“So,” Alex says, plopping down on Henry’s couch. “You said some things on my channel are more achievable with a partner.” Or, The camboy!Alex sequel.
diamonds are forever by rizcriz
Henry shakes his head. “James Bond is fictional.” Alex raises his eyebrows. “But . . . ?” Gaze slipping to the ceiling, Henry nods once. “It is not . . .” He says, making a face as his eyes meet Alex’s again. “Dissimilar to James Bond.” Alex nods. “So . . .” He trails off, the information still processing. It’s a bit like his mind is buffering as he makes sense of it. It’s so little information, yet so much all at once. Like someone’s thrown an encyclopedia at his head and given him a cliff notes explanation expecting him to know it word for word. “That would mean—I’m dating James Bond?” He blinks, sitting up straight. “Oh my god,” he exclaims with sudden realization. “I’m a Bond Girl.”
Happiness I Seek by MayQueen517
A sick day in the Brownstone === “It really must be serious if you’re admitting you’re sick,” Henry says, grinning weakly when Alex groans, shoving at him.
the clementine thing by saintlynomenclature
And, really, it doesn’t matter whether or not Alex explains it to Liam and the rest of his friends. They’ve never really discussed it between themselves through the years. Slowly, Alex had gone from asking Would you please peel this for me? to Please? to silently extending the citrus without any comment at all, just a soft smile. It’s one of the things that make them Alex-and-Henry; the silent conversations and the contentment in each other’s company. Now, as Alex starts to flourish through his position on the lacrosse team, his slew of AP classes, and his role in student government, getting him to slow down at all is a feat. The only way that Henry can do it, guaranteed, is by one of those innocuous little fruits. There’s nothing Alex can’t do—surely, he could peel a fucking orange if he felt so inclined—but Henry delights in being able to do this for him. - Five times Henry shares a clementine with Alex, and one time Alex returns the favor
(Not) A Cinderella Story by LolaLand
Henry is very much a prince. Alex is very much not a princess. OR Prince Henry isn't a fan of royal duties, and Alex isn't a fan of the monarchy (or their non-disclosure agreements).
our world, mine and his alone (the midnight train to go) by firenati0n
The posh accent hit Alex first, and he felt something curl in his gut. One of his amygdala brain worms did a little wiggle. He was unprepared for what was to come. A pair of criminally long legs entered his vision, effectively vaporizing most of the brain worms (that's a first), except for the ones slowly starting to chant shoulders and thighs and hair and legs and thighs and Alex couldn’t do a goddamn thing to stop his increasingly horny train of thought. All trains had left the station. Or, Alex asks a stranger to crack his back like a glow stick. Or, an overnight train meet-cute.
A Little Space to Think by allmylovesatonce
A surprise visitor sends Alex into a spiral about his future, specifically, his future with Henry.
I kiss the photo every night so you are in bed with me after all by imaginentertain
Following the election, the boys are back on their relative continents and back to their lives. And it sucks. It may only be a month until New Year's but things are different now: they're out to the world, Alex is the official suitor of the Prince, and they're talking about New York and the Brownstone and Law School. Alex misses Henry. Out loud. He's allowed. "Sure you'll find something to keep you busy." Henry will regret saying that. Probably.
of hubris and fowl by maxbegone
"The bird fucking bit me," Alex tells her before she can get a word out. June blinks. "What?" "And I'm bleeding." "What?" She repeats. Alex just holds up his hand, the bundle of tissues now somewhat sticking to his wound. "Alex," she starts, exasperated, "what the actual fuck?" On the evening of Wednesday, November 27th, 2019, the First Son of the United States, Alexander Claremont-Diaz, sustained minor injuries after contact with a wild turkey. Out of abundance of caution, Mr. Claremont-Diaz was transported to Walter Reed Medical Center for evaluation and treatment, as is protocol after contact with a wild animal. Or, Alex is dramatic, (definitely) antagonizes a turkey, and everyone thinks he's overreacting.
Trying My Patience (Try Pink Carnations) by chamel
Unfortunately for him, the only things more beautiful than Alex himself are Alex’s cakes. He’s the most in-demand cake artist in the city, and as such he books a lot of weddings. Many of the very same weddings that simply must also have Fox Florals arrangements for their centrepieces. Weddings like, apparently, this one. (Or, Henry the florist and Alex the cake artist are forced to collaborate last minute at a wedding job, make a mess, and learn some things about each other in the process.)
Balls to the Wall by inexplicablymine
“He looks kind of like a cross between a sickly Victorian orphan and the personification of the bubonic plague. I feel like I should be walking in with a Medico Della Peste plague mask and a stick,” Alex says into the phone while wearing his version of a hazmat suit (last week's sweats that need to be laundered expeditiously). He looks out into the carnage of his sleeping bedridden roommate in dismay. So maybe he doesn't need to rob a bank, but robbing a Starbucks for Henry’s happiness might be in order. He rips off the rubber gloves and grabs his shoes. “Fuck it, we ball.”  Or Alex is willing to go to great lengths in order to make Henry happy, great lengths indeed.

“You underestimate my stubbornness,” Alex says defiantly with a small smile. “Plus, I really need to wash my hair because it’s downright filthy, I just... can’t bring myself to actually leave the bed and do it.” Henry hums thoughtfully, a plan forming in his head; he can do something about this. He leans down to press a kiss on Alex’s forehead. “I’ll be right back.” — Alex is on his period. Henry takes care of him.

He pulls out his phone for a moment. Google’s “voice fine but can’t make myself talk” and then adds ‘ADHD’ on the end for good measure. He scrolls and few moments later he finds it. Going nonverbal is like walking barefoot on pins and needles when everyone else but me came prepared with steel-toed boots. Alex clicks off his phone and tosses it on the bedside table. Maybe, he thinks, he should’ve got that autism assessment. (or, sometime between christmas and new year, alex goes nonverbal during a party.)
