THE TOWN OF STARS HOLLOW was on the brink of Autumn, yet the sun was mistaking the New England town for a tropical paradise. Except the sun didn't accept the idea of paradise. Not with the continuous heat waves that had the town meetings cancelled and air conditioners blasting. Not a single long sleeve in sight despite it being the first day of September.

"This feels like a joke. This has to be a joke, right?" Lorelai Gilmore mutters as she walks down the side walk, fanning herself with her hand while trailing around in her heeled boots that felt like personal hell. Her best friend, Sookie, stood to her right wiping the bead of sweat from her forehead. "If it is, this is the cruelest joke ever."

The two regretted their walk from the Dragonfly Inn almost instantly and that thought only deepened as they walked the towns streets. Luke's seemed so far away and they were ready to give up.

"Watch out!" A voice called from the town square, as the two woman turned to see a ball coming in their direction. Lorelai moved out of the way and Sookie quickly followed, the ball nearly taking out their necks. A woman came jogging over and stopped with a quick glance at the two of them, grabbing the ball and tossing it into her arms. "Oh, sorry. That kid is not ready for soccer tryouts.”

Lorelai locked eyes with the woman who stood before her, wearing a pair of sneakers with shorts and a cut-up Metallica t-shirt. She looked like she somehow didn't break a sweat. Despite her athletic efforts. "Where did you come from, the freezer section?" Lorelai asks.

The unknown woman rubs her lips together before motioning over to the kid standing in the grass across the road. "My niece has shitty aim," She says with a quick smile.

"Well we can't all be... a… soccer player," Lorelai mutters as she realizes she doesn't know the name of a singular athletic star.

"Are you new around here?" Sookie asks the girl curiously as she searches her purse for her sunscreen. Y/N only nodded in response, "Just visiting my sister. She owns the boutique down the road."

"Oh yeah, I like going in there. It's like an episode of The Twilight Zone. I never know what's gonna happen in there," Lorelai chuckles as the woman only nods along. "Cool t-shirt, by the way."

"Metallica fan?" Y/N asks as she eyes her for a moment, noticing the pink tank top with a puppy on it. She found it hard to believe that this smiley woman would be fond of Kirk Hammett.

"Great band," Lorelai nods.

"They know how to play a tune or two," Y/N comments with a quick smirk making Lorelai smile. Clearly enjoying their little talk and what Y/N said next. "It's not too often I run into a pretty Metallica fan."

Lorelai smiles sweetly at those words making Sookie have to hide her smile of excitement with her hand. Before making an excuse to leave the two alone. "I'm gonna head to Luke's before I become bacon out here... nice meeting you."

Y/N gives her a nod as she walks past her, leaving Lorelai stood infront of her and only her. "Yeah, I'll meet you there."

She tossed the ball back over towards her niece who went back to kicking it around the gazebo. Lorelai's eyes still on her as she did so. Enjoying her figure in the summer clothing. "Well I should probably get back to her..."

"Yeah," Lorelai gives her a nod as she breaks out of the trance and looks over at the kid. "She's a cute kid."

"She is," Y/N nods as she gives Lorelai another look once her head turned. "Listen... I'm gonna be in town for a while."

"Oh?" The Inn owner says, obviously too awkward to mumble out something witty as per usual. Y/N nodded before licking her lips. "Yeah, I'll see you around?"

"Yep. It's Stars Hollow; we see everyone and everything. Not in a creepy way... but in a like, we're always looking. God, that sounded very opening scene of Halloween," Lorelai smiles awkwardly before chuckling away her nerves.

"Great movie," Y/N comments with a quick smile as she glanced down at the empty coffee cup Lorelai was holding. Questioning why she was on her second cup of hot coffee on a day like this... but noticing the sharpie'd name written on the side. "…Lorelai."

Lorelai furrows her eyebrows with another soft chuckle. "So you're stalker Michael Myers."

"No, I'm just a girl who can read," Y/N motions to the coffee cup with a nice smirk. Lorelai feels a grin grow at that as she looks over at the woman. "I'll see you later, Lorelai."

"You too, Y/N." Lorelai hums as she watches her head toward the street before turning to her with a confused look. Lorelai only grins as she starts walking to the coffee shop, "I can read too."

