i found something in the woods somewhere // javid
Tumblr media
Summary:
Fresh. That’s the word that he keeps coming back to. Growing up in the city, he’s never had access to this kind of environment– fresh air and quiet, trees everywhere, dense wood all around. It’s lovely, but David really hasn’t had the chance to explore it.
Something tugs in his chest, and whispers in the back of his mind: You have time now. Why not?
Seventeen minutes later, dressed in jeans and converse, wearing a blue and black flannel, with nothing but a backpack full of four plastic water bottles and a whole box of granola bars, David crosses the treeline in his own backyard and walks into the woods. - David Jacobs doesn't know who he is. He wants to find out.
Jack Kelly knows exactly who he is. Maybe he doesn't want to.
After a lifetime of feeling stagnant, Jack and David search for the answers.

newsies fic recs
cause you all asked
unfortunately i remember a lot of the good ones were on tumblr and so many people have changed their urls that they are not findable but, heres what i got
also keep in mind i havent read any of these in years and the summaries im giving are probably ass
these are all mostly ralbert, because that was what i read the most of, except for the ones at the end
the toaster fic (i used to remember this persons tumblr @ like 5 url changes ago but my brain is small and soupy so i am sorry). its crack, under 2k, absolute silliness and im still laughing about it five years later. modern era.
side by side its a really long ralbert soulmates fic where they are oblivious to hell and back. from what i remember its fluffy and silly. modern era.
voice okay she slaps ngl. its a modern era kind of angst situation. albert is mute. theres some referenced homophobia. lots of cuddles. 6k.
shaking thisss is a sick fic if i remember correctly. race is silly and gets a cold and there is cuddling. definitely part of a larger spralmer au but it works as a stand alone. under 5k. modern.
let the memory live again THIS FIC o gosh its killed me several times over. might be my favorite. idk. its up there. modern ralbert au. sad but also happy. albert is supposed to be dead and is not. he also has amnesia. its like 14k. read it at 2 am for maximum effect. god tier.
a love that will never grow old this is a sad canon era soulmate fic. race is alberts soulmate but albert is not races. theres also a sequel. the good kind of dad. multihap, 9k.
hero complex by @turtle-steverogers classic little ralbert oneshot, perfect amount of angst and comfort. albert is a firefighter and race is Worried also theres a dog. about 3k. modern.
thank u, next by the one and only @jack-kellys. its paranormal. its funky. its modern. its five parts and its complete. its 12k words and honestly like. i remember reading this and going absolutely batshit fizz is such a good writer (and is still actively writing newsies, throw them some prompts they love javey)
dont leave me by @sun-kissed-star its sprace, modern and spot is in the military. a good angst fluff angst ping pong match. 3.5k. theres some good and funny little jack moments :)
story written on skin by @patrocool oh my god the most well written soulmate au that i can possibly remember stumbling across at 3 in the morning and crying while reading. its a canon era sprace one. soulmate au where if one person gets injured the other person gets a mark. its really good. theres a part 1 and 2 and its long. like 15k long. read at 3am for best results.
the beast of brooklyn which i dont remember if ive actually read but i was asked to include it on the list so i did. mafia sort of au but also kind of beauty and the beast. well written and beautiful. fuckton of angst. sprace. modern.

"Wh- so you did remember my birthday!" || "Of course I did. How could I ever forget?" with Jack Kelly?
This one's lowkey v cute! I hope you enjoy!
Still accepting blurb requests!
Fluff 21 - "Wh- so you did remember my birthday!" || "Of course I did. How could I ever forget?"
Tumblr media
If you were to ask Crutchie, he would say that Jack was moping.
A claim that Jack himself would vehemently deny. Jack Kelly did not mope, though that didn't mean that he didn't occasionally feel a tad bit disappointed. Especially when his girlfriend avoided him at every turn and gave absolutely zero inclination that she knew his birthday had been coming up.
And, yes, perhaps that mild upset was showing through Jack isolating himself on the roof of the lodging house with only his sketchbook for company. If you were to ask Jack, that was the ideal way for anyone to spend their birthday.
