i agree that the podcast really is so interesting — and imo it's a lot of plain gossip and tv criticism masked as "professional insight", which i live for lmao — but there are times she is really too much... she often mocks or eye-rolls things in a way that, again, doesn't feel constructive and comes off as very rude. mean girl energy. it also bothers me how she will talk at richard instead of engaging in a back and forth, and sometimes that turns into an episode in which she speaks 80% of the time. then again, as content cycles throughout the year, sometimes what's on/hot atm is just more in her wheelhouse than his, so we just have to wait for new taskmaster, new bbc comedies, new doctor who, whatever interests him, and then hopefully he'll have even more opportunities to shine... i do cherish when he gets a chance to speak lmao

but fr take a shot every time she says "a friend of mine who works at _______ told me blah blah"

i'll work on tracking that down!! it would be fun to watch more of them 😋

you know how once you notice an actor then suddenly you start to see them everywhere? (especially on uk tv which is not as big a pool as you'd think it would be...) that was me and charlotte ritchie! it was like wow this girl is everywhere!

anyways, i'm not sure what her aims are atm... she's done quite a bit of comedy but am i the only one who thinks she would body a crime series? or something like broadchurch?

glad you got a chance to catch my response and watch some fun things! i was thinking a little more about what else to recommend, and i think if you enjoy the quirky nature of repertoire then you should check out huge davies, and if you enjoy the storytelling format like greg davies typically does then you should try out dara ó briain and russell howard (maybe the 2021 lubricant special to start) :) enjoy!!

hahaha this is funny... it's a good question 😅 there are a few reasons... he's good bantz! he doesn't take himself too seriously, laughs at himself, can be teased, isn't mean spirited. people really appreciate that. plus, he represents a lot of people who aren't otherwise on tv — not primetime bbc, at least. there starts to be an issue when he just...doesn't try, doesn't contribute. he's fallen asleep on like three different shows? didn't he just...not show up to the second-half of his bakeoff special? often he's got nothing to say? mo really carried the convos on his talk show, his teammates carried him on bfq, and so on. he just doesn't seem to have the interest or perhaps the stamina (orrr perhaps the respect) for long records 😅

anyways, he was being pushed for a little while, but that appears to have stopped. he's hasn't been around too much lately 🤔 (tho ngl idk what he's up to!)

yesss this is a great video and i'll link it here in case anyone wants to check it out! it reminded me that i really need to seek out his celeb hunted episodes hahaha

when the news came out he would be playing an 'egon spengler type' i was like yep lmao

he and ed mention quite often how many auditions they go to, especially james, for big movies like wonka and ghostbusters — no surprise to me imo! especially since it seems he's focused on films over tv 🤔

I will also acknowledge Greg and Tom are doing things together, they are clearly scheming and plotting and frankly circling the bowl together, so it's not like nothing is going on with them. they are attempting to make moves (tho idk where they're going with it. Lmao.)

and, I don't agree that Tom seems overly annoyed by Greg or no more than usual. but it's simply not as funny or engaging as it used to be. Previously the intrigue with them was wondering if a scene would become insane out of nowhere, but now they just. talk. The crying phonecall in 4.3 was a nice moment and it was funny in 4.4 when Greg fumbled the roast so badly but this episode was really slim pickings, esp for Greg.

Tom's scenes with Shiv are fantastic to me, they always have been, but Greg's scenes with the sibs are just okay- there's no way they actually include him so it's just like. Okay. It might be better if they at least played off him- i could see a universe where Roman and Shiv string him along and fuck around with him, but they generally don't do that. If they had more time, it might be interesting but it's not like they're taking him for a ride this far into it.

I think another thing is, Tom and Greg are relatively safe... like everyone is worried about losing their jobs in the deal, but in the grand scheme of things, so fucking what? With the kids, being ousted from the company has an emotional impact. Tom and Greg were most interesting when they had more precarious positions and especially when they had the threats of jail and DOJ on them. I don't care much if Greg or Tom loses a job. Greg is almost too unimportant to fire, and Tom is a total cockroach in my interpretation of him, he'll be fine, inevitably he'd, like, find another job and a new wife and move on. Tom's scenes with Shiv at least have the effect of raising the emotional sword of damocles over his head because you know he cares about her.

