#pls feel free to disregard this is gonna get sappy for just a sec #i've just been thinking about december 31st last year #went to visit some family i hadn't seen in a long time and i had been actively applying for jobs for like six months #i was miserable everything about it was miserable #and these relatives in particular have always been so supportive of my dreams like. pursuing an english degree #working in publishing working with books #and i remember one of them saying how it had been six months and it may be time to look into something else just to get something #keep trying for publishing but also you need a job so maybe take something you don't want in the meantime #and how deep that cut being from someone who had so strongly supported me for years like #maybe i just needed to pack it up and give in and do something i didn't want because i needed the money #at that moment i was interviewing for my current job and working on an edit test #and a couple weeks later i got an offer #and it has been a year of ups and downs but i love my work literally so much #i have the kindest boss and work with a wonderful team of women and it's just. it's everything i could have ever asked for #even when it's stressful and difficult #and idk that feels significant to me #right as i was about to give up i got exactly what i wanted and so much more #2023 was a lot in so many ways but i will always be so grateful for this year and everything it's given/taught me

it really does suck a little to see the severe likes-to-reblogs ratio that happens so often on people’s work like i get for my edits they’re either niche or mediocre and i get that going in but if it still bothers me a bit then i can only imagine how frustrating and hurtful it is for people who genuinely want and need the engagement, who are genuine artists and creators.

like, seriously, is it THAT hard just to hit the reblog button? it’s literally right next to the like one. and i get that people like mobile tumblr more now (for some batty reason), but it still doesn’t take much effort. just two taps. so?? just reblog people’s work if you actually like it, bc we all know you’re not liking it to keep it on hand to interact with later.

#manager is salaried n has to schedule himself a certain amnt of hrs i get it #store only gets so many hrs to divide betweent he rest of us tho #last night he complained to me abt bringing in ppl from other stores to help #so i asked if we were over-hrs n when he said no i was like then bruh pls schedule me more #esp if you need more hands this weekend n im not doing anything anyway #he said hed think on it so i checked today only to see that #hes lengthened his closing shifts so instead of being scheduled til 10 (when we close) its til 4am #and now we are officially out of hrs and wtf wtf wtf aaaaaaaaa #if you never clock in anyway then why schedule yourself such an excessive amnt when you could give hrs to ppl to show up n work???? #not a soul will be in that store between 11p-4a but thats 5 hrs someone could work a regular shift that they cant now #this is SO exhausting im tired of never having enough money to completely pay my electric bill #esp when i know i could be scheduled 20+ hrs a week and he just wont #personal
