is it just ocean ships youre into or?

...this ask has a slightly threatening aura but like, if you give me a chance to infodump, im going to.

tbh, i wouldnt say im "into ocean ships". i go feral for ocean liners, correct, but like 98% of cruise ships ive come across are fucking awful. plus ro-ro ferries can also go fuck themselves. and im also not really into like battleships apart from a few specific cases, e.g. the hms captain (the last one to be given that name) because boy howdy was that ship terribly designed.

but like most ship aficionados, im am really into great lake ships. i mean, the great lakes themselves are like so fucking cool and honestly if i had to go to america, id like to see them. because of how unique the geography of the great lakes are (essentially inland seas with waves cresting much closer to one another), you get some really interesting ships coming out of it.

theres the more obvious ships that i find interesting like the fitz (edmund fitzgerald), the daniel j morrell and the bannockburn, but im not gonna retread common ground here; theres plenty of videos on youtube about them.

what i wanna talk about is whaleback ships:

they were dreamt up by captain alexander mcdougall and are a much obscure ship design for the lakes. only 44 were ever between 1887 and 1898.

see at that time, the size of a ship was limited mostly by a ships ability to get through lochs and rivers (and obviously materials + hull design theory) rather than power, which led to the common practice of one self-powering vessel towing several barges. and that became a problem when the seas were rough and the winds were howling. so mcdougall wanted to create a design that could easily be towed, which led to the whaleback design.

the hull of a whaleback is continuously curved, and the bow and stern were nearly identical. things like cabins were in the superstructure above the ship. when fully loaded, the hull would lay low in the water, giving it the eponymous whaleback look. it also looks a bit like a cigar.

while they were easy to tow and saw some success as self-powered vessels themselves, like the unfortunately named christopher colombus which was the only passenger whaleback vessel nicknamed "the queen of the lakes", they were flaws in the design. the curved hull made it harder to create watertight hatches, or hatches that would remain watertight as many warped. the working conditions were often poor as within the hull, its essentially a submarine. they were also quite vulnerable to and in collisions; they laid almost flush with the water so they were kinda hard to see.

i just find them very interesting and the design is actually kinda beautiful to me? idk, its just a bit of shipping history that doesnt get mentioned as much. the only remaining whaleback boat is the ss meteor which is now a museum ship.

also, as a certified yam-yam (a seemingly insane thing to call myself), i have to talk about canal boats/narrowboats.

see where im from in the uk has more canals than venice and thats a fact any comedian will turn into a joke if they do a show hear. i know theres at least one other semi-popular posts about narrowboats, but if you havent seen it, you might have seen them in peaky blinders because they were used to transport illegal goods amongst other things.

the canals (or cuts as they were also called) where im from were used a lot during britains industrial revolution in terms of transporting goods. and although canal travel declined due to several factors like better roads for cars, increase in rail travel (seriously, you can get a train to anywhere round here) and issues with wages, its still a pretty significant part of our local culture and history.

like in primary school, we were taught how locks work and i remember learning about all of the different kinds of narrowboats. im not gonna get into all of them because this post is long enough as is, but its safe to say, i have a personal attachment to narrowboats.

in the 60s, there was a restoration of canals and narrowboat tourism became popular. you can also live on a canal boat which one of my friends did for a while growing up.

plus we have a lot of very pretty architecture thanks to canals in the staffordshire ring/black country rings (its called the black country due to how much soot would emanate from factories as well as thick coal seam that came from the mines during the victorian era). the staffordshire ring is like a canal of a lazy river, i guess; it loops all the way round the area and surrounding areas.

i particularly enjoy this little area of the dudley canal part of the ring:

this part of our history also left a bunch of tunnels because canals went through things, and theres a lot of these tunnels. pretty sure theres a lot around the country in general? dont quote me on that; i know my local cut history better than the national canal history.

but anyway, you can walk through a lot of these tunnels such as the netherton tunnel:

which i walked, all the way through and back, as a young child with a headlight on that didnt work too well. me dad took me my brother and by the time we were on the homestretch, we had a single flickering headlight left. fun times.

Raine Days(oc) art+ramble

i am losing my mind, i cannot draw digitally at this time so im left to either draw traditionally in my silly little graphing notebook or write out silly ideas for my character

have my silly notebook page and a silly finger phone doodle🫶

dont mind the cat ear doodles, not canon to them, i just felt silly goofy (they are infact a fruit bat now)

and i apologize in advance for the lengthy ramble below🙏

i believe this hides the rest of my ramble for those who wish to read and those who dont? but anyways onto my ramble

so ive recently discovered, what was missing from raines design was little animal parts! (my old middle school days have returned to haunt me)

taking into account how theyre meant to be the sleepy character in the cast, i took to the internet to find sleepy animals, as i didnt want to do the basic cat ears and tail (i have enough ocs who are part cat, again from my middle school days) and in my searching i remembered bats exist!! so raine is now part fruit bat! (their favorite fruit is grapes incase anyones even curious)

but then i started thinking about what their relationships with all the other characters would be like, so starting off with of course the main man of the cast...

•wally! - i like to think theyre besties or at the very least close friends! perhaps Raine might take on a more leading role in their friendship when wallys learning something or doing something silly, like how everyones decided wally steals apples from howdys store. i like to think raine tries to intervene, or at least pay. (so wally doesnt get in trouble) which leads to their relationship with...

•howdy! - since raine pays (like a normal customer) for their items (and wallys) howdy is thankful and for that the two have a good relationship! not besties but they are friends! not much to say though, but sometimes howdy gives them little deals as a thanks! specifically on the items raine often buys! (theyre very consistent in what they pick, grapes and a blue soda, and no they do not know what the actual flavor is, only blue)

•sally! - again, besties! more so than with wally actually! before their house was built, raine actually lived with sally for a little while! they had the same problem that poppy does at the beginning, where when sally would be rehearsing to herself raine would think she was talking to them. they learned quick though, and would actually help sometimes too! their checkered pj pants are actually a gift from sally, as raine wanted to match something with sally! they sleepover often together (raine always falls asleep first however)

•julie! - theyre friends! julies pretty energetic, which keeps raine awake for the most part when they hang out together, but sometimes raine just really needs to rest or chill out, which julie gladly respects. raine loves looking at and taking care of flowers with her though! theyve joined julie in talking to franks flowers, granted that raine can't actually understand the flowers. (they fully believe juile can though) which leads to...

•frank! - theyre uh fine? not enemies or anything but not quite close friends or anything? franks knows a lot about stuff and has a lot of books, which raine likes, but frank can be a bit serious which kinda just worries raine sometimes that he doesnt like them. they want to read his books though. which in turn leads to...

•eddie! - close friends! eddie teaches raine arts and crafts often, as they find it fun and cute. they keep every craft they do together because they like having little trinkets around their house. eddies also trying to help raine get close to frank actually, reassuring them that frank likes them. (theyre still worried, its a wip)

•poppy! - poppys got a kind of mothering relationship with raine! she teaches them how to bake actually, raine took interest in it after the first time poppy gave them some homebaked goods. now whenever theres an event where everyone brings treats or food, raine helps poppy bake! also raine tends to bruise easily and randomly, which poppy worries a lot about (its gotten to where poppy baby proofed her home out of concern) they still get bruises from god knows what

so overall, theyre friends with most of the neighbors, with the outliers being the slow growing work in progress friendship with frank, and the mother/child relationship they have with poppy rather than friendship.

Responding to the captain howdie callout docuement, attepting to provide some kind of context to the actions of the past, trying to detangle and discuss some of the actual issues in the comic and presented by the document.

This is not nessecarily meant to be a defense. It was kinda blatent to me that the document lacks context and clarity that results from context that make the criticisms functionally useless. Unless their aim is to stir up a hate mob, then its constructed quite well

CW for every topic that is discussed in the original document. In more detail. Aditionally discussions of school shooters are briefly had.

Also this is long and my writing is bad. Sorry.

Nyen's old design -

Okay... while this design read more as creepy pasta character inspired than it does blackface to me, I am not black so i dont really feel like i can comment on it. But i also kinda doubt it was done with the intent of it being black face. I am judging that by how things intended to be blackface are usually depicted. But if it was intended or not doesnt realky matter yea? Because of the harm caused.

But also this is like. previously deleted (i think?) stuff? the design isnt in the comic. So i am not really sure what... what is to be gained by digging it up? What is the harm that was being currently caused by deleted pictures? I guess the argument would be, it help contribute to normalizing blackface back in the day? And because nyen is violent it perpetuates sterotypes of black people being violent and agressive... ahh... i just... how is a sterotype being perpetuated in a harmful way if no one would look at that character desgin and think "yeah thats a black man". Unless they were already wildly rascist. i think to most people on the internet on devientart in 2011 would see that design and think he was like a creepy black cat character. Since like.. black shadow people was and are kinda a thing? And when people wanted to be rascist back then, they were pretty open about it. There are elements to certain drawings that i think make the "shadow person" idea questionable, and at the very least its a desgin that does still too easily play into that history of harm, intent or no. Again this is not an area where im qualified to speak with any kind of authority. I dont think its a good design and im glad it was changed.

