Prints for Palestine at Pratt Institute! Pratt is located in Brooklyn, NY at the border between the Jewish neighborhood of South Williamsburg, the rapidly gentrifying Bedford-Stuyvesant, and the gentrified Fort Greene. As such, we've seen a richly diverse array of voices weighing in on the conflict, but those in support of Palestine have been truly inspiring. As a member of Palestinian Youth Movement on campus said, "this is one of the most intersectional movements this campus has ever seen." On this day of International Solidarity with Palestinian People, we created silk screen designs demanding a permanent ceasefire and printed them on students' clothes and bags for them to wear and show their support. “I’m wearing a knit coral shirt with shell buttons. I love the lettuce hem and the ribbing at the waist. The skirt with the gored seams give it a silhouette that I think works nicely with the top. My accessories are wide ivory ribbons, an angel pin and pearls from my grandma. I am inspired by 50s youth fashion, especially what rockabilly artists, & western artists wore to perform. Music and dance is what inspire me the most, especially swing dance culture of the 20s-60s. I always love ribbons, so collecting different trim that I can wear or add to my clothes is something I really enjoy.”

“I'm wearing a random compilation of thrifted pieces. Nothing consciously inspired my outfit, that I know of. I just want to dress in this certain kind of way of which I can only say is ironic. I decided to wear this ’I love Jesus' scarf as a cape to a runway show with my piece in it, which reflects my Judaism. Wearing this kind of outfit brings happiness to people and makes them laugh – just by throwing on 2 comfortable strange pieces, why wouldn’t I do it? I'm glad people get to enjoy it, I laugh when I see my reflection.”
