I don't have exact tips for contacting your personal guardian angel as I don't actually work with my personal one! I acknowledge that they are watching over me and trust their work, though.

I do want to offer something! So here's this:

CONNECTING WITH YOUR PERSONAL GUARDIAN ANGEL

🌟 Express your gratitude for their presence (in the same vein as acknowledging their part in your life). Recognising the angels in your life can help them connect with you and show more prominence in your life. They wait for our invitation as we have free will!

🌟 If you want to do a little something for them, light a candle and dedicate it to your personal guardian angel. It can be a tealight or something bigger. You could always get a large candle and light it at a frequency that works for you (nightly, weekly, monthly).

🌟 Expanding on the previous idea, you could make a bit of a ritual out of it. Light a candle, dedicate some incense, and say a prayer to thank them for watching over you.

🌟 Research about guardian angels! It tends to be a great devotional act or a way to connect with the angels. There are different interpretations of what guardian angels are in our lives. For example, some believe each has their own name. I consider this very likely though don't endeavour to try and figure it out

🌟 Decorate your space with angelic imagery or objects. This is a general tip for letting angels know your space is safe for them and that you would like them in your space and life

somehow the gods always make a return or they were always here because in my years of exploring all these different belief and magical systems, it all comes back to hermes and hekate!

hermes came to me when I finished high school, and that was when I was learning about independence and having adventures in life. not being boring and having fun. and also such a great inspiration as i began my undergraduate studies in communication

over time the connection to helpol and hermes faded. I always kept him in mind, had his imagery around, kept my blog name the very same (yes, hats off to hermes indeed!)

one of the key things i've found in my worship of the gods is how i wish to worship them because of the values they embody. i continue to carry everything hermes has taught me with me, from how my life has changed to even the foundations of hellenic polytheism when i first learnt about it

now we're here, a few years later.

Hekate entered my life (or made herself more known).

I look back to the post I made years ago wondering if Hekate was around due to what I noticed. At the time I felt young and intimidated.

Now I am still young and intimidated but at least more ready. Ready to embrace what I feared years ago and ready to return to the roots that really allowed me to find community and establish good habits when it comes to a faithful practice.

The time I have spent with Hekate so far has been incredible. Truly she is an inspiring goddess of change and confidence. I could not imagine a better goddess to worship at this time of my life. In that, I truly appreciate the psychopomps in my life. The lovely Hekate and the winged Hermes.

Maybe that means I'll be more inspired to write on this blog, even for a little while longer once again

💜 On a similar note, ask for his guidance in what to do if panicking or anxiety props up again. You may gain inspiration in what methods will work best for you

💜 Ask for him to make his presence known in unknown situations

💜 If someone is having a difficult time, you can ask Zadkiel for his presence to help the situation

💜 If you often self-sabotage, Zadkiel can be there for you

💜 If you need help releasing guilt, you can ask for Zadkiel's assistance

💜 Being merciful and forgiving towards yourself is the first step towards being more merciful and forgiving towards the world. Remember this message and bring it with you

💜 Zadkiel can teach you about seeking freedom from the choices you make

💜 Journal to Zadkiel with your worries and let him handle them. He is a strong angel that can lift you up and be alongside you to conquer your world

i've heard angels are known to be more ruthless and generally more difficult to work with than demons. would you say this is true/how would you describe your experiences working with angels? (i apologize if this has already been asked)

Different systems have different understandings of how the angels are. Some recounts of angels may even be related to some demon occult work, like in Solomonic tradition. Though some see them as benevolent guardians who serve humanity

I believe it depends on how you want to work with them. What kind of relationship do you seek?

The universe is not so simple to categorise or describe. The experience of one practitioner could be different from another, but there is no right or wrong because for us to understand the totality of the world... well our mind may explode

Here are a couple examples of practitioners:

A ceremonial magician who works with and may be contracted in a working relationship with archangels may find that these archangels are more ruthless and serious. They may ask for more in return or may subject you to more difficult circumstances for you to gain the knowledge or experience you seek.

