Totems of love. A tower of propping all from our collection of found and new. The big round cement object is @hollyhuntminneapolis and sits in my bedroom as a reminder that round shapes are so inspiring in spaces filled with squares. // Tile flooring like sand. What's so good here is what is old. This floor is a masterpiece. All hand cut and laid well over a century ago. The paneling, the window hardware and all the old glass wavy near the bottom from decades of standing in painted wood frames. // This is a lesson in visual storytelling. What is around this lidded box is just as important as the box itself. The box belongs in a vintage environment with layered texture and history. // The folded papers on top of the box were found on a buying trip to Atlanta. I shipped up a crate full of goods to Chicago for this shoot. This time of year as the days get shorter always reminds me of a location shoot in Chicago. We scouted several locations and this one happened on a porch in historic Oak Park. // It was dark because this porch was completely covered in a Prairie style home built at the end of the 1800s.