So no, of course he was not moping, no matter what Crutchie and Race and whoever else had to say about it.
"Jackie? You up here? The guys said they saw you head up here."
Jack tensed up at the familiar voice floating up to where he sat sketching from his penthouse.
"Oh so you actually want to talk to me now?" Jack bit out before he could think better of it.
Okay, so maybe Jack was a little more upset than he wanted to let on.
"Jackie?"
He let out a long sigh, snapping his sketchbook shut and turning around to face his girlfriend.
Y/N stood at the edge of the penthouse, her arms behind her back. There was a nervous smile on her face, and she was bouncing up and down a little on her heels. Her clothes were surprisingly clean considering that Jack knew she had been working far harder than usual lately.
"Yeah?"
"I have something for you," she said, smile widening.
Jack raised a single eyebrow at her, refusing to let her words raise his hopes.
Y/N crossed over to him, moving her hands to her front to present him with two small parcels and a piece of card.
"It's not much - but happy birthday, Jackie."
Jack blinked at her, staring between his girlfriend and the gifts she was presenting him with.
"Wh- so you did remember my birthday?" Jack asked in mild disbelief. Y/N let out a quiet laugh, biting her lip as she nodded.
"Of course I did. How could I ever forget?" Y/N asked, her voice soft.
"But you've been avoiding me."
"I wanted it to be a surprise. And I've been taking a couple of extra jobs to try and save up for what I wanted to get for you."
"You didn't have to do that!" Jack hadn't realised he had stood up until he had already crossed over to her. He clasped his hands ever-so gently on her arms.
"Of course I did - I love you, Jackie! Happy birthday!"
Jack learned and pecked her cheek before accepting the objects in her arms. He couldn't help but laugh at the card - two crudely drawn figures on the front holding what Jack presumed were meant to be newspapers.
"Yeah, okay - we can't all be artistic geniuses, Kelly," Y/N huffed, pouting.
"It's beautiful. I'll treasure it forever, baby," Jack promised, swallowing back any further laughter that threatened to bubble up.
True to his word, he strode over to where he had tacked up several of his own drawings to the railings, adding the birthday card to the mix.
"Crutchie is going to think your artistic talent took a serious hit," Y/N snorted, and Jack turned around just in time to see her flop down onto the piles of old clothes and blankets which served as Jack's bed.
Jack just grinned at her, joining her on the bed and carefully peeling away the newspaper which wrapped the two parcels.
A single cupcake was revealed in the first box and Jack's mouth watered at just the sight of it.
"This must've cost a fortune,"
"You deserve a birthday cake, Jackie - not every day you turn 18," Y/N murmured, grabbing hold of his hand and giving it a quick squeeze.
"I love you," he said, tightening his hold on her when she tried to pull away and instead tugging her closer to peck her lips.
"Yeah, yeah," Y/N waved it off. "Open the other one. That's the real present."
"The real present?" Jack repeated incredulously. Y/N just nodded eagerly, eyes fixed on the scruffy parcel. Jack picked it apart carefully, his eyes widening as he revealed a brand new set of paints for him to use. "How the fuck did you buy these?" He whispered.
"I told you - I've been taking a lot of extra work," Y/N shrugged bashfully.
Jack didn't think twice before lunging towards her to pull her into a long, deep kiss.

“Cause I'm usin’ my brain, Blink. He's too good for me. He's got a future and a family. The last thing I wanna do is ruin that for him.”
Jack slumped forward, elbows on his knees. His cigarette dropped to the pavement, and he stamped it out with his boot. Blink watched the ashes spread with a creased brow.
“Is that what Davey told you? ‘Cause if not, sounds to me like you're makin’ assumptions on his behalf. You don't know what Davey wants unless you ask him. If he thinks he's too good for you, he'll say as much. Then you'll know who your friends are, and you can move on.”
Jack smiled wryly. His expression fell slowly, and the same pain as before crept back onto his face. “Move on?”

Thinking about the Ralbert Flowershop/ Tattoo Parlour AU.
