To add a little more to that post about how peaches represent SWK and Mac's relationship:
In the mountain, Macaque is the one to crush the peach in his hand. He offered it to Sun Wukong, and when he didn't accept it and instead yelled at him, he destroyed it and threw it on the ground
In the end, it was Macaque who left first, not the other way around. Now, their broken relationship isn't completely his fault, but he did play a part on it
SWK screamed at him when he tried to mend their friendship, so instead of trying again, he left. That's what broke their relationship for good. Not Sun Wukong yelling, not Liu'er Mihou not looking for him, but Macaque leaving and (as far as we know) not coming back. La gota que colmó el vaso, we could say. Stuff had already been going on between those two. SWK never seemed to genuinely listen to Macaque and his promises of staying forever were empty (he never would've been able to stay in one place for so long) and Macaque never even bothered to communicate his negative feelings over this, so when he warned him he was ignored
Sun Wukong left again and again and again, looking for more power to "be strong enough to protect them", and eventually he lost sight of why he was doing it. But no matter how many times he left, he came back. Macaque didn't
#they both did what they wanted from the other#swk wanted mac to be able to leave when he wanted on the condition that he'd always come back#mac wanted swk to stay w him and be loyal to him the same way he was to swk forever#swk promised they'd stay there forever but even if he had tried he would've eventually broken that promise#the one time macaque left swk on his own he never returned#they both hurt each other so much#it wasn't a one-sided thing like so many ppl believe#“oh but swk left and killed macaque! he's a selfish shit!” “but macaque abandoned swk n hes technically the one at fault for everything!”#shut up#i'm not gonna say neither of them were at fault. cuz they both were#but it wasn't one-sided#now the difference between them is how they act about it. swk is trying to be a better person and to not repeat his past mistakes#macaque gets angry and torments mk (who is a child especially compared to him) for being close to swk#and tries to convince him that swk is a terrible mentor when in reality he's never hurt mk (yet. and even then it wasn't intentional)#most of mk's problems w swk come not only from the fact that swk sucks at communication but also from teh fact that everyone's+#talking shit abt him. they're saying swk sucks n make mk doubt him n himself when swk rlly is just trying his best#anyways i'll get more into that later#lmk#lego monkie kid#sun wukong#the six eared macaque#liu'er mihou#swk#the monkey king#shadowpeach#lmk season 4#peaches#avis talks#avis' post

sorry. even more thoughts from gumy. hey in the s3 finale there's a direct contrast between mk's "i'd never abandon her when she needs me! we're heroes, it's what we do!" vs mei's "that's the hard part of being a hero!" as she tries to burn wukong to a crisp. the different facets of being the Hero
the contrast between MK's "we're Heroes! it's what he do!" vs Mei's "that's the hard part of being a hero."
dam T^T
but yeah, let's dissect this a bit more :)
well, we (the audience) know that both Mei and MK think of themselves as heroes. we first meet Mei when she saves MK, and our first scene with MK is him idolizing how "heroic" the Monkey King is. even after getting the staff and being dubbed as Sun Wukong's successor, MK wants to help people (he does it first by deciding to bring the staff to SWK because, you know, he's never fought bad guys before). MK's heroic ideology is to "help everyone," "save everybody," "protect my friends and family from the evil™️" and "no man left behind" (except himself)
Mei's is very similar but different. "Protect friends and family from the evil™️," "save those who cannot save themselves," and "protect others from themselves." this is probably why she was able to reckon with the act of burning SWK to a crisp because it was risk she was willing to take. the needs of all trump the needs of one no matter how much it might hurt
but MK can't do that. he has been shown how much he cannot do that. all of his plans are ones that are meant to ensure everybody survives and lives to see another day. (see, MK having everyone fight Peng and Yellowtusk while he and SWK fight OP!Azure.) and if he is told that there is no other way than to sacrifice another or that it's possible someone is lost forever, MK will try to find another way. and so far, his method has worked (bc he's the MC and the narrative cannot work if MK fails but that's more of a technical behind the scenes outlook rather than "in-story" which is a whole other can of worms and is not at all a part of my point)
however, Mei is shown to be a bit more grounded and have a realistic view that sometimes...you have to face the fact that there is no other option. Wukong's scroll being sliced? there was a very high likelihood that the monkey king was lost forever. MK refused to see it, but Mei knew that the chances of them even bring him back were super, super slim. Mei "understood the risks" so to speak that happy endings are not guaranteed. that the world is more gray than it is black & white.
