My Thoughts on Ep.06 - We Take a Zebra to Vegas, A rant (SPOILERS AHEAD!)
Actual Iris-messaging on screen! Good way to start the episode.
Yes, toss the drachma, SEAWEED BRAIN!
If you want the gods’ attention, you have to pay for it. Eh, not surprised since it’s kinda how children have to do to get their parents’ attention these days.
Wtf is Luke Castellan doing in Chiron’s office?
We know who stole the bolt. (Book-readers, we know who stole the bolt!)
*Calm expression* How do you know? and not *gasp* Really? Who is it? Very sus. 🤔
I do have a love-hate relationship with Clarisse La Rue as a character, but accusing her as the lightning thief? OH, HELL NO!
This convo:
Luke: Guys, what is this?
Percy and Annabeth: What?
Luke: When did you turn into an old married couple?
Percy and Annabeth:
Tumblr media
Everyone in the fandom:
Tumblr media
Luke channeling his big brother energy by teasing Annabeth, his little sister, to a boy her age. Annabeth’s going through that older-sibling-embarrassing-you-in-front-of-your-crush stage. It’s just typical sibling stuff.
Annabeth, externally: *pokerface*; Annabeth, internally: STOP EMBARRASSING ME!
Confirmed: Luke ships Percabeth. 🥰
Percy changing the subject because he’s also embarrassed.
Annabeth cuts off the connection before Percy can mention Hermes and tells him Luke and his dad aren’t on good terms.
Grover just figured out that the truck is driven by animal traffickers and insists that they free the animals is absolute peak characterization.
They’re like artists. Proceeds to release the animals in the middle of traffic.
How that convo basically went:
Percy: Idk about this, man.
Grover: Oh, they’ll be fine. I gave them the satyr’s blessing so they’ll be able to reach the wilderness safely.
Percy: Dude, I meant for these people.
Grover: Oh, uh, it’s fine. These people destroyed nature so idgaf about them. But the animals are fine, so let’s go!
Percy: So, which hotel is the Lotus Casino? It could be any building-
Annabeth: Duh! Obviously, it’s the one with the giant lotus blossom on it.
Percy: Seriously?
3 minors walking into a Casino hotel. Totally normal and not suspicious at all.
Dua Lipa’s Levitating instead of Lady Gaga’s Pokerface. I ain’t even mad.
WISE GIRL! WISE GIRL! WISE GIRL! HE CALLED HER WISE GIRL! 😍🥰
Of course, Annabeth insists Percy goes with her. Percabeth! 😍
Annabeth tells Percy about May Castellan, Luke’s Mom. It’s kinda early to know about this, but I’m not complaining. It just justifies Luke’s resentment of Hermes in the show.
Grover: *finds Augustus, a fellow Satyr* *Forgets everything*
Please tell me someone else heard some kid calling out BIANCA in the background. It's not just me, right? Please tell me it's the di Angelo siblings in the Lotus Casino. UNCLE RICK, WE NEED ANSWERS!
Percy explaining his nightmares and asks if they are real.
How that convo went:
Annabeth: Hmm, idk
Percy: How do you not know?
Annabeth: I may be smart but there are things I don’t know.
Percy: Wtf does that make me then?
Hermes/Alexander Hamilton not throwing away his shot. How does a bastard, son of a god and a Pleiad. Grow up to be a master trickster, according to Homer’s Illiad…
In Vegas you can be a new man...apparently, not.
Hermes: I’m not doing this again. You’re on your own, kids. Bye!
Annabeth: We’re friends of Luke’s.
Hermes: *surprise pikachu face* Damn it, let’s talk.
Hermes being an epitome of another crappy absent godly parent. Not surprised.
Annabeth doing what probably Luke taught her to do:
Annabeth: So I stole Hermes’ keys.
Percy: You what?
Annabeth: I turned invisible and picked his pocket.
Percy: You stole from the god of thieves?
Annabeth: Yes, I’m multi-talented. Lol
Percy: *lowkey falls in love*
The lotus fruit being pumped into the air is something new.
Percy: Grover got really old. 🤣
Percy and Annabeth chases Augustus around while Grover’s playing VR games.
Grover forgetting things because he was alone, while Percy and Annabeth remember because they have each other. PERCABETH!
Grover acting all carefree like a dentist just sedated him with nitrous oxide, while Percy and Annabeth are frantically looking for Hermes’ car will never be not funny.
TO THE DUMB KIDS. Yep, that note is for you.
Percy: So, who’s driving?
Percy and Annabeth turning to Grover because he’s the adult.
Grover: *still high* Idk man. Idk what we're even doing here.
Percy: Ok, I’ll do it. How hard can it be. If I killed the Minotaur, I can drive a cab.
Percy: How hard could this be? Proceeds to hit the car on several columns.
Percy getting angry because another car didn’t slow down and nearly hit them, then slamming the horn. Bruh, you’re inner New Yorker is showing and I’m here for it.
This scene: 😍😍😍
Tumblr media
Me, watching this scene:
Tumblr media
Percy and Annabeth smiling at each other then realizing the car’s scraping the wall. This shit cracked me up.
The truck nearly hitting them gave me a mini-heart attack. Good thing they’re in Hermes’ cab.
Percy half-nervous and half-excited to finally meet his Dad only to find a Nereid instead, giving him 4 teleportation pearls as a gift.
