Im….kinda shocked by this form? Like Boost MkII definitely didnt feel incomplete, im surprised it got expanded upon. But unlike say Shining Hopper to Assault Hopper, i like this form just about as much as the prior one! The real strength of this design is that it mixes Geats’ signature colors throughout, rather than the half-and-half look of Geats’ signature form, and it does so to great effect! I particularly like how the helmet comes together. The addition of Ziin’s fox-ear/horns and blue eyes/detailing also kicks ass, gives the suit a totally unique vibe from any of Geats’ other forms. I love this suit!

Steel Brigade is an international security force that works with the G.I. Joe Task Force. It is composed by the best of the best that the world has to offer. They are tasked by the United Nations to keep the peace as an arm of NATO. Steel Brigade responses to any emergency, whether it is natural or man made.
History
Steel Brigade was created by the G.I. Joe Task Force in 1987 as a training unit for potential members. Members were referred to as Agent and their last name until they earned their code name. After they earned their code name, they could stay with Steel Brigade or transfer to Joe operations. They acted as support personal during their training. Their duties included, but were not limited to, the following: vehicle maintenance, facility maintenance, security, routine daily operations, combat support, and intelligence gathering.
They continued in this capacity until shortly before G.I. Joe was publicly disbanded in 1995. Even though this was a ruse to trick Cobra, Steel Brigade was officially no longer part of the United States armed forces. But instead of retiring the unit, the United States of America transferred it to NATO as part of their military support. This included some equipment, such as the Skyhawk.
The remaining members of Steel Brigade began recruiting and training new members from not just the USA, but also from the international community. Agents were found in military and civilian agencies. This has allowed them to become the premier security force, able to respond quickly and save countless lives.
In 2005, G.I. Joe member Gung-Ho and Oktober Guard member Dragonsky became honorary members of Steel Brigade and took charge of a mission to stop General Mayhem. After the successful completion of the mission, both became trainers. This has only increased the overall effectiveness of team members.
In 2014, Steel Brigade suffered a major loss. Their Pennsylvania base was destroyed after a mission in Cleveland, Ohio. Cobra agents released a substance called Compound Z. All the agents at that location were transformed into zombies, with the exception of the Steel Brigade Commander of that location. All agents were killed and the instillation was deemed a complete loss.
Tumblr media
Uniforms
Members of Steel Brigade are issued a uniform based on the original uniforms. Agents that earned their code name were permitted to personalize their uniform. Over the years the uniform has changed to show what division each member is a part of. The divisions and uniforms for each are described below.
The standard agent uniform for Steel Brigade agents has changed little since 1987. Each team member is issued an olive drab balaclava, light blue long sleeve shirt or sweater, khaki pants, black combat boots, and black gloves. Their tactical gear is an olive drab molle vest, a black bandoleer, black kneepads, and a standard issue Steel Brigade helmet.
Steel Brigade Delta agents are vehicle specialists. They are divided into Ground units and Aerial units.
Ground vehicle specialists are agents that operate the military ground units such as tanks and the VAMP MKII. They are issued an olive drab coverall, gray combat boots, gray gloves, and a gray balaclava. Their tactical gear is a green tactical vest and a green and a brown Steel Brigade Delta helmet.
Aerial vehicle specialists are agents that operate the military air units such as the Skyhawk. They are issued an olive drab balaclava, light blue long sleeve shirt or sweater, Urban Rain Camo pants, black combat boots, and black gloves. Their tactical gear is a green and black tactical vest and a silver and black Steel Brigade Delta helmet.
Paratrooper specialists are issued a gray balaclava, Urban Rain Camo coverall, black boots, and black gloves. Their tactical gear is a black tactical vest and a paratrooper Steel Brigade helmet.
There are times when agents are issued an alternative uniform for special missions. These uniforms may very per mission requirements.
The non-commissioned officer uniform and tactical gear is the same as the division they belong to. They are also issued a side arm, boot knife and ammo pouch.
