It sort of irritates me when people act like Doof is such a great dad. When canon explicitly tells us the opposite.
I don't mean to say Doof doesn't care, he does. Very much so. But just caring doesn't make him a good dad. It just makes him a decent person. Vanessa loves him very much. But love isn't the only thing needed to be a good parent.
I see people cite the Mary McGuffin doll, and him spending years tracking it down as proof of him being a good dad. And it does tell us (and Vanessa) he cares, but it also tells us how out of touch he is with Vanessa's actual wants and needs. Vanessa is 16. She doesn't really want the doll anymore. The doll only has meaning to her because of the effort he put into it. Proof he has actually listened to something she was saying even if it was nearly 10 years ago. Doof has set the bar that low that Vanessa feels so attached to this one gift. In Vanessa's own words he is a substandard dad. She is biased, due to the way he embarasses her, but she's not wrong as often he can't even be bothered to actually listen to her.
He took her to Tokyo instead of Paris for his own interests. He tried to erase Vanessa's memory in order to make himself look better to her. He compared her (or rather Candace's) fashion sense to a clown. He set up a little girl's party when she was 16 and didn't even know she considered herself to be punk.
He tries, oh does he try. But without listening to Vanessa he can't actually do anything for her. His few successes are often facillitated by Perry who does. This lack of listening is at the center of the finale, where it almost causes him to lose her completely. When he finally listens he can finally start connecting with her, and not only that he realizes other things about the way he's been living. And this is something Vanessa, his 16 yr old daughter is telling him. Vanessa is being her dad's therapist and that's not necessarily fair to her.
And in Milo Murphy's Law when he moves in with the Murphys he continues to cross boundaries and not listen to people (particularly the household's teenage girl), acting in many ways more like an overgrown child than a parent himself. And in Vanessa's appearance she's still cleaning up after him and playing couple's therapist with him and Perry.
And don't even get me started on how Doof treats Norm, who recognizes Doof as his father only for Doof to constantly belittle him and refuse to treat him like a son. (Not unlike his own parents). Doof does seem to care for Norm, but that doesn't mean the other stuff he does doesn't exist.
This is especially egregious since PnF and MML have lots of great parents. Lawrence knows about and sometimes goes along with his boys shenanigans and often inspires them. He and Candace may not always be on the same page, but he makes and effort to include her, to try and spend time with her. In regards to Mary McGuffin, Lawrence may have not known Candace still cared about her doll, but he gave her more money than he made off of it to try and make it up to her when he realized that she did.
Martin is someone Milo admires, taught him how to deal with Murphy's Law, who left to give Milo his moment in Athledecamathalon and has otherwise offered his full support to Milo and dedicated time to spend with him. We see less of his interactions with Sara, but he's aparently the one who got her into Dr. Zone, and he understands Murphy's Law can be hard on her too and makes efforts to stay away from her when she needs space. He knows when to cheer his kids on and when to step back.
Dave Grant, Beppo Brown, Richard Chase and Roman Carter are all among the many father characters who seem to have a more healthy relationship with their kids than Doof. Not to mention the grandfathers. None of these parents are necessarily perfect but they are good parents.
I love Doof. He's a great character and a loving father. But he's not a great parent and that's part of what makes him a good character. Makes his interactions with his family fun. The functional dysfunction of it all. He's not simply a good or bad parent. But he's certainly not great.

Hi,
So I saw a post where someone mentions a Milo Murphy’s law dnd au u made, could you plz sum it up for me?
OH BOY THERE'S A LOT GOING ON THERE
To put it VERY simply, the AU revolves around Milo (Sorcerer), Zack (Bard), and Melissa (Monk, though in hindsight, I wish I had made her a fighter) going on a journey after their town is attacked and Martin is mysteriously drained of his negative probability magic. Bradley (Ranger) and Amanda (Cleric) end up joining the party soon after, albeit for different reasons. Luck and probability is a direct form of magic in this world and people are very aware of it.
Also Cavendish and Dakota are adventurers in the B plot who end up getting a highly specific bounty from basically the only person willing to hire them at this point. And yet for some reason, things keep going disastrously wrong every time they get close to their target.
There's a lot of timelines and some fairly scattered lore and plot points, but that's the basic gist! You can find a bit more about it by searching the #mml dnd au, tag. Feel free to ask more about it if you'd like!

Description:
Shortly after its establishment, the precarious location of the Maclnir Commonwealth meant its leaders sought ever better defences. Even as the Nilgaard Feifdom’s territories were fortified and saw huge urban renewal programs, the Commonwealth’s leaders sought a means to defend its small fleet of JumpShips after attaining a heavily damaged YardShip for its use. Hoping to repeat the Taurian Concordat’s famous Concordat-class Heavy Frigate design, the Exodus was constructed to be fast, hard hitting, and allow for the rapid deployment of DropShips onto enemy targets.
Initially utilising the Suffren as a guideline, the result was a semi-effective Frankenstein design that nevertheless met their intended goals. Fast, durable, and capable of engaging targets at vast ranges, the Exodus was nevertheless a costly investment even for a Warship. Difficulties in combining tech of various origins meant that the ship’s internal systems were often temperamental, and the design still struggled to keep pace with ship development of larger powers.
The ship is still in use now, with the first in service while a second is close to completing construction. However, efforts to refine the design means that it will likely soon fall by the wayside in favour of either designs emulated from other powers or upgraded builds.
Armament
The Exodus was intended to arrive in warzones and actively engage targets while supporting orbital assaults. To this end, much of the ship’s arsenal has been built with extreme range engagements in mind. A mix of prow-mounded naval PPCs and AR-10s allows the ship to offer heavy far reaching bombardments, while both its armour plating and considerable array of AMS systems deal with returning fire. Even so, the mix of medium-range weapons such as Gauss Rifles further bolsters its firepower against targets that close the distance. Steady point defence efforts from missile launchers further deters aerospace attacks, with many of these situated about the spinal DropShip launch areas.
Three aft-mounted launch bays are situated toward the back of the vessel, situated away from the primary engagement angles of the Exodus, and allowing for the rapid launch of its additional support craft.
Capacity
The Exodus has three primary cargo bays, utilised to hold thirty small craft along with a full marine battalion.
The ship is typically accompanied by a combination of Stingray aerospace fighters, Hrothgar-class DropShips (the blueprints of which were attained thanks to a munitions and information trade with unknown parties), and Duat-class DropShips recovered from the Inner Sphere.
