I FORGOT TO POST OLIVER!!! my new (well, i made her a few months ago actually but im posting her now) spiderman oc! She’s from the same universe as Spiderling, in fact they are related!
They are both created from Doc Ock, though Oliver is newer, She is physically older and more mature, around 15-16. She cannot speak as she is mute and she mostly uses she/her but doesnt mind other ones and sometimes changes it for awhile.
When, Spiderling was taken by Connors as a baby, all Doc Ocks/Richard Parkers work was destroyed and he spent years trying to recreate a Spider super soldier, and succeeded with Oliver, whos stronger than Spiderling. Unfortunately. Oliver was also lost soon after her creation, wandering the streets before finding a home. And refusing to join Doc Ock. Maybe he’d have better luck next time... Third times the charm?

(Prev 8 Arms anon) I'm sorry to hear you had such a less than pleasant time in the fandom :( I can relate, recently bit the bullet and left all the spidey n doc ock servers I was in. I won't let the internet spoil spider-man for me, as sonething I grew up with. Fully understandable you likely won't continue and I support you on it. I am admittedly curious on what your plans were for it, and wonder if it would be okay to maybe unofficially continue it, or something inspired off it?
thank you anon! i will say the VAST majority of my time spent in the doc ock fandom was great & overall it was one of the most fun fandoms i've been part of and i look back on my time there very fondly.
really it was just a few people who... i guess i can say we had irreconcilable differences of opinion for lack of a better way to put it while remaining vague.. became influential enough in the fandom& main server that i ended up feeling pushed out. really there was just one specific change to the server that was the final straw for me & i left the next day but i won't go more into detail on any of that in public posts LOL
so this ask had me open my google doc of this fic for the first time in ages to get my notes & i realized i had the first half of ch3 written but never posted so i've added that on ao3!
honestly i would be SOOO flattered if you wanted to continue the fic i'd be more than ok with that! can't believe people liked my silly little story that much! as for what i had planned for it i did have some super rough draft notes i'd written up for the remainder of the fic which i'll throw beneath the cut:
basically i had planned for the rest of chapter 3 to be the surgery itself - the actuators operate & otto eventually passes out of course. probably nothing TOO gory since my intention of this fic was to be mostly kink focused & angst at the beginning with a happy ending. so after the surgery he's kind of delirious from pain and in infection and the hospital employee he'd injured ends up finding him, having not been hurt seriously during the break in they followed him back & kind of hovered around a bit watching things unfold for a bit before revealing themselves like "that was a really stupid thing you did, you need antibiotics. no you ARE going to let me help you with this because otherwise you are going to die" & they get to know each other while the oc/reader stand in helps get him back to full health. & eventually he starts to work through some of his issues by having someone else to be close with etc etc. and then of course the feedism stuff too i'd put down a note that there should be a scene where the other character is like "so WHY were you doing something this dumb in the first place" & when otto's awkwardly explaining they get REALLY embarrassed hearing about it but not for the reasons otto thinks. classic feedism fic miscommunication moment yknow. oh & my notes also include a line i planned the other character to say at some point which i think kind of sums up the thesis for how i intend their relationship to end up & that's “you’ve been getting fat because you aren’t taking care of yourself. From now on i want you getting fat because im taking care of you”

Here's a few for the oc Ophelia
Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?
Tortillon: does your OC "blend in" with the people around them? Physically? Metaphorically?Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.
Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.
Also bonus question, since I know a bit about spiderman: her last name is Octavius. Is this because she is doc ock, or is she related to doc ock?
ooh thank you so much!!!
(since you put the full question, I'll just add my answers instead of copy/pasting the full thing again)
Paintbrush: oh, she's no stranger to conflict. If she thinks something's going wrong, she won't hesitate to dive in and tackle it, whether it's a physical problem or an emotional one. This can make her seem brash and intense at times, but often keeps problems from festering and growing worse.
Tortillon: she's not the best at blending in, physically or metaphorically. Even outside of her "hero" persona, she's 5'11" and built like a powerlifter, so she doesn't really vanish into the crowd. And personality-wise, she's both incredibly smart and incredibly sharp - she's not afraid to speak her mind, and her wit sets her apart. She's had her conflicts with this, certainly some times when she'd rather fit in, but for the most part she embraces her distinctiveness.
Oh, and then there's the actuator tentacles. But it seems like you've guessed that already ;)
Eraser: Before I even starting writing her, her physical appearance made a few changes. I realized that in order to wield her actuators the way they were, she'd need to be strong enough to carry them, so I gave her a broader weightlifter's frame to accommodate that. I also gave her glasses, partially as a reference to Spiderverse's Doc Ock and partially because I just wanted a hero with glasses (since she doesn't have any innate powers, she has to deal with mundane "human" issues like nearsightedness).