in a way, both of their ideologies complement each other. it's why they are such a good pair as friends and when fighting together.
Tumblr media
ignoring my urge to sob, fucking look at these two T^T and doing some quick research on the web, yellow and green are said to be the colors of hope. both colors have mostly positive meanings, so put together simply adds to their individual hopeful vibes and doubles it, basically (idk color theory this is my interpretation of what i read and how i can apply it to MK and Mei)
they may not be complementary but they do compliment each other in that yellow brightens the room and provides a soft light while the green can provide a bit of that grounded darker tones and make a room more fixed. (wtf am i saying, why does this make sense to me, how am i mixing home decor with-)
so yeah, while the colors are different facets of hope, MK and Mei are also different facets of what it means to be a hero (selfless, compassionate, self-sacrificial, loyal, willing to do the impossible vs willing to do what's necessary for all) and i am now very emotional about them T^T

Just got super attached to the Of Gold, Silver and Jade au, and it has spawned questions! 1st, how old does everyone think Cheung is? We know MK and Mei are besties around the same age, but did Wukong present his human form as being closer to Pigsy and Tangs age but still end up best friends with this 20 something? Or do they think he's closer to MKs age if perhaps older enough to warrant calling him "kid" at times? Or maybe not and he has to be careful to act like he's the centuries older being he actually is when he's being his monkey mentor. Also does this mean that Cheung is the one who was dragging MK out at night to party to cause the clone incident??
2nd, if Cheungs clone got popped in Shadow Play, does that mean the noodle crew think he's just vanished? It would have been The Monkey King returning in the season finale, and only then would he discover that his clone hadn't been around for a while and everyone's worried. Possibly also questioning how littleghey actually know about this person seeing as he wouldn't have ever been able to give them an address or anything, not a real one at any rate.
3rd, if SWK didn't know that Mei was the descendant of Ao Lie and therefore the container for the last ring, what reason would he have to hide that they would need to hunt down that last ring from the others? Because now I'm wondering how differently things could have turned out if he hadn't known how close to home it would end up and so he told them that stage of the plan from the start and THEN they met Ao Guang and he realised how this would end up, and so did everybody else. What would happen if everyone had the whole hunt for the 3 rings to try and figure out how to feel about this? What to do about it?
Cheung is supposed to be between 25 and 30 years old. He's vague on his age on purpose so he doesn't have to remember that
When the hair clone was destroyed, Macaque told MK that his friend was not what he seemed and left it at that with no explanation. So yes, everyone thinks he just vanished until Macaque attacks MK, Mei and Sandy
Wukong didn't tell them about the fourth ring because, even if he didn't know who Mei was at the time, he still knew the ring had to be in someone, it's just made worst after their visit to Ao Guang

SUN WUKONG X READER X MACAQUE
Lego Monkie Kid
Context: Some headcanons for above ask, the animatronics (animals) do tend to get a bit quirky at night- HA joking but seriously, there will always be some tension between these do and you've got your hands full
TW: None. Pure fluff bois
‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹
Both are in love with you - and won't admit it, but at this point have gotten over their hatred for each other. Of course, there's still the harsh glare and snarky comment, but it's working so far.
We don't talk about how it happened. You were with Macaque first, but then something happened with Sun Wukong along the way
You sat down with Macaque, making sure he was comfortable with it. You just want both to feel safe in this relationship
Macaque agreed in the end - if a safe word is put in place. The idea is understandable and acted upon immediately, so three of you sat down, talked it out, and now, here we are.