---
This is the third sort-of Battletech related piece I've churned out, and the first on a ship. While I didn't plan upon going down the Special Snowflake route with the Maclnir Commonwealth, after the deeply flawed but semi-effective design of the Siege Perilous, I felt that the leaders would push to make WarShips ASAP. So, as a result, here's something they'd likely churn out given their technological edge and industrial base. A frigate built with the intent of hitting hard, taking hits in return, and outrunning anything of a similar tonnage that it can't outfight. Along with adapting existing designs and any tech I could justify them having, I tried to set it up as something that would be highly effective on paper, but would have a few severe design flaws that might force it to be retired after a time.
After all, just because they've got an edge in terms of knowledge and resources most in the Deep Periphery currently lack, it doesn't meant they'll get things right the first time.
I imagine after this they'd probably end up looking into Pocket WarShips to help bulk out their early fleet, like the Word of Blake's Interdictors, in another ironic twist given their origins opposing that group. Still, that will have to be done at a time I can focus upon setting out and adding another chapter into their story.
Also, as a final note, the Hrothgar-class Dropship's stats were dreamed up by SlingBlade87, so please check it out on his account.

WHERE: Private dining room at the Hippodrome Casino WHEN: February 7, 2021, Sunday, evening WEARING: this WITH: @kyungxsoon
Jessica didn’t want to go home yet. Saturday nights were nights she’d once reserved entirely for fun, with open invitations to cousins and friends for a wild night out—or, when she was particularly exhausted from a long work week, an utterly indulgent dinner. But with a gang war on, something had changed in how Jessica perceived the spaces in which she could safely exist. It wasn’t as if she had a curfew, but the new rules instituted within Famine made even venturing into neutral territory feel fraught with danger. The swimwear launch event she’d attended the day before had been a little taste of how things were changing: charming guilty pleasures being unmasked as superficial, her family’s protectiveness over her adapting into concrete measures that inconvenienced not only her, but also those around her.
Honestly, being protected used to be cute. Having a chauffeur trained in weaponry gave her what school friends had jokingly called street cred—though she was sure they were using the term wrong—while her ever-rotating shift of bodyguards was always a topic of thirsty conversation among friends and coworkers alike. (It was a running joke that Jess chose her bodyguards based on their faces, which wasn’t true; she chose them based on their bodies, too. And their educational attainment! Alright, that train of thought wasn’t going anywhere.) The youngest Femenias had gained her security team’s loyalty over the years—and in some cases, a quiet sort of friendship—from working with them rather than against them, like other heiresses did. Remembering their children’s birthdays and graduation days. Treating them like normal people, which they were. But she supposed that they’d begun to feel like accessories rather than what they needed to be for her: a final bulwark between Jessica and the danger that being part of Famine invited.
After the bloodshed at the Thames, Jessica knew she had to be more deliberate about the places she chose to visit. Fortunately, the Hippodrome Casino was one of her gang’s remaining locations, and it had an attraction that Jessica loved: the Magic Mike live show.
As a member of the Femenias family, Jessica could technically have the front row all to herself anytime she wanted—an offer she had taken advantage of at a bachelorette party or two—but tonight, she didn’t want to be seen, not really. So after slipping into the theatre late and watching a good half-hour of the show from an upper box—she’d seen it all before, but sometimes a girl just needed a good laugh—she made her way back out and into one of the private rooms in the casino’s steakhouse, leaning back in her plush chair and peering out of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the casino below.
Jessica had texted Kyung-Soon earlier that afternoon that she would be coming in for a late dinner before heading home—an attempt to make the week feel even the teeniest bit normal in the midst of all the emotions she was feeling—and it was after ordering her usual that she saw the casino’s manager arrive. Her lips tilted up into a genuine smile; she’d seen Ky at the estate at least a couple of times over the past week, but with all the developments, from her uncle’s recovery to Ikki’s promotion, they hadn’t exactly had time to catch up.
Tumblr media
“Hey, y’know what I’ve learned over the past week?” Jessica asked by way of greeting, before gesturing at the MML performance flyer slipped into the menu which featured a dozen impressively shirtless men. “The only good guns are these guns.” The grin on her face was an attempt at levity, and she tapped one of the men on the flyer, whose charming smile nearly distracted her from everything else he was packing. “Say, how’s Ross doing? Do you know if he’s still single?”
Despite the light, teasing tone, however, there was worry in Jessica’s eyes, and after standing to give Ky a cheek kiss, motioned for Ky to join her at the table. “How are you doing? I know you’re used to late nights, but the past few days have been something else.”

Christmas Kisses
Hey @thenonhater! I made a Christmas time Dakavendish fic for ya for the mml Christmas exchange! Unfortunately, the runners of blog and I couldn’t get the specifics of what you wanted to show up cause tumblr is a jerk, but I hope you like it!
——————
Cavendish adored Christmas. Was absolutely in love with the holiday. The lights, the decorations, the giving and receiving of presents, he loved it all. But what he felt the most fond of during this time of year was Santa Claus.
When Cavendish was a wee boy, he remembered writing to Santa constantly and asking him for help on how to save the world. In fact, when he was told by his parents that Santa was just an imaginary idol to bring joy to small children, Cavendish had ended up crying for a whole hour. He believed and loved Santa that much.
Seeing his partner Dakota dressed up as the man in red and entertaining the kids with bad holiday jokes during the Murphy’s Christmas party made Cavendish’s heart swell in fondness. And possibly a little lust, but Cavendish was ignoring that particular emotion until the day he died. Of course Dakota would be able to make a Santa suit look attractive, he did that with his bloody tracksuit every day, but Cavendish digresses.
He was currently watching Dakota make Milo snort eggnog through his nose with a joke about a bird’s favorite Christmas movie. Melissa laughed at Milo and Zack patted his boyfriend’s back, grimacing at the horrible joke. Dakota gave him a paper towel from the snack table and apologized though struggled to keep from smiling himself. Then Dakota looked over by Cavendish and waved him over. Shaking his head, he headed towards the group, arms crossed in fake annoyance. The kids waved, saying a variety of greetings and Cavendish spoke warmly with a simple hello.
“Mr.Cavendish, did you see how much eggnog Came out of nose?! I think it’s a new record for me!” Milo exclaimed.
“I did indeed, Murphy. Congratulation, I suppose…?”
“Thanks! But I don’t think I could beat my great uncle Silas though. He once shot lemonade out of his nose so hard it hit a car despite him sitting on the porch. I hope one day to be as great him.”
“Not gonna lie, Milo, your uncle sounds cool as shit,” Dakota said, obviously impressed with Melissa nodded in agreement.
Zack shook his head, voice filled with adoration, “Milo, you are such a nerd.”
