guys I'm absolutely HAMMERED at this point like we all see how wen kexing is so obvious IN YOUR FACE with his love and affection, right,but zhou zishou?

when wkx's past was revealed zzs was comforting him. But zzs also understood that the man was so broken down that he couldn't think straight and would probably regret not telling Long Que about the aftermath of what happened to his family. So zzs reveals the story but also kept wkx's identity hidden respecting wkx's decision while still revealing the aftermath of the Zhen family

like look at the gratefulness and endearment in wkx's small smile, also the fact that zzs attests for his goodness when wkx himself doesn't believe it and the way zzs is holding his hands the entire time.... just the whole thing is so pure and tender. Incredible. zzs is an incredible man and the consideration and love he has for wkx is remarkable.

a nice short fic for the last (day 15) prompt: lantern festival! of the DZZS Lunar New Year mini prompt fest! i wasn’t fully sure what i would end up writing for this one, but i’m very happy with what i landed on :D

“Look at this!” Gu Xiang says. Gao Xiaolian follows, as always. This time, Gu Xiang has found a figurine of a rabbit lifting a lantern into the air.

“How cute,” Gao Xiaolian says. The figurine is covered in fantastically delicate details. It pales in comparison to Gu Xiang’s delighted look as she brings it up to her face to marvel over.

Gu Xiang gets distracted as she puts the statuette down, darting over to a sweets stall. Gao Xiaolian pays for the figurine, tucking it away.

“A-Xiang!” she calls out. “Wait for me!”

“Sorry, Xiaolian-jie,” Gu Xiang says, briefly contrite before spotting something else and bounding off again.

The evening grows darker, the red glow of lanterns casting soft shadows across Gu Xiang’s face. Finally, she seems to be slowing down.

“Are you tired?”

Gu Xiang shakes her head vehemently, braids bouncing against her shoulders. Gao Xiaolian wants to tug on them. “No! I’m fine.”

“Maybe I’m tired of chasing you all evening,” Gao Xiaolian teases.

“Why didn’t you say so! Sit. I’ll bring us some tangyuan.” Before Gao Xiaolian can say anything, Gu Xiang has bundled her onto a bench and hurried off.

When she returns, Gao Xiaolian laces their hands together, pulling her onto the bench too. “Thank you, A-Xiang,” she whispers.

“Growing up, I never got anything like this. I love it,” Gu Xiang admits, more honest than normal.

Gao Xiaolian wants to give her everything. She settles for quickly kissing her cheek. “You deserve celebrations, meimei.”

My version of the wardrobe template! yay!! I had a LOT of fun doing this and feel like I could elaborate a bit more on each of those.

It's already linked up here, but here's once again a > link to the post.< Anyway! More about these designs below!