A casual, but religious practitioner may learn about angels through their theology and appreciate their existence. Angels may not be as visible in their life, but may also help them in protection, or situations where you'd imagine a guardian angel

A spiritual person who honours or venerates the angels may have shrines and want to maintain angelic presence in their life. They may research a lot about angels and pray to them

For me, I'm a spiritual person who practices divination. I am religious in a wonky way that's about taking back my experiences and forming them into something that helps me. I work with and honour angels. I have a shrine with angel statues and collect angel-related card decks. I pray to angels and think of angels often. I like blogging about them and talking about them to other people. To me, they are powerful beings who provide protection and presence to me. They will not give me things just because I ask for them, but they still care for me since I'm a human. They will encourage my dreams, but we don't have a personal relationship

So there we go. Not everyone has the same experience and not everything is generalised, but I can say that you don't have to shy away from angels as they are multifaceted and it's up to you to explore your connection with them!

A Different Guide to Working the Rosary

If you're new, or wanting to see the rosary in a different light, you can start off praying the rosary prayers and considering what they mean to you. Break each line of the Hail Mary, Our Father etc down and allow them to be placed in a context understandable to you. You can research meanings as well, if it helps you.

This introspection will allow you to be meditative and welcome God, or Mary, or Angels into your life more.

Following this exercise, it will be easier for you to recite the prayers, like muscle memory. While the meanings are known to you, you can use the remaining capacity you have to meditate on specific intentions you want to pray for. You can dedicate one decade each to different intentions, or pray an entire rosary for one intention. By having done the first exercise, you can intertwine the prayer meanings with your meditated intentions.

Through the rosary, you are asking for Mary's intervention in prayer which can be better than simple prayer coming from you. It is often highly regarded to pray through Mary, the saints and angels, and can strengthen your prayers.

It's like a long, structured spell that is rather easy to learn with practice. You don't have to pray it with the mysteries if they don't resonate with your intentions (though you can look into them to also get an idea of their meanings and how they could apply to things youd pray about). Otherwise, you can pray about your specific intentions before each Our Father at the transition bead

Light a candle, offer a glass of water. You have a ritual right there (even tho praying the rosary can technically be a ritual on its own!)

Practice the rosary once a week. When you're well versed, you can try a 7 day rosary dedication. As an angel worker, I can recommend a day for each angel, Mary (and God if you want) alongside them. For example, Gabriel on Monday to assist with communication. Raphael on Wednesday for healing and safe travels. Haniel on Friday for self-love and being able to love others better.

Mother and Father as a means to connect with Divine Fem and Masc

An excerpt from 1 Thessalonians:

"But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us... For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory."

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8, 11-12

When reading this, I was reminded of masculinity and femininity and embracing it when it comes to spirituality.

Reading scriptures that call to mother and father images can help us understand how we conduct in the divine masculine and divine feminine, and embrace each one.

Along with that, it's not only about how you share the gospel, or how you literally tell people to walk with God, but how you act in light of his word as a human being.

As a mother does, we can affectionately wish for the best of the people around us. We can be ready to share our time, space and resources to help others. Like a mother would her child.

As a father does, we can call on others to walk a path of kindness, compassion, grace, loyalty and to be slow to anger. We can encourage them and enable good faith in how they conduct around others, which is not limited to sharing the word, but can be by our actions.

Hi! I’m interested in Christianity and I love Mary and the Saints and the rosary prayer, and a lot of Catholic traditions, but i’m queer and i also have a lot of huge problems with the Catholic church as an institution. I was generally under the assumption that you have to believe in the church to be catholic, but now i’m questioning this. Is it true? How do you reconcile this? How much distaste for the catholic church is too much to be catholic? is it not as bad as i’ve heard? (sorry if this is too much pls don’t feel any pressure to answer)

Hello there, I appreciate that you feel comfortable enough to ask me this and I'd love to help answer this.

