DSMP Place-Name Suffixes and Meanings
kind of maybe accidentally some prose? I DIDNT MEAN TO I SWEAR
L’manberg and Manberg———
The suffix, “-berg,” or, “-burg,” comes from the German word for castle or fortress. Since many castles ended up becoming starting points for greater civilization/urbanization, the suffix became almost a synonym for city.
L’manberg was a small patch of land, defined by it’s towering walls. It was built with the intent of protecting its inhabitants. It evolved, over time, to be a sprawling mess of homes and shops, roads and churches, museums, plazas- it grew to be a town. Open without it’s walls, a fortress no longer. Then, a crater. The citizens it swore to protect having fled, having abandoned it if they could, lest they help bring it down.
Pogtopia———————————
“Topia,” essentially just means any geographical place. It isn’s a civilization, town, city, anything, just a place. It could also be used to indicate a paradise.
This name feels like a sick irony. It was just a place. First, it was a campaign, a political group aiming for their version of utopia. Then, it was a ravine. It was a time period, defined only by it’s geographical separation from home. It devolved, festering mania and unwellness, self destruction and spiraling, all the while bearing the name of paradise.
Snowchester-————————-
When a place-name ends in -chester, it indicates a military camp or fort. Chester meaning, “place of soldiers.”
Snowchester itself was a last-ditch attempt at safety. It’s secluded and armed, the base of operations for nuclear weaponry. Truly, it was a place of soldiers. A place of Tubbo and Jack, two weary and sharp war veterans, trying to feel safe. Equally, it was a place of protection and family. Of, “I will be strong so you can be safe.”
Logstedshire-————————
Stead means, “enclosed pasture,” in Old English. A place-name ending in, “shire,” indicates that it is owned or governed by a government official. It is also the French word for, “county.” The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a shire as, “a town where a court of superior jurisdiction…sits.”
Logstedshire; an enclosed pasture. A plains biome, sprawling and open, but so muted. So closed. Confined. Trapped. A place of harsh discipline, with a, “superior jurisdiction,” looming over its lonely occupant. How mocking to call it a county, an extension of a homeland, when it’s sole purpose was to be separate from it. Enclosed pasture, ruled by a superior jurisdiction, with a feeble string tying it to L’manberg in the form of the title, “county.” Enclosed forevermore, harboring the abuse like a time capsule, ash and dust undisturbed.
Boomerville and Rutabagville—
“-ville,” is a suffix used to indicate a village/town, or in the Middle Ages, a farming community.
Two towns, built for the purpose of getting away from the chaos, of having a small, peaceful land. Built so the few inhabitants could say, “I live here, I work here, the sun is gentle on my front porch.” So far out of the way that no one would notice if they just…disappeared. No one would bother check. One town abandoned, one town robbed. Both lay empty, at the end of the day.

- He takes her to the ruins of L’manburg and tells her about Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur, Fundy and Eret founding the country. Then he speedruns telling her the story of Schlatt’s Administration and of Tubbo exiling Tommy. He doesn’t know what really happens, but Tommy comes back and Dream and Techno team up to destroy L’manburg (with a dragon, according to Karl)
- But they found out that it was actually Dream who was doing all these mischievous acts! Sapnap doesn’t know why, but he did. So Tommy and Tubbo went to confront him and get their discs back
- Everything everyone ever loved, Dream took. Dream was going to kill Tubbo – and if you die three times, you’re gone forever. But then, the avengers arrived – Sapnap and everyone else came and stopped Dream
- During this whole time, Dream was making a prison. And the irony of it all is that the prison was where they took Dream after the confrontation
Sapnap: “We will take you where Dream resides.”
Tina: “Dream’s house? His little home?”
- Sapnap misses Dream and it’s a sensitive subject. Tina suggests they say hi, but Sapnap explains that they can’t just see him. They have to schedule a visit
- They go to Pandora’s Vault. Tina doesn’t think they should just leave Dream there. Sapnap says there is not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about Dream, but Dream can’t be freed
- Sapnap tells Tina that he, Karl and George made a country together and they take her there. Karl whispers to Tina that he’s planning on scamming Niki, but to not tell anyone
- When they get to Kinoko, Jikishi joins VC. They go to the nightclub and Sapnap kills Callahan with rap. Karl and Sapnap offer the two newcomers residency in Kinoko
- Dream and all the Kinoko citizens are the only ones invited to Karl and Sapnap’s wedding. Karl also wants Sapnap to build a military
- Sapnap and Karl explain to Tina that Quackity is actually also their fiance, but he doesn’t live in Kinoko. Sapnap starts confronting Karl about why Quackity doesn’t live with them, and who was supposed to invite him...