Moving swiftly, Milo pecked him on the cheek and replied, “I’m the cutest nerd and ya know you love me.”
A deep blush covered Zack’s face, saying “you know it” before before snuggling into Milo’s shoulder.
Dakota cooed at the new couple while Melissa commented, “It should be illegal to be that adorable guys, seriously holy shiiiiii-shoot.”
Cavendish raised an eyebrow at Melissa while Dakota busted a gut in laughter.
“Hey, I said shoot! In the end…”
Dakota wipes a tear of mirth away. “Don’t worry kid, I won’t say anything about your slip of the tongue.”
“But I thought you were ‘Santa.’”
“Well, Santa says saying swearing is cool now. Read it and weep parents of the world.”
Cavendish smacked his partner’s arm. “Dakota! Did you just bring me over here to show me what a horrendous role model you are?”
The kids chuckled as Dakota replied, “Heh, I wouldn’t have brought you over here if that was the case,” ignoring Cavendish’s disapproving glare, he continued, “No, I actually have a joke for you.”
“I have heard the last twenty… well, the word ‘jokes’ is too kind of a description for the phrases you have been saying,” Cavendish said with a curling smirk.
Dakota gave a withering look as the kids went “OHHHHH” with Melissa adding a “sick burn, bro!” in there.
“Ha ha, very funny Cav. But no, this one is going to blow your mind. Are you ready Milo?”
Milo nodded enthusiastically.
“Alright,” Dakota began, “what is the best amphibian to kiss under?”
Cavendish rolled his eyes and sighed deeply, “Which amphibian would be the best, Dakota?”
Sporting a cheesy grin and doing jazz hands, Dakota replied, “A mistle toad!”
With that said, Milo pulled out a beanie baby toad with a mistletoe taped to its head and tucks it into Dakota’s Santa hat.
It was just so ridiculous and stupid and cute and just so genuine that Cavendish couldn’t help but laugh. He laughed so hard that Cavendish began to wheeze as he crouched forward, prompting Dakota and the kids to worry.
“Shit, you okay, babe?” Dakota asked, kneeling next to his partner.
After rubbing the tears away from his face, cavendish gently cupped his partner’s face and whispered, “I’m perfect, love,” before kissing his partner square on the lips.
Zack and Milo awed while Melissa exclaimed, “OH COME ON!! IT’S TOO CUTE I’M GOING TO DIE!!”
The two separated, faces flushed and small smiles gracing their lips. Cavendish has always loved Christmas, but this moment makes the holiday all the more precious to him.

MML Commentary: Look at this Ship/Cast Party
oh look, more milo episodes i will watch and probably forget immediately after, but since i feel the need to stay updated here we go
Look at this Ship:
Honestly hearing the theme song is surreal at this point
Okay, the “be down in a minute” voice gag was funny
Balthazar T Cavendish, heh
Cavendish finds the alien ship, bam
Aaaaand Doof is there with Dakota. Just when I was feeling I could get into this. At least Doof hasn’t been annoying... yet
Ah we’re doing THIS with Cavendish and the alien ship... this is pretty typical fare
And Doof is being annoying, of course
Zack and Melissa have their game and one of the answers is the “Otherdimensionater” from “that movie with that one guy”... I was like OH but then I was like “...oh”. Shrek voice: CAN YOU NOT REFERENCE PNF FOR FIVE MINUTES?
“Something that oozes from your body but it’s not all that unpleasant”. Well THAT sounds kinda dirty, don’t ya think? And of course they cut it off before they answer it... yeah, I think they want to see whose mind is in the gutter.
Wait so it’s just Murphy’s Law that’s the answer? Look, I think Murphy’s Law CAN sometimes be unpleasant. :v
Dakota and Doof insulting each other’s voices... of course they did that. Not as funny as it could’ve been given how much PnF fatigue the show has.
Wow, they’re not on the same page at all. Doof makes Dakota look like Cavendish. Also, Doof being a screw up as usual.
NO NOT THE FUCKING RACCOON UGH... honestly I’m so tired I don’t even have the energy to be mad, and of course he’s just there to screw with Cavendish by making the ship fly for a moment
Okay that Dakota and Doof thing there felt poorly paced, like last scene they get mad at each other but now we immediately cut to their resolution. It feels rushed and forced, kind of? The payoff doesn’t feel earned to me for some reason, it’s like they apologise just because the plot said so.
WTF was the hand slapping thing Melissa was doing with Zack? Also Milo finally comes out I guess, and the ship lands but not before trapping the trio in Milo’s room because lol.
Yeah, standard fare, a few moments were fine I guess but overall it’s just “meh”.
Cast Party:
Zack does interpretive dance once and breaks his leg... okay
Let me guess, they’re all faking their casts because they want to make Zack feel better.
So did they actually break them all for real, or is this the act? Given this is Milo then I guess it probably is real, lol.
These stories aren’t doing anything for me, though Mildred being “okay” was kinda funny.
Melissa does martial arts, huh. Also a connected story to Sara.
“You don’t know everything about me” oh ha ha it’s the thing again she said the thing
wait what the hell was that with zack just that one moment
Ah so the stories are connected because everyone is doing something they enjoy but things screw up anyway, and that’s for Zack to realise he shouldn’t give up just because something might go wrong, very MML, it’s nice I guess
ah so they were all connected in the end
Another “meh”, now time to suddenly forget about these episodes lol

MML Secret Santa
Here’s my MML Secret Santa entry for @darkwingsnark
Dakota stared up at the ceiling while lying in his bed, thinking over the holiday party. It was supposed to have been a joyous day...
So what happened?
He rolled over with a sigh and found his mind wandering to the party—the first go around, at least... How many times did he go back to that party? He only remembered one trip to the past, but it looked like his future self had gone there a few dozen times. Or...not at all, since the fight never escalated too horribly?
(Why did they disappear like that even though he’d never disappeared from the time stream before?)
Finally he sat up and climbed out of bed. Once his thoughts started getting like this, sleep became inaccessible, so he wouldn’t even bother wasting his time lying down in the dark. Besides, he was feeling a bit munchy... There had to be something around here somewhere...
“Dakota? What are you doing up?”
Right, Cavendish was there. How could he have forgotten that?
“It’s nothing, Cavendish. Go back to sleep.”
When he didn’t hear a response, Dakota sighed and continued getting up and made his way out of the room towards the kitchen. Just a quick midnight snack and maybe back to bed...
He couldn’t even open a cabinet before Cavendish’s voice interrupted him again.
“Didn’t you eat enough at dinner?”