The title implying they took a Zebra to Vegas but we see no zebra? Come on! Anyway, that was a good episode. Can't wait for the Percy vs Ares showdown next week.

Percy Jackson episode 6. Wow. So many good things. I still want longer episodes. I want more of it all. But everything we got was soooo good. Grover talked to the animals on the truck and found out that the drivers were trafficking them. I would have loved to see Percy talk to the zebra but 🤷‍♀️ And then Grover's like I gave them a satyr's blessing they'll make it back to the wild safely and Percy says what about the people and Grover is like 🫤 didn't think about that
Annabeth called Percy seaweed brain for him to toss the coin for the Iris message!!
There were some parts of the episode that felt straight out of the book. Grover talking to the animals and then them just being released in the streets of Las Vegas. What Luke said during the iris message. All the different things at the lotus casino and grover forgetting why he was there. and time passing faster. In the book they maybe don't remember what the lotus flower is at first but it made sense for them to know before going in that they shouldn't eat anything. Of course they knew that.
Percy called Annabeth wise girl!
Finding pan was a vr game! My poor sweet grover he really felt like he was so close :(
Percy ! Driving ! oh ! my god! him trying to drive straight is like me trying to go straight in a video game. I kind of thought that Annabeth would drive cause she's the really smart one. Then again, percy has been in more cars. but in the end it didn't matter cause he still didn't know what he was doing.
the envelope from hermes that said to the dumb kids !!!! loved that
interesting change that the nereid gave percy 4 pearls. I wonder what the plan with that is.

Made some designs for that AU I mentioned, here's all the folks who in the AU live outside of town and also Katherine Elizabeth because she's gonna show up in one of the things I've got planned out. Some design notes:
Impulse, in this AU, would be half-dwarf and half-human. He's a blacksmith, living outside of town with Skizz. I wanted his clothes to be sturdy-looking and to actually resemble clothes that a blacksmith would wear. Under his gloves, on his right wrist, he's got that hardcore heart tattoo (matching Skizz's) that I've put on his design anyways for a while just cuz I'm attached to it.
Skizz, of course, has to have no sleeves and all that. I wanted him to keep his glorious wonderful hair, but it's ponytailed so it's out of the way. He's also been blessed by the fae folk with a silver tongue, so his tongue is actually silver (not made of silver but colored silver. Cuz it's neat). Also I gave Skizz (and a lot of the others) little sidebags because I feel like that would be a convenient thing for them to have.
Gem is an elven alchemist, I wanted her to have a functional outfit that also had an almost dress-ish silhouette, just because. I think I like the colors?? I might dial back the pink but it's gotta stay pink for complimentary. Also she gets a long poofy bubble braid as a reference to her Empires season 1 hair.
Pearl is a former high priestess for a goddess (also named Pearl) whose following has disbanded, that's where the sunflower tattoo comes from (also I plan to put Sausage in this AU and he has one too). Other than that, I figured she'd take up organization and such as a job post high priestess occupation, so I wanted her to be functional in what she wears. She probably works in the castle, but doesn't live there.
Tango, in this AU, is half-elven, a quarter human, and a quarter fire sprite. When he's not ranching with Jimmy, he's tinkering and making stuff to share with Zedaph and Impulse. Honestly he's not too different from how I draw him normally lol.
Jimmy is a tiny bit fae, which doesn't really mean anything for his appearance other than that his pupils reflect light. Mostly wanted him to just be functional as well, because he's the other half of the ranchers and he's gotta be in functional shape to take care of the cows, chickens, horses, and their singular unicorn.
Zed I made into a satyr / faun (sheep man) again (since that's no longer my default for him I may as well use it here), he's a tinkerer as well who lives in a cave and vibes most of the time. Every now and then he wanders out and shows everyone the stuff he's made, but mostly he's just vibing.
Katherine, in this AU, is a travelling monster hunter (probably also blessed by the faes), and while she doesn't necessarily live around the town or anything, she passes through every now and again to pick up supplies and hunt monsters. She would generally carry two axes, one silver and one gold (for fighting different monsters- silver is most effective against some and gold for others), but I figure for her first introduction she doesn't have her gold axe due to losing a bet. I based her outfit on her monster hunter look from Empires season 2.
Anyways! Random design thoughts and tidbits for y'all. I've got comic ideas which I'm gonna start on soon, but that said, please enjoy these for now! :D

‘Whosoever is delighted in Solitude is either a Wilde Beast or a God’ FRANCIS BACON (1561 – 1626) Essays, On Friendship Art: St Anthony and the Satyr
Story behind the art, roughly paraphrased from what I remember in the Vita Antonii (of Athanasius): While in the desert, Saint Anthony, then just Anthony, met a centaur and a satyr (thin on the ground but still something you could find in the late Roman Empire, especially in the deserts and wild places). They mocked him for being a Christian and then Anthony converted them through prayer, because that's how these things go. The centaur gave Anthony directions to find a friend and fellow hermit and the satyr asked for a blessing. As far as Saint Anthony's adventures, this was probably a fairly normal Tuesday afternoon for him.

A small satyr was sitting in what seemed to be a golden cage. No,...it was an entire room but the windows were locked. It’s bars, looking decorative and pretty. To make it seem more elegant. To hide it’s true purpose.
Regardless the small child was happily humming to themselves, looking up at the woman who was sitting nearby. She was absentmindedly holding a flower, tearing off it’s petals.