Room For Rent (Sex Dungeon Not Included) by everwitch
When Alex comes, he only knows two things: that he’s good, and that he’s Henry’s. And that’s all he needs to know. Alex’s housemate has a sex dungeon. It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect; whips and bondage gear and a chair that looks like something a gynecologist would have use for. Alex, being the chill, sex-positive guy he is, is of course extremely cool with this. Totally normal about it. Enthusiastically supportive, even. But as Alex watches Henry invite a steady stream of men into his dungeon, he develops one tiny little issue with the arrangement: he desperately wants to take their place.
love's a game (wanna play?) by theprinceandagcd
“Fuck, marry, kill?” Alex suggests, mostly joking. Nora kicks gently at his thigh. “That could be fun.” “Wait, I was ki-” “Celebrities only or are we allowing real people?” Probably-Samantha poses. “Celebrities are real people, Samantha,” Pez says. Alex pushes down the rush of satisfaction that he had remembered her name correctly. “Non-celebrities should be fair game,” Alex insists, and Henry’s gaze meets his before quickly darting away. There’s a slight flush to his cheeks, like maybe the drink in his hand isn’t his first. Or second, even. Jesus, his face is pink. --- aka, FMK as a plot device
Palatial by floatingaway4
With a smirk, Alex holds out his other hand, palm up.  “I’m not giving you twenty dollars,” Henry says with a laugh.  “We had a bet, sweetheart.”  Henry grabs Alex’s outstretched hand and pulls him in for a quick kiss. “You had a bet. I ignored you.”  “I really thought we were gonna get all the way through this one without her saying ‘palatial’ but she pulled it out right at the last minute.” He slides a finger into the belt loop of Henry’s jeans and yanks him close. “You know, I really do forget, every once in a while, that you’re a prince. Good thing I have the New York real estate market to remind me.”
Seven Minutes in Heaven (Reversed) by TheAmberFox
'Tell him, you idiot,' Nora mouths at him, and Alex grimaces. He’s been over it with Nora so often and somehow, she is convinced that there’s a 99% chance that Henry would react positively. Alex can’t see it. He can’t even see 1%. Ever since they’ve started college together, Henry’s not dated at all. He has talked about the women his family has tried to push on him as “reasonable matches” though. Alex, on the other hand, has tried distributing his attention equally throughout the dating pool and failed miserably. How can he focus on anyone else when Henry – the sole object of his heart’s desire – is right there? If Liam could see him now, he’d probably laugh his head off.
Once I get a taste by clottedcreamfudge
“Please,” Alex begs, on fire with a clawing desperate need. “Fuck, please, I’ll do anything. Henry.” Henry, entire body rigid with tension, slowly shakes his head. Alex sees his mouth – red from where Alex has been kissing him, biting him, well on his way to eating Henry alive – form the word no, even though he can’t hear it past the blood rushing in his ears. Then Henry turns and leaves, and Alex digs his fingers into the cheap plywood of his own desk as he tries desperately not to fall to the floor. Which is not, as it turns out, where this story starts.
Sweet Dreams of Holly and Ribbon by villageidiot
He falls asleep on the loveseat, Nora and June curled up on the couch across from him, as a terrible Hallmark Christmas film plays in the background. It’s the fourth night of sleeping alone—Henry taking care of some business back in the palace—and he’d rather wake up cold and cramped across from the two of them than alone in his own bed. That’s how Alex falls asleep. That is not how he wakes up.

“This is kinda boring, ma.” She pats him on the cheek, leans in a little closer, and says, “Find something to do, darlin’. You live here. You can’t leave.” She’s not exactly right, but he isn’t going to argue. Plus, her main advisor, Zahra, comes over. Alex is already a little afraid of her, so he doesn’t feel the need to draw attention to himself by smarting off at the mouth. She’s still talking to him when he spots this really beautiful guy about his age, and fuck, wow. Okay. “Not him,” his mom says into his ear, and he doesn’t even… Look, if she knows about the few guys he made out with at parties in Madrid last year when the opportunity arose, this is the first he’s hearing of it. “His dad is the British ambassador. I can’t have you breaking hearts and causing an international incident.” OR: Ellen Claremont is the US ambassador to Canada. Arthur Fox is the British Ambassador to Canada.
All the Lonely Starbucks Lovers by @kiwiana-writes
“That floor doesn’t look like it’s very comfortable on your knees, is all.” Henry leans forward, scooping out a piece of brownie that got under the counter, somehow. “I wouldn’t worry about that—my knees are quite used to it, I assure you.” A ringing silence follows this pronouncement, during which Henry focuses very hard on opening a trap door directly into hell with the power of his mind. Or, five times Henry puts his foot in his mouth in front of his customer crush, and one time he puts his dick in his customer crush's mouth instead doesn't.
treading water in the deep, just waiting for the tides to meet by anincompletelist
Alex can’t remember his first words. He can’t recall the melody to the lullaby his parents often sang at his bedside to get him to sleep, nor the name of his sister’s imaginary friend that they had tea parties with on the floor of her bedroom. But he knows they existed. That it all happened and that each of those little, seemingly insignificant moments had built him up and formed him into the person he is today, even if he can’t recall every one of them perfectly. But he can remember, as clear as if it’d been only moments ago, the day that he found out what the red band around his wrist meant, imprinted underneath his skin with a small gap right over his pulsepoint, waiting for the day the ends would meet.