“It’s nothing you need to worry about.”
Cavendish rolled his eyes and walked over to put his hand on the cabinet, keeping Dakota from opening it. “Dakota, it’s the middle of the night. Your snacking can wait until morning. Let’s head back to bed now, alright?”
Dakota shook his head and stepped back to put some distance between himself and Cavendish. “I’m just not tired, Cav. Alright? So just drop it.”
When Cavendish didn’t answer, Dakota let out a slow breath to calm down. The whole thing wasn’t his fault—not entirely, anyway. After all, he didn’t know...
“You know, I understand that you have things you don’t wish to share with me. However, I can’t comfortably allow you to hide things causing you distress.”
“Cavendish, I’m fine—you don’t need to worry about me.” Dakota leaned against a counter and crossed his arms while thinking, ‘You’re the one who needs to be worried about...’
Cavendish sighed and rolled his eyes as he leaned against the cabinet in a similar fashion as Dakota. “You are my partner, Vinnie. I’m going to worry about you when you’re hurting yourself like this.”
“I’m fine!”
Both men jumped at the exclamation, and Dakota quickly pressed a hand to his forehead to help calm himself down. “I’m sorry, Cavendish... I just...”
“It’s fine, Dakota. I don’t like you bottling your problems. After all, I know you’re not one to get angry over something as trivial as an eggroll. Not to mention you’ve admitted to stress eating before...”
“It’s nothing you need to worry about.” Dakota took a deep breath and continued, “I just have a lot on my mind—stuff unrelated to our missions.”
“But it’s still affecting you.”
Dakota shook his head slightly and ran his fingers through is tangled curls. “Let’s just go back to bed. Knowing Block, we’ll have another assignment in the morning.”
Cavendish sighed and adjusted his glasses at the statement. “Dakota, this problem’s not just gonna go away if you ignore it.”
“Didn’t say it would. But we’ve got a good system going on right now. Let’s not ruin it.” Before Cavendish could protest the idea, Dakota turned and started heading back to the bedroom, earning another sigh from Cavendish.
He honestly wished he could figure out what was going on in his partner’s mind...

Or maybe you might be musically inclined and would like to do a cover of a song from the episode. Or if editing video /acting out a scene from the episode is you thing, I suppose you can do that too. Anything you want, as long as it is PG, (my younger cousins check out my blog) Please tell me two days(or More) in advance for the episode you want! and when you finish, please tag it with MMLNewYear, and if you want to mention my blog @milomurphysblawg, that would be nice too, that way I don’t miss your entry. Thanks again to all the people (or pistachions) who signed up already, and I hope more of you want to participate!

I think we all know by now that Candace is the real main character of Phineas and Ferb. While on first glance, our title characters are the real protagonists, and thus, Candace who desires their downfall is an antagonistic force to them. And its true, Candace CAN BE antagonistic towards them but protagonist and antagonist are really defined in terms of a stories framing, and as established she's more of the protagonist which would make Phineas and Ferb the antagonists. But Phineas and Ferb never really go against Candace. In their eyes, Candace isn't an antagonist, she's their cool big sister, who's sometimes a little weird, but always loves them, and so very rarely is anything they do is meant to antagonize her.
Really breaking PnF characters into protagonists and antagonists isn't really helpful when looking at the show. PnF has a wide variety of characters with their own wants and needs, these needs can conflict with each other, but we are never truly lead to root for one character over another (see Finding Mary McGuffin, or Vanessasary Roughness). Sure, we might not want Doof to succeed in taking over the tri-state area, or to see the boys get in trouble. But we also don't really want Candace's mom to think she's crazy, and we don't really want Doof to be arrested either. Major Monogram is a bit of an asshole, despite being the "Big Good". Perry costs Doof a fortune in repair bills. Buford is a bully whose secretly rather soft. I think the fact that both Vanessa and Candace want to "Bust someone", and this desire is often treated with equal amounts of respect. But Candace wants to bust her fun loving little brothers, and Vanessa wants to stop her evil father says a lot. If Vanessa's a good guy, then so is Candace, and if Vanessa's a bad guy for wanting to stop her dad, then does that make Perry bad too?
Candace and Doof, the surface level antagonists, are merely the ones who are screwed over by "Mysterious Force". Candace may see herself and her brothers as antagonists towards each other, but ultimately, it's her low self-esteem and a universe that treats her unfairly that are her true antagonist. Doof may see himself and Perry as enemies, but ultimately Doof's REAL antagonist is his own lack of planning and feeling obligated to seek revenge for his tragic backstories.
It's not that there are never antagonists. Buford often acted as an antagonist in earlier episodes. Thaddeus, Thor and Mandy in that one episode. And Doof is very much a antagonist to Perry most of the time, and aside from Doof, we're given to real reason to root for other evil scientists such as Poofenplotz who does act as a more one sided villain. Brigitte the fireside girl was an antagonist to Buford without being evil that one episode.
There are plenty of antagonists in MML and H&G. In Milo we have the pistachions, Elliot, and often the time bureau (even if the latter aren't necessarily evil). And H&G has its large rouges gallery. But the closest PnF has is Doof, whose solidly a protagonist by the time MML begins.
In PnF while there is plenty of interpersonal conflict, much of it is two sided where neither party is necessarily evil, no matter how much Doof tries to be. Though his schemes do need to be stopped victory isn't necessarily what he really wants/needs. While Candace and Doof are often "punished", it is often genuinely unfairly, not necessarily karmic justice. We the audience don't necessarily feel satisfied that they got what was coming to them. (Not to say this is always the case, these two do bring most of it on themselves). A lot of the conflict is ultimately situational, rather than personal.
Though it makes sense that someone might assume Doof and Candace are the antagonists. After all if your just glancing at it, obviously the evil scientist is an antagonist. And Candace is kind of a jerk towards her younger brothers who don't deserve any of it. (Well, they mean well at least, that doesn't mean they never cause problems). But the truth of the matter is that even when characters are in opposition to each other its often a temporary thing. Doof and Perry often team up, as do Candace and the boys, Buford and Baljeet, and so on. Labeling a character an antagonist is done on a episode by episode basis, and is dependent on who your deciding to frame as a protagonist, which is often rather arbitrary.
Lots of shows (slice of life) do have casts who are sometimes in opposition to each other, and sometimes not. But I bring this up because Phineas and Ferb feels like it should have clear cut protagonists (our title characters, the super spy) and antagonists (bratty older sister stopping the fun, evil scientist, bully) but instead of demonizing one side or another, a lot of it is just. Value neutral. The two sides work together almost as often as they are "against" each other. Perry needs/enjoys fighting against Doof as much as Doof. Doof being good isn't even necessarily shown as changing Perry and Doof's relationship, or even necessarily as the "right" thing. (Just the frequency with which they beat each other up). Considering any of our main cast to be obstacles to each other misses the point of like every single special.