“ Are you alright mother? “
A small voice rang out, small golden eyes looking at the woman with concern. However, those innocent eyes were met with confusion and a hollow gaze. A smile graced the woman’s face. A tired and defeated one, laced with a hint of mockery.
“ Hmm? I am just fine...but Lightbringer...I am not your mother. “
She explained, rolling her eyes as that smile never left her. The Starborn Satyr was confused, not understanding why she would say something like that. Sure, it had been explained to them before but..they couldn’t understand.
“ But..you gave birth to me didn’t you? So...that makes you my mother! “
They said, their little tail wagging as if they were proud of their statement. In a way they were! But then again...the other did not seem to care and stared at the flower for a bit.
“...You know...Lightbringer...I was always..a simple person. One that went through hardships beyond your imagination. “
The woman got up, slowly pacing around the room. One hand tracing along the walls that radiated magic. Looking outside the window there were various people in the village, living out their lives with a purpose. A grand purpose.
“...Yet despite the suffering I went through...there was one wish me and the great Leader had shared in our youth. A family....”
She hummed to herself, cleaning up the room as she continued to pace around not even looking at the satyr. The child grew only more confused, not quite following. Were they not family?
“ But...you gave birth to me...and the great Leader is my father isn’t he? “
She stopped, tilting her head to the side. Silence filling the room before she suddenly began to laugh as if this child just had made a joke.
“ Oh Lightbringer..you sure have a great sense of humor...perhaps even a little cruel. I may have given birth to you but...that is simply because the stars itself...defiled me. My blood and core tainted by those so called Starborn...therefore you simply cannot be my child. “
Stepping forward, she knelt down and leaned in close...to an eerie degree. One hand brushing against the child’s neck as if she was about to wring it forcefully.
“...But...you are a blessing..a step to salvation...and you will destroy the stars that mock us. “
And with that she suddenly stepped back, clearing her throat and walking towards the door.
“ Don’t worry Lightbringer....you have no need for parents. You’re divine after all. “
With a hard slam of the door, the woman left behind the small satyr child. Who at this point was feeling more lonely than ever. Were they...filthy too then?

I like to think Grover was the one who kept a close eye on Jason during his time at Camp Half-blood.
Annabeth would soon join him but for a long while she was more concerned about bringing Percy home than the new arrivals.
Grover also wanted Percy home, but knew from their link that wherever he was he was happy and presumably safe. And it was Percy, he had to be.
He also sympathised with Jason who seemed to have no idea what was going on or why Annabeth was glaring at him.
And being the Lord of the Wild, he noticed something different about Jason. Everyone had remarked that he was odd but Grover could tell that Jason wasn't completly human.
From his understanding humans don't growl, they don't drop on all fours and hiss. They didn't tend to bite people that angered them nor chew bones.
There was also the fact Jason was strong, as strong as the most battle hardened Ares kid and had quite pointy teeth and fangs.
The boy carried a blessing of someone ancient, someone who Grover couldn't pin point but was very much of the wild.
Jason was out in the forest, he tended not to stay around the camp grounds and went just as far as the barrier would allow him to. He perked up, turning his head when he saw Grover approaching.
"Thought I'd find you out here" He said, approaching carefully and when he sat there was a gap between them. Giving Jason the opportunity to run or leave if he wished, the God's knew he'd been interrogated enough these past few days.
Jason looked at him curiously, cautiously before shrugging. He pointed to the camp, made a blah blah hand gesture at his face while he looked confused.
Grover chuckled "lemme guess she was tall and blonde?" Jason nodded with a shudder. "Believe me she's nicer than she seems now, she's just worried. And when she gets worried she gets a bit intense." He explained, Jason gave him a look of disbelief but shrugged.
"Can't I say I blame you though, figured I'd come here for some peace." Jason nodded, looking about at the various naids and plants "it's nice" He said, making Grover pause in suprise.
"Huh, didn't think you could talk" He said offhandedly, not wanting to push him away. Jason shook his head "I can, not well in English. Words get stuck, my mama didn't teach me." He explained, his voice hoarse from just how little he used it.
Grover nodded slowly "do you know who taught you?" Jason deflated, shaking his head sadly. He didn't, he just knew someone had but couldn't put a name or face to who it was. "I'm sorry Jason, we're gonna help you find your way back home" promised Grover, heart melting at Jason's big sad eyes.
He got up on all fours from where he was sat, throwing his head back and howled.
And Grover understood it instantly, better than he'd ever understood Jason. It was a cry that pups gave when they were seperated from their pack. Jason howled, 'help, I'm lost. Mama! Mama I'm here!' and Grover watched as he stopped and sniffled.
He pulled out his reed pipes and began playing a song, 'your son is here, your pup is here' Jason paused, recognising what Grover was saying and whimpered. He curled up beside the Satyr, tears in his eyes that fell to the ground.
Jason looked so much like Percy when he first came to camp, scared, angry and confused and just wanting his mum back.
And Grover promised, promised he'd bring Jason home. He played some different songs, calming the son of Zeus that curled up by his side.

Safe With Us
When we last left off Tommy had found Tubbo and swallowed him. Was this a malicious act or an attempt to save the kid? Find out in this chapter!
Tw: vore, swearing, blood,
Tommy could smell something was dying nearby. Any Titan could recognize the smell of blood and rotting life essence. He and Ranboo went to go investigate, moving through the Sakura Forest quietly and swiftly. The good news is he could still sense the creature was alive, the bad news was it was starting to slip again. Not good.