The Paratrooper Commander wears a black balaclava, a black long sleeve shirt/sweater, Urban Rain Camo pants, black gloves, and black combat boots. The Commander’s tactical gear consists of a black tactical vest and a gold paratrooper helmet, special modified to assist with command and control.
Steel Brigade commanders wear a green balaclava, black gloves, black combat boots, and either a blue coverall or a blue long sleeve shirt/sweater and blue pants with a gold belt. Their tactical gear is a green molle vest, a black bandoleer, black kneepads, and a gold Steel Brigade helmet, special modified to assist with command and control.
Steel Brigade agents are trained to use multiple firearms and weapons, but most use a modified M4 with a bayonet.

Yet another FNV log, this time done at 1 in the morning because I can't sleep.
Hoover dam. Someone told me there's good armor there so I need to find it
I have not found it
I did spend 3500 caps on 466 rounds of 40-70g so I can use my Ranger Sequoia though
That was all of my money
Also the Sequoia cannot be sold
Rather than say this on the item or grey it out in shop modes, they'd rather give you a heart attack and simply not show it at all
I thought I dropped it by accident
Wouldn't have been the first time (DLC grenade launcher)
Don't tell me where it is, I will find it on my own
Though tell me if it's real, I don't want to be played by a Tumblr user like a kazoo
Trying to do Vault 19, but I don't have a high-enough explosives stat
I just need it to get to 50, but I'm at like, 19
Bit of a grind
Young Deathclaws are at least pretty easy to kill
.308 punctures that hide very well, granted I hit the target
Killed a Viper leader with combat armor
Repaired my MKII combat armor, thank god things were hard without that DT it provided
Bought a combat helmet to fix the MK combat helmet I have from the same guy I bought the 40-70 from
It doesn't actually do much but its good to have anyway
Found Brotherhood power armor
I need training to use it goddamn it
I also forgot to drop it off when I went back to Doc's so I'm luggin an additional 40 pounds everywhere
The NCR has power armor? For whatever reason this is the most surprising thing to me
Howdy Partner
Common soldiers are getting things like 12.7mm pistols
This is gravely concerning
Cazadors are the fucking worst!
I went through ONE canyon and lost all 4 antivenoms I had
God I hate those things so much why would anyone make them, in universe and out
Helped out a Super Mutant
Not really I killed their friends and helped the one I was supposed to kill leave peacefully but it satisfied them so y'know
I don't think I can get to Jamestown without dying in the process
Both of radiation and medical bill
I have so many 5.56 bullets but they're just not that good y'know
Like 600 bullets is cool but if they each deal like 1 damage against a 200 hp bug, its really not useful
I actually haven't used the ap ammo that one guy gave me at like level 5 yet
I wonder if that'll be useful
If I understand Hollow Point correctly, it increases the target's DT by 3? Or does it increase the gun's DAM by 3? This is somehow confusing me
I think I'll help out the powder gangers the next playthrough
They seem like they're among the more chiller factions, despite being a bunch of violent convicts
I hate the NCR because they're imperialists but goddamn they have some serious firepower that I definitely love
Patrolling the Mojave really makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Grenades are bull, I have simply refused to acknowledge their existence
Power Armor looks stupid in this game, lmao
I'm only spoiled by FO4 but still
I found a minigun and a machine gun
I can only use the machine gun because of a specific perk I have
Nevertheless, I keep the minigun in a vain hope of somehow gaining 2 more strength points
.44 seems so weak now
I think that's all I have for this update. Have a good one.

Security Breach.
Tumblr media
Alright. I think it’s about time.
Tumblr media
You’re getting ready to breach?
*Eden watches as Kaede takes a grenade out of her backpack.
Tumblr media
Yeah. Munakata needs me to detonate this near the area of the map he pointed out. Judging from the layout, it should be just around that hatch.
Tumblr media
Over there, huh?
*Eden and Kaede poke their heads up above their hiding spot, and see the periscopes and sensors active.