Interesting MML Head Cannon Discussion:
I was chatting with @noddytheornithopod about this post. The jist of which was that Milo might doubt whether he should keep traveling with Cavendish and Dakota because he’s concerned with all the chaos Murphy’s Law seems to be causing/caused to the time stream.
Noddy: not gonna lie, I've wondered about this idea myself, like I wonder if they're ever gonna explore the idea that Milo might feel like a burden for who he is despite enjoying his life.
Me: Yeah, it’s the “I’m helping by not helping” but with more angst. Like Milo wondering if he should continue traveling with Cavendish and Dakota because he sees how much Murphy’s Law traveling through time has caused so far. Even though I think he’s going to have to at least go back to 1965 to shoot the actual missing pilot episode.
Noddy: yeah I see, though I guess funny thing is even if Milo didn’t travel in time we still would’ve gotten king pistashion.
Me: Exactly.
Noddy: It would be tragic if it started a trend if he felt like he couldn’t do more after that though. Like after time travel he starts to restrain himself in other areas.
Me: I still say it’s no coincidence that the concept of Time Agents (and the formal introduction of Cavendish and Dakota) happens in the Career Day episode, when Milo is wondering what his career is going to be.
Noddy: Oh interesting, what are you thinking? That he might consider it at some point?
Me: Yeah I’m thinking there’s going to be a point where Milo is a little concerned about the chaos Murphy’ s Law is causing, but Cavendish and Dakota are like: Well, you’ve not destroyed earth’s second moon, so we think you’re actually doing very well.
Noddy: Oh wow OMG, so basically “at least you’re not us.”
Me: Basically, and Milo’s like: What are you guys talking about? How did you destroy a moon?
Noddy: Wow XD
Me: A lot of self deprecating all around.
Noddy: Dang
Me: But then they take turns offering up examples of how they’re actually doing a good job and could be great time agents. (etc.)
Noddy: Ah right, could be interesting if they go in this direction.
Me: Like sometimes you need an outside party to point out all you’ve accomplished and go: That’s awesome.
Noddy: True, I know what that's like :P

Hi! I just wanted to say I love all your posts regarding MML. Your theory on Mr. Block is genius and am 100% behind you on that actually happening. I'm also super happy you ship Zack and Melissa too. If you have any would you be willing to share more zalissa head cannons with the rest of us?
I can feel it coming in the ask tonight / Oh lord / And I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life.
They’re “just” friends all the way through high school, even though everyone sort of sees it. They love each other as friends first.
Melissa is one of these people who flirts with every guy and no one takes it seriously, it’s just good fun, it’s how she communicates. And Zack knows that perfectly well and he’s okay with it, but still, every time his turn comes up he can’t help but feel like “I HAVE BEEN CHOSEN.”
(Everybody else has noticed by now that he’s her especial target, but he has no idea.)
The first time she turns the doe eyes on him is earth-shattering, because he’d seen her do it to other people but he completely underestimated their effect at close range.
Milo: “I warned you about the doe eyes!” Zack: “I KNEW about the doe eyes!!!”
(“Who would have thought SHE’D be more dangerous than YOU?!?” “…Oh Zack, I’m not dangerous. It’s what’s near me that you’ve got to watch out for.” “…Oh no you’re right.”)
But anyway, with every year that passes he’s increasingly aware that she is not only gorgeous (he always knew that) but the most amazing girl he has ever met, just enough dangerous edge to draw him in and just enough common sense to make it worthwhile, and at the same time she’s his best friend and what they’ve built together over the years is really beautiful. So he wants that to last. It’s special.
At first he doesn’t think he has a chance because so many boys like her and lots of them are better than him, so he’s content to just be close to her in the way he always has. But eventually he realizes his one great advantage: he actually knows her. Everybody else has befriended her at a distance because of her insistence on hanging out with Milo Murphy. He was the only one who spent time with her and developed an appreciation for her as a person. And that gives him more confidence.
Fortunately she had narrowed the eligibles down to him a long time ago.
“Milo, I’m about to ask Melissa out and this is really hard for me. You hide in those bushes and provide moral support.” “Okay!” / “Milo, I think Zack’s about to ask me out and I’m kinda freaking out. You go hide in those bushes and provide moral support.” “Gotcha!”
Tree nearly falls on them seconds after she’s agreed to date him and they both yell “MILO!!!” because neither of them are going to admit that they planted him there, and he’s a great sport and doesn’t call them out on it until his Best Man speech.
(Babyproofing their whole wedding because who else is going to be the best man. “Milo, if we can’t handle Murphy’s Law for a few hours, we’re sure not gonna be able to handle being married to each other for the next seventy years. Start writing that speech, buddy”)
Lots of kids and when people say “are they all yours?” when one of them is babysitting the Murphy-Lopez children, the answer is always “Yes.”
Zack helping Melissa remember things. Leaving little post-it notes on the bathroom mirror to remind her to call the exterminator and to dress up nice for the PTA meeting because he’s going to suddenly have an emergency and drive by to pick her up halfway through and take her out to dinner.
Any time they have to do something they hate, like drive the kids out to the dentist or buy groceries for a huge party, Zack insists on calling it “the Quest” and no matter how bad a mood she’s in it always makes her laugh.
Melissa flat-out refusing to do something for Zack unless he gets down on his knees and sings “Chop Away At My Heart.”
(She had already found that video long before she pretended to have looked it up and was just needlessly torturing him the entire time they were waiting for their pizza I forgot to mention that.)

Double Date
A PnF/MML crossover. Oneshot. Read this on a full stomach. I’m kind of craving seafood now....
Perry was starting to wish he’d gone with a simple Chinese buffet per Heinz’s original suggestion. But nope.
He’d wanted a special dinner at an expensive seafood restaurant as a “congratulations, you aren’t evil anymore and we can finally have a night out without OWCA calling it a fraternization”. And he’d heard this place had excellent calamari. He couldn’t help it.
Some platypi just required a more sophisticated palette.
He’d saved up his salary for months (completely denying that he’d planned almost as extensively as Heinz once did for his schemes), scoured the Flynn-Fletcher and Doofenshmirtz couches for pocket change, and put in a reservation three weeks ago.
In short, they’d both been looking forward to this night.
Then they found out that the restaurant lost their reservation.