The n-word use -

Not good, but this is one of those things that lots of people, even adults, would say regularly, not even that long ago. Especially if it was with a "soft a". Especially the phrase "whats up my n-". It was kinda a meme? Not like an internet meme, but it functioned kinda like one. People would get in lots of very inane arguments about the "soft a" in particular, but it was seen as "acceptable" in some ways to say the n-word with a soft a. It was dumb but that was how things were, and even still are in certain places. These arguments are inane and because they mostly serve to distract from the real issue at hand. That that kind of language coming from anyone who is white will mean something very different and has a lot more history of harm thats called upon. But this was a time when a lot of people were convinced "rasicim is over tho, obama is president". They were wrong and that idea was a reflection of privlage. But it was also how things were. Im not saying all this as an excuse, but to try to explain the differences between the past and now.

The ratmen -

Ohhh boy.... ok... im gonna try... look... have you seen the internet? Theres so much ratcore trash weeb a e s t h e t i c people out there. Its like a whole movement to associate with "cringe weeaboo" shit like japanese school uniforms while calling yourself a rat or a racoon or what ever. To me it feels like a cultural movement to reclaim things people were into as uninhibited youthhss. As a means of reclaiming that youth that was probably difficult because you are probably neurodivergent and/or queer. Simultaneously recognizing that you've become uncringable with age, while also presenting a new dynamic to the "cool and cute" side of things by drawing a worm in a lolita dress or what ever. This feels like the way more obvious read on the ratmen than... refferences to anti-japanese propaganda? Like sure, you could make the argument that its like... a subconcious thing, and stuff is a grand tapestry of influence, which is true. But if you start declaring things irrideemable because of vauge connections of influence (especially when they have easier reads) then your gonna run out of non-irridemable shit reallly fucking fast.

There is a lot to be said about "weeaboo" culture and how it was formed and continues to exist as a reflection of a very specific and limited section of japanese culture. And how that has played into a form of othering and dehumanization in certain cases. By the academic deffinition, non-japanese people being super into japanese anime and anime cultre is -cultural appropriation-. Anime in particular is already several layers of abstraction deep before it even gets the weeaboo treatment. And because of that it isnt always sensible, or respectful. This kinda applies to the whole comic and not just the ratmen, but in that it applies to like... everyone who draws in an anime style who isnt japanese.

Cultural exchange between japan and america is kind of just a thing at this point, and its an exchange that deffinatly isnt always -acurate- but theres kind of a long history of both countries taking and abstracting shit from each other to suit their own needs. Anime itself (as its widely understood) is that, osamu tezuka was influenced by disney to draw large cute expressive faces wayyy back when.

In a lot of ways i think its really cool that there is this crosscultural exchange, especially when its between niche subsubcultures. The kind of subcultures full of outcast weirdos. Proves we all have a lot in common with each other. Like its pretty clear ranfren draws on a lot of doujintype aesthetics, 2chan meme culture, and rpgmaker horror games. Both the comic itself and the presentation, being on neocities with gallerys of art, are reminicent of this. Theres a lot of this on neocities but its cool to see people styling their neocities gallerys and websites after the way japanese artists used to style theirs, pre-social media. For me it taps into some very formative memories of stumbling on some artists website that you couldn't read or properly navigate because it was in japanese and google translate was clunky and bad enough to basically be useless. But the art was beautiful and inspiring, and wasnt polished and professional which felt relatable, felt validating. Sometimes you saw fucked shit cause you didnt know what you were clicking on, but to me it was worth it. Is it bad to see fucked shit at a young age? Eh yeah..? But its kinda inevitable that you will see fucked shit. The world is like that right now, and trying to change it is important but its also important to be able to have methods of dealing with what we have. (Some people's methods of cope involve drawing and looking at pictures of cat boys being eviscerated) Anyways its better to see fucked shit in an environment that you have some control over. Thats kinda.. one of the big Points to art in the first place. And also some people, for various reasons, resonate with fucked shit. That doesnt make them inherently evil, its just like... everyone has their own way of dealing with darkness. Ranfren is a pretty fucked up comic, a dude keeps a human as a pet friend and he cant escape and is suffering and its a major plot point, thats just kinda played for laughs. Its dark and fucked up but in a funny and relatable way. thats why people resonate with it. I ranted a lot more about this in my last post (see also the video "why did we like elfin leid" by hazel on youtube) but just.... the immediate read of the ratmen is not "ah, the author of this is refferencing anti-japanese propaganda and thus is supportive of the belife that asians are not human and inferior." Its just... if you're reading a webcomic on neocities about weird anime cryptid boys, i feel like the associations your more likely to make with the rats is, "ah cool, some rat boys, relatable."

Swastika/manji -

think it was meant to be both a swastika on the right and manji on the left. but the fact that both are there does kinda remind me of how manji would frequently either get censored in america and/or become the source of edgy jokes, "neji is a nazi"* and whatever. Also drawing a swastika on something was the kind of surface level shit that lots of people did, purely because it was an easy way to try to seem like an edgy bassass and get a rise out of people. Its not good that people were like that, its bad that people didnt get the education to understand why doing that was bad. And it being so wide spread did give people who wanted to actually use it because they are nazis a very convenient cover story. But its a weak case to present one, especially if its from 2011, as proof someone currently(?) holds antisemetic beliefs. People who claim to use swastikas "as a joke" while actually holding white supremisct veiws are usually possible to spot by just like... observing what they do and say. While thats an exhausting thing to do because these people are fuckheads of the highest order, its an important thing to be able to do and understand if you want to fight for justice. This is a bit off topic too but relying only on iconography also allows these people to go stealth and do the whole "im not a nazi i dont have a big swastika tatoo" while they go on fox news and talk about how great eugenics is.

*since the point of all this is to provide context i will try to explain. The character Neji Hyuga, from Naruto has a manji on his forehead. Usually covered by his very cool ninja headband. But an episode where he takes it off was censored in the english release because a lot of people in the world have the immediate reaction of "oh fuck a swastika, like the nazis". However it was kind of an edgy "fun fact" to point this out and make jokes, both about the censorship and the fact that Neji has a "swastika" on his forehead. This kind of thing did then lead to more cultural awarness of manji and the origins of the swastika.

Incest and pedostuff -

I was gonna separate these two, but what i have to say kinda applies to them both. But in the wider world of fandom and reality i think they are separate issues, and the conflation of them i tend to see drives me a little nutty, i guess i get that its because of real world personal associations people tend to have, but when it comes to incest ships that become "popular", they seem to fill a very different "need" than young/old ships and shit... ahgggh it doesnt actually have anything to do with randal because he's stated to be under age so it this case its like yeah i guess they are under the same category. I just wish people would think more about why these things happen the way they do. I cant ask that of everyone, especially if its an uncomfortable topic and you dont like thinking about uncomfortable things. But considering why things happen and if there are reasons beyond "people are nasty" is worth doing if you can.

Ahh, i gotta say, taken at face value, the images that captain howdie drew... ah, when i saw the warnings and stuff, i was expecting worse? I am Not saying these are good things to have drawn, but. Almost equally weird shit happens in the actual comic. Randal and Luther have a really fucking weird relationship in canon because both of them are weird. They have weird power plays and do body horror and ??? And Luther is kinda controlling and domineering. But its part of their characterization that they are like this. In the comic there just isnt a framing of someone going "plz draw me some incest art of randal and luther kthnx"

this particular reaction of mine, is probably an instance of me being too online and too desensitized to artists and people im fond of having turned out to have been actual irl pedophiles or abusers so. I dont know. I dont like it. I understand if it turns people away from the comic because that kind of thing hits very personally with some people.

But again, i do feel the need to explain a bit about how the internet used to broadly treat underage characters and shipping.

For one thing people used to just... draw and write porn of characters who were minors, sometimes because they were also minors, sometimes not... and i dont think people were always doing it because they wanted to do bad things to real minors or what ever. The general mentality was more, "the character exists, i have a ship that pleases me. I will engage in what i think is the natural conclusion of that ship." Part of that i think also comes from there just being... less characters? Like obviously time is a thing and we are always adding and never subtracting "available" characters and ships. But if you were into anime/anime-esq stuff, there was just less of it. And a lot of the stuff that was localized and thus widly availible, and thus widly popular, and thus had a big fandom to engage in, was intended to younger folks, and thus had younger characters. So it was just kinda seen as, fine. I think people usually just thought of the characters as ageless entities. I do think its odd that so many people (still to this day too) have a compulsion to ship and write romance and junk, even at the expensse of socital norms. Im like ace/aro spectrum so yeah, i think its weird and dont fully "get it" for people to be that fixated on romance and resulting physical intimacy. But I saw the harry potter fandom back in the day, to say nothing of pre-castiel supernatural, and onecest. People were not really widely considering if any of it could have an effect on people or be used by actual pedophiles to harm real children. Im not saying it didnt happen, but the general idea of what a predetor would do to get at kids did not involve anything fandom related. I also do think the "lets be shocking" mentality comes into it for some people. People get told what they can and cant like by parents, teachers, religeon with little justification beyond "I/God said so". So it makes these kinds of things which have a taboo element to them feel "cool".