Dream a Little Dream Of Me by affectionatelyrs
They’re no longer in the garden. There’s no grass, no flowers, no fireflies. Only stars—hundreds upon hundreds of them in an otherwise vast sea of darkness, dazzling and twinkling and here. “How—” “They came here for you,” Alex says, his voice light. “It’s what you desired. So, I asked them to come and shine. Just for you.” “But won’t the world need them?” Alex shrugs and simply says, “You need them more.” - Or, Five times Alex visits Henry in his dreams during his dark days, and one time he does so in the real world (and stays)
love left a permanent mark by HypnosTheory
Henry clears his throat and answers again. “I’m a bit nervous. About the needles.” “Thank you for telling me,” Alex says, voice dipping low. Henry wouldn’t move from his spot on the couch if the apartment was on fire. “People aren’t afraid of the needle. They’re afraid of the pain. But you’re not scared of that, right?” -- Henry decides to get a tattoo. It comes with more than one kind of aftercare. (Finale to the only thing on my mind series)
say you'll see me again (even if it's just in your wildest dreams) by coffeecatsme
“You should ask her to dance.” She nudges Alex, and Alex pretends there isn’t a flush rushing up to his face. He opens his mouth to mention every single fucking reason dancing with the blonde is a bad idea—she looks about a foot taller than Alex, objectively uncomfortable for some fucking reason, and Alex is against royalty on, like, principle—but then June nudges him again with widened eyes. “Come on. You know you want to, and I’m sure she’d appreciate it. None of the other fuckers are asking her because of how tall she is.” For a moment, Alex glares at her. Then, he downs his champagne, shoves it in June’s face and tries to smooth his jacket. “You fucking owe me, June,” he says and ignores the brilliant smile that appears on her face. “Don’t act so fucking upset about it.” Or, 5 times Henry is too scared to come out to Alex and 1 time Alex gives him the courage. Or, 6 times Alex slowly falls in love with Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, for exactly who he is.
as always, let me know if you want me to tag you, and see you next week!

Are you tired? Are you taking this survey because you can’t sleep?  I am a bit tired but it's only 12.40pm so it's not like it's the middle of the night. I just stayed up too late playing Xbox instead of sleeping.
Do you have something important to do?  No. I did just go and make a cup of tea though as I had a real craving.
Do you like Jalapeno Cheetos?  I'm not a fan of anything spicy so they're not something I've even tried before.
Do you wish you had a new phone?  Not immediately but mine will probably need to be replaced within the next couple of months as the battery is starting to go.
Name one thing you ate today?  A donut.
Do you like 80’s music? 60’s music? 90’s music?  I like some music from all those decades.
Do you find rap music annoying? It depends. Some I really like and some I don't even understand lol.
What song is stuck in your head?  Nothing at the moment as I'm watching Cinderella lol.
Have you ever been to Germany? Yeah, to Berlin a couple of times. My dad used to run marathons and we used to fly out with him for the weekend while he did the race.
Do you drink coffee in the mornings? Yeah, I always have at least one coffee before work.
Do you become a fan of lots of things on Facebook?  Not really.
What time do you go to bed on school/work nights? I go up to bed around 9pm most nights but I don't go to sleep until about 11pm-midnight ish.
Have you ever seen a therapist?  Yeah, I was in therapy for a while as a student.
Do you get in trouble at school often?  No.
Do you watch videos on YouTube?  I watch TV shows on YouTube but that's about it.
Name a song that makes you happy.  Mr Brightside - The Killers.
Name a song that makes you want to dance. ^ that one.
Name a song that brings back memories.  Pretty Girl by Sugarcult.
Does the song above bring back good or bad memories?  Both good and bad. It's a weird nostalgic song for me.
What decade do you think is the best musically?  I love music from all sorts of different decades. I couldn't just pick one that I like above all the others.
Do you take a long time to get ready in the mornings?  If it's just me and I don't need to sort the animals or do any housework, I can be up and out in 15-20 minutes. Normally I give myself an hour, though.
Do you wear a lot of makeup?  No.
Have you ever written poetry or fiction?  Yeah, both.
Do you know how to read music?  Theoretically, but I haven't played an instrument in ages.
Do you regularly use a blow dryer?  No.
When was the last time you went to church?  About twenty years ago.
Would you date someone who was a different religion than you?  I wouldn't date anyone who was religious in the first place.
What is your best subject in school?  History and English.
Name something you do nearly everyday.  Drive.
Do you take surveys a lot?  I go through phases. Sometimes I do some everyday for weeks, other times I go a week or without bothering.
Have you ever had sushi?  Sure. It's nice enough but it's not my favourite thing in the world.

Do you have any recs for rated-G Dramione fics? Preferably rated G fics that have a good storyline with adventure elements or plots that delve into the magical world the way the books do? I’ve got an 11 year old kid I’m tutoring that LOVES the HP books - only thing he’ll read - and he sort of sheepishly asked about fan fiction and what I like. He thought the idea of Dramione was cool but “kinda didn’t get how it could work.” I think he’s also moderately embarrassed by the idea of reading a romance but is also interested because he asked to read some. If I can point him to something that he’d like that is also age appropriate, it could help his reading. Any ideas?
Title: Abyss Author: zarah joyce Rating: k+ Genre(s): Drama/Adventure Chapters: 29 Word Count: 86,757 Summary: Draco saves Hermione the night Hogwarts is attacked. Now, complications arise between the two as they fight their feelings, as well as other foes, in reclaiming their lost school.
Title: The Prince of Everything Author: Draconian Scribe Rating: K Genre(s): Adventure, Humor, Parody, Romance Chapters: 1 Word Count: 3,422 Summary: Behold, the long-lost chapter of “The Tales of Beedle The Bard”! A fairy tale fraught with all the lessons on compassion, forgiveness, and epistemology that JKR could’ve imparted through this pairing, but, due to some unfortunate oversight, chose not to.
If Only in My Dreams by CeceLouise - G, 23 chapters - To get to Harry, a desperate Draco Malfoy kidnaps Hermione Granger. As the two spend time together, they are forced to reevaluate their opinions of each other. A spirited Christmas love story.
Dramione and the Sorcerer's Stone by Emmione Watser - K+, 20 chapters - Draco and Hermione meet before they even go to Hogwarts. A friendship appears between them. Once they get to Hogwarts, however, they have to meet in secret, and be mean to each other when they are with others. It's the thrilling first Harry Potter book, but with a little twist. Pansy, Blaise, and Draco are quite OOC. R&R!
