As is my tradition after finishing a locked tomb book, I will now post a list of the various things I did not understand, which made me say out loud “what the fuck”, in the hopes that someone, somewhere, understands what the fuck is going on and can explain to me.

1. What the fuck is up with Gideon and Harrow? Like, my understanding is Nona is Nav's soul in harrows body, with amnesia. But clearly not, since Nav is maybe in her own body? Where the fuck is Harrows soul? Its not in gideons body. She cant be a lyctor, so why does she have super healing? Why was Nona dying? What the fuck is going on?

AFTER READING: Okay so Nona is just Harrow with even more amnesia? Why was Nona dying? What the fuck is going on?

Hold on, wait a second. That might be the saddest thing in any of these books. Like, ever. And thats...a competition. THIS IS A WHAT HARROW WOULD BE IF SHED BEEN RAISED WITH LOVE AND NOT GUILT. 😭

2. What the fuck was up with Cam and Pal pre-Paul? They say theyre not lyctors, and the RB doesnt affect them, but they can heal and stuff, so its not just a normal possession (especially with the eyes).

3. How did G1deon and Pyrra end up sharing a body in the first place? Wht didnt they ever communicate in the 10,000 years? Did they do the same weird half lyctorhood that Cam and Pal have done?

4. How did Jod Get necromancy? In the dreams it just sorta appears after he spends time around corpses. Is he editing the story? Or is there no explanation for how magic suddenly became possible? Like. It seems like getting Jods backstory was gonna explain how necromancy actually works, what its source is, why no one had ever discovered it before. What the fuck is the River?

5. What Are the dreams. Like, is it just Harrow having hallucinations in the River? But then they wouldnt be accurate. Is Harrow going through Alecto/the bodys memories? Its pretty clear that sometimes Jod is talking about/to Alecto in the dreams, but he says Harrows name. Is this just the name replacing, and in actuality hes saying Alecto? Or was Jod also talking to Harrow?

6. What the fuck Was Alecto, why would everyone care about her. Is she the Earths RB, and so when hes talking about people not caring about her, they mean the earth? But that doesnt make sense, since the cryo project was to save people, not the planet.

AFTER READING: Okay so I think i was right here. But can someone please explain how John went full Jod? He killed everyone on the Earth, and used the thanergy to force the Earths soul into a body, yea? Then did some lyctor-esque bullshit, so he could use her soul as his fuel, and uses that to...do what exactly, I couldnt tell? Eat the thalergy from the sun and the other planets? Then rezed everyone on the planet, and gave them amnesia so they woulsnt remember he killed them? Also, does this mean jods lyctorhood is bases on thalergy rather than thanergy? Also, still unclear on how the cryo project was gonna save her in the first place? And how is the resurrection of the planets and sun still linked to Jod? ALSO, i think he lied at some point to Harrow, yea? Like. The reason he refused to resurrect some people isnt becuz of a great cost. He cant rez anyone if they died more than a moment ago, yea?

7. Why is 7 just...chilling in space? Is it because none of the lyctors on planet are acrual lyctors, so it cant find them, but irs attracted to them still? Why not just eat the whole planet? Dont RBs do that all the time?

8. Why can Nona understand the RB, and how was it possessing Judith? Im assuming Nonas big scream had to do with that. But like. How? What the fuck was 7 talking about?

9. How did they get Nona away from Jod? How did they lose Gideons body?

10. Why did Pyrra immedietly start cooperating with BoE? Hang on, how did She get away from Jod. Im assuming this will also answer the previous question.

11. What are Jods actual plans? Like, is he legit just trying to rule all of space? Seems like he should have an actual motivation for everything hes been doing. Maybe to save Alecto? But like. How? Also the fact that hes been so hands off and now hes "fragile". Like. This really does not come off as Either "generic tyrant" Or "guy with a myriad long master plan". What the fuck is going on?

