to create a sense of connection and relatability for all my readers. We'll delve into various aspects of my journey, explore the realm of supply chain management, delve into discussions on leadership, and share experiences that illuminate the challenges and triumphs of pursuing one's dreams.
Now, allow me to introduce you to a company that, in my personal opinion, excels in the domain of social media and aligns with the principles discussed in our reading assignment. This company is none other than Patagonia. Patagonia is renowned not only for its top-notch outdoor equipment but also for its strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility. They have mastered the art of utilizing social media to promote sustainability, engage the community, and foster activism.
Patagonia's social media presence mirrors their values and mission, and they execute several commendable strategies. They actively interact with their audience, share substantial content concerning environmental issues, and encourage their followers to take action. 10/20/2023 Click here for Spotify, Apple Music, or Youtube. “Earth” is my 61st official release. This track is special. Not only did it cost me more than normal, but I got a couple of great features and took me a couple of studio sessions to get right. I am very pleased with the result. This is my hit or at least I’ll be promoting it like it is. The song was self-recorded but mixed and mastered by Sam Peters at La Luna Recordings in Kalamazoo Michigan. The cover art is by ArtworkGang from Fiverr. And the beat is by Ryini beats. There’s not much to say about his song than go listen to it, put it in a playlist, and listen on repeat.
I talk about this blog post and other updates in the latest Sunday update here:

this bothers them
Tumblr media
Lucy can’t really believe she’s here.
When she was seven, and she took a bite from Will’s donut during one of the many long, boring First Communion prep breakfasts, no one noticed. So, she didn’t get into any trouble. When she was ten, and she let Steph Armstrong copy her test, no one noticed. So, Lucy didn’t get into any trouble. Hell, when she was a pregnant eleventh grader, no one yelled at her about it. They were just happy she’d gotten married while she still could.
It begs the question, though.
How is a strict Catholic school more lenient than a public university?
Lucy is in the first year – the first semester – of her master’s degree in Detroit. She takes all her classes with the same small group of people. They call themselves a cohort. Lucy hates that word. It would imply that she feels any sense of community toward them, and she does not. How can she feel community with people who want to bring her down?
The rumblings started from the moment the new graduate students sat in the same room. When they introduced themselves, everyone developed the same opinion about Lucy: She thinks she’s better than everyone else. Because she went to Michigan. Because her parents are English professors. Because she’s already married. And maybe a tiny part of Lucy did believe she was better than the others. She’s not proud of it – wishes she could claw the arrogance right out of her veins. But when it came out of their mouths, it all sounded like a lie.
But they never gave it up. And when Lucy earned a higher score on a paper in their Medieval Studies class, some guy named Jason sought revenge. He went to the boss and told him that Lucy had been saying condescending things about her students.
Which brings her here, now.
In her department head’s office.
Accused of being a jerk to students not three full months into her postsecondary career.
The department head gives her some basic warning about watching what she says because you never know who’s going to take what the wrong way. Somehow, Lucy knows he’s talking more about some guy named Jason than about students. He hands her a small chocolate bar – the kind you keep in a dish for kind decoration – and tells her to listen well.
“This won’t be the last time something like this happens to you,” the department head says. “It might not ever happen to the other students in your cohort, but it will happen to you.”
“I know,” Lucy says, a little surprised by her own confidence.
“You know?”
“Yes. I might be the only one in my cohort who makes it to a doctoral program, much less to a tenure-track position. And I know … I know it works in my favor to have the parents I have.”
The boss nods.
“But you know that’s not at all,” he says. “You’d have this much talent if you’d been born to mathematicians or if you’d been raised by a gallon of milk.”
Lucy almost smiles, but she doesn’t. She understands about weakness.
“Yes,” she says again. “And I don’t like this, but I do understand it, when I think about it. I have power. Whether I asked for it or not, I have power. The others in my cohort … they understand it, too.”
“Would it be gauche to say bingo?”
“Maybe. But I won’t tell if you won’t.”
The department head laughs. Before he sends Lucy on her way, he says something about how power doesn’t just intimidate people anymore. It bothers them.
“They’re used to being the most powerful student in the room,” he says. “But that’s what happens when you put a bunch of the top students from different places in the same room. Somebody still comes out on top. I think that’s you.”
Lucy almost smiles again.
“Thank you,” she says. “I’d like it to be.”
But on the inside, she’s screaming. Still the same desperate kid she always was. Still dying to be the best at everything. The greatest.
When she’s finally out of the department head’s office, she allows herself one smile.

