The Many "Daeron the Daring's"
It’s actually really entertaining that everyone’s depiction of Daeron is different from fic to fic; like here are some characterisations I’ve seen since I got into HOTD.
He’s mentioned by name ONCE and then never spoken about again, to the point where you think that the author has just decided…not to include him and hasn’t deleted his mention, OR, you’ve just hallucinated the entire thing and since the fic is 20k you are NOT going to go back and check.
He’s super into the faith because of his mother and Oldtown.
OR!
He really couldn’t care less, but it would be too weird to leave any mention of the faith OUT of his character because he just gives off choir boy vibes for some reason.
Dead-in-the-narrative Daeron who just haunts either Aemond or Alicent.
Alive-in-the-narrative Daeron who just exists to get the civil war moving.
An Otto-fied Daeron whose traits are scarily similar to his grandfather because…someone has to bear Otto’s genes I guess?
The nerdiest nerd that’s ever nerded.
“Only included in letters” Daeron.
Has the closest relationship with Aemond due to faith stuff and/or Alicent stuff.
Super sassy and super sarcastic Daeron who is there to liven up the death and terror of war, and in doing so, he becomes strangely aware of the doomed narrative he’s in.
BAMF!Daeron who is competent at EVERYTHING and it weirdly works because no one knows what skills he possesses in canon anyway so yeah he can embroider what are you going to do about it?
A hot twink.
Duty, honour, and family Daeron whom you could place next to Jace and no one would be able to tell the difference between the two.
Just “Some Guy” Daeron.
Killed by a tent Daeron (usually written by a heavily TB author who you just know was hooting and hollering while writing that scene).
Alicent’s little boi, little lad, little darling.
The author’s favourite character, which you can easily tell from how early his introduction is, and how he deus ex machina’s his way through things that should’ve killed him.
A Daeron that is written so beautifully and so convincingly that in your head he’s your best friend and has made it into your top blorbo list despite not even having an appearance in the show.
I just love every version of this character, like idk it’s just a really nice Daeron the Daring ecosystem we have going on.

Wait I never got to Mass Effect 3; why is Javik so low on the tier list? :(
He's a DLC character, meaning he has little story impact despite being (SPOILERS) THE LAST LIVING PROTHEAN and having the busted ability to sense the emotions and memories of anything and anyone just by touching it. He comes across as a character that the staff got told to cut because they needed to make one of their characters paid DLC imo.
While he has more depth than I think ppl give him credit for sometimes, the whole "lol you races are all so primitive" thing can wear on you pretty quick if its done so often.
The people who see him in-game have the most understated reaction to seeing a Prothean and his Citadel side quest is the weirdest example. Some ppl go "Oh hey, I overheard what you were saying. You're a Prothean? Neat!" Like...motherfucker, this is the last survivor of the race that most people believe contributed ALL of organic race's original progress up to now and that's all you get?
I don't hate him, I like him alright and he has his charming moments (his perspective on defeating the Reapers at any cost makes total sense, and his voice actor is very talented). But he's a DLC character which means his contribution to the story has to not be integral despite who he is (a Prothean with the most useful ability in the entire series, the residual memory/emotion thing is so underutilized).

Stay
It's not easy for him. Vernon craves the touch of his loved ones (after everything, it's still strange to consider Iorveth as such). But he's dealing with it—had been dealing with it for years, with Foltest so close and yet completely unreachable.
Had he hoped (yearned) that things may be different with Iorveth? Yes. Does it bother him? Somewhat. But he'd be damned if he let it ruin their relationship after everything it took for them to find each other—and it makes him treasure the rare moments of intimacy all the more.
(Iorveth and Roche make assumptions about each other and about their relationship. It goes about as well as one can expect.)
written for @dapandapod
In many ways, Iorveth is like a big cat, Vernon figures.
He’s fiercely independent, comes and goes as he pleases and enjoys his solitude. (At times to the point where Vernon starts wondering whether the elf still lives with him, or just visits occasionally.)
He uses the windows as often as the doors when he comes and goes.
He brings home dead animals and drops them at Roche's feet. (Granted, that's a part of an unspoken mutual agreement—to Vernon's chagrin, Iorveth is just a much better hunter of the two of them. He's also a proficient butcher, but he prefers to leave the dirty work to someone else. The bastard.)
He sleeps in strange places. (The number of times Vernon had found him contorted on a tree branch, napping, is bewildering, and to make it even worse, Iorveth has the audacity to not suffer any joint pain or muscle cramps afterwards. He also seems partial to the roof and certain pieces of furniture—although Vernon is certain that the latter the elf does solely to fuck with him.)
And, of course, there's the way he reacts to touch.