AFTER READING: Is jods entire conquest literally just revenge because the source of those people are the rich ones that got away? Is he really That much of a whining baby? Has his entire myriad of life and manipulation of his loved ones been "avoid dying to the RBs, and take "revenge""?

AFTER READING MORE: Okay, follow up: what was jods actual plan (with the tomb)? Has he really become suicidal becuz of all his og friends are dead? If so, why the fuck did he kill Mercy? Why did he get Augustine killed? If hes actually this fucked up over it, it seems like hed have rather forgiven them. But also I dont think Ianthe misread the situation. So is he faking it? Is he trying to get Gideon/Kiriona killed? Why? What the fuck is going on?

12. What the fuck is wrong with Gideon/Kiriona? Like shes acting callous and a bit cruel and just...not Gideon. But she also seems to have similar goals as what Id expect. She really wants to find Harrow, she refuses to ever be constrained. Shes...vaguely helpful towards Coronabeth and Cam/Pal. She even makes the occasional funny dumb comment, and acts mostly like Gideon om the 9th But like. She seems...off. Shockingly, the Ianthe friendship tracks.

AFTER READING: Was that just Gideon after months of depression and repression? That still doesn’t seem right. I feel like Gideon wouldn’t break that fast, after 18 years under Crux. Especially like “the reverend daughter has no living cavalier” Gideon would Die before renouncing her cavaliership to Harrow. In fact, she did.

13. Are the numbers/chapters & verses of Jods backstory meaningful somehow?

14. Okay, so unless Ive missed count, theres like...4 (or maybe 5?) different types of lyctorhood? Theres the og method that kills the Cav. Theres Jods method where both survive in their own bodies. Theres G1deons method that haa both survive in the necros body (is this what Pal ans Cam were doing initially?). Theres the new method that combines both into a single person. And then maybe theres whatever the fuck is going on with Kiriona (unclear if thats lyctorhood or what). Also theres whatever Harrow did to leave Gideon in her body in HtN, which might have just been a shittier version of whatever G1deon did. Did I miss anything, get anything wrong? Also, what the fuck?

15. What do we know about what happened with Jod and Alecto after the resurrection? Like. They clearly had some sort of romantic relationship, but also she went murderbeast and he had to lock her up? Whyd she go murderbeast? And whyd he lock her up? It seems pretty clear Jod was never particularly stable. I mean, he did seem pretty set on saving humanity, but even still, seems very weird that hed agree to lock her up, given how much he loved her.

16. Okay, so Jod is insanely vindictive and fairly controlling. His paranoia explains why he didnt give the og lyctors perfect lyctorhood. But he seems to have genuinely loved them, and didnt seem cruel. Why not, like, one of the other types, that didnt require awful trauma? And why the other dickish stuff, like leaving Cytherea's illness and shit?

17. Huh, so pretty sure we got confirmation Harrow has always beeen schizophrenic, which is super cool. Now I wanna go back and read GtN and see if this changes my reading at all.

18. What else did I miss/not catch? Im sure there was a bunch of clues and info that I wasn’t smart enough to pick up on.

1. What the fuck is all this about the river and God not knowing about it? What the fuck is Hell? What are these devils? What the fuck?

- lucie will now be an antagonist lets be honest we all know it. necromancers are NOT good people and thats the path lucie chose for herself by wanting to save jesse

- someone major will die idk who it is yet, but my instincts tell me its matthew or alistair. the second wouldnt make sense tho – if alistair dies, how would the carstairs line continue down to emma??? hopefully itll be tatiana that bitch

- jamie x daisy its inevitable guys, have you seen the snippets? im rooting for them theyre perfect

- thomas and alistair are NOT gonna end up together this was a gut feeling when i wrote it but as of jan 5 i have a legible reason as to why they would not be happy and its the next theory