Originally the two were just hunting, their food supply was low and they needed more meat. Ranboo kept warbling about wanting to actually cook so Tommy gave in, and here the two are. However, recently they felt a disturbance, something was wrong, they could feel it. Almost like it was affecting them directly. Tommy didn’t like the lighter feeling of less living things in their territory, hopefully everything was fine.
Tommy summoned electric energy to dash foreward, hurrying as fast as he could, when he picked up a dreadfully familiar smell. A Naga. Even worse. Nagas were notorious for being able to swallow things even slightly bigger than themselves. If this Naga were to reach whatever was dying before the two titans could, the creature was definitely gone for good. Not on his fucking watch.
Tommy slowed to a steady jog, sniffing the air, they were close, so was the Naga.
“Ranboo, you go look for the Naga, I’ll get the creature.” Tommy instructed. Ranboo tilted his head in confusion.
“Tommy, I don’t speak Titan remember?” He warbled nervously. Tommy kept forgetting. He cleared his throat,
“Go find the snake, I’ll get the human.” He repeated in ender this time, glad Phil had taught him a useful and yet not useful language. Ranboo nodded and teleported away.
Tommy dropped to a crouch and let the feeling of the creature’s presence and it’s scent guide him, moving foreward cautiously. Eventually he found it, and gasped with horror at how it looked.
It was a young satyr, only a year older than him if he had to guess. It’s left side was badly scarred and was bleeding in some places. This creature was not going to make it, unless…
Tommy was blessed with the heart of the planet. As a Titan he had the sacred duty of guarding the sentient life that shared the same land as him. Part of his ability set was surprisingly healing saliva, which was trippy if you asked him. But it would have to work, this was to save the creature. Tommy gently picked them up and touched his nose to their chest. “Be still little one, you’ll be better in no time,” he whispered, even though he was pretty sure it was dead asleep.
Tommy opened his mouth and gently slid the creature into the electric blue abyss, gingerly licking it, it tasted more like metal than the faint taste of honey he detected, strange, weren’t they supposed to taste like they were rotting when close to dying? He felt something bump into his hand and looked down. The Naga, a familiar Naga.
Dream. Tommy thought bitterly as he quickly and gently swallowed the satyr to store them. He will continue this later. He grabbed the snake before he could get away, making sure this time he couldn’t bite him. Dream may be smaller than him but Naga venom could put him down for a few days.
“Bite me and I’ll break your fucking neck, what are you doing in my forest?” He snarled, his teeth were bared at the snake man.
“ wait wait don’t eat me please! Don’t eat me! I can explain what happened!” Dream begged. Oh, he can understand Titan now, that’s good, it would be better if he were a Naga Tommy actually liked though.
“You have five seconds to start talking, go.” Tommy said.
“I was sleeping in a tree in the jungle, my sister was gone with my mom to visit so I was just there alone, then I smelled smoke, went to investigate, and got caught by these wierd creatures that look like a Titan but less scary, you know? I woke up in a cage and was trapped for two days then I met the satyr and I knew they were gonna kill him so I helped him escape and many others, but then he got shot when we escaped and now I’m here please don’t bite me in half you look like you really want to.” Dream rambled, shying away in the Titan’s grasp and wrapping his tail around his fingers.
Tommy’s brow furrowed. “Show me where.” He said as Ranboo came back. Ranboo liked confused.
“Isn’t that the one you said bit you on the jugular vein?” He asked.
“Well apparently there are creatures causing a lot of problems. Come on.” Tommy said as the two followed the directions of the Naga.
~~~~
Surely enough after a few hours of travel the Titans could smell dragon fire smoke. Something did happen here. As they approached there was a hideous metal bunker with the surrounding forest chopped down. There were walls with strange webs that when Tommy touched them they clung to his finger, and kinda hurt him.
“What is this place?” Ranboo asked.
“A slaughterhouse. I’ve watched dozens get carried into a room and never come out alive, always as a sort of trophy or carcass.” Dream said.
“It’s a slaughterhouse Ranboo. We have to tell Phil and XD, they’ll know how to solve this.” Tommy translated. Ranboo clasped his hands over his mouth to stifle a surprised gasp.
“We can’t get them involved unless it threatens the Heartstone, last time we did XD got mad and nearly killed us.” Ranboo stated.
“But they could be after The Heartstone! Think about it! Why else would they be kidnapping creatures?!” Tommy hissed.
“You know the kid has a point,” Dream piped in. “If they’re hunting the Heartstone we have to let them know or we’re all in danger. Even chipping a piece off can have horrible effects on the world.” Since when could this little shit understand Ender?!
Ranboo murred uncomfortably. The Naga was right, they were in danger if the Heartstone was in danger.
“All right go on you bitch, I don’t need you anymore.” Tommy growled, letting the Naga go.
“Is the satyr gonna be okay?” Dream asked, slithering out of Tommy’s hand.
“Yes, he’s safe with us.” Tommy confirmed. “Now go before I change my mind, dickhead.” Dream slithered away back into the depths of the forest, probably to return home.
“Wow, you’re scary.” A voice said. Oh, Tommy had almost forgotten about the satyr in his crop. He coughed up the little creature and gently released them into his hands. Ranboo peaked over his shoulder to look.
“Woah, real titans! I never thought I’d get to see some! Actually, I never thought I’d get to wake up again and see the sun…” the satyr said somberly. Ranboo gave Tommy a glare.
