I'm really sorry you have to deal with edelstans, Tumblr used to be a fun place but they target and harass people who don't like their waifu.

Marianne/Hilda and Ferdie/Bernie for the meme?

Thank you for the ask!

Okay, so Marianne/Hilda (cake). Their supports have cute moments and Hilda helps instead of lazing around for once. So it makes sense. But I'm pretty neutral on this. I don't dislike Hilda, she's a fun character to play, but I'm not her biggest fan either (I wish the issue of house Goneril's slaves had been adressed). Besides, I have plenty of other Marianne ships that I like better, such as Leonie/Marianne for f/f ships (idk they just look good together. I've thought about writing about them).

Ferdie/Bernie (bear) compells me a little more. I like Ferdie very much (I'm talking about his non-CF versions, of course. The rest can go straight to the trashcan). And I can see him have a positive influence on Bernie and I'm sure he would like her artistic side. But there's an elephant in the room and that's Bernie herself. I can emphatize with her anxiety and the abuse she's been through. But let's be honest: she's a badly written character. Her anxiety is played for laughs in a pretty disrepectful way. That's why I've tried to fix that in my fic (she will show up in later chapters).

So, I could be interested in it, but only if Bernie was written differently. A wounded young woman with an artistic mind finding freedom in a new environment, learning to heal and assert herself with the help of a gentle and solar companion? It has everything I could like.

I actually did it already! Ngl I got excited when Rhea said she was coming with the group I was like YEET IMA BE ON THE BATTLEFIELD WITH RHEA

and then Cyril came along too and I was like YEET IT'S THE BOI

but also poor Seteth talking about all the saints and stuff and Flayn saying they were close friends... It really puts into perspective that besides for Flayn and Rhea, he really has no nobody else prior to the start of Houses/Hopes. It makes the war even more bitter knowing yet another one could take away the last things he has.

It's also possible for Flayn to die on classic mode and I read the conversation you can get from that online, how Seteth has one about her and Garreg Mach if she died prior to you retaking it.

It always makes me sad how just because some people don't like some things Rhea does, the whole Church gets blamed for it and Seteth has to deal with it too. He's a good guy and doesn't deserve to go through more than he has already. ;n;

J'ai passé toute l'après midi à regarder leurs vidéos !

Super ! Je suis contente que ça t'ai plu et fait découvrir une chaine sympa ! Profite bien ! Leurs vidéos sont à consommer sans modérations ! C'est de la qualité et une valeur sûre comme chaine ! 😀 Le seul défaut, c'est qu'ils ne sortent pas de vidéo très souvent mais, ça permet de garder une qualité au top ! ^^

J'ai essayé de trouver d'autres chaines dans ce genre, et je suis tombée sur Selfie'storique qui semble être une bonne ouverture, même s'il faut accrocher au concept des personnalité historique en mode influenceuse.

Il y a aussi Histoire Appliquée qui est au taquet en archéologie, en histoire antique et en histoire de l'armement qui fait des vidéos très cools et accessibles ! Il parle autant d'histoire vivante, de reconstitution, que de films ou de curiosité archéologique alors, tout le monde peut y trouver quelque chose qu'l aime ! Il fait également des posts sur instagram dans le même style !

Sinon, y a aussi Histony qui fait vraiment des vidéos très qualitative mais par contre, faut s'accrocher vu qu'il parle face cam' tout du long avec pas beaucoup d'illustration mais, niveau connaissances, c'est du solide !

En tout cas, contente que tu es passé un bon après-midi avec cette chaine ! :D

You're five years late to the discourse. What's even the points of making a post about it? It's not like every single points you said has been discussed and refuted over and over either... You know if you had bothered to do some research you would know that I've been involved in discourse for a little while, though the last time I got myself involved in discourse was January. I haven't been as active as say RandomNameless or FantasyInvader, because I usually only make posts in response to stupid arguments that I see, and it just so happens that I happened to see someone arguing about how sad Edelgard was about "having" to kill Dimitri.

Unfortunately for you, my points haven't been refuted, because the fact is as I pointed out, it was ultimately Edelgard and Hubert's decision to work with Agartha and it is one of Edelgard's goals to conquer Fodlan, as is pointed out in the hyperlinks I provided as evidence.