- Tina gets a pet llama
- Karl and Sapnap return to Sapnap’s house to sleep. Jikishi and Tina talk about what they think of Kinoko. Karl then walks them back to the main area
- They go to the cat cafe and Jikishi puts on a catmaid skin. Karl shows them Party Park, Boomerville and Corpse’s house
- Karl thought he invited Quackity, who was the founder of their previous nation, but instead Quackity went off and made his own Seattle-looking nation. Tina wants to see it
- They discover HBomb and Niki’s cat cafe and try to steal the cats, but H logs on and scares them away
- They reach Las Nevadas. Tina is impressed, but Karl’s not a fan. He takes them over to Rutabagville
- On the cake path, Karl asks Bad if he wants to introduce the two to the Badlands
- Callahan is hungry at Kinoko so Bad, Jikishi and Tina go running back. Bad explains that Kinoko is actually encroaching on Badlands territory, and there may be issues. Jikishi pulls Tina aside and says he’s a bit scared at the sound of that
- Bad shows them Eret’s Castle and the animal sanctuary on the way. They get back to Callahan and feed him. Punz and Quackity join VC and they tell Quackity that they saw Las Nevadas and he questions if they paid the toll
- Quackity tells Tina that if she can provide him with a trident, he will give her Netherite armor. He tells the same to Jikishi, but Tina says that she can. Quackity gets annoyed at Jikishi and says he can just have the armor then
- Tina tells Quackity about her dog, Callahan, and Quackity asks what brand he is
- Quackity asks them if they have any products that could benefit the business of Las Nevadas. If they want to be rich, Las Nevadas is the place
- He offers to set them up with a meeting. Karl points out he’s the one who made a separate country. Quackity laughs and says he has no regrets
- Tina finds it sad that Dream is in prison and doesn’t get why he has to be there...
- Quackity says to meet them at Tommy’s house, but Hulk Hogan stops them along the path. Hulk Hogan turns into a shadow demon thing of some sort and offers to show them the forgotten places. Tails, of the SMP, joins them
- They find that Quackity’s old basement room has been destroyed. Quackity wants to rebuild it, so they do. Quackity tells them that he’s the QRS – Quackity Revinue System, which collects taxes, and he wants them to help him with it
- Antfrost logs on. Karl accidentally calls Quackity Sapnap. Jikishi rebels, so Callahan shoots him and Quackity kills him. They run over to get him back and they find Antfrost
- Quackity wants them to get back to work. He makes them diamond tools
- Antfrost turns into his maid outfit and Tina tries to bargain with him. She gives him a picture of Karl and he logs out with it. Callahan is upset
- They continue working on the room and find old Butcher Army maps
- They pray to Quackity, get a disc and Quackity takes Tina aside. The two steal from Bad’s house
- As the two walk along the path, Quackity tells Tina that he wants her to singlehandedly bring back glory to Dream SMP. Specifically, he wants her to be a politician, and he will invest in her campaign for President. What she needs is votes
- Tina stands at Wilbur’s revival shrine to practice giving speeches and campaigning. Karl briefly tries to attack her
- Tina has doubts, but Quackity insists that she needs to get her hands dirty in order to not be poor. Callahan becomes Tina’s security. Jikishi comes over. Callahan gives a heartwarming speech
- Bad comes over to get back his stuff that Tina stole from him, namely the Language sword. A fight breaks out.
- They get to Tommy’s house and Bad welcomes Tina to the SMP, eventually entrusting her with the Language sword temporarily
- Quackity whispers to her telling her to store it in her Ender Chest. She does so. Quackity tells Bad what she did and how she now has leverage over him to extort him with. Quackity teaches Tina to blackmail Bad for Netherite
- Bad points out that he gave Quackity several Netherite sets already. Tina feels bad, but Quackity whispers for her to ask for two Netherite sets instead
- Quackity tells Bad that Tina is going to be the next President. He gives in and tells her to give Bad back the sword, as it’s true that Bad has made him many sets already
Tina: “So you’re just using me – you’re using me as a pawn!”
Quackity: “Tina, I’ve always had your best interests in mind.”
- Quackity tells her to hand him the sword. Bad says he has Netherite for Tina. Tina has Bad’s sword...she gets the sword from her Ender Chest
- Tina figures Quackity isn’t even a part of this deal at all! But Quackity backs her down with his full armor and an axe, saying he’s part of the deal
- Quackity hits Tina and they call security on him, but Quackity stops and says to hand over the sword in exchange for a deal. The moment Tina takes the sword out of the chest, he says, he will take it from her
- Tina makes a break for her Ender Chest and puts the sword back in it. A thunderstorm rages in the background
Tina: “It feels so morally unjust, doesn’t it? Don’t you feel a pang of guilt? Not even a little?”
Quackity: “Don’t you talk about ‘morally unjust’ when you have this man’s sword in your Ender Chest.”
- Bad tries to take Tina aside one-on-one but Quackity intervenes. Tina quickly says that Quackity is a part of the deal and she wouldn’t betray his trust to cut him out of it like that
- Tina backs away and Antfrost drops her a Potion of Swiftness. She drinks it and runs to the Holy Land
Quackity: “That’s fine, Tina, because when you get there you’ll realize that your entire existence will depend on being on the Holy Land because even though you can’t die there, you know what’s gonna happen? You’re gonna live the rest of your days there, because I’m gonna be waiting for every waking moment that you step out of the Holy Land. You are going to die, Tina. You understand? And I’m gonna make that my life’s mission if I have to.”
- Tina shelters in the Church with Bad and Ant, who tell her that she’s safe there. Tina puts on Netherite armor that Bad gives her while Quackity watches and builds a small wall at the entrance
- Callahan comes running over and Karl rejoins the call. Both Tina and Quackity explain what happened to Karl, and Quackity and Tina have a confrontation in the Holy Land
- Karl leads them out of the Holy Land to see some fireworks. Tina tells Bad she feels like she messed up, but Bad tells her nothing but trouble comes of getting involved with Quackity
- Quackity comes over but doesn’t attack. Bad says she would have helped Tina anyway, and Tina tells Quackity she’s sorry, but he’s already left
- The subject returns to factions. They return to Kinoko, Jikishi not sure if he’s going to join.
- Tina thinks she should get Quackity a sorry present.
She doesn’t think he’s as bad as people make him out to be.