Tumblr media
You aren’t gonna be able to lob it from here. And if you try to get closer, they’re gonna see you.
Tumblr media
...You’re right...Hm...
Tumblr media
...!
*Kaede thinks for a moment, then suddenly gets an idea. She takes the grenade pouch and pulls it tightly into a rope.
Tumblr media
Hold on...
*She then uses the pouch to tie the grenade to her Mozart MKII Spear. She then holds the spear horizontally, and uses it’s ability to make it float.
Tumblr media
...That could just work...
Tumblr media
...
*Kaede retains focus and moves the spear forward through the air. With the grenade strapped to it, it floats over the bunker without triggering the sensors.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Kaede! Periscope, 9 o’clock!
Tumblr media
!!?
*Using her predictions to their advantage, Eden warns Kaede in time as a periscope pops out of the ground next to the spear. Kaede quickly moves her spear and hides it behind a tree. The periscope looks around for a moment, then retreats back into the ground.
Tumblr media
Phew! Thanks...
Tumblr media
Hehe~
...*Kaede resumes focus and moves the spear further forward, until she’s right above the spot. The grenade pouch becomes lose and the grenade itself falls and lands on the ground, immediately triggering the sensors and causing the periscopes to appear.
Tumblr media
NOW!
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!*
*Kaede controls her spear and causes it to crash on the grenade. The spear’s properties cause the reaction to trigger immediately, and a massive explosion bursts out and blows the lab wide open!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GAAGH!?
Tumblr media
!!?
Tumblr media
!!?
*WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO!*
*Ando and his Monokuma helpers topple over as the explosion shakes the entire lab system. Items fall off his tables, as a loud blaring alarm sounds out throughout the facility.
Tumblr media
Tch...!
*Ando grabs a protective helmet and dons it, turning towards the tied-up detectives.
Tumblr media
Friends of yours I presume? They arrived quicker than I would have thought...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAHAHAAAGH!?
*Not too far away, the Monokubs, traveling together as a group, also fly around in a panic at the explosion.
Tumblr media
GAAGH! I-I feel...NAUSEOUS! BLUUEAGH!
Tumblr media
WHAT THE HELL’S GOING ON!?
Tumblr media
SOMEONE DROPPED THE BASE HELLA HARD!
Tumblr media
BEEP-! *Whirr* WE-HAVE-A-BREACH!
Tumblr media
Let’s get the hell outta here!
*They scuttle down the tunnels together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Great! Just in time!
*Kaede hears sounds above her, as the choppers full of soldiers fly by. Kaede’s squadron stops next to her, and the Future Foundation soldiers descend down on lines to join her.
Tumblr media
Get down into the lab! I’ll be right behind you!
Tumblr media
Hey! Let me come too!
Tumblr media
No! I can’t do that Eden. I don’t want to put you at risk.
Tumblr media
Stay here, and make sure no one escapes. Anyone or anything tries to get through here, you turn them back, or you turn them into fertilizer!
*Kaede turns and rushes down towards the breached hatch with her soldiers.
Tumblr media
...Alright, fine. I’ll bite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hragh!
Tumblr media
BAAWWR!
Tumblr media
PUHAHAHAHAHA!
*Kaede leaps down into the lab and recalls her spear as the Monokuma’s inside start to rush at her and her soldiers. Despite the explosion from before, her spear is in peak condition.
Tumblr media
Wow! Barely even a scratch!
*She readies herself and turns around to her squadron
Tumblr media
This is it boys! SCRAP ‘EM!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BREACH AND CLEAR! GO GO GO!
*Munakata and his men dive out of their chopper and arrive at the first door. A charge is quickly planted and the door is blown wide open. They waste no time in rushing inside.
Soldier: Sir! We appear to be in the clear. No enemies currently in sight.
Tumblr media
Looks like Kaede Akamatsu’s distraction is working.
Tumblr media
Remain on your guards. We’re not likely to be alone for long!
Tumblr media
Soldier: You sure you’re ok, sir?
