MMO AU info post (+answering questions!)

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ hey guys I’m just gonna answer questions about this au in this post bc I got a bunch and I wasn’t expecting it at all so here’s an infodump, I hope it all makes sense!!

They all met online, but some of them eventually meet irl! (´∇ﾉ｀*)ノ The Big Meetup in the end happens at a con, but other than that, most of their interactions are online! (Also, some of them know each other irl but don’t know that they know each other, because I just think that’s funny.)

They’re separated by the groups in the original post: 

Kirumi/Tsumugi/Gonta/Ryoma 

Tsumugi is guild leader.

Korekiyo/Kokichi/Miu/Angie

Miu is guild leader.

Himiko/Tenko/Rantaro/Kiibo

Tenko is guild leader.

Kaito/Shuichi/Kaede/Maki

Kaito is guild leader.

But they have definitely been in-and-out of a few guilds/combinations! This is what they’re settled with at this current point in time, and are not limited to just playing with their guildmates! For example, Miu never sleeps so she will play with anyone that’s online, and on the flipside, Himiko sometimes takes a nap even when she promised to play, so someone will fill in for her!

Also, there’s more than four people in their guilds (winks at other games), but drawing them all will take me out for a week so maybe I’ll expand another time. The top guild is headed by Hajime (SDR2), I’ll tell you that much!

(wipes brow) I had … some thoughts behind them, but you can totally take them as random names, and you can bet they all had other weirder names before settling on these ones! Also, thank you so much…!!

Kirumi - Lotus: the short story “The Spider’s Thread” (蜘蛛の糸 Kumo no Ito) features a lotus-filled pond.

Tsumugi - EVA: she likes EVA foam (for cosplay), and also Evangelion.

Gonta - Golem: partially Tsumugi’s idea, partially because he once mistook an enemy golem for himself and then his character died. His friends just started calling him “Golem” because they thought it was hilarious.

Ryoma - Suteneko: literally means stray cat. He does have a whole bunch of cats irl and in-game because who are we to deny him that? (Ryoma on voice chat: just a bunch of mewing in the distance)

Korekiyo - Suzume: means sparrow, named after the Japanese folktale Shita-kiri Suzume (舌切り雀 shita-kiri suzume), translated literally into “Tongue-Cut Sparrow”.

Kokichi - Keikaku: all according to keikaku (keikaku means plan).

Miu - Tensai: literally means genius/natural prodigy. She’s almost always doing something else while she plays, because she’s a multi-tasking extraordinaire.

Angie - Atlas: named in accordance with “The World” tarot card. As a bonus, she sometimes pronounces it Atuas.

Himiko - Tigera: she thought it sounded cool. Also she has a tiger mount. I don’t know the entire logistics of this game, but that’s a thing now?

Tenko - Sencha: Sencha (煎茶) is a type of Japanese ryokucha (緑茶, green tea). She took the Cha (茶, tea) from Chabashira, and picked her favorite tea. She is also always drinking tea when she plays, and has spilled it on her keyboard multiple times. She is not accepting drink suggestions, but Miu always tries for coffee and Kokichi always tries for soda.

Rantaro - North: it was a Santa Claus joke originally, because he kept gifting people stuff for no reason other than his insane luck at getting rare drops, but also Rantaro consistently got lost on the map, despite being very certain he was going the right way.

Kiibo - Volt: partially because they thought it was cool, partially because they’re a major science nerd and felt like it fit.  

Kaito - Kamina: “Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb!” - Kamina from Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann, and also Kaito’s all-time hero. His character’s tagline was “Kamina said it, so it must be true!”

Shuichi - Lune: derived from Debussy’s Clair de Lune, he was renamed by Kaede after he started a new character. Also partially influenced by a conversation he had with Kaito and Maki that somehow ended up with them deciding he was the moon?

Kaede - Maple: the english meaning of Kaede (楓, maple). She also just thought it was cute! She had seasonal outfits in-game inspired by maple leaves, so she’d taken it as a motif, of sorts!

Maki - Haru: the Haru (春, spring) from Harukawa. She chose it on a whim, and it stuck, though she regretted it because she detested being called “Haru-chan” online. Still, she often got complimented for having a cute character and a cute name, and it secretly made her happy.

He actually appreciated you, because you weren’t mad or suspicious when he joined the 8th Company.

It was mostly because you were attracted to intelligent people. Of course, it wasn’t a snobbish thing, you were just admiring those who could do difficult things easily.

Victor was often catching you watching him, whenever he was working on something. He was simply smiling at you, and you were running away, embarrassed that you got caught.

However, once, he actually called you. ‘’Don’t hide, (Y/N). You can sit and watch closer, you know. It won’t bother me.’’ You were embarrassed enough that he knew you were watching him again, but your curiosity got the best of you, since you actually sat next to him.

He actually started to explain to you what he was doing. ‘’Do you wanna try ?’’ You bit your lip. ‘’No, I’m scared I’ll fail and you’ll have to do it all over again.’’ He chuckled and that was when you realized ; you had a crush on him. Oh oh.

Throughout time, it became a bit of an habit for you to visit him in his workshop whenever you weren’t busy. He would always greet you happily, showing you everything and explaining all of his experiments.

That’s why you often found yourself cleaning behind him, so his workplace would remain clean enough -he was always making a mess of that room and you wondered how he could work in peace with those conditions.

‘’(Y/N) ! You cleaned everything ? Thank you, you didn’t have to !’’ He would say everytime. You would simply nod, blushing. And you were sure he was noticing your red cheeks everytime, since he was always grinning back at you.

Even on missions, whenever Victor seemed lost in his thoughts or was muttering something, you were focused on him and someone had to call you out to focus back on the mission -that actually was making the scientist laugh everytime.

However, you two got even closer when Victor started to do some researches on you. Indeed, you could generate fire from your fingers, creating some fire strings. And he really wanted to know how that worked.

One day, as we was inspecting your fire, he suddenly asked, out of the blue : ‘’(Y/N), do you like me ? You’re always staring at me and you’re interesting in all my experiments.’’ He said, his usual smile on his face.

You couldn’t reply anything, you only turned red -you could feel your cheeks burning. Still, you managed to quietly nod, your eyes widened. Victor chuckled. ‘’It’s okay. We could hang out sometimes. And you deserve it, after cleaning my workshop all the time !’’

You really couldn’t believe what he had just said. However, he giggled when he noticed something in your features ; you were now smiling, even though you were still red as hell.