“What do you mean you can’t find it? Perry the Platypus booked it way ahead of time!” Heinz complained. “And believe me, I’ve seen him eat more than his weight in crab cakes before. Is it because he’s a platypus? Because I can tell you that he acts more like a tiny human. If humans had cute little webbed feet or tails, that is.”
Perry tugged on Heinz’s pant leg as he argued with the staff, silently pleading with him to not cause a scene. It was fine. They’d both live. Besides, it’s not like this was the only restaurant in the city. But his stomach was craving calamari, and he couldn’t help but chatter sadly.
Heinz glanced down, ruffling Perry’s fedora. “Come on, don’t give me that pouty beak look. That one. You know I can’t stand it.” Perry stifled a smile with his hand.
“Party of four, Murphy!” a waitress called. “Your table is ready!”
A family of four stood up from the waiting area, a chair collapsing as soon as the youngest pulled on his backpack. Perry wondered why anyone would need a heavy looking backpack inside a restaurant. Maybe he had a late day at school. “Whoops, sorry about that,” the father said. “There’s not gonna be an extra charge, right?”
“No, these chairs are easily replaceable. Don’t worry about it,” a staff member said. He turned his attention to Heinz and Perry. “Excuse me, sirs. It seems there was a glitch in the system for some reason. Now that it’s gone, a reservation for Perry popped up.”
“Yes, that’s us!” Heinz exclaimed, grinning at Perry. “And you were so worried there!”
Perry smiled up at him. So was he.
“I deeply apologize for the inconvenience. Nadia will show you to your seats,” he turned them over to a rather short woman. As she led them to their seats, Perry saw movement out the corner of his eye. There was a white tablecloth moving from underneath the long table. The restaurant patrons continued to talk, completely oblivious to it.
It continued to edge towards the back of the restaurant, where the Murphy family was seated. Perry spotted four stubby legs and a tail poking out from underneath. Well, a quadruped making its way across a restaurant would never top Perry’s list of strangest things he’d ever seen.
Their table was set up between two chairs and a long couch that extended against the wall. Perry and Heinz made themselves comfy on the couch, though Perry’s bill hovered slightly over the table. Nadia promised their server would be out soon and left to take care of other customers, leaving behind two menus.
“When the server comes out, I’ll ask for a booster seat,” Heinz said, twirling a coaster in his hand. “I don’t think anyone could possibly eat comfortably if they were in your position right now. But man am I glad that situation cleared up so quickly. I swear I was about to have an evil relapse back there. Can you get evil relapses? I mean, not you obviously. Unless someone hit you with something that made you evil. But otherwise, you don’t have the capabilities to be evil. Mean, maybe. Reserved, definitely. But not evil.”
Perry pointed to the calamari under the appetizer section. “Any chance you picked this restaurant because you wanted calamari?” Heinz smirked. Perry rolled his eyes and made a so-so gesture. “I knew it. And you won’t steal the entire dish? This is just the appetizer after all.” He raised an eyebrow. “That’s a maybe, isn’t it? You’re a good guy, Perry the Platypus. I thought you practically lived under sharing is caring!”
In Perry’s opinion, sharing is caring did not apply to food.
“Hello, my name is Henry and I’ll be your server this evening,” a young man said. “How may I get you gentlemen started?”
“Never pegged you for a gentlepus,” Heinz leaned down to whisper. Perry shoved his face away playfully. Heinz actually being a gentleman. That’d be the day. “Can we get two iced teas, both with lemon, a booster seat, and the calamari appetizer please?”
Henry jotted the order down on a notepad. “Two iced teas with lemons, a booster seat, and calamari. All right, I’ll have those ready for you. Please take all the time you need to find an entree.”
He brought out the booster seat in less than three minutes. Perry took out a cushion stored in his fedora and laid it on the seat, smoothing it out before plopping down. “My fedora didn’t come with secret compartments,” Heinz pouted. “I’m half-expecting you to pull medieval weaponry at some point. Wait. Medieval. Evil. Medieval. Course now that I’ve actually given up evil that I actually find a rhyme for it. Do you think OWCA would mind if I finished composing the rest of the jingle?”
Perry shrugged, his attention being on a pair of strange looking men. The one with a mustache to rival Major Monogram’s grumbled the entire way. He was dressed in an incredibly formal green outfit about two centuries too early. He stopped and stared toward the back of the restaurant, his fists clenching. The shorter one seemed to notice and pulled him into the couch a space away from Heinz and Perry.
“If that guy and Monobrow entered a mustache competition, who do you think would win?” Heinz asked. Perry raised a finger above his eyes. “Yeah, the unibrow would probably add a few bonus points.”
There was a loud crash from the back, and all chatter ceased as everyone watched a girl about Candace’s age standing protectively in front of her brother, blocking him from the remains of a light fixture. She turned and murmured a few quick words, the boy laughing and shrugging it off. The parents made sure they were all right before taking their seats and continuing on as if nothing had ever happened.
Perry was just glad the kid was all right.
“You get the impression that’s normal for them?” Heinz wondered. Before they could speculate more on the matter, Henry brought the calamari.
“Are you ready to order?” Henry asked with a smile.
Perry tapped the shrimp and crab combo on the menu with a chatter. “Sorry, he doesn’t talk. He’s a platypus,” Heinz said. Perry made a few more gestures, which Heinz interpreted for Henry. “He wants a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. And I’d like the rainbow trout with corn and rice.”
Henry nodded and gathered their menus. “Not an issue. We’re used to animals with fedoras eating here anyway, but most of the time it can be a challenge to actually interpret what they want. No matter. In the meantime, enjoy your calamari!”
Perry immediately claimed the marinara sauce, which earned him a scowl from Heinz. “I won’t double dip this time, I promise!”
“Hey, does that calamari taste as good as it looks?” the man next to them called. “Oh, sorry. Name’s Vinnie Dakota, by the way. There I go shooting my mouth off again.”
“Nah, I feel you,” Heinz grinned. “And yes, the calamari is pretty good. It would taste better if a certain somebody would quit hogging the sauce.”
He glared at Perry, who shrugged innocently and scooted the small bowl of marinara away from his companion. Vinnie laughed. “So you’re a platypus.  This is really cool actually. All the other ones I’ve seen around here don’t do much.”
Heinz bit into a piece of calamari. Perry winced at his decision to do introductions with a full mouth. “This is Perry the Platypus by the way. He’s my best friend. And I’m Heinz Doofenshmirtz.”
The other man scoffed and looked away, leaning on the table with an elbow.
