ALSO! Just as a heads up, my more explicit art will be available either on Patreon or on Cohost. Tumblr still has community guidelines that prohibit anything erotic in theme, so I can't post a good chunk of my art here haha.

My accent gets real thick whenever I'm agitated. So whenever I'm on a rant abt something and the twang is overtaking me, my wife will say "what in tarnation" every few minutes
Anyways now I can't stop unironically saying that phrase whenever I'm gettin angsty and I love that for me

hello!! do you have any recommendations for books or essays about becoming a better reader of poetry? I love the poems you post and esp love when your tags go into what you got out of it / understood from it, bc it鈥檚 always so much more than I was able to interpret on my own. and I want to become a better reader and learn how to really sit with a poem and get into all its layers but idk where to start.
I stand behind the recs in this post, but since you want to focus on poetry and poetics, in addition to William Empson's The Seven Types of Ambiguity and Helen Vendler's Poems, Poets, and Poetry, I'd also recommend Christopher Ricks' The Force of Poetry, I. A. Richards' Practical Criticism, and Jorge Luis Borges' The Craft of Verse. They are all beautifully written, by people whose love of the form transcends academia and becomes, at times, a kind of secular worship. I loved poetry before I fully understood language, back when it was just incomprehensible mouthwords my parents repeated to get me to sleep; I'd have loved poetry even if I never toiled a day in the hermeneutics mines, like my grandmother reciting Eugene Onegin after her dementia cleared everything else from the table鈥攕he wasn't sure what it meant, all she knew was that this was the nicest thing she had. Isn't that a kind of faith?
There are other good books about how to read poetry, but these were the ones that initiated me into a conspiracy of words, they taught me to be curious about why I liked a poem, how to take pleasure in its vivisection without worrying I'd kill that faith鈥攍ike martyrs, good poems never fall apart when you open them up, they yield. If anything, the practice of explication has made me even more of a fanatic. I hope it does the same for you!
If there are poets you already like, I can get more specific about recs鈥擨'm partial to modernist poetry, but that just means I like following breadcrumb trails of allusions to lots of different literary traditions and can tell you where the bodies, hatchets and/or treasures are buried.

I am not going to publish an ask that included a word that is ableist. However, it asked what I recommend for AAC app or device.
I will say: try low-tech, or a simple text-to-speech if you can type. Can always much expand system later! AAC system is combination of all ways you communicate not with mouthwords.
Can have notebook with pictures cut and glued on. Can have communication cards. Can have pictures saved on phone or other device.
Use Coughdrop myself. Coughdrop works for me. It has free trial, and I think basic functions don't go away after trial? Very fortunate have Coughdrop thanks to assistive funding.
Also used text to speech in past. Still use paper book with pictures, because computer voice reading no good for Deaf friends, and visual text no good for people who not understand or read them. Good to have pictures also.
Own AAC system includes gestures, including little bits of local sign language. Not everyone understands these, but still part of my AAC.
Most often used AAC form in my AAC system just typing. Typing to write this - could not say with mouthwords, and take very long time to say with app. I type, and that works for me.
Typing easiest/most reliable form of communication for me, probably. Love love love using Coughdrop, but takes longer and not as many words, punctuation, etc as typing. Can't always type, but is vital part of my AAC.

I know I talk a lot about being an AAC user on here, but honestly I mask and force speech most of the time, and when I fully lose speech I let my parents talk for me. I wish I could use my device more but I鈥檓 so anxious about my parents judging me or saying I don鈥檛 need it. I mostly use it in low stakes situations like with friends that know I鈥檓 an AAC user and store clerks who I鈥檒l never see again. I wish people in my life would prompt me to use my device so that I could communicate better. I feel like a fraud. I wish I could just be a full time mouthwords user. Who doesn鈥檛 have communication and speech issues.

Note
AAC culture is people praising when use mouthwords instead of AAC. don't really like it . (Mostly speaking, use aac sometimes)
^^^
Especially when aac easier than mouthwords

semispeaking podcaster culture is having to cut out 4 mins out of a 10 mins episode because they were just silence where you tried to figure out how to put thoughts into mouthwords

Hello there! For the fanfic asks
3. I don't know much about canon Silvio's personality, but you write him a someone so believable it's astounding.
13. I've talked about the riddle at the end of your most recent Silvio fic to my sister (she's a geology fan) and she thought it was adorable!
Lots of love! 馃挋
Ahhh thank you! Again, I'm so happy if my writing has made even one person give Silvio more of a chance than they had considered before 馃グ And I'm so tickled to hear your sister approved of the idea...the whole fic started because I thought to myself, Silvio seems to exact sort of rich tsundere dumbass to confess via acrostic jewelry rather than just use the mouthwords like a normal person 馃ぃ I'm glad so many other people seem to agree.
Thank you for sending this, and making me smile 馃槉

Do any other autistics feel a strange sense of discomfort, or feel like they are slightly dissociating when they speak with mouthwords?
For some reason, very frequently lately, if I speak outloud it's like I don't recognize my voice or something and it makes me like feel weird like thinking things like "is that my voice" "am I awake or asleep" "I'm a real person?" Etc.
Idk if I'm just experiencing a burnout of sorts or what but it's been a lot more difficult to use mouth words and form verbal sentences and remember words etc.