I know Greg is a side character and Tom is in the supporting-main cast (as someone pointed out, he is pretty prominent in the marketing, not that I pay toooo much attention to that but it is a factor) but I can favor some plots and characters even if they're not a protagonist, and when a show is excellent you want it to be ALL good not just the A plot.

Lastly. Their plotline is NOT my only issue with the past couple episodes anyway. The most compelling kid is Roman right now, and while i liked Shiv's girlbossing, something with alllll of it just a bit... off... the pace is kinda funky feeling. we were all so hype and devastated about Logan's death and the placement in the season, but it seems like it might have taken the wind out of their sails a bit?

I withhold ultimate judgment until ep 10. Until then i will discuss stuff and hope for the best

-she (especially in the main series) constantly neglected Steven because she liked Rose (who died 13 years before the series began and who was also in a relationship with Greg for some years before that)

-this includes leaving him dangling off the edge of a floating island thing that one time (he was 14)

-shes packaged as a good person and the only callout to her faults is ONE WORD BY WHITE DIAMOND (which only mentions how she was obsessed with Rose)

-she constantly makes him feel like he should be Rose and takes her emotions about Rose's death on him (idk how to phrase it but she acts mad at Steven for Rose's death sometimes despite it not being his fault)

-she apologizes to him once at the end of SU: Future for all her mistakes and somehow that's enough

-WARP TOUR. THE ENTIRE EPISODE. OMG. why was she so obsessed with being better than a literal 13 year old

you already know i came from tiktok😏

1. so i’m sensing that Edin is going to be Adie’s future love interest/friend/enemy/?… I MEANN they’re both toddlers currently and they’re both supernatural

2. I know you mentioned before that you wanted to do like a magic school type of story for Adie which I think is so fucking cool!! Maybe they’ll meet when they enroll whether that’s as children or teens.

3. And for miss Ellie she’s currently a human right? Will she become a werewolf like her siblings when she becomes old enough? And if she does will she be going to that school as well or is it just for spellcasters? And is that the same for Rhys who’s currently a child or is he going to just stay in normal school? I assume Amir is too old to go and he already has a story of his own.

4. This one may be a stretch but I love reading the Sims 4 lore. There’s a character with a similar name to Adelina— Avelina who was Greg’s late wife. We’ve seen Greg fight Amir in that one episode and we know that Greg is miserable because he’s all alone now (lore wise). If they are related we know that Greg and Avelina used to be mooncasters (idk if it’s the same as spellcasters) before they became werewolves. Is there any link here or am I tripping? I mean I know you read the lore too because Lux DeMarco appears in Amir’s story (😉)

5. off topic but I love Amir. Like that’s my son with his little boyfriends. 💙💙 You got 2 men obsessed with you I know he’s living life.

6. L. Faba is obviously up to no good.. I mean she is the sage of mischief magic. This ties into my first statement about the magic school story. We know there’s going to be more to the plot then Adie just going to school. She’s gotta fight someone and save the day right??!!!! So I wondering if Miss Faba is trying to cause something to happen— I assume to Tomax because she was deadset on trying to make the man practice Dark Magic.

What if something happens to him that makes him evil?? Or even do something to Simeon or Grace?? We know in the lore Grace and Tomax are roommates (and they were roommates..🤭) and in your story they’re very close.

I did want to do a magic school type beat but that was a bit before I expanded the lore. Right now (In the next update, I'll touch on it a bit) Nora does NOT want Adie in the Magic realm or any of the sages to know about them. at all. She wants nothing to do with them, the past, her involvement in the war, all of it and honestly, her little magical trigger finger is itching to finish what she started tbh , more on that later.

1000% Ellie will be a werewolf. At this point it's kinda like a family business/rite of passage. Amir is grown grown now 🥹 but Sonny and his bunch will continue to hold down their ranch and keep vampires in check. But they actually play a pretty big part in what's to come and when my Briar legacy and Fallen Angel series meet, we will see ALOT of them.