As I started writing her, I realized she was coming off as very much autistic-coded (which is probably because of my own neurodivergencies tbh), so I leaned into that a little more and embraced that side of her character
Bonus Question: very good catch! She is indeed related to Doc Ock: she's Otto Octavius' daughter. After his death, she ended up designing actuator tentacles of her own, making improvements on his original design, and she took the name Argonaut (a type of octopus, plus the Greek myth). So she's not the Doc Ock, but she did carry on the legacy.

OCs DESERVE BETTER --> Odette ‘Dette’ Octavius (Marvel/Spider-Man) FC: Emmy Rossum (Raimi!verse), Lucy Hale (Webb!verse), Sofia Black D’Elia (MCU)
HUGE THANKS to @randomestfandoms-ocs, @aliverse, and everyone in the one discord server for both helping and enabling my creation of a Doc Ock daughter OC
inspiration: juliaswickcrs [x]
Introduced as the daughter of Doctor Otto Octavius as an attempt to add more depth to the character, Odette ‘Dette’ Octavius was written as a friend of Peter Parker and Harry Osborn from their college days who helps Aunt May with F.E.A.S.T and is seen as the anti-thesis of her father - smart but not as smart, no real interest in science, spends her time helping with F.E.A.S.T and the community. In the years since her introduction, her character has also fleshed out more, being consistently written as believing in the good that lies inside her dad. She also has on different occasions had a relationship with both Peter Parker and Harry Osborn in different comic runs but never for too long.
First appearing on screen during Spider-Man (2002) by up-and-coming actress Emmy Rossum before her Shameless days, she was written in the films as the childhood best friend of Peter, Harry, and MJ, with her and Harry having a friendly bickering over their fathers. During the trilogy, she was written as Harry’s love interest and it remains unknown what happened to her after Spider-Man 3 (2007). During Spider-Man 2 (2004), her and Otto’s relationship was finally represented on the big screen, a depiction largely considered to be very comic accurate, though another criticism Spider-Man 3 (2007) drew was how it seemed to brush off Otto’s death and the affect it no doubt had on Odette. Some fans in recent years have felt like there was potential for a poly ship in the trilogy, with the chemistry and writing between the characters almost hinting towards more than platonic feelings. That, of course, remains a very unpopular and highly contested opinion.
Reappearing again in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), this time portrayed by Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars fame, many fans were taken by surprise when not only was she written as Octavia Octavius and Peter’s childhood best friend but also as a potential love interest if the series moved forwards. In The Amazing Spider-Man (2014) she ended up rekindling a childhood romance with Harry Osborn, only for a seemingly last minute script change where suddenly Gwen Stacey was written as leaving to study aboard, her and Harry broke up, and her and Peter were acting like future love interests. This decision didn’t sit well with most fans, contributing to the film’s infamous hatred among Spider-Man fans. At the end of the film, rather than Harry killing Gwen Stacy after Peter fails to save her, Octavia is the one that falls from the clock tower. Instead of being killed, she is permanently paralyzed from the waist down, something that is attributed to comic book science as the way she was falling, even with Peter webbing her in time, she should have had a broken neck.
Played by newcomer Sofia Black D’Elia in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), once again named Odette Octavius, she is once again not only Peter’s childhood friend but also MJ’s. While fans were debating if Zenday’s MJ was going to be MCU!MJ, many were also torn between whether to ship Peter x MJ, Peter x Odette, or MJ x Odette. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) once again shocked fans when Marvel Studios decided to go ahead with a poly ship between Peter x MJ x Odette, something that did not do much to endear die-hard comic fans to the MCU’s take on the web-slinger and related characters. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) saw the brief return of the father-daughter relatioship between Odette and Otto, even if they were from separate universes. Between his relationship with Odette and the other Peter’s, the trope referred to as ‘Dad Ock’ has rapidly taken over the fanfiction pages for the MCU. After the spell at the end of the film, it is revealed that MJ and Odette are still together, though Odette got accepted and will be attending Lesley University rather than M.I.T with Ned and MJ.

Marvel OC Ask #29- Name a few of your current villains– who’s making up your rogues gallery?
Spider-Glass: I’ve met a LOT of strange entities throughout my time on this mortal coil so I’ll mention four of them. Not in any particular order, just based some interesting ones, right out of my personal grimorie notes.
