I’d like to latch onto the previous ask (about uke and seme). One of the show I’ve been watching is My School President, and my amateur eye got a bit confused about dynamics. Maybe it’s just that seme/ uke dynamics aren’t there. But if they are, they seme to be a bit uncharacteristic. Particularly the seme character (which I presume is Tinn), who does “pursue” the uke, but I wouldn’t say has the overhand. Also the story is seemingly told from the seme’s perspective (unless they’re gonna do a Bad Buddy), which isn’t completely unheard of but an unusual in the otherwise pretty “traditional” plot. In short, this got me all sorts of confused. 🤔

So, to get to the point. In case of an uke, there’s a tsundere variant, where the uke is acting up. Is there a similar but reverse variant of the seme? (i.e.: a seme who’s hesitant to act, or to actively pursue, aka “insecure seme” 🤓)

Yes, and the result is usually Aggressive & Autonomous Ukes, or Ukes Forced to Undertake the Seme Role.

It's getting rarer now, as countries keep looking at each others BL, even Thailand is getting weaker Seme/uke dynamics. (One way to tell is the more matched in physical height and fitness the two leads are, the more likely to have a weak S/u.) Also the more we leave university the more "they just gay" we are gonna get. To be frank the S/u dynamic is immature and one note. 

That said Thai high school BL is about finding identity, it's coming of age, so they can also be a bit more messy in terms of the roles in the narrative that the characters are occupying, and that’s part of their charm IMHO.

GMMTV is using MSP to play with the idea of BL tropes. We see Tinn fantasize about wiping Gun's mouth (a seme loyal action) but then what happens next... 

Tinn maybe wants to be a seme but more importantly for this story, he just wants to be a boyfriend. He clearly doesn’t care what form that partnership takes, because he has no experience with relationships let alone the physical side of being gay. His fantasies are just around being WITH Gun somehow.

There is an innocence to his seme behavior, like he is performing seme because he thinks he is supposed to, but he honestly doesn’t care, he just wants to be close to Gun. You might be picking up on this aspect. 

Normally in Thai BL the semes CARE about being in charge, see Ai long Nhai or even Between Us, they are very firm and sure in their seme behavior. Tinn is not. He’s just gay and the character with the crush and therefore the one who has to act first. 

And he’s very bad at it. 

It’s fucking adorable and so teenager I can hardly stand it.

Hello! I hope your vacation went well.

Can I request MSP Reader and the hiveswap trolls with purple blood reader (the adult reader from the headcanons with highblood reader helping Signless and his group and who is now Male Condesce's matesprit)

Reader is on Alternia because Condesce is here to kill the Heir to the throne, and she thought of taking a walk while he's doing his business.

She meets MSP Reader by pure chance, and MSP Reader's quest for friendship pushed them to become friend with reader.

After becoming friends, MSP Reader (separately) told their troll friends that they wanted them to meet their new friend and asked if they could come to their hive with reader. The trolls accepted, not thinking that this new friend is reader, the matesprit of the emperor and well-known figure in alternia (even if her traitorous acts aren't known).

They were all scared at first, but reader is nice and respectful and is happy to talk to other trolls than Condesce.

For Chahut's part, it would be funny that she takes MSP Reader and Reader to the clown church (location that reader DESPITES with all her heart) and she had a insult fight with The Grand Highblood.

Reader has been wandering around Alternia for a long time, finding more and more friends. However, he knew that there were only teenagers on Alternia. That's what he thought until he met you. You were an adult troll, but he had no idea who exactly you were. However, he didn't feel any danger around you. You were surprised to see him. You would never have thought that you would meet such a strange creature, and even more so, you did not think that you would make friends with him

Reader was sincerely glad that he was able to meet such a friendly adult troll. You told him that you arrived on Alternia with your matesprite, but while he was busy, you could safely walk around the neighborhood. Reader invited you to meet his friends. He didn't know exactly who you were and he was sure that you could get along with his friends, but when he saw the fear in their eyes, he didn't understand why they were so afraid of you until they told him who you were

It was hard for him to believe that you were cruel. For all the time that you talked, he could have sworn that you were kind. Only a little while later, his friends told him that despite the fact that you were close to the emperor, you were not as cruel. There were rumors that you helped trolls from other castes, and someone even said that you were part of a rebellion that happened a long time ago. No one knew what rumors could be believed, but Reader wanted to believe that you were a good person

You knew for sure that if Condesce found out about the existence of Reader, then the alien could have serious problems. That's why you decided not to let this happen. You've already lost a lot of people close to you and you didn't want anyone else to get hurt

Daraya was surprised when Reader said he wanted to introduce her to his friend. However, she did not expect that this friend would be you. Daraya knew a little about who you are. She knew that you had been Condesce's right-hand man for a very long time and it could be dangerous. However, when she saw you, you didn't look like the cruel troll that some thought you were. You looked like someone who had been through a lot of bad things in her entire life

You were sitting quietly together in an abandoned shopping mall and you really weren't as bad as Daraya thought. You were quiet, calm, and you knew a lot. You remembered well what Alternia used to be. Daraya listened to your stories about the past. You remembered the past with a wistful smile. For you, it was a long-lost past that you could share with few people

You told her about the distant planets you visited. Together with Condesce you have been to many places and seen many different things, but you really missed Alternia. Despite the fact that your homeland has changed during the time that you were gone, you were glad to return. Daraya showed you many different places, no longer feeling anxious about you. You really were much better than other adults