No link. The only link werewolves has is that they are descendants of Mooncasters and once upon a time they lived in the Magic Realm with all the occult before the Spellcasters got all high and mighty. Now werewolves just do their own thing and fight vampires. But I really don't see them having much involvement with Spellcaster drama other than possibly whooping vamp ass when needed.

I love those boys. Other than my OGs Honey and Amina, def my favorite couple(s) 🥹

L. Faba really about to put Tomax in a world of hurt...which is crazy because he's really already emotionally and mentally in shambles. I suppose that's why she picked him. He's the weakest. This update should be out in a little bit

I saw that they were roommates which made me go hmmmmm 🤔 interesting 🧐 and exactly why we'll see them roll around in the hay from time to time. But from my most recent update, I expand on Grace's ability to heal a little and really she's all about making people feel better via touch...so maybe there’s romance involved maybe she’s trying to help out an old friend because therapy doesn’t exist in the Magic Realm ig lmao 😵‍💫

If you really want to ask hard-hitting questions about the Live-Action's production, you should try to schedule an episode of the One Piece Podcast with you and Greg.

Granted, it might be good to do proper research beforehand and actually watch the rest of the show first (assuming you haven't, last I remember, you'd only seen episode 1).

Anon I can't do that because you and I both know I am very biased against it, it wouldn't be a fair interview for anyone. The interviewer definitely needs to be a middle man who is lukewarm on the live action, otherwise it's not an interview it's an attack lmao. And if it goes the other way then it's not an interview, it's just a praise event.

I have nothing against anyone involved I just know I would be very passionate and therefore aggressive in my questioning of things and no one wants to be in an interview or listen to an interview like that lmao. That and I don't think I'm good at interviewing in general.

Although the only damn question at this point I want answered is why the hell Sanji's eyebrows were removed literally no one has asked nor answered that yet LMAO

Analyzing the Roman/Gerri crumbs in episode 4 and why i’m hopeful

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 EP 3 DONT READ IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP

1. we have to remind ourselves: this episode, the funeral, occurs the next day. it’s barely been 24 hours since their conversation. and less than that since logan’s death. i was kind of surprised the funeral was the literal next day. it made sense roman & gerri didn’t have a full scene because there was so much going on that was a priority. plus both of their wounds are still fresh and everyone was around and so much was happening. writing wise it made sense why it didn’t happen

2. i think their scene will be next episode. although mattson wanted them to fly out the next day, (the conversation with the kids)i doubt they will go then. There may be some lulls while on the trip where they can fight it out lol

3. Gerri and roman making comments about greg. after roman’s first joke to greg, gerri chuckles. he then continues to make another joke and then after greg responds gerri makes a jab at greg as well. this matters because this is the first time we have seen her laugh and smile around roman in MONTHS. (besides her little thank u in ep 3) i mean they weren’t even in the same rooms the first two episodes and before that was italy and we all know how that went. there still is something there (less factual more hopeful here lol)

5. without logan looming roman seems far more confident and self assured i could see their dynamic evolving from mentor/mentee to actual partners which could also make it easier for the romance too

6. he’s lying about how it’s over with gerri. he could have said something way worse about her to his siblings when they asked if he was still pulling for her. he also would not look at kendall. roman is a pretty good liar but he never ever looks them in the eye when he lies. maybe because he is worried they will call his bluff but it happens a lot

7. although it hurt when roman brought up gerri souring on logan i noticed a few things in this. he didn’t look at her when he said it only when she responded, he was confident enough to disagree with her, and he didn’t push it about her firing being in writing (he could have) i think she will have more respect for him because he said exactly what karl did and he isn’t just going to be her little yes man anymore.