So first, for WKX's template! - Chapter 2: Grey robes I had already made my design of those for the full TYK lineup I made a while back. I really, really like those, and took inspiration from some of the robes SHL!WKX wears in the show for the shapes. - Chapter 69: dark robes with dark red belt I expected to like that style for him, but not that much! I had seen a tutorial on how asymetrical hanfus were worn by archers in the past and that inspired me, purely on a fashion level of course. I like how intimidating he looks with those and enjoy the touches of blue in the inner layer of the robes. - Chapter 75: dark red robes The GVM robes! which I also designed a while back when researching for the illustrations of the Mt Fengya battle scenes that I wanted to make. I reworked them just a little bit and got rid of some details that I didn't like anymore. I tremendously pleated skirts for WKX so I went at it once again. I also used shifts in hues to make it look like it could have been drenched in blood. - Extra 5: deep red robes For the reminder (since apparently some people are not aware of extra 5's existance), this extra is set 5 years post-canon. I wanted WKX to wear something that looked comfortable for traveling but also practical and fashionable. The teal jacket is of course another nod at SHL since the red and teal combo was an absolute banger. Let's say I didn't want WKX to just sport an all-red look. Furthermore, the teal really works to adorn the red hues. - My personal favourite I actually don't really know whether those are my actual personal favourites, but I've come to LOVE WKX dressed in red and white thanks to @kwehxing's designs. I think it really suits him and on top of that it avoids the question "is this Hua Cheng" LMAO--okay jokes aside, I combined most of the shapes that I really like for WKX (wider shoulders, wide sleeves, and long robes with pleated inner robes) and I find him very elegant like this. Now, for ZZS! - Chapter 1: sapphire blue scholar robes Those had already been designed before as well! They're my go to generic TC!ZZS robes, haha. I was a bit extra with the blue colour here, but oh well. I'm quite obsessed with the silver brocade cynching his waist, haha. - Chapter 2: stolen farmer robes A classic as well as far as I'm concerned--of course, inspired by his hobo fit in SHL because it was quite efficient. I'm forever fond of my scruffy hobo!Xu and his toes poking from his sandals. - Chapter 18: luxurious robes from the Gao family Those were a new design! Which I had a lot of fun coming up with. Putting ZZS in a different colour scheme was also really nice. For those who don't remember, ZZS feels quite ridiculous when he sees himself in a mirror wearing those fancy robes while being so emaciated and still sporting his hobo mask. I wanted to give this "out of place" feeling; and also work on a very "wuxia" style for the robes, since this is jianghu and they were provided by Gao Chong. - Extra 5: black robes I'm incredibly fond of this design. I worked quite a bit on it, since I wasn't sure of where I wanted to go. My main guidelines were: practical and cool. I really like ZZS having a lot of room to move so ideally not too much fabric in the way, and I think he also needs arm braces to be rid of annoying sleeves. Of course, him looking much healthier and having a dynamic ponytail really works to "complete the look", and I find that he looks really cool there haha. - My personal favourite This one has been refined over the months, but it's definitely, overall, my favourite look for him in terms of shapes and construction. I like that the robes are short, I like the more fashionable jacket. I'm especially into the "pants tucked into the boots" silhouette, as well as the little ribbons keeping them tight around the ankles. I'd say that this leg shape + short robes + a bun (or sometimes a ponytail) is THE ZZS design combo for me, haha. It looks practical and fun and adventurous, just how I like it.

To conclude the whole post, I had more fun doing this than I even expected, and needless to say that I'm very excited to see other versions of them following this template. It was a good opportunity to try and project what the characters look like throughout the book, and a fun design exercise as well. I actually don't really like doing character design usually, but for characters I'm obsessed with, it's of course a much nicer experience. Anyway, thank you for reading!

Boya and Zhong Ziqi (the 知己 Zhiji story, written by Lie Yukou 列御寇) - SHL Episode 7

SHL makes a reference to the 知己 Zhiji/Soulmate story of Boya and Zhong Ziqi. (Aka the ultimate soulmate story). It's a story written by Lie Yukou 列御寇 in the Taoist philosophy book Liezi 列子 during the Waring States. 

The story goes like this 

伯牙善鼓琴，钟子期善听。伯牙鼓琴，志在高山。 钟子期曰：“善哉，峨峨兮若泰山！

Boya was good at playing the zither, and Zhong Ziqi was a good listener.  As Boya played the qin, Zhong Ziqi thought of the lofty mountains.  He exclaimed, “Great!  Towering just like Mount Tai!”

”志在流水，钟子期曰：“善哉，洋洋兮若江河！”伯牙所念，钟子期必得之。

Boya thought of the running water;  Zhong Ziqi exclaimed again, “Great!  Vast like the River Jiang!”  Whatever Boya thought of, Zhong Ziqi could understand it from the sound of the zither. 