- IM SCARED THOMAS IS GONNA DIE the “found family tree” says that thomas died TWO YEARS before barbara. i understand cassie has repeatedly stated that its been manipulated (she hinted that it was changed by the silent brothers) and isnt reliable. but isnt that disturbing?? esp considering theres at least part of it thats reliable, and thats the fact that alistair will 100% go on to marry a woman despite being gay. if alistair doesnt have kids, and cordelias children are all herondales, then the carstairs family would die out and emma would not be related to jem (even tho its been stated that they are related by blood). “oH bUt SoNa iS pReGnAnT mAyBe ShEs GoNnA GiVe BiRtH tO a bOy” first of all, theres a chance the baby is born a girl second of all, the baby might die third of all, where is the son on the family tree? fourth of all, SONA IS, ACCORDING TO THE TREE, DEAD BEFORE THOMAS. PLEASE.

- matthew will open up abt his secret its like a routine at this point, in every shadowhunters series. a character has a secret that nearly kills them outta despair, they open up to friends, theyre met with love and support. jace loving his “sister”. wills “curse”. emma and jules’ relationship. ty bringing back livvy. alec being gay. you get used to it lol

- either lucie or matthew would have their marks stripped lucie for attempting/committing necromancy, and matthew because sobh said he doesnt have a specified death date (also i think cassie just hates him)

- matthew and cordelia ARE going to kiss at one point HOL’ UP I DONT SHIP EM, i think its gonna be a climon kinda thing where they kiss and dont like it as much as they thought they would, and end up deciding to stay friends i think thats the best way cassie could deal with matthews crush on her without breaking anyones heart, i hope to god it wont be like him confessing and her rejecting him plz oml

I'm so hyped for the next chapter, I can already see my MC, someone who really are a "Kuudere stereotype" (more or less he is a "serious and sarcastic type of character who is often cold, blunt, and cynical without showing any signs of emotion". But this is all facade, inside they are very affectionate, at least when it comes to their loved ones) losing his shit with all the things happening and busting in flames and drama because:

The worst of all? I know im going to feel so bad about Milo that, surely im going to choose the meaner option only to know the way he will react but then im going to go back and choose the better option for his mental health cause, lets be honest, the poor guy needs not a therapy, but a whole psychological office, poor baby boy.

PS: Malcolm is the sexiest, charmer cutest boy ever and every time he talk my MC simp, a lot. I loved the head?canon about him talking with the lamp lights and now I cant stop thinking about it

That was for sure a bug! I got it all fixed up for the next update. Kicking myself that that one got messed because the "I'm sorry" portion was kind of important for a future romance. But! I guess that's why we have wips. LOL

I like the headcannon MC you got going. That is awesome. And oddly works really well I think for a Milo romance. I think Milo needs someone that can put him in his place occasionally and who is not afraid to call him out on his bullshit. In chapter twelve, it is going to much more be about getting the information he is holding back. There are going to be some moments to get angry with him but there is a lot going on in the last chapter that it won't be the focus. But I promise you, it is going to happen in book 2. There is no way Milo could even be in the game anymore without a confrontation of some sorts. I'll let the reader handle how they would like to see that confrontation but it will be there.

New Story Update: Some Predictive and Assorted Thoughts

hi ive had so many big thinks about the update coming on thursday so heres whats been going through my head regarding some predictions and hopes (mostly about choco and cacao so if thats your cup of tea come drink this up)

this is a super long post and there are some very minor spoilers (just stuff on affogato) under the cut so fair warning

design and aesthetic

ok im just gonna say it the art/design team put their whole cookussy into the direction and style of the environment/aesthetic. like maybe its just because im a slut for lonely castles (which is why i loved the vanilla kingdom location so much) but holy fuck dude the design of the cacao castle really scratches an itch in my brain. i just fucking. adore everything about the art from what we seen and im fully expecting to be blown away by the final product upon release. i am screaming. i am crying. dont even get me started on what i assume to be the title screen thats been floating around the internet because holy fuck. the composition. THE COMPOSITION. i am such a WHORE for composition theory and it gives me so many vibes i cant even explain. oh the themes of life and death and how they intertwine and compliment each other and how you cant have one without the other and i am. a nerd for this shit. okay so basically in conclusion i will kiss everyone in the devsis art department.