8. Kendall went behind roman’s back and said to move forward smearing dad. His first move is to go against roman’s wishes & hurt their dad. Even tho logan is gone, roman’s abuse ran deep and he always justified the abuse because deep down he desperately loved him and wanted to be loved by him. I think kendall smearing their father will make him reconsider his alliances and maybe go back to gerri. i don’t see how he could let it go because in the end roman always chose his dad over everyone.

overall i’m hopeful that we will see some of their old dynamic back and maybe it evolve into something real. either that or i riot lmao

yo, why does it feel like db russel hates sara? he's always so rude to her

Hey! I don't get that vibe, but depending on when we're talking about, early s12 DB is... kinda out there personality wise. I feel like they quickly reign in a lot of the sterner stuff (lecturing Nick about paperwork, screaming at Greg, having poor Henry admit to being afraid of him lmao). The only episode that immediately comes to my mind where he's particularly hard on Sara is 12x03 "Bittersweet", but even that ends with him checking in to make sure she's okay.

I like the scene they share in 12x21 "Dune and Gloom" where they reminisce about troubled family members, and don't think that would have happened if either of them disliked the other. There's every chance there are things I'm forgetting (haven't re-watched most of s14-15 since it aired), but for the most part I think they're good :3

bananadumbledore: When @zzzendica and I saw they did a revival we jumped right on that lmao it's still so goofy but it still feels like the classic show. Also who are your top suspects 👀

i was SO excited for the revival, and then they just dropped like the entire season in 2 weeks which kinda bugs me lol, which is why i'm catching up late lmao

ok spoilers up until the last two episodes obviously

they're down to the final four and currently I think it's Kesi tho it could also be Will? I was certain it was either Kesi, Sandy, or Jacob until Sandy left and then I was certain it was Jacob and then they spent the whole episode before he left trying to increase our suspicion on him, so

The people who I thought were trying too hard to LOOK like the Mole are Joi, Greg, Avori, and I think Will? Except looking back, Will not so much, it was just him 'stealing' the cargo in the first episode that made me decide it couldn't be him—but now I'm realizing he's done a great job of evading suspicion since then, and that could have been a play to gain everyones trust?

I've actually been flip flopping a lot on Will but now I actively don't like him and really hope he at least doesn't win oops. He has too much alpha-dog energy, 'im always right and everyone is stupid for not listening to me', and every time he messes up he manages to shift the blame onto someone else. if he's not the Mole then he's at least kind of a pushy egotist

I knew it wasn't Greg and was kinda OK with him going home (he had too much cocky business major energy lmao). Jacob I was sure of because he seemed so genuine and kept screwing up, it had to be an act... and then it wasn't oops

Avori's whole 'im gonna intentionally look like the Mole here' thing seems too obvious and intentional for it to be her, but maybe that's what the editors want me to think? I won't be too shocked if it DOES turn out to be her, you'd think a pro-gamer would be better at puzzlesolving

If Joi turns out to either win or be the Mole I will be happy actually, she kind of went the opposite direction as Will where I didn't really like her at first, but in the last few episodes I realized she's doing that on purpose? and she's still in the game, which says to me she's either the Mole, or way smarter and more calculated about what she's doing than she wants anyone to think. she basically perfectly set herself up to be the least-liked person this whole season, and I'm pretty sure more than one person has gone home voting for her. and if she IS the Mole then she's done a great job of causing a lot of damage ($25k!?? really?!!) while throwing shade elsewhere

then Kesi... I think it's her mostly because I haven't had much reason to pay attention to her for most of the season. the only things I actually remember her doing are big 'oops I didnt notice' screwups in the last few episodes (not noticing the boat during that plane flyover when the editors were focusing on Avori not noticing the boat, not reading out the names in the gold lockboxes, all of the 'those pigeons arent flying in a circle, im confidant this is the pigeon we're looking for' stuff). i think she's done a good job staying out of everyones radars and now that its down to the wire she's really playing into the 'im stressed and tired and just missing things' thing. if it's not her... i'mma feel bad for this stressed out girl lol

Been think about the Tom for CEO theory which I both love and hate and I do think there is a possibility of it happening but even though Logan making Tom acting CEO would be very entertaining when it first happens and would make sense for Toms arc this season (It would mean that offering himself up for sacrifice for the Roys, plot line, would actually go somewhere now that Tom seemingly isn’t going to prison). As well as Shiv’s arc (getting shafted in favour of her husband, who lbr she sees a useless, when she was the one who saved the company at the shareholder meeting, and yet still couldn’t get Logan’s approval, because it practically impossible for any of the siblings to stay in daddy’s good books because he is an abusive nacisist. But Logan hasn’t got the same hang ups about Tom that he does about his kids because he sees him as less of threat and easier to control)