Daraya knew that soon you would leave the planet again, and a new stage would begin on Alternia due to the change of heir, but while you were there, you helped her prepare for life when there would be changes on the planet. Daraya was good and she didn't deserve to suffer because of the actions of your matesprite

Reader knew that Tyzias was interested in history in some sense, so he decided to introduce her to you. You witnessed many events and Reader was sure that you would be able to tell her a lot. However, when Tyzias saw you, she was scared. She knew exactly who you were, even though she didn't know you personally. She knew how long you had been with Condesce and was afraid that you might find out that she wanted to change her life on Alternia

She was wary of you for a long time until you yourself started talking about the past. Reader told you that Tyzias was looking for information about the revolution and you immediately realized that it was about the revolution that you once helped. You didn't mind telling her the truth, knowing that she wouldn't tell anyone that you once helped those about whom she had been looking for information for so long

She listened to your stories in shock. It was hard for her to believe that you, the one who was close to the emperor, the one who was considered his right hand, helped those who opposed the ruler. You knew things that could not be found out in any book or in any document available to her, and you were happy to share your knowledge. For her, it was valuable information, and for you, it was stories from your life that you kept to yourself for a long time, not being able to talk to anyone about it

Tyzias knew how much you both were risking because of the topic of your discussion, but you weren't going to let anyone hurt her or her loved ones. You've already failed once and were much more determined. You've lived long enough to think about a huge number of options, and now even if a new revolution was brewing, you were ready to help and this time to prevent failure

Chahut watched in surprise as you and Grand Highblood swore like two teenagers. When the connection was interrupted, you continued to grumble, but Chahut saw that some of the rumors about you were just rumors

You knew that you had enough time to chat with Chahut and tell her what you knew. You understood that she would have to leave the planet soon, but you didn't want her to get hurt or die. I’ve got a bit of a working knowledge of all this so I’m happy to help.

Considering it’s only about a 60-90 min flight from MSP to STL on a direct, totally feasible for that to happen for her if she’s not working.

Also, most arenas have guest passes/policies for the teams, even for away ones. She could get downstairs and probably wait just outside locker room hallway or if they have a separate friends and family room they designate for away teams.

Hotel rules vary by team but a lot get persnickety with guests in THEIR rooms, but there’s also the just be back and be alone by curfew understanding. Some teams go a little more lax with families in but not sure what playoffs do to those rules. And all that varies by how strict coach/GM/team are.

Hope this helps even a little!

If I may sway a little bit from Brazilian politics, I’d like to inform y’all that ‘Monica & Friends: Lessons’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video!

There are many gringos following this blog (💚), and I truly recommend it to them too!

These characters, for those not in the know, are, like, some of the most quintessential piece of Brazilian culture there’s ever going to be. Y’know what comic/cartoon characters like Garfield and Snoopy are for USAmericans? Icons that every single citizen knows and has already seen/read at least one three-panel story with them? That’s what Mônica, Cebolinha (Jimmy Five), Magali (Maggy), and Cascão (Smudge) are for us. They’re ubiquitously known, and a huge chunk of us have grown up with their comics.

This is their second live-action film. Both movies so far have been inspired in the Graphic MSP (Maurício de Souza Produções) series, which are graphic novels with these characters in more well-rounded, deeper, more emotional stories, beyond their usual comedic tone. Those comics have received critical acclaim in Brazil, and both films so far have stayed very true to them.

The movie is definitely a shower of glory for those of us immersed in Brazilian culture. But I genuinely believe that the plot stand on its own even when you don’t get all the references and easter eggs! It’s a super heartwarming and touching story with four lovely child characters going through a journey of growth and friendship, and trying to stick together as the world tries to drive them apart. Truly universal themes explored in a well-thought out and super mythical plot that I believe transcends borders. It also has a very adorable and diverse cast of child actors who do impressive performances that will bring tears to your eyes if you have a heart.

The trailer is only subtitled in Portuguese, so, explaining the premise, our little fantastic four do a lil’ mischief in school and it has graver fallout than they imagined -- one of them gets hurt, and their parents decide to switch their school.

HOWEVER, there are English and Spanish subtitles available for it in Amazon Prime Video. I watched it with English ones and approved their translations.

It’s a film targeted at children, but, like every actually good and memorable children’s story, its themes are deeper than what first meets a kid’s eye. Think, like, it’s closer to Pixar films than, for example, Peppa Pig or Baby Shark. It’s guaranteed child entertainment, but grown ups will definitely be able to appreciate the story and pick up all sorts of nice subtleties and deeper layers. So if you have a smol lil’ bean near you who can already read subtitles, get ‘em to watch it with you too! It’s only 90 minutes long, so it’s super quick, and you get to support Latin American cinema.

Monica & Friends: Lessons is a must-watch for anyone interested in Brazilian culture, and I can’t recommend it enough. Go stream it!

i’m becoming more and more obsessed with their city performance the more i watch it bc it’s like post-msp tinngun revisiting some of their past moments and setting things right. well, not all of them were wrongs that needed to be righted exactly, but that’s the best way i can think to describe it... like, what if gun actually paid attention to what tinn was trying to tell him in crossword club? what if he offered to let tinn eat out of his hand instead of tinn just doing so on his own? what if, instead of breaking apart out of fear of being seen, their aquarium pinky touch turned into a full-on hand hold? it’s literally so beautiful and i love them so much i want to cry 😭 and the fact that it’s set to city, which is 1000% their song... yes 💚