Obsessed? You do realise that Ad Hominen attacks can't serve as the backbone of a argument, in fact trying to have ad hominen attacks serve as the foundation of your argument just makes it look fragile.

Recently, a localizer at Discotek (not a full employee, a contractor who signed onto the project for the experience) was blacklisted after they posted on social media some of the changes he made to the script of the show he was working on, Lovely Complex, talking about how much he and the other localizer hated the show. He literally said that the show sucked and if people enjoyed the dub, it was because of his work rather than the quality of the original script. That the original was written by a strange person, and that they rewrote it as the female lead as a psychopath and the lead boy as caught in a cycle of abuse. He accused the original script of being anti-trans because they made things up.

In Discotek's statement, however, they talked about how the dub was made with the approval and supervision of the show's original producers so that the product aligns with the intended audience and gets the intended response. However, the video I first learned of this from said that sometimes localizers can get away with stuff because the producers may not fully understand how the language used can be interpreted. Words can technically mean the same thing, but come off differently. And THAT reminded me of some of the changes made in the localization of Houses.

From Discotek's statement, if Treehouse follows similar practices (which, really, feels like it should be industry standard) then the reaction to Edelgard in the West shouldn't have been too different than the intended reaction in Japan. And, you know, I can argue that that is indeed the case. There are people who walk away from playing CF feeling that it didn't work as a hero route, that there was more to the story and within that greater context they played as the bad guy. But at the same time, I've always felt like some of the changes made were done sneakily. That Treehouse was trying not to get caught altering the script while at the same time using words that don't sound quite as negative to the English year while still technically saying the same thing (except where they outright remove stuff, but then again Houses does have a ton of text for it to be lost in). Then we look at how they tried to edit Bernie's support to be closer to the Japanese text only for the game to be hit with accusations of censorship.

To me, this seems like the likely scenario, possibly with this trickling back to Japan to play a role in the development of Hopes.

So yeah, Anon's just angrily ranting that Sothis doesn't care about her daughter which established a false religion, made people suffer for a millennia, and tried to violate the laws of life and death, which, when Ashera did it in Radiant Dawn, was treated by Caineghis as an utter betrayal of her supposed core attribute of order.

“A blasphemy, you mean! How could the goddess of order violate the most fundamental natural law?”

Stay salty, anon.

RN herself weighs in on it next. I'm gonna let her go on a bit because the actual argument she's making needs to be stated in full.

That's what baffled me in Tru Piss lol, and first route bias etc etc meant Sothis was unsalvageable given how it became painfully obvious, even for someone who didn't complete the other routes, that the goddess Rhea calls "mother" is Sothis herself ! Bear in mind Hresvelg Grey meant Sothis couldn't interact with the cast bar Billy, will never talk to her relatives and will never have any influence on the plot. It's as if Elbert only talk to Mark, while Eliwood is still frantically looking for him, and Mark never tells Eli where his dad is.

So here, RN is misunderstanding the point of Sothis in the broader narrative. Yes, Sothis happens to be Rhea's mother, but "being Rhea's mom" isn't her role in the story. RN, because she's a huge fan of the Nabateans, wants the story to be more about the Nabateans, but it really isn't.

See, there's a reason the Agarthans are dispatched in one chapter in all routes and are never the final bosses or the true villains of the story: the story isn't about them. They're important to its background, but they're important for what they represent and what they do, not who they are. The Nabateans are the same.

Ultimately, the story of Three Houses is a tale of the conflicts between mortals and the divine, and the differing ideologies espoused by those who represent those sides. Edelgard firmly represents the will of mortal humans. Rhea, her antithesis, represents the desire of the divine to watch over mortals. Rhea, unlike her species is important because she is Edelgard's opposite. Thales, who might have been Rhea's opposite, is not as important because he isn't: Edelgard already serves that role. Dimitri leans more toward the necessity of the divine in human affairs, while Claude leans more toward the self-governance of humans while using the divine when necessary. There's a reason Claude sides with the Empire when he must, and the church only when he can control it for the purposes of promoting humanism.