But Tomgirls, Tom being ceo would not be good thing for him in the long run, not only would it obviously make his relationship with shiv even more toxic but if they go with the whole Tom CEO plot line then he’ll obviously have a dramatic downfall and there is no way that downfall won’t involve Greg. Whether Tom has romantic feelings for Greg or the show decides to go with plantonic brotherly?? (Lmao) feelings, it is absolutely undeniable at this point that Tom cares A LOT about Greg so if Tom becomes CEO there is literally 0% chance that Greg won’t betray him, that’s just how the show works. Tom being betrayed by Greg after he inevitably promotes him to a high up position to make him his right hand man or something and trusting him completely only to be betrayed by him, would show Tom not listening to his own advice that he gave to Greg in the boar on the floor episode “trust no one” and the writers won’t be able to resist doing that to him.

holy shit guys. im so glad i avoided spoilers that was INSANE. oh my god. but yeah toms really been stoking the long game all season hasn’t he huh. and i was thinking somthing might be up when Logan called him “son” during the bathroom scene (so like. seven hours ago - see my previous post for details) but i guess i forgot a little? but honestly this is just tom and greg’s world and we’re just living in it.

fuck yeah. hopefully we get some solid roman + shiv + kendall sibling bonding next season, and even continue tradition of having a wedding for the finale? Willa and Connor maybe? (actually willa leaves at the alter and then tomgreg get married instead). I was kinda disapointed by the lack of romangerri but looking back Gerri has been very heavy on the plausible deniability and the limited involvement, and most of their scenes have leaned towards Roman POV so that may have clouded things a little. but honestly that final moment between them was absolutely heartbreaking. gah. now i have roman feels. specifically roman abandoned by all else in the world feels. honestly next season i want it all:

Steven Universe: Future

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately.

OPINIONS under the jump.

So it took me about eighteen or so months to realise this, but I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I don’t really like how SUF was handled.

I like episodes of SUF on their own; Bismuth Casual, Why So Blue, Guidance, the Pearl one (I forgot it’s name lmao), etc, etc, etc, but as a whole, I just feel like the way the arc is handled is... not the best?

I feel like I’m stepping on eggshells.

So there’s this TV Tropes page called ‘Diabolous ex Machina.’ To quote directly from the page, it’s ‘the introduction of an unexpected new event, character, ability, or object designed to ensure that things suddenly get much worse for the protagonists, much better for the villains, or both.‘ And a lot of SUF feels like it’s specifically designed to break Steven in a way that comes off a little contrived. Like, there’s nothing wrong with Lars deciding to go back to space, or Sadie’s band breaking up, or all the Cool Kids leaving town in one way or another; but it all happening on basically the same day is where it gets a little... yeah. And having the episode where Greg comes back to help Steven immediately followed by Mr. Universe, with basically no time for Steven and Greg to actually chill a bit, is also a bit contrived.

There’s also the fact that we never see Steven’s recovery after IAMM also grates at me. It sort of grants credence to the idea that SUF is kind of misery porn.

Now, a lot of this is probably because CN only gave the crew twenty episodes, but I still think it’s a legitimate criticism. (And we couldn’t get any Steven recovery episodes but we could have A Very Special Episode? I like AVSE but still.)

And a lot of the season relies on everyone in Steven’s support circle (with the exception of Connie) basically completely failing him; the gems failing to follow up on his mental state after the cactus incident, Greg completely failing to read the room when Steven’s angry in Mr. Universe, Peridot promising to stay with him and then disappearing off the face of the Earth until Everything’s Fine, so on, so on). Basically, if all you watched of SU was this, you’d be forgiven for thinking Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl were antagonists. The plot also kind of relies on Steven being an idiot at key moments; yes, Steven’s a romantic, but he’s not catastrophically stupid enough to propose to Connie (and I’ve said before that that episode makes Garnet look like a complete dick. Like, there’s no interpretation of Together Forever that doesn’t make Garnet look like a total douchecanoe.)