Give me one reason to trust you by sskitty2006 - K+, 21 chapters - Hermione wakes up from her nap to find Draco Malfoy in her bedroom ,asking her for help with a plan to defeat Voldemort. Hermione accepts the offer ,not knowing that that decision had just changed her life. Dramione
The Mudblood and The Prince by dracos-cinderella - K+, 16 chapters - FINISHED. Based on the Cinderella fairy tale. Set after Lord Voldemorts reign and defeat, in a time where the Malfoys are the rulers of the Kingdom. But what happens when the heir and a mudblood meet before midnight? Dramione fic.

Desperately Ever After by Laura Kenyon

Imagine what might happen if our most beloved fairy tale princesses were the best of friends and had the dreams, dilemmas, and libidos of the modern woman. How would their stories unfold after the wedding bells stopped ringing? Set in a fictional realm based on New York City, DESPERATELY EVER AFTER sprinkles women’s fiction with elements of fantasy, and encourages readers to rethink everything they know about happy endings.
Years after turning her husband from beast back to man and becoming his queen, Belle finds out she’s finally going to have a child. But before she can announce the wondrous news, she catches him cheating and watches her “happily ever after” go up in flames. Turning to her friends for the strength to land with grace, she realizes she’s not the only one at a crossroads:
Cinderella, a mother of four drowning in royal duties, is facing her 30th birthday and questioning everything she’s done (or hasn’t) with her life.
Rapunzel, a sex-crazed socialite and one-woman powerhouse, is on a self-destructive quest to make up for 20 years locked away in a tower.
Penelopea, an outsider with a mother-in-law from hell, is harboring a secret that could ruin everything at any moment.
One part Sex and the City, two parts Desperate Housewives, and three parts Brothers Grimm, DESPERATELY EVER AFTER picks up where the original tales left off—and reimagines them a la Gregory Maguire’s Wicked. With the wit of authors like Jennifer Weiner and the vision of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, the women of DESPERATELY EVER AFTER rescue each other from life’s trials with laughter, wine, and a scandalous new take on happily ever after.
I really really liked this story and let me preface by saying that I did not know this was part of a series when I started it. Much to my surprise, in the end, it didn’t really end. Total cliffhanger! I guess I will just have to read the next books in the series to know what finally happens. Either way, I love a good fairy tale retelling and I love it when fairy tales are modernized! Our favorite Disney princesses are all grown up and experiencing real-life problems such as aging and infidelity. A lot of the issues these princesses were facing were hilarious because of just how real they are. For a 30-something like me who grew up watching these movies and reading these stories, it’s great. Totally relatable. I think Cinderella was my favorite character partially because I think our lives are somewhat similar. I am not happy with my impending birthday bringing me ever closer to an age I do not want to be and I’m sort of unsure about what to do with myself as well.
To be honest, I wasn’t that much of a fan of Rapunzel. I get it but I think her story was a little unrealistic. I think someone who was locked in a tower for 20 years would want to get out and see the world and everything/everyone in it. Rapunzel, for reasons unknown for most of the story, distrusts men completely and doesn’t want to form any lasting relationships with men. She was a little pushy and overbearing to her friends who are already married and, for the most part, happy. Just let them be happy.
Overall, I really did love this story. I thought it was really funny and I love the strength of their friendship. I know that seems a little cliche but a lot of girls are not that great of friends closeup so it was a nice change to see the support, especially towards Belle, who had it worst in my opinion. I think anyone who grew up loving the Disney princesses would get a kick out of this “where are they now?” take on our favorite fairy tales.

A Second Decade of Movies
Ten years ago on Facebook, I compiled a list of every movie I watched, in order, from the first decade of the network’s existence. Now, here’s part two, covering the years 2010-2019. There are 754 titles below, though some are repeat viewings. The movie I watched the most? Harold Lloyd in “The Freshman.” My favorite movie from the last decade? “The Tree of Life.”
But I began the 2010s with James Cameron’s mega-hit “Avatar.” I’ll go on record saying the movie is still enjoyable ten years later, as I watched it again in 2019 with my kids to prep for visiting the World of Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But--I also agree with those who say there’s little remembered from the film in the culture today. Can you name the stars? Recount the plot in detail? Mostly what we remember from the film is the spectacle of it all, game-changing when it was released in 2009.
At any rate, enjoy the list below! If a title is hotlinked, it will take you to an essay, interview, or related coverage on the film by yours truly.

Prom Night
AN: I haven’t written fan fiction in ages so I’m sorry if its no good. I also don’t have anywhere I can post it at since I gotta wait a week for ao3 to invite me???? Hopefully some Banana Fish fan might enjoy  it.
-------
“I don’t know about this Sing..” Yue protested. The younger of the two smiled as he helped fix his friend’s suit collar and pat his shoulder. “It’ll be fun! Let’s enjoy being our age for a night.” The two had been standing on the stairs of an old high school that was already alive with lights and sounds from inside. Yue groaned lightly as he tried to remember why he let Sing talk him into this situation.
After the events involving Banana Fish had died down the air of the city had changed and so had the two dragons of Chinatown. They were lifted to higher pedestals in their world and viewed in the same eyes as adults. “Wanna go to a real-life prom?” Sing inquired of Yue a month ago. “There’s one for kids in the city and I got us tickets.”
Yue looked up from his laptop perplexed. “Prom? Like in those movies you had me watch?” A slight frown crossed his face as he sat back to cross his arms over his chest as if to solidify his silent disapproval. “I’ve been to galas more lavish and extravagant than some little kiddy prom. Our time for being children has been long gone. We have our roles Sing.”
Yue had a point, but Sing wasn’t going to admit it. He felt closer to Yue recently and knew how locked off and cold he could be at times out of instinct for survival. No innocent enjoyment or happiness could enter Yue’s realm. “Yeah, we’ve got roles because of who we are, but we’re also kids too! Haven’t you ever wondered what it would be like to be like kids our age?”