“Dont look at me like that he was still asleep.” Tommy grumbled, turning his attention to the satyr in his hands. “Can you understand Titan?” He asked.
The satyr tilted his head with confusion. So he couldn’t understand Titan, fair enough. Tommy’s Ferus was rusty but at least he knew some important key words and phrases for talking to tiny sentient species.
“Are you okay?” He rumbled out. The satyr nodded.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, my name is Tubbo!” The satyr-Tubbo-mused.
“What happened?” He asked, pointing to the building.
“Oh, these creatures called humans kidnapped my village and I was about to be shot to death. And I did almost get shot to death, but then I woke up in your belly. You’re not that quiet are you?” Tubbo said.
Well he had a point, Shockwave Titans were normally boisterous and loud when they spoke, rarely ever quiet. They spoke with the authority of a thunderstorm.
“Where now?” Tommy asked, wishing Phil had taught him more. XD and Ranboo were probably the only two creatures that could speak ender enough that he needed to know how to speak, Ferus would have been far more useful.
“I dunno, I just remember blacking out with the Naga slithering up to me. At first I thought I was inside of him but then I realized I couldn’t be., it’s too big and spacious in there.” Tubbo rambled. Jeez this kid likes to keep talking.
“You’re safe, don’t panic, still healing.” He said. He hated how he sounded but it was the only way he could communicate.
“Okay, what are you gonna do though?” Tubbo asked, a little worried. Tommy brought him closer to his face, the satyr’s shirt was practically nonexistent and was splotched with dried blood all over it, but he didn’t need anymore healing, which was good. He didn’t want to further scare the creature and continue to taste metal. Tommy lowered Tubbo to his chest.
“He’s mostly healed, I can’t do anymore for him, he’ll be scarred forever.” Tommy said to Ranboo.
“Still can’t speak Titan.” Ranboo said.
“Oh come the fuck on!” Tommy roared with annoyance, getting a giggle out of the Enderian Titan.
“He’s fine, he just needs time to recover, let’s take him back, he’s safer with us if these, humans are as dangerous as Tubbo says.” Tommy said, curling his fingers around his chest.
“So, are you two gonna eat me or something?” Tubbo asked. Tommy shook his head quickly and Ranboo made a disgusted hiss. Even he could smell the metallic overlay of the Satyr’s honey scent. Tubbo made a quiet giggle when he heard the hiss, and yawned.
“Rest,” was all Tommy said and he could feel the Satyr snuggle up in his hand.
The two walked back to their little camp set up, unaware that there was something following them. Something small but equally as dangerous as a Titan.
(Bonus: Titan Ranboo concept pog? (You can’t really do chimerism in heroforge, so I gave him calico spots!)
"No love can exist without trust."
The words echoed through (y/n)s head as they wandered through the still dark field. It seemed no use to them to even try to go back to the villa.
Slowly, they came to a stop next to the brook, laying down amongst the bank, one hand on their stomach as they watched the water pass, wondering what they would do.
How could they go on if Eret had left?
"Are you alright?"
(y/n) jumped at the sudden noise, sitting up and turning to see a saytr- no not just any Satyr, they found themself face to face with Tubbo, god of the wild.
"Uhhh...."
He let his head half fall sideways to look at them closer, "You don't look alright. Have you been crying?"
They sniffed, nodding, "I suppose so, yes. I've just had... a rough day."
He nodded, "Does this have anything to do with what I heard Eret shouting earlier, cause that sounded pretty bad."
"It- was actually."
Tubbo winced, "Yikes. You know, though from what I heard, from what I can see now, you really do look like someone who is very much in love. Don't leave yourself to rot here, you must continue on, and win his affections back."
"But how can I? I've lost all of his trust." They sighed.
"You must try, you must." Tubbo insisted, he offered them a hand and helped them to stand, "There is a way, and you will be able to find it. That I am sure of."
So, (y/n) traveled on, through the lands until they at last reached their home nation. Soon, they sought out their sisters, telling them that their deception had caused them to be cast out, not by a beast, but by the god Eret, himself.
When their sisters claimed excuses, and hurried off (perhaps to try and be taken by the god), (y/n) could only sigh and move on.
As they continued the travel, searching for any signs of their husband, he was stuck in Puffy's castle, the splash of oil having done much more damage than she'd originally thought.
All too soon, Puffy had found out where Eret was, and what had happened. Furiously, she rushed into their chambers, utterly pissed that she had gone so far against her instructions as to fall in love with (y/n).
The goddess was in such a rage, that she hardly noticed the state he was in, instead yelling on about how 'that wretched mortal would need to be punished'.
"No!" Eret cried through gritted teeth, "They may have betrayed me, but this is not their fault!"
"She shall be punished!"
It was only the announcement that Ranboo and George had arrived that pulled Puffy out of her yelling.
"Puffy, what's happened?" George asked once she had returned to the main room.
"Do remember that mortal? The one everyone was infatuated with?" Puffy asked, annoyed.
Ranboo nodded, "I thought you had sent Eret to get rid of them."
"The foolish boy went against me, brought her to some place, kept her safe, and now he's been burned because of it." She sighed, "The mortal will have to be dealt with. No simply plots of a forced love. I shall send them straight down to Wilbur's domain."
George bit his lip, "Well, are you sure that he didn't hide them away for good reason?"
"He fell in love with them." Puffy scoffed.