And then there’s Jasper.

Jasper is one of the best characters in the season, and in the end she was basically just a plot point to further Steven’s angst slide. She didn’t even really get a resolution. Her whole arc is just there to make Steven a murderer feel sad. It’s kind of a waste.

So yeah, I don’t really like SUF as a whole. And I’m okay with that.

Does this mean I think Rebecca Sugar is a hack? No, of course not! Just because I like a creator doesn’t mean I have to like everything they make. You want to see a real hack, look at Butch Hartman.

Does this mean I’m leaving the fandom? No, of course not, I love this world, warts and all. I can’t write Connverse in Amphibia.

I guess I’m just writing this to say I didn’t like the SUF ending, and that’s okay. And I took so long to tell myself that because I was scared of being less of a fan because of it, or being told I’m wrong. But now I care less about those sorts of things. I like things the way I like them.

Bismuth Casual still slaps though. Such a good episode.

I throughly enjoyed the new taskmaster episode, maybe it's because of the lack of enthusiasm in the dark void of my current life, maybe because it is good indeed, or even both who knows? I like all the contestants so far, especially my beloved Alan, and I think the series is going to be a good one

let's talk about it!!!

i'm really optimistic about the series based on the first episode! i'll start off with some actual observations and slowly derail into just...all of my thoughts, probably:

victoria coren mitchell

the contestants have a bit of an older average age, interestingly! if you think back to some of the 40-something+ contestants (richard osman, bob, mel, hugh, noel, rhod, mark watson, liza, etc.), they all 1) didn't try too hard and sacrifice comedy in the meantime, and 2) had great, comfortable rapports with greg. their seniority in the industry gives them the confidence to dick about, challenge greg, question the format, flub on purpose or cheat and get away with it — and all without trying too hard. plus, a lot of these comedians know greg and alex from being in the same business for a while. so i've alwaaays loved the more mature contestants, and this season the youngest is 35! i'm so excited about that!! you can tell from the first episode alone they're mostly gonna laugh at themselves, which i love??

on the whole, the tasks weren't overly complicated — BLESS

is there a studio audience or did the editing team just NAIL the laugh track? IT'S SO MUCH BETTER WITH LAUGHS. the dry echoes of s10 (which i just rewatched) fucking scarred me oml i'm so happy with this

i think desiree dressed a little flamboyantly for the recorded tasks, but i'm actually so happy no one wore a totally ridiculous outfit for the duration of the series. it's kind of an worn gag at this point (kudos to the first contestant or two to do it, and phil wang's cock which i'll probably never forget). victoria's outfit? the long skirt with the boots and her lil gloves? so cute ogdkjfghflkdhzk

not to call victoria out but did we not all predict exactly how she was going to be? mocking/question the tasks while also being the most competitive one there? the way MORE THAN ONCE she didn't even digest all of the information on the card to do the tasks correctly yet clearly cared enough to feel a little demoralised at botching them... so victoria. WHICH WAS VERY CUTE ;_:

why is alan already so tired omg LMAO let my man take a nap and get a bonus point for no reason, he's already been through enough IN LIFE!!! also unrelated but his skin is beautiful

guz is the only contestant i wasn't really familiar with before the series but he's already...so funny. i'm CACKLING when he breaks out the pure pakistani accent and his comedic beats are gold. can't yet decide if he's an affable weirdo (à la paul chowdhry) or a lowkey nutcase (mel giedroyc) but i cannot WAIT to find out

guz's fit in the studio was sick. i also love that alan's look was exactly hugh dennis', sean lock's...just. that classic 50yo button-down and kicks. which warms my heart for some reason

greg has had quite a few crushes throughout the series, i'd gander morgana is next on his list but i won't be surprised if it ends up being guz... the absolute slut that man is smh

not to put pressure on myself to make a gifset but to the people who requested it i clocked many alex breaking character moments and they have been DULY noted.......

do you want to hear how fucking delusional i am... i have been contemplating getting a second ear piercing for a couple of years and when i saw victoria laying on the car creeper and clocked her second hole i was like "okay i need to do it"