I guess part of the idea was also "if you are mature enough to be on these parts of the internet, you are mature enough to deal with some weird shit." In some ways i still think there is a shard of truth in this mindset. Just on a personal level its helpful to know your own limitations and recognize the type of stuff is likely to upset you. Like, even if you love, idk, lucky star or magica madoka or some shit, but are not comfortable seeing ecchi art of the girls, probably just avoid certain fandom spaces all together. Im not saying its "virtuous" to be able to handel seeing some shit or that its an inherent good that people have to do this. Im stating it as very obnoxious unsolicited advice. And all that said i think the need for spaces that are safe and free from shit online are very important. (As are semi-private spaces where you can like... collectivly vent, and spaces where you can be kinda fucked up.) And in modern times i take a lot of issue with "adult" fans with certain interests "taking over" media aimed at kids (mlp and the bronies is sort of an example of this, in certain ways, its complicated.)

I fucking hate that we've all been forced onto like 3 platforms for fandom and art shit. Especially twitter, twitter sucks dick. Especially if you're a kid. i dont like being like this, but honestly people under the age of 18 should not be on twitter. Not even because theres porn and gore and no tagging/filtering system. Twitter is just shit. Like the app itself is designed to fuck with your head in a very very damaging way and you cant really do anything to make it not do that. Damn, everybody should make a neocities, we can bring back webrings. its really fun and not difficult to maintain at. all. I Promise.

Also i said this in the last post but... pedobear was a popular(?) meme. It was this bear character that people would photoshop into pictures of cute child characters from anime and shit. The "joke" was more a style of subversive shock humor. Lots of people on 4chan were weirdos but a lot more were edgy teens just kinda looking to get a rise out of people because that was the "point" of the internet for a lot of people. "For the lulz" was the general rallying call. Was it good that one of the big meme characters of the day was a bear that wanted to molest anime children? No. And other popular meme characters who were also problematic? No, it was a symptom of things beyond most peoples control. Was it normalized? Yeah. Was it emblematic of multiple wider aspects of internet culture at the time? Yeah. Did the normalization also lead to an arms race of edge that eventually helped gamergate and the subsequent altright movement gain traction? Sort of. I think its silly to blame memes and media in general, or even internet culture as the sole cause for any of that. It all played a roll but the root causes runs a lot deeper. And i think it short sighted to lable any one thing as a source of evil while condemming everyone who associates with it. Shortsighted in the sense that i think to combat these things you have to try to understand the systems and contexts that lead to these evils in the first place. And when and how much these things are doing harm. And in what situations that harm is balenced.

Nevada-tan sweater -

i feel like the pedobear rant there kinda covers a lot of this but. Im here to try to give context so that is what i will do. I guess i just want to say again how common it was to have violent serial killer ocs. I had an oc who was a fake girl scout who offered people cookies and then killed them. Hilarious. Having an edgy refference to a real world tragedy is kinda par for the course in certain horror communities even to this day. Even real horror movies will do this. Its really not great that these things drag real world people into this. This is an instance of something that i greatly dislike because it does directly involve real world people. But its worth considering why people do this. Why there are people who develop parasocial relationships with killers and school shooters. Why these people get memed into become symbols and characters more than real people who commited evil acts. I mean for one thing people do this to just like, regular people, so it apparently just something humans like to do. But i want to post this comment from the reignbot video about nevada-tan which i think explains some important context of why this girl in particular was one that people might have latched on to (that vid is also good if you want the full real world context of everything)

People find this, relatable. Its messed up. but so many people are left behind by systems that are theoretically supposed to help people. People find some kind of comfort(?) in the horror. Another really good video related to this topic is the one reignbot did about people who idolize school shooters, she interveiws someone who used to be "on the inside" and that person has a lot of very valuable insight into this kind of mindset.

And i think the nevada sweater on Nyen is more of a refferance to this collective internet horror referance, especially with the anime, doujin circles, connotation. One that the type of person reading ranfren is likely to get and understand in some way. And i guess nyen is maybe just that kind of guy. Again it is not something i think is good, even as cope. But given everything else in the comic the refferance makes sense. And im internet poisoned so i knew what it was refferanceing as soon as i saw it so ive lived with it this long. Im still suprised people didnt know about this honestly. I am old.

Residential school/logs -

I mean yeah, this is insensitive. but... thats is kinda how... peoples minds work... you think about something, then maybe something happens, and you go back to thinking about the other thing. Like yeah, you have control over what you post, especially when you have a following its good to keep in mind how things will be percived just in general. But also like... sometimes i go from thinking gay thoughts to thinking about the texas abortion bill to thinking gay thoughts to thinking about the nature of evil in the hearts of humans to thinking gay thoughts. Its just kinda how our minds work, especially, trying to process tragic things can be really tough. And in general i am not fond of the trend that demands perfect sensitivity and seriousness about all topics lest you be cast as like... not caring at all and there for evil. Especially if the person in question is like an artist or some rando, someone who isnt aiming to be an "activist". (Im using that term very loosely,)

I mean in general there is so so much bad stuff, an insurmountable mountain of bad stuff and its all connected in the worst rat-nest of suffering. You gotta let yourself take a break, or you will burnout so fucking fast and not be able to tackle problems in an effective way when the oportunity arises.

Conclusion -

All and all, i think this document does a bad job presenting the issues that are present in and around randal's friends. Because it either doesnt know or doesnt care to explain the actual underlying issues with any of them because it seems too preoccupied with making captain howdie look as bad as possible. The reasons that yes, even though this shit was very normalized its still worth having a think over why it was normalized, what it meant and what it all means. And understanding that it being normalized meant very many people engaged with it and are still feeling fallout from that and records of that time are easily dug up. The document is either missing or choosing to ignore important context that readers are apparently unlikely to understand. And takes so many things in bad faith that it will be useless in encouraging change or a genuine apology or what ever the fuck people want. BaCk In My DaY we used to use callouts to go on 40 page tangents about the implications of shipping Sam and Dean or naming your oc "himeko" or what ever the fuck. And a lot of those were also full of misplaced frustration. But like... i feel like had to try to translate what the actual concerns were behind half the problems in this document. Someone who doesnt have their brain full of years of social justice arguments and talking points is gonna look at that doc and mostly go What are you people fucking talking about??? People seem to be mad that this was "brushed under the rug" but what exactly is achived by dragging it back out? If that stuff hadnt been deleted people would 100% be clamoring for them to delete it because leaving it up would be perpetuating the forms of harm that it does contain. People also dont tend to think to give premptive apologies for those sorts of things either, because it was normalized at the time and has been hidden from most people's veiw. And bringing it up is probably just gonna implicate you. And again, if you lack a certain kind of understanding it will be very difficult to word any kind of an apology properly. And i kinda doubt that document will get anyone to apologize because it reads in such bad faith, lacks context, and doesnt properly fucking explain what the real issues and impact are.

Like its ok, you are well within your rights to not like ranfren for what ever reason. I can understand not liking ranfren. I can understand not wanting to be into ranfren anymore, and its your choice. As ive alluded to, ranfren appeals to a very specific sort of person, and is presented in a way that reflects that. You get to choose what you want to keep reading. This is just an example to illustrate what i mean. The influence of anything the avarage webcomic artist does is vastly outclassed by shit even from a hundred years ago. (Sorry webcomic artists) let alone more insideous social factors that can be much harder to pick apart and confront. I guess thats the thing... the world is frustrating and sorrowful and you want to feel like you can do something and a rando artist is an easier target than all of society. Oh The Humanity! AU Masterpost

Hi! Making a masterpost for this AHiT AU so y’all have one place to just find all the important bits that I and other folks in the fandom have done for this AU! Everything will be under the read more

AU Premise: Snatcher steals a time piece from Hat Kid and Bow Kid to mess with them. He tries to use it during one of the Death Wish fights, but turns out the particular time piece he stole was faulty/ something was up with it/ he broke it in a weird way that really messed it up. Because of this, when he broke the piece, instead of rewinding time back a few minutes, it sent his form back about 300 years, returning him to human form, but with all his present memories. Now, he’s stuck as a human as and has to wait for the Time Traveling Alien Kids to fix the time piece and return him to normal, while also being forced to confront his past.

You can find most of this in the tag #oth!au. I will also be updating this as new stuff gets added or if I find that I’ve missed something. Let me know if there’s something I missed that you’d like me to add, cuz boy howdy i didnt realize how much is stuffed into this AU, and I dont remember what I’ve already said and what I’m saving for future stuff:

Moonjumper is taking care of Subcon. They do things way differently than snatcher but they’re trying their best.