Y/N thinks for a moment as she crossed the street and walked back over to her niece. Noticing the ball by her feet. 'Property of Y/N Y/L/N'

"Well, damn."

gilmore girls x batman crossover

tldr: jason todd is rory gilmore’s twin brother who was kidnapped by nurse sheila haywood soon after birth. lorelai was consumed by grief, so no one knows about him

(tw: implied infant death (not actually tho))

post red hood arc, jason returned as red hood, fucked up tim, did the duffel bag crime lord thing, then id reveal to the bats & redemption

he’s teamed up with the outlaws as hood a few times, but usually sticks to crime alley and is going to monthly dinners at the manor at this point

jason does a dna test as part of a regular check up (he hasn’t had one since before his death) to get all his information updated and verified in the bat system

finds out that lorelai gilmore is his bio mom

sheila haywood was married to willis todd when jason was born, hence him thinking she was his bio mom

he also finds out about rory in a background check

he pieces together that they're twins

then goes to stay a week at the dragonfly inn during rory’s spring break

he leaves paper trail that duke picks up

jason was last to use the bat computer and duke was checking something before his day shift and found lorelai and rory in the search history

he pieces it together and hides it from the other bats to give jason some space and time like a good bro

eventually duke and cass team and up and follow him when he takes too long for their taste

various asides of dick, tim, damian, and bruce being kinda clueless/writing off jason’s disappearance for an outlaws mission or smth silly and mundane (ex: an austen estate viewing)

eventually, b, dick, and tim catch on and start getting suspicious about jason’s disappearance

so cass and duke stall then dip to follow jason

the rest of the bats follow soon after (maybe a day or two later after duke and cass)

with each snippet of bats being suspicious or silly, we get a snippet of jason meeting and interacting with townspeople

jason and miss patty get along hilariously well and taylor hates jason and vice versa

jason attends a town meeting

jason meets the gilmore grandparents and charms the shit out of them, then casually drops in “when i was a gotham street kid” or something like that near the very end of night

for jason disappearance, im thinking that there were some complications with their birth, so the twins had to be held in the hospital for a day or two. then sheila haywood, one of the nurses, either straight up kidnapped jason and disappeared, or told lorelai that he passed away and then disappears with him.

also, jason and rory bonding over being bookworms, both of them speaking spanish (or jason teaching her spanish beyond a classroom setting), jason inheriting his grandfathers height, the gilmore grandparents being friends with martha and thomas and/or alfred, rory gets introduced to sibling chaos, sister bonding trip, logan shovel talk, kirk and/or luke being suspicious about jason at first, awkward luke and jason bonding moment (cooking together?), jason becomes sookies favorite bc cooking buddies and he respects her kitchen

basically the characters work so so well together, the amount of really well fitting avenues that this hc could go is crazy

ideally, i have the timeline set in gilmore in mid season 5 and have some scenes written, however i’ve not written jason before and can’t get his characterization down right.

Hey Bonefall! Got a wide and weird variety of Clanmew things to share/ask about! Spent some time translating a mix of straight OCs and also clangen cats, and thus I’ve got some names to show off and also a varied list of words I ran into a lack of.

Cherryclaw - Obeorussyskat

Cherry leaves who will unsheathe claws

Also known as Sookie, this is the warrior name I’ve given to my cat. Name is coming from cherry, making it specifically the leaves of the cherry tree since she’s a beautiful tortie, and then yskat from the term for unsheathing claws, as I wanted a more active term than just referring to the body part. If I’m getting how nicknames work right, I think a suitable nickname would be Obekat, but you might notice a better one.

This also turned up a word I think would be helpful - what would be the term for specifically leaves which have fallen to the ground in leaffall? Like, piles of rustling leaves on the ground. I think that’d fall a lot closer to what I was getting at.

Cranestar - Bwabwashai

Egret star / Cranelight / Egret who shines

Previously known as Bwabwashemi, this one is using the egret as a reasonably similar bird which had a word in the lexicon.

Oakbranch - Byochchobyrr

Oak tree branch

This one was a big chunk of time and turned up a decent chunk of words desired, as Oakbranch is a cleric and fathers a litter of kittens with Cranestar and thus I decided to dabble in dishonour names with him, though it would be given by a different leader likely.

I ended up wanting the general meaning of “tree branch dead from breaking a vow”, so using Babechok in place of the prefix and using a term for a broken vow as the suffix - ideally a term for specifically the cleric vow, but a general promise would work too. Thus, under this I was wondering what the words for promise/vow, honourable, broken vow, forbidden, and dishonourable would be. (Don’t worry I’m gonna add a bullet list at the end)

Nickname attempt Shogi? She’s a cleric and sisters with Nightfall.