ok so there hasnt been a ton of leaks or info surrounding caramel arrow, and im assuming theyll actually be released later into the season (maybe with an episode 14? who knows) but tbh im kinda looking forward to see what part they play, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY WERE THE MYSTERY COOKIE IN CHOCOS FLASHBACK???? like holy fuck im so interested in that and who they are in relation to the royal family. from what im seeing it looks like theyd have a captain of the royal guard type of deal?? like a sworn protector thatll probably be the antithesis of affogato?? idk whatever the deal i hope they dont get sidelined because i really want to know whats up with them.

the licorice sea

for those who dont know, according to the artbook, the “licorice sea” is apparently a big threat to the kingdom, but the choco wall kinda keeps it at bay. recently the crk twitter posted this

which is more than likely the aforementioned licorice sea. so my thoughts on this is that. it goes hard. like what the actual hell is going on here i want to know so bad. will licorice have anything to do with this. i think thatd be cool as fuck. like he rolls into the kingdom and hes like “yeah i choose fucked up necromancy today.” idk not a lot of thoughts on this but im very curious indeed yes.

CACAO AND CHOCO: TWO HALVES OF ONE JAM SWORD

alright, heres the big part of my thoughts and hopes, so buckle in if youre willing to give this a read.

obviously, a big part of this update (or, what im hoping, anyway) is an exploration of choco and cacaos relationship both in the past and as it stands now. i know theres a chance for the narrative to completely disregard this in favor of focusing more on a “present problem” narrative, that being whatever the hell is going on with the licorice sea and the problem of affogato cookie, but i digress. i think i speak for the whole of the fanbase when i say that we desperately want a closer inspection on the royal family and how it plays into the story and the characters.

SOME CONTEXT FIRST

so, in the art book, the dark cacao denizens are described as follows:

"Harsh climate doesn’t make for a developed sense of humor. What the Dark Cacao Cookies genuinely excel at is combat. From a young age they learn weapons or martial arts. When the time comes, an apprentice finally receives a sword to defeat a wolf on their own and complete the coming of age ritual. and although the Cookie was allowed sweet cocoa or delicate milk chocolate, it is only bitter food from this point on. The Dark Cacao consider bitter food a constant reminder of perils and death. As a result the Cookies are not afraid of crumbling, but rather despise dishonorable living."

"Having to cope with dangerous beasts and a harsh climate that makes farming extremely hard, all Cookies of the Dark Cacao Kingdom undergo rigorous combat training from a young age. With peril always lurking nearby, the locals tend to cultivate asceticism and abstain from pleasures."

keep this in mind as you read, as my thoughts stem from these cultural lore tidbits.

RANDOM THOUGHT

i just want to point out that the art book directly mentions “asceticism,” which, for those who dont know, is a form of not partaking in pleasures. the thing that really makes me curious, however, is that the word is specifically about sexual/sensual pleasures. i have exactly two thoughts on this:

1. are you telling me the cookies have sex

2. so like is it a shunned thing to have children?? assuming the cookies do, in fact, reproduce sexually??????????????????

(OKAY I KNOW IT PROBABLY MEANS SOMETHING MORE ALONG THE LINES OF “THE COOKIES DO NOT HAVE ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH ONE ANOTHER” BUT MAN!!!! WORD CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

THEIR RELATIONSHIP IN THE PAST

so theres been an image from the art book floating around for quite some time:

and many are hoping to finally receive some context for it. here are my thoughts on it: dark cacao was not a traditionally “loving” father. thats not to say that he was ab//sive, just that he was more than likely emotionally absent, if we are to believe he upheld the commonplace behavior of a dc citizen as described in the art book.