Vinnie shot his companion a reproachful look. “Don’t be rude. We just met them. I’m really sorry about him. That sourpuss there is Balthy-”
“Balthazar Cavendish,” he grumbled. “Pleasure.”
“You’ll have to excuse him. Stressful job,” Vinnie said. “We’re in the same field.”
“So where do you work then?” Heinz asked.
“Pistachio plant.”
“Food truck company.”
Balthazar and Vinnie glanced at each frantically, before correcting themselves. “We drive food trucks from pistachio plants. You know, high demand and all. You’d be surprised how many people like pistachios,” Vinnie said.
Perry could tell they were lying, but he wasn’t sure why. But he could understand it, since he and Heinz couldn’t exactly tell random people they were secret agents who fought evil scientists on a daily basis.
“We’re agents who-” Perry threw a piece of calamari at Heinz’s face to shut him up, quickly motioning for him to make up a lie. “Um, I mean, we’re agents for a modeling business.” To Perry, he whispered, “See? I didn’t give anything away! And I’m getting payback for that piece you threw at me, just you wait.”
Perry buried his head in his arms. A modeling business was really the best he could come up with. A modeling business.
“Hey, you wanna sit over here?” Heinz asked. “There’s plenty of room. It would be easier to hold a conversation if we didn’t have to speak over a platypus in a booster seat. You don’t mind, Perry the Platypus?”
Perry shook his head. It would be good for Heinz to hold a conversation with another adult without the glowers, sarcasm, or promises of revenge.
Vinnie sat across from Heinz, and Perry tipped his hat to him. “If I had a hat, I’d tip it right back to you. Fedoras really aren’t my style. I’m thinking a top hat so I could match Balthy, but that would likely be a terrible combo with a track suit,” he said, wrapping an arm around Balthazar’s shoulders when he finally joined them.
He tuned out of the conversation as Vinnie and Heinz rapidly switched from discussing hats, food, and music. As they compared the Lumberzacks to the Phineas and the Ferbtones, Perry watched Balthazar sneak glances to the family in the back, clearly waiting for something to happen.
Perry wondered why he was interested in them. Apart from the occasional accidents that occurred around the boy, they seemed like a normal family. When Balthazar excused himself to the restroom, telling Vinnie to order for him, Perry noticed a small cell phone-like device sticking out of his back pocket.
But cell phones usually didn’t have a miniature satellite on an antenna.
He shook it off. Maybe Balthazar was an inventor. Perry couldn’t help but be a little suspicious.
“Perry the Platypus, hey, Perry the Platypus,” Heinz singsonged, poking him in the side with an index finger. Perry let out a throaty growl at being jabbed, snapping at the offending finger, only for his bill to close on empty air. Heinz clutched his finger protectively. “I only wanted to know your favorite Love Handel song.”
Vinnie laughed. “Balthy acts the same way sometimes, only a little more uptight. And he says biting people is uncouth, but he probably only means that literally. At least yours doesn’t threaten to strangle random things with teabag strings.”
Henry came around again, bringing out Heinz and Perry’s orders on a large serving dish. As Vinnie ordered two salmon dishes, Perry pushed an entire shrimp into his mouth, spitting out the now-meatless tail back onto his plate.
Heinz wrinkled his nose in disgust. “Table manners always go out the window when there’s shrimp involved. Ugh.” Perry smirked at him. “If you make me lose my appetite while we’re here, that’s an extra dish you’re paying for.”
“You haven’t seen me around Mexican food,” Vinnie chuckled. “There’s a reason Balthy always vetoes burritos when I bring it up.”
Heinz voiced the question Perry had also been thinking. “So why do you work with him if he’s so disagreeable? Reminds me of this guy we work with. If he was British. And wore outdated clothes.”
Before Vinnie could reply, Balthazar came back from the restroom. “Did you order already?” he asked.
“I played it safe and ordered salmon for both of us,” Vinnie replied.
“Good,” Balthazar said, not noticing the others sneak glances as they tried to find another topic. Finally, Perry offered them the rest of the calamari. There were only a few pieces left, but it would be enough to hold them over until their food arrived. Vinnie accepted, thanking Perry with a full mouth. Balthazar grimaced at Vinnie spraying crumbs all over the table, using a cloth to wipe it off. “I suppose he isn’t letting go of that marinara sauce.”
In response, Perry moved his mashed potatoes over and dumped the rest of the marinara sauce on his plate, sliding the tiny bowl over with a flick of his wrist. “Okay, even I’ll admit that was kind of rude,” Heinz said.
“It’s okay, there’s still a little left in here,” Vinnie said, dipping a half-eaten piece in the bowl. Then he offered it to Balthazar, who gingerly set it on the table.
“You double-dipped,” Balthazar said. “Forget it.”
“I didn’t double-dip,” Vinnie held up his hands defensively. “I only dipped it once. Double dipping is when you dip twice. Therefore, I did not double-dip.”
Perry and Heinz ignored their argument, eating peacefully until there the couch vibrated slightly as something repeatedly bumped it.. “Perry the Platypus, stop it,” Heinz warned.
Perry set his fork down and shrugged, holding out his arms in confusion. There were several more soft thuds.
“Well something’s bumping my leg, and don’t think I haven’t seen you practicing that weird telekinetic thing with your fingers,” Heinz retorted.
Perry rubbed his bill with one hand in exasperation, then pointed down. It wasn’t his fault he accidentally discovered that pretending to use the Force actually tricked Norm. Heinz reached underneath the table and brought out a lumpy tablecloth. Perry grabbed the edge and yanked, revealing a tan dog with brown spots.
“Do you know this dog, Perry the Platypus?” Heinz asked. Perry shook his head. “He doesn’t look like one of our little friends. No, don’t eat our food! This stuff isn’t cheap, you know!” He moved the plates to the center of the table to prevent the canine from scarfing down the food, then set him on the seat. Perry sternly gave him a stay command. The dog huffed but flopped down obediently.
Balthazar glanced at the dog, rubbing his chin in thought. “That mutt looks familiar somehow.”
“Diogee!” a voice cried. “You’re not supposed to be at a seafood restaurant. Go home!” The boy from earlier ran up to their table with his arms wide open, and Diogee took a flying leap into them, knocking them both over. His body was slightly suspended in the air due to his backpack, and he laughed at all the licks he was receiving.
Finally, he stood up and dusted a few crumbs off his sweater vest. “Sorry about Diogee. He gets out a lot.”
Heinz waved off the apology. “Don’t worry about it, kid. Your dog is pretty adorable when he’s not trying to eat our food.”