Batwing - Shi’poafafa

Noctule (biggest bat named) who fluttered

Nickname attempt Shifa? This one also turned up a word request- the Lexicon has a word for specifically a feathered wing, but not the skin wings of bats - what would that be? I’m actually really happy with what I ended up with, but it feels like a gap which should be considered.

I need to update Yet Another masterpost (And we just got the Lexicon up to date!) so let me hook you up to all the terms you need;

Types of Wings

There are a LOT of words for specific types of wing in Clanmew, related to the fact Clanmew is a language of obligate carnivores and active hunters. There isn't just "Flying," there are a LOT of types of "flight" and each wing produces a very different kind of rapid movement.

Someday I will also expand on the types of Beof, feathered wings.

Bat wing, has a bit of a "tragic" connotation if not used in the context of a living bat, as dead "songbirds" are a very sad thing to Clan cats = Pafr

Hard, outside wing of some insects, such as beetles, "Shield" = Bakbur

Clear, iridescent flight wing of insects, "Elytra" = Kaskr

Beautiful, patterned wing of a butterfly or moth, "painted" by StarClan. Has a holy connotation = Wesk

Pectoral fin of a fish, NOT the tail-fin, the "arm" wing = Sseo

Values

Here's honor-related terms, in order of least insulting to most insulting.

Honor = Kurruar To say something is honorable (good thing), the suffix -wang is appended. Kurruarwang. Honorness. To negate, the prefix Nyar is applied. Nyarkurruarwang, Not-Honor-Ness. You can come back from dishonor, it's the politest way to phrase that someone has not been acting in line with the value of Honor.

Beastliness, gauchness, lacking in good taste = Ragywar This is usually applied to taste, meaning a cat who will eat raw meat or bite through their tunnelbuns, but it could also be used in a context meaning that the cat acts like an "animal." Driven by lesser instincts.

Cannibalism/Eats its own young/Acting in extreme self-interest = Mwyrgna This is the lowest kind of NATURAL evil... but still natural. It's the evil of cuckoo birds, frightened animals that eat their own young, killing out of self-interest. VERY serious insult.

Unnatural Evil/Cruelty/Sadism = Yaonyyw This is not something that cuckoo birds are even capable of. It's unnatural evil. It's pleasure at seeing another thing suffer, for no other reason than to see it in pain. It's what Clan cats think humans do when they cut the claws off their kittypets. It's unspeakable, but rare.

And on vows,

Promise = Minki NOT a holy vow. Just one you make between people. Also can be used to mean "reliable," "Capable of keeping promises."

Vow/Oath = Shemiyyo A sacred promise, one you make on authority of your holy name. VERY few things are vows of this level-- the most common vow to make is the one you do during your Warrior Name Ceremony, making an oath to uphold the code.

ONES I HAVE ON-HAND

I answered this ask a while back which includes the word for "talon," Chuag, the unretractable claw of a non-feline animal.

I also answered this one for beavers after you'd already sent this, beavers are actually England-compliant, surprisingly

Fallenleaf's name is over here, step-by-step walking through its etymology even! Her name in Clanmew, Wowaruss is basically "Leaf Litter," but literally "Beneathleaf," the fallen layer of leaves in a forest.

CRESS

THREE types of Cress. As a treat. Any of these can translate to cress if you'd like, or the alternate translations I'm including.

Watercress (Nasturtium officinale) = Qwerru From Duck + Leaf, because this is a favorite fodder of ducks and geese. VERY unhealthy for cats, doesn't cause instant poisoning but WILL lead to kidney stones if eaten a lot. Thankfully, it also tastes Bad.

Stune (Cardamine hirsuta) = Berrsha Also called "Hairy Bittercress" in English, used as a medicinal herb. Widespread, very common, and seen in early Spring which can make it very useful for Clerics running low on other medicines. "Stune" comes from Old English btw. it's an archaic name for this plant but I do what i want. Language is an illusion and so are pants.

Rocket (Barbarea vulgaris) = Eberr Called "Bitter Wintercress" or "Yellow Rocket" in English, a much better version of stune. Pops up in abundant, cheerful flowers, hence the English name. NOT EATEN; used as a poultice for treating wounds.

Everything Else

Just a couple more things of assorted flavors;

Mark = Neb A scent marker, DOESN'T JUST APPLY TO SPRAYING but, yes, that is also a neb. A kitty "kiss" is also a mark being applied.