Doctor Octopus/Odyssia Octavius: An esteemed marine biologist specializing in cephalopods who used to work for The New York Aquarium, now she lives in this old abandoned military base that is partially flooded, smells like low tide and dead fish, crawling with so many “marine science projects”, all while she messes around with eldritch magic she really shouldn’t have accession at all. How did she end up like that? Based on what I learned from her monologues, she did this because she discovered this... weird cephalopod-like entity while doing an live exploration demonstration for said aquarium. This entity is most definitely some elder god’s proxy, using its power to serve whatever alien entity controls it. It serves as the middle man, being the link in which Doc Ock got into contact with this elder god and, because she’s super passionate about cephalopods, she began to grow incredibly obsessed with it and she wanted to use its powers to “ learn long forgotten secrets that science is too scared to answer”. Her words, not mine. Now she’s out to unravel everything and everyone around her apart, curiously wanting to see how they tick. Personality wise, she seems like she’s very, very giddy about marine biology and she does NOT like it when someone insults her creations. I’m also convinced that she is basically afraid of nothing. Like, I’ve seen some her less friendly allies who got tricked by her and they try to kill her, but she’s always thrilled to see what they’re capable of, even when threatened with complete annihilation. Not that I’ve seen any of them succeed. When faced with the horrors of the unknown, she’s the first to enthusiastically dive in head first into studying it. If she wasn’t about doing things such as turning people to horrible fish chimeras, it would be admirable. have anxiety so I am a bit envious of her utter lack of fear but, it’s probably for the best that I don’t experience that.
Green Goblin/Norman Osborn: Harry’s terrible dad. Seriously, and here I thought my dad was garbage. He’s this exiled Unseelie Archfae, a Lord of the Autumn Court to be specific. Don’t know too much about his past or even if “Norman Osborn” is his true name. I doubt it. Not even Harry knows much about the guy’s past. Although the Autumn Court thing explains his love of everything Halloween related. I’ve been to his executive office at the OsCorp HQ during October and man does this guy go all (and to be honest he keeps his decorations up all year). One time Harry invited me to a Christmas party at his dad’s place and man it still looked like it was Halloween in his house. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the guy do anything else with his decorating. ... Got a bit sidetracked there. Whoops. Anyhow, I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so two faced in my entire life and I’m including Flash Thompson in that! Sometimes he seems like your average evil business boy and draconian father but when he REALLY wants to go ham, he drops the serious business boy act real fast. He goes from refined but kinda lame rich asshole to the most unhinged madman I’ve ever had to witness. Throwing pumpkins is one thing but releasing sentient pumpkins that breathe fire everywhere is a different matter entirely. And also turning NYC into a massive pumpkin patch nightmare maze zone that one time. Ruined pumpkin spice anything and pumpkin pies... Also he’s very big on the Art Nouveau movement, so if you ever visit OsCorp, that’s why the architecture looks like that. I’m not entirely sure what his true motivations are, and he never gives a clear answer to anything ever, but whatever it is, he is very unpredictable and hard to get a good read on. His entry is still a WIP.
Mysterio/Quinlan Beck: The biggest theater kid I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting and she’s actually just a magical century old lady skeleton in fancy clothes. Little known secret about Broadway is that for the last several decades or so, a lich resides in area. According to theater kid mythology, Mysterio is the guardian spirit of Broadway theaters and she’s considered to a very knowledgeable lich who provides protection of the playhouses, secret advice for those wanting to get into Broadway, and even insuring the hefty success of a production. Theater kids are a very superstitious bunch who would do anything for guaranteed success, so of course, they have yet to reveal the location of her phylactery. So for now, Mysterio is immortal for the time being. Which kinda sucks, because she is one of the most pretentious and annoying villains to fight. While two can play at the illusion game, she can do a lot more than I can. She also forces anyone she manages to capture to act in her stupid plays. It happened to me once and it felt like I was a puppet being made to relive some not so great moments just for the “drama”. The only good thing about her is that she usually keeps herself busy with the theater kids who managed to sort of placate her. Sometimes. And she is able to really mess you up if she finds it entertaining, so that’s something.
Shatter (Previously Venom)/Edith Brock: Had a weird shoulder demon to go with my weird shoulder angel for a time and it was not fun. Boy, was it not fun. It began with it slipping into my body and soul. Things didn’t immediately take a nose dive; Shatter allowed my to access Infernal magic that I previously had no power over and at first the demon did give me some improvements on my usual powers. Some of the time, it was Akavi and Shatter were fighting each other in my body on who would get drive the Spider-Glass, it they would be able to compromise. But then Shatter was starting to snuff out any voice Akavishiel had and I started to feel... off. It started small with tiny little vices they wanted me to do, then it grew into cravings for an ungodly amount of sweets, which would then become cravings for flesh, and then it started to make me do things against my will... I had no other choice but to remove Shatter from my body and that meant I needed to perform an exorcism on myself. Easier said than done. Shatter escapes before I could contain it... In enters Edith Brock. Edith is a classmate I don’t know too well and she’s with my bully Eugenia “Flash” Thompson’s crowd. Edith also seems to be... weirdly resentful towards me? I don’t know what I did to her that made her this upset at me but she was always following Flash around... But I do know that once I as Spider-Glass inadvertently got Flash’s attention when I saved her life, she always seemed to be suspicious of me. I-I think she knew who Spider-Glass was and I don’t think she liked the fact that Flash now was fan girling over Spider-Glass. Just like how I met Akavishiel... I believe Edith inadvertently came across Shatter, who was not happy with me exorcising them from my body and well... I guess it was a match made in Hell for them.
