Oh, this is dangerous.

The answer should be, "We can't" or "Never" or anything along those lines but instead, she's giggling against his shoulder, her head shaking a moment before she pulls back to draw her thumb over his bottom lip to remove the smear of lipstick from his skin. It'd become all too easy for the pair of them to find corners of gardens or empty rooms to hide their indiscretions in. Private for two simple reasons: a promise made to his younger sister that she shouldn't have broken and a surname that provided nothing to his social status should they be tied together.

Outside their hiding spot, the party raged on; music and laughter, and polite conversation provided a blanket while the adjoining room gave them both separate exits to hide any suspicion. But, they've both been gone too long and soon their absences would be noticed. "I have talked my uncle into hosting the next ball in a fortnight." These events were so much easier to hide inside of and until then, she was short of ideas.

"We will see each other, though." She promised, her eyes bright as she sought out his in the darkness, "Dinners, promenades, our paths will cross I'm certain of it." The tip of her nose brushed against his, "Until then, will you miss me?"

Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?

Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.