Anointed/Anointing/Will Anoint = Kembaneb/Kembane/Kemban To intentionally leave a mark, usually of a substance that smells nice, on a living thing. Has a spiritual connotation, used in some rituals. Can be used for a metaphorical kitty kiss, if your feelings are being returned, you're being brought into a family, etc. When Frostfur taught Cloudtail how to apply makeup to his dull, white pelt, teaching him how to look 'beautiful' as if she was officially accepting him as her son-in-law, THAT can also be considered an Anointing.

Border-Marked/Border-Marking/Will Border Mark = Ssognassa/Ssognass/Ssogna There's no way to get around this. This is spraying. It is urine. They are Cats. This is specifically when you are setting a scent mark, such as that for a border.

Glyph/Written Word/Character = Karm Like a letter! It's something written down. See the Glyphs.

And... rump. Honestly I'm always super confused by this one when I see it in Clangen? Like... My brain's always trying to place what that means.

Is it like, a tuft on the lower spine? Is it the "butt button" that makes a kitty stretch their booty up when you scratch it? Is it the flank of the upper leg? Does it just mean butt cheek?? Who wants to be named BUTTCHEEK?

SO HERE. HERE'S EVERY ONE OF THOSE THINGS, YOU PICK

Spine (the entire back) = Chabak

Rump-tuft, could also apply to "pantaloon" tufts as seen on some longhaired breeds = Chaofa

Rump/Butt Zone/sensitive spot on the lower back of a cat = Chawka (Also used to describe something they have a "soft spot" or passion for)

Belly Zone/Spot that cats don't like having touched on their belly = Bowka (Also used to describe "weak point")

Upper leg/Haunch = Pwaio Sometimes translated as the "foot" suffix. When used in a name, means quick to spring or a good runner, usually outside of WindClan.

Buttcheek = Soopen Also the present-tense of "Sitting." The butt, the thing you use to sit down with.

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, Season 2, Episode 17, "Dead Uncles and Vegetables", Part 2

Read part 1 here and all other episodes here. Luke is giving Lorelai the run down on the Life and Death of Uncle Louie, which is terribly un important. Think it's funny that he doesn't tell Lorelai about the existence of his family members until there's a crisis like his uncle croaking. Lorelai didn't know he had a sister or nephew until Jess was practically on his doorstep. Frankly, the life story of Liz Danes is infinitely more fascinating than Dead Louie's. I have to make a small correction: in the previous post, I stated that Teach Me Tonight was the next episode, but there's actually another wonderful, glorious, absolutely pointless filler episode next. That one where Richard helps Rory with a project for the Chilton business fair and Madelyn invents the Amazon Alexa a full 12 years before Amazon does but Rory sidelines her invention because no one at Chilton knows how to build a robot.

I can't think of a more gruesome place to spend the afterlife. If I happened to die in The Hollow, I would come back and haunt you. I'm gonna haunt you so hard, Lorelai Gilmore. You, Dean. Boom, haunted.

A little healthy competition for Taylor Doose. Just a warmup before Walmart eventually moves in and flattens both markets.

Love Miss Patty. Back at the Inn, Michel notices the 9 rooms that Lorelai reserved for Luke but there is no credit card on file to pay for said rooms. What's that sound? Could it be the sound of Lorelai Gilmore’s gross financial irresponsibility? Could it be that Lorelai just gifted Luke 9 free hotel rooms with no way to make that money back for the Inn?

Ha!

To bring everyone up to speed on the low stakes drama currently under way: Sookie is planning her wedding, and after a fateful soup tasting, Emily has wormed her way in to the wedding planning. Lorelai is predictably miffed. I fear that a day without a Miffed Lorelai would throw the Earth off it's axis.

For at least the second time in so many weeks, Lorelai has just up and left work in the middle of the day to help Luke do something and no one tries to stop her, on top of that she is leaving her real job to go work another job filling in for Luke.

Lorelai Gilmore is an HR rep’s nightmare. Meanwhile at the diner: the war for small town economic dominance rages on between Taylor and the gentle farmer's market hippie, while Lorelai works behind the counter and Rory....

WHHHAAAAA???! First Rory paid for her food, now she's working.... a job??!