In a unique universe of my creation, there are several groups of extraordinary individuals who possess remarkable abilities and face their own set of challenges. In Los Angeles, California, a group of six college friends known as "The Enhanced" gained superhuman powers after encountering a mysterious artifact called "the forever stone" at a party. Emily wields control over the four elements, Ace possesses telepathic abilities and encyclopedic knowledge, Kyle can manipulate and create technology, Ava manipulates the color spectrum and shoots energy blasts, and Christian utilizes weapons alongside his peak physical abilities. Together, they form a secret team committed to using their powers for good while navigating their academic lives. However, the government views them as a threat and seeks their capture.
Meanwhile, in New York City, three brothers named Zane, Amir, and Malik, known as "The Outcasts," train under the legendary sensei Rashid on a treacherous island. Urged by their master to leave and seek refuge, they assume secret identities to live a new life in the city. When they receive news of their father's passing, they return to the island driven by a sense of duty and vengeance. Zane possesses immense strength, Amir excels in stealth and deception, and Malik is a weapons prodigy. Trained in various forms of combat, they use their skills to fight injustice while evading law enforcement.
News headlines in this universe explore the moral and ethical implications of superhuman abilities, raising questions about justice, vigilante actions, and public opinion. The chaos caused by Scarlet, a vampire in Duluth, Minnesota, leads to debates on superpower control. Surge, a speedster in Boston, Massachusetts, sparks discussions on the line between heroism and vigilantism. Apex, operating in Detroit, Michigan, challenges the notion of justice served by taking matters into their own hands. Crystal, an individual with mysterious powers, roams Antarctica and the United States, leaving people fascinated and curious about her true nature.
Amidst conflicting opinions, these extraordinary individuals strive to make a positive impact, protect their communities, and confront their own personal struggles. In this interconnected universe, their paths may cross, leading to epic showdowns, alliances, and further exploration of the ever-evolving world of superheroes and vigilantes.

Are Grades Really As Important As People Make them Seem?
Thomas J. Stanley, the author of The Millionaire Next Door, once said, “Grades don’t measure your tenacity, courage, leadership, [or] guts,” and he’s not wrong. Throughout the years, there have been debates about whether or not high school grades matter. Are they actually good indicators of future success? Do good grades play a role in scholarship selection? These questions have been plaguing generations of students, but it seems for many, grades are more important than ever.
More and more, students have found a misguided correlation between their grades and their self-worth. In fact, a study done at the University of Michigan found that 80% of students have based their self-worth on their grades. Due to this mistaken way of thinking, the pursuit of “good” grades has caused many students unnecessary stress. According to Cross River Therapy, 61% of students stress over producing satisfactory grades.
Grades are supposed to be an indication of where a student is in their learning of the various skills they’ll need to master prior to graduating and heading out into the “real-word.” But too many students, and far too many parents, are focused more on being an “A student” than on learning and mastering essential skills. According to high school students, 66.7% of students said their parents are very concerned about their grades, and 64.9% of students agreed, placing high importance on their own grades.
All this stress can negatively affect student performance in school. In an article from the American Physiological Association, 35% of students lie awake at night due to stress, 53% of students feel lazy, and 23% of students say they have no motivation to do their homework.
This seems like a large mental health sacrifice when only 50.9% of high school students polled feel that their grades will dictate their future. The University of Arizona looked into grades and how it affects your future. They found that your grades don’t dictate your future, but they can help you plan your future. According to their study, your GPA isn’t going to improve your job prospects or the salary range that you are earning. The ability to earn a degree speaks out to your future employer and not the good grades that you got in high school. They don’t care about those things when it comes to a job, they look at your strengths and weaknesses.
You don’t need to have a 4.0 GPA to get a scholarship but it could be helpful in a way. Not all scholarships are based on the grades that they get as high school students, sometimes they award scholarships for sports and extracurricular activities that you participate in. A lot of scholarships have certain things that they require when it comes to application to see if you qualify. Some have that you have to be a full-time or part-time student, another is you have to live in a certain town, or you have to be going into a certain career.
In my opinion, I think that grades don’t matter, nor should we grade students. I think that students shouldn’t base what they are worth based on their grades. I also think that parents put a lot of stress on their children to get perfect grades. Parents need to stop putting stress on their kids because it affects our mental health and it makes us feel as if we aren’t good enough if we don’t have all A’s and B’s. These grades in 5 years, that you got won’t be relevant nor will they matter to your employer, your family, or any of your friends. Teachers or any other persons in a position of authority should never tell anybody they will not succeed because they did not get all A’s in school”.