Cooking Cat comes by to cook and help out. She’s very motherly to everyone. She’s taken Mu on as an apprentice, so she’s usually there with her whenever she drops by.

The birds are wrapping up a collab movie. The main cast are invited to the premier party, as Hat and Bow acted in the film. Snatcher gets to wear a nice suit and he has some interaction with the conductor and grooves. Link Link

at multiple points, MJ checks in with snatcher for status reports on how subcon is doing. This is usually where their bonding moments happen and they become less and less awkward with each interaction.

At some point around mid to late story, they find out that Subcon is starting to freeze over again. Snatcher was the only one who could melt the ice so this now gives them a time limit.

Hat kid’s a good leader, but she can often be reckless and stubborn. Significantly more chaotic of the two space gremlins. She’s a lot like snatcher in a lot of ways, and because of that they are constantly butting heads but they get along better as Snatcher both gets used to being human and grows fonder of the two girls. She’s a bit closer to Snatcher, having been the most adamant about being his friend (initially out of spite but yknow) and they have a lot in common.

People frequently mistake snatcher for being Hat Kid and Bow Kid’s visiting father. They usually comment on how much he looks like he could be HK’s biological dad. Both are in denial of this throughout the main timeline of this au. It’s a running gag. Link

snatcher is sometimes completely oblivious when he enters Dad Mode sometimes

Bow, on the other hand is generally a bit more shy and careful than hat kid is. She tends to take the passenger seat, taking on a more supportive role. She’s also way more polite. In this sense, she has more in common with moonjumper, and gets along with them quite well and she frequently goes to visit him the most often, on her own.

Her and snatcher’s relationship kind of parallels snatcher’s relationship with MJ. Snatcher, having once been a big jerk to these kids, is now trying to teach bow to take more of a leading role and be more confident.

as this au takes place not long after the Clearing Incident comic, Snatcher and MJ’s relationship is a bit awkward in the beginning. Over the course of the AU their relationship would build up to be more brotherly.

the subconites like moonjumper but they miss their boss. MJ spoils them tho, which they appreciate and occasionally take advantage of Link Link

moonjumper learns to stand up for himself, snatcher learns to be more vulnerable

moonjumper is the badgeseller. Only hat, bow, and snatcher know this.

snatcher very much enjoys feeling warm, its one of few saving graces he clings too in the stressful early part of the story.

snatcher doesnt like looking at himself in this AU. He’s very self-conscious about his “pathetic human body.” He doesn’t like being pitied and he doesnt like being seen as weak.

snatcher frequently has nightmares about his past.

after recieving the mailman hat, people start refering to him as The Mailman. Link

his voice frequently cracks a lot, especially in the beginning, since he keeps trying to use his Loud Ghost Voice, which can do a number on human vocal chords. Link

Familiar pt.4

The next day you woke up with a pounding headache as you felt MJ passed out next to you. You smiled, glad to have such a good friend. You yawned and got up, rubbing your eyes. MJ was a heavy sleeper so when you tripped but caught yourself on the door, she just shuffled and went peacefully back to sleep. You sighed and walked to the kitchen, a hair a mess, makeup smudged and clothes wrinkly. When you entered the kitchen Tony and Steve were sitting at the island, talking about some plans. They both looked up to see you and Steve's face saddened as Tony's looked confused since he didnt know what happened last night. "Hey kiddo, you look lovely this morning- actually, make that evening" Tony said before you gave him a cold glare while opening the fridge to grab two muffins, one for MJ. Steve elbowed him and told him to shut his mouth for once. Tony pouted, even more confused now. "Its fine dad" you said, then looking at Tony "Peter cheated on me and so we broke up" you said, your voice getting more quiet while you spoke. Tony looked surprised. Peter? Cheating? ON YOU??? But Peter loved you and from what he last saw, he still had that some lovestruck look on his face. Tony nodded, apologizing and then heading to his office to call for him. Your dad got up and hugged you, saying you could miss school for today. You nodded and thanked him, pecking his cheek before walking back to your room where MJ was looking through her phone, waiting for you. You walked in and MJ looked up, asking how you were as you start down next to her and handed her a muffin. "Could be better" you responded, taking off the muffin wrap and then taking a bite. She snickered and then told you to clean up since she was gonna take you out and get your mind off Peter. You nodded and MJ just went back on her phone as you cleaned yourself up, wiping the make-up off and taking a shower. Once you came out MJ had stolen your hoodie and sweatpants and was waiting for you. When you came back she then walked with you to the kitchen, telling Steve her and you were gonna hang for a bit and he made an exception. As you walked out, the fresh air made your headache hurt less. "Let's go to that cafe you like, whatever the name of it is. Then we can go to the mall and walk around, maybe go to the arcade". You looked at her surprised since she never liked going to the mall, especially with you since you loved looking at clothes. You smiled and nodded. "Ok!". She smiled and you guys walked down to the cafe. When you walked in, you saw the person working at the register. Liz. God dammit. You were supposed to have fun today, NOT think about what happened. But of course, being satan she is, she had to come and ruin it right when things were start to lighten up. MJ noticed your scrunched face and told you to find a table. You nodded and went to one of the tables next to the windows since you liked watching the world bustle around.(not in a creepy way of course). As MJ went up to the counter, another person entered. You looked up to see Flash. GIVE ME A BREAK.

"Hey cupcake, you're lookin mighty fine today, what're you doing here all alone?" He said, sitting in the sit across from you. Your eyebrow twitched as you just continued to look out the window. "Go away Flash, you know what happened yesterday, I'm not in the mood" you said in a more stern tone than usual. Flash just smirked and leaned closer to you. "Yea, Penis Parker pulled a real dick move. I'm sure you're not feeling the best which is why I wanna get your mind off him" he said, going to slide his hand onto yours. Before he could MJ slammed her hand down on the table and glared at Flash. "Screw off dickhead, (y/n) nor me want to deal with your shit right now". He just rolled his eyes and looked at her with annoyance. "You don't know how she feels, you cant tell her what she does and doesnt want". Flash being a dick was something you were used to. But today? Today you were NOT having it. You got up, walked around the table and then socked Flash in the face. He groaned, holding his eye and MJ just stood there, shocked. You huffed and crossed your arms. "Go home before I decide to have your eyes match jackass". With that, flash left. Once he left you shook your hand, your knuckles throbbing. "Ow...". MJ smiled and patted your back. "Look at you, feel any better?" She said with amusement. You shrugged. "A little, though now my knuckles hurt....". MJ just laughed and handed you your coffee, then walking out with you. "Well at least you got some of that frustration out. Maybe tomorrow we can go to that place where they give a bunch of shit to break. Or we can just go somewhere abandoned, either way, we should break shit". You snickered and rolled your eyes, taking a sip of your coffee. "Yea, maybe, just imagine it all being Peter's stupid face and kick the shit out of it"

"M-Mr. Stark? You want to s-see me?". Tony just nodded as he clicked away on his computer. Peter walked in, closing the door behind him before sitting down and twiddling with his fingers. Tony shut his computer off and folded his hands together, looking at Peter as Peter just looked down at his hands. "Kid, you know why your here. Why'd you do it? I know you still love (y/n)". Peter flinched at your name a little and shook his head, rubbing his neck. "M-Mr.Stark, I really didnt want to, but I h-had to". Tony just raised an eyebrow. "Is someone blackmailing you? Was someone gonna die if you hadn't?". "N-No.....". Tony sighed. "Then you shouldnt have done it, you guys were doing so well. Why?". Peter teared up. "Because im not good enough....." he mumbled, wiping away a tear. "What?" "IM NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR HER" Peter yelled as his hands clenched. "She's amazing and wonderful and-and just, a goddess......she deserves better...." Tony pinched the bridge of his nose "that doesn't explain why you cheated on her". Peter flinches again, remembering. "I-I knew if I did, she wouldn't reconsider being with me if I just broke up with her. She wont question and she can move on to someone better....". "Kid, for being a superhero and one of the smartest kids in your class, your really fucking stupid". Peter looked up at Tony surprised. "Dont look at me like that, you know that was stupid. You were feeling insecure, I get it, but you should have talked with her about how you felt instead of being selfish and hurting her like this". Peter sat there. Was what he did that stupid? Yea, it was. Peter just shrugged "Even so Mr.Stark, how could I fix it? She hates me now, she wouldn't even glance at me so having a one on one talk would be impossible". Ton sighed and stood up. "Give her time, she needs to heal. You really hurt her. Once she's doing better, figure out a way, THATS NOT STUPID, to talk with her, even if you dont get back together, you need to have that conversation so it's not dangling over your head". Peter just nodded. "Also your suit privileges are taken away for a few weeks". Peter's eyes widened and he pouted. "W-what!? Why!?". "For being stupid".

usually, zoe doesnt like to celebrate her own birthday w a big. THING u know. a little acknowledgement goes a long way with her. so she's absolutely fine with jason showing up to have dinner with her or something, even if it's the fattest, greasiest burger in town and they're both dressed in the clothes they've been working in all day. i do think jason would like to give her a little more fanfare and THAT'S where KEME would come in, bc if u can blame the hatching of the giant surprise party on keme then you MIGHT not get punched. but i mostly think that like their lil one-on-one celebration would be something pretty muted.

a water planet that was. ALL water. like literally just. the entire planet was water. everyone lived underwater in lil domes. beautiful place, zoe thought it was GORGEOUS of course. but also, when you're intoxicated half the time, missing home, and haunted by ghosts of your past around every corner as you're trying to WORK it isnt a fun place to be. idk if i've shared this piece of info before but. when zoe was a kid, she almost drowned once, and it was a mortifying thing bc bellamy and kanti had pulled her out of their little pond and zoe had just seemed. fine with dying right then and there in that little pond. but its not the water - she's not afraid of water, she's actually v soothed by it, but during the space cowboy arc she's in an even darker place mentally and then to add on top of it this whole planet being underwater where she can't. GET OUT. like there's not FLYING AWAY if anything bad happens. there's packing everyone up into the ship AND THEN getting out and zoe doesnt. SHE DOESNT LIKE THAT. it's AWFUL. it's very claustrophobic, very reminiscent of a watery grave and she just wants to GET OUT of there ASAP.