Gross. Kirk just ordered lunch, Lorelai is about to bring Luke a turkey burger, and another customer asked Lorelai if they were still serving breakfast, so are we to assume it’s like, around 11am? And Rory is not in school. My word! She pulled a Jess and skipped school to work! It's even funnier when you think about how Luke is basically nobody to Rory at this point but some dick her mom is quietly chasing and her mother pulls her out of school to wait tables at his restaurant. (before anyone says "maybe it's a weekend", Rory was in her Chilton uniform just moments ago). Taylor, observing Miss Patty across the street at the farmer's market: "Since when does Patty eat so much fruit?" This is the woman who told 15 year old Rory that plums were better than sex.

Taylor is quaking in his cardigan, he knows deep down that at any moment his power and stranglehold over Stars Hollow could be usurped in a blink. Hippie: My market is so busy I don't have time to take a break and eat a meal. Taylor: A well groomed businessman with a good staff can afford to take a break now and again. Kirk:

In other Low Stakes Drama, Lorelai has gone upstairs to bring Luke his lunch. He informs Lorelai that none of his relatives are coming to Dead Louie’s funeral, and they both pretend to be sad about it. Jess is nowhere to be found, so I guess unlike Rory, he’s at school, not jerking off for once.

Luke laments the lame excuses that his no good relatives gave for skipping Dead Louie’s funeral, like “I can’t miss work.”

If only they had the generous “Leave work in the middle of a shift to go help the diner guy” PTO package that the Independence Inn provides to Lorelai.

Luke begins the ol’ “name and shame the family members who have stood me up” and to no one’s fucking surprise Liz is among the funeral skippers who isn’t answering his calls (and at the same time isn’t seizing this opportunity to visit her own son and brother).

Oh Liz Danes you are SO getting haunted.

Now this just throws more Confusion Dressing onto the Dead Uncles and Vegetables Salad. On top of the "Rory gets pulled out school to chase her mom's Dick Goals", Jess also isn’t at school, and Luke says he’s…playing basketball. Ha ha ha. From the fantastical imagination of one Miss AmyShermanPalladino, who bought us “Dean likes/knows how to read”, comes its thrilling sequel, “Jess plays sports!"

Okay. Okay. Nothing is as creative or fantastically fictional as “Dean being literate”. And that being said, I could see Jess shooting hoops, I guess? Like maybe he spent time at the parks and playgrounds of New York City to blow off a little steam. Maybe it’s not a terribly ridiculous notion.

Anyhow, much like “I was playing football with my friends” ala the big fat lie in Swan Song, Rory just accepts this statement without question and then calls him a "little punk". Why? The hell did he do? First ya'll are mad he's causing "mischief" and now he's found a wholesome activity to keep him occupied and off the mean streets of Stars Hollow and you're still mad.

That brown shirt looked fucking stellar on him and he had to go and ruin it with a poofy lifejacket. 2000's fashion, man. I love how there is clearly nothing for Jess to do plotwise so they made up this z-plot where Rory keeps getting mad at him for taking time off from work, as if it matters to her, and as if he doesn’t have the most solid work ethic in Stars Hollow and shouldn’t be allowed take a break and play his little basketball game if he wants.

The low stakes drama continues: Jackson shows up at the diner and is not pleased about the intrusion on his wedding…by his fiancée’s coworker’s mother, of all people. I’m sure he had a lot of questions for Sookie about that.

Poor Jess. I'm sure he tried so hard to hold onto that fleeting moment of bliss today, a brief time when he was free, playing basketball, by himself most likely, skipping school, no one bothering him, then Rory shows up and drags him back to work/home for some reason and then Luke forces him to go to a town meeting, He never even got any time to jerk off. I don't understand why Luke goes to these things. Clearly any time there is a meeting he is there not of his own free will, so what are the terrifying consequences for staying home?

Here sits a defeated man. Taylor: You're late Lorelai, I banged this meeting in a half hour ago. Lorelai: Ooh, dirty. Miss Patty's reaction:

Dirty old bat. I love her.

Tell me again why he should care about The Town? Why should anyone care about The Town? Fuck Stars Hollow.

The many faces of Milo. What a cutiemuffin gumdrop. Ah the famous scene where many claim to see Milo mouthing "I love you" at Alexis across the seats, to me it just looks like he's chewing his lip. The way he is looking at her is incredibly precious and adoring nonetheless. Lord, I think I just popped an ovary. Ow. In keeping with my "What if this other story but literati?" tendencies, here's a modern Pride & Prejudice AU.

The Bennett Sisters

A literati pride and prejudice AU that I have no intention of actually writing.