Albert, who's been working at his friend Buttons flowershop for almost five years, when Button's boyfriend, JoJo, opened a tattoo parlour across the road.
JoJo ends up sending one of his workers, Racetrack, to go over and order an arrangement to decorate the place a bit more.
Racetrack and Albert then meet and grow closer and you know the drill and yes.

fandom: newsies (1992) pairings: jack kelly/david jacobs rating: T tags: slow burn, friends to lovers, recovery, found family word count: 30k
There’s something that sticks out like broken glass, a memory that’s sore and tender that Jack can’t smooth over, even after all these years – a summer storm brewing, a birthday candle just blown out, and Medda standing by the door, hands pressed over her mouth. It’s jarring, how the memory comes back, gnawing at him. It was a lifetime ago. The kid who used to wait in the wings, whose whole life spun on a tumultuous carousel of uncertainty and loss, is a kid Jack doesn’t know any more. Or: this is Jack's story - what came before the strike, and what came after.
notes: what possible reason do i have for reposting newsies fic here in the year of our lord 2024, thirty-two years after this film came out, and ten years after i started writing this story? excellent question.
someone very kindly read and commented on this fic recently, and it got me thinking about it again. i read through it, and i really noticed how unfinished the back half of the story felt, and i decided i wanted to get it back into a shape that felt like it had a satisfactory ending. which is how i found myself adding what is now over 3000+ extra words to the story.
the moral of it is: favourite fandoms are favourite fandoms for life, even ten years later.

🌻🌺!
hiya hehe
🌺: angst line from a published work?
ok this is a. sequence from my revised rooftop scene that i think just. gets across the tension that should’ve been there
“It does, because I need to know what team you’re on, Jack,” she says.
“I’m on my team,” Jack scoffs. “And so were you, until Pulitzer–”
“Which ‘my’?” she interjects, poking his chest with a finger. Jack’s eyes narrow. “You, or the kids?”
“Me and the kids,” he corrects, uneasily.
“No, Jack,” she frowns. “Or. Are you playing the short game, keeping the kids safe at all costs, or the long one where you end up on a train?”
Oh.
He opens his mouth, only to close it, eyebrows furrowing. When he’d seen the wad of cash, had the glimmer of hope been for the Jacobs’ safety, or for rolling fields, warm winds, crisp, dry air…
He shakes his head out, face flushing as he glares at her.
“Fuck you!” he yells. “‘Cause what game are you playing, huh? You actually give a shit about if we end up in a jail, or does that stop once you make front page again and again? How much charity you got left, Pulitzer, enough to give us another couple hundred words or not?!”
She flushes too, and there’s a hot, ugly streak of satisfaction that pulses through his gut.
“I ought to smack you for that,” she mutters, which only makes Jack’s anger heat up hotter.
“You would think you can say that to me,” he laughs bitterly. “If you weren’t the Queen of the Upper Class, you’d have a bruise on your jaw ten minutes ago.”
She whirls on him at that, gripping the front of his shirt. Again, they stare at each other.
Jack can see there’s self-reflective pain somewhere in her eyes. Guilty of a crime she’s associated with, if not charged with. Jack can only hope she doesn’t see the generations of exhaustion in his own gaze.
yeah anyway haha. that’s my fav fic ever. pls read it happy black history month pls read nonwhite jack fics
🌻: funny line from a published work?
lmao. bfu au duh
“Weird place for a door,” Jack hears Davey observe absently. His partner has a habit of saying what he’s thinking out loud, and it never fails to make Jack smile. “Since the kitchen’s here, it…”
Davey pauses, blinking and looking back at the camera. “Right. Anyway, a child died behind us.”

“Corner!”
That’s all the warning David gets before a body rounds the corner and rams straight into his own. He sees it first, a curly mop of blonde hair, a high-pitched yell, a tray flying out of hands— all too suddenly, David is splayed on his back on the kitchen floor, and all too suddenly, his white shirt is soaked in something chunky and wet.