so honor is a big thing in this society, and, according to the art book, death is literally preferable to living in dishonor. so, some thoughts (take a shot every time i say thoughts) and headcanons that will probably be obliterated once this update rolls out:

dark choco did not excel as a child. he wasnt a “failure” by any means, though. he was perfectly average in his studies and activities, but average doesnt cut it for the kings son. while already dismissive of the prince with his kingly duties, cacao only grew colder towards his son when he couldnt live up to his wild standards. young dark choco, seeking out the love and nuturing from his father, only received a cold, emotional barricade.

so he trained. and he trained. and he trained. dark choco was never seen without a sword or bow in his hand. he won tournaments. rescued villages. vanquished threats. the citizens loved him; saw him as a great hero. cacao did not see that. his son had yet to prove himself worthy of his title. no matter what choco did, nothing pleased his father. he eventually rebelled against his father, so set in his ways, claiming change was what they needed. cacao dismissed him as immature and not knowing what he was talking about. so one day he set out on a self-imposed journey to finally prove that he was a hero. a sword of great power lay somewhere. a sword that would give choco the edge he needed. i think you can figure out what happens from here.

THATS MY STORY PREDICTION!! IT WILL PROBABLY BE COMPLETELY WRONG BUT DAM I THINK ITD BE A GOOD ASS ARC!!!!!!!

THE PRESENT

choco and cacao: the line in the sand

as pessimistic as i can be (see my prediction bingo) i do believe the royal family will come to a clash in this story. and boy. they can either make this amazing or completely fuck this up. there is no in between. heres what i think both outcomes would be:

THE FUCKENING

a lukewarm reconciliation is exactly how you fuck this up. i will be real here:

dark choco should not be redeemed here.

yeah, i said it. but, do take note about how i said he shouldnt be redeemed here. i wouldnt mind seeing a redemption for him. eventually. just not quite in this arc. you see, this is a great place to begin the redemption. to sow those seeds of doubt into chocos head that maybe, just maybe, his path is not a linear one. a rushed redemption is poor writing and not satisfying at all, especially for a character like choco. he seems the type to strictly convince himself that the world is black and white and that you are either one or the other. he needs to start seeing those shades that fall in between, but slowly through his arc. all it would take is a bit of apologetic dialogue, a hesitation, or even a sabotage to his own team to save the heroes. something that gives him that fork in the road, but not something that shoves him down a different path. as the chapters continue, he should eventually find the freedom to throw away his map and to wander to where he desires. meeting his father again should just be a catalyst for this pivotal change to begin to grow.

CONCLUSION

familial trauma is a touchy subject. it is one to be handled maturely and with care, not something to throw under the table and heal through a couple half-hearted apologies. i hope the narrative team can deliver something reflective of the delicacy of this subject, and not just throw it all away because they said sorry and hugged and made up. i also hope they dont just... not give us anything on the matter. its an integral part of these characters, so to see it go to waste would be heartbreaking. i believe they are competent enough to at least give us something worthy of our time, something developmental to these characters who really honestly need the arc. im putting my trust in that.

so, with that being said, i suppose ill see you all on the 24th.

There is this other anon upset about Aline... I understand that they are kids but those kids were JERKS (they made Helen cry, well, the only jerk was Dru, we read her POV, Tavvy did not know better)... of course, my opinion would be different had Aline called out Ty but she didn't 💁🏻‍♀️. Let's not justify shitty behavior. We can understand where it comes from, yes. But that does not give a free pass to hurt others. Also, Aline was not abusing anyone and she even fed them.

everything youve just said…..is so wrong i dont even know where to start.

these small children, dru included, were not “jerks”. they were going through an awful time which yes, means they were not behaving perfectly or being entirely respectful, but not just for the sake of it. not to be “jerks”. they were suffering and having a hard time adjusting to the simultaneous loss of livvy and julian, and were understandably having a hard time adjusting to helen being the one to fill that space. im not saying they shouldnt have been perhaps nicer, but really, they didnt understand the effect their actions were having on helen, and again, were going through such a hard time, that it’s understandable that they werent all sunshine and rainbows. the point is, helen and aline were the adults of the situation and should have recognized children acting childish and acted like the bigger people.

