“The milk is sour
I've barely been to college
And I've been doubtful
Of all that I have dreamed of
The brink of my existence essentially is a comedy”

Rek knew that keeping and maintaining a garden was pointless. He knew that it could get destroyed at any minute. He knew that it was temporary, that he was temporary.
It was just something about the feeling of soil on his hands and sunshine on his back that made him love it. Planting carrots and melons gave him peace, it promised safety in the moment and in the future.
Rekrap knew that it was pointless when he hummed songs and whispered encouragement to his plants when he watered them. It made him laugh thinking about it, and he never brought it up to his friends. Most people probably don't even know he gardens.
It really started with him planting carrots, just to make sure he has a steady supply. It evolved since then, adding melons, then potatoes, all out of practicality really. Eventually though, he added flowers, some herbs as well, to it.
What is the point of a garden if not to bring you joy? And if the garden brought a sense of safety and eased the paranoia, however false those feelings may be, Rek figured that would do.

You know things are going worse when I don't even touch 'Hammond Song' by The Roches and instead go straight to my 2020 most listened to playlist