Recently that had been a thought occupying the back of the older teens mind, but it was more of an annoyance and distraction to him. Sure, there was a time where he was able to enjoy being his age but that was taken away from him early thanks to his foul brothers. He’d spent more time in darkness, pain and grief, that he wasn’t sure it was possible to find that warmth again. During those thoughts, Blanca’s words rang in his ears and the sting of Sing’s slap all that time ago burned fresh on his cheek. There were at least two people in his world who genuinely wanted him to find warmth again. “Just this one night,” he replied after a rather long thought filled silence. “After tonight no more trying to make me a teenager like in movies and fairy tales. I’m head of the Lee clan and you are my eyes in Chinatown.”
Brows rose and eyes widened when he heard Yue agree to his silly request. “Really?!” He jumped up from the couch he had been lounging on and pulled Yue to stand for a quick examination. “Do you have any clothes that don’t scream I’m the Chinese Richie Rich?”
“Of course, I don’t,” Yue scoffed upturning his nose at the comment. “And who’s Richie Rich?!”
Thankfully Sing was a clever boy and managed to get them both suits with matching tie and bow tie. As a joke Sing had bought a corsage to match with the red color of Yue’s tie but was pleasantly surprised when his friend willingly let him pin it to his breast pocket.  “At the stroke of midnight, we turn back into leaders of Chinatown right” Sing joked with a smile. “Ready Cinderella?”
Yue rolled his eyes at the nickname but walked along with his friend into the lively setting. Sing took the lead in getting them checked in before they headed into the gymnasium where the dance would be held. He could tell Yue was caught off guard by the number of children his age, the sounds, the lights, the foreignness of the setting he had been placed in. Immediate culture shock was written all over his face. The moon dragon looked to his counterpart with a slight panic that he tried to hide by waving a hand to the festivities. “Well?” He opened. “What should we do?”
Sing smiled a bright reassuring smile as he nodded to the refreshment table. “Should we get a drink?” Hooking arms with his friend, he led him over to the table that was lined with budget snacks and of course a classic large punch bowl. Yue’s nose scrunched as he surveyed the food that lined the table. “Am I supposed to eat this? It’s.....so cheap.”  To that comment Sing laughed and passed the other a cup. “Of course, it’s cheap. Not everyone was born rich and the people who set this up are non for profit. The kids here are like us. They just wanna be kids for a night.” Yue went quiet as he examined his cup before looking out at the dance floor. The other kids looked like they were enjoying themselves. Laughing, dancing, joking around...Before he could get too loss in his thoughts starting to build, he was ushered to sit on some bleachers by Sing. He could clearly see the dark muck building at Yue’s feet where his thoughts would pull him down into a spiral of sadness and toxicity. Tonight, was going to be the night where Sing would help Yue move toward the light and stepped out of the dark.
“Sing?” Yue spoke up. “What’s that?” He pointed to a black curtained box where children had been going in and out holding pictures. The fellow dragon smiled, happy to see Yue showing some interest in the event. “It’s a photo booth,” he explained. “You go in and there’s funny props you can use and take pictures. Wanna go?” His smile grew into a mischievous smirk as he took the cup from Yue to help him down from the bleachers. He wasn’t going to let the other protest the idea regardless of his answer.
While they waited their turn, Yue was still glancing around the room. He took in the energy of the children who got excited for a favorite song, the possible first love building over by the punch bowl, and the full enjoyment on everyone’s face. It...it was nice. He was snapped out of the admiration when Sing pulled him along for their turn. He looked at the table and box in front of them filled with ridiculous props for them. “Uh....” he began but Sing was already grabbing giant sunglasses to put on him. After the first photo was taken, Yue looked to Sing who was already making a mad grab as well. A sign saying “I’m with stupid” caught Yue’s eyes that he quickly grabbed, along with a bright pink boa. For the last one, Sing put his arm around Yue’s shoulder grinning with a thumbs up. Yue smiled a genuine soft smile while giving his own thumbs up.
“You can keep the pictures,” Yue suggested as he continued to hold and admire them. He finally passed the sheet to the other who folded it up to place his pocket. “I’ll hang on to it for whenever you wanna look back on it,” he smiled saying.
A change in tempo from the DJ sent the whole room in a frenzy. It seemed like a popular song was on. Smirking deviously, Sing grabbed Yue’s arm to pull him to the dance floor. All of Yue’s protests were drowned out by the music and joyful singing and cheering of the attendees. Once they were in a good spot, Sing let the other go to shake his groove thang. Yue on the other hand stood with hands crossed, frowning at Sing. “Dance Yue! Feel the beat and move!” He shook his head ‘no’. Sing gave a slight frown back as he stepped up to his friend. His hands slipped to Yue’s hips where he forced them to sway side to side even if his upper body still tried to protest. “Daaaaaaance,” Sing whined as he swayed along with Yue.  “Don’t be so stuck up, Princess Party Pooper.”
“I am not!” He retorted. Pushing Sing’s hands from his hips, Yue gently pushed him back to give himself space. While he was unfamiliar with the song, Yue was surprisingly giving a show for Sing. ‘Call me stuck up huh?’ He thought. His hips swayed and hands twirled as he stepped up to the other to bring his show closer. Hands beginning to travel along Sing’s features before he turned his back to him to look over his shoulder. Sing was following the message Yue was sending and returned his hands to Yue’s hips. They continued to dance together, finding their rhythm and flow before the music changed once more to a slow song.  The two paused. “Did you learn how to slow dance in your princess classes?” Sing asked with a smirk. His hands moved to Yue’s hips again while Yue’s rested on Sing’s shoulders. “Maybe you should take some lessons Sing.” Yue was obviously leading in their movements while the song played. “I..I’ve had fun Sing. Thank you.”
Hearing the gratitude from his friend filled his heart with joy. “I’m happy to hear it. Did it give you a nice taste of a high school prom?”