Present day bois-
If they're in a good mood, Sun Wukong and Macaque will make breakfast together. Sometimes they'll ask you if you'd like to join, and other times you'll peek into the kitchen to see them cooking the biggest breakfast you've ever seen. And you don't miss their fluffy tails brushing every so often.
Ever since getting together, Sun Wukong and Macaque have made it a goal to work out their differences so there's no insecurities between them to make the relationship turn to hell.
They do this for you, honestly.
Macaque struggles with this the most. Whenever he catches you and Sun Wukong having a moment, he'll accept it, but it will make him upset a tad.
Honestly, he's such a touched starved boi it's no surprise he'd be frowning all day.
You and Wukong then devise a plan to cheer your partner up. This could include various activities like training (angry monkey boi likes training), chilling, or just plain cuddles.
He won't ever refuse these. He loves you guys too much.
Yes, he and Sun Wukong get over their differences soon enough, allowing for less stress and tension, and more peace and FUN.
Will take turns entertaining the other in their indulgences, and Wukong has some weird ones.
Whatever. He's a fluffy dude and you can't deny him.
Whenever Wukong would go off to do his weird things or go chase ducks, it would give you some time to walk in silence with Macaque. He likes it when you slip your arm through his, tail swaying behind him in a relaxed fashion.
Ever since the relationship became poly, it's weird but Macaque's a lot better.
Perhaps overcoming his hurdles with Wukong helped him tone it down, and give strangers a rare smile.
You + Wukong = troublemakers
Honestly, that's only 'cause he's a goofball and you get dragged (willingly) into everything he does.
Macaque is the parent who cares but doesn't care.
Not until you get hurt, of course.
Hell, this even goes for Wukong. Sure the dude is immortal but Macaque would growl out if the Monkey King is all right before telling him off.
Both of them love your laugh.
Macaque's a night owl, would prefer staying up late with you watching movies. Wukong tries to stay up, head in your lap as his eyes drift closed. He never makes it, but he's a trooper for sticking out for as long as he does. You and Macaque always smile fondly at his peaceful expression.
Wukong is a morning bird. Will wake both of you up super early either to go walking, watch the sunrise, go bother people, or make breakfast.
Most of the time Macaque would grunt out his refusal
Would definitely try to drag the high and mighty monkey beast back into bed
Oh, yes, you guys share a bed. Macaque is touched starved and Wukong loves cuddles (also touched starved, being immortal), but you've got a big mattress and can't complain.
Will wake up at 2am sometimes to see the two of them close together. Their tails are the only things touching
but it's sweet. They're wrapped around the other, fluffy tendrils soft and warm.
Whenever that happens, you creep out of bed to make them breakfast.
They love it when you try your best. They love watching that determined look on your face.
Yes, there will be arguments, but they're always resolved. Always. Wukong might not want to discuss the topic, but you and Macaque are well aware that if it's not fixed, tension will arise. And eventually Wukong comes around.
Macaque's pretty much the same way when he's on the defensive.
Both realize that problems are meant to be solved.
They adore your moments of insight
Are always willing to try new things in the poly relationship as long as they're comfortable with it. Wukong's never afraid to offer new ideas/activities, but Macaque's more on the reclusive side. Won't offer suggestions unless you specifically ask him.
Wukong is tallest
Will DEFINITELY brag about it and be a huge tease. Macaque hates it but you bet he likes the attention.
Wukong finds it cute
PROTECTIVE FLUFFY BOIS WARNING
omigawd these two dorks would destroy the world if it meant you'd be safe.
You're too precious, too valuable, and if someone made your day difficult at your work/while shopping, the two would team up, and gang up on whoever caused you to be upset.
Like, in the end you're faced with a puffy-eyed stranger apologizing on their knees
But Wukong and Macaque look so damn proud of themselves (they even fist bump while grinning wickedly as their victim scampers off), you can't stay mad at them.