Tumblr media
Yeah! Yeah, don’t worry, I got this! I got...GRUAAGH!
*Clenching his stomach, Kuripa slides down the wire outside the other door, after watching Munakata and his men descend from a distance. Kuripa and his squad land safely.
Soldier: Get a charge on this door! Blow it wide-
Tumblr media
DRRAAGH!
*SLAAAAMM!*
*Kuripa leans down and shoulder tackles the steel doors out of their sockets.
Soldier: Oh! Uh...Never mind! That works too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HYAGH!
Tumblr media
BAHAUGH!
*Kaede rushes forward and slices through a beastly Monokuma using her spear. As she continues to take out all the assaulting enemies down the tunnel, the soldiers continue to push their way through, opening fire on any enemies and clearing out the lab.
Soldier: Commander! Incoming!
Tumblr media
Huh!?
Tumblr media
PUHUHUHU!
*FWOOOOM!*
*Two Destroyer Monokuma’s soar down the tunnel with their jetpacks, and once they get within distance, they spurt flames straight at Kaede and her men.
Tumblr media
NEUGH!
*WHOOSH!* *WHOOSH!* *WHOOSH!* *WHOOSH!* *WHOOSH!*
*Kaede wheels her spear around as fast as she can to fan and deflect the flames, but she becomes worn down easily.
Soldier: COMMANDER!
Tumblr media
I can’t...HOLD THEM...!
Tumblr media
AAHAHAHAHAA-HEAUCK!
Tumblr media
DAAAGHKK!?
Tumblr media
!!??
*Kaede and her men stand their ground, but then are given a chance to relax as both Destroyer’s are suddenly sliced completely in half.
Tumblr media
Hoo...Not a bad clean up job all things considered. Need some help?
Tumblr media
Phew! Don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see you before, Kuripa. Thanks for the save.
Tumblr media
No problem. Now let’s hurry and find Boytoy and Bosswife!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey...did ya’ll sees what I sees?
Tumblr media
Holy crap...!? They killed dad! Like...ALL of dad!
Tumblr media
What happened!? Daddy was supposed to be the strongest of all time!?
Tumblr media
Hey...Izit just me, or does that blond chick look kinda familiar?
Tumblr media
THAT-WAS-KAEDE-AKAMATSU. THE-ULTIMATE-PIANIST. THE-GIRL-THE-MASTERMIND-FRAMED-FOR-RANTARO-AMAMI’S-DEATH.
Tumblr media
YOU’RE KIDDIN’!
Tumblr media
I barely recognize her! Who knew she had become this strong...!?
Tumblr media
H-Hey...Monotaro! You’re the leader. What do we do?
Tumblr media
I’ll tell you what we’ll do...
Tumblr media
Monokid! What should we do!?
Tumblr media
Huh!? Ugh...I dunno! Monosuke! What should we do!?
Tumblr media
Nyeegh...Hey, Mono-dumb?
Tumblr media
YES?
Tumblr media
You still got that bomb Doc Ando gave ya?
Tumblr media
AFFIRMATIVE.
Tumblr media
Good. Keep a nice tight hold o’ that. Future Foundation might be able to destroy or deactivate the othah bombs, but so long as we keep this one away from ‘em, they’re fucked!
Tumblr media
So run and hide like cowards? I like that idea!
*The Monokubs run off to hide like cowards while Kuripa and Kaede storm their way through the lab towards Shuichi and Kyoko.

A basic overview of Clancy (my Lackadaisy OC)
Date of birth: December 14, 1902
Breed: Siamese
Currently employed with the Lackadaisy crew under Mitzi May. Originally worked for a smaller speakeasy in the northern outskirts of Dallas before said establishment was raided by police in 1926.
Spent just over a year traveling around the country before eventually winding up in St. Louis sometime in late 1927 and quickly thereafter finding employment in the Lackadaisy.
Has an M1917 helmet which he bought from an army surplus store shortly after joining his original gang. Only wears it during bootlegging runs in case of a shootout. Also owns a Martini Henry MKII Carbine which he managed to snag on his way out of his old gang.