“There’s one thing missing,” Yue mused as he returned his gaze to Sing. Before he could reply, Sing was at the receiving end of a kiss. “Now,” he softly smiled in reply as he pulled away. “It’s like in the movies. Let’s go home Sing.”
The two made their way back through the crowd to exit the building, hand in hand. Yue was thankful for the brief glimpse at what a kid his age could enjoy. The memories he created with Sing on this night would never be forgotten.

Things I Have Been Reading- July
Tumblr media
Hello my lovely tumblr people, how has your day been?  I hope it’s been good.  Right, now, this months list isn’t as long as usual as I’ve been very busy and hardly read anything BUT I am hoping to make up for that next month so please send me any fics you think I might like.
For more fic recs feel free to follow my @girl-next-door-recommends which is a blog I set up fairly recently to keep track of all the great stuff I have been reading.  I also have a tagging system to make it easy to find your fandom amongst the many or you can search for a certain character if that is your thing.
So, here is some things I have been reading that I thought you might like too.
Tumblr media
Supernatural:
Magic Dean - @kittenofdoomage has blessed us, truly blessed us, with this amazing incredibly smutty piece of Dean fucking Winchester.  Definitely one for the 18+ and DAMN don’t read it in public because you will need to go lay down for a bit or do the ice bucket challenge or something.  *furiously fans face*
Ready Steady - @dont-hate-relate-pls So as some of you may know I’ve been in a bit of a ROB crisis of late (it will help with a certain piece I’m working on but that’s beside the point) so ANYWAY, I came across this Chuck fic and instantly fell in love with it.  It broke my heart but in a really good way and I love the song it’s based on so go read the awesome fic!
Here again - @sdavid09 You know my list wouldn’t be complete without my favourite angel making an appearance and this is one I read a while back and recently rediscovered and I swear it ripped my heart out all over again.  So many Gabe feels right here so you have been warned!
Tumblr media
Marvel:
Can’t Stop This Feeling - @t-adash-i Peter Maximoff is actually super cute and sweet.  I think this awesome little fic might just have opened another trash can for me to fall into.
Married with Benefits - @bovaria A story where you are fake married to Steve you say?  Don’t mind if I do.  One of my favourite writers writing one of my favourite characters in one of my favourite AU’s.  GO.  Read ALL the parts now!!
Assistant to the Captain - @marvelouswritings YYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! And with this series and it’s incredibly slow burn you are forgiven for the angry pile of angst I am after reading Table for Three.
Control - @theheadcanonsawakens I do like a bit of Pietro and wiping the cock smug smirk off his face so this fic is right up my street.  Cute and funny, just a brilliant story you should go check out.
The One With The STD - @redlipstickandplaid Dude. Seriously dude! Fuck Bucky and Fuck Nat!  Aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh.  This is so fabulously written that I am really really fucking angry at fictional characters right now so well done.
Table for Three - @marvelouswritings What was that? Oh, never mind that was just the sound of my heart breaking into a billion pieces.  I swear to god I have never hated Bucky more than I do reading this series.  Right now I am soooooo Team Sam or even Team Steve.
Love Me Honestly - @brighterlights The sequel to one of my all time favourite series and it does not disappoint!  The adventures of reader and Bucky continue and it is super sweet and cute and lovely.
Liar - @iwillbeinmynest There are times when I just want to wrap Tony Stark up in a fluffy blanket and cuddle him like a human burrito until everything is better and this fic plays to that side of me perfectly.  Sleep deprived, working himself too hard to save everyone Tony is a weakness of mine and this fic hit me right where I knew it would and now I want to go write more Tony myself.
Tumblr media
Star Trek:
Darlin’ - @musingsongbird McCoy is one sexy bastard and I TOTALLY get this kink.  Beautifully crafted smut here for over 18′s enjoyment.  Definitely a fun one to wake up to.
Frustrated - @kaitymccoy123 Scotty SMUT!!! (please consider that a warning, no under 18′s please)  This is the writers first time writing smut and it is far better than I can ever write! This piece is worth the cold shower.
What I Never Knew I Always Wanted - @pinkamour1588 I love Scotty and I love fluff so imagine how amazingly ecstatic I was to stumble across this beautifully written little piece!  This wonderful writer deserves a follow so go read this and then lurk in her blog just like I am doing wahahaha.
Tumblr media
Other Fandoms and Fics:
Like A Wildflower - @team-durin Oh please please feel free to tag me in any and all fics about my favourite dwarf!  A little Fili is always appreciated and jealous Fili is even more super yummy plus you get Kili being an adorable shit too!  Fantastic.
Home Before Midnight - @another-tmnt-writer So this is possibly one of the cutest things I have ever read!  Donatello as Cinderella is just...*sigh*.  I wish I had some requests for this amazing writer but until I do I will just scroll through a wonderful blog with fabulous writing.

I am in desperate need of a new otome game! 😣😩😧 Please recommend one! I'm already playing Mystic Messenger and slbp is there something like those? P.S Ilysm. 😊
There are definitely some good Otomes out there similar to SLBP, I have not however played an otome that is quite like Mystic Messenger (It’s a very unique game and I applaud Cheritz’s creativity)I’ll describe a few options for you to choose from (but don’t limit yourself to just what I suggest as there are a lot more good ones than just what I am suggesting).
I’ll be listing some of my favorite Mobile and Computer Otome games.
Mobil Games:
Destined To Love - By CYBIRD: In Destined To Love you are sent back in time to Japan’s Bakumatsu time period and run into a variety of interesting characters, from a variety of backgrounds. You will hear a few familiar names of people and place.
Midnight Cinderella - Also by CYBIRD: In this game you are chosen as a princess elect in a fictional world and must find a good suitor to marry. each route is unique and has it’s own obstacles for you and your chosen suitor to overcome.