1- Caddie Confidential cover: this cover, I believe, is a good example of scale and the difference in importance. We can see how the designer chose to create this scale contrast to demonstrate the difference in importance. He struck an excellent balance between the background and the most important element of the cover, the tile. While the background was designed with smaller typefaces and a lighter color to give it less importance, the book title is larger and has a louder voice on the cover. On the other hand, I like how the designer replaced a letter on the tile ("i") with an object (tee and ball).
2- Pantene: this bottle design exemplifies texture. The optical appearance of this design drew my attention. This adds a lot of detail to the design as well as shine, sparkles, and glow. I also like how the designer added the phrase "Never tell" with letterforms, which adds texture to the design. Although these are not the same textures, I like how they complement each other.
3- The Masters logo: this logo, I believe, is a great example of what we learned in this module about line, plane, and volume. As we can see, a closed line defines a shape, which in this case creates the territory of the United States. This graphic object also has a plane and a volume. The graphic designer in this case gave this object three-dimensional space. The flag and the shape of the United States, on the other hand, are scaled in relation to each other. This size contrast creates a sense of depth and movement.
4- Carolina Herrera logo on perfume: although this is a simple logo with few details, it incorporates many of the concepts discussed in this module. The designer worked with two letters, changing not only their scale but also their position, to achieve a great balance and a simple but distinctive logo. I also like how the space is used. This is a symmetrical element from top to bottom, and I believe it contributes to the logo's overall balance and use of space.
5- Michigan State backpack: this backpack design, in my opinion, is an excellent example of asymmetry and scale. Although the Spartan logos are positioned in different scales and green colors, the design achieves balance through asymmetry. The elements' placement in relation to each other activates them in the space, and the negative space is turned off. This design's visual balance is fantastic.

driver talent 64 bit
Force India have yet to name their second driver for your 2013 season and we all already halfway through the second test session in The capital. In this article I will give my opinion in which driver should get camp fire . seat in Formula One particular particular. A $400 Callaway driver is not just a good club for an amateur. An expensive club like higher paralyze your game. You might not dare to swing it tough. You'll be too afraid of breaking the club to get any practice in. With the other hand, a "cheapo" secondhand X-Factor Super Zolex off eBay is another type of matter. Who cares just how many of them you bend or break while for you to drive the ball? F1 drivers a couple of of the bravest sportsmen in turmoil. Imagine the courage it takes to race around those tracks as near as perform at those incredible speeds understanding even just a single mistake could cause a crash that could injure not really kill these items. It is definitely not a sports activity for the fainthearted, for for guaranteed. Baseball skills are specific physical tools that an individual perform on the field. Confidence is the characteristic an individual need be successful. Maybe in order to the best player against your own team, pitch the fastest in your league or are just an average kid seeking to have simple. You won't potential to to increase your talent anyone have aren't positive about your skill levels. The single most distinguishing feature associated with master craftsman is special bond they've got with their source of power.a tool/instrument/ or bit of equipment specific . them leverage and magnify their dominance. Let's look at the tools of their trade. Pilots and astronauts with their aircraft. Race car drivers with their vehicles. driver talent Cracked and jewelers with their tools. Athletes with their bodies, their basketball, golf clubs, football, or the particular other team players. We admire them for astounding to work their magic and magnify their talent in ways we could never think you could. Curtis Turner's driving career came to an end because was driving for Smokey Yunick and suffered a hardcore wreck at Atlanta. driver talent Has been created a horrific crash and Curtis was badly shaken, but not seriously trauma. Smokey however couldn't bear the acknowledged what might have happened. He withdrew his Chevrolet entry immediately leaving Curtis without a ride. "I'm not in order to be build the vehicle that Curtis Turner gets killed in," Smokey spoken. If there is fault for you to become laid here the Michigan administration should shoulder via a tunnel it for underestimating the impact of an enormous change love this particular. Rodriguez is a strong coach, and sooner or later he'll show it again. Others Drivers who could be in contention to join Mclaren are Ralf Schumacher, Pedro De La Rosa(Test Driver) and can it be an Indian Driver like Karun Chandok he is also doing correctly. I think he got the award for essentially the most improved driver in Gp2 and regarding GianCarlo Fisichella.