"Oh come on Puffy, don't punish them just because she fell in love. Doesn't he deserve ore than that? They must have fallen in love for a reason? You are the goddess of love, surely you should understand." Ranboo attempted to defend Eret, only to be cut off.
"I do not care what I should or should not understand! I want this mortal punished, and punished they shall be!" Puffy roared.
Meanwhile, (y/n) still wandered the land, looking for their lover, even as their health seemed to decline.
It had been a rather nice day when they stumbled upon the abandoned temple, covered in debris, and tools left behind. Some how, despite everything, it only made sense to clean the temple. To restore, to the best of their ability, to its former glory, or at least till it didn't look a mess.
It was slow work, but soon they had cleared the weeds, moved the old offerings back to their place, and found a place for the abandoned tools.
"You, poor (y/n)!"
They looked up to find Ranboo, towering over them, "M'lord?"
"I have come with a warning. Since your betrayal of Eret, Puffy has been after you, and you have been in great danger. Still despite this, you've come to clear the temple that my followers have abandoned. Why is this?"
"No place should be abandoned as I have been." (y/n) answered softly.
He frowned, sighing, "Well, I value my alliances with Puffy to much to harbor you. But, I will not turn you in, nor alert her in anyway you were every here. Consider yourself blessed."
As he disappeared, (y/n) couldn't help but breath a sigh of relief. They hadn't been met with Puffy's wrath yet. But that did not stop their sorrow.
Wandering farther and farther away from both the valley, and their home, (y/n) came across another temple, taking a rest from the road to step inside.
At the alter, they prayed, "George, queen of Olympus, I beg of you to help me. I am but a mortal, plagued by sorrow, driven out of every place Aphrodite seeks me. I do not wish for my child to be born to this life. Oh, dear George I beg for your help!"
George, hearing these prayers, quietly appeared to them, "Poor dear. I cannot help you, no matter how much I wish too. Puffy's anger stretches far, and even I cannot shield you from it."
When he had disappeared, (y/n) was forced back out the wandering, wondering, if maybe they revealed themself to the goddess, they might receive some mercy.
After a long pondering they set out, and after journey, the found themself at the palace of Puffy. Upon turning themself into the servants, (y/n) found themself dragged before Puffy, who demanded to know what they were doing.
"So you have finally decided to pay me a visit? Or is this just a trick to see your husband, who sufferers from a wound given by your hand!"
It had been a long afternoon for (y/n), until at last the servants, and even Puffy herself, let off, and gave time for the bruises to fully form, as Puffy taunted them, "Such a plain and boring mortal, how could he have fallen for you? And even given you a child? What a pathetic thing it will be."
It didn't take much longer after that for Puffy to decide, "A challenge then, you look to be a maid, lets see how well of one you are. Then you might gain enough favor to see your husband." She called for bags of wheat, barley, beans, lentils and chickpeas to be spread and mixed on the floor, "Have all of this sorted, before the night, and you may win some favor."
And as she disappeared, (y/n) wept, it would be impossible for them to sort the pile, let alone by the time she returned. It had seemed so hopeless, until, droves of Ants, driven by pity made there way into the room.
"Fear not, we shall help you with this task."
Soon the grain was sorted, and the ants disappeared as Puffy returned, looking around incredulously, "This work mustn't be yours! Surely it isn't! You foul thing! This work is far from over!"
The next day, a new challenge was assigned.
"There is a field, a few miles from here, where golden sheep graze all day. Travel there and bring me back a tuft of wool from one by the time the sun sets, or give up on all hope of seeing your husband again." Puffy commanded.
Obediently, (y/n) set out, and as they crossed the river, a soft nymph whispered the secrets to gathering the wool from the dangeours animals.
Carefully, (y/n) waited until noon had passed, until the sheep had settled to one ide of the field, and crept out, gathering the soft tufts from the briars of the bushes.
Yet again, Puffy was surprised by their ability to comply and finish these challenges.
"Surely your husband had some hand in helping you finish this. Quickly mortal, while there is still light, take this, and fetch me the water from the upper most point of that mountain stream."
(y/n) took the pitcher, and slowly began to hike toward the mountain, dreading the dangerous climb ahead. The mountains slowly grew nearer, until (y/n) was forced to fully climb up and over rocks, and the potential fall could prove fatal.
They had paused for a rest, breathing heavy and staring up at the setting sun, there was no way they could make the trip to the top of the mountain and back before night fell.
Yet again, it all seemed helpless, until a kind eagle, indebted to Eret, swooped down, "Give me your jug child, and allow me to help."
When they returned to Puffy's castle, again they were met with surprise. No one had expected their return.
"You have done what I asked, and that makes me suspect you to be a witch. It will take a greater test to determine if you should see your husband again."
(y/n), barley held in a sigh, bowing their head.
"You will journey to the underworld, and meet Niki. She makes a beauty cream, I need you to get some for me. I've exhausted my supply."
(Y/n) began to shake, tears beginning to spill from their eyes, surely this task was impossible. No one could journey to the Underworld and make it back alive.
"Better get going." She scoffed, "And remember, not a single drop
They had no choice but to go.
It was a slow, painful journey, and it took much help, much advice to reach the underworld.
They called upon Niki, who greeted them kindly, and listened to their plight.
"I just wish to see my husband again, so I can explain myself, so I can apologize." (y/n) finished with a sigh.
Niki frowned, "That I cannot help with. But I can supply you with the beauty cream, to bring back to Puffy."