next, your opinion should not be different had aline been talking to ty. hell, some of the time she was talking to ty, and that’s okay. ty is autistic, he isnt clueless. of all the children, ty would understand the situation best because he’s the oldest. not to mention, just because he isnt neurotypical, he shouldnt get special treatment(at least, in this case, i understand this wouldnt apply in all cases). i cant speak from personal experience, because im not on the spectrum, but i do know and hangout with a handful of people who are and what they want is to be treated the same. when we were little and caught doing something we werent supposed to? my friends who are autistic faced consequences just the same. especially for someone as functional as ty, who fully understands his actions, there’s really no reason that aline should exempt ty from repercussions had he also been acting out. that being said, if i recall correctly, ty was too distracted with necromancy to really be bothered with helen, so he wasnt doing much wrong in that respect. again, im sorry if i said anything wrong or offensive to anyone in this part. please let me know if i did because it was not at all my intention and i would like to sincerely apologize, learn, and correct myself if i did.

to be clear anon: no one is “justifying shitty behavior” or “giving a free pass”. yes, the behavior the children exhibited was shitty. guess what? so was aline’s. and at times, so was helen’s. lets not justify their shitty actions either because they exist. but that’s honestly okay. everyone is a shitty person. people can slip up. not do everything perfect once in a while. example a: cassandra clare wrote qoaad. kind of shitty behavior if you ask me but we’re all still gonna be reading her books. prime example of shitty behavior exhibited, but ultimately ignored so we can get the rest of the books understood and forgiven

lastly….the worst one. the one i dread. the one my poor head, does not wrap around. “Aline was not abusing anyone and she even fed them.” i would first like to preface by saying, i specifically said that i was not saying aline was abusive. actually, my exact words were, “i dont think aline is cruel or a monster who hates children or anything,” so the sense of me not calling her abusive was there. all i said was the kids were also going through a hard time, perhaps aline could have been just a tad nicer at certain times. not all the time. the kids certainly did need some reprimanding when she gave it to them in some scenes. however, there were just a few times that i felt she was being a little too brutal, which is, again, understandable considering what she was also going through. i still love both aline and helen with all my heart but i can still acknowledge that there were points where they could have handled the situation differently is all.

and now for my favorite part of this whole ask that deserves its own section:

i think this might give me nightmares tonight. anon, i think that we should clarify something. a few things, actually. one, feeding children is like,,,the barest bones of taking care of them. the barest. im sorry, but aline feeding the children does not impress me. perhaps, the other ways she took care of them did, but i cant exactly say it was the act of her giving them food that wowed me. next, even if someone was abusing children, they could still feed them???? it still counts as abuse, that doesnt cancel it out asdfgvhb let’s all jot this down so we dont forget because OOF

what is it with me and characters who never show their emotions on their face or in their voice but act exclusively based on them??? like theres this very specific anime trope of a white haired character who is stoic as fuck but instead of making rational decisions motivated by human people logic they do 100% self-destructive things based on curiosity / love / sense of duty / whatever the fuck else and in the end they appear to be missing precisely one emotion and that's self-preservation (yes self preservation is totally an emotion look it up) Akise is that exact trope and I LOVE IT SO FUCKING MUCH meanwhile, Yuno is having trouble feeding an unconscious prisoner... what an unexpected problem that could in no way be foreseen. let me guess: she's going to try to wake him up so he can swallow his damn katsudon ah no instead Hinata intervenes. hon SHE BEAT HIM UP AND TIED HIM TO A CHAIR HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK SHE CARES IF HE WANTS KATSUDON. what made you think speaking up was a good idea here