In fact, whenever they do something to hurt you, they won't notice unless you show your pain externally. Macaque is the more emotionally intelligent, but both will stop and stare if you start crying at something they said. It might've been a joke, might not have been, who knows. Next thing you know they're both either cupping your face gently or sitting you down on the couch and asking what's wrong.
Always listen when you vent. Wukong will provide a few commentary but besides that, will remain silent.
These two, incredibly strong monkey demons will sacrifice their time and effort to see you smile
what more could you ask for?

Hello there
Im droppin in you ask box to ask questions about Hanahaki wukong au and some ideas that i had
So does it afect his powers and mayby his behavior or do they stay the same? Or like each time they incounter macaque does it start hurting more or less? Also how do others react to wukong having hanahaki? Will they know why?
And the idea so i myself have this hc that the reason swk left macaque was some what of similar to why he left after mei got the fire and left like maybe at one of the fights the two were at macaque ends up geting badly hurt and wukong realises that macaque could have died just bc he wamted to protect him and then tells macaque that its better if they split up so that mac wouldn't get hurt . But macaque didn't see it as an act of consern and thout wukong thinks that he is weak and then they start fighting at some point the fight becomes physical and then swk almost kills him but then realises what hes doing and steps back and just leaves leaveing macaque to think that wukong lookes down on him and stuff. If you want you can use it
I just for some reason live the idea and want to see how you go with it.
Okay, to start off, thank you so much for reaching out with this ask!!! I am so excited to have people ask me stuff :D!!!
Now, back to business. When I was thinking about this concept I didn't really think much about Wukong himself would change on the surface. Kind of the only difference attitude wise that I was thinking would him being a little more subdued and a little quieter.
Not alarmingly so, just a smidgen. His power would basically be unaffected by it unless he's around Mac, because then it gets harder to suppress the coughing and plants taking root in his lungs.
Basically, if he's around Mac for long periods of time, or kind of lingering on his feelings for him, then his magic has to work harder to try and suppress the hanahaki, making him get drained easier. Again, no drastic differences, but subtle stuff.
You know I gotta keep it subtle to build up to that big dramatic reveal 😂.
As for others, I gotta do a little deep dive into my brain to explain the vibe for this. For this au, I feel like Wukong wouldn't immediately realize that he has hanahaki. Like he legit went like 200 years or something occasionally hacking up flower petals whenever he though of Mac and just kind of went with it/ignored it.
Aaayyyyy, procrastination king
He probably didn't even notice it for a while since his magic was subconsciously full body tackling it. I lowkey feel like he wouldn't really realize what's wrong with him until MK first meets Mac. He sensed his essence or whatever the fuck they do and the hanahaki flared up for the first time in like a century.
After MK left he probably collapsed in a heap as coughs ripped through his throat dragging a fist full of bloody flower petals up his throat. Leaving him confused, scared, and a smidgen concerned.
At that moment he realizes what he has and immediately starts doing everything he can to hide it from everyone. So others probably wouldn't even know. At least not until SWK gets body snatched by LBD. She would probably use it to try and gain leverage in a fight.
Most of the gang would be confused as to what hanahaki is, except Mac and Tang. They know and are very concerned. Mac is very confused because, wtf do you mean SWK has a deadly disease for unrequited love??? How?? When did he fall in lo- IT'S FOR ME?????
Like I said. Dramatic reveals. Ooooooh, but what if no one but Mac knew what it waaassss. If that were the case, then the team would be confused and concerned but probably forget about it during the fight.
I'll have to think more about the reveal and reactions.
Your headcanon is beautiful 😍 That is a very Wukong thing to do. He would spend so long feeling so bad and making it worse by pushing Mac away 🥲 I'm pretty sure that's what actually happened between them. Just some big dumb misunderstanding because they are bad at feelings.
Sorry for the really long response, I get very excited when people ask me stuff