Be My Princess Party - By Voltage: You have probably heard of this one before, the way the gameplay itself is set up is almost identical to SLBP. The setting is a Modern Fictional World where you become the designer for your chosen prince. I have only played Glenn’s route but I know a lot of people who are absolutely in love with the other characters and highly recommend them.
Computer Games:
Ozmafia - ByPoni-Pachet SY: This is probably one of my favorite games ever so hang in there I have a lot to say about it! Think Wizard Of Oz, mixed with the mafia, and some of your favorite fairy tale characters in a way you’ve never seen before. There is something for everyone in this game as there are PLENTY of characters and multiple endings for each character. Similar to Mystic Messenger the decisions you make determine the character you will end up with. There are some love triangles going on in this game, some really dark secrets, and so much more. The MC is totally lame, but I think that’s pretty much expected in most otome games *sigh*. The only other negative part of this game is it costs about $35 on steam to get, the good news though is there are no micro transactions. There’s a lot more to this game than I mentioned but I could go ON about it.
Seduce Me 1 and 2 - By Michaela Laws: It should be obvious from the title but these games have sexual content in them; I included this one because some fans of SLBP and MM like this sort of thing. In the first game you are in high school when your grandfather has passed away who leaves her his mansion. Her parents (who in my opinion are really shitty…) have her move in right away to “teach her independence”. Upon arriving she finds 5 demon brothers sprawled out on the floor and that is where their story begins, your choices determine the outcome of the story as well as who you will end up with (There are also 2 female options in this game). In the sequel you are abducted on your wedding day to the demon world. Your chosen demon brother from the previous game comes to rescue you but due to circumstances you and he are required to stay and defeat a great evil. These games probably have the most badass MC ever depending on your choices. Both are fully voiced in English. The best part is that the first game is FREE (no micro transactions either) and the second game is only $10.
Honorable Mentions for Mobil and PC:
Love, Lies and a Heist - By CYBIRD
My Forged Wedding - By Voltage
Amnesia Memories - By Idea Factory:
Destiny’s Princess - By Dogenzaka Lab: This game has Yukimura, Masamune, Nobunaga, Kotaro, and Hanbei as the romance options, however they are not the same as they are in SLBP. Also this game is pretty messed up sometimes (and that’s coming from ME) so if you choose this, viewer discretion is advised.
I hope one of these (or more than one) works for you :) If you have any questions about any of the games mentioned message me and I’d be happy to answer to the best of my ability!

Love, Lies, and a Heist - New game from Cybird, Otome game geveloper, famous for its ‘Midnight Cinderella’ and ‘Destined to Love series’.
So here goes the prologue:
The MC is a common, village girl, who got accepted to work in the capital city of Laurelia. Apparently two big families run the city, named Cromwell Family and Bradley Family, and It is well known that things are rough between the two.
Our poor MC who was only preparing to be a waiter at a Tea House owned by Cromwell Family, got dragged into the rivalry between them. How come? of course she’s got recruited by Ryan Cromwell, to pretend as a new socialites, crashing Bradley’s Party, and to make things worse, she is to steal a priceless coin from Logan Bradley’s room.
To cut things short, she messed up, got caught by a security guard who then put a blindfold on her, and suddenly a mysterious gentleman appeared and saved her. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a chance to see her savior’s face, only to be mesmerized by his voice and gentle touch.
------------- Prologue ends
Here’s a brief of the guys description:
Alec: This sour puss and ts*ndere is MC’s co-worker in the Cromwell’s tea house. He’s a runaway, trying to hide his real identity and is pretty bad at doing so because everyone in Cromwell family already know.
Ewan: This expressionless guy, is the main reason why Alec’s effort is in vain. He’s Alec’s best friend and also Logan Bradley’s trusted niece. Despite being a Bradley, he’s very kind and helpful towards our MC. He seems to be hiding something from our MC, and that’s what makes him so mysterious.
Luca: Luca is the famous heartthrob of the city. Behind his charming look, he’s quite a ‘shy only for the MC-guy’. He’s willing to do any odd job Cromwell given him, including to escort our MC to crash Bradley Family’s party.
Logan: This arrogant prick is the Bradley family’s head, and is notorious for his cruel, sadistic, inhumane, *more 10 curses words here*, etc. He has a poor relationship with Ryan Cromwell, or love hate relationships for BL fans. Just like other fictional character, the more jerk, the more capable leader he is.
Regrettably, Ryan, Harry, Chris and Noel’s route aren’t out yet.
--------------------------
After reading the prologue, i am initially interested in Ewan, then Alec. But after reading into their first chapter (free), i immediately purchased Logan’s story. I actually didn’t really like Logan’s character who is the typical domineering young lord, but our MC KICKASS in his route, so, yes it is worth it.
3 Top things in Logan’s route:
1. I love the tough MC, she bites, literally, his route strongly made reference to Beauty and the Beast, where she’s Belle and he’s the rude and arrogant Beast.
2. And how people suggested her to pursue other career as Beast tamer after seeing Logan fall for her.
3. Finally, Ryan’s devastated look in this route is priceless. And their constant bicker. And Logan’s cute plea for Ryan’s approval. And Ryan trying to kill himself.

Brand new material! I've done it, I've inserted content from the King's Cage excerpt even though it doesn't add up with my plot in general ;-)
The Moon part II
The Reaper
"What a gift she's made to you," Cassandra marveled at his prowess.
Sorata nodded gravely, yet he couldn't help it, he started to smirk when he saw her raising her hand to her chest in a dramatic gesture. She wore the ring he'd given to her.
The only jewellery she never takes off.
"We'll put your ability to good use, Sorata Ives," she announced, then grinned. "Thief."
The time for hesitation was over.

Mare POV
I'd said the words Maven had wanted to hear from me. Words that were supposed to set up a ruse, to catch any Newbloods still in the shadows, powerful swords without one to wield them, as Maven had phrased it. Before they pledged their allegiance to the Scarlet Guard, the king had made a public offer to take them in, like a shepherd calling to his flock of sheeps.