Is rather socially awkward and struggles to fit in with peers. Finds it easier to simply keep to himself most of the time, and has never been the one to initiate the few friendships he has had. Is much more open and expressive around people he trusts.
Rocky, Calvin, and Ivy are the only people in Lackadaisy who he considers to be friends. Is largely indifferent to everyone else, with the exception of Viktor, who he finds to be a bit frightening.
Obsessed with space and can ramble incesantly about anything and everything to do with it for extended periods of time. Also interested in military history to a slightly lesser degree.
This is all I can think of right now. I may have more ideas for him later. At the very least, I might like to elaborate more on that old crew he was formely a member of.

The RAF First Aid Kit is hanging from the waist strap of his B-3 life preserver. Merriman of the 20th FG 79th SQ, posed with three of his ground crew. I'll simply list the items in photo and you find them: A-11, Type-C's, AN-H-15, B-8's, A-14's, B-2's, B-8's again, B-10's, M-3's, B-4's, AN-6550/AN- S-31A "Crusher" and P-51 (Further down this page is a second group of pilots from this same FG SQ). For you beginning collectors, I will make this a test photo. That hose is from the anti-G suit Type G-1 or Type G-2. The pilot on the far left has a hose extending from the waist. Shown circled are the RAF first aid packets. (F-7) Shown above is a an excellent photo of a group of 364th FG pilots. 1 large wound dressing / and 1 safety pin. Either way, both kits contained the following: 2 morphine syringes / 2 anti-burn mitten-gloves / 1 tube of anti-burn jelly 1 oz. One refers to the anti-burn gloves as mittens while the other kit describes them as gloves. The only difference is the printing of contents. The one kit displayed on my fighter pilot is stamped MkIII. RAF: Flying Equipment of the Air War, 1939-45", there were 3 variants of the Aircrew First aid kit - The Mk I, MkII and MkIII. (F-6) According to Mick Prodger's excellent book "Luftwaffe vs. Also in the photo, the connection point for the life raft is shown clearly. One can only speculate on how or why some of these kits wound up in some of the fighter groups. This RAF kit shows up in a few photographs, but not as prevalent as the US parachute first aid kit. (F-5) Shown above is a closer look how the RAF First aid Kit was hung from the life preserver strap. bomber crews, but were much more prevalent with U.S. These gloves show up in a few photos of U.S. (F-4) Shown above is the RAF 1941 pattern gloves accompanied by the silk inserts. The men are shown turning in their personal items before going out on another mission. He too was shot down and became a POW in Nov. Jensen wearing the tanker jacket and pants/coveralls. Garlock who was shot down May 1944 and became a POW. Larsen wearing the tanker pants/coveralls that go with the tanker jacket. (F-3) Shown above are three pilots of the 55th FG. Its use decreased when the B-10 jacket and A-9 pants arrived. The jacket and pant/coveralls were made of the same material and had the wool blanket type lining. It was warmer than the A-2 jacket and more comfortable to wear. The name "tanker jacket" seems to be the term mostly used. (F-2) Shown above is the Tanker Jacket or Combat Jacket. Several of these items are shown in more detail in the photos below. Plus one more RAF item, the AM (Air Ministry) marked whistle. issued first aid kit, the AN-6530 goggles, the A-14 oxygen mask with T-44 mic installed. issue: The tanker jacket and pants/coveralls (shown folded in front), the B-3 life preserver, the B-8 parachute with the U.S. Additional RAF items shown above are the 1940 pattern flying boots, the white silk gloves worn under the 1943 pattern gloves and the RAF 1942 pattern type C helmet. The RAF first aid kit did not replace the standard issue first aid kit tied to every parachute, but was an addition. The RAF first aid kit shows up in the 20th and 364th FGs and possibly more. My figure is based on the many pilots of the 20th and 55th FGs. (F-1) Shown above is one example of what fighter pilots wore late 1943 into the first half of 1944. Another FNV Log.
