lines from nahida's story quest ii [sapientia oromasdis ii] that made me cry + will make you cry too (spoilers)
Tumblr media
"our past has been saved, and our future ensured. it's enough for me just knowing that they will return home."
"not all eagles who have fallen to the ground can soar in the sky once again. but if no risks are taken, then the eagle will be grounded forever."
"don't be sad...this is not your home...we go home."
"lord of dendro...should also go home too."
"i learned a wonderful word. it's 'nur,' which means 'light.' it will be your name from now on."
"...nur..."
fun fact! the word "home" is used in sapientia orosmasdis ii a total of about seventy times. i'm gonna go cry now.

Sapientia Oromasdis Act 1 had the makings of a really good, maybe even great, Story Quest, and was entirely undercut by the Traveller's arc repeating the last ten seconds of the Archon Quest but in slow motion.
Seriously, if the AQ had ended with the Traveller going "I still need to think about this before I decide", then their arc in the Nahida quest—"here's some arguments in favour of acknowledging grief in that sense, but no, bad idea"—makes sense!
Instead they had the Traveller go "ok I won't", and their arc in the Nahida quest was "...or should I?... maybe... or maybe not... ok I won't", not having changed (nor having changed others) as a result of the dithering.
They just had to change one line in the preceding AQ, I swear. >_>

So Nahida's character quest is basically a reverse Inception. Inception's ending was basically saying if a person can have happiness, it doesn't matter whether they're awake and actually experiencing the event or just dreaming, that was the whole meaning of the last shot with the spinning top. Nahida's quest went the opposite direction and basically say it does matter. The former is a negative and passive outlook while the latter is a positive and active outlook.

I just finished Nahida's story quest (Sapientia Oromasdis Chapter: Act 1), and I'm still not sure what the shooting star Nahida witnessed in the dream realm meant.

In this playthrough, I start the new Nahida Story Quest in version 3.2 of Genshin Impact, "Lingering Warmth"! I get to be a dream interpreter with Nahida and solve a devious mystery surrounding the Akasha.
Can the Dendro Archon empathize with her people? Will dreams become reality? Which life will Ilman and the other dreamers choose? Let's find out~

@asimplemulti liked for a starter! (For Nahida)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn't often that the other Archons saw each other, Morax himself was no stranger to such, glad in the time that he had walked Teyvat that he had at least saw fit to contact each of them throughout the time they had sat upon their seats, even if it was not one of the original Seven that he had Ascended to the seats with.
As such, it was strange to find the Dendro Archon outside of Sumeru and in his domain of all places. As kind as he may be, he was, still, in the end, a dragon adeptus, which meant that the showing of someone with the power of an Archon present in his territory made his instincts rear their head briefly, before with practiced patience the Prime Adeptus settled them and nudged them back to decent levels.
"What brings you to Liyue, Buer?" He asked, using her Goetic name for her specific seat, "It is not often that another walks into my domain without a purpose."

HEY I JUST REALIZED.
"lord of dendro...should go home too." -> such a tragically ironic line.
where is nahida's home?
it's not in the desert, because her past with king deshret is forever locked behind irminsul's deleted records.
it's not in vanarana, because she has duties to the people of sumeru as well as the forest.
and yet it's not in sumeru city, because, you know. *gestures at the entirety of nahida's birthday teaser, her archon quest, etc.* even though nahida is slowly re-integrating into her role as archon, she is still unsteady. we see this in part one of her story quest, where she works to balance her people's desires with the greater good. and she succeeds! but it's a learning process.
traveler knows she was rukkhadevata, but nahida doesn't. that's the crux of the archon quest - that the sages can't let go of rukkhadevata. that they don't believe nahida to be capable. it's even ingrained in their titles.
greater lord rukkhadevata. lesser lord kusanali.
so the point is, that while traveler knows nahida is more than capable of all the duties necessary of a nation's archon - she doesn't quite know that yet. nahida is, for all she's immortal, a child who has so, so much to learn from a nation that did its best to erase, imprison, and ignore her for five hundred years.
can you feel at home in a place that used to be your prison? i struggle to reconcile that. i believe that given time, it's possible. the sages are deposed, and honestly nahida seems much more forgiving than she should be. see story quest one - she's doing her best to listen and learn from the dreams and hopes of sumeru citizens.
but there is also, admittedly, a large amount of trauma nahida no doubt has from the previous sages' treatment. isolated for centuries on end. blamed for the demise of the 'better,' 'greater,' 'more capable' god. treated and contained like some mistake waiting to be replaced. because that's literally what the sages tried to do.
so i still, still wonder. for all that sumeru city has grown, for all that nahida has learned and will learn after being freed, for all that she seems to reside in the sanctuary of surasthana - can she consider it her home yet?
so it hit hard when the fungi said that nahida should go home too. because it got me thinking - where is home?
what is home, to the dendro archon, god of wisdom, once-prisoner of humans?
i hope nahida finds it. i love and wish her all the best.

You know, Nahida might not quite understand how humans think, but she can still be a really good therapist. Like damn she's giving the right advice every time while Paimon sounds like your average tarot enthusiast