A box was filled and closed out of their view, before Niki presented it to them, with a warning, "The contents of this box, are not meant for mere mortals. It is highly dangerous for you to even look at it. You mustn't open this box, not for anything."
"I understand." They said, taking the box.
The journey back to the overworld seemed to pass quickly, but soon (y/n)s thoughts began to betray her.
Why would they carry this beauty cream if they were not able to take a drop for themself?
How were they suppose to confront their husband if they looked as ragged and hungry as they did now?
Slowly, the temptation took over, surely they would need this beauty cream more than the goddess of beauty.
As soon as the box was opened, they fell to the ground, nearly dead.
While they slept off their injuries, a great fight took place between the gods.
When they had at last awoken, they were greeted with the sight of their lovers face.
"Eret!" They gasped, "I'm sorry! I truly am! I don't know what I was thinking! Please forgive me! I love you!"
She smiled softly, "There is much we have to talk about my sweet."
It had been decided, that (y/n) would join the gods on Olympus, and remarry the god Eret.
Puffy would hurt them no more, and Eret, having heard what lengths they had gone too to get back to them, he couldn't keep them away.
AU where Nico dies (don't hate me pls I'm sorry I love Nico and ship the hell out of Solangelo, this is just to allow for some dark AUs) transporting the Athena Parthenos in BoO.
(Sorry it's such a long post) Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano, revered praetor and peace-loving daughter of Bellona, loses the ability to share strength. Now, when she uses her power, she saps your energy, draws on your bravery, and poisons your mind with horrific images. Nico's death has allowed suppressed traits to resurface and overwhelm all her progress since San Juan all those years ago. She picks fights. She becomes a dictator in all but name, abolishing the Senate and making War Games a lot more "realistic": weekly funerals become commonplace, words are spoken under breaths, and terror resides in the heart of every New Roman. And so, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano turns her brilliant mind and poisonous power to Gaea's aid. Gleeson Hedge doesn't seem more than a broken satyr at first glance, his smiles never sincere, his voice never loud, his bat never raised. But when he slips off into the wilderness, he does not sit quietly among the trees and reflect. He whispers into the trees' leaves, his twisted words echoing the bitterness that now consumes his being. He has been tricked too many times: Pan, forcing thousands of satyrs to lose their lives in their quest to find him when he was alive all along; Clarisse, who never tried to connect with nature or understand his own ties to the natural world, who teaches his child the game of death while Mellie watches, fading away, unable to fight back; the gods, who, in their promise of protection, conveniently ignored the nature spirits. He is bitterest about Nico's death: about all he could have done, about what the kid should have done. The glint in his eyes scares even the worst monster that Tartarus could send. But it is Gaea he turns his allegiance to. It is Gaea who promises that he will always be good enough for her. And so, Gleeson Hedge turns nature back to its true mother: Gaea. Hazel Levesque is not someone you want as an enemy. Her golden eyes, gold like the masks of the judges of the dead, seem to see everything. Her powers grow stronger, but now she is able to control them. One glance, and she can cause an entire legion to scream and writhe in agony as she manipulates the iron in their blood, twists their shining armour, forces weapons to turn on their handlers. She stops wearing normal, mortal clothes, and now she wears flowing dresses of molten gold and bronze that no spear could pierce nor hand touch. She calls on the remnants of metal in the cave in Resurrection Bay to rise, and rise they do, twisting and weaving together at her command to form a cathedral-like vault with a solid Stygian iron throne. At the front of her temple lies a chasm from which her first creation arises, complete and healed, at last. Alcyoneus clambers out of the pit, back with his mother's life and Hazel's burning desire for destruction. And so, after seventy years, Hazel Levesque joins forces with Gaea of her own free will. Frank Zhang's arrows are no longer aimed at Tartarus's monsters, but at the people he once considered friends. The ruins of the Zhang family mansion become a shrine to Gaea, the ancient walls falling in blissful happiness into the Earth Mother's embrace. Frank returns often with fresh skulls, unfailingly whole - his arrow pierces cleanly through the eye every time. His piece of firewood safe in Gaea's belly, protected where no flame could reach, he is unstoppable. His shapeshifting causes unforseen problems with the allies' plans, it's very hard to plan how to fight a lion when he could turn into a swarm of bees at any moment. He is the ultimate spy, a literal fly on the wall, and for once, he feels needed. He feels worth something. He feels as though he is good enough, something the gods could never give. All the gods ever did for Frank, he realises bitterly, is take. His mother. His grandmother. His self-confidence. His chance for a stable, loving family. Nico. And so, Frank Zhang finds a different kind of family, one that will not let him down, in Gaea. Piper McLean never wanted to be a tragic love story; that was purely for her mother's entertainment. She
cuts her hair short. She kills Gaea's enemies on sight. Her charmspeak forces even her old family, Camp Half-Blood, to turn against each other, brother against brother, sister against sister, until bodies litter the strawberry fields and the Big House crumbles to smouldering ashes. The gods have her no love. Their boundaries mean nothing to her any more. Her love extends to her favourite mother, her boyfriend, the rest of the Seven, Grover, Reyna and Hedge. Beyond that, it is poison. Gaea takes her hands, looks into her eyes, and tells Piper that she is more than the spawn of an unfaithful, air-headed immortal, more than the damsel in distress. She tells Piper that she is who she decides to be. And Piper agrees. Gaea gives her the opportunity to be out of others' shadows. Piper McLean takes the chance and joins with Gaea, her charmspeak almost her most dangerous feature, second only to her unbridled wrath when Nico's death is mentioned.