Setting:

A city in 2020s America. The Bennett sisters have been musically talented their whole lives, but it took being stuck at home during the pandemic for them to start a band. They started out playing shows online, then small outdoor gigs. They have a small but growing fan base.

Characters:

The sisters:

Jane Bennett, played by Lane Kim, drummer extraordinaire

Elizabeth Bennett, played by Rory Gilmore, bassist, co-song-writer

Mary Bennett, played by Paris Gellar, keyboardist, co-song-writer

Lydia Bennett, played by Louise Grant, lead singer

Kitty Bennett, played by Madeline Lynn, guitar

Other characters:

Mrs Bennett, played by Lorelei Gilmore, their ambitious manager who wants her daughters to succeed.

Mr Bennett, played by Christopher Hayden, a music company executive who works with his daughters as well as many other bands. A largely absentee father who nonetheless made sure the house was full of music

Charles Bingley, played by Dave Rygalski, an up-and-coming artist who comes to town to record his next album

Fitzwilliam (Will) Darcy, played by Jess Mariano, Bingley’s best friend and successful singer-songwriter

Wickham, played by Tristan DuGrey, will threaten the band’s future when he convinces Lydia to run off with him

Mr Collins, played by Logan Huntzburger, a businessman running a popular music streaming service that is buying out the music company Mr Bennett works for. Refers to art as “content”

Mr and Mrs Gardiner, played by Sookie St James and Jackson Belleville, take Elizabeth on a short vacation

Sookie and Noah are both nerds and both love Marvel a lot (Sookie a tiny bit more than him) they're also both into DnD/TTRPG

It doesn't seem like it but Tristan loves Sherlock Holmes stories. He's quite interested in detective stories and crime plots in general. He also owns a variety of books, most of them belong to his sister, but he still read them (and likes to analyse the plot and rant about characters' "dumb decisions" xD)

Orpheus loves Make-Up and fashion, he likes to try new things and outfits (the more ✨️glitter✨️ the better)

My new OC Elias is super interested in horror and supernatural stuff (like ghosts etc.) [I don't know if I will talk about him on here more but I felt like to mention him]

I am obsessed with the idea of Sookie being a kind-hearted sister towards Charlotte, and also scenarios of Sookie and Lawrence meeting Clarence and their reactions.:

While I know that Charlotte is distant from others (Lawrence and Maire, I wouldn't be surprised about Wick.) Yet my brain did not feel reluctant upon throwing it under my face lol.

Imagine Sookie, despite knowing how much of a spoiled personality Charlotte is, still continues treating her well and invites her to her house and having a chat over relaxing tea and sweets. She even offers to comfort Charlotte whenever she feels she has a bad day or whatsoever. (Sookie being the mother hen she is.)

Like I know Charlotte is jealous of Sookie having a family. However Sookie on the other hand has an opposite reaction to this, like perhaps she could teach Charlotte about good values, how to be kind to others, or how to have humility and handle rejection. While she knows she can't force Charlotte about it, at least she has a reason why she's doing this to her. It'll take a long time for Charlotte to build up trust and maybe develop as a person.

She wants Charlotte to not end up like her when it comes to dating someone, or per say having a boyfriend. Sookie fears Charlotte wouldn't handle being treated miserably like Sookie was when was formerly married, thus Sookie divorced her husband due to finding out he slept with another woman at night.

(Another reason why Sookie lives separately with her daughter.)

Hence I can totally see Sookie not approving Clarence dating Charlotte because she's not sure if Clarence would treat Charlotte alright or rather be loyal to her and not cheat her with another woman. Imagine Sookie giving Charlotte a pep talk like “Listen, I am happy that you date someone… But I don't want to sound like Mother, however please try to talk to your boyfriend about it? Please?”

Off topic but if Lawrence meets Clarence (I dunno if Charlotte is official with Clarence) then he absolutely disapproves of him dating Charlotte. Lawrence gets strict and overprotective when it comes to his siblings dating someone, depending on the person.

Lawrence is an uptight law-abiding man like Wick but far more harsh, when finding out Clarence owns a distillery he absolutely does not allow Charlotte to be with Clarence at all. Even if the two attempted meeting up privately, that did not stop Lawrence finding ways to get rid of Clarence. (Charlotte would 100% wouldn't like how Lawrence is now treating Clarence.)

