It’s a big day for kalos fans, let me ship post as a treat.

I love that pokemon masters keeps hinting and showing a glimpse past calems stoics, showing that he seems to have a thing for serena, which I cannot blame him- she is the human equivalent of a chantilly cake; a soft fluffy balance between sweet and fresh, elegant and sugary. She’s good at what she does and he respects her a lot for it even if he’s prone to self sabotage trying to get on her level (parental issues being raised by tournament veterans)

And it’s not just these moments, this dynamic is deeply embedded into their rivalry and shows in every iteration of their existence. The manga, the games, masters, and maybe even the legends Z game counterparts we will see next year-

in the manga Y (Serena’s counterpart) is the only member of their friend group who didn’t give up on X (Calem’s counterpart) when he shut himself away in a depressive episode, she tried to talk to him everyday, brought him food, and even in her frustration never gave up on him; and ultimately it’s her stubborn support that brings him back out of his shell in the end. In the games they’re bond is so dorky and precious- they tease each other, they bicker, they banter, they’re rivals through and through, but ultimately it boils down to one truth; they are both recklessly protective over one another in the face of team flare, and rivalry turns to teamwork, and they couldn’t have done it without each other.

There’s such a heavy emphasis on the mutual respect they hold, both wanting to better themselves for each other even though the other thinks of them so highly. Calem would utterly worship her if he weren’t so spooked by his own vulnerability, they both have struggles, but they both have a patient understanding of balance to work.

They balance each other. Cheerfully angelic and stoic aloofness, yet they understand each other wordlessly, work with muscle memory coordination, feel each other’s feelings. Much like life and death, happiness is found in balance.

If only they weren’t so oblivious to the way they treat each other like a romance novel.

What if the Pokémon protags had Digimon part 2?

So in masters Nate just has Braviary so…

I ran out of ideas for armor evolutions and Hawkmon’s are obvious. Nate also uses the tried and true Masaru method of evolution.

First off this second part took so long exclusively because Calem’s was an absolute nightmare to decide. Both him and Serena have Fennekin also Serena has Greninja. Also Serena is the protagonist which complicates things more…Anyway so I wouldn’t end up pulling out my hair I just decided that Serena has Fennekin like her anime counterpart so Calem has Froakie. Ninjamon is an abomination and the frog Digimon suck so I gave him the other ninja Digimon.

I guess he gets an Xros Loader so considering how evolutions are in Xros Wars he may well go straight from Falcomon to Ravemon.

Unlike Calem he was much more simple because he only has one sync pair. I’m also imagining that his super ultimate form comes about from Ultra Necrozma’s influence.

Lucas took the only monkey rookie so I had to improvise. I tried to resist the urge to give him Etemon as a joke because musical monkey and unfortunately I couldn’t help myself 😅. Also once again there is not a lot of super ultimates. Sorry Victor.

I haven’t finished watching Ghost Game so I dunno. Maybe Appmon could be used too.

Since this dude isn’t in Masters I just based his on Miraidon. It’s that simple.

I could have also gave him this guy though 🤣

Anyway I have overthought this silly idea and actually have a very solid au idea. Let me know if anyone wants to know about the silly au where Digimon exist in Pokemon. Also I was thinking that I’ll do the female protagonists and rivals in the future.

Calem wants to be a composer and, in fact, composed the Kalos Neo Champ theme from Masters in-universe. He also has a really good singing voice. He's a music nerd in general.

Conversely, Serena can't sing for shit and shouldn't be allowed to.

Shauna unironically loves cheesy pop songs about love and romance.

The reason my Calem characterization differs from common fanon is because XY gave us so little to work with i ended up taking a lot from his manga counterpart, X.

Notably that one scene where Trevor gets hit with the realization that because X was a depressed shut in he’s very easily overstimulated which comes with an added benefit of heightened senses, which- when your up against team flare- is pretty useful.

I think about this a lot. Too much actually- I reread XY way too often