伯牙游于泰山之阴，卒逢暴雨，止于岩下：心悲，乃援琴而鼓之。初为霖雨之操，更造崩山之音。

Once, Boya was travelling on the north side of Mount Tai when suddenly, he was caught in a thunderstorm and was trapped under a rock.  Heartbroken, he took up the zither and started to play.  Initially, it was a piece that reflected the continuous rain.  Then, Boya played another piece that expressed the collapse of the mountain. 

曲每奏，钟子期辄穷其趣。伯牙乃舍琴而叹曰：“善哉，善哉，子之听夫志，想象犹吾心也。吾于何逃声哉？”子期死，伯牙谓世再无知音，乃破琴绝弦，终身不复鼓。

Zhong Ziqi would always understand each meaning of each song.  Boya put down his zither and sighed, “Great!  Great!  Do you understand? What you thought of in your heart when I played the zither was one and the same.  Where could I go to find what my inner thoughts are?”  When Zhong Ziqi died, Boya felt that he didn’t have a soulmate 知音 anymore, thus he broke his zither and never played it again.

T/N: There’s another article on Baidu explaining that a year had passed since their initial meeting and Boya leave from the Jin King and came back to the riverside where they had met.  He waited for Zhong Ziqi, who didn’t showed up.  Boya subsequently learned the Zong Ziqi had passed on a few months ago.  Boya was so heartbroken that he broke his zither and never played again.

Again, this is another story of soulmates that do not live happily ever after. D:

This story has also given rise to the idiom 高山流水 Lofty Mountains and Running Water (appears in 0:08 and 0:15 of the video above).  It refers to the difficulty of finding a soul mate, or the beauty of a music piece.  It’s also the name of a famous guzheng song.  (Which was when I first learned of the idiom personally). There're also 2 guqin songs, the first was titled 高山 Lofty Mountains and the second was named 流水 Running water. The guqin player 's performance of 流水 Running water was included in the Voyager Golden Records by NASA in 1977. This is a performance of the said piece. (idk if this was the performance recommended by NASA though lol)

How do you watch hockey games? I want to get into it but I have no clue how to start.

i pay for espn+ (as part of the hulu/disney+/espn+ bundle) which is the "official" online streaming service for the nhl. if you currently have hulu and disney+, i think it's a really great deal. this works for me personally because i'm currently located outside of my main teams blackout regions (eg. i am not in the tri-state area). unfortunately, if you are located within the limits of where a local broadcast would reach, espn+ is pretty much a non-option because they'll simply black out all the local team's games. so for example, when i go home, i get blacked out and can't watch games via espn+. so if you want to go this route, you also have to be outside of the blackout region for the nhl team you want to follow.

for free options, i think the easiest and most comprehensive i'm aware of (and use occasionally) is onhockey.tv. you will need an adblocker prior to loading this site (i use adblockerplus), but they are extremely comprehensive. they will have every broadcast regardless of where you are located geographically. sometimes the quality on here can get a little crunchy, and i always recommend clicking through the available stream links because some will come in better than others (if you hover over the link without clicking, you'll see a popup with which broadcast the link goes to). and when i say extremely comprehensive, i mean it. if a hockey game is broadcasted somewhere, they will have it. this includes the AHL, ECHL, international leagues (SHL, Liiga, etc), junior hockey games (WHL, OHL, U18s), college teams (basically any NCAA, mens or womens), and womens hockey leagues.

nhl66.ir is another free option which has a better interface and better quality, imo. this is my preferred free option, however, they've gotten a little harder to use this season as they have also started executing regional and national blackouts. these can be overwritten with use of a VPN, though i've had some trouble with this personally (it seems pretty finicky and often drops in the middle of games, can get frustrating). also keep in mind that you can only watch ESPN streams here if you are within the US and that national streams are only available outside of the US. so if you are located in the blackout region of the nhl team you want to follow, you'll have to have a vpn that can change specific location in the US, not just to a different country. they are going through a bit of an overhaul, so the issues with vpn dropping will likely be resolved, though i don't see them dropping the requirement of a vpn altogether.