Lawrence literally holds more power than Clarence and I do mean he can have the power to yeet Clarence to jail if he tried hurting Charlotte or one of his siblings. No matter how much evidence Clarence tried to hide or fabricate it with lies it won't be successful at all, so I can imagine he is trying his best not to shake underneath his shoes whenever Lawrence is glaring at him.

Clarence: I am dating your sister, so I am soon going to be your 'brother-in-law'.

Lawrence: Moreso you're going to be 'no-longer-my-brother-in-law'. *Holds a bunch of files of evidence, and handcuffs he got from who knows.*

Edit: I had fun writing this btw, I didn't included Maire to this cause she pretty much doesn't care about whoever Charlotte is dating.

I mean, if parts of the family reached out to Charlotte, I doubt Charlotte would turn them down (outside of maybe Wick) just to be polite. I do admire Sookie's efforts, but when it comes to Charlotte I think she needs a stronger motivation. In the main fic, this comes in the form of Silver and Silver's ex husband, Silver never bending to Charlotte's BS, and Valentin, whom Charlotte almost cheated with, being revealed to have cheated and tried to "run away" with many other women in the past, only to abandon them. Nearly becoming one of those women really woke Charlotte up, I would say. Though after the fact I imagine she'd understand what Sookie was trying to do previously and be grateful to her.

I don't think Clarence is a cheater. I do think, in a very annoying way, he is very dedicated to Charlotte when she's still petty and wants a leg up on others. Making the couple, I really wanted them to be that annoying couple who, therefore, always shows off to people and always has the other's back, even when the other is being nasty. Not to say Clarence is good, of course, considering he is homophobic and encourages Charlotte to be terrible, but I do think he's dedicated to Charlotte either way.

I am not sure Lawrence's actions would help the situation either, as it'd just make Charlotte feel more like it's "Clarence and her against the world". Plus, with the variety of people Clarence knows, I think it'd be difficult to keep him in jail, and, even if Lawrence managed it, I doubt Clarence would be treated poorly there. If anything, whenever Clarence gets out, Lawrence would just encourage Charlotte to do what she thought she was doing with Valentin and run away/disappear with Clarence. It's an interesting dilemma indeed.

Though, in the main fic, Charlotte does come around, I am not yet certain who she dates at that point. That being said, I think she works on her internalized biphobia and ends up dating another woman. Probably law-abiding for the most part.

Maristella does not like children at all, but Lumi is now her execption. She's basically a wine aunt. Sookie is just glad Maire accepts Lumi.

If you don't know or remember, Maristella is my other oc who's is Wick's sister. Sookie is a fan made one I have interpret from the Lackadaisy wiki, Wick also have a older twin but it's still in development. (*coughs* It's just me subtracting my many lacaka ocs that aren't needed so I won't torture myself dealing/writing+designing many of them.)

Ryan Kwanten’s Performance as Jason Stackhouse.....

This is more or less an appreciation post for Ryan Kwanten and the way he played Jason on True Blood. There are times where Ryan gets overlooked, ignored, or underappreciated for his performance (as well as what he brought to Jason's character) and I wanted to take the time to recognize what he contributed.

I've always been impressed with Ryan’s ability to balance the comedic scenes with Jason's character. There are many moments on the show where I found things Jason said or did to be hilarious (even if was unintentional on the character's part), and a lot of that had to do with the way Ryan played Jason. One example is in the season 1 finale when Jason visits Sookie after what happened with Rene and promises to look after her, only to turn around and accidentally stumble into the table behind him. It's a moment where Jason's being heartfelt and sincere, but we're also allowed to laugh at his expense, and I love it! Another is the way he delivers some of Jason's malapropisms ("I might be parrot-phrasing a little"), or even when he does physical comedy (Jason getting priapism in season 1, playing with office supplies at the police station, etc). He's good at portraying Jason as foolish in certain scenes while also having Jason be sincere in that foolishness, which is what really sells it for me. It's both funny and interesting to watch.

At the same time, I also love the way he plays the emotionally serious moments for Jason. Some of my favorites include the conversation he has with Sookie at the hotel in season 2 and the way Jason reconciles with his sister while also mourning Gran's death. Or that scene at the Fellowship of the Sun where Jason does the improv of staking a vampire with Sarah and finally gets the recognition he's wanted, only to flashback to Eddie's death in that moment and become horrified and sickened at what he's doing. Or even in season 5 when Hoyt leaves and he breaks down crying in Sookie's arms. Again, there was a sincerity to Ryan's performance that made me sympathize with Jason and realize there was a lot more going on underneath the surface.