Racer immediately kneels down next to him, eyes wide as one of the big pans they use to cook up all of the fries. “David! Oh, shit! Man, are you okay?”
“I— Yeah, I’m fine. Get me up,” David says, but as soon as he sits up, there’s a distinct pain in the middle of his back. He winces, and that must be noticeable, because Racer instantly starts asking questions.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine, just—“
“No, you’re hurt, aren’t you? Fuck, I am so sorry, I didn’t know you were right there, I’m sorry—“
With a sigh, David grabs onto Racer’s shoulder, slowly pushing himself up to a standing position despite the blossoming feeling of ow currently pulsating through his body. “Kid, you’re okay, okay? You’re fine,” David says through gritted teeth.
Everyone in the kitchen is looking at them by now. David slowly turns to give them all a glance, noticing that something is missing— and just at that moment, Jack walks into the kitchen, smelling like cigarette smoke masked by a high-end cologne.
Jack stops just before the mess on the floor, taking it in with wide eyes, and he quickly looks up and makes eye contact with David. “What the hell happened?”
David sees the nervous look on Racer’s face, so he concedes and says, “It’s my fault. I was leaving and ran into Racer, I fell down and dropped the food. I’ll clean it up.”
“Clean yourself up first,” Jack comments, gesturing to David’s shirt, smeared with all sorts of colors: red and green salsa, garlic aioli, ranch and ketchup— a menagerie of condiments for a menagerie of burgers. “You didn’t get hurt when you fell, did’ja?”
“No, I—“
“He fucked up his back,” Race says from the side, and David gives him a nudge with his elbow. “He’s movin’ slow and it looked like he hurt when he sat up.”
Jack takes the information in, and gestures to the dishwasher. “I’ll give you a ten if you clean this up,” he says, gesturing to the pocket his wallet resides in, and the dishwasher responds with a curt nod. Turning to his linecooks, Jack nods to them as well. “Keep doin’ what you’re doin’. Rush isn’t startin’ for another twenty minutes, I’ll be back in ten at the most. Got it?”
“On it,” Specs pipes up, not even looking away from the task at hand.
With that done, David watches as Jack reaches out, then sighs at the feeling of Jack’s hand on his shoulder. They walk slowly to the manager’s office- a larger room off to the side of the kitchen, with a couple of comfy chairs and a place for staff to eat their food.
“Don’t bother Charlie with this, please,” David says, head lolling just enough to look at Jack. “I’m fine, really.”
Jack clicks his tongue a few times, then pulls out his keyring and unlocks the door. “Charlie ain’t here,” He murmurs, pushing the door open and leading Davey inside, only to lock the door behind them. “He’s runnin’ up to the bank. Register’s almost outta change for customers.”
“Ohhh, okay, makes sense,” David nods, then takes in a deep breath. “So… can I go, if he’s not here? I have tables I need to check on.”
“They can wait. Your health is more important than a table,” Jack says like it’s the easiest thing to understand, and Davey wants to agree, but he never knows. A few good tips could be the difference between eating and not.
But he doesn’t bother arguing with Jack, because that’s never gotten him anywhere in the past.
Jack, after rummaging around in a locker for a moment, comes back to Davey with a clean- albeit wrinkled- white shirt. He sets it down on Charlie’s desk, and walks back to David, and suddenly, there’s a tenderness in his eyes that wasn’t there before— a carefully concealed care. Jack cups his cheek, and leans up to press a soft kiss to his forehead.
With that, Jack makes gentle work of untucking David’s shirt, working the buttons open until he can push the fabric off of his shoulders.
David gulps, and says, “I wish you were undressing me in a different circumstance right now.”
That quip gets a grin in response, Jack looking up at him with bright eyes. “Turn around, you dumbass.” And who is David not to comply? He turns, feeling Jack’s hands on his back. “Hm… It looks a little red,” He mumbles. “You sure you feel okay?”
David hesitates, then nods. “Yeah, I just… I guess I’m taking it slow today,” he murmurs. “If it gets worse, I’ll call out tomorrow. Racer owes me a covered shift anyway, I’ll talk to him if I need to.”
