A lot of LoK's conflicts were basically the writers canonizing many of the fandom's big "what if" headcanons.
"What if the Water Tribes went to war with each other?"
"What if there was a dark Avatar?"
"What if there was an evil airbender?"
While some of these ideas were executed rather well, especially Zaheer's character, it still feels kind of cheap. Some things should stay in fan spaces.
They did the same thing with Altean Lance from the Voltron fandom.

I just had to pause the episode I was watching and just like. Think about the Crimson Dragon.
Goodwin and Roman and Iliaster try to make it destiny, try to make it birthright, a forgone conclusion that the signers are who they are.
But it’s not.
It’s about love.
Jack and Yusei got their marks when they started to reconcile, when Yusei chose to love in spite of how he’s been hurt and reach out to reforge a connection. Yusei loves the world and Jack loves his family.
Akiza wasn’t fully a signer for the longest time, sure, the mark was there, but long inert in power. It didn’t glow, she wasn’t claimed by the dragon, until she relearned to love herself.
Crow got his when he stood up to his hero, when he sacrificed himself for his city and his kids, when he said “You don’t love the people who look up to you enough. I will.”
Luna doesn’t remember she’s a signer but she’s chosen by the dragon, she’s it’s protector. Luna is a signer because she loves the spirits, because she loves things, creatures, that are alien.
It’s why there can be more than five signers. It’s why Leo can become who he does and it doesn’t matter, he’s not breaking any rules or undermining destiny. That was a lie fabricated by the generation before them. Goodwin tried to quantify the signers; to make them few and easy to control. To make them think there was a hard cap on love. But that isn’t how this works. There’s no limit.
Love is not a finite resource.

Asking Dick if you can take care of him for the night after he spent all day spoiling you for Valentine’s Day. “Can I spoil my good boy tonight?” Dick just melts at your request.
Listen, I started off intentionally with this being risque but....things happened asldjflaksdjf
There was something in the sharp line of his jaw and the solid nature of his shoulders that tipped you off. Dick was a hurricane wrapped in softness, but the layers of sherpa and silk were being worn off to reveal the rage concealed beneath.
Eldest daughter syndrome, you had joked once. Dick had this constant need to care for others, even when it wore him down into a pile of exhausted bones. He shouldered the weight of two cities, a family of reckless vigilantes, and teams of overexcited teen heroes.
When your Atlas stumbled inside after patrol, you saw how slow he moved. His lithe, nimble form stumbled over the ledge of the window but you were there. Your hands enclosed around his shoulders and he collapsed into you.
He had given you a perfect Valentine’s Day. Movies and kisses and your favorite candies. Flowers and muted promises and tender hugs. Now it was your turn. This relationship wasn’t 50-50, it was whoever could give their all at that moment would let the other sink into them. Dick Grayson, protector of Bludhaven, collapsed into you and you clasped your hands over his head, guarding him from the world.
“Let me take care of you,” you breathed against his inky dark hair. His forehead pressed against the soft flesh of your stomach and his grip tightened on the back of your thighs. The tight coils of his shoulders slowly began to unravel under the soothing ministrations of your fingers as you kneaded into the kevlar weave of his uniform.
“Please, Dickie, let me take care of my good boy. Let me spoil you.”
He unfurled entirely, the ropes snapping and canvas tearing across the brilliant sky that consumed him. You breathed life into him in a way that no one else seemed capable of doing. He nodded and gave himself over to you.
Taking his gloved hand, you raised it and kissed the tip of each of his capable fingers. Sliding off his glove, his breath hitched at the contrast of his rough, callous-covered palm in comparison to your buttery soft skin.
No amount of blood on his hands could scare you away.
Because you would help him wash it off.
I'm writing drabbles and headcanons for Valentine's Day! See my pinned post to request :)