One particular moment that sticks out for me above the rest is in season 5 when Jason visits the teacher who raped him when he was a teenager. Ryan's acting in that episode was subtle, but it managed to leave an impression on me: The way he initially portrays Jason as being excited and happy to see a familiar face. Then the epiphany Jason gets when he has sex with his teacher again and fully realizes that what she did to him was rape. Then the horror and sadness at recognizing how much that relationship messed him up and twisted his self-worth and his perception of sex. It was a heartbreaking performance, and Ryan's acting was stellar.

Also, when I first watched this show, I had no idea Ryan was Australian until I saw him in an interview. He did a great job with his southern accent to the point I thought that's how he actually talked.

I know that fan attitudes towards Jason are all over the place (some people like him, hate him, are indifferent, etc), but regardless of this, I would argue Ryan brought heart and passion to Jason's character. I admire his willingness to present Jason as a morally grey character, with both his likable and unlikable qualities. It was a balancing act, and I believe Ryan did a good job with what he was given to work with.

As a last note, I've seen Ryan in other projects like Griff The Invisible, Red Hill, The Oath, and Glorious (2022), and I've enjoyed his performances in those. He's a great actor with a wide range of skills, and Griff The Invisible remains an underrated classic for me. I hope he gets good roles in the future, as well as more recognition for his work.

So I reread your headcanon of Doula being a rebel like teen Jess, and I would like to add something -

So I read in a Medium article of how siblings, when even despite being given the same treatment from parents, they end up becoming two very different people; they cited Luke and Liz as an example.

So I was wondering- could this mean that Jess and Doula can become mirror versions of each other even despite experiencing different versions of Liz as a mother?

So... For example, Liz ran to New York and raised Jess as a single mom, and Jess had to do most of his growing up on his own; so maybe Liz and TJ are romantically entangled that they don't pay attention to Doula, and she's supposed to take care of herself and doesn't tell Luke or Lorelai, because she feels like a burden. And then, there's the relationship between Liz-Jess and Liz-Doula, where the former is somewhat complex and the latter parallels ASP's fraught mother-daughter/daughter-in-law relationships (Lorelai-Emily, Midge-Rose, Fanny-Michelle from Bunheads) but Liz is the immature one and Doula is the one who looks pained but has the final mic drop (you can see that in GG season 2 episode 2; Mrs Maisel season 3 episode 8, and Bunheads episode 11).

In terms of Jess and Doula's relationship, it could parallel Luke and Liz's, but sometimes it can parallel Lorelai and Rory's relationship, where Doula says something and Jess is inspired in many ways...

I also think Doula and Rory should have a love-hate relationship, where Doula doesn't like the way Rory is very indecisive in choosing Jess or Logan and she gives her a very rude awakening/ shake up like Jess's tough love talk in GG 06x08. But then, she shows that she cares for Rory in different ways like encouraging her to pursue Jess or even help babysit Rory's kid and listen whenever Rory feels low.

What do you think? I would love to know your thoughts.

So it's been a while since I came up with my Doula headcanons so I don't quite remember my reasons or if I imagined that a rebellious Doula was going to live in a AYITL-canon world. I think what I was mostly interested in was how Jess is sort of unique on the show when it comes to being such an outcast in town. I liked the idea of a grown Jess seeing his past replay itself with another teen and him standing up for that kid and sort of healing his inner child through that experience.

I also think it would've been a great excuse to get to interrogate Liz' parenting and what this was truly like. Because we sort of take for granted that she either 100% sucked or that she was just some goofball based on how we as viewers interpret the hints and references to Jess' childhood and her love life before TJ. But we never get a proper canon dive into how Liz was as a mother to Jess, and I think showing how she raises or fails to raise Doula could force that into the light.

I also just liked coming up with a different approach to Doula because at the time I wrote that headcanon I had only seen headcanons about Doula where she was a very ideal little sister who was mostly there to help set up Jess and Rory, and one thing I love about Gilmore Girls is how so many side characters genuinely get to exist outside of the romantic plots. We would not have characters like Lane or Paris or Sookie in the capacity that we have if all ASP and crew cared about was writing Rory and Lorelai's romantic storylines and their conflicts with Emily and Richard. So I'd like to think a teenaged or grown up Doula would get to be her own character with an actual arc in relation to her brother, if the show had continued in some way. And teenage rebelliousness felt like an obvious but solid route to go.