“If you’re sure,” Jack says softly, kissing the back of David’s neck. He then gently turns David around in his arms, running a hand through his hair. “Make sure you let me know if you need to go home, okay? I got a lotta sway over Char.”
David just grins and leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to Jack’s lips. “I’d rather go home with you,” He says softly, then sighs, grabbing the shirt off of Charlie’s desk. “I need to go check on my tables. I’d love to stay in here and have you all over me, but…”
Jack rolls his eyes. “I wasn’t all over you. I was makin’ sure you weren’t hurt,” He defends, though his smile is more than telling.
With a shake of his head, Davey finishes buttoning his new shirt, tucking it into his belt. It’s a little loose on him- it’s likely Jack’s- but he rolls the sleeves up and smiles in Jack’s direction. “Thank you, ahuví,” David says, and gives Jack one last kiss on the lips before they both walk towards the door.
“Ready to hate each other again?” Jack asks, and David squeezes his hand three times. They both walk out, discarding the dirty shirt into one of the trashcans in the kitchen, and David walks back to the front of house with a new smile on his face.

questionable government spies but better written and five years late: a newsies multichap coming tonight, july 2, 2023 EST
hi hello. it’s me saph. back at it again.
the title is exactly what this looks like.
for those of you that were familiar with the first iteration of this story, welcome back, i’m so happy to have you. for those of you who are not, welcome to my long anticipated spies fic. this was originally published under the user @/suddenly-im-respecsable in about 2018-2019 (there is the early version still floating on tumblr but i have changed my url since and it’s not easily findable) and was cross posted on ao3 but was taken down
the basic gist of the story was that race and albert were fbi agents and were field training jack. they get summoned to nyc (where they were trained) to deal with some super hard gang case that no one can crack. in the process they meet spot who is working for said gang and wants out. davey jacobs is the head of the nyc branch of the fbi and hates race and albert because they almost blew up his weapons lab.
i think i got through 14 ish chapters before realizing the whole thing was badly written and in order for it to be what i wanted it to be i needed to redo it. and then i graduated high school and started college and changed fandoms and started dating my boyfriend and there was a global pandemic and then i graduated college and all of that.
and now, 5 years later, i am back on my bullshit, this time with a creative writing degree under my belt and @ainti-pretty to force me to finish what i started. the plot is all relatively the same, just a little tweaked. i never got to the point of all the plot twists so if you read the original version you have no spoilers besides some background knowledge that i am changing around a little. im working entirely off of my original hand written outline that is on the back of my notes from my 11th grade english class
and what motivated me to do this now you may ask? well i’m interning in nyc over the summer and can do irl accurate location mapping lol. that and i made a tumblr to literally post this story and i never finished it so i figured that i should probably do that. and if you’re doubting that this will get finished, which, fair, @ainti-pretty and i are literally living together next year and i am certain that i will be hounded about this every day of my existence
i am tagging people who i remember being very excited about this back in the day. if you want to be tagged in future parts of this please let me know. if you don’t just feel free to ignore :) @sun-kissed-star @getchapapes @jack-kellys @spot-conlon-king-of-brooklyn @fairly-awkward-trashcan @ritsunaru @heller-obama @turtle-steverogers @boygirlctommy @newsies-trash-queen @telling-tragedy @alberteatsglass
and since i have every ounce of this planned, here is my casting if you are interested:
92sies: mush, blink, davey
obc: spot, crutchie, smalls, medda, pulitzer
toursies: specs
proshot: albert, romeo, elmer, buttons, jojo, (anyone else i’ve forgotten is probably proshot)
uksies: jack, finch
race: weird combo of btc and giuseppe bausillo
katherine: a literal tiktok girlie
i am cross posting this on ao3, the tumblr version will all be tagged under #spies 2.0 and it will all me master posted and pinned on my blog.
im so excited :)) this fic is my baby and i want to thank everyone who has read it previously and everyone who will this go around. let me know if you want to be tagged !!