lastly, i'd be remiss not to mention that the PHF streams all their games on twitch for free: https://www.twitch.tv/thephf. if you're just getting into the sport and just want to watch games to see if you like it, highly recommend. plus support professional women's hockey 👏

tldr; espn+ is the official paid service from the nhl. onhockey.tv is a good free option if you are inside a blackout region and want an easy option or want to watch outside the nhl. nhl66.ir is a good free option if you are outside the nhl team blackout region or you're willing to go through the hoops of using a vpn. twitch to watch womens hockey games.

as far as advice for "getting into hockey", you're definitely on the right track !! watching games is by far the best way to absorb things (and you'll be surprised how much you can pick up just from watching). i also recommend following the main beat reporters for the team(s) you want to follow on twitter! don't worry too much about knowing every rule and call or even every player on the team right away. hockey is pretty simple and quick to absorb especially when you watch a lot of games. don't feel like you have to memorize things or treat it like a college course. if you want to, have fun with it !! but like many things, you can decide if you want / how deeply you want to go into it as you find what aspects interest you (eg. analytics, knowing the ins and outs of the rulebook, team dynamics, prospect/player development, trades/contracts/signings, etc). none of those are requirements to being a hockey fan and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Bingge/SJ is great, excellent, not my main ship but I like drawing them and I've read a fic or two of them!! They're very dramatic and can each bite and torment one another in very wonderful ways. I believe in bq soulmates so if SY ever got introduced to that pairing it would fall apart but so would any non-bq ship

Rogue Speech - the Sky/Skulk Pidgin

One of the most common trade-speaks used before the Great Connection and one of the few tongues that intriguingly remained un-touched by the Connection, Rogue-Speech is the pidgin created between the Sky Kingdoms and the Skulks near them. With the forest clans being even more isolationist in the past (often refusing business with non-cats before the connection) and the tribes living on parts of the mountains that are difficult to reach (and often had isolation tendencies themselves); the Skies were the near sole progenitors of feline-speech within the pidgin. 

Being that this variant of trade-speech originated from the Rising Moon and the Old Kingdom of the Shining Sun, much of the canine influence came of the Silverfeathers skulk. The modern version has long since created a minor dialectal difference of Eastern vs. Western where the Western version of the tongue contains more vocabulary and quirks from the Grand Packs while the Eastern holds the Skulks’ influence.

The sounds and the written expressions of them adhere closest to Sivake as it was the skies who reached out first and held onto the information though it was the Skulks who introduced the concept of formal writing to them. Here are the consonants;

As is standard for any pidgin, the hardest sound clusters from both languages were dropped. Because I’m still a bit new at this, I’m choosing to make that mean that the sounds that are either forbidden or are very different from the others are barred.

Being that the pidgin is built from languages that all have noun classes, some are kept in this simplified version of it; the semi-animate is dropped from the skulks’ language, migrating everything important into the main two categories of animate and inanimate.

The markers from Sivake are used to confirm or deny animacy of a noun.

Part 3: Grammatical Number

The paucal wasn’t necessary for understandings to be made and it was easier to merely convey “one of a thing” vs. “many of a thing” before fluid communication was developed and so; only a singular/plural distinction exists now.

Part 4: Tense, Aspect and Mood

As talks became more fluid and grammar straightened out, tense and aspect became to be addressed within the pidgin. For once, it is the kingdoms whose system is a tad simpler; having mostly only a past/non-past distinction with one additional tense commonly called the historical added to it. One the skulks’ side of things, not only do they have a recent and distal past tense but they also have one dedicated to the future.

When the tenses were straightened out; the language adopted three tenses - past, present and future with both languages dropping their distal tenses. 

As for the aspects, the kingdoms gracefully traded their iterative aspect (which they use more or less to mean “again” or “a lot”) for the skulks’ habitual while also retaining their momentane aspect. On the skulks’ end, they dropped their resumptive aspect.