theres a meme of 'ask someone whos not in the fandom to interpret whats going on in this picture' but you know i think random ppl would identify this situation 100% correctly +- who Hinata is to Yukki. this anime is a cultural icon "Aren't you Yukiteru's girlfriend? Can't you tell?" I love the moon logic this anime operates on, that people inside it are forced to work within. Hinata knows how to put it in the one and only way Yuno would be willing to engage with it, ha. OH HEY THAT'S CLEVER I like how Yuno goes between 100% self-delusion about Yukki and painful 100% sane clarity about the horrible stuff with the other option being relatively normal interactions with Yuuki, memory suppression about murders and cheerful willingness to kill anyone for Yukki I think that second option really is better for her long-term )= you two do you realize she hears you as well maybe shut up okay no not really -I- know she's thinking because of the camera movement and stuff, -they- don't aaand she laughs. i dont think anyone (other than Akise I guess) saw this coming okay yeah looks like the gamble failed. the mind-preservation instinct of retreating into delusion overpowered the more mundane concerns so that's totally ventilation up there huh. Hinata and Yukki are both tied up so I'm not sure what they can do together behind Yuno's back but I know a foreshadowing shot when I see one for all that this anime keeps genuinely surprising me with twists, it does take care to make the events easy to follow, and I like that this is Quality Storytelling

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 31 Review.

You know I think being dead did a number of Kuroto’s sanity even more than dangerous zombie did. Maybe being revived left him with a few brain cells missing cause I swear he hasnt been this wacky before. This episode brought the laughs, the tears and the holy shit moments, I’d go as far to say its my favourite episode just in how well it pulled off all three of those without much effort. I super love the idea that Kuroto is even more full of delusion since he came back and him constantly trying to beat Para-DX just out of insane grudge holding is great. I super loved this episode.

Taiga shows he is still out for Graphite’s data and he might get the chance next episode since they are being drawn into a showdown and FINALLY YOU FUCKING TAKE THE TEAM UP IDEA. It took 31 episodes but finally finally he is accepting the idea that he cant do it by himself. I think it was all Nico giving him a shot of character development.

Nico didnt do much this episode except beat another bugster proving once and for all customising your gear when you have the Jobber gear makes you no longer a jobber. Seriously the other ride players are still terrible.

Hiiro is breaking my heart, the man wants to see his girlfriend again so badly he was charging off to fight alone just so he could get what was needed to do it. Hiiro really embodies the Knight gashat he was given gotta save the girl. I really think he has come such a long way since the first time he showed up. It honestly eclipses any character development Necrom and Spectre got by a long shot.

Pallad today learned an important lesson, DONT FUCK WITH POPPY! Seriously it is getting great to see him getting his shit kicked in every now and again proves he isnt so invincible after all. His childishness when Kuroto comes back to life and reveals he can de-level him is hilarious.

Poppy is the data of Kuroto’s mum! I CALLED IT, but yeah this episode was super emotional for her and makes me sad she has such a shitty father in Genm but despite that she still wants him to reform in spite of the terrible terrible things he has done. That hug moment was tearjerking.

Kuroto is....strange this episode, he seems to go between determined to kill Pallad to making fun of everyone for thinking he isnt a dickbag in a matter of seconds. His moments with Poppy though gives us a glimpse behind his insanity and maybe after all he did create the gashats and the bugster to help humanity, he just lost sight along the way after losing his mother. His protection of Poppy was beautiful, the man who took from others without a care giving (one of) his lives for her was actually a sign we might get a little bit of reform from him. I dont think it will be a full reform though the guy still calls himself god after all.

Emu’s distrust of Kuroto shows that yes you can teach a intern new tricks, its a far cry from wanting to save him but I think deep down he still wants to its just Kuroto came back from nothing and took it not as a second chance but a continuation of his dickary. Emu as a doctor puts value that all lives are one shot things and thats what makes them precious, so when Kuroto comes along and just blatantly flaunts he cheated death, yeah it would feel like a slap across the face. Also Kuroto has a fucking history of shitting on Emu’s ideals so there is that.

I super enjoyed this episode and it shows what solid writing can do for a series, Ex-Aid is something truly special and if it keeps up it might be one of the best even. I really think so.
