Hello! The 3DS/WiiU online services shutdown is in less than 24 hours! For the love of god, if you have anything that requires online services right now, any sort of Pokemon Bank or unfinished Mario Maker level or anything at all, DO YOUR SHIT RIGHT NOW. You think you have time. You don't. Less than 24 hours remain.

Yesterday was the shutdown of online functionality for the WiiU and 3DS. As much as I was utterly DEVESTATED, I learned that all good things must end. And even tho there are mods, it was a true experience to have it first hand.

Tomodachi Life, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and so many other games were my everything back then. And it SUCKS that it won’t be the same, but of course, things end. And new things start.

Im glad i grew up in the time where it was popular, and I’m happy that it was my childhood. Thank you guys for my Ted Talk.

Since today is the last day I'll ever be able to use Wonder Trade on Pokemon ORAS, I decided to shout-out my little treasure, one of the first Pokemon I ever got from WT:

With his help I hatched many Pokemon. With his help I hatched many shinies. With his help I completed my first pokedex. With his help I made my first living dex!

There are still many shinies to hatch, but we might never WT the leftovers again. We might never get a hacked mythical Pokemon again. On the 3DS, at least.

But it's been fun.

Some sad news regarding the Wii U/3Ds

So Nintendo just tweeted that online functionality for the 3Ds and Wii U will be scheduled to go offline on April 2024 which is sad news.

Pokémon bank will not be effected but Gamefreak does advise that you do transfer Pokémon to HOME since the service could go offline in the future.

But don’t panic, just like WiiMifi. There are services working to aid in preservation of these features such as Pretendo which while not fully complete as of this post, but will eventually be a full fledging working replacement.

Reminder: Nintendo Network Shutdown and Discontinuation of Online Services for 3DS and Wii U

It's going to happen on Monday 8th April, 4pm PDT. That's just a few days from now.

What this entails for following games and software (amongst other):

Pokémon: No more online trading and battling on Pokémon XY/ORAS/SUMO/USUM. So get those last trades in!

Splatoon: No more online battles, which is the main part of the game.

Mario kart Wii U: Obviously no more online races.

Nintendo Badge Arcade: Will be completely unusable. I recommend people to go over their badge box and carefully sort what they want to keep, as those badges will stay on your system. Everything else will be lost.

Animal Crossing New Leaf: No more visiting each other's towns. However the QR code designs should be unaffected. You can still create and read those.

Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer: I'm quite sure that you won't be able to upload or see other people's creations.

here are things I'm unsure of:

Friend list: You cannot add friends through the internet (I think, I have no confirmation for this)

Spotpass: Will not work. I unfortunately don't know much about Spotpass and what this means.

EShop:

-There is a small set of free themes that you can download for free right now (at least in the PAL region). I'm not sure if that will be possible later.

-According to the Nintendo website "For the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to download update data and redownload purchased software and downloadable content from Nintendo eShop." Interpret that as you want.

Other: I also called Nintendo's support to ask if it still will be possible to log into the Wii U if you use a NNID password to sign in (because I'm a paranoiac), and the answer was more or less "Yes I'm sure". Not sure how long this will last though. Most likely as long as the point above.

That's all I can remember at the moment. I'll probably add more later.