I should've realized just how important DAM is long ago yet somehow it just didn't click.
Started using a hunting rifle against Caesar's assassins and other heavily armored assholes and man have I been destroying.
Caesar's boys are getting upgrades. Not enough to beat me now but they're upgrades nonetheless.
Cazadars are the exception. They just. Fucking hell.
Anyway, I beat up the Deathclaw Alphas. Not honorably, just picked them off from afar but I did beat them. Took 80 .308 rounds to clean out that place. I will never financially recover.
Stole a ranger's revolver off some guy who shot himself. Hooo boy does that thing hit hard. Just wish I had the ammo for it.
Howdy partner.
Cleared some vaults. Vault 11 and that one with the bigass mantes. They... hit harder than I thought they would.
Found a Fat Man.
Found MKII combat armor off a dead corpse, pretty handy. Hope I find some other gear to repair it with.
I wish I remembered what the inbetweens of "vilified" and "idolized" were.
I crashed 3 times in 90 minutes. That's a new record.
Where the fuck do I buy ammo
I should buy mods for my guns. That might help a bit.
NCR Rangers have some good gear. I really wish I could swipe some rn without betraying them.
Imperialism, whooo
I killed Motor Runner. Dunno if I said that in my last one of these.
Why does my helmet have built-in sunglasses?
I wonder how well I'd fare against lakelurks now.
I... don't know how I feel about the Khans. Might slaughter their faction, might leave them be.
I've been spoilered. This truly is the worst timeline.
I wish I could use my 10mm in higher-leveled areas.
Visiting the dam was weirdly anticlimactic. Expected there to be like a headquarters but nah. Just some highly-fortified area.
Do the powder gangers ever come back? I kinda raided their prison and uh. Was excited to see them be a relatively present threat but nah. They just dead. Also don't answer that.
I'm struggling in this game. I cannot imagine how difficult hardcore mode is. Can't wait til that playthrough.
I haven't even visted Las Vegas yet and I'm like, late mid-game strong. I've been everywhere around it just not it.

Out-Dated Review: Iron Man
A decade ago life was a bit more simple. I was turning 15 and besides finding time to play GTA IV and high school I didn't have a care in the world. My birthday was never a big deal but earlier that year I got my first PS3 and was desperate to start a Blu Ray collection. I told my mother the one thing I wanted for a gift that year was Iron Man. She delivered. That night after reading the case over a dozen times me and my best friend would sit down and watch the movie that jump started the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At the time I knew as little as you could about Ironman. I spent most of my time reading Spider-Man, X-men and Batman comics so the only things I really knew about Tony Stark was that he was a rich alcoholic and was really prevalent in 2006s Civil War which was in my backlog of comics. Going into this movie I really had nothing to go on besides the great reviews it was getting and that I was always excited to see a comic book character get their chance on the big screen. After credits rolled like many people my expectations were blown away. I watched it again and again enjoying every minute of it. I then dove into my comic backlog and read Civil War and any other Ironman story I could find. It’s safe to say that the first Ironman reinvigorated my and many others love for comics, all while starting a universe that would have as deep of lore as the comics they adapted from.
So ten years later, does Ironman hold up?
(SPOILERS)
Lets start things off with the story.
We’re introduced to Playboy Billionaire Weapons Designer/Manufacturer Tony Stark and he’s just as much as cocky jerk as you would think he’d be. Skipping out on an award presented to him so he could gamble, sleeping with a reporter who’s writing a hit piece on his company and giving little care to the crew of his private plane as he arrives late for its departure. Couple this with how he almost gloats at the amount of death and destruction his weapons bring you would be safe to assume that Tony is unremarkable cliche villain, except he’s not.
I don’t know if it’s his charm alone, his acting chops or how relatable he is to the character but Robert Downy Jr. makes Tony Stark probably one of the most believable and entertaining personality in the MCU. He brings so much life and fun to Tony even before his good guy turn in this movie. Easily stealing every scene he’s in, RDJ was undoubtedly destined to play Tony Stark.