Okay so I’m doing all these for both Emilia and Camila so, here we go. Under cut because boy howdy its long

2.) What is the color (and qualities) of your OC’s eyes/hair/skin?

For Emi: Her eyes are brown. Neither very dark or very light, they’re just a midtone brown. When she was young, her hair was a very dark auburn, although now its lightening as she greys out. It has a thick texture and is naturally wavy/curly and she prefers it long and pulled back into a half ponytail. Emilia wasn’t thrilled when she was shaved bald in OWB, but she wears a fade now and her greying is more obvious. Her skin is brown, lightly freckled, and she has a few moles. Although I don’t draw her with them (Due to my indecisiveness on what and where they should be) she has tattoos covering a large portion of her body, and her skin is tough and dry from her travels.

For Camila: Her eyes are still a dark brown, although ghoulification is causing them to have a cataract/hazed look to them. She use to have very thick black hair that she would wear in short styles and while it had natural waves, it wasn’t as much as her sister’s. When her hair started falling out she had Emi chop it and would brush it over much so the rest would fall out. Camila preferred no hair to the patchiness, but she continues to wear her hair bands to fashion herself up. While travelling, she will wear headscarves to keep the sun off her. Her skin was never particularly tough and because of such she would often bruise or get cut easily. This quality carried over to her ghoulish self, although her skin is much more fragile now.

12.) What is your OC’s relationship with his/her father?

While Emilia has plenty of strong opinions on being raised fine without a father, not having needed a father, or anything relating to a need for ‘two parents’, she actually has no real feelings for her father as a person. He wasn’t around for her and he left her mother. These are the only things she knows or cares to know about him and she doesn’t blame him for either. She grew up fine with what she had, her mother, although heartbroken at the time, never truly suffered because he left. Life just happened, as it always does, and even if selfish people have their reasons for doing things. However, because she never knew him or cared to know of him, she only keeps her mother’s surname. Although her mother had planned on having a conversation about Emilia’s father once she got older, she had died when Emi was 9 and never had the chance. Xiomara, Emi’s abuela, refused to acknowledge the man and that was fine by Emilia.

Camila had known her father and for a while he was able to stay with her. There’s a lot vague here as I haven’t committed to specifics, however I know he’s forced out of the picture in some fashion. He was a good father to Camila and while he tried extending the kinship to Emilia, she wasn’t interested and he wasn’t going to force it. I would like to say that Camila was anywhere between 5-12 years old when her father left the picture, however much of this is uncertain. Cam has many fond and happy memories of him, however the uncertainty with him leaves me with ways to juggle how her adults self feels about him. She does miss him, and in certain endings she wonders if he’s still alive, but in all she keeps his name, and her full name (as of now) is Camila Espinosa Vazquez.

22.) Who is/are your OC’s closest friend(s)?

Raul is probably as close as a person can get to Emilia. They share everything with each other and both appreciate having the other. Although she really does appreciate that he’s willing to take care of Camila once she dies, part of Emilia wishes he could come adventuring with her. Much of her healing comes from being able to open up to someone else, and they both find this in a mutual aspect. The trio can often be seen together when Emilia is home, and in later life are inseparable.

Cass is another relationship Emi appreciates. Both sort of offer and fulfill roles the other wasn’t aware they wanted. For Cass, she gets an assholish, morally bankrupt questionable not quite parent figure, and for Emilia she gets a never-admits-to-it not-daughter figure that enjoys causing mischief but nags her about staying on the good side of karma.

Arcade and Emilia have a very strange relationship. I should actually get around to fleshing it out more, but between him and Camila they give Em a reason to stay and fight for Vegas. Its another odd relationship that Emi wasn’t expecting to find in the Mojave, but she’s grateful for him nonetheless.

Joshua Graham is also a very strange case for Emi. She doesn’t trust him in the least and she absolutely is determined to be the one to kill him, yet there’s a specific fondness for him. He’s one of the few she’s met that she sees as an equal in certain, dark ways which both intrigues her and makes her cautious. Both are religious and both highly value the community that comes with that, and while she never wants to consider him as close, by the end of their story she considers him a good friend. They end up teaching each other a lot, and regardless of how things end they do appreciate each other.

For Camila, most of the companions made easy friends with her. This was very welcomed after years of not being allowed anything permanent. Arcade sees her as bit of a ditz but teaches her what he can about ghoulification care, medical, and technical sciences. His grumpiness reminds her a bit of Emi, but she knows she can play him better than her sister and she often gets her way. He introduced her to Julia Farkas, and between the two Cam learns plenty.

Her and Veronica got along like peas in a pod and absolutely had girl’s nights and fawned over fashion. Although Emilia prioritizes Camila when she brings back clothes or accessories, Cam is more than willing to share and the two often doll up together. Those two made fast friends with Sarah from the Vault hotel and the three are absolute gossips. This comprises much of Cam’s social life, outside of the friends she has at The Aces.

Although they were easy friends at first, Raul became a big part of Camila’s life later game. At first, neither Cam, Raul, or Emi were aware of how he’d fit into their lives, but once Camila realized he was going to be Emi’s ‘replacement’ things got a bit rough. She wasn’t mad at him but she wasn’t thrilled about his willing participation, especially since Emilia and he agreed to things before even consulting Cam. Plenty of talking was done, and eventually understandings were reached, and the three were ride or die since. While they never considered each other as replacement siblings, they readily see each other as family.

32.) What subjects did your OC excel at?

Emilia is very athletic. Her agility is a solid 10, and she uses it to her advantage. She can lockpick just about anything and break out of (or into) most facilities. She has a quick mind, and can improvise on the spot. Basically, if you need something stolen, killed, or broken into she’s your gal. She also plays guitar very well and has a good knowledge of music theory. This often leads her to getting excited when hearing live sets, and once she riled she can’t stay still. Emi can also cook fairly well too. She generally doesnt get too experimental with it, but she can work up a must-go easily.

Camila on the other hand didn’t have very many skills growing up. She was very sickly as a child, which kept her bed ridden most of the time. Emi did teach her guitar, although she isn’t as good with music theory. She can sing very well, and Emilia and her father helped shape that. Later in life Arcade teaches her how to work computers and she gets quite good at it. She has the patience for just about anything, which really helps later on when she gets jobs in Vegas.

42.) What makes your OC happy?

Emi is very easy to please. She just wants an exciting mark and a whole lot of havoc to make in the process. In reality she’s just happy to have her freedom with little obligation outside Camila. As long as she doesn’t have a routine to wake up to, she’s alright.

Camila on the other hand has a lot to desire, although she’s content where she’s at. She’s provided for, but even then she wishes she had someone to talk to while Emilia was away. That said, when Emi came home she would sometimes bring an accessory or some fashionable item for Camila. This would always make her smile, and she treasured each. Come end game, shes actually quite happy having a few jobs and a social life. People knowing her by face and name is enough to make her light up, and she’s very pleased with being able to assert her own future.

52.) What are some of your OC’s motivations?

Emi’s very motivated by money, but she’s also motivated by chaos. As a hitman, she likes causing trouble and in dramatic ways. If there’s someone or something she can screw over in a fabulous way, she will do it. But what motivates her most is family. Camila and Rosa kept her sane and kept her loved, she’d quite literally do anything for them, and she is always one to keep promises.

Cam needs very little to get her motivated. She’s use to being holed up or too ill to enjoy the day, so if she wakes up in a good mood and right mind she’s ready to tackle anything. Chores? Turn on the radio and open the windows, house work is still something. A walk around town? She may not be able to get to know people, but she still enjoys the small interactions, besides she has the energy for a walk right now. Emilia is likely coming back tonight? Whats a few more hours of staying up.

