we're in such a strange era where men will just casually wax poetic for several paragraphs in mainstream media outlets about how john and paul were in love with each other but no one dares to explore the real questions (were they having gay sex? when were they having gay sex? what kind of gay sex were they having?) mate you're a journalist, do your job

Restored “Let it Be” Film Headed to Disney +
- The Beatles’ 1970 film returns May 8
The long and winding road of “The Beatles: Get Back” circles back to “Let it Be.”
Nearly three years after hosting Peter Jackson’s sprawling “Let it Be” postscript, Disney + returns to director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 film, which was released just after the Beatles’ split was announced. Long unavailable and restored by Jackson, “Let it Be” premieres May 8.
“It (the breakup) very much darkened the perception of the film,” Lindsay-Hogg said in a statement.
“But, in fact, how often do you get to see artists of this stature working together to make what they hear in their heads into songs? And then you get to the roof and you see their excitement, camaraderie and sheer joy in playing together again as a group and know, as we do now, that it was the final time, and we view it with full understanding of who they were and still are and a little poignancy.”
Jackson, who created “Get Back” with 60 hours of Lindsay-Hogg-shot footage, sees the two movies as complementary rather than competing.
“I now think of it all as one epic story, finally completed after five decades,” he said in a statement.
“The two projects support and enhance each other: ‘Let it Be’ is the climax of ‘Get Back,’ while ‘Get Back’ provides a vital missing context for ‘Let it Be.’”

why beatles why now
I'm exactly 3 weeks out today from incidentally pressing play on Peter Jackson's Beatles LOTR one ramblin' night and watching for maybe half an hour tops before before being so flooded. Flooded with the memories that in fact I knew every Beatles song back in the day--my first musical love as a teenager that I had just wandered off eventually from and forgotten. Flooded with the flash realization that every notion I'd had of the band AND their songs back then was highly restricted by my youth but also by the simplistic band mythologizing and lack of direct media of the 90's.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but surely I can't be the only one with this mind melting experience. How did you get here, blown away by the Beatles in year 2024?

Currently on hour 27 of rewatching Part 2 of the Get Back documentary. I've still got almost two hours left, which means I'll probably finish maybe by the end of the week.
Pausing every two sentences to curse and rant at all of them (except Ringo) for ten minutes, isn't conducive to swift progress.
Pausing practically every time Paul is on screen is definitely not helping matters any.
I live in the Apple Studio now.

Utter ew but you know what I just realised?
Again with the Jackson-Is-Peter’s-Son Theory you’ve got Kate being a sick fuck admitting she likes very underaged boys compared to a boy who already looks like Peter and ergo Derek, who Kate already seduced read: raped at sixteen
Additionally-yeah same Allison why is Kate such a fucked up insane piece of shit? Hate to pull this out but I don’t wanna hear anyone admiring her in any way shape or form considering that she would be public enemy number one if the genders here were reversed