Only that Maven was a wolf in disguise.
I had to lie about everything that had happened in the fall, when both the king and I had been searching and recruiting the Newbloods of Norta. I'd wanted to hide and train them in safety, while Maven had them killed or imprisoned. But that was not what I'd told the people of Norta.
While I, together with Shade, Cal, Farley and Kilorn, had indeed acted in defiance of the Guard, everything else had been lies, a story fabricated for Maven's puposes.
Still I had no idea what Maven wanted to do with the Newbloods. His other Merandus relatives, apart from his mother, were hardly able to be the puppeteers of a whole company of Newbloods, not with their minds alone. Did he really expect to win over the Newbloods by claiming the Scarlet Guard was out to hunt them?
I doubted those Newbloods were in for any warmer hospitality than myself, even when I had been claiming to be Mareena Titanos. I wondered what Griffey told the Guard about this manoeuvre, or about me. What information did she receive in return? She didn't tell me anything, not after she had given me that one letter.
Love was like eating shards and waiting for the amount of blood you'd retch. And so was hope. That was the only thing she'd said to me. And it was accurate. More than a month had passed since the revelation about her cooperation with the Guard, and I had to endure this while completely ignorant of Cal's schemes to help me. Sometimes, I was too afraid for him to wish for rescue, not alone and on his own devices.
But I couldn't help it. My captivity was gnawing at me, as I was aware of Maven's atrocities, committed while I had to be his prize. With each passing day, I wondered more if the Scarlet Guard really thought it worthwhile to liberate me - me who had brought herself into this mess. Maybe what Griffey relayed to them made the Guard think I was doing well enough.
One vengeful part of me was glad to play a part in Maven's newest game. This move had to force their hands. The Scarlet Guard, the Newbloods, the other nations, most of all Monfort - what would they do about the official revelation of the existence of Newbloods? I had tried to shout out to the Red servants, telling them about the trap and the lies, without great expectations. Yet for the first time in almost two months, I trembled with excitement. They had to do something now. But I didn't dare to hope this would include me.
We were no longer in Archeon. The thaw came at the beginning of February, and Maven had his court travel his lands, to show me off, like Lady Haven had predicted. But it wasn't just me. He had another Newblood to present, a middle-aged man who had registered himself as a Newblood on his own volition, or so it was claimed. I wondered if he was actually a prisoner dragged out of his cell, to play a role for Maven, just like me. The gratitude he put on was too much to bear for me, yet he did his best to cement the image of the formidable boy king that Maven honed so much.
I wanted to retch in those moments, when I stood next to them, dressed-up like Evangeline while she had still been at court. Her progresses at the choke had become an official part of the royal broadcasts, to make the Nortan people proud of their warrior queen. Probably everyone was happier that way, apart from me. Instead of Evangeline, I had to accompany Maven as his Newblood ally, flanked by Ptolemus as the stand-in for his sister. I had lost count of the times I'd spat at him. But I still did, unbothered of the exchange of snickers between Ptolemus and Maven that followed everytime. I didn't care.
They deserve so much worse.
The room I spent the night in was more like a literal prison. The sounder device ticked relentlessly as two Arvens and the two other sentinels, strongarm Sallos and the Samos magnetron, held watch beyond the prison bars. I was in a  dilapidated side building that was a little off from the renovated main mansion that Maven lodged in, I had gathered that much, as well as that we were currently in the seat of the governor of the Aderonack region.
The king and his court had a party going on, after making another broadcast with me. Afterwards, I had been brought back into the dirty ashes, the gown stripped off me as soon as the broadcast was over, and put into rags again. At least that was more honest. I imagined the haughty nobilty grinning at each other now, aware of the ruse they were part in, laughing at the gullible Reds. I didn't know how much backlash the Scarlet Guard had received during the last days, but judging from the smug faces of the courtiers, a lot of Reds had to be cutting their support, perhaps selling out known rebels, though it was doubtful that it did them any good with the vengeful Silvers.
I wish the Scarlet Guard would drop bombs on them, just as relentlessly as in the propaganda.
I stayed awake until late, as usual, to shun the dreamgazer as much as possible. Though I was not even aware if he was taking part in the progress, or how close he had to be to invade my dreams. Without a glass wall between us, I was able to listen to my gaolers, to hear them talking about their boredom, frustration and gossip. It was strange to notice how little they cared about my presence, realizing I was just a job for them. They didn't fear me and so, they didn't look at me prying open the links of the chains shackling me. A useless try, to be honest, but better than doing nothing.
I startled in my tracks when I heard gasps coming from outside my cell. They were followed by the muffled sounds of my gaolers slammed against the metal bars. Silver blood trickled into my cage, reflective in the pale moonlight gleaming in from the small window above me. Heels clacked on the stone floor of the corridor and the cell doors opened creaking. I turned around, but all I saw were shadows, and Silvers slumped down in death. I couldn't grasp what had happened, or who was responsible.
Not until the sound of steps stopped as if someone stood in the middle of my cell. The moonlight intensified to an unnatural level as if all clouds in the sky had vanished. The light gathered on a figure like the limelight upon an actor on a stage.
Cassandra Griffey appeared in front me like a vision of doom, styled like a SIlver lady, in a black dress made of starlight and with a wreath of raven feathers on her brow. She looked like a harbinger of war, dressed in Silver blood and drowned in moonlight, too bright to be real.
"Strike midnight, and the party is over, Cinderella, " she said, smirking and tilting her head. "It's time to go home."
Commentary:
It's time to rush things, because King's Cage is coming! A short chapter, and thus with a cliffhanger.
The seat of the Aderonack governor is Coriane's and Julian's old home, I thought this is a nice idea, to have ... this ...  happening there.
I baulked at writing the little summary of Glass Sword, even though there are only like three sentences, Argh. I just don't like to put summaries into the text.
But I like the fairy tale references.
