I’ve despised myself for being too sensitive to take lives when I benefit from the killing of animals every day… it seemed like a perverted and unnatural existence where I was insulated from the reality of death. Un-animal behavior.
Reassessing it a bit, though… not being numbed to death, to feeling anguish every time, that is also part of its reality, is it not? And for animals, not killing and being a strict herbivore have never been synonymous. Scavengers aren’t committing a moral wrong, just acting according to their nature. I can still hope there is a place for my own nature in the world.

I would have just cleaned my kitchen tonight if I’d known my brain would just keep me awake playing out in detail the steps of cleaning my kitchen from the moment I conceived the plan until, apparently, dawn

@marshmallow-fluffy submitted: Do you know who this fine fellow is? My family's called them baby moths all my life, but I just consciously realized that can't be right, because moths come from caterpillars and therefore are always full moth sized. In [removed]. Please remove location
Lol yes adult moths do not start smaller and get larger throughout their lives. As you said, baby moths are caterpillars. This friend is an Indian meal moth, also called a pantry moth, flour moth, or grain moth. It’s a common pest of stored dry foods! If you see a lot of them, you may want to check your cupboard including sealed containers because they can and will chew through them.

To be clear. All bugs are important and to eradicate an entire species would have severe effects on the environment and be incredibly destructive. But. Pantry moths really fucking test me

6 Effective Ways of Getting Rid of Pantry Moths
Are you tired of seeing pantry moths hovering around when you open an old storage food box? This is the time when you need to take immediate action. Pantry moths can be troublesome damaging a variety of foods such as dried fruits, bird seed, whole grains, nuts, etc. If you have a doubt that your house has been infested by pantry moths, your first plan of action should be to act quickly. Because the pantry moth life cycle is short, you would be surprised to see how they multiply, making Pantry Moth Removal in Adelaide necessary.
Here is a list of ways in which you can control the pantry moths in your kitchen, pantry and home, have a look!
Keep an eye on your pantry.
It's all too common for us to have expired food stored at the back of overcrowded shelves for extended periods of time. Ensuring that we timely check what we have and moving pantry containers around will not provide these pantry moths a favourable environment to grow and multiply.
2. Get rid of infested food
All dry goods that are packaged open should be discarded. Also, throw away any bags and boxes that have holes in them that you did not make. Examine the following items carefully: If you see even one pantry moth near a specific cupboard, it is possible that all the food products that haven’t been stored air-tight in the area have been damaged by pests.
Throw away any infested foods you find, and if you find larvae on the outside of cans, clean them with undiluted vinegar. This will quickly kill the larvae. Put infested items in your outdoor garbage can. Do not put them in your kitchen trash can as this will harm them.
Keep your containers clean
Ensure that you thoroughly wash the reusable food containers frequently. If you're thinking about how to kill pantry moth eggs and larvae, a thorough cleaning of containers with hot soapy water will remove any pests that weren't thrown out with the infested food.
This is a critical step in pantry moth eradication that should not be overlooked. Pantry moth eggs are tiny and easily overlooked by humans!
Clear out your pantry and kitchen cabinets.
Vacuum all surfaces and notice signs of moth infestation in various places such as cracks and crevices and cupboard corners. Please keep the undersides of baseboards, shelves and floors in mind. Adult flying pantry moths are easy to spot in kitchen cabinets, but pantry moth eggs are tough to find. Getting rid of them in kitchen cupboards also means removing their eggs!
When emptying your vacuum, remember to wash out the dust container if it is a bagless model. If you used smaller attachments, you should thoroughly clean them as well to ensure that there are no sticky pantry moth eggs remaining.
Then, using a disinfectant or watered-down bleach, clean your shelving and all surfaces and allow them to air dry. What commonly causes these pests to reappear is improper cleaning at this stage – so try doing a thorough clean up and you would mostly need to do it just once - rather than wondering why these moths have reappeared.
Deal with shelf liners
Discard away shelf liners that are paper-based as they may harbour pantry moth larvae and/or eggs. If you are using plastic ones, they can be thoroughly washed and scrubbed in soapy water. It's best to wait until you fully get rid of moths before replacing your shelf liners, or to avoid using them altogether.
Alter your storage methods.
Cold temperatures can easily get the moths killed! In order to get rid of them and their future breeding, it is necessary to get all the grain products in the fridge or freezer. Once you start keeping these food out of your pantry, you will notice no pantry moths at all.
Tips to Keep These Pantry Moths Away by Our Pest Control Brighton Team
Leave exposed peppermint, cedar chips and bay leaves in the area. If you need to protect them, put them in a small sachet.
Inspect your pantry and food cabinets on a frequent basis, as well as all of their contents. When you locate pantry moths, take action as soon as possible to confine their expansion. Cleaning a single cabinet is much easier than cleaning every single cabinet in your kitchen!
Before making a purchase at the store, investigate the product packaging! As previously stated, pantry moths frequently hitchhike home with you from the grocery store.
