She had her kittens in my bedroom closet during the night. I can't believe I have to work the next 2 days. I promise I'll take more pictures this weekend and post them.
Mom cat gave birth today in the charcoal bag. Uhm. The two spotted ones fell out and hit the porch. Charcoal bag was on a bench I am. Trying to get mom cat to take care of them so far I've had littke luck.
The black spotted is doing good I got them both cleaned but I can't get the ginger spotted to feed so if there's any tips I'd love to know I really want them to live
I'll take some better pics as more come out. Everybody tell Sylvie she is a GOOD MAMA CAT for using the box I set up for her, as opposed to using my bed or bookcase or equally awkward spot as her birthing bed
How to Take Care of a Newborn Kitten Without a Mother
Planning to adopt a newborn kitten? First, you need to know about how to take care of a newborn kitten without a mother. You need to look after the kitten and feed it with a special formula after consulting with a vet. Keeping the kitten constantly warm is very crucial for a few weeks. Caring for newborn kittens without a mother is a very complex task and not everybody is cut out for it but if you are still willing to adopt one orphaned young cat, be ready to supervise it.
This is Sandy, a stray cat that my mom and I have been feeding for close to a year. On the morning of April 15, she gave birth right out in the open in our backyard. We think she may have been heading for or trying to find a better place, but just didn't make it in time. Mom pulled the patio table over so they'd have at least a little shelter until we could get them indoors.
Right now mama cat and kittens are safe and (we hope) comfortable inside our screened-in porch. Mom and I both hope to get Sandy spayed and find the kittens good homes when they're ready. Mom also wants to keep Sandy if at all possible. Sandy and my cat Zena know about each other, and seem to be good friends - they greet each other at the window sometimes, and I feed Zena about the same time Sandy comes over for dinner, so both of them associate good times with each other.
Don't know what to name the kittens yet, it's a little too early to get a read on their personalities - though the two orange ones seem to fuss at each other a bit. Right now they're all just nursing and sleeping, but I know it won't be long before the real fun starts, and boy howdy it's going to be difficult as hell to go to work every day knowing there's kittens at home I can be playing with, damn it! Seriously, I wish I could get some sort of temporary leave to help foster these little guys. Like, for the whole 6-8 weeks necessary. They need to be handled by people so they can get used to living with them, right?
Anyway, I'll try to take more pictures as they grow up and keep y'all updated.