Here's my answer: Being a Christian/Catholic, at it's core, is about your relationship with God, with Jesus, with Mary, with the angels and with the Saints.

True, the Church was established by Jesus and Paul when it came about, but free will and humanity has shifted the true values of coming together as a community in love and worship.

You may find some really great churches out there, but I want you to know that it's okay. I really attend mass on the occasion as a form of worship, and I like to sit in my city church because its peaceful and gives me a moment to speak to God, but I don't exactly believe in it as an institution.

You are okay to be Christian/Catholic even if you don't subscribe to the church like others may, because I sure don't. Feel free to go to church as a form of worship, for moments of quiet and meditation, but don't feel intimidated by what people have made it to be.

So Jophiel. She's not one of the "seven" in my own practice, but I'd be more than happy to talk about an archangel 💫

Archangel Jophiel

Jophiel (Jofiel, Zophiel, Iophiel, Iofiel, Yofiel, and Yofiel) is the "beauty of God" also seen as the "Angel of Beauty". She is also regarded as a companion to Metatron

You can petition her or pray to her for:

Seeing beauty in things (such as God's creation)

Seeing beauty in God (and his holiness)

Self esteem (seeing yourself as the divine see you)

Creative inspiration

Helping your thought patterns and addictions

Joy in life

Transformation

Considering this, her domains could be conflated with Haniel's (Anael, joy of God. Harmony, poise and grace) and Zadkiel (Sachiel, angel of Mercy. Who can help with stress, anxiety etc.)

But looking to her domains, you can consider her an Archangel of gratitude, perspectives and inner thinking. A great archangel for shadow work in combination with other angels (like Zadkiel, who according to the Zohar, helps her and Michael battle evil), a very strong contender as a transformer of negative to positive thoughts

Additionally you can consider her domains to be:

Wisdom

Spiritual and religious reading

Knowledge

As Jewish tradition notes that she is the angel guarding the Tree of Knowledge with a flaming sword (sword is also attributed to Uriel, and being a wisdom archangel can be conflated with Uriel) and so she is a guardian of knowledge. She is also said to oversee Sabbath day Torah readings

She has also been written to be the angel of the seventh heaven and guardian of the Torah, who also taught 70 languages to souls at creation

As a patron angel you can call her:

Patron of Artists and Intellectuals as the angel who can bring beautiful inspiring thoughts (also attributed to Gabriel and Uriel)

Patron of Recovering People, as she can bring joy and light after darkness (also attributed to Zadkiel)

It is said that Jophiel's colour is yellow (though typically I have my own associations with colours and angels. This is just a fun fact). Though it can make sense with yellows association with illumination, the mind, the element of air and all associations to follow

Her symbol and element is fire which is for her light, illumination of knowledge and the flame that leads the way

Living with Intention - Hermes Edition

Welcome to a new series I'm starting: "Living with Intention" where I compile lists of mundane tasks that you can infuse with intention for different deities or divine purposes. As a follower of Hermes, I'm going to start with him!

Are you about to order a drink from a cafe or Starbucks?

Let's order something with strawberries. How about that strawberry and cream frappe? A wonderful spiritual offering for the fleet-footed deity and a sweet treat for you.

Choosing accessories to wear for the day or maybe an outfit?

How about we choose something with the colours that you associate with Hermes. For me it's orange and red.

Need to remind yourself or someone else about something?

Make sure that message gets delivered! You wouldn't want to let that message go undelivered right? Be on your feet and do what you can to get this reminder across clearly and appropriately.

Along the same line, feeling a bit down?

Write a letter to yourself about what you enjoy everyday and about yourself. Letters are a great way to let our your feelings and Hermes can guide your writing.

Having a day out?

Embrace the wind and FLY. Fast, trickster Hermes is racing you, you better put up competition! Feel the wind against your face and smile. If moving isn't something you can do, feel the wind from a window. Hermes is laughing in the wind and racing it.