Jason Grace owes fealty to only one eternal goddess now. He scours the Underworld with Hazel and Frank, relentless like the wolves he was brought up with. He knows no bounds, his destruction barely controllable by even Piper and her charmspeak. He has obliterated entire cities, counties, even an entire nation. He feels no regret, no remorse, no nagging guilt. He seeks out and electrocutes homophobes as his powers grow in complexity, along with his ability to control them. No matter how much they scream, the same two words shoot from Jason's scarred lips like the lightning bolts he commands: for Nico. As the darkness inside him grows, the son of Jupiter advances on Olympus, eyes and hands blazing, to destroy his father, as one of Gaea's allies, as one of Gaea's found children. Jason Grace vows by Nico's soul and Gaea's love to destroy the gods who shamelessly abandoned them.
Percy Jackson has been close to the darkness before. As just one examole, he's controlled poison to choke the goddess of misery at the edge of Chaos. But now, Annabeth's words at the time - some things aren't meant to be controlled - strike differently. Percy doesn't follow rules any more. That brooding, troublemaking face now alludes to his new form: gone is the class clown, here is something more akin to a devil. Like Hazel, he has made hundreds of people and monsters shriek in pain as he controls their blood, contorting their bodies into unnatural forms and snapping necks with a mere snap of his fingers. If Nico's death is mentioned around the pair of them - Hazel and Percy - both turn on the individual, eyes smouldering with the deceitfully cool ashes of the fire of grief, and slowly unleash their wrath. Percy cannot be controlled. He wants revenge. Part of him wishes he had never given his mother the head of Medusa to kill Smelly Gabe; it tore him to pieces when he made the fluid in her head seep out of her eyes. But she wouldn't stop begging him to leave Gaea. She had to go. She was no longer loving him as he knew he deserved. Now, Percy Jackson takes his support from the mother he should have accepted long ago: Gaea.
Annabeth Chase did not accept powers from her new mother, her better mother. She chose to use her mind as her weapon and Gaea respected that. Gaea gave her the resources she needed to wreak havoc on mortals and immortals alike. Now, instead of studying for a stupid internship in a misogynistic, capitalist society, Annabeth unleashes her fury, her grief, her mind on the world. The gods deserve to pay for what happened to Nico. The demigods need to feel her grief. The mortals started this stupid cycle of overwork and inadequate pay. Annabeth is ready to work with the mother that respects her, that loves her, that nurtures her as she deserves. And work she does. Plan after plan is developed, improved, redrafted, mocked up, redeveloped, and finally executed with clinical precision. Her mind becomes what her enemies most fear, even above her reputation: first child of Athena in millennia to reach Arachne, retriever of the Athena Parthenos, survivor of Tartarus. And she laughs, laughs in a maniacal way that makes you want to take a step back as she strides towards you, grey eyes alight with an unnatural glint as you realise that she knows everything about you and she knows how this will end. She will not let herself or her friends die. She refuses to let another situation like Nico's death happen again. So, Annabeth Chase takes Gaea's resources and turns them into a mass genocide, executed with her new mother's blessing.
Grover Underwood leads the nature spirits now. He commands dryads to extend their unstoppable tendrils through the paths that Gaea forms for them, deep in the earth, then sending them exploding through the surface and reclaiming all that was torn from them under the pretence of friendship. His empathy link with Percy allows him some degree of control, both over the son of Poseidon and over naiads. Grover is betrayed and bitterly disappointed in Pan, in the gods, in demigods, in mortals, in Nico. And so, he turns nature back home with Gleeson Hedge. The hauntingly beautiful whistling of his pipes lures demigods, mortals, even gods to their doom. Apollo is the first to fall, trapped by the music of the satyr whose horns now make him seem diabolical as he dances in the flames. Grover Underwood finds his roots in Gaea and his revenge in destruction.
Leo Valdez wants to burn the world to ashes. There's not a moment he's not on fire, his hair smouldering, his skin aglow. At his feet lies Hera, trussed up like a rodeo calf, bound by the power of the guardian Leo knows he deserved as a child. There is no Piper with her charmspeak to free the ex-queen; at least, Piper is by Leo's side as he blasts her with his searing flames. There's a smile on Leo's face that rivals even Annabeth's as he torches cities, razes acres and lights up the sky with plumes of smoke and columns of fire. His reasoning feels etched into his heart: the gods let Nico die. The gods let us down one time too many. And so he lets the flames go. Gaea stands behind him, her hand on his shoulder, proud and respectful. She knows that he secretly enjoyed starting the war with New Rome. He has fire powers; it's only natural, and that Octavian is enough to drive anyone mad. So, Leo Valdez finally makes his peace with Gaea.
Will Solace goes out like a light as the news of his beloved's death is announced. He lies, broken and silent, in Gaea's arms, tears streaming down his face. He stirs only for Nico's name, and his eyes turn slowly to whoever dared say it. He reaches out an arm, eyes turning black, leaching all the colour from the surroundings as his whisper echoes: there is no hope. Behind him stands Gaea, a tear of her own on her earthen cheek. She feels his pain, raw and fresh. But she takes some of it onto herself. Will Solace shares his grief with Gaea now.
And so they stand, eyes alight and expressions dark and triumphant, by the side of the goddess who did not want to let Nico die.
Gaea smiles.