May I request a blurb for the prompt “Do you want me to carry you?” with Davey Jacobs x Reader? Or Jack Kelly x Reader, whichever you prefer.
I hope you enjoy!! This is my first time writing for Davey so let me know what you think!
Still accepting blurb requests!
Fluff 17 - "Do you want me to carry you?"
Tumblr media
Les was fast asleep, head resting on Y/N's knees as she idly combed through the kid's hair, talking to the other Newsies.
Davey, Jack and Les had finished up selling early that day and so had headed back to the lodging house to kill time, and go over future plans for the union. One by one, as more Newsies had returned from their days exploits, the conversation had gone from work-orientated to just chatting among each other.
Davey seemed more at ease than Y/N had seen him... well, ever, if she was going to be honest. Since she had met him, Davey had been stressed out and nervous about the future of his family, the strike, the union and now his newly acquainted brothers. So it was nice to see him relaxing with the other sellers. Cracking jokes with Crutchie and teasing Race over his latest gambling loss.
Les, however, had not quite kept up. He had come over to Y/N almost the moment she had returned to the lodging house and sat down to join her friends and demanded her attention. The kid was inexplicably fond of her - Y/N suspected it had something to do with her teaching him to tie his laces, and agreeing not to tell the other boys he hadn't known how to do it up until then in case they teased him.
Davey had confided in her that Les' admiration more than likely actually stemmed from the strike itself. She had stuck by his side through the whole ordeal, taking a couple of blows on his behalf when the bulls had arrived and she had been desperate to get him as far away from the fighting as possible.
(Davey had also admitted, rather shyly, with flushed pink cheeks that he, too, had been touched by the attention shown to his younger brother. Grateful to her that she had been looking out for him. Y/N had wondered then if she was naive for wanting to read into his words, to try and convince herself that he returned her affections)
Les had grown sleepy quickly, though. And had passed out across Y/N's lap with the quiet murmurings of the Newsies to keep him company. Davey had met her eyes a couple of times across the room, since seeing his younger brother fast asleep on her lap. And there was an undeniable apology in his expression, which Y/N was quick to dismiss each time with a grin and shake of her head.
She didn't mind it at all.
(And no, that had nothing to do with the warm feeling in the pit of her stomach when she saw Davey looking over towards her and Les with such gentle affection)
The evening had, in short, been close to perfect.
Davey stood from where he had been resting on Crutchie's bed, leaning against the wall as he chatted idly with Race and Albert, and he stretched out his arms. Y/N could have sworn that she heard his back give a crack at the movement.
"I should probably get home - our folks will be worrying about us," Davey offered by way of explanation. There were nods and farewells called to him from around the room and Davey picked his way across the floor to reach Y/N and Les.
He offered her the shy smile she was used to seeing him wear and he reached up to ruffle his hair a little under his cap.
"Figure I should collect your limpet," he said, a teasing edge to his voice. "Sorry about him."
"Don't apologise - he's a sweet kid," Y/N paused before adding: "and you're a real good brother to him, Dave."
A pink hue sprinkled across the apples of Davey's cheeks, but Y/N forced herself to look away from it, gently shaking the kid on her lap.
Les groaned and swatted at her hand.
"Leave me alone," he grumbled. Y/N shared an amused glance with Davey, who crouched down.
"Come on - we've gotta get home, Les."
"I'm comfortable," he complained again, opening his eyes just enough to shoot his brother a glare. Y/N bit her lip to stop herself from laughing.
Davey caught the action though, rolling his eyes at her in exasperation.
"I can't imagine it's all that comfortable for Y/N, though. Come on, get up."
Les opened his eyes again, this time directed up at Y/N in the same puppy-dog expression she knew Jack had been training him in to sell his papers.
"Y/N" he whined. Y/N chuckled and pinched his arm lightly.
"What do you want me to do, kid? Do you want me to carry you home?" She joked. Les looked contemplative though, and then nodded.
"That would work," he agreed.
Y/N burst out laughing, and Davey sighed again, letting his head fall down onto the mattress beside his brother.