Byleth is smack in the middle, fitting their dual-nature as both human and god, but they must choose a side in the end. In CF, they fully embrace the human, while in SS they fully embrace the god. VW and AM are something more in the middle.

Sothis is similar in a way, as a being who was once a god, died, came back as something less than a god, and chooses to sacrifice her powers to Byleth, thus remaining something less than a god. Sothis willingly chooses not to resume her role as the goddess (in Zahras when she decides to give her powers to Byleth rather than taking Byleth's body as her own in order to escape), and so her role in the story is not to be the goddess or Rhea's mother, but to be Byleth's guide, setting them at the start of their path and then departing so they might make the rest of the way.

But Rhea BaD BaD BaD,

And now we dip into the anti-Rhea conspiracy theory...

so her mother cannot take over Billy (something she canonically does in Nopes) to save her,

Here's another fact RN can't accept - and she calls Sothis a horrible mother for it - but Sothis doesn't approve of Rhea. Furthermore, Rhea's downfall in CF is almost entirely of her own making. She set the groundwork for Fodlan's oppressive social system, she refuses to allow it to be reformed, and she never questions why anyone would disagree with her. Because, for Rhea, reforming the church and Fodlan means resurrecting Sothis and submitting Fodlan to her divine rule, which becomes impossible without her church (it's already impossible because Sothis knows her time as the goddess is over and she's respecting the laws of life and death, but still).

and to erase Supreme Leader who hilariously tells everyone she doesn't exist.

It's not even that "hilarious". Edelgard's right in that the goddess worshipped by the Church of Seiros no longer exists: she's dead, and when she had the chance to come back, she chose not to. The Church of Seiros might worship a being with the same name as the gremlin in Byleth's head, but Sothis the head-gremlin and Sothis the goddess are a whole life apart from one another, and the Sothis we know chooses to remain the former.

But now we get to the real meat of this post.

Fantasy Invader.

Oh yeah!

I think this is a translation issue as Japanese Sothis doesn't say that "the stone in your chest is gone," she says "the stone in your chest...shattered."

Teaspoon Translations has it as "crumbled away" and has no ellipse, but who am I to question Fantasy Invader trying to make things look as sad as possible?

It broke, which would mean something considering it's supposedly her heart.

We bwoke Sothis's heart by killing poor baby Whea T_T

What's more, the game changed Byleth's Nirvana class to Enlightened One, and part of achieving Nirvana is purging oneself of attachments that might cloud your judgement.

But only if it's Edelgard. If it's Dimitri or Rhea, attach yourself as hard as possible in the hope they come around.

Also, in the context of Three Houses, detachment is a bad thing. Byleth grows out of being the Ashen Demon through attachment to others. Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude become their best selves when they open up and allow others in. Attachment is a good thing in Three Houses.

Ergo, by playing Safflower (the route being named after a type of thistle, a path of thorns if you will)

Ah, yes, I remember that one. It wasn't very good.

No, because by then Byleth held her essence. Not the crude, physical matter Rhea shoved into their chest.

You'd think the person who goes all-in on religious symbolism would value the eternal soul over the ephemeral body.

Except it doesn't? Her essence, I mean, not the Crest Stone. That's what the S support is for.

But sadly, Fantasy Invader has a way to explain that away.

It's a really bad way, but a bad way is still a way!

yet she leaves behind the Sothis you knew.

I'm sorry, what. Nothing indicates the Sothis from her S support is some... bizarre cast-off shadow of her.

Sothis, the real Sothis, abandons Byleth at the end of Safflower, leaving behind any attachment she once held as Byleth walked down the path of the Beast as per Dimitri's comment.

I'm sorry, what. Is it too much to ask that FI provide some evidence for this claim? I mean actual evidence, not his headcanon derived from his poor attempts at analyzing Buddhist symbolism.

Wouldn't leaving behind a part of herself to remain with Byleth go against this whole no attachments thing? That's a pretty big attachment! And if Sothis rejected Byleth, why would she do that? She can't just make a clean break from Byleth, she has to literally detach the parts of her... soul... personality, that care for them? Wouldn't that make her an incomplete being? It was a bad thing in the Tellius games when Ashunera split her soul into parts!