It’s not a complex system - which is the goal - but the momentane is important to me. Anyway, let’s borrow sky-word for “to talk.”

And for my own entertainment, here’s the skulk’s word for “to talk, speak” in the chart.

Tacking onwards, the imperative mood is kept from Sivake -ro.

Part 5: Pronouns

This is where the most simplification comes in. The Skies were made to relinquish their grasp on their dependent pronouns; sticking only to the independent forms to smooth out communication. In addition; the divine pronouns never made to this pidgin as there was never any reason to use it in casual conversation and would only serve to make future communication more confusion and difficult if they were forcefully inserted. On top of that; Sivake also gave up their paucal pronouns to match the fact that they dropped it as a grammatical number leaving a rather concise handful of pronouns as a base:

The only moderately complex thing about this wonderfully concise collection of pronouns is that the skulks’ inclusion of animacy on their own pronouns invaded these. When not speaking in first person, it’s common for the animacy agreement markers to be tagged to the ends of pronouns. While not exactly expected for second person, it’s considered mandatory on third-person pronouns.

The Skies weren’t the only ones making sacrifices regarding their referrals to others - the titles of the Skulks were imported but they were drastically condensed with some of their sounds changed to better fit the current sound-bank.

The speakers of the Skies are known to modify these terms with gender based attachments to add specification.

Part 6: Articles and Demonstratives

The articles and demonstratives are exempt from noun class agreement. The articles follow the Sky Kingdom’s association with only having a definite articles while leaving any indefinite articles unmarked.

Plural Definite - Ba

The demonstratives on the other hand come from Kujhikoslan which has only a near/far distinction.

Final Note

Given that a vast majority of the talking was done by the Skies, the majority of the vocabulary for this pidgin turned creole is from Sivake albeit sometimes important words were replaced by the Kujhikoslan words when the Sky translation left them as unimportant. This is mostly apparent in words for birds and things related to them given their spiritual significance in the religion of the marrowed skulks.

Before his 21st bday, he has been named rookie of the year in DEL, best defenceman in SHL, best defenceman at World Championships, and been voted the best young player in Europe. Besides those titles he has won DEL and SHL championships.

Would have been rather questionable if Mo didn't win the Calder too... As a dman who put up 50 points... In rebuilding Detroit...

Not to mention he's the fifth dman to win the Calder in the 2000's, which also does showcase how exceptional Seider is.

Y2008, as the Alekov Brave Birds; played as members of the Skanovian Hockey League (SHL) for 31 seasons

Y2039, moved to the Plutidyne Elite Hockey League (PEHL) after the SHL folds and the teams are bought out by the PEHL’s owners in order to save them. The hope was to draw fans with already established teams.

Y2107, merged into the Combat Sports Hockey League (CSHL) after the PEHL is bought out by Combat Sports Entertainment.

Y2108, One hundred years after the Alekov Brave Birds were first founded, the club changes their name to the Alekov Valiant and rebranded their iconic “Brave Bird” name and logo into something more modern / current.

Name Origin: The city the team is based in, Alekov, has a strong military history dating back to the country’s founding. It is even named after a historical Skanovian military leader, Ivan Alekov, who is credited with being a major leader in the war that eventually gave the early Skanovian people control over their country. The city is also home to a Skanovian Air Force base, further adding to this. The people here are very proud of this heritage and culture, and are  also generally loyal to the team itself. However, individual players are often criticized for even minor failures. Hockey is a popular sport in Skanovia as a whole, but especially in larger metropolitan areas, such as Alekov.

Star Players:

Keiko Akiyama, #9, centre; Top scoring player. Most recent 1st overall draft pick in Valiant history, drafted under “exceptional status” at fifteen years of age and expected to turn the entire team around on his own because of it. He often gets the brunt of the media and fanbase’s outrage, something he tries to avoid talking about or commenting on.