“Thanks!” Milo grinned. Perry smiled back, reaching across the table for his plate so he could start eating again. “Oh, I recognize you two! I haven’t seen you since the day with that runaway fire truck! How are you?”
“Milo Murphy, right?” Vinnie said, shaking his hand and completely ignoring Balthazar’s indignant gasp. “Small world, I guess.”
Milo laughed. “Tell me about it. And is that an actual platypus? I have pajamas that look almost like you! Minus the fedora, which by the way looks really awesome!”
Perry tipped his fedora to Milo, slightly blushing from the compliment. They made platypus pajamas? He’d have to look into that. It would certainly be a nice gift idea.
Balthazar coughed to get their attention. “So we meet again, Milo Murphy. If that is your real name-”
Milo scratched the back of his neck. “Well, I was almost named Mikey at some point, but my mom didn’t want my name to sound like candy.”
“That’s not my point,” Balthazar scoffed. “Tell me the purpose of your mission, counteragent.”
“Counteragent?” Heinz cracked up. “How can this kid be an agent? He doesn’t have a hat!” Perry made a zipping motion with his fingers so Heinz didn’t reveal vital information. Were they at a different OWCA branch? He’d never seen files on them before.
Balthazar glared at him. “You don’t need a hat to be an agent!”
“But you’re wearing a hat,” Vinnie pointed out. “Even if it does attract a lot of weird stares.”
“Agent?” Milo asked. “Um, Sara and I often pretended we were time travel agents but....”
“There, you see?” Balthazar barked to Vinnie. “So he’s involved with time travel in some way! I knew it!”
Heinz reclined against the back of the couch, listening as Vinnie tried to clarify that there was a difference between pretending to be an agent and actually being an agent. “I know I could be kind of unreasonable-” Perry gave him a sideways glance. “-very unreasonable during schemes-but geez, what does this guy have against one kid? He’s crazy.”
Perry had to admit, it was pretty tempting to give Balthazar a good kick to the shin. If it was Phineas or Ferb that Balthazar had been attempting to interrogate, he would definitely not be showing so much restraint.
All talk ceased as everyone turned to stare at the odd scene at their table. Even Heinz fell silent. He really didn’t want to get involved. The parents of the boy were too busy figuring out their check that they hadn’t noticed their daughter had joined in the argument.
Milo hugged Diogee, looking slightly apprehensive at the attention. “Sara, you don’t need to get involved. It’s fine.”
Sara placed her hands on her hips, scowling. “It’s not fine! Back off my brother, you oversized leprechaun. He hasn’t done anything!”
“Balthy, I think we’d better go,” Vinnie warned.
“Not yet. All I want to know is who you’re working for,” Balthazar growled.
Milo’s eyes flickered between Sara and Balthazar. “I’m not working for anyone.”
“So a lone wolf then,” Balthazar murmured. “Very well. Dakota, we’re leaving.”
Without another word, he turned and exited the restaurant. Perry released the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. For all of Balthazar’s blunder and rashness, even he wasn’t stupid enough to push the matter further in such a crowded public area.
“Right behind you. Hey, so change of plans. Can I get that to go?” Vinnie asked a dumbfounded waiter, who had been staring awkwardly at the salmon he brought out during the exchange. As the waiter boxed the food, Vinnie shook hands with Milo. “Sorry about my partner. I’ll have to talk to him later about this.”
“I still don’t know what that was about,” Sara sighed. “We’re packing up now. See you later.”
“It was nice to meet you!” Milo said. “Bye!”
As the family passed by the front podium, the lobster tank by the entrance burst open and left a woman screaming about the water ruining her expensive shoes.
Vinnie shook hands with Heinz and Perry. “I never did give you an answer to your question, did I? I just don’t think anyone should be alone. We don’t exactly have the best living conditions, but sometimes a good thing can wander by our pistachio stand. Well, see you later!”
He politely thanked the waiter for boxing the food, then hurriedly took off after Balthazar.
Heinz signaled the waiter for a check. “He’s way too nice for his own good.”
Perry chattered in agreement. If only all partners could be as good a communicator as Heinz.

The state of Michigan has remained under some of the most stringent executive orders since coronavirus cases first began. Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has made national headlines for her responses to COVID-19; Americans on both sides of the aisle maintain that at least some of Whitmer’s policies have gone too far.
In spite of backlash, the Michigan governor continues to lead in the ways that she determines to be appropriate. In interviews, Whitmer claims that she will not be “bullied” into rushing past precautions marketed as tools to stop coronavirus.

Reports from Fox News note that the governor of Michigan recently extended the state of emergency; this emergency declaration shall now maintain until at least August 11, 2020.
A Closer Look at Michigan’s State of Emergency
Yesterday, Whitmer signed a new executive order extending Michigan’s state of emergency for almost another month. The Michigan governor cited the deaths triggered by COVID-19 coupled with reported case surges as reasons for pushing the emergency declaration into August.
Per Whitmer’s public statement, COVID-19 has caused the deaths of “more than 6,000” Michigan residents. The Michigan governor noted that many who have passed from coronavirus are loved ones, relatives, and friends.
After every region in #Michigan saw an uptick in new COVID-19 cases over the past three weeks, @GovWhitmer took swift action today by signing EO 2020-151 to extend the state's emergency and disaster declaration. However, some Michiganders and other Americans believe that Whitmer played a role in certain coronavirus deaths. Whitmer, along with other Democrat governors, has recently come under fire for moving coronavirus patients into nursing homes; this is a move that many people believe endangered the lives of vulnerable patients within these facilities.
Return to Lockdown?
Like several other states across the country, Michigan has gradually rolled back some of its reopening measures, amid reports of coronavirus increases. Whitmer, for her part, maintains that scaling back is in the best interests of Michiganders across the state.
Stay Smart. Stay Safe. The state of Michigan (@migov) & @MichiganHHS report today, July 14, 2020, 584 new COVID-19 cases & 6 deaths. This brings #Michigan's total cases to 70,306 & 6,081 deaths. Find the latest data, info & #COVID19 news at https://t.co/niRBexCYOy. pic.twitter.com/VFw08IFtpq

The seeming return to lockdown also comes amid national debates about whether or not to reopen schools. On that note, the Michigan governor has repeatedly affirmed that she will not allow schools to resume in-person operations until she believes that doing so is “safe” for all parties involved.
Many Americans in favor of reopening schools have noted studies showing the rarity of childhood transmission of coronavirus.
What do you think about the extended state of emergency in Michigan? Do you believe Governor Whitmer is acting on behalf of Michiganders’ best interests? Let us know down below in the comments section.