"I told mum and dad you were a heathen," he complained. "I said they should've just stuck with me and Sarah."
"This is why I like Y/N," Les huffed, aiming a kick at Davey. "She's nice to me."
"Alright, kid - come on, your parents will be worried," Y/N cut in, laughing quietly. She pushed him off of her lap and stood up. "How does a piggy back ride sound?"
Ten minutes later, the three of them were walking the route back to Davey's family home. Les had fallen back asleep, resting on Y/N's lap, and Davey hadn't stopped spewing apologies for his brother's actions.
"Dave - I mean it, you don't need to apologise," she said with a gentle laugh. "Manhatten's nice to walk through at this time of night, anyway." She shot a teasing look at him from the corner of her eye. "Besides, the company's not all too bad, either."
Davey went bright pink, mouth gaping open slightly as he processed her... rather forward words.
"I mean - I'd never complain at the chance to spend more time with you," he managed to get out, smiling awkwardly at her.
"Such a charmer, Jacobs."
"You started it!"
The two of them lapsed into quiet laughter for a moment. Just as the two of them turned the corner down into Davey's street, he spoke again.
"Well... would I be able to take you out some time? To make up for this?" He gestured at the sleeping kid. "Without my brother, and the other's, I mean. Since we... like spending time together, and all," he added awkwardly.
"You asking me on a date, Jacobs?"
"That.... depends on your answer?" Davey tried weakly and Y/N laughed.
"And if my answer's a yes?" She asked as they came to a stop outside of the Jacobs' front door. Davey stepped forwards to scoop Les into his arms instead.
"Then yeah - definitely a date," Davey confirmed, far more confidently.
Y/N offered a crooked grin and stepped up to press a kiss to his cheek, marvelling in the stunned expression the action left behind.
"Then I'll see you tomorrow, Dave."
(Can confirm, Les was 100% not asleep, just sick of Davey's pining and decided to take matters into his own hands)

Oooooh I love that sm. I love how you write them so much. Here’s another one that I wrote while disassociated so I have no clue how this looks. Was basically just typing words. But a sick fic in honour of me being sick :) - 🤠anon
Jack shivered. Davey noticed.
Jack squeezed his eye shut when the Newsies got too loud. Davey noticed.
Jack was sitting alone in an alleyway with a half full bag of Papes next to him and his head leant back against the wall. And Davey noticed.
“Jack?”
“Dave?“
“are you ok?” “Yeah, Yeah im fine just lotsa walkin Today. Racer needed someone to…” he was cut off by Davey’s hand on his forehead. “…hi?” “Jackie you’ve got a fever” “oh…. Right” “we could take him back to our place? ‘Member when ma got you, me AND Sarah better last winter?” Les said over Davey’s shoulder. “Yes, I remember” “wait but what about the-“ “I’ll take care of it, love”
Jack pouted. “C’mon” Davey patted his arm, pulling him up off the ground.
when they made it back to the Jacobs’ apartment Mrs Jacobs waved excitedly. “Hello Jack! What a lovely surprise. Are we really done already, boys?!” “Mama Jack’s gotten himself sick” “oh you poor dear.” Mrs Jacobs ran her hand over his forehead and cheek. “Better get him to bed shall we?” Davey nodded.
When Jack was settled in Davey’s bed Les and Mrs Jacobs started working on dinner. When Davey decided to get up to shut the window Jack whined, reaching out for him to come back. “Oh hush, it’s probably the cold that got you sick in the first place you know.” Jack huffed.
When Mrs Jacobs opened the bedroom door to call them both for dinner what she was not expecting to see was one boy fast asleep and the other staring out the window drawing shapes on his back.
Davey looked up at her. She grinned smugly at him, crossing her arms. Davey frowned and rolled his eyes. She ruffled his hair and left. But when she opened the door again 20 minutes later Davey had drifted off too. His head resting back against the bed head. Now it was her turn to roll her eyes.
…. I have no idea if this makes any sense. But whatever. Here’s some cookies 🍪🍪 (I wore gloves so you won’t get sick dw)