62.) How emotionally/mentally vulnerable is your OC with other people?

Emilia’s vulnerability is nonexistent. She absolutely refuses to open up, to even her sister in some cases, and it can cause a frustrating guessing game on how to make Emi feel better. She does let down her walls, just a bit, later on in her life. Raul and Camila see the most of this, but Graham has the privilege of seeing her be vulnerable for a moment. Its not something she likes doing, but its not always within her control.

Camila on the other hand longs to have someone to talk to about feelings. Most of her life she remained cooped up in hotels, unable to make real friends due to her constant moving. Despite Emi trying (I use the word loosely) to be emotionally available for her sister, Rosa was really the only person Cam had to be truly open to, and once she was lost Cam really had nothing. Give her a night out on the Strip and a hard enough day and she might blather your ear off about feelings, even if you’re complete strangers.

72.) What is your OC’s favorite kind music (and song if there is one)?

Emilia loves just about anything upbeat. Give it percussion or brass and she’s unable to sit still. A proper rock movement would have done her in and she would have loved every moment of it. She also like swing and folk. Give her a guitar and she will join in the round, as she is especially fond of meeting other musicians on the road.

Camila also likes upbeat music, although she prefers more jazzy genres. Both generally agree on music, but Cam prefers more pop and things she can sing to.

In general like her archetype of character, a seemingly fragile quirky character that can go insane/berserk, an example is A.B.A. from guilty gear, i love it so much that my first ever original character that i made is this archetype

I really like her backstory, not like in the sense that i relate, but like in the sense that is very interesting, having a shitty shitty parent that did experiments on her, she ends up being a guinea pig for hexes of her mother, and becomes very shy, very jumpy and she talks very softly and with kind of a broken voice, her mother ends up giving her a talisman that is supposed to be hexed so that noire can draw strenght from it so it will protect her, talisman is just a placebo thats just there for noire to vent up her frustrations, she starts yelling, laughing and becomes way more aggressive, it is not a happy story, when you see noire for the first time she has already gone through so much, that the very fact that she is there to fight still is kind of remarkable, she is so determined that a lot of the supports she has with other ppl usually are impressed by her will power alone, she comes to the army broken, sad and scared, like most of the kid generation to be fair, their world pretty much was destroyed, but she along with the others is so set in making things right that her fears and worries are not gonna stop her, in short terms, she is like actually the strongest and most incredible of the kids that went back in time

I touched on her personallity a bit but she is really cool, even tho she is kinda quiet and doesnt usually involves herself with others, she cares about every single person she interacts with and is ready to help and protect anybody at any time, the best example is the support with pannes kid, dude is as much as a scaredy cat as her and their support starts by her doing him a favor, no questions ask and no hesitation, followed by him being inspired by her conviction of making things right and overcoming her fears, so much so that he stops hiding all together, and that support also shows that she is smart as to when to snap and become all violent and shit and when to keep calm and make ppl listen to her, she has weaponized both her cuteness and her aggresive nature

She is a way bigger human than me, if my mother experimented on me to the point of me becoming her guinea pig, i wouldve been like, lol fuck you never talk to me again, as strong as blood bonds are, i am not one to take shit and expect to make peace later, she on the other hand wants to make amends, and even tho the tharja she makes ameds with is not her mother, she wants to avoid her to be repeated by the mistakes of her parents i think that is so cool too, she is incredible

I just love all the little details of her supports about just being so inspiring to the ppl she talks to and her determination being contageous while never hiding her fears, worries and hesitation, she pushes forward despite her being scared, broken and sad, while other ppl have to be pushed to the point where they will actually say how they feel, i like how honest and direct she is, and i also really love how if she gets frustrated with someone being blatantly lying or being dense as fuck she will just snap and yell the truth out of them or really clearly explain her point so then she can help them get better or help them realize something abuot them, her berserk form is kind of a last resourse in this regard but its super funny and endearing when she just looses patience and tell them in ther faces how it is

But enough about her backstory lets go to gameplay!

she has *the* coolest passive ability, vengance, when you get hit you do your damage, plus the damage you where dealt at i think the luck stat x 2? one of the stats x 2, not only you can level up that stat really easily, she levels it up a lot naturally and you end up getting vengance like 80% of the attacks if not all of them, she is a fucking killing machine its amazing, she is a bit of a glass cannon tho so be careful when using her, but i ended up using her so much that she started to just take like hits that where just around 20% of her health and subsequently dealing one hit kills, and since she is an archer, she can learn the one hit kill skill that is i believe the same stat as the vengance one, so since she already levels it up so fast naturaly she either does a one shot critical, she does a straight up critical hit that will murder fools straight up OR she will deal damage BACK that destroys ppl, SHE. IS. INCREDIBLE

She is very resistance heavy and in the tail end missions of awakening you are usually getting bombarded by wizards not only is that helpful, they usually attack her bcus she has the least ammount of health so you can just go destroying magical fools left and right, and this is like, just vanilla noire, the first time i played awakening, gregor (a mercenary) was the parent she inherited a skill from, i made her a mercenary after getting said vengance and one hit kill chance, she gained sol, so when she did some insane damage she cured herself up to full health, proceeding to just freaking MURDER, i went with pretty much just her alone in one of the hollow boxes thingies and she just destroyed the whole map by herself taking like 3 damage total, when gaius was her father in my 2nd or 3rd playthru, she had the vengance stat to 50% so her vengance triggered EVERY SINGLE TIME plus the one hit kill skill she was the deadliest unit i had but she kept her glass cannon-ess trait so i had a healer next to her all the time, that being said tho she was my go to, oh shit this unit is super tanky, les go girl 1 shot it, and she did 100% of the time, and the 3RD TIME (or 2nd, i dunno) Libra was her dad, so i ended up making her a sorcerer, and needless to say, i think she ended up getting less vengance triggers but her magic power alone was dropping any fool that decided to wear metal armor that day and not go prepared for the biggest magic damage in human history

I really cant stress this enough

SHE.IS. A. GOD. DAMN. MONSTER. I. LOVE. HER. SO. MUCH.

Also needless to say, in one of my 3 playthrus, i just went straight up to grimma with her, she got hit to 1 hp left, did the vengance and got grimma herself to freaking 5 hp left GRIMMA, THE FINAL BOSS, THE finall boss that you usually have to use a falchion to do significant damge, she is the hero we need and deserve.

AND TO TOP IT ALL OF, HER MANIACAL LAUGH IS THE CUTEST SHIT IN THE UNIVERSE SHE LAUGHS LIKE A TRUE DISNEY VILLAN AND DOES THE MOST ADORABLE SQUEAL AT THE END OF IT HOLY SHIT, i played the game in english so maybe its just in the english version BUT DAMN DID THE VA FUCKING NAILED IT its like, so perfect how she goes from insane laughter to with that little little hint of her broken meekly voice, BOY HOWDY i fell in love then and there the first time i heard it, best part, she triggered a skill/got a critical hit so often that i hear BLOOD AND THUNDER!! and her laugh SO MUCH, AND IT NEVER GOT OLD I was allways allways aaaaallways all giddy bcus i love it so much, i have 3 critical triggers that i love with my whole heart in awakening, 1 is noires laugh, 2 is noire yelling blood and thunder and 3 is frederick saying “pick a god and pray” bcus hot damn all of them just give me goose bumps, also continuing in voice lines trends

HER VOICE ACTRESS IS SO GOOD i cannot even begin to think about a better job to do this kind of character her passive voice is so quiet, scared and broken and her aggressive one is SO aggressive there is no inbetween its either 100% or 1% volume and crazyness its incredible, her passive voice is like she is constantly in the brink of tears just by talking, and her aggressive one is in the brink of snapping your spine in half mortal combat style and going back to the archetype i like THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT DUDE, THIS IS THE PINICLE OF SHY GIRL THAT GOES INSANE VOICE

If you thought i was done gushing about her IM JUST BEGINNING, lets move to her overall design shall we?

comming off of the voice actress incredible job, her whole demeanor compliments her voice so well, its one of those designs that you just cant see it any other way (even tho i do some changes to it all the time xD) i just cant imagine her having that voice and *not* looking like that you know? she looks straight up incredible (i could maybe use actual breastplate rather than a boob window with a leather support underneath but hey, i guess nothing is perfect)

Her official art of her drawing back her bow but the arrow being all badly placed and shit is objectively the most adorable picture in the world

The tones of green they used for her are really cool i grew in a place with a lot of trees and i really find them soothing, her whole forest green design just kills me and compliment her browns of belt and leather so well, the diamond pattern is also rul cute rather than the boring line pattern virion has, complimenting her whole deal of her being as beautiful and precious as a diamond

The armor she has on her arm looks so good, and so contrasting to the whole outfit i think its really funny but really badass at the same time, why is she wearing a full on knight arm armor? i have no clue but. i. love. it. she is such a powerful unit that she just needs one arm to defend against scrubs aka all enemy units including grimma itself