Speaking of good guy turns.
Things go astray for Tony after a weapon presentation in Afghanistan as he’s fatally injured and kidnapped by a terrorist group known as The Ten Rings (more on them later). He awakes in a cave with a car battery attached to his chest, powering an electromagnet that’s keeping the shrapnel away from his heart and other vital organs. Parties amirite? He’s made aware that The Ten Rings are his “loyal customers” and have been using all his weaponry and is then forced to build them his latest weapon. Tony reluctantly agrees and uses the supplies and resources to build something a bit more powerful, a miniaturized Arch Reactor. An invention of his fathers that’s used to power a factory, Tony designed his to be a little more compact. It has enough power to keep the magnet [in his chest] charged for a thousand lifetimes or something big for ten minutes.
Thus Ironman is born.
Even for ten years old at this point, the CGI still holds up. The suits in this movie, whether it’s the Mk I, II or III all look fantastic and just completely seamless. I never once even questioned if they built an actual prop suit or not, it looked so good i assumed they did. Coincidentally the first Ironman is the only movie they actually built the full suit, every subsequent movie they used mo-cap primarily.
After 3 months using only weapon parts and presumably some scrap metal Tony builds the Mk I and kicks some serious ass in his escape. He’s quickly reunited with his friends and coworkers back in the States and damn does he want a burger. Also he announces very publicly he’s done with making and selling weapons. This is Tony’s big turn, he realizes the real cost of him profitting off war with his weapons and decides he is alone responsible for making things right. His business partner and his deceased fathers long time friend Obadiah Stane advises him to lay low for awhile after crashing his companies stock with his big announcement.
The Stark Employee Roster.
RDJ may steal the whole show but Ironman boasts a pretty big and talented cast. Gwenneth Paltrow as the remarkable and composed assistant to Stark Pepper Potts, she’s a joy to have on screen and perfectly bounces dialogue off RDJ. Terrence Howard plays Stark's best friend and military liaison Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Howard plays this character really cool and I have a hard time seeing Rhodey as much as I see Terrence Howard. His chemistry with RDJ is phenomenal off the bat though, something that takes Cheadle & RDJ about another movie or so to get right. Paul Bettany lends his soothing voice to articulate Siri knock-off known as JARVIS. While his role obviously becomes more expanded upon in later films, Bettany brings a simple yet appealing approached to the A.I. here that pairs well with Tony’s persona. Rounding it out you have the rugged Jeff Bridges playing Tony’s mentor and eventual madman Obadiah Stane. Bridges brings something to this role that I can’t quite put my finger on, he just fully leans into this character and I can feel his presence on screen. He does however have a very sudden change of character entering the third act, he goes from conniving business man to super villain so abruptly I may have whiplash (wink) now.
Bored and nothing to do.
Stark finds himself in isolation and does the only thing his obsessive brain lets him do, work. He begins designing and testing an updated version of the suit he escaped imprisonment with. The Mk II is a thinner, shinier and more airborne suit than its predecessor. It just isn't up to snuff for Tony though, so after a quick flight test with some icing issues, he completely redesigns the suit. After seeing on TV that someone is throwing a party without him, Tony decides laying low just isn’t for him and crashes the party. Thankfully the party is hosted by Stark Industries so Tony can just walk in with no real problem. It’s here that Tony learns that his mentor and friend Obadiah Stane filed an injunction against him and is trying to force him out of the company and may be dealing weapons under the table.
Tony decides take the moral high ground and hops in his new suit the MkIII which must be the coolest getting dressed montage I’ve ever seen, then flies for 6 hours back to Afghanistan. He proceeds to just ruin the Ten Rings day by destroying their weapon caches, which include plenty of Tony's own weapons. After surely making the locals think he’s some sort of alien or metal angel he flies back home, only to be intercepted by two fighter jets. What ensues is an entertaining little game of cat and mouse for a minute until Rhodey, whose job is seemingly just to be convenient to Tony shows up and Tony informs him he is in the suit that the fighters are chasing. Rhodes clears everything up as a trainig exorcise and Tony makes it home.