Combine this with the implications Sothis can come back if she recreates her body,

You know, that thing she demonstrates no ability to do! If Sothis could just make herself another meat puppet to incarnate into, Rhea wouldn't have had to spend a millennia trying and failing to do that for her.

and why Nemesis needed to kill her when she was asleep,

Because she would have defended herself and killed him if she wasn't? He didn't have a Relic or a Crest back then, he was just a bandit trying to kill the most powerful Nabatean in the world.

What, is FI trying to imply Sothis's soul just got stuck asleep because she died asleep and that's why she never bothered to come back the first time she died?

and you get an idea what's going to happen when that occurs as well as another piece of evidence Edelgard is an Agarthan in all but name.

And there we go, "God's gonna get Edelgard for this!" Sothis will totally self-restore herself at some unknown period of time in the future, kill Bad Red Lady, and make everything right.

Well if that's the case, why do you bother getting upset at anything Byleth does, FI? Just be like those Christians who are sure Jesus is coming back any day now and he'll fix everything on Earth when he does.

So yeah, yet more salty desperate self-assurance that Edelgard's totally gonna lose the minute the credits start, trust me bro.

I mean seriously, if her detractors are so certain she'll fail, why bother getting upset when she wins? It really makes you think.

I don't play Heroes. I'm curious, how did IS retcon 3H?

You'd have to ask @randomnameless and @ezrahalam for a more detailed answer but if I recall IS often retconned concepts such as "the crest system in itself is bad" or abour Rhea and Eddie and also Hopes notably with F!Byleth being seeking revenge for the Nabateans rather then for Jeralt in the Fallen alt banner

I can't really comment on kinks and maybe I'm off the mark, but I think I read somewhere that the orientalism movement from the 1800s/1900s really overplayed the "sensuality" aspect of "oriental" cultures and the promiscuity -

Of course it's colonialist, racist and imperialist propaganda/bullshit, but sadly it still has repercussions nowadays - or in more modern times at least through movies, pop culture, books etc etc, like some people who still think real life harems used to be brothels, etc etc.

So while I don't want to say everyone who wrote hyper sexualised bottom!Claude fell for the orientalist propaganda... I'm wondering if some of those fics aren't partly written with a certain cultural bias.

I'm somewhat aware of that, though I've never looked into detail regarding it, but I do think you're probably pretty accurate on that as far as why people like Claude that way. If some people ended up writing something similar it probably would be due to influences, because a lot of stereotypes tend to be present in media enough that it leaks into people's views of other media. That is, it wasn't present in the Fodlan games, but I think other medias' existence probably influenced those takes with FE.

It actually sucks too because Claude is one of the few characters that gets stereotyped or put into ignorantly racist situations (i.e. people not realizing it's racist and not doing it on purpose).There's definitely a lot of overly exotic aspects considered in sensuality too, which mixes in with the fact that people seem to go a bit overboard on exotic culture with Claude/Almyra in general.

To begin with I hate stereotypes in media, but add to that sexual ones and my poor ace brain is like ?!?!?!, and then add to that when it doesn't actually fit the character and is only used due to stereotypes... yikers!!!

Most of my creative energy goes towards my second novel right now, but I do have a WIP sequel to my Fódlan x Pokémon crossover fic. This time there are mechs involved because I just can't stop myself from world-building overload.

Dorothea stopped putting on her gloves to give Caspar a wary look. Caspar stole a glance back, then continued putting on his jacket as though she had never looked. “I won’t be doing it.” Dorothea said, under her breath. “That’s probably for the best.” Caspar responded. He touched his mech suit, and Gengar controlled the mech to kneel down next to Caspar, extending a hand. Dorothea shot him a look. “No one should be doing it.” “It’s their choice.” “Maybe that’s the problem.” Caspar did not climb onto the hand his Gengar had so thoughtfully put out. “You want to take away their choice?” “Yes.” Dorothea responded. Her voice wavered. “Personally, I wouldn’t mind more competition.” Caspar tried to hide the grin that crept up his face.

Not sure who writes and who doesn't, but I'll tag a few people. Of course, no pressure, and it doesn't have to be writing. Just excited to see other people's work!