I also really really like how she has like 5 leather belts that go from the belt to her high boots, its real unnecessary and you would think goofy as hell but it ENHANCES the poofy pants so good, now it looks liek a renissance striped poofy pants and i am a sucker for renissance clothing, also, imagine her doing flips and twirls with those, they are gonna follow her flow like a god damn princess dress and god dammit she deserves it bcus she IS A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS 100/10 pants/belt combo, she also has the slickest quiver ever for her arrows, which she hangs on her waist and looks rul cute

dude’s had a genetic predeliciton towards depressiveness since school days, but it never really manifested since it usually gets worse under stress (in my experience) and he got off clean during HS.

then the PTSD nailed him hard when Ciriola died and the depression popped up in a sweet two disorders for one deal that no one wanted and things went so far downhill they may as well be subterranean.

he’s been in the gang for two years as of VA (per me myself and i deciding that bc his timeline is a damn mess) and when he first joined it was an extremely nasty and taxing affair to just keep him alive and not either a) doing the whole depression wallowing for days on end or b) disappearing into the sketchiest part of the city he could reach on foot and trying to basically just wind up dead in an alley. he’d alternate. his drinking was a helluva lot worse then (hes still bad, but he doesnt often binge and he hasnt gotten blackout drunk in about a year)

abba has really, really bad coping methods, all of which amount to either “trying to not exist” and “determined self-destruction”. it’s not like he injures himself on purpose, it’s that he does shit he knows is dangerous and harmful (drinking, picking fights, eating less) on purpose but that aren’t visible physically self harm. he flat out fuckin refuses to Get Help(tm) mostly because he can barely even talk about his feelings in any mental state, much less intentionally and to a doctor.

his improvements in mood stabilization (and trust me this.....current abba is Comparatively Stable) are all essentially self-forced. having people to rely on that rely on him in turn kind of forced him out of the idea that nothing he does has a point-- the team gives a shit, sort of, and he gives a shit about them. so he can’t mope himself to death on their floor cause that’s rude. shouldnt say abrasive things to fugo when hes drunk cause the kid fuckn remembers them. that kind of thing. there’s the thing he said to buccellati that essentially is “you make me feel better” which people like to interpret as “look at that bucc makes abbas depression go away” but THATs not how mental illness works my friends. per my interpretation and also some canon aspects of brunos effect on others, abba being around buccellati mostly just makes abba want himself to be less of a p.o.s.

it’s not like, perfect or good, or even the most solid of strategies, but it’s better than nothing and for now it’s as good as abba can get. its a slow and bumpy process, its not like hes gonna be free of relapses or Bad Times(tm) but its Something.

maybe one day hell have his shit together enough to at least see professional help as an option. i can hope.

I don't really do much text confessionals but I just ranted in my host chat so I'm sending it here. ~~This Round~~ this round is gonna be fun, so much fun, and I won't have to do like any gameplay because I think regardless the trian tribe is going to tribal and I wanna see how that plays out, and then if my tribe goes to tribal I'm gonna dip out using my safety without power and let silver kill an og circi since he's gonna pull out that extra vote however, if asya or jules have an advantage / if mj flips that's fine with me too. I'm still debating playing the solar eclipse. I want to cause chaos, and for what? For no reason. *Moments Later* I spun a wheel to determine what I will do this round, and it landed on not playing the solar eclipse and noping out. that's what I'm doing. now you may ask for the strategic value of letting a circi die? Well, if a Circi goes (or two circis go if it's an andro/circi tribal), I'm suddenly 1/2 of my OG tribe left. People may want to pick me up and use me as a number since I will have no allegiance to anyone. This puts me in a lowkey kind of decent position if I lie and say I was gonna be voted out if I didn't safety w/o power. Also playing a safety without power and claiming the magnet would statistically mean I am less likely to have other advantages since other people had searches stockpiled for the swap I'll probably test the waters for a bit after immunity results and then play the magnet to make it look like it wasn't planned and I just got a bad feeling. In other words: I'm turning the crackhead dial-up, it's time for fun! I swear to god if we don't merge after this round I will scream. ~~Planning for the Future~~ oh my god it could be a 10 person merge. because the merge episode is usually episode 8. we're on 6 but that wouldn't make sense to prevent a 5 > 1 person tribe from occurring and 5 votes in a swap seems like a bit much. I feel like at this point I know I probably won't win this game but I'm gonna give them hell while I'm here playing well is boring People on this cast that will probably try to kill me: Cindi, Jay, Nathan, Maybe Jesse? I haven't really spoken much to MJ or Silver, chances are my closest ally is going home this round, Zoe Jonathan and Ari may pick me up if I'm from a minority tribe but dump me very quickly. From my POV the cards are not in my favor, all I have are my advantages so the path of chaos is more beneficial plus I'm sure it's spread I'm pretty good at immunities in merge so they're gonna try to take me out early on like round 1 or 2, So if I want any chance I need to play the following way Since I cannot depend on social connections as much as I normally would 1. Make sure my existing social connections are voted out so that I am not in the group where I don't have the best social connections but I have enough that it is worrisome 2. Play my advantages early in merge if I don't win immunity, cementing myself as a big target 3. Convince people that nobody will take me deep into the game because I have placed myself in the position of a big target 4. Try to get the people that would be 100% against me voted out, while also watching Andro tribe majority. Basically making Andro and Trian fight each other 5. Win immunities near the end and somehow make it deep??? That's my best case scenario at this point in my opinion.

Having to remind myself that is entirely okay to be vengeful and even be blinded by revenge in these games. I've become way too soft for these things in the past couple of years. As of right now, tonight's tribal council should be 2-1-1, since Zach is skipping -- 2 votes for Silver (Asya, Jules), 1 vote Jules (Silver), and 1 vote Asya (me). If Silver's 50/50 coin lands on SAFE, the it’ll tie between Aysa and Jules and I think I’ll get auto-eliminated if it’s rocks instead of a 1v1 tiebreaker, and I’m OK with that I think! If it lands on NOT SAFE then Silver is leaving, period! And Silver deserves to leave, and I shouldn't feel nervous about taking this shot, no matter if it backfires or not. It makes me feel icky to think that Nathan, Jessie, and Silver were in cahoots from the very start and I didn't care enough to control my own game because I've become too accustomed to jellyfishing my way through ORGs to avoid being pinpointed as a leader or strategist. I'm putting my foot down tonight. I'm taking this shot and if it works, then it's merely the beginning of the end for half of the remaining cast as far as I'm concerned. If it backfires, then oh well, at least I tried something here. NO REGRETS! Anyway, just had the first alliance call with Aysa and Jules and it was great! Good vibes! We just chit-chatted and discussed strategy and previous dynamics. It will be a shame if we don’t get to push forward together after tonight. I’m also telling Silver right now not to play the 50/50 befcause if it doesn’t land on safe then the vote will be 3-2 if Aysa is lying; and if Aysa is telling the truth then he’s wasting a power that he could have later on. It kinda makes no sense for him to use the 50/50 considering the information he’s being told. I’m fine with pitching this to him because he said he was 100% gonna use it anyway, so me telling him not to will either leave things the same or result in him not using it at all. There’s no losing there. The only way to lose is if it lands on safe. The savage in me is saying, no MJ don’t let yourself get auto-eliminated if things go south, CUT JULES! And I realize that that’s exactly how I should be thinking given the first two lines of this confessional!!! But I wanna be a risk taker. I’m fine with this blowing up because the potential reward is greater than me being auto-eliminated. + Jack was rocked out last season so it would be cute to match that if it comes down to it! AHHH sorry this is coming so late but I've had a busy busy few days, and luckily I've avoided tribal during this time lol So before I was feeling a bit shaky on this tribe, I felt like everyone was more connected to each other than to me. But as it turns out, that's completely untrue and I feel very at the center of this tribe. Nathan and I have had multiple long talks recently where we've decided that we want to stick together deep into this game, and he's given me some info about how he and Silver gave up their immunity shards to Jessie, so she has an idol now. Cindi and I have a connection from our original tribe too and I've been keeping up on that relationship too. I gave her a clue I found during an expedition but nothing really came of it since it's, as far as I can tell, impossible to decipher. If we did end up going to tribal, I would have made a push to take out Jessie TBH, even though she has the idol. I feel like even if Nathan wasn't for it, they'd go for Cindi and not me. But luckily that doesn't matter because we're immune and likely heading for a merge in the next 30 minutes. And if not a merge, than another swap bc I think y'all hosts anticipated that one tribe could have lost all of the last 3 immunities and I don't think you want a 2 person tribe at the f11. But yeah I feel really good about my place in the game, I want Nathan to be my shield for the time being bc he's so vocal and strategic that he will always be a target ahead of me.