It’s here our big reveal happens, Obadiah is a bad guy and he hired the Ten Rings to kill Tony but they didn’t like the deal, so they altered it like Vader. Now they want to alter it even further and have Obadiah build them Metal Soldiers like the one Tony escaped with.  Obidiah smiles and politely kills this faction of the Ten Rings and figures he might as well build his own suit with his own arch reactor.
Back at the factory while speaking to his team of scientists about their inability to replicate Tony’s miniaturized Arch Reactor, Jeff Bridges delivers the best line in the movie.
“TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAAAVE, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS”
After this everything starts to happen real fast. Pepper finds a video that directly incriminates Obadiah, he panics and politely tries to kill tony, Rhodes shows up to try and save a dying Tony but he already saved him self. Once he catches his breath Tony hops in his suit to go find Obadiah. Terrence Howard takes a look at the MkII and decides it’s better that Don Cheadle gets to use it. Pepper while accompanied by some agents finds Obadiah's lab only then to be ambushed by Obadiah in a what can only be described as the offspring on the hulk-buster armour and war machine, Iron Monger.
Tony flies in with no time to spare and saves Pepper. A street fight ensues between Iron Man and Iron Monger with them chucking cars at one another. This fight seems oddly small scale now, having been spoiled by the massive fights we’ve seen in recent MCU movies. The smaller scale and one on one fight does feel more personal though and given that this is Iron Mans first outing it makes sense.
The fight goes airborne after Tony realizes he’s no match for the strength of the Iron Monger suit. Much to Tony’s surprise Obadiah has upgraded his suit as well and its now able sustain flight but as a call back to earlier in the film, the Iron Monger suit has an icing problem in higher atmosphere. Tony's suit begins to lose power as they fall back to the roof of the Stark factory. Tony sabotages Obadiah's suit so he cant shoot straight and Obadiah squishes Tony's helmet. Rude. The two men begin to fight with there wits and the bare minimum of their suits. Tony tells pepper to overload the Arch Reactor beneath him and Obadiah and after Tony begs she pushes the bug red button. Boom. Obadiah's suit short circuits and he falls to his death into the Arch Reactor causing it to explode.
I am Iron Man
I gotta give credit to this movies ending. Setting itself up like Tony is going to become your average secret identity super hero but in perfect Tony Stark fashion it subverts that by Tony declaring to the world he is Iron Man. It’s easily one the most memorable moments in all of the MCU. We also get our first name drop of SHIELD here, which at the time blew my mind because up until then super hero movies were so self contained. Credits roll and a Marvel tradition is born as the credits finish and we’re given another scene as Tony walks into his house to see a someone standing in his living room. NICK MF FURY.
“Think you’re the only super hero in the world? Mr.Stark you’ve become part of a bigger universe, you just don’t know it yet.”
One of the single most important lines in all of the MCU. When I saw this my 15 year old brain melted and while at the time I was ignorant to who owned what in regards to film rights my mouth foamed over the idea of all marvel characters existing together in a shared movie universe. It only took ten years and a couple billion dollars but all the marvel are finally gonna share a universe together.
Does it work?
With full retrospective Iron Man is your cut and paste Phase 1 MCU origin movie where the bad guy is basically just a different color pallet than the good guy, which is totally fine. There’s a reason they use that formula, it establishes characters perspective and personality along with their skill set to the audience. It could be because it was the first or just the combination of Favreau and RDJ and all the other cogs in the machine but no movie uses that formula better than Iron Man. I’m in awe of how much fun I had with this movie, I highly recommend going back and watching it again if you haven't recently. It holds up as it’s own movie but with the added benefit that you can clearly see how the whole MCU evolved from the style of Iron Man.
VERDICT
You should already own this, go make some pop corn and watch this./10