Timur Kotov, #97, left wing; Captain of the team; contributes to many of Keiko Akiyama’s points (especially goals), and can often be seen hanging out with him off the ice. Has a notable attitude with the media in general, especially when it comes to making sure his teammates are given the credit they deserve for their on ice performance. Usually a fan favourite, but also subject to heavy criticism from fans and reporters alike; often puts his own performance down to lift his teammates' up.

Kazimir Krovopuskov, #66, defense; A hotheaded, offensively minded defenseman. Often seen laying heavy checks on opponents and crushing them in any way he can to keep them from scoring. Kazimir is usually the first one to jump into a fight with another player or the first one to swing at an opponent who picks on one of his teammates. He is often regarded as the team’s “guard dog” by teammates, a term that has since affectionately been applied to him by many Valiant fans. Brother of fellow teammate, Valentin Krovopuskov. 

Viljo Voutilainen, #77, defense: Often nicknamed "Scout", his silence should not be mistaken for passiveness. He has a unique talent for seeing every facet of the game, and a lot of times he seems to know what an opponent is going to do, sometimes maybe even before they do. He is shifty and not very flashy with his play style, but those looking closely can see the game being simulated in his mind and how quickly he adapts to it. People even joke that Viljo "must be psychic" due to his remarkably high level of hockey IQ. He adopts a more stay at home style of defense, but easily sets up his forwards for goal after goal. 

Ingvar Hjalmarsson, #28, right wing; Known simply as "the Berserker" to many fans, the flame haired man easily leads the team in fights, penalty minutes, and ejections just about every season. He is notable for his ferocity and very aggressive play style, coupled with his notably massive size, coming in at a towering 6'8" and 260 lb. These traits make him a force to be reckoned with and a sight to behold on the ice, especially for a team more focussed on the "skills" aspect of the game.

Viktor Pchelyakov, #95, goaltender; The Valiant's starting goaltender. He is one of the few “veteran” presences on the team, having been with the Valiant organization since 17 years old after a trade from the Koroshiv Comets following his rookie year. He is currently 27 years old. He is most known for his stone cold demeanour, not often phased by the events of the game, even when he is specifically being provoked. He stonewalls his opponents with a shocking amount of ease. He often leads the league’s goalies in shutouts and currently holds the fourth spot in Valiant franchise history for most shutouts recorded by a goalie even at his relatively young age. Viktor is also one of the few "southpaw" goalies in the CSHL. He is heavily criticized by media and fans alike, and is often blamed for not doing enough to help the recently struggling Alekov Valiant. The biggest criticism he gets is that he is "streaky", as whenever Pchelyakov tallies a loss in a game, it is often by a very, very high amount.

You think S/QH saw people as actual people? S/QH?? The guy whose premeditated actions lead to a body count in the iac of ~1000, (incl. 39 from Cang Qiong) and does not even think much about it? The guy whose in extra we see call his fellow shixiongdi "x-shixiong" and don't know their names. Barely shed a tear when mbj killed them. When things diverged for the better, (lqg alive) he was weirded out (even though he did give og sqq advice to avoid that). Sold sy out for one corn chip. I have big doubts he saw people from the "real world" as actual people.

While sqq is over here angsting about pushing one (1) disciple into the abyss. He killed the skinner demon and felt sorry for it!! He went back to Cang Qiong, straight into the hands of lbh bc he cared about the people of Cang Qiong instead of just fricking off in his new body. Oh yeah, he also decided to rescue lmy and others from shl even though he could just frick off in his new body. ONE OF THE FIRST ACTIONS HE DID WAS PROTECT LBH DESPITE THE OOC WARNINGS!! HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY HE MIGHT DIE BUT HE SENT THOSE LEAVES ANYWAY!!! FRICKING WITHOUT-A-CURE!!

If he did all this without thinking they were real people, he's more suicidal and stupid than I thought (though I acknowledge *some* people genuinely (and erroneously) do think this).