OKAY sooo I'll keep this first one brief. My tribe is pretty cool. I love Jared, I'm a little bit worried though because 1) he knows I'm a snake and will be scared of me and 2) he'll prob be able to know I'm friends with Ashley, but otherwise, he's my number 1 on this tribe and my favorite person in the cast other than ash. Okay so- Howdy! This is your cowboy speaking. I am going to go over my general strategy for the game and what I have done so far. I want to play a very physically/socially-centered meathead kind of game- a James Clement if you will. I want to try and win every challenge that I participate in and if we lose, I want to have 1 alliance with the strongest players that I will be 100% unwaveringly loyal to. Pretty basic stuff. So my alliance is with Owen and Sammy, which oddly enough- the last 2 Big Brother games I played, they were the people who got me out, respectively. Owen/Dana/Quill in BOTS and Sammy in Legacy3. So it's a risky group but this is the strategy that I outlined for myself so I'm gonna stick to it. They will be my F3 and I will literally ride with them until the wheels fall off. Until the hooves fall off, in western speak. I have no clue if they will be loyal to the end or try to target me on some point, but I have to try to keep them from eating the apple, because I'm not going to flip as my one-dimensional gameplan will not allow that! I confirmed with both of them that this is a trio they are good with, and the Pika-Dudes were born. I think it would be pretty rewarding for me if I could actually get them to stick together and make it to the end. But they could have other alliances on this tribe and vote me out this round for all I know, but so far my perspective is that they seem loyal Lastly, I suggested that we do the song "Before He Cheats" for the challenge, and that's the first time a tribe has ever taken my suggestion for the song, so I'm happy with that. I'll check back in if we lose the comp :)

This weekend was so flipping busy. I'm trying to get caught up at work before vacation and Matthew is here. I don't feel like I've gotten to bond with my tribe much. I'm glad to see Dylan A. We've not really gotten to play together much because he always gets voted out early in games we play but I don't think he will come for me and he's a bigger target than I. I like my tribe a lot. Jared is really funny and Sammy kicked butt in the challenge. I've talked to Owen a tad. I'm glad we didn't lose because I deserved to go home. I didn't get back from Erica's bday thing until 4 and then it wouldn't let me use the song I bought some it is copyrighted so I only had 30 sec then I couldn't get it to film horizontal. I'm a big ol mess. Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaw! 😂

Whew okay so I don't know anyone on my tribe (kinda) which is good but also a bit scary since its just 6 of us. Overall, I feel like everyone's a bit quiet and not too talkative. That being said, they might be talking a bunch in PMs. Right now, I am trying to stay under the radar and just be friendly with everyone. I really like Austin, Eve and Patrick right now. Keaton and Isaac are nice too but I dont really talk to them as much. If we would have lost this first immunity challenge I would have definitely wanted to vote for one of them. No official alliances yet but its still early so I think its okay. THANK FUCKING GOD WE WON. Okay well, we got 2nd but thats a win in my eyes. I just really hope I make it to jury and I will be happy so not being first boot is GREAT. Im trying to get this damn idol but I cant catch a fucking break and my ass keeps getting zapped... Am I disappointed with my tribe? No. Am I disappointed with the outcome? Yes. I'm not a fan of these subjective challenges because the criteria literally changes everytime and all the judges (who are usually unqualified, uneducated and underemployed) seem to like to harp in on the most random shit like- I can't. And the fact that I, someone who never edited a fucking video before, had to do that shit just shows how useless my tribe is overall. Either useless or lazy but either way... I'm predicting a Matsing performance from this tribe. Why the fuck did I get placed here? So far people are fine but I don't /love/ anyone. Maybe I could put in more effort but like Chloe/Nick/Vi all seem fine and fun but like nobody I'm too connected with yet. I'm sure it'll come. Chloe and I seem to have the most similar personality but something tells me she's like connected idk. I don't see her going far with me. I see Nick/Vi being loyal though. hintero as a 75% chance of having bastards on account of just being, a Fuck, but what impact that would have a different matter. I don’t think any of his bastards are currently on the chart, or at least i hope not because that means he’s been fucking /other peoples wives/ which is definitely one way to punish your wife for infidelity, i guess. fuck other peoples wives instead. boy howdy right. plus some of the kids in the right age bracket end up marrying his legit kids and boooooyyyyyy fucking howdy id pay for that ntot o be what occurs. some are also absolutely 100% not Shonyul bastards - for instance Lord Taren Ishir is 100% Larions’ legitimate son, because Hintero would never go so far as to even consider fucking Larion and she would probably murder him before he could.

the kerinston kids are a different matter in that they COULD probably be shonyuls bastards, but one would Hope they aren’t. Particularly Yumi Kerinston, who married Daleon Emaldo. While that would explain the early death of their son Brimeon Emaldo, its kinda Fucked and im not down for it. Even if Yumi was basically the last like, ~eligible maiden~ for a perpetual bachelor dickhead like Daleon, if they were actually half siblings even Hintero wouldve gone ‘surely theres Someone else’ and Yumi wouldve gone ‘yea I’m sure theres someone else. what about one of my Zubris cousins?’ and we would have avoided it. Even if Yumi isn’t aware of the relationship she wouldve tried to dodge anyway (she DID try to dodge, for what its worth)

Glorion Kerinston is safe re: incest shenanigannery but also What would be the point of that. not to mention I don’t even thing Undara would be particularly interested in fucking Hintero on principle, unless she was deliberately trying to fuck over her own husband. and while thats possible considering she’s an Ilnon supporter instead of an Ishir-Kerinston supporter? I don’t think she would tbh.

Her being one of his bastards would not really change anything (Stelia and Brandeon still aren’t related) but it WOULD be kinda fucked, so, im gonna say he didnt fuck his cousins wife. He definitely didn’t fuck his actual cousin Riala - Princes Zaloren and Treveon are definitely not his kids. Theres 0 chance Riala would cop to that.

point being its... mostly unlikely he had bastards with anyone on the chart, so noone on the chart is his bastard. god bless. there is arguably room in the Tellis chart (specifically than Hintero fucked Marchioness Hana of Tellis), which would actually make Grelan probably his own son, which is a Fuck of a Way to go about it honestly. that would be funny... like extremely hilarious. because even though Grelan is like, 9 years younger than Muna and is not a succession threat, he would be a Shonyul and boy would that fucking shatter the Shonyuls, right. itd be fucking hilarious. whether that is a realistic series of events is a different matter entirely. its in character for Hintero to do it, and it perhaps adds an interesting twist to the idea of the Shonyuls deliberately betraying Brimeon (ie that it was actually a miscommunication between Hintero and Muna, with Hintero being genuine and Muna being insincere in her support of Grelan). Whether Hana would go for it? eeeeeh? She’s not exactly a character so I don’t really know what the fuck her deal is. Maybe she’s down, maybe she isnt. By the time she would be clowning around with Hintero (like march 392 or so, since Grelan and Brandeon are actually born the same year) she already has one kid, Lady Idena. There’s no issue in the succession way, and even were something to happen to Idena, Hana being the title holder (presumptive, her dad didnt die for 23 years after that) would keep her bastard son in succession so long as she claimed him as legitimate. Issues only arise on Hintero’s side as to whether he claims Grelan as his legitimate son.

plus theres the very nice fact that Grelan wouldn’t look out of place if he was hintero’s bastard. The only reason it was obvious that Brandeon was a bastard was because his presumed father, Brasteon Dovaldun, was from a family with a very distinctive appearance, with their red eyes and hair descending from notable Suungkee ancestors (elves, yall). Hintero and Hana, as probably full humans, have no such strange distinctions and its not as though a hair colour difference would be noteworthy. Both have brown hair, so the worlds your oyster in there. eye colour might be more of a tell, as Hana and her husband Yola have fairly light coloured eyes and Hintero’s are quite dark, but its something that can be hand-waved. if the politics or genetics were ever discussed, they would not have posed an issue. it honestly just boils down to whether Hana was down to clown, and since Im the Bitch in control here, I say why the fuck not. I think its fun. I think it plays more into the Hintero vs Muna dynamic which evolves over the course of 425 and the Second Vosti War. its fucking Great, yall. yeehaw. i just think its Neat. it doesnt even need to become public knowledge - all it needs to do is inform public actions. which it would :)c

he would have other bastards tho. is Yola Tellis another of his bastards, or just Grelan? In the 9 year gap its possible Hana and Hintero sort of fell out and that Yola jr is genuinely Yola sr’s son. since Yola jr isn’t Hintero’s kid at all. His other bastards are spread out elsewhere and are likely less relevant overall due to the smaller status afforded by their parentage (aka as not being imperial or imperial adjacent, unless some of them are Zubris or Birtons, who are just as imperial adjacent as the Tellis family). I don’t have charts for those families tho and i dont Plan to Make any. We’re gonna be chucking the other bastards in some minor families for ease. Too lazy to do it any other way :P

so the tl;dr Hintero definitely has bastards outside of Brandeon Wardis (who isn’t really his bastard, rather his wifes, but counts as his because like, legal shit), notably Brimeon IV’s legal heir, Lord Grelan Tellis. This will impact some of the character motives heading into 425 and the Second Vosti War :3c
